She is very intellegent, precise, and helpful. The class can be a little confusing at first, but give it a little time and things start to make good sense. She is very clear about what you were supposed to know and is very helpful to students. She's hot.
best prof ive ever had period. most brilliant woman ever. <3
ohh, this woman.. take a class from her. appealing academically, ideologically, and visually. but she still has a book i lent to her.. i must remember to get it back.
I would not have graduated without her. Linda is amazing.
This prof would prefer to 'talk at you' for an hour or more. Not good for people with ADD- she's helpful, but you HAVE to follow closely. She acts like more of a student than a teacher- in style and speech, which can sometimes be a bad thing.
Linda ROCKS! I would not have graduated without her. She is great at teaching a hard subject. Also she is willing to help after class if you arn't getting it. Take Linda for LOGIC...
Linda is the cooliest prof ever. take this class and you will pass. she loves to talk about her cat. If your not good at math and need it for a rec. take this class. dont stress you'll catch on.
Very easy you just have to follow along and attend calss. I have never been so interested in a class before. I like the teacher because she is like a student. Take her you wont regret it.
She tells you what you need to know pretty much. IT is OLD school philosophy which is something I don't care about at all. If you put in the effort, attend class now and then (she does not really care) you will be just fine!!
Definately an interesting class and Linda is very helpful and sparks an exciting classroom experience!
Makes logic fun and is willing to help you if you get behind. On top of that she is also pretty hot, I found myself staring at her more than the chalkboard.
she's great at explaining things in depth and has a great sense of humour
explains things clearly
Very late in returning papers - most were not returned at all. Very hard to determine how I was doing in the class until the final grades were posted. She seemed too busy to focus on the class.
linda is a really terrible teacher. she is unorganized and VERY UNINTERESTING! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS EVER WITH HER!!!!! i thought philosophy would be fun and that we would actually discuss life or something...I was wrong. Linda is so boring with her lectures and so incredibly dull and bad at teaching that almost the entire class stopped showing up
Easily the best teacher I've ever had. Her lectures were SUPER easy to understand, and I felt super prepared for the final. She hands back papers a little late, but she's working another job apparently, which is understandable because teachers make pretty much zilch. The papers are easy to write and she's a kind grader.
It's kind of sad when the teacher skips class more than the students. This is an easy class but if you're interested in actually learning something- I would not recommend this teacher
She rocks! She is super clear on what she wants. If you attend class and take very good notes, you'd have no problem at all in writing papers. She is extremely helpful and fun. I loved her classses and would recoomned her! for me, it was an easy A. Lots of papers but she gives ample time.
Easy easy class.. I think she missed more than me last semester. I came out of this class with an A... no reading. Just skimming and writing a bunch of papers. If you attend lectures, the harder material is explained.
I learned a lot. The papers are really hard and the books are kinda hard to understand
easy class, but by no means interesting. Yes, she is very clear, but doesn't present the material in a way that's engaging; she took the fun out of philosophy, it's depressing. She just doesn't seem to care that much, and her phone rings in class everyday. I do enjoy it when she talks about her cat though, if that makes up for it.
Worst teacher I've ever had. Very immaturely mocks republicans when it has nothing to do with the subject matter or the entire class. Her phone went off at least 3 times during summer session. Classes are super boring, unless you like hearing examples over and over. I usually find the ratings on RMP.com to be accurate but her's are not. Avoid her.
She was alright but honestly I was looking for more of a challenge in her class and did not find that. She was very spacey in terms of grading and timeliness which made me frustrated. She seemed to have passion about her subject but this was never really able to transfer to the students.
No connection with her student...leaves class before me.
Enviromental Ethics was a joke. One sided views were presented all semester. I wouldn't have minded this as much if the class would have been remotley challenging. To get a good grade you just need to write a couple short papers. No sources necessary just your opinion and how it relates to a short text read in class.
Essentric, funny, and knows what she's talking about. Don't expect her to get to personal though, but the way I see it, just means she's not picking favorites.
She will review papers ahead of time, if you have them done early. Final is open notes and "cheat sheet" is allowed. Lectures were very unorganized, no powerpoint or D2L use. Great person, poor instructor. Sorry Linda.
She talks about the same topics for weeks, but she will basically write your papers for you from what she talks about and from discussion group. The readings are difficult since they were written by Plato, Mill and Kant. Her lectures are disorganized and boring. She assumes you know what she's talking about. She is funny though, so that is a plus.
