She is one of the worst teachers I have had.Got a B in the class, but her tests are ridiculous in what she expects you to do (essays where you must mention all 25 things she wants or you bomb it).She assigns projects in the lab w/o directions!
WOW.. what to say. toughest class i took at SPJC. I think the professor has alot to do with you taking in the information. my word of advice is find a good teacher for A&P look at some of the clearwater professors instead maybe, i've heard good things.

BEST TEACHER I EVER HAD, LEARNED ALOT AND HAVENT FORGOTTEN A THING
I did not like her teaching methods. She is a very boring teacher.
her class could have been interesting but the lectures were stale and the tests were too tricky. i got my first and only college C in her class.
One word, IMPOSSIBLE! She more or less starts you with a C and says goodluck doing better. There are much better professors at the St. Petersburg/Gibbs campus, such as Ross Brightman and Beverly Grundset.
THE WORST EVER
She has very unorganized lectures and speaks in monotone. No enthusiasm in her voice at all. Most of the students in my class had taken her class before and dropped/failed it. I don't know why they would take her again. I do not recommend her at all!
Man this class was tough. Her lectures bounce all over and are unclear. Over half the class was gone before the drop date. I workd real hard for a C but many were not so lucky. She speaks in monotone and it's hard to stay awake sometimes.
Had her for an online class. Big mistake. She hates teaching through technology. She seemed decent enough, so classroom might be okay. Just stay away from her if she's ever online again.
I really liked her online class, I thought she made everything very clear and her tests were no harder than they needed to be. The worst part of her class is the mid-term and final - they were very comprehensive and long!

I believe that she makes this class alot harder than it actually has to be. I got a D in her class and retook it @ clearwater w/ McGraw and got an A.
Really hard professor, but as soon as you take organic chem, you realize that she wasn't as hard as you thought. First day of class, informs you that you MUST spend 20 hours a week studying for this course. I studied 10-15 hours a week...i did well
she is the worst professors i have had the misfortune of experiencing! she has been quoted as saying, "i design my tests so that you'll fail." that attitude is completely counter-productive. we need teachers to help us succeed, not to help us fa
I took Dr. G last semester and got a D and had to take it over again. I hated her at first, but then realized it was my fault. If you study like she says you'll do fine. She is always ready to help if need it. A little easier this semester.
I thought this class was very hard and boring. She gives way to much information that we dont need which makes it hard to study. I studied ALOT and only made a high c.
Dr. G is extremely challenging. It is difficult to pass her tests with an A or B. Memorize her notes from her website and know info that she tells you not to worry about in lecture that is from her notes. Pay attention to detail. Know the material.
Dr.G is very hard and very detailed. I think since she knows anatomy so well that she just lectures as much as possible without slowing down and explaining things clearly. If you want to pass her class memorize the entire content from A-Z!
This teacher is very hard.
Everyone is right on point about Dr. G......DON'T TAKE HER TESTS LIGHTLY....just study every question under her objective section on her online notes...it is alot of info but study and understand EVERYTHING...you will do fine..
When I took her, we went from 33 student to 11 students. SHE SUCKS! If you value your GPA at all, find another anatomy teacher, maybe at another campus. Who knows why she is still teaching. Not helpful, not understanding! 100 fill in the blank, no answer key, tests! Good luck!
She was a nightmare. She gave us a lot of thing that we were not needed (as dimensional analysis - why would you need it for AP I Lab??), I have studied a lot and barely made a C. DO NOT TAKE HER. Every class complains on her, I can't believe she is still teaching.
Everyone told me this class was going to be hard. I watched a lot of students drop her class because she was very detailed. I studyed a lot but in the end it was definetely worth it. She prepared me for A & P II.
Ms. G is ridiculously hard, but thats because there is an immense amount of information in Biology. If you study for her tests by using her notes, you will ace the class (i did). If you aren't majoring in biology, save yourself the time and take something easier.
I took her class and she is so unclear and isn't helpful at all. She goes right out of the book and skips around, making it more confusing. DO NOT TAKE HER she is a terrible teacher.
Explains things clearly. If you are willing to study hard this class if beneficial.
So far the best teacher I have had in the SPC system. Her class is challenging but she tells you this at the beginning. She goes out of her way to give students many chances to improve their grade. I learned more in this class then in the rest of my class this semester combined. GO Dr. G!!!
Doc G is awesome! I loved her class, we learned sooooo much! She really does care about her students, and works with them to get them the best grade (but the one they deserve as well). Not an easy A, but surely worth all the work. Awesome awesome teacher. Definitely recommend!!!
UGH. Worst teacher ever. I got A's in A&P I and II (with other teachers), but failed Biology with her! She reads from power point and takes all questions from the book test bank. Horrible. And this is stuff you need to know for entry to med school and stuff! She will turn you off from biology.
very unclear, jumps around a lot, tests are hard, she's boring, not helpful and the list goes on!! All I can say is good luck with this class...she is a terrible teacher and her Lab is just as bad!!
