great! lectures are short and to the point... must keep up with homework...
Shes a really good teacher. She looks like a student herself. Her accent is soooo cute.
She's an awesome professor! Knows how to explain the concepts of the material very well and as well helpful, whenever you need help with your math homework or simply you have a problem, she is always there to assist for her students.
Very nice professor! I had her in Math 40 and I was so glad to receive her back for Math 70. It's bad I won't get her next term for Math 130. Everyone will love her!!!
A great teacher, who explains problems well, and actually WANTS the students to succeed. She's also very humorous, and works at a fast pace, which makes the time go by so fast. However, she makes you want to learn what she's teaching =).
She's great! Very willing to help.
she has good lectures, and she makes it easy to learn, she really loves to teach.
she is the cutest teacher ever! very approchable, tests are pretty straight forward, lectures go by fast (sometimes they can be overwhelming, nontheless easy to understand) if you are an algebra type of person, you'll love this course
I took this during summer, no procrastinating at all. Take good notes, study everyday. The pace is a little too fast to savour during summer. I think about what I learned in this class often.
Do the work and you will be fine. She is very helpfull and the lectures are very clear.
Asked a question and yelled at us....I think she didn't like me for some reason
KIND OF FAST PACED-- BUT SHE'S VERY NICE AND HELPFUL.. SHE EARNS HER PAY CHECK.. SHE LIKES TO TEACH.. YOU JUST HAVE TO STAY UP WITH THE WORK
she's a great great math professor, she makes thing so simple make you to understand, just do the HW ,easy A! she's really good at teaching Calculus if u compare other Calculus professor,u know how good she is, trust me!!
Best techer ever! you'll love her, she's a very nice teacher her work is easy but challenging. her teaching is great you'll understand everything she teaches and her clearness is off the roof, great!
She'll explain it until you get it right. She is an instructor that is "fair" and very available for her students.
She is OK.!! She is explain material, well. However, I did not like our classes because it was one hour test. She explain very fast and you should slove the problem fast.
If you've never taken calculus before, she is a great professor. She will "dumb it down" for you. Take good notes. Do the homework in order to do well on the tests. She grades the tests a little leniently, but don't slack off.
She has such an upbeat personality and always cares about her students. If you dont understand something she'll stop and help you out individually if needed. Even though she doesnt collect homework, I think its key to doing well on tests.
Love her. I am not really good with math, but he made it better. She was very helpful. She grades very fair, gives credit for steps you do right. Homework not hard, she does not collect it, but gives homework quizzes directly from homework. Which a 1/2 hr of class she goes over all homework questions.
The best math professor at Elco. She talks kind of fast, but explains it well. Her lectures are to the point, terse, and she explains how it applies to real life. Had her for 2 semesters back to back, great experience. Tests are graded fairly, final is little more difficult than she hints at. But otherwise you can't go wrong by taking her.
I had a horrible Math 40 professor, so I switched to L. Ho and got an A. From then on, I took her for all my math courses, including 70 and 120. She is the BEST math professor EVER!! I just wish the class hadn't gone by so fast...I would love to be in her class again!
Awesome teacher. She makes the overwhelming amount of information (not her fault, this is Calculus!) seem very clear and easy. Best thing about her is that she does MANY examples of different types of situations, which what makes everything that less confusing. Tests are pretty straight forward;no suprises. Best Calculus teacher by a long shot!
Math is my worst subject, but her class is a breeze! Not that it's that easy mind you. It's just that she teaches it so well that you understand it better. The class is interesting, informative and fun. That's something I never thought I'd say about a math class!
I really liked Ms. Ho's way of teaching. She is very good at explaining the material in way that's easy to understand. Math is not my strong point and she made math very interesting and seem like a breeze. I would highly recommend her.
She is a very good teacher. Never had a good math teacher until i found her. I love the fact that she hands out ALL the lectures, which makes it easier to pay attention rather than take all the notes down! Smart lady. Nice.
