She is the worst teacher ever!
The class is not easy-which it should not be anyway- most students taking this course are mostly health related students. She definately makes you earn it (AND SHE SHOULD). These students are our future Nurses, Radiologists, Physical Therapists...

Wish u Good Luck if u take her class. The subject itself is difficult but she makes it more difficult then what u think.
Difficult material....difficult teacher...not very "student friendly". Too many "trick questions" on exams.
The teacher is not difficult, the material is. Prof. Falkow takes what could be impossible subject matter and presents it in a clear, concise manner.Lectures are done Powerpoint slides.Listen, take notes, follow course outlines and don't fall behind.Great office hours/availability for her students.
This horrible woman made me change my major. I studied, hard, took notes, and got help from the tutoring center. She made me feel like such an idiot because I wasn't catching on as quickly as others. I had no confidence in her class. She should never be allowed to teach again.
Good presentation with powerpoint but her explanations too narrow and tied to those powerpoints. Bio is real life and she doesn't bring that into class. The vocabulary for this course is new and can throw you off...need to study and watch for them trick questions.
She is a good teacher in class but not friendly or approachable on 1:1
Clear in class, but terrible "beside manner," as they say. Comes off as a **** when approached.
Knew her stuff... but she was unclear and got mad when you didnt get it.... she would yell at us after each test. crazy lady, a little too into her work I think
Great A&P teacher. gave good handouts and good notes. Tough in exams but I cant deny that I learned so much from her. She was very helpful, even conducted a study group (at least for my batch). No matter how difficult it seemed before, now im in my nursing classes and look back to A&P im glad I had her!!!
not very helpful, her test is to hard, don't take the time to explain herself very well.
I felt this teacher was to complicated. To many power points, and got to involved in what she was trying to explain. She brought her personal life in to the classroom also. she took it out on the cell phones.
Had her for 103, taking her again for 104. I felt I learned a lot from her. Tests are tough - they make you think. A long as you keep up, it's not bad, though. Was able to see her after each test and ask about the questions I got wrong. Laid back class environment - lots of participation and explanations offered on tricky material.
she is hard as hell. Hard test and unclear lectures.
real **** should not be teaching anyone
What she covers is what is on the test. No surprises, but not easy. You have to apply yourself and commit to the class, but worthwhile information.
she is not a proffessor that I would ever reccomend to any one.
Bottom line is..she gives lextures, & you have to write the notes from the overhead... while you trying to get everything dwn b 4 she flips the screen, shes talkin ..at the same time...very hard to comprehend. She also is very snotty! Its very obvious that she teaches the course b/c she knows the material, but she can care less if you pass the cour
Difficult professor, will not help you. You are basically on your own. Need to study really hard and pay attention in lecture because you will get lost.
She was tough. Didn't explain very well. Did alot of studying and taught myself alot of the material. Always promt on answering email and friendly upon office visits. Explains things way over an average students head.
I don't know why everyone is rating her so low! I know she's tough but she does it because she wants to teach everything that we need to know and that you need to earn your grade. She can't just hand it to you without effort. Yes! she gives out lectures and you need to take notes but isn't that why we are in school in the first place...TO LEARN!
Condescending and critical, poor lecturer, lectures were incoherent and poorly organized, very stressful class. Study group was okay, but not comfortable, didn't lend much to the awful lectures. Someone should teach her how to lecture!
I took a different teacher for bio104 and put the SAME effort in (which was alot) and got an insanely better grade. We?re in school to learn, and she falls short of effectively teaching.
Good teacher, approachable but not easy. You need to put a lot of effort into this class. It's not an easy subject.fault lies w students, not teacher.Class was full of students who just wanted to pass &know what was going to be on the test rather than learn the material. That's prob the reason for the low rating. If you're lazy you will not do well.
Good teacher, very willing to help out students, has a good sense of humor, recommended
She lectures as if u already know the material! I ended up trying to teach myself most of the material and still stuggled. Alot of people on here are saying u will fail if u dont apply urself; i dropped a class to spend more time on the subject and if that isnt applying urself idk what is!!!
After having bio103 with Ron Smith, I found her class to be difficult, she is unwilling to help you during class hours instead insist on you figuring everything out on your own. Does not explain anything only reads the notes that are already writing down. She also lacks patience.
