boring lectures, exams come from book, easy grader, nice,
she's the nicest!
very interested in helping students, helps freshmen adjust, very friendly, nice
Lectures are boring but try to pay attenttion, read and don't sleep through exam
Letures are so boring, doesn't even test on it. But she is a nice person.
Very sweet lady, good teacher but do the readings.
Great Teacher! Nice lady! Best class!
interesting class, she tells u what u need to know! Easy A
Such a nice lady! If u need help she gives it. Reminds me of my grandmother :)
dont take class if dont know too much about bio.
sweet woman who was always willing to help you, pay attention in lecture
No Comments
nice lady but has an annoying voice, class is interesting, tests are ambiguous
bio isnt my thing but shes a great woman. go to class if ur not a science person
GOOD TEACHER
Really nice teacher, go to class and take notes and you'll be fine
Hardest grader ever, so picky, tests are tricky, reading the text is a must!
She is a sweet person, go to her lectures. Tests are a little difficult though.
very nice lady, group work ROCKS
She loves bio like I like raw eggs...A LOT!!!
monotone voice puts u to sleep. treats u like kindergardners. easy exams
even a retarded monkey could get an A if it went to class and read the book
great class! easy if you read the text and take notes. very nice prof
Lectures are boring, very nice, tests are tricky, must read book!
felt like in kindergarten being in groups have her taking attendence, easy final
hard tests, easy groupwork, read the text
Multiple choice tests will trip you up. Read the text for help. Weekly problems are easy points. She takes attendance!!
Very nice lady and is in LOVE with Bio. Gets kinda boring with all of the overhead stuff...but is willing to help. Group work and attendance definitely boost your grade. Read the book...exams are tricky...study a lot.
Seems like a nice lady, however she will screw you over on her +/- system. Tell her to explain it...it changes everytime. READ BOOK...book exam...lecture guides help too
I took AP bio and expected this class to be easy for me...not so. She takes care of her students, but is boring and its a lot of material. Unless you really have a knack for science be prepared to work. There is problem-based learning each week which help
Very nice lady who is VERY into bio. Only problem is that she tells you to study one thing and tests you on COMPLETELY different material. Great teacher overall though.
Very nice lady w/ good intentions, but is very unclear when it comes to exams. Don't waste too much time on the review packets for exams, look into technical text Q's. Majority of the time is spent taking notes or falling asleep trying to pay attention.
Very nice, read text and study the review questions after each chapter and you'll be fine.
Teaches one thing and then tests on another...Multiple choice is tricky...hated this class!
Not as easy as everyone says, talks too fast, doesn't write any of her notes. And trick questions on the exam. Skopik is the best!
All her notes are on powerpoint and there is a study guide online for each chapter. As long as you know the study guide, you will ace every quiz/test! Don't even buy the book! She's the best bio teach I've had
Need to know your stuff in her class. If you memorize her notes and the book diagrams you should be alright. Has 5 quizzes and 2 tests that are more than 50% of your final grade.
I cannot believe this woman. She is crazy and is very unfair w/ tests. Who knows where the material comes from for her exams. Lab Final this year was ridiculous!! BEWARE!!! PS. Skopik is the best!!
can we say BORING? JEZUS! spent more time passed the hell out in her class than i did taking notes. her quizes and exams are really specific, forget about the lecture notes, becomes friends with your textbook or at least the CD.she makes lab final bew
Nice professor. Very interested in what she teaches. Somewhat boring and proper, but a good professor. I never read the book - just go to class, print out her slides, and write down what she's saying, not what's on the slides. Tests on small details.
I have never encountered a more dedicated teacher...incredibly clear and helpful- tests are fair...really cares about her students (rare find- highly recommend!)
Not a good class at all. STAY AWAY. She screwwz u up in her grading scale. Hated this class
not an easy class at all, mandatory attendence couldnt even save me on the exams but thats probably because i slept most of the time anyway. i feel bad since she tries so hard but just doesnt get the job done
dion dion dion, lets see, 12 ques quizzes, miss two questions u have an 83 (B-)every week, mandatory attendance only if u dont have a cool group, had to read the book, take notes out of the book, memorize slides, tricky a*s tests, she sucks
worst teacher ever. tests were so hard and unfair. she has those stupid ass group problems too, or "pwobwems" as she says. yeah, she has a distracting lisp too. overall her class is just alot of work with very little learning.
Stay Away if your a Bio major FIND another teacher. Freshmen year is supposed to be easy because when you get to upper level clasess thats when it gets hard not for BIO 1. Stay away her test are CRAZY so are her Quizs just find another teacher.
This class was so hard. I changed my major from biology solely because of this class. If you can, do not take Dion, take Skopik if possible. The tests were so hard, and the lectures are deathly boring. She is a nice woman, but this was just not a fun class at all.
I like dion, she's a nice lady. I'm a bio major, so i find her class interesting. She can be boring at times, but her tests aren't that hard ( i got an 86 on the last one i took,) Study hard, do the online tests, ace the labs, and ull do fine!