Terrible Prof. tilted so far left she almost needs a prop. rants on the same subject for weeks and long after over half the class stopped coming or finds something else to do during class. ive yet to finish this class but im not hoping to much for a passing grade.
she is horrible teacher.please if you need advise don't take her class. she has too many 4x of each at least 4pages assignment in the semister. she grades soo bad and her quizes most students get 3/5 or less than that. you wont even know your grade untill the end because she doesn't use D2l.
she is a hard grader.
This was a hard class, but mainly because of the material--we learned about Kant, Mill, Aristotle, etc. My advice for this class? Take plenty of notes; even more than you think you will need! If you write sufficient notes, you can write your papers off of them. I would say to prep for the quizzes, but don't stress. :)
Nice enough lady, however her teaching style is very off the wall. I wouldn't take another class with her, but ethics was pretty easy. I didn't read any of the books and barely went to class and pulled off a B.
Took two classes with her, logic and ethics. Both were very easy. Super laid back class, no homework ever. Essays are easily BS'able. She is pretty left-sided and has a thing for cats.
This class really did cause me to start thinking differently about our environment, and she definately took the time to talk in depth about the readings...which helps. There were several short papers to write, but she gives you plenty of time and she grades fairly. I highly recommend her.
Class was half lecture, half discussion. Very boring to sit through, although the information was interesting. Heavy reading material. Exams were easy and very short.
Lots and lots of reading and 6-8 essays which are on the readings. Her lectures are very boring, she tries to spruce it up with talks about her cat but basically I was struggling to pay attention. Tests are 25 points and super easy, you get 2 have a cheat sheet. She's funny and attempts to make it fun. Really cool class though! I'd take it again.
Extremely boring lectures, she also cancels class a lot. She says she has 3 jobs and gets tired. If you like sleeping in class rooms, take her class. too many essays for 3 credit class.
Turned around my opinion of philosophy, work a little and she will reward you.
Great teacher and great person. Took 3 classes with her and would take more. Lectures may seem to carry on to some but are nesessary to fully understand.
Linda was a great teacher; funny, energetic, approachable, and great at teaching the material. Doesn't take attendance and doesn't grade homework (though turning it all in will boost your grade at the end if you're on the cusp between two letters). Presents material in easy-to-understand way with lots of examples. Highly recommend her for Logic!
Took her Logic class and for the most part, I liked it. Her lectures can feel long sometimes, but she teaches in a way that is easy to understand. Attendance was not required, but since there was no textbook, it would be hard to pass without coming to class. Linda was kind of quirky, but in a good way that made the class more enjoyable.
loved her. will be taking 2 more classes from her next semester. makes class a ton of fun
Awesome lady! Cool with all these neat tattoos. Friendly, flexible, and reasonable. Plus incredibly intelligent. One of my favorite professors after 3 years of college at 3 different schools. Highly, definitely recommend. My best friend said the exact same thing about her logic class. You'd be making a mistake to go with someone else.
While her logic class is very challenging she is a wonderful professor. She has very accessible office hours and teaches very clearly and in such a way as to explain something from a few different perspectives. It is recomended that you show up and actually do the work but she is so awesome i am taking her environmental ethics class next semester.
She's probably one of the best professors I had in my 3 years at Normandale. You can literally avoid 90% of the reading if you show up to all the classes and take solid notes. She cancelled class a lot but definitely made up for it. Take her.
If you need a math credit, take her Logic class ~ she's a great instructor and explains the principle extremely well. I only missed class twice, and it was because I was out of the country...she kind of makes it so you don't want to miss. Energetic and quirky. Class does get cancelled more often than not, but you you don't get behind.
This professor loves to talk and talk. (Also giggles like a muppet) If possible I would say you should take a different general ed. This class seemed to go on forever when she talked. When she would try and explain something should we ramble off philosophy that would only confuse people more. She also is a very hard essay grader.
Linda is a fantastic teacher. While she does have a weird laugh, she's very funny and she made Business Ethics a fun class. She explains things very well and is very helpful. Show up to class and take good notes and you'll do great in the class! Take her!
Linda Canzanella is a must-take professor. Do yourself a favor for life and experience the majesty that is Linda-C. I was able to remember her lecture notes during testing because of her cadence and mellifluous tone. P.S. Every cat that I see is a Zookey now.