I was in her class literally for 4 days, and decided to drop it, and take another teacher...she is the worst teacher ever!!! She dosen't explain anything, and when you try to copy the notes, she talks and changes the prompts....she is very rude and mean, she should seriously retire!! If you want to struggle, be stressed out, and feel stupid, take h
Boring! She does not teach. She just stands in front of the class showing power point presentations which she goes through very fast. Very hard to write notes at the same time you are trying to learn and understand what she is saying.
She sucks!
I had falkow for bio 103 and bio 104 and i am thankful for that. Yes, she is more difficult then smith, but she makes you memorize everything and that helps you later on in nursing school. Those who are going into fields that require anatomy should take this teacher. If you just want to pass, choose a diff career.
Prof Falkow is a diffucult teacher. She does not explain anything, she asks questions that some people have never even heard of before. All she does is stand in front of the room and point to the projector, she does not explain anything. I wish I could drop her class and take a different prof, but its too late into the semester.
I had her for BIO 103 and BIO 104. She's a decent professor about teaching. She knows her stuff, but sometimes she expects you to be as well. I could tell she didn't like teaching BIO 103. She is so much better in BIO 104 and helpful to get a better grade in the class. She gives more extra credit quizzes in BIO 104 than 103.
I feel that prior ratings have not been fair. Professor Falkow is a good instructor. When you transfer to a 4 year university, the prof's will not hold your hand. You are ultimately accountable for your grade. This is a good class, good materials and the instructor makes herself available for help. I would be happy to have her for BIO 104.
Alot of these posts are really unfair. She is a great teacher to the students that are willing to put in the same effort that she does. We are going into the medical field and this is knowledge we should know. She does not accept lazy students or people not willing to put in the work. But if you are willing to work her tests are actually fair.
Anatomy is a difficult course overall. I had her for BIO104 and i struggled but she was more then willing to help. She is not the best at lecturing, she stands in front of the projector but when i started struggling I went to her. She was more then willing to help. GO TO HER STUDY GROUPS THEY HELP ALOT! she means well overall but be ready to work
Prof Falkow is more then knowledgable, if you attend the lectures, you will pass the tests. She is fair and answers all your questions.
While she has a good sense of humor I found her to have no patience. She can be very snippy sometimes and will not hesitate to make you look like an idiot in front of the entire class.I asked for help on numerous occasions during labs and I got an over-complex answer that did not help at all, I had to resort to my equally confused classmates.
These reviews are really unfair. You have to ask yourself how much you want to know this information. Is this course challenging? Absolutely. But professor Falkow makes sure you benefit from all the knowledge out there. The lectures aren't designed to teach but to write down the notes. Stay on top of work Ask questions, study hard, you'll do great.
no comment
Very good teacher. She cares a lot about her students. Very understanding in general. She doesnt like restating herself though or when people ask obvious questions so plan to speak to her privately. She taught me a lot though. Study hard and you'll do fine!
Not the best, not the greatest either though. I agree about having no patience.
Excellent professor. You will gain a lot from her if you attend her lectures. She is extremely knowledgeable that makes the test extremely easy. One of the best. I took with her bio103 bio104 and pathophysiology. Got A in the three subjects.
4 Exams + Final no H.W. + 10 Labs. Her Notes are more than enough.
4 exams+online extra-credit( a must do cuz it helps)+no H.W. Prof.Falkow is knowledgeable, teaches much more than what in the test, you will need to read ahead. Bio104 is easier than Bio103. Lab Cat was not that hard, almost everyone got an A-B+ average. Stay ahead of lectures&you will be fine I recommend Prof.Falkow!!Mccc lucky to have her!
Excellent Professor! I learned a lot from her. 4 exams and a final, extra credit is online. Labs are easy if you read ahead. Good luck!
Professor Falkow was a really good teacher. You could tell she just wanted everyone to learn. Anatomy is a hard class so there is no reason to blame it on her. Go to class, study the material and pay attention and you'll do fine. She made class fun, especially lab & there were even times when she let us out early!
