Linda is so nice, both as a teacher and as a person. There are a lot of quizzes in her class, but she likes to give extra credit to bump up your grade. Plus, she lets you drop two quiz grades, if you need to. Linda is very good at teaching the material and works with you to help you understand the material.
She is my favorite professor so far this year. If things work out I am planning to take 2 of her classes next semester. I mean in her class you truly have to work for your grade but if you are in class and pay attention you will do really well in that class. She also drops your 2 lowest quizzes so if you are struggling in the beginning don't worry.
Linda is my favorite professor. She is very detailed in all her classses, gives extra credit, and really cares about her students (both those doing well and struggling). If you pay attention, show up, and do the work assigned you can easily walk away with an A. I highly recommend this class, not only because of the material, but because she is A+
I hated this class. It was so disorganized and moved so fast. She only holds office hours one day and because I had class I could never attend. She quizzes you every other class on material that hadn't been taught yet. I basically had to teach myself.
great teacher. came into the year with no economics knowledge and she made it easy and clear. shes very clear with the assignments and what needs to get done when. she will send emails letting you know what is due next class (including quizes and tests). Shes very invested in her students and their well-being. im taking her again next semester
She was my favorite professor this past Semester. She is extremely knowledgable on the information, but is capable of teaching to students with all experience backgrounds. She sends emails out all the time, so you always know what is do, what you need to study, and where you stand in her class. Highly recommend her.
I really didn't like how she gives tests every week on the material she didn't teach yet. I would recommend her if you really like economics and like studying for the next section that is going to be assigned for next class.
I love this professor. I am going to minor in Economics because of her. I understand the material and actually learned it. She gives quizzes once a week but they help you on the test. Her tests are not easy but she prepares you well for them. She is amazing and if you take econ, please try and get into her class. You will take so much out of it!
As a person Professor Fisher is awesome, but as a teacher I was not a fan. Quizzes once a week that require you to study a whole lot leading up to them. She goes really fast when she is teaching. At times it seemed like she was doing whatever she could on a test/quiz that will trick the student. Go to office hours if you are struggling. It helps.
Awesome teacher, but goes fast sometimes lots of activities and hardowork required.
Linda is the best professor I have had so far. After taking microeconomics with her I just had to get into her macro class. She is extremely clear and sends out plenty of reminders when work is do. She will never quiz or test you on something she did not say would be on there. Quizzes every week on past notes and vocab. Majoring in economics now!
Definitely avoid. One of those teachers that do not write explanations on the board; have to listen to everything and where 89.99 is still a B, Quizzes on the textbook and homework are irrelevant, tests are hard. Need to have explanations for graphs word for word. Lord help you if you don't have colored pencils and a NORMAL 4 function calulator too
Quiz at the end of every week on a chapter reading that was not taught yet. She keeps track of participation points and calculates it into final grade. Lots of class discussion. This class makes you work hard for your grade. The great benefit of taking this class is that a 97 or above gets you exempt from the final. If you are a hard worker, TAKE.
Very helpful professor. She lets you know when she is available ahead of time and shes there. Only complaint is the participation and quiz every week. Other than that I really enjoyed her class and she is very nice.
A quiz every week and they are very hard and confusing, tough grader, no partial points.
Honestly one of the better economics teachers at Quinnipiac. She is very clear about the weekly quizzes every Wednesday, but as long as you pay attention in class and read the text book, they're fine. She explains things very easily and she tells you what you will see on the tests. Very few tests and the online homework is an easy A.
She cares more about marking down "participation points" with her expo marker than answering questions and helping you understand the material. Weekly online homework & weekly quiz on the next chapter. Quizzes difficult but exams super easy. Always write down more than the question is asking because she'll mark you off anyways. BRING YOUR COLORS!
Linda tends to focus more on who is participating rather than trying to teach you all of the material. She makes it known that she is available for extra help and clearly states her office hours. Doesn't let you ask her questions before a quiz or test. Don't forget your colored pens! (and basic calaculator)
Fisher is a difficult professor. She isn't horrible but she isn't great. And she's pretty rude.
Linda is pretty great! Really sweet woman that really gives you the opportunity to ask questions during class. Memorable class experiments that helped grasp concepts. Although she won't answer questions before tests and quizzes they are usually pretty simple and easy.
Quizzes are very hard. I would not recommend her.
Horrible teacher who makes up the lectures on the spot. The textbook doesn't help at all. Quizzes are tough. If your answer is not exactly what she wants it's wrong. Would not recommend this professor.