I would srongly suggest taking a different teacher. The material is hard enough on its own and she does very little to help understanding it. I have never worked so hard for any class.
She can be tough but you learn the material and retain it. she has many ways of helping the student too.
she is not for the feint of heart. But if you want to learn something she is the teacher for you.Do all the extra credit, make copies of all the objective answers and take all practice exams. She loves synthesis of systems so be ready for the essay questions.Be present for every class and you'll do ok.
If you want to pass a&p take Brillinger!!!!
She is tough but you will know your stuff when you are done with the class.
Not very organized...she jumps around, is unclear about assignments, creates tests that have no relation to her lecture notes, and yet, expects that everyone is up to speed. Her labs consist of pointless computer simulations, a dreadful paper and......did I mention computer simulations? Yeah...a complete waste of time and money. Not worth it.
Professor Gingerich knows her stuff. I encourage any student to take her if they are serious about school and want to learn. Thanks to her I know alot and retained the information. Because of that it has helped me in other classes. You wont waste your time with her. Plus you go on exciting field trips. Last year we went to the Florida Keys!!!
do not take her!!!!! yuo have no idea what she is talking about if you are not a science major. if you are just taking it as a reqiurement, drop it. take brillinger!! i am not kidding. you think a 1 credit lab would be easy yeah ok, 2 weeks into class a test on ch 1-14, becuase she had to catch up. DO NOT TAKE!!
Horrible and rude. If you are not a science major do not take her. I ended up with a B but only because I argued for it. DO NOT take her!
very hard tests, be prepared to study
The worst and hardest teacher for Anatomy. DON'T take her, I promise you.
hard class, but she is really nice, she will help you if you ask questions...but dont underestimate her class, you will need to study ALOT.
Just another asset to the Tarpon Springs Science department. She assigns a great deal of work, but the work is relevant. Her papers prepare those who are seriously considering studying science at a higher institution. She will offer you guidance and inform you on areas of concentration for test preparation. My favorite instructor.
She has a passion for science and it shows. She is tough, but if you read the book before attending class, you should have no problem. If you really want to learn take her.
I've taken her for biology I and II as well as anatomy I, all three with labs. She's been my best teacher ever, and I've been to several schools. Dr. Gingerich has a schedule and sticks to it (with great flexibility if necessary), cares about her students and how they learn the material, and prepares you for using the information later in life.
Her practice tests look nothing like the actual test. She does not curve!!!
This porfessor is nice. The course and lab to no correclate. If you read the material she gives you in the outlien you will do well. Please do not be fooled this teacher is extremely hard! half her class dropped. If you are taking her read your book and all her handouts!!I wouldn't recommend her.
She is a very nice lady, but she did not describe anything so that I could understand it. I ended up trying to teach it to myself after class, (but no I didn't go ask for help) and I didn't do so hot.. needless to say. If you have the drive to learn, you will do fine.
Nice lady. Explains too much. Hard exams.
wonderful professor! great anatomy and physiology teacher. cellular bio is difficult material, but she gives extra credit work! cares about her students and explains material thouroughly. very nice person.
This class kicked my butt, but it was the best butt kicking I have ever had:) There is a lot to learn, so be ready!!! Dr.G is sometimes hard to follow, but she is a great teacher. When you think you have studied enough , study more! Take this class with the lab by the same teacher and don't take anything else, if you can!
dont even think about taking her for biology
Best professor ever! You get out of it what you put into it! Dr. G is a teaching genius! Gladly answers questions, detailed, great w/technology, riveting lectures, goes extra mile, charming personality, great humor, truly cares about students' success. A&P is VERY tough; An A requires 30 hrs/wk studying. Dr. G preps for A&PII & beyond. AWESOME! :o)
If you're serious about learning, Dr. G is for you! A&P I class/lab are defined up front as being very tough, geared for students going into medical sciences, where C students aren't what people want in drs.! She's caring, quietly delightful, deserving of respect! A&P requires intensive studying; use her supplements, ask questions, do extra credit!

IF YOU DONT SEE YOURSELF SPENDING A 4:1 ratio of homework to class time then drop her class and take biological science....well anyway she's a great teacher if you just ask for help...she doesnt have time to teach EVERYTHING because anatomy is a big course so be self proficient or take something else but other than that she is the best
*PLEASE READ* I dont understand why there are so many horror stories about this teacher. Yes, the material is tough, but its not impossible to learn. We have already taken one exam and the material was right out of the book so the best advice I can offer is to READ, do her practice tests online, do the extra credit, and ask questions!