Soooo great! you can do what you want, listen, read, draw. Before the test she gives study guides, so as long as you know everything on the study guide you'll pass. shes almost always available for you to ask her for help. great teacher! shes so funny.
I just didn't like that she used real brand names in her math problems for lectures, it was like a stream of commercials and it made me tune out. I think she's a good teacher if you can get over that. I wouldn't consider her hot.
very good teacher!!! i recommend her!!! i retained most of the things she taught in class! she makes everything easier!!
KeWL Teacher!! I like her because she will help you when ever you need it.. she also provide xtra time for online office hour.. verrrrryyyyyyy kewl teacher!!
She is really awesome. Gives you a million different ways to learn, study, and is really fair towards grading.
Great teacher she give out notes which are understanable, she's a fair grader she gives partial credit if you tried/almost got the answer just as long as you complete the whole test try not to leave anything blank... wonderful teacher!!
BEST MATH TEACHER AT ECC! If you have trouble with math TAKE HER COURSE!
i SHOUL HAVE TAKEN HER WAY BEFORE, SHE IS SIMPLY THE BEST TEACHER IVE HAD IN MY LIFE!:)EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT MATH LIKE ME YOU WILL UNDERSTAND HER, UNLESS YOU ARE REALLY STUPID OR VERY LAZY, SHE DOESNT TAKE S... FROM NOBODY AND ITS KINDA FUNNY,HINT: IF YOU HAVE A PC AT HOME DONT BUY THE BOOK BUY THE ONLINE VERSION, ITS MUCH BETTER AND CHEAPER!
Ms. Ho is a great teacher that truly cares about her students and wants everyone to pass. The tests are easy and you really learn a lot about math from her. I hate math but she made it easy for me. Best math teacher! I highly recommend her!
A great teacher! She knows the material very well and presents it in an easy way to understand. Math 120 is a very easy math class, especially for liberal majors, so I suggest for you to take this class if you want to learn.
HAVE HAD AT EL CAMINO...SHES VERY HELPFUL AND GOES THRU EXAMPLES STEP BY STEP...I HATED MATH AND DIDNT UNDERSTAND AT ALL BUT HER CLASS CHANGED THAT =) IF YOU NEED MATH 40 TAKE HER!!!!
she is a great teacher. highly recommended. Full of energy!
I had no interest in math until taking this class. Prof Ho is a cool teacher, and does NOT require homework. she has a "do the homework only if you need to do it for practice." Has 5 exams through the whole semester, all of which are very clearly explained and broken down before taking. Very funny if you can catch her quips!
Best math professor I've ever had. Grade is primarily based on tests but attendance, in-class exercises can make up for lazy students who do not do their homework (like me).
Great teacher! She explains problems very thoroughly and is easy to understand. I like how she gives a study guide before each test that lets you know exactly what kind of problem/how many of each type will be on the exam as well as how many points they're worth. Would definatley take another class with her if I had to.
linda is the best calc teacher around! if you got a c in math 70/130 you will not be able to do well in calc. linda doesnt drop any test scores. she marks off for stupid mistakes on the exam. ex/ i forgot to put f(x)= and she marked me off 2 pts. so do every single damn step on your exams. she explains things well. take her
Great teacher who knows what shes talking about, just do the homework and you will do fine on the tests.. trust me, i briefly reviewed for the tests from the notes we take in class
great teacher for anybody who dislikes math
Good professor! She gives clear lectures and help students when needed.. Does not fool around, goes straight to teaching.. Tests are fair.. Gives out quizzes.. HW's are not turned in.. This professor is a good choice for Business Calculus.
VERY good professor. if you have a hard time with math, TAKE HER. there are 5 tests & 1 final. 4 questions are pulled out from the tests & put onto the final. you must attend class to take notes. you can do your homework either from the book or online. we didn't use the book in class. we just took notes. there are extra credit opportunities.
