Shes a good teacher because i learned a lot in that class, but i didnt like her very much, shes really intimidating sometimes....

Capable of great inspiration. I often left class walking on air from the great discussions. A true liberal artist who loves teaching. Not an easy grade, but the knowledge that you gain is well worth the effort involved.

whoever said that they dont like Ms. Elaine doesn't know what they are talking about. first of all if you would have tried in her class you would have liked it so don't rip on her. she is a great inspiring teacher and i love the way she teaches. i would take for every english class if i could.

English 101 with Ms. Elaine was definitely an eye-opener for me. I definitely made a lot of progress, thanks to her pushing me to revise, when I never used to be very big on revising.

I enjoyed the books and the discussions. The discussions helped me realize that how I interpret the events in a book and the hidden meanings behind them are not always what the author intended. Opinions vary between every person in the class; discussions helped to broaden my thoughts.

Really enjoyed this class and the instructor. Learned and developed my writing ability under her direction. Would love to take another class with her.

Difficult teacher, however if you take her it will make your foundation strong. Since she was hard in Eng 101, I was able to do well in 102 & 103.

I loved Miss Elaine! I see that people are giving her a bad rap, but she is a kind person who loves writing and teaching. She does demand a lot of her students, but you will learn so much! You should take her if you want to be a better writer. If you want to be lazy however, go somewhere else.

Great teacher. I took her in 0492 will take her again in English 101. I had no clue how to write correct english. I learned a lot and she was motivational.Take this class only if you want to learn. She is very easy and she gives students a second chance to complete assignments. You will truly learn.

Ms. Elaine is a very tough teacher with a very tough class,. However, she teaches this subject very well. I had no idea how to write properly before her class. Now I do. If you go to class, pay attention to what she says, and show improvement, her class is an easy A. She grades improvement. She really knows her stuf, yet participation is needed.

Really helpful teacher. Harder than average English class genuinely cares about helping other learn how to write well. Used to be an editor and has the ability to see mistakes that most can't which can be frustrating at times. However, in the end I became a much better writer because of this class.

Ms. Elaine is a hard teacher. However, you learn so much from her! I feel like my writing has improved so much because of her class. She uses the Chicago Public School's grading scale, which is stricter than most. Her classes are not for slackers! If you really want to learn to write better, take Ms. Elaine's classes.

I really don't get what people are complaining about. So far, I think she's been a wonderful teacher. Yes, she expects you to do the work but she's very fair and she's always available after class to help you out. She merely wants to see you progress and to learn something. Otherwise what are you doing in school in the first place? I love her.

She is the best English teacher I have ever had. I've learned more from her class than any other, although it was not easy. She puts a lot of effort into teaching; she genuinely cares about helping her students become better writers, better thinkers, and better people.

You will not be disappointed if you take her class and expect to work hard. I agree with other comments. Her class is not for slackers. She is an amazing teacher and person. She has not only helped better my writing skills but she has helped me in life. Her course is not only an English course. It's a course in finding who you really are. Amazing.

Mrs. Elaine is still by far my favorite teacher at COD. If you are willing to learn/ show some sort of interest she is willing to sit and help you out 1-1 until you understand and learn. I not only received an A, I actually learned how to properly write, and was able to skip into english 1101.

I don't see how she could have one bad review. Ms. Elaine is one of the best teachers I have ever had and I couldn't be more grateful! She is down to earth and more than willing to work with anyone at any point. Yes, there's work involved but guess what... YOU'RE IN COLLEGE. That's expected of you.. It would be a shame not to take her class!

I had Ms. Elaine for English 1101 and am so greatful to have had her. She really prepares you for college level writing. Yes, the class does require you to write a lot, but it is an english class. She is insighful, helpful, and the best English teacher at COD. Please take her class!

If you ask her questions she will really help you, but if you just show up and do what your told she'll be nice to you she really had hope for me

Young students don't like Ms. Elaine cuz she makes you work. She makes you think. And she expects you to act like an adult. But if you want to learn to write for your profession or for business work, etc., you will achieve that goal with her. And I think she's a fabulous teacher with a great sense of humor and honest life stories.

Overall, she is a very good teacher, brillant actually. She just challenges you to actually think and use your brain. The first few projects are tough but once you understand what she wants, it's easy. Do not take this class if you are not willing to actually work.

Very helpful. Honestly it is her goal to help you succeed. Also learn how to actually write professionally. I walked in thinking I am a good writer but when I took her class I realized I actually needed improvements and she is really helpful right there. I did not get the sacred "A" I wanted. However, professor Linda Elaine turned me into an accurate, specific, and precise writer. But most importantly, Elaine turned me into a critical thinker. My brother who took another English 1101 class, agreed that my works are much better than his. I told my brother; "two roads diverged in a yellow wood..."

I read the reviews for ms. Elaine and decided to take her anyways and make my own judgement. I'm glad I took the class. She made me think and pushed me to be a better writer. If you are looking to actually learn and want to put in effort definitely take her!

I took Ms. Elaine for freshman comp and got an A. She prepared me well for the next comp class, which was research. I used the strategies she taught to write my essay for scholarships. I got in the University I wanted to, and I know I wouldn't have if she had not been my freshman comp teacher. Thanks Ms. Elaine

I failed Eng 1101 twice before. The third time with Ms. Elaine, I aced it because she helped me see that writing wasn't my problem. The way I was thinking about writing was my problem. Anyone who wants to learn the true purpose of writing can't go wrong taking her class. You will read, write, see connections, and improve your writing skills.

I took with her my English 0491 she was the greatest English teacher I have ever see, not just that she is great women she is very wise women, you want learn from her experiience

Ms. Elaine is a wonderful teacher. She cares about the essence of education, which is the desire to learn and grow. If you just want to memorize things and be given formulas to crank out papers, don't take her. If you value your education and want to be challenged and prepared for your future, take her class.

Professor Elaine stands out as one of the better "hard" professors at the College of DuPage, and has passion and experience that gives weight to her teaching and feedback. She is very critical of students' work - if you're a bad writer with self-confidence issues, look elsewhere. But if you're passionate about writing, there's no better choice.

Ms. Elaine seems to be a tough cookie at first, but honestly she grades you on your individual improvement and not on if you are up to her standards or not. She does make you do mini summaries and responses in between the 5-6 papers, but they only help you when it comes time to write the papers. They are only 3 pages (NOT BAD AT ALL). Shes nice.