Linda is the best professor I've had so far. She's very caring for her students and is highly respected by them. There is a homework due every week online but they are very easy, quick and are grade boosters. Quizzes on Friday, usually aren't hard though. Whether you're an econ major or just need the credit take it with her!
Linda is truly an angel. She is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about economics but also really cares about her students, and it shows. Participation definitely matters, but you can give wrong answers and still get credit for participating. You definitely have to work in this class but quizzes and tests are easy if you study the material.
Linda Fisher is one of worse professors at Quinnipiac. She assigns so much homework and overcomplicates all the material she teaches.
Linda is very difficult! She's an extremely harsh grader, it doesn't matter if your graph is correct, what matters is you drew it in the correct color. She gives weekly reading quizzes and quizzes based off of what was covered in the reading, even if she hasn't yet covered certain concepts in class. There's no curve, other professors are easier.
Linda is an amazing woman. Yes she is tough, but she only because she knows your capabilities and wants you to really learn something from the material she is teaching. Linda will never let her students just fail & do nothing, she will always help you out and/or find someone who can help you. She teaches in a unique & beneficial manner.
Linda is a super nice lady and seems very passionate about economics. However, I made the mistake of taking her class. The first half of the semester is not bad at all as long as you keep up with the work and do well on the Friday quizzes. However, it seems that things are very rushed during the 2nd part of the semester where you will fall behind.
She states her opinions as facts, can get very political.
her quizes are designed specifically to trick you, theres often unclear use of language in the phrasing of the question as well as multiple correct answers, but you have to select the one that she considers to be "the most correct".
Professor Fisher is a very kind lady who really wants you to do well in her class but she makes you work for it. She gives small quizzes EVERY Friday which can be hard for some people. Her tests are easy. She does lecture almost every class and her notes can get a little messy.
She is a very disorganized professor, she hardly knows what she is teaching about, the class consist of just watching her draw graphs on the board with little to no explains. This class is extremely note heavy and since she does not explain her notes you basically have to be tutored.
Test every Friday, but are pretty easy. Really explains the material each week and gives good practice sets that reflect questions on quizzes and tests. Always accessible through email and office hours, attendance and participation are very important. Would take her again!
Participation is HUGE with Linda. Great lectures, willing to answer questions inside and outside of class, also very accessible outside of class. She tries to bring in examples from the real world to help students better understand the material. Great professor, would highly recommend!
Overall very difficult teacher. You have to put in a lot of hard work to do well. Online homework due every Thursday and quizzes every Friday. Linda cares about her students and wants them to pass. If youre looking for an easy teacher with minimal work, definitely choose someone else. However, if you really want to learn about Economics choose her
Gives a ridiculous amount of work. Homework due every Thursday night and quiz every Friday. Like going out Thursday nights? You won't pass the class cuz you have to memorize the chapter reading and know how to do every graph. Is a decent teacher and is available when you need help but just gives to much stressful work.
Good teacher, homework every week but it's a good way to learn a lot in those classes. She is available for office hours and by email. Very flexible and understanding. She is a tough grader but with work you can have good grades.
Great professor if you are ready to put in the work. I highly recommend her for Econ majors/minors, her students always understand the material the best. She really respects her students and if you stay on top of your work you'll get an A. She gives 2 tests and a final but you'll be prepared for every test.
A very good teacher even if the class is hard.
She'll make you work for it, but by the end of the class, you'll know your material. Put in some work and you'll do very well. She wants to see her students succeed not only in her class but beyond.
Gives homework due every Thursday and has quizzes every Friday; put effort in and these will help your grade immensely. Takes time to make sure her students understand the material not only from day one but before each test. Try and you'll understand the material very well.
Lectures are all over the place,. She is a very nice women but is hard to learn from. Pretty much you have to teach yourself because you cant understand the past pace lectures which are very unorganized. Like at your risk.
She was an amazing teacher and even though Im not an Economics major, I wish that the class could have been for a whole year instead of just a semester. She is caring and as long as you try your best, you will do great. She uses group work in order to 1) get you to participate more and 2) to make you feel more comfortable in class.