Linda is a great prof. She makes calculus easy! Her lectures are crystal clear and you would really learn a lot from her. We had 4 tests and 1 final. You have to work hard and study to get A (like all classes). i definitely recommend her!
I wish I took her for all of my lower division courses, because calculus is sooooo easy for me, but I still have a horrible time with algebra! lol (Tip: Do all of the hw, and then review the ones that you have a hard time with, you can't mess up if you do that, Good luck!)
Prof.Ho is not only a highly knowledgeable, SUPER teacher, but a compassionate, upbeat and extremely helpful person as well!!! She does a STELLAR job "simplifying" the text book material. Tests are very reasonable(a bit on the easier side-no suprises).Do HW and pay good attn.to lectures & examples, and there is no reason not to get an A!!..I did!!
Linda is everything a student could want in a professor. She is accessible, and so is her course material. I would recommend EVERYONE take some kind of class with her. She will tell you key-points of tests during her lectures. Homework for this class is not mandatory. Lectures are clear and useful! The quizes are so easy to get A+!
Linda Ho is an easy teacher, but I would not recommend her for someone who struggles in Math. She talks really fast, so you have to really keep up. Plus, she only grades you on tests and one project. This is especially hard for those who are bad test takers since you can not turn in homework to help your grade out :(
Professor Ho has the ability and tenacity to mold students from any field of study into a model of mathematical wizardry. She does speak quickly, so pay attention. A pleasurable experience and highly recommended to students with tact and intelligence.
Teacher is on crack, talks a paragraph a minute, Isn't very clear on MANY things. She is an easy teacher if you already know the subject and/or are willing to teach yourself. Doesn't Collect HW, but thats not really a good thing when all she grades on is 4 "Mid-Terms" and a 50pt Project.
talks SUPER fast, it's annoying.she likes to hold us after class, which is annoying. there are 4 midterms, doesn't drop a score. one car project for 50pts. and a 200pt final. all midterms are 100pts. if you suck at math, don't take her cause you will not learn anything because she talks soooo fast.
You won't regret taking her class. She is the best professor I've ever met. 4midterms, 1final, and 5 quizes. She's very passionate professor. If you attend and do your homework, you will be find.
Mrs. Ho is a good teacher. I liked how she always gave us examples of what was going to be on each test. The tests didn't have any surprises. The only problem is that the final is worth 200 points so it counts a lot! I had a B going into the final, but I ended up with a C. This class is not hard, but it requires some studying!
she has an attitude if we have forgotten something from prev. classes, she makes it seem like you will not prosper bc of it.I tried to get help from her on my OWN time and she made me feel dumb(er)& like i wasn't trying hard enough(evn thgh i was there bc i wantd to be).talks REALLY fast.expect to be held atleast 5 min after class bc she still lctrs
I use to hate math and got D's or F's in high school in math...Great Math teacher! She breaks down steps to solve problems crystal clear and gives great notes for you to copy. She is very helpful and good at explaining. Show up, copy notes, do homework, study for test to get an easy A!
this is a hard subject but she makes it as easy as she can.make sure you attend class and pay attn.go to office hrs if you need extra help.gives 3-4 midterms and collects HW on the day of the test.final is comprehensive.she does talk fast but you'll get use to it.goes over HW in class.
She does not encourage her students.I was almost afraid to ask a question because she would answer sarcastically and in what I found to be a demeaning way. She knows her calculus, but her lectures are a little scatter-brained and once you are lost, you are lost. She is unforgiving about late homework/absences but I guess that is expected.
She's extremely helpful. I highly recommend her. I'd love to take her again. She's crystal clear. Attendance is mandatory. She does not collect homework. Test are similar to HW problems. Very Straight forward. Did I say I Love her..?? LoL Definitely take any math class with her! A+++++ professor!
It is a hard class and Ms. Ho goes through lots of examples in each class, but she gives study guides and you can get a good grade if you come to the classes and pay attention. She is nice and cares that you learn the subject.