Prof. Canzanella was very friendly and knowledgable. Because it was online, we skipped over a lot of big topics quickly. The exams were relatively easy, coming from the book and lectures. The essays were difficult and involved a lot of abstract thought. Overall, a pleasant experience. I received an A.
A little nutty, but a fun teacher overall. Lots of readings assigned, but I never read more than the ones we needed for our essays. If you're good at essays (like I am) you'll do well. Have her look at a rough draft, she'll steer you in the direction of success! Very interesting, insightful teacher.
Took her environmental ethics online this summer. There were lots of articles to read in texts and notes. You'll find the articles helpful for essays and texts. It's an interesting class overall.
Very nice teacher! Was very nervous for this class but she makes it fun and interesting! She uses quizzes for extra credit points towards tests and we go over homework and examples every week which is very helpful! :) Recommend this class if you aren't too great at regular math and definitely recommend her!
I took Prof. Canzanella for Business Ethics and enjoyed her class. The subject matter was a bit on the hard side, but Linda is very approachable and considerate. She puts nice curves into her class.
A well structured and involved class, Prof. Canzanella does expect essays to be well written and full of analysis, which some may struggle with. I enjoyed the class. You are allowed to use notes on tests which is great.
Lectures were a little long, but she does know her stuff. Does a great job explaining and will help! Overall, I would recommend her! Great job!
Prof. Canzanella's logic class is arguably the best one at NCC - she presents the material in a way that is very easy to understand. This was my second time taking logic after dropping it in the past and I found this time to be much better. She's always available for help as well. Don't forget to ask about Zooky.
There were 6 essays that were fairly easy to write about BUT you NEED the book in order to do well in the class. The lectures did get long and pointless at times. She lets you use cheat sheets on the midterm and final which is awesome! I would reccommend her!
This teacher knows her stuff, but she is not good at imparting her knowledge to others. Amount of homework was ridiculous, something due almost every other day, she is quick to degrade you when you don't grasp the material, and when you do weill, you are lucky to get a "good" in the comments. Do NOT take this class if you don't have to!
Linda is awesome! She is a very spunky woman with a great sense of humor. The class format is awesome and you will get an A if you do the work. It's pretty easy. You can make study guides for the exams and she assigns like 6 essays, which are pretty easy. Great instructor!
Linda is the BEST teacher I have had at Normandale! I would highly recommend this class if you're interested in logic. She is extremely knowledgeable and she makes the course a lot of fun.
6 page syllabus/7X3-page/essay/8 quiz/11 pre-discussion/11 discussion/4 case resolution/4 case discussion. Very unclear in poorly written instructions/articles. Lectures are all WRITTEN too! Confusing. The amount of reading and writing is ridiculous. This should be a 6 credit critical reading and writing class for law school students. Beware.
Rolled her eyes a lot. Hesitated to ask questions because every time I did she seem bothered. I don't know, seemed like she had something against me.
She sure knows how to talk the whole hour, but it's interesting and she's funny! Be sure to stay on top of all 6 essays, she gives you the whole semester to turn them all in but don't wait until the end like I did because it's so much work. Study hard for the tests even though you get a cheat sheet. The class was okay overall, but not my favorite.
Very good and knowledgeable teacher. All of the points are on the exams; attendance and homework are optional. But you should definitely opt to be present and do the homework or you'll probably get confused at some point. And be prepared to take notes! I do recommend her if you're going to take a logic class.
She is a very good teacher. I have a major problem with the text. It is way to wordy,Logic is a wordy subject, however The text over explain's everything in an attempt to EXPLAIN,it confuse's. Once I realized that I glossed over and reread underling all highlighted word's,read and re-read,the symbols and formula. fax take home to admission's.
5. The book chosen to read will make you want to pull your hair out. 6. I repeat, she does not respond to emails. I sent my first one 3 times in 3 days before I received a response. 7. Everyone I've spoken to in my class hates it already, keeping in mind that this is only the end of the 2nd week of the semester. 8. Run away while you can.
I took an online Environmental Ethics class from her. I didn't know what to expect. She is extremely helpful if you put in the effort. She works with you and gives you advice to become a better student. I really enjoyed her class even thought it was hard. I'd recommend her to anyone!
Linda is by far one of my favorite teachers I have had at normandale. She's super funny and explains things in a way that is very engaging. The logic class is very fun. It satisfies the math requirement too which is great because it's not actually a math class. Homework is optional but you should do it because it helps you understand things better.