I had her this semester and she is difficult. What do you expect? An easy A just because you show up? Do the work, work hard and always seek help if you are ever confused. I've maintained a B+ average all semester because I worked hard. It's a hard subject and if you're going into the health industry, you should know your stuff bottom line.
Prof Falkow was a great lab professor. Explained things very well and always answered my questions and helped me out. She did get a little snippy about cell phones, but the solution is easy: put it away!
She's one of those people who speaks about the subject so fluently so its as if she forgets she's teaching it and its more of a conversation where you are expected to know.
She made me learn and want to learn more.
I'm fresh out of high school and I took her for BIO103 and even with my experience with anatomy from hs, it was still difficult. I barely passed any tests because she didn't teach at all. She was very quiet and she would stay by the podium so no one really heard her. She might have experience as a nurse, but she can't teach. I wouldn't recommend it
She was okay for lecture. She just stands up at the podium and talks but she knows what she is talking about so it isn't that bad. If you can avoid taking Falkow for your labs, do it. She seems to get angry and frustrated when students ask her questions and that makes me not want to learn. Note cards are the key to getting a good grade!
Class is good but need to study and read before lecture.
my first time taking her for anatomy and honestly I did not like her. she moved very fast and hardly answered questions and she won't explain anything while she is speaking. taking her for lecture is tough but in lab she was better. She helped students with their questions and was more helpful. recommend to take her for Lab not Lecture.
Difficult professor, do not get her. You will suffer a lot she goes too fast on her lectures and you are forced into learning by yourself. You won't do well.
I would never recommend her to any student because she does not know how to teach.
I went to every lecture and came out of every single one not knowing what she said because she talks to the class as if we knew what she was talking about. She talks instead of teaching. I'd rate her a 0 if it was an option. Just don't do it
She was a great teacher! She knew her material and everything was very easy to understand, IF you pay attention. What you should watch out for are her tests. With no homework or quizzes you have to do well on the tests. The only thing I can say that will help you pass is: STUDY!! You really gotta know your stuff with this professor.
If you study hard and use all the tools you can (Mastering A & P and reading the textbook) you can get an A. She goes through lecture quickly. I had her for lab and she was helpful and explained things well. She is fairly strict and really no-nonsense but it makes it easier to focus. Pay attention in class and don't get behind.
Professor Falkow may not be the best anatomy professor but she is certainly not the worst. She pushes her students to work and think hard thus the challenging material! But who doesn't love a good challenge? No, it was not my favorite class but I learned SO MUCH about the human body. Mercer is lucky to have her fo' sure!
Had her over the summer for Chem she is straight to the point and tell you exactly what's on the test it's sped up during the summer but I think it helps you retain the information more, lab are fun and interesting and tests weren't too hard ended up with a B!
She is the worst teacher you can possibly take.
worst professor ever. shes old she thinks we know how to do everything . well shes been teaching the course for 40 years, we havent . instead of taking her just take the stupid lecture class online. all she does is read off the powerpoint . thanks but i can do that at home .
Shes very knowledgeable; however, shes not a good teacher. She speaks as if you already have the knowledge rather than teaching. I would not suggest taking her.
She is honestly awful. She talks to you as if you should already know the material when it is her job to teach it. This professor does not explain in detail. You have to go home and self teach yourself. I higly recommend that if you have the option to not have her as a professor to choose someone else.
Worst class ever. She teaches like you are supposed to know the information. I learned nothing from her lectures. It requires for you to teach yourself which was hard to do and I show up to class to be taught not to have to go home and do it myself. Waste of time.
I've been at Mercer for 3 semesters and Falkow is is the worst professor I've had! I'm very surprised administration has kept her! She knows her stuff but her teaching skills are NOT effective at all! Be prepared for reading the lab manual on your own, it's the only way you'll pass. If you see her on your schedule- choose another professor!
had her for bio 103 lecture, the lectures in her class are hard. she gets mad when you ask to go back on a slide and shell go fast and she wont try to explain anything shell just read EXACTLY whats on the slide...
Just don't take this class. PERIOD. Don't get me wrong, she knows her stuff but she doesn't know how to help YOU understand if you're struggling, which last time i checked was what I was paying for. She also embarrassed a student in front of a full LAB rather than waiting for the class to clear out. Lesson learned? Don't take Falkow.