I loved this class and this professor and am taking her again for Macro. While she does give quizzes every Friday, they definitely prepare you for the tests. If you put in the effort you will do great in this class. She is very clear on what to expect during class and for assignments. Highly recommend
She is rude and gives quizzes every Friday. You have a regular quiz on what you learned that week and a reading quiz from the book, but she doesnt go over or use the book so the reading quizzes absolutely suck. Her exams are hard she doesnt give enough examples in class and if youre not someone who likes to talk drop the class youll do terrible
She is honestly one of the best teachers I have had, I am an accounting major and considered switching to economics. She is caring and wants you to succeed in the class. You do have to put in work to get a good grade, but it isn't that much work and it is easy to get a good grade just do what is required to do and you'd be fine. 100% take her
Linda is a very organized professor. Assignments are very easy to locate on Blackboard, grades are always up-to-date and updates are always posted to Blackboard and emailed. She teaches very clearly, and constantly checks to make sure everyone understands the material. Participation is very important and things MUST be done her way.
I loved Linda. She really cared about her students and how they did. You have to work for your grade but as long as you pay attention during notes, do the practice sets and skim the textbook sections you'll do fine. Becasue of Linda I have become an economics minor. Her tests are straight forward and based off the quizzes. I would recommend.
This class was absolutely horrible. She gives quizzes every Friday on the reading from the textbook. her way of teaching is difficult to follow. If you miss one class she automatically takes off points and participation matters a lot so make sure you are active in class.
Just like the demand curve my liking for her is down sloping. She is not a very helpful teacher in and out of the classroom. When she reviews for exams she flies by them, probably just to show the class she can speak fast about economics, but other than that she's useless. Her personality makes you want to throw the book at her, she is just bad
Took Linda for micro and macro. Came into college not sure about my major and after her class I changed my major to economics. The toughest teacher I've had, but if you really want to learn about economics and put in the effort she is your teacher. Do not take her if you want an easy economics class.
So many tags I wish I could give her. - Gives good feedback - Respected - Lots of homework - Accessible outside class - Get ready to read - Skip class? You won't pass - Inspirational - Clear grading criteria - Hilarious - Amazing lectures - Caring - Tough grader It's a lot of work but it is totally worth it. She is smart, helpful, and passionate.
Lectures way too fast. Reviews were unhelpful. When you ask questions she just repeats what she said instead of going over it in greater detail. Quizzes a new topic every few days, which makes the pace of the class too fast. Came out of this class without fully understanding the basics of econ because she wouldn't teach it to us.
I'm sure she cares about her students in her own way. She definitely has the mentality of you have to work really for a mediocre grade. Without being said, her class is fast-paced, gives out much homework and a self teaching class. You learn a lot but you teach yourself for the most part. She can be rude and come off strong and blunt with no care.
Went from being an A student to just going down in this class. She is bias against her students. To review for her exams is impossible. She expects so much from you, but fails to realize that you have other classes. You have to teach yourself and makes you read from the textbook. If you care about your health and sanity, choose another professor.
Let's just say she can make you feel like you are not even worth it to be a student. This class is mentally draining and time consuming, it's as if this professor does not realize that students have other classes to attend to. You can work very hard and come out with a terrible grade. Your GPA, heath and sanity will suffer with this teacher.
She made me regret becoming a business minor. Don't take her class.
She is very inflexible with deadlines, there is always a lot of work to do every week, and if she could have class on the weekend, she would. If you are in her class it is as if no other class matters but hers so be prepared to do her work. Is very passive aggressive and will always find problems with your work no matter how hard you tried.
Hard Professor Strict Had office hours Weekly quizzes Tough Said we should put in 9 hours a week outside of class to do work for her
Professor Fisher is a nice lady but not as your professor. She gives an insane amount of homework due at an awful time frame when we havent even learned some of the material yet. She only likes the ones who answer questions in the class. if you don't speak your grade will suffer.
genuinely cares about her students. I missed class one day and an assignment so she sent me an email to make sure I was doing okay. not many other professors would do that. is crystal clear about what she expects from her students so it's easy to get a good grade if you do exactly as she asks. tests are also pretty simple if you studied
There is a lot of work for Professor Fisher outside of class and in class. Really caring person and she is always available for help. If you take Professor Johnson, its a quick three test 33.33% each, no attendance required, no participation, just show up and do well on the tests. Either a Linda or Donn person. Both good just different styles
Professor Fisher is one of my favorite professors. She teaches in a way that summarizes the information perfectly and her tests reflect her lectures perfectly. Participation is a huge factor in your grade, so make sure to do so. However, if you participate a lot and earn a high enough grade you are able to be exempt from the final exam!
I liked her teaching style, but she is very difficult at times. Her teaching style works for some, but definitely not all. Participation matters and you need to be willing to put in the work.
I loved Linda. I took economics in high school and failed the class but she teaches so different. I passed without even having to take the final and so did most of my friends. Her grading system makes every assignment optional, and you only benefit from doing the work, you're not penalized for missing assignments. I am taking her for macro too.