She was really nice and paid attention to every detail. Just don't take her class if you don't like Power Point because that's all her class consists of, which is boring yet stress free. Exams/Quizzes are not too bad.
Prof Dion is a great teacher, if you are interested in biology. Her powerpoint slide help a lot when you go to study for her tests. Don't even bother reading the book, she picks the topics from the book that she wants to teach. Very nice lady, sorta boring class. Don't recommend.
I had the pleasure of taking Skopik for 207 and Dion for 208 and I loved Prof. Dion just as much as I loved Prof. Skopik. She's so well organized with her powerpoints (you don't need to read the book really) and she's extremely helpful and caring. Her quizzes and tests were VERY fair, if you prepare for them, they're easy. Don't have Jeff as your T
nice lady, everything straight out of power point notes. only need book to look up things mentioned in slides. fair tests.

Professor Dion was a great professor to have for entry level bio. When I had her back in 1995 she had not yet gotten tenure. I have since graduated from UD years ago, but I hope she has since become a FT professor. I really liked her teaching methods an
(honors) Easy to see that she really cares about subject. Lectures are mostly power point, and tests (only 2!) and quizzes are fair, as long as you read notes/pay attention/read book. Class was fun and interesting, very little homework. I would highly reccomend Prof. Dion for anyone who likes Biology and wants to enjoy learning while.
She is one of the few professors who appears to be really happy doing her job. She is always clear, easy to understand, and very approachable. Her lectures are straightforward and to the point for what she will expect of you on tests. A very level headed instructor who I would recommend taking for Bio208.
She is an excellent Biology professor. Her BISC 207 and 208 courses are well-organized, and if you read the textbook along with listening to lectures you will succeed.
very good! just print out the slides and bring them to class, then read in the book only what is on the slides for some extra info. much easier then mahaffy for 207. quizzes are as hard as test and worth alot so have to keep up with class.
Dr. Dion was/is an AMAZING teacher. I had her for both 207/208. Granted, 208 was relatively harder she is very clear and very approacable. Quizzes are important and a good merriweather to exams. I recommender her
very nice, idk i had trouble in the class and thought it was pretty hard
go visit her and she will then recognize you and class and be more willing to help you out.
a great person, always seemed genuinely happy and good to go to if you need help...challenging class but if you read notes/study youll be okay
best professor EVER!! Had her for 207 and 208, she is awesome. She is very clear and makes everything easy to understand. Go to class, not everything in the book is on the tests. Tests can be a little hard but study and you will do fine. TAKE HER CLASSES!
I love Professor Dion. She is the cutest women and is very helpful and approachable about any problems or questions you may have. I loved when she got really happy about boring topics..it made me laugh. Take her class. You will learn a lot!
Professor Dion is a sweet woman. she is very friendly. don't expect bio 207 to be easy it is very difficult. her tests and quizzes are very hard. she has powerpoint but make sure you listen and take notes during lecture. the lab for the class is easy. but be sure to review material. do NOT cram for her class, it never works.
very very nice teacher.. but dont let that fool you. her tests are insane and if you did not take AP Bio in high school you have no chance. my advisory is to take Skopik or Nowan for BISC 207. they are so much easier.
She is a very nice lady and will try to help you if you have a specific question, but she will never help you with what is on the tests. She is very vague and her tests of impossible. I studied for hours on end and I just couldnt get a good grade in her class. She doesn't help you in getting a better grade. Don't take her class, you will struggle!
if you study the powerpoints really well, you should be fine. her tests are challenging but usually fair. she really knows what she's talking about, so she can usually answer any question you have.
Worst professor since coming here, powerpoints and lectures are boring and hard to follow. tests do not test on concepts but specific expamples that she mumbles in class. be prepared to put in the effort of an A from skopik and get a C from dion, i was a 4.0 student until I was stuck with her
She's a really nice lady but I would highly recommend taking another teacher. I studied for hours would get a 50 on the test!
She's really sweet, but her tests are ridiculous. I audited the class because I was literally in danger of failing. She works off of the honors syllabus even if you're not taking an honors course. I would suggest taking another teacher over her but only because her class will probably ruin your GPA. she is really nice though.
One of the hardest professors I have ever taken, she is a very hard professor and her tests are impossible no matter how much you study for them, try taking another teacher if you can. This class is a GPA killer.
Not the easiest class in the world. The exams are very hard and if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Easier than the Nauen/Skopik class though.
Professor Dion is really an excellent teacher and professor. Her lectures, if you actually listen to them, are quite amazing and she has clearly thought through her entire lecture, trying to make it as clear and understandable as possible. The exams, multiple choice, were hard but surprisingly fair (your grade is how well you study). Rec for 208
Awful teacher. Studied VERY hard and still could only get a B-. Her notes are unfocused and make no sense and she asks the most ridiculous questions on her exams. Avoid if possible.
Fantastic professor- great lectures, good slides, very organized, all around wonderful and helpful person. Tests are extremely fair but you've got to study if you want to do well. Lab can be a bit tedious. Most successful PBL experience I've had in college.