This professor is wonderful. I hated math with a passion and took me FOREVER to finally get to college level math. After taking her class, I actually miss it. This class is not EASY but it's doable. Whoever does not pass is because they didn't study. With math, one MUST study plain and simple. She offers great examples and offers help if needed!
Oh gosh. WORST CLASS I'VE EVER TAKEN. She bored me to death. & honestly I knew the material better than she did. I would not recommend this teacher to anyone. Pretty much most boring class I've ever taken. Complete and total waste of my time.
she is amazing! every thing is straightforward and she you can tell that she loves her job and helping people learn. her quizzes and tests are exact hw questions,SIMPLE! so do the hw! she loves helping students so use her office hrs! if she was teaching stats i wld have definitely taken her class.
Great and helpful teacher. Show up, do homework, review homework and you will pass her test.
along with professor jeff cohen, one of the best professor I took. I don't know if they changed to 5 units and give her extra 30 min per day (4 unit when i was there)for lecture but still was very effective. Class is not easy, but if youre taking 191, you prolly gonna have harder classes to come anyways. if you want to learn - go take her.
Professor Ho is so clear and helpful. Do the work and ask her the questions and you will learn the math and get a good grade.
If you can take someone else, like Sibner, PLEASE do. I love math and she made me hate going to class so much I dropped. She does not like when people ask questions, nor does she respond in a manner that clears much up. I was almost afraid to ask questions in her class, and usually just ended up even more confused. Totally unforgiving in any manner
If you can, take another professor - this one is confusing and not very helpful. I would not wish this professor upon anyone.
Extremely easy if you're good at math. If not, don't take her. She talks VERY fast, but she'll dumb down everything and act like she's talking to a bunch of 5-year-olds. I think she's trying to make things easier, but she just makes everything more confusing. She makes a lot of mistakes, but you get extra credit for correcting her.
Professor Ho is an excellent professor! If you pay attention in class, take notes, and do the the homework...there should be no reason for failing the class! She does talk quickly but clarifies any question you may have! If you're still having trouble, utilizing her office hours helps out a lot!
she's extremely motivational!!! she helps me feel good about myself as a student and confidence plus a major role in how well you preform. She's so patient and willing to help!! i took her for PRECAL spring 2012 and i really feel prepared for CALCULUS (math 190) in the fall!! THANX LINDA!!!!
It's true, Professor Ho lectures really quickly. However, her lectures are surprisingly clear and coherent. She doesn't collect homework, but do it anyway! It helps! Doing all of the homework and getting the concepts down on lock can mean the difference between a B and an A.
She is a great teacher! Very helpful and makes herself available to students. She does handouts, study guides, and practice exams. She is through in her explanations and will answer your questions.
Goes over tons and tons of examples. Gives handouts and study guides for every exam. Final Exam grade can replace the grade of one other exam
She's a good professor if you can understand her. Her test are not hard if you do the homework. She has preferences in the class and you can tell. If youre not doing well she doesnt like you and she shows it when you go to office hours. Overall, I wish I woulve taken someone else. Oh and she talks super fast.
I'm taking her class. So HEPLFUL, Clear, and know what to do. 3exams, 1 final, NO Quizs, 50pts for HW. Just do homework, and you will get an A on any exam (there are several hw exactly the same on test) highly recomment
She is not kind and she talks really fast and hard to understand she is terrible teacher
she really wants you to succeed but she is a lil intimidating to talk to. jus do problems out the book and you will be okay. she didnt like me that much but i did ace the class but even when i had trouble, she offered help so thats cool
She is great, she always makes time for her students and is very encouraging. She can be intemdating to talk to at first, but I run into her from time to time at El Camino and she would ask how my math classes are going. She also saved me a seat in her more advanced math classes to ensure I got her again and the class I needed before enrollment.
I had her for Business Calc. Friend of mine recommended her to me. Because I haven't taken a math in over a year and was really scared but she was very clear and very thorough in her lecture. I didn't miss any class and did great. I audited other math teachers at the same time and stuck with her because she was the best.