I am taking her for BSC 2010 lab and I must say that I have never had this much work for a one credit hour class. Although the work is easy, there is just SO MUCH of it! Also, instead of exams she assigns two lab reports that are HUGE, but if you are willing to do alot of work, its not too bad. Just make sure you come to class prepared each week.
lecture: read the book. her lectures are nothing compared to the depth the tests go into. lab: turn in your completed assignments from the previous week and you will most likely get an A or B. overall tip: ask as many questions as you need to and be on top of your game at all times.
gingrich loves bio, ask her a question and she can clarify for you. her teaching style not for me, her lectures do not prepare you for the exams. she doesnt write her tests but uses the book question bank so make sure you read every chapter word for word. she gives you objectives that the essay questions come from so read those! and extra credit to
Her lab was a lot of fun, we went on 4 field trips. The paper is killer, it has to be in the format of a research paper so make sure its EXACTLY how she wants it and ask her if you have any questions about it she will tell you. The weekly lab quizzes should be called exams, they go into great detail so you really have to study to do good on them.
Took 2010 and 2011. A good professor that really cares about both the subjects and her students. Hard class that you must invest time in, but well worth the effort if you want to know the material. I studied mainly from her objectives and made A's, but reading the book helps. For labs plan to put more time in than you do for most 1 credit classes.
I took A&P I Lab online, with Dr. Gingerich the worse teacher ever. Trust me im not making this up this is the truth. It took her weeks to reply back to my emails, her reason was that she was traveling and didnt have a chance to check the email?another thing her practice for the final was posted the date when the final was due thats crazyDontTakeHe
This class is very similar to AP Bio in high school, except her tests are harder than tests at universities. I would not recommend her, but she is a very nice lady
Truly the worst educator I've ever had experience of being subjected. Consistently late for labs, lectures and exams. Not even apologetic for being late. Absolutely no teaching style, she just likes to talk, mostly off subject. She REALLY likes to talk about administrative tasks. Lectures are worthless. She has no concept of applicability. AVOID
The materials given for studying for the final exam were not adequate coverage of what was on the exam.
Dr. Gingerich really smart. If you can ace this class, you will make it thru med school. It's hard but you learn a lot. Must read the text book and really absorb the info to do well. Very strict with grading but it's worthwhile. I suffered a lot throughout the semester but when i looked back I never regreted taking her class
HARD CLASS! Hard teacher! Her objective list are not even similar to whats on the exam! I took the lecture online, dont do it! There is a mid term and a final and its worth 30% of your grade each. You have to go to campus for them. Her exam questions seem to be made by a different teacher or something. be prepared to dedicate at least 40 hrs a week
Took her lab in class. Requires alot of studing (at least 30 hrs a week to get a c on praticals). Spelling counts. Very detailed. If you get a A in this class you will do fine in your future! Dont take her if you to bring up your GPA. For a one credit class I spent more time on this then the lecture and it shows. p.s. dont take it during summer
Now that I'm taking Kanhai for AP 2, I can appreciate Gingerich's AP 1 which I took online over the summer. Gingerich gives extra credit on mid-terms and finals, unlike Kanhai/Naravane, and it's better to travel to SPC for a proctored test that gives you a reasonable time to complete it, rather than Kanhai's ridiculously timed online quizzes/tests.
not a good teacher, she is hard and her lectures are very difficult to pay attention through. lots of notes and test are very hard even after studying.
Took class online. The book's website does all the teaching. Ms. Gingerich doesn't actually do anything accept log grades & sometimes forget to open assignments. I guess it's typical for everyone to fail both the midterms and the finals. Maybe there are better BSC teachers on other campuses?
Extremely helpful teacher. I think that everyone says she is horrible because she actually makes you work. But this is college. If you are going into pre-med TAKE THIS CLASS. It will really put your determination and desire to the test, and show you how much work you actually are going to have to put in.
She teaches very clearly, explains things in easy terms, and extremely knowledgable. Not to mention, she is a VERY nice person. Her tests are hard, but if you study your notes, and her outlines, you'll do fine.
Be ready to cuddle w/your bio book!! Overall she is very nice, and is there to help you pass. she doesn't want you to fail. However, this class is not easy and you need to study, and study hard .She gives extra credit to boost your test grades. Biology is hard itself, and you NEED to study! Study study study!
She doesn't explain things well and she gets off of topic easily. It took my class 3 weeks to get through 1 chapter! She skipped over so much stuff because she wasted time talking about useless things. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to take this class over once i get to UF.
Took AP1 w/ Lab online for Spring.I got 100's on all assignments because you can take them as many times as you want. All learning done by reading the book and the website. You must read, highlight and read again to understand the material.I would recomend her to good students.Exams are hard and you can't memorize. You get what you deserve.