This professor is the worst professor I have ever had. She is a very intelligent woman but passing this class is impossbile. There is no extra credit and no curve. I would highly encourage not to take this teacher. If you do, your GPA will be greatly lowered.
Such a tough class. Read EVERY chapter, outlined thoroughly and could tell you ANYTHING about everything we were assigned. STILL the tests were worded so difficultly and tricky I STILL got a C in the class. Very disappointing, avoid if at all possible.
This is the easiest biology class ever. i had AP credit, but decided to not use it since im going to med school. shes easy to understand and doesnt read the ppt to the class so take notes. i got an A on all her exams by just reading over my notes. def not as bad as everyone says. frequently puts 6 or 7 bonus questions on each test.
Compared to my last Biology Professor, Dion is pretty good. Her notes are based off Powerpoints (which is helpful when you don't feel like taking notes) and goes over them in class. Her tests are a mix between her powerpoints and the textbook; you can not get an A on a test on her notes alone. You need to read the textbook. Overall, good teacher!
Some tricky wording on tests, but if you pay attention in class and read the book it's not a problem. Also puts really easy bonus questions on every test. I outlined the chapters before the tests and consistently got high As. Has a few quizzes you also need to study for, you can't get by in this class without studying. Helpul and approachable.
One of the most difficult classes I've ever taken. She's a helpful woman, but her tests are impossible, and extremely detailed. You can study for hours and still just do either alright or badly. The labs are very easy. She teaches from power point slides, and lectures the entire time. VERY BORING, hard to stay focused. Wouldn't recommend her.
If you can help it do not take her for this course! The exam questions are extremely difficult and unfair. She expects you to remember the tiniest examples and even know some that were never talked about in class.
She is very helpful when you go to her office hours. The material is not that challenging but her tests are hard and tricky but if you study like two weeks before class, read your powerpoint slides, read the text book and make sure you remember the specific examples she gave in class you will be fine.
I usually try to give professors the benefit of the doubt, but Dion was not so great. Her tests were incredibly hard no matter how much I studied. If you are looking for a bio class where you go to class, read a little, and then do decently I suggest NOT taking it with Dion.
I thought that Dion was very knowledgeable, passionate, and devoted to her job as a professor. Her lectures were clear, organized, and highly detailed. Though you must study hard for her tricky exams& quizzes. Though the labs weren't bad, she does have anal policies.
I have mixed feelings about Dion's class. Her lectures are boring but very thorough. She posts all her notes online. Copy them BEFORE class because she SPEEDS through lectures. Labs are easy. Don't believe all the warnings. The subject-matter isn't hard, just a ton of it. I didn't once open the book but studied the notes religiously and got an A.
If you are planning to be a bio major this class should be a piece of cake but if you find yourself struggling in such an easy class you should maybe consider switching majors bc Dion is very knowledgeable and this is an INTRO class.
Took her for honors 207 and 208 and absolutely love her teaching style. Group exams & problem days are the BEST! Her tests/quizzes do have tricky questions, but she is an excellent teacher. Tests on what she lectures, not the random obscure facts that the textbook may mention. TAKE HER!
I took dion for 207 and i made sure that i got to have her for 208 as well. She really cares about her students, and their grades (she even changed the weight of an exam to make sure everyone got the highest grade possible). She is such a sweet woman, a grandma-like professor. Everyone loves her. But you definitely have to study her notes to do wel
Her class is organized very well. It's helpful that she puts her slides online her students to print out. If you can master the slides, you should do decent on the test.
she was a very knowledgable professor. she knew what she was talking about and she explained everything very clearly. Like previously said, if you master the slides you'll do well on the tests. But you have to know them inside out. She doesn't really use the textbook.
I took Dion for honors this semester, and I HATE BIOLOGY. That being said - my success/failure was not at all Dion's fault. She is a very very understanding, nice professor. She teaches from slides that are available on the internet, and all material is from lectures/slides. She doesn't use the book but I found it helpful for review/clarification.
I had her for honors BISC207. She's a great professor. She's always very clear and takes an effort to get to know and involve her students. If you review her notes and actually read the textbook you will do fine. (I swear by reading the whole chapter and taking notes a week ahead of the exam, trust me it works! I got an A)
A very nice and helpful professor. Mainly power-point lectures which got boring sometimes. Tests are straight from the power points, I almost didn't have to open my text to get an A. Much like AP bio!
I would try not to take her. The tests do not correlate with the notes and it is very hard to get above a B in this class.
Dion is a descent teacher, lectures off of power points and if you pay attention and study the power points you'l do fine. can get boring at times (but was also at 8:00 am). she never uses the book but it is EXTREMELY helpful to read. if you already had Bio in Highschool this class will be a real easy A
Her exams were very straightforward and based on her notes. You do have to study a lot, simply because you cover a lot of material. She wasn't incredibly engaging, but overall I learned a lot in her class and she was very fair.
If like professors that are boring, unwilling to help, egotistical and unclear at all times, take her. If not, avoid at all costs!!!