I love Dr. Ho! She is very helpful and sweet. She is very clear about all work in class and makes sure you understand everything. Passed the class with a B. She also gives out extra credit!
She really wants you to succeed in the class, so if you have a question, she'll explain in A LOT of detail. Her lectures are really clear and thorough. It is a little difficult, but if you work at it and do the homework you'll be fine!
She is a great teacher. She makes everything clear and easy to understand. If you pay attention in class and do the homework you can pass with an A. Tests are easy and straightforward and she gives extra credit. Probably the best college level math teacher I have taken. I wish I could have taken her for 161!
She gives her own handouts, so you don't need a book. Can be helfpful, if you ask! She's sweet & very smart & wants you to learn. She goes through every detail. Does give extra credit. She's tooo fast & doesn't give you time to grasp/process the new information. She also takes so many points off from test. FYI: THis is NOT an easy class!!!
Discouraging and ambiguous. Terrible study guide, it has no patter and no solving problems on it, just a over view from each chapter. The exam is 20% base on HW, another 80% it's somewhere else.
She never encourage students. Also, the exams are horrible.
She is a really great teacher. She goes in depth with her explanations, so if you have a question about anything she will do her best to answer it until you understand. She will even ask you if you understand it after shes done talking. One draw back is that she talks fast, but she is very polite, nice, helpful, and reasonable.
I signed up for Calculus 1, expecting it to be the toughest math course of my life, but Professor Ho made it easy and understandable. Only tests and quizzes are worth credit in her class, so long hours of studying are necessary to pass. I'm already registered in her Calculus 2 course this upcoming Spring semester.
Linda Ho gives helpful review guides for each exam. You can get help in her office. She will help you even if you don't get it at first.
Professor Ho is top notch. I had her for both 190 and 191 and I enjoyed both of them equally. As with any math class, your success is completely dependent on the amount of homework you do and the help you seek. 191 is substantially more difficult so expect to put in much more work to be prepared for the exams.
Professor Ho is by far the best professor I've had ElCo. I am terrible at math, but he made calc easy to understand. If you're lost don't be afraid to ask questions in office hours! An A is definitely attainable if you put in the work!
Professor Ho is an exceptional professor who lectures are really helpful.
Do your homework (although not graded), ask questions, ask more questions at office hours if you need more help then you'll pass this class with an A. She's a great calc professor, probably the best out of all, and you will be really lucky to have her. She's very passionate about her job. If you put in your sincere work, you'll get credit for it.
She is an amazing professor. Talks fast during lectures but she breaks everything down so that you can understand it easier. No quizzes and HW does not count. 5 midterms 1 final. I made the mistake of not doing my homework for one test and I failed but I brought my grade back up by studying a ton. Work hard in her class it will be worth it! :)
I had Professor Ho for 180 and 190 and she is the best of the best. The only reason you would do bad in her class is if you don't do the homework. If you are not lazy and do all the homework, you will learn a lot. I might become a math major because of her.
Prof. Ho is very approachable, straightforward, and kind. Her quizzes are essentially free, easy points if you do all the hw. Her tests are very reasonable and doable. If you complete all the hw sets it should be fairly easy to pull off an A for all the tests and even the final. I really enjoyed having Prof. Ho, she is simply great at what she does
Easy, easy, easy just do the homework all hw are exact questions for the quiz go to office hours if you don't understand test are from the homework as well as from the study guide she gives very simple I slacked off at the beginning got 2 Fs on the quiz and a 38% on the first test bounced back with 3 A on quiz and 3 b on exam go to OH
Professor Ho is the BEST math professor I have had since middle school. She tells you exactly what you need for calculus and her notes are very simple as long as you follow. HWisn't for credit, although all her test questions come from the hw problems, do her hw and take notes A She is very very helpful during class and office hours. Take Her!!!!
basically your entire grade is dependent on the exams. the homework is not for credit, but you should do it because it will help with the exams. she is very fast talker and was kind of hard to follow because of the fast paced nature of the class. not recommended for slow learners, those who adapt quickly will thrive in this class. cool teacher tho.
she is amazing. she is understanding and will 100% help you if you need it. I was gonna get an A in the class but I skipped 3 classes, which was stupid, and messed up on one test. Extra credit is given and lowest quiz score is dropped and final replaces half of your lowest midterm scores. She calls all test midterms so don't be freaked.