The content was not the most exciting or interesting. However, Linda was funny. Her notes from lecture are very helpful. She randomly takes attendance a few times during the semester. She announces when you will have the case discussion projects in class, so you want to make sure you show up for those. There are six essays, a midterm, and a final.
the amount of homework in this class is absurd. at least one (if not multiple) time consuming assignments due almost every single day. between assigned readinghomework expect hours of philo almost daily. she also takes forever to grade so often completing 3 of one type of assignment before you get feedback on the first one. wouldnt take
There was SO much work for this class!! Not sure if this was her first summer class, but the workload was INSANE! 200+ pages of reading, 6 quizzes, 4 essays (3-4 pages), 13 other various assignments (3-5+ pages each), and 13 discussion posts with 2 replies to classmates--all in FIVE weeks. Interesting subject, but BEWARE of the massive workload!!
I took this as a summer class and received an A. There is a HUGE workload. 7 quizzes, 3 case resolutions, 3 case discussions, 10 article pre-discussions, 10 article discussions, and 4 essays all within 5 weeks. Each assignment takes a couple of hours to complete and there is something due every day. If you do the work, you will do well.
Only part time students with no job can take this class! i had to withdraw it on the second week of the semester ! Work load is just terrible and confusing ! Every thing is essay like and something due ever other day. I won't recommend my friends choosing this teacher . Have you ever spent a day working on one course tasks? Be aware!
She was ok, but I had her for both environmental and business ethics the same semester which was too much. Her lectures can be rambling but are worth attending to a degree, as she does dispell some useful information and occasionally takes attendance or has discussion projects for credit. She's a nice person, but not the greatest teacher.
Lots of reading in the online class, she was helpful and always responded with questions through email. Never felt overwhelmed gives plenty of time for the essays
Linda was amazing! Super funny and always on time and on task. Made class engaging because she knew exactly what she was talking about. I would recommend this class to EVERYONE regardless of credit or interest. Very valuable facts and things to know :)
There are so many papers in this online class. There are 8, 3-4 page papers due in this class during the 15 weeks. Plus, the reading questions are insane. If she gives you 3 pages(printed) of questions, expect double that in typed pages. The reading for this class is also insane. I had to read and re-read many chapters and still didnt understand it
Great educator. Neat lectures and easy papers. I loved Ms. Canzanella's character and patience.
Linda is the coolest lady I've ever met. like I would totally be her friend but her teaching style wasn't awesome. The class was kind of boring and hardly anyone actually showed up to class. I wish she supplemented her lectures with power points or some kind of visual aid. There were only five papers, a midterm and a Final with a cheat sheet.
Linda is very flexible and understanding! There is a lot of work on this class. She is very clear on what needs to get done, there is a lot of reading and everything is exactly off the book!
She's one of my favorite professors. She is one of those teachers that want you to learn and accomplish things. Her assignments are heavy-duty, there are weekly quizzes and multiple essays. There is a lot of reading in this class, but everything from the text. I had to work hard for my grade, and it was worth it! I recommend it!
Linda is so passionate about Environmental Ethics and it clearly shows. She has you watch extremely moving videos about real world events that deeply affect you. Take her class! I promise you won't she won't disappoint.
I would highly recommend Linda! She is a wonderful professor. I didn't know the first thing about Biomedical Ethics but she had a way of teaching that drew you in and got you interested. She takes into account the effort you make in the class. Course work is organized and there is an option to work ahead. Good discussion boards.
awful teacher i have ever taken so far, tough grader, her papers don't have limits, every day you will have 3-4 page paper to write. i'm taking Human Physiology and two other class's, but this class is the most time consuming. i don't think she cares her student.
Do not take with this professor, she assigns so much homework! equivalent of two classes... a lot of papers, a lot of writing. I did reading assignments and wrote out full paragraphs for each question and would still get, not enough info and get 18/20. Read read read & write write write. Its never ending.............................................
The workload is RIDICULOUS. A 4 page essay every three (sometimes 2) days, on top of a chapter reading, discussion project, and quiz. Absolutely asinine. I took this class in the summer while in the process of moving, transferring to another school, and working. If you value your sanity, DON'T DO IT.
SUCH A HUGE WORKLOAD...... I am taking biomedical ethics right now and it is definitely not easy. A discussion, 2 replies to other peoples discussions, weekly textbook readings along with reading questions that vary from 15-30 questions, 4 page essays and case resolutions every week. It is absolutely crazy.