Shes horrible! All she does is read off the powerpoint but doesnt actually teach. It gets very boring quickly. Basically teaching myself while paying to take this course... waste of time. Do not take her.
Professor Falkow comes off as a no nonsense kind of teacher but she's very understanding. The problem I see with the negative reviews are from students who expect her to tell them everything without opening the book. Pure laziness. Falkow is actually a very good professor who has a bad rap on here.
Online labs are typically 30 minutes long for what is supposed to be a 3hr class. Doesn't give any additional information outside of her powerpoints. Is not understanding or adaptable to the new online setting. Average grades for the first exam across her classes were in the mid-60s. Be prepared to teach yourself all of the material or fail. Worst.
Following up to prior review.. Had Falkow pre-covid & failed. Took the course again and passed with Grace DeFelippis for Lecture and Rachael Klaus for Lab. Falkow knows her stuff, after all she's the head of A&P, but doesn't know how to keep you engaged and feeling confident. If you like that only read from slides, teach yourself, she's your gal.
Had to take her online class cause of Covid and she just reads from the slides. Didnt even give any extra credit to help boost our grades up even though she knew our class average was low.
My anatomy professor did online classes, because i missed one of my lab practicals she was nice enough to double my final points. i emailed her to see if i can go over the final and she agreed but then cancelled. I emailed her to see when she would be free no email back. she also didnt answer the email that i sent about my double points for final.
Professor Falkow certainly isn't the best teacher. However, she is very fair and offers extra credit. She gives you all of the information you will need for the exams. You have to put in the work, but you have detailed information at your disposal. I had no issue getting an A in her class when I put in the work. I'll be taking her again for Bio104.
Took BIO103LAB and absolutely loved her. She is a wonderful professor who teaches well, double-checking with us to see if we got it or not, and goes over and over again. I think Students make it hard for themselves because they forget to go over the materials before coming to the LAB and actually participating. If you want an A, work for it.
Test questions are confusing and get ready to study because she will ask questions on the smallest things. Gave wrong information at times and doesn't engage students except when reviewing (which I don't think really counts). The only good thing is that you can get 20 extra points if you do the textbook quizzes.
I took her online class. She is terrible. She reads off the slideshow. She doesnt engage with her students. She is rude. And her test are very hard
I absolutely loved her. My first impression was not initially that. She explains things very well. Her tests are hard but her reviews do match the test (for the most part). She is a hard professor. Spelling counts! But is very clear with what she wants on the lab practicals.
Dont know how the hell a passed but I did. The tests progressively get harder. Also she does not engage with students at all, you either ask questions or suffer in silence. However she does offer a little extra credit. Good luck.
She is very knowledgeable. She is great at explaining the course and has good ways to remember certain subjects. She does count spelling on her lab practicals and looks for very specific answers. She was always willing to help out with questions. I really enjoyed her labs!
This class is hard but not impossible. The worksheets and reviews help a lot! I personally love Falkow, it think shes great! She definitely knows what shes talking about. If youre struggling, shes always willing to help. Spelling is very important. Youll lose points if a term isnt spelled correctly.
while shes very knowledgeable about the topic is she is teaching her ability to be patient with students who are struggling and need her help are very lacking. If you have a question or need help she will often embarrass you or make you feel inferior just because you asked. very rude not patience or helpful.
Honestly I thought she did well to explain though her lectures were fast paced. She gives you lots of material to study from. Textbook isn't mandatory but may help understanding.
actually one of the worst classes i have ever taken no joke. i dont recommend this professor at all please do not take her. she is not a good teacher. her lectures basically consist of her half way reading the slides and you can barley hear her. she does NOT care about her students. the test averages were usually 63.3% every time. expect to not pas
Pro Falkow wasn't the easiest teacher, do not expect her to hold your hand. She reads fast off PowerPoints, skim textbook and fill in study guide BEFORE class! She will add extra during class that isn't on her print outs. Offers MANY resources, USE THEM! Make yourself familiar with medical terminology, spelling is important!