Professor Linda's class was very fast paced, although, she made lectures very easy to understand. If you did not understand what you were being taught, she was always accessible through her office hours. 5 Midterms, 5 quizzes, and a final worth 200 pints. 1/2 the final will replace your lowest midterm, and she offers 10 extra credit points!
Although it's just high school math, it's difficult bc it's fast paced. She's a good teacher, but 5 midterms and 5 quizzes along with a cumulative final? It was difficult in a short amount of time. Make sure to do the homework bc the quizzes are based off of about 3 homework questions! But the homework isn't graded. Make sure to put in the work!
She is not an easy A by any means but she is one of THE BEST math professors at Elco! Take her if you want to learn math BUT remember that you have to work for your grade.
My final grade was 87% and I dont blame on the professor for not curving me to an A. But she is a great professor. She made the lectures very easy. Dont miss the class before test dates because she reviews most of the materials that will be on quizzes and test. She gives study guides before a week of every test.
Professor Ho is an excellent math teacher. Her lectures are very fast-paced and there's a lot of homework, but she breaks down the material into nice-sized chunks. She doesn't grade homework, but gives homework quizzes regularly. She also provides study guides and solutions for each test. Work hard and don't miss class! Each lecture covers a lot.
She is an amazing teacher. This class was hard but she absolutely prepares you for higher level math. Don't miss class, ask for help, and follow her lectures. there is extra credit so make sure you do it. I will be looking to take her every math class that i can.
She is the most respectful professor Ive ever had. She gives great feedbacks to all your tests and quizzes. Shes very understanding. Always ready for our questions and well prepared. She knows what shes teaching and its VERY clear to understand too. I would definitely take her class again. Do your homework then youll pass for sure!!!
A fantastic teacher. As someone who sucks at math, she was amazing. The only reason you will get anything less than a B in this class is if you don't put in the effort or just screw up a exam. Only downside is that since there is no homework, 100% of your grade will come from quiz's and exams.
She is soooo caring and really connects with the students. She is so kind and she can teach really well! The only thing that is hard to get over is her accent but we shouldn't judge her off of that! Everyone has accents and she is trying!
Linda Ho is such a sweet lady. She wants everyone to understand the material and feel comfortable with it. Lots of homework so you get lots of practice and she goes over the homework the next day and explains well. The day before tests the entire class time is devoted for review. She keeps herself available to talk to and isn't intimidating at all!
Was nervous about this class, I have never taken Calc before. She made it really enjoyable even though I'm not a fan of math whatsoever. Homework isn't graded, but the 5 2 question quizzes we have are exact questions from the hw. Tests are exactly like the study guide. Gives great handouts and clear notes. Very nice and makes Calc very easy. GOAT.
She is hard. Be careful if you are planning to take her class. Not an easy A. Grades by little mistakes. Quizzes every two weeks. Exams are hard.
Pretty cool teacher. Her lectures are straightforward and if you have a question she always helps. You are not required to do the hw but i would recommend it because the test questions are very similar. Honestly a really helpful and straight forward teacher.
I joined her class online for fall. I initially thought she would be great after reading the things people wrote about her on here; however she didn't explain work, didn't post homework assignments until last minute, is NOT understanding of student's lives outside of school, and sent me a rude message after irrationally dropping from her class.
Her quizzes are just like the homework. the homework is not graded because she will see if you did the homework based on her quizzes. Her tests are very hard and long. She gives good handouts, however, Bus Calc is not an easy class so, be prepared to memorize a bunch of formulas. her study guides are great. overall is hard to get an A.