Don't take this class. Not only is the amount of work unbearable and I'm sure you know because you've read the other reviews, but it will also feel like all the work you're doing is a waste of time due to the fact that its impossible to learn anything when all you're able to do is worry about turning assignments in on time. Quantity over Quality.
Linda was a very kind teacher, and the feedback she gave on the essays was incredibly helpful. Good luck keeping up with the readings though. 1-3 articles every week each about 20 pages long (plus it's philosophy so it takes a couple tries to get through it). Lectures did not always make total sense, but if you asked for clarification it was given.
Linda is a great teacher, but it's load of work... You'll need to read a lot! If you do your stuff on time you'll pass with A's for sure, don't be like me and do everything last minute... The grade was all my fault.
Grades extremely tough and does not give useful feedback.
I took Biomedical ethics with Linda, and oh boy, that was tough. A lot of tests, papers, and weekly discussions. The textbook seems a little outdated, but I did learn a lot about controversial topics within the medical environment. I liked Linda though, she was pretty nice and I never had any issues with her. I finished the class with an A :)
I really like Prof Canzanella. She really knows the material and what she is talking about. She does ask for a lot for a 3 credit class so get ready to do the amount of work that a 4 or 5 credit class asks for. Sometimes the work gets tedious but overall I would recommend it as it is not too difficult of a class.
40 pages of reading every week. I still don't understand why we do reading assignments ???? WE HAVE QUIZZES!! The papers and discussion questions are CONFUSING!! Feels like a 4 or 5 credit class for no reason. The teacher is a tough grader and doesn't describe the content well :(. I regret taking this class, I should've taken normal ethics :(
I have never met a teacher who is a harder grader. If you think that you are the best at responding to questions and writing phd level papers, then this may be for you. She docks points on every single question, no room for error. Im glad that I was just able to pass.
After getting used to how she operates and grade things and adapting to it, I was able to get my grade up a lot. She is very specific about what she wants and lets us know in the feedbacks, but she is so specific on some things. Make sure you take advantage of office hours and talk to her about the assignments/ essays and what she wants to see.
don't take this class! worst professor i've had by far. my biology classes aren't this absurd in the matter of the readings! theirs weekly discussions, quizzes and reflections all with 30+pages of readings that individually go with them. Ethics should be enjoyable not a drag like she makes it. She's nice but clearly doesn't teach effectively.
Linda Canzenella is a great professor! She is super knowledgeable in the courses she teaches and always gives good feedback when grading! She teaches classes predominately online and so the class I took with her was online but she was available when I asked for help so despite it being online.
I enjoyed this business ethics class with Prof Canzanella. Instead of a big midterm and final we had short chapter quizzes. We had to do some writing assignments but I thought they were interesting and she was an easy grader. I would take another philosophy class with her!
I took biomedical ethics with professor Canzanella as an early end course which meant it was a lot of work but she was flexible, allowing us to turn in late work which was nice. She also responded to my emails quickly and met with me on Zoom twice to answer questions. I liked the class discussions. She gave lots of comments and was an easy grader.
I took the accelerated class and I haven't had many issues. Each week there are 4 or 5 assignments. I was able to work ahead. She did get a little behind on grading so I am unsure of what grade I will end this class with. She is a tough grader compared to others, but she does provide great feedback. She is kind and willing to help you succeed.
This was an online class that required a lot of reading and homework. This class also required a fair amount of papers. It was a fair amount of work but somewhat more work than I expected for a 3 credit class.
Did about 12-13 hours of work a week for 5 weeks on this class between reading and writing. Grading criteria is clear and her lectures are very comprehensive. Definitely made me more interested in the field/ideas of Ethics. Id say being a strong writer is better than being a strong reader for this course. Manage your time wisely.
Linda was understanding, flexible, and responsive. Would recommend to anyone.
I took this class for a summer class and it's a lot of reading and writing assignments! Linda has a good grading criteria and gives helpful feedback. She is responsive to emails and wants you to succeed in her class.
This is a writing intensive course, many interesting case studies to analyze, lot of papers to submit. Professor gives good feedback on assignments and papers. It's not that hard to get good grades if you follow the professor's class schedule.
The class involves a lot of reading and writing, but Professor Canzanella provides helpful feedback. She's understanding and responsive. While the grading can be tough, using resources like unstuckstudy alongside the textbook can make the workload manageable.