She's a great and nice caring person but she sucks as a teacher. I actually dont know what to say. I need to get out of this class and theres just no open seats at all in Johnsons class. Its awful first week messed up and saved hw for last day. its like 3 hours worth of hw who in the world wants to do that, rethink yourself as a professor.
Mrs. Fisher is a terrible professor. She is condescending and demeaning towards kids who she holds slight grudges (for whatever reason, literally petty). She likes to interject her political opinions in the class along with assign us homework that takes a few hours out of the week. Very tough class, do not take if you aren't ambitious/care
Professor Fisher lacks human sympathy and understanding. She tries very hard to connect with her students but it's clear she has favorites. Studying and doing homework is very time consuming and doesn't reflect in your grade a lot of the time. She likes to make things as hard as possible, would avoid at all costs.
She is going to make you work but she really cares about if you're learning and about the subject in general. It's definitely not an easy A but she really makes sure you learn and is super sweet.
Why even bother. She expects you to put in atleast 9 hrs worth of work for her class. NEWSFLASH, some of us have more important classes to worry about than your class. She also holds grudges against people who don't study economics, like stop trying to convert me to change majors, why can't professors just be respectful of what we want to study
Linda is the type of professor where if you are willing to put in the work and do as she ask you will succeed. There are weekly readings from the textbook and quizzes with a couple of heavily weighted tests. Linda cares and if you do the work, you will be fine. If you are not willing to put in the effort, I would not take Linda for any class.
While you are in class it's clear that she is too tough about grading. She has no sympathy and she is a terrible resource for help, she expects everyone to have 9 hours of studying a week while I have to take care of 5 other classes.
Linda was a great professor who cares about her students. If you plan on showing up to this class and trying to coast by don't take her you will have to earn your grade in her class. She has a bad rep for being to hard but if you try hard and do your work you'll learn to appreciate her teaching
Extremely difficult professor
Good at teaching concepts but very inflexible. You will have to study a lot for this class so don't take it if you have a hard course load or expect to get sick and miss class more than twice.
Awful
the sweetest lady ever! was nervous becoming an econ major but she made me love the subject. its clear she cares about her students and only wants them to succeed. participation matters, gives extra credit, and has very informative office hours. she even drops two of your lowest quiz grades and weighs grades to give you your highest score.
She's on the academic integrity board and she tried to trap me into an AI case. Automatic write up if anything is "incorrectly cited" even if unintentional. She forced me to hand in a 1st DRAFT when I said I wasn't ready to, then threatened me w it. She didn't care that my graduation date got pushed back + extra tuition bc I had to drop her class.
People have very mixed feelings about Linda. She is a good person and cares about your learning. However, that means that she will put you to work. You have to understand the material like the back of your hand in order to do well in her class. She is very helpful if you have any questions. Make sure to stay on top of you work and you'll do fine.
Means well i think, but the literal definition of overkill in a class. Expects too much of students in terms of hours needed to do well. Also is insanely particular about her classroom to the point where she complains every time someone leaves the room (even for the restroom) and locks the door on them. This is a 100 level economics course. Relax
I had this professor for two semesters, she is leaving after this semester and that is a real loss for the students at Quinnipiac. She doesn't just teach Economics she teaches you how to be a better student. If you do her class correctly you will learn more than you can imagine. Her office hours are the best thing ever. She is truly here for you.
Prof. Fisher is a very strict tough grader and her participation points system is rigged. If a student gives a bad impression in the beginning by not handing in something on time for example, she will stereotype that student as "bad student" in her head and it shows in the points. It is very difficult to redeem oneself after as she is unforgiving
Her expectations for time invested into the class are too high because we also have multiple other classes and it is hard to keep up with everything. She tries to be buddies with the students which is a bit unprofessional. It gets awkward as the students don't actually like her like that and they are just being nice because she is the professor.
Linda is phenomenal, and it is a shame she won't be back at QU after this semester. She's super caring about her students, goes out of her way to make connections with them, and offers them assistance in anyway that she can. The course is difficult, but she gives you all of the resources and opportunities that you need to succeed.
Do not take this professor unless you absolutely have no other choice. If a student has a complaint about Linda Fisher, it is impossible to express that complaint without fear of retaliation from her because she talks badly of students to other profs which could affect the other profs impressions of the students or even neg. influence their grading
Linda is an amazing professor! She is very caring. Basically all of the comments you read on here, negative or positive, are true. The work you put in is the work you get out!!! This was my toughest class but I loved it. I chose to take her again in the spring semester.
GOAT Professor.