You may be able to pass this class if you memorize the entire book. No study guides at all, exams are mostly over topics that she puts the least emphasis on in her lectures, the lab paper she assigns has to be better than one you'd find in a scientific journal in order for you to get a decent grade, a total nightmare! Will be retaking elsewhere.
I had Dr. Gingerich for genetics, and I had already had her for another class. She is a total NIGHTMARE! Hardly anyone even passed this class. If you do not memorize the book, you will not get a good grade. Genetics is a 3,000 level class and she made this class feel like a doctorate level. If you have to take genetics, DO NOT take it with her!!
Dr. Gingerich is a special woman. She loves science and is so smart that sometimes she can be a little difficult to understand. She doesn't tell you whats on her tests but if you read and ask questions you'll do well :). Be prepared to buddy up with her and she'll help you every step of the way :0) ps She has a great sense of humor.
I've had her for ecology and evolutionary biology. Her tests are challenging but not impossible. If you study you should do well. She is very knowledgeable about the subjects and very nice. The people who failed probably didn't put in the work. She can get off topic because she will answer any questions a student might have.
Complete waste of time. Teachers were rude and had conversations during student's presentations. Did not explain what was expected or assignments. Synopsis and reflection were very repetitive. Professors do not respond to email. Class needs more structure.
This Lady is a Nightmare! Be Prepared to memorize the entire book in order to pass this class!
Took her for Eco lecture, she can be tough and unclear. Tests were easy but became more difficult over the semester. The assignments she gives are long and tedious. Study the outlines posted online for the exams and the examples she gives in the powerpoints. She is a slow grader but is very nice and helpful when needed. Will curve exams
Took for evolution the semester was very unorganized. HW assignments and computer simulations were too long and interfered with time spent on papers. 3 papers 4 pages each, she ended up dropping the last paper and about half the HW assignments, she couldn't keep up with grades. Tests were extremely tough need to know very specific examples.
Dr. Gingerich is engaging and helpful if you have any questions. Lecturesdiscussions are interesting and she provides useful feedback on assignments. Grading was not timely, but not a problem. Not sure what the negative reviews are about. Probably from students who are dismayed when they actually have to attend class and do the work.
Evolutionary biology: Ok... so she's disorganized, and becomes overwhelmed with the grading. She is very helpful though during office hours. Also, STUDY THE BOOK. Most of the test questions came from the figures in the book. I had a D up until the last week of class and she graded all of the assignments and I ended with a B.
Dr. Gingerich is excellent. She requires you to do a lot of writing and reading, and show up to class prepared. There is a lot of work, but it's well explained and will help you on her exams.
Engaging, interesting and helpful. Lots of very interesting field trip opportunities. Grading is slow because she writes a lot of comments on each paper. She offers re-writes but make sure you actually read and correct mistakes! Tests are hard but if you come to class and read the text book you'll be fine.
Is a very sweet teacher and does want to help but grades so harshly that it's difficult to know exactly what she wants in a response. Does offer a lot of extra credit. Very lecture heavy and a lot of homework for a 3 credit class. This is a very hard class but she is a very sweet teacher. Good luck.
BUY THE BOOK, READ EVERYTHING & DO THE HOMEWORK! Most of the test questions come from the book (even the subsections) and homework. Gives a lot of extra credit. Best advice is to do ALL assignments and Bonus work and you'll do fine. Is a very tough grader but is a very sweet teacher. Communicate with her and she will do her best to help you pass!
Dr. Gingerich is good-natured and I was particularly impressed by her acumen. Acknowledging this is a 4000 level course, I found it personally difficult to complete the weekly assignments and research paper on time with a hectic home/work schedule. Study and the tests aren't too difficult. Up to half a letter grade offered in bonus assignments
There is plentiful opportunity to boost your grade, super organized and there to teach students. Do the bonus assignments/homework and an A is extremely accessible. Really no reason anyone should fail or do poorly in the class unless you do not show up or do the assignments.
Amazing teacher. She is extremely educated, funny, and understanding. If you show up to class and try it's impossible to not get an A. She makes evolution very understandable and interesting with her thorough explanations. Do all the bonus assignments, read the book, and pay attention in class! She's a great teacher, and I highly recommend her.
Dr. G is amazing. She is very well verse in any animal behavior topic and is friendly to approach. Love how she is always available and wants to see you succeed. She gives very good lectures but pay attention and take notes because the slides do not have all the information. FYI took her for animal behavior. The site did not have this as
grades hard, and gives wayy too much work when she knows clearly this course doesn't require that much and that her students aren't already extremely busy. Expect to prioritize this class.
Dr. G is an amazing professor who loves what she does. She is very caring, understanding, and kind. She does require a bit more work compared to other classes, but if you follow the rubric there is no way you won't get an A! Her ecology lab was very educational and fun, and she helped in any way she could. Dr. G is a gem to SPC!!