Her lectures aren't good at all; the class average is 66%. She gets mixed up with her words easily, reads off slides, and has these awkward pauses. She does a bit better in lab, but her lab practicals are strict on spelling. In general, she can come off as rude and her jokes could be awkward. Her e.c. can be great though and studying is fair game
Her lab was not bad at all she was actually a good teacher for that. Lecture on the other hand is very difficult if you don't set a lot of time to study and really know the material. Take advantage of Mastering, I wish I had (20 ec points). Don't study day before or even a few days before the test. Unless you're a good test taker, you wont do well.
By far the hardest class I've taken. She has well knowledge of the course but she goes through slides way too quickly and doesn't really explain and give real world scenarios, she basically reads out of the slides. I would totally recommend doing Mastering, it definitely helped. Also create a small group study and go over materials.
study
She was OK although her teaching style is not for everyone she is very lecture heavy and doesn't really explain basically just reads off the PowerPoint presentation this class is kind of difficult but to succeed all you have to do is study a lot.
Read off slides most of the time and then showed videos. I never felt like I was learning important concepts, and exams got harder each time. I didn't use the textbook for 103 and passed with a B. 104 was even more difficult and she was not very responsive or considerate. The book used to write down notes also was disorganized, take other professor
It's important to arrive in time otherwise you'll miss important review questions and go over what you've missed on exams. Amazing lectures, inspirational, best professor, respected and with little humor. I loved her lecture and I would like to thank her one day when I become a nurse.
You really need to put in the time and effort outside of class to perform well, just attending and paying attention to the lecture doesn't really stick. Review notes daily, read over textbook chapters, and don't study the night before a test; trust me you probably won't do well.
Lectures are horrible. She read slides without any explanation, assuming prior knowledge. Questions annoy her, and she is rude. The class average was consistently low, yet she never considered her teaching as the problem. This class is waste of time and money, I taught myself everything. Wish I could rate her lower. Avoid her if possible. BRUTAL.
I would not take this professor again, she just reads her ppts and that is it.
Doesn't answer emails, humiliates students in front of the whole class because of their writing (saw it twice), corrects herself often during lab
Took Prof. Falkow for BIO 103, now for BIO 104. BIO 103 was tough, but I retook her class and learned how to manage. She goes through slides quickly but is nice and wants you to succeed rather than fail. Go to her office hours if you need help. She's better in the lab than in lectures.
Didn't properly teach material and isn't a great help
The professor needs to understand tha she is in the classroom to teach and answer student's questions. Her job is to teach, not to expect the student to know all the answers, and especially not to ridicule or make jokes in front of others about their questions. We pay a lot for these classes to learn. I wish this teacher could understand that.
only reads ppts in lecture, very unhelpful and most of the stuff on the tests isnt even what she goes over in lecture or lab. She says the Mastering is not needed but it is because it gives the information she wont give in class.
just awful. doesn't give info in class or on notes then it'll be on tests. expects you to remember absolutely absurd amounts of information within short periods of time. only goes over powerpoint in class, that again is brief and doesn't go over everything you need to know for tests. u need to get a textbook and packet from library too.
Im serious abt studying,so if you are serious about passing BIO 103,dont take her as your professor. She just read the slides, she doesnt explain & when we ask questions she will let you feel that you should have known the answer. She made me feel not to want to study again doesnt explain well.I withdrew her subject and never took her again.Horrible
Lectures are tough as the professor tends to rush through slides. However, using resources like Mastering, study groups, and Unstuck study can really help. Stay on top of the material - this class requires consistent effort, but it's doable with the right approach.
She just reads through the slides. She has favorites and she is a super tough grader. She doesn't help you at all. Do not take her.
This professor I don't know if I should call her professor because if reading a powerpoint in class makes you get paid and have the title of professor I would be a great professor too. She doesn't replies the emails. The exams are hard because she says that you have to study from the powerpoint.
The material is very heavy and its a lot of information all at once and her teaching does nothing for you. All she does is read off the slides for lecture. Her test are DIFFICULT. The multiple choice questions are so hard. I went to every single class and studied so much and still failed. The way she words the questions make no sense. Avoid her!!!!
If you think Reading PowerPoint is what teaching is, then you are wrong! Do not spend you money to pay for someone to read and bunch of info, choose someone else who does it by heart and know that a student is here to learn. Awful!!!