Prof Ho provides note packets along with her lectures which helped me keep up and understand the material. Every unit has homework and theres a short quiz every couple of weeks. The assignments she gives out are there to help you learn, and theres no busy work. She is understanding and gave me a second change when I messed up on a deadline.
Probably the best math professor at el camino, really wish I could take her again!! Her lectures aren't live, they're posted videos and she does have office hours. She answers emails super quick. This isn't an easy A but with practice and by doing her hw you'll be fine (quizzes and tests are proctored). She's such a great teacher.
Linda Ho is such a great professor. Reading the negative reviews honestly just say that the student wasn't willing to put in ANY work. She's super accessible and . sweetTook her for precalc and 190 pre and during COVID and wish I could take her again. Her quizzes are straightforward and her study guides are super helpful. HW is important for tests.
She is one of the best professors at El Camino for sure. Not only is she clear about her teaching for 190, she really emphasizes prepping for 191.
She is super RUDE when answering emails. Her lecture will make you confuse. She teaches very complicate and very hard to understand. Exams and quizzes are similar to HW. Her class is hard but possible to pass, but this professor is rude and will make you to hate the class.
She has a policy where u get dropped if u miss 3 assignments, I missed 2assignments from one night due to a medical emergency which she was not understanding about, and instead referred me to tutoring when I told her I'm trying to catch up. She doesn't let u start exams whenever u want, she locks the exam at a set time and u cant access it.
Puuhhleeaasee, don't let that high rating fool you! Her lectures are most of the time confusing because I think she tries to give us shortcuts that complicate the material even more. I think a good thing was that quizzes are every two weeks so you have a good amount of time to practice for the quizzed sections; it's proctored. Good luck....
NO NO NO NO! DO NOT TAKE HER COUSE. Like another rating said before don't be fooled by her high ratings. Pre - recorded lectures were so confusing and long I was better off watching you tube videos. Tests are nearly impossible to pass, would study for hours before just to be thrown curve balls and fail. Only thing graded was tests and discussions.
dont be fooled by the high ratings guys pls !!! her quizzes are 80 points for 4-6 questions and she marks off points for little things. Her hw and discussions are not as difficult, but they dont make up enough points to pass the class. Shes extremely rude during office hours and gets mad when you ask questions that you should already know.
These high ratings are not what they seem. 8 tests make up your grade for 80 pts each, only 5 questions in one hour (proctored). Lectures are extremely difficult to understand and do not help while homework is mandatory but not graded. Workload is heavy and has office hours twice a week (not helpful). If youre balancing other classes, save yourself
Lord have mercy. AVOID! This class is lecture heavy with pre-recorded (and very confusing) lectures and she has no understanding in her. If you understand the notes, chances are you still won't do well on the tests. She marked me down for points saying my work was messy on a problem then 3 lectures later said messy was ok as long as answer is clear
Professor Ho is very sweet, her teaching was actually effective because she started from the very beginning in algebra and was building up to trigonometry. Her quizzes and exams are similar to the homework problems, I'm gonna get either an A or B in her class, I recommend her.
Do NOT take this class not only is it confusing but shes rude. Her tests and quizzes are super difficult, even after studying. Shes also SUPER picky on grading tests. Forget to put parentheses? She takes off points. Messy work? Shell take off points. Super contradicting on what she says too.
If you are not willing to put all your time into this class, do not take it. The quizzes were so incredibly hard, 8 quizzes (proctored) worth 80 points plus a 2 hour comprehensive final. Half of class dropped. Her lectures are confusing but she helps you during office hours (def go). Really picky grader when it comes to quizzes.
She is amazing. Ive had the biggest trouble with math for a while but Professor Ho has made me really appreciate and understand a lot more. She gives full attention to you and if youre struggling she always makes the time to help you. Attending the Zoom calls gives you extra credit so it doesnt hurt to go and its helpful.
Lecture is rigorous and very fast paced, she makes a lot of errors during the notes and feels like she's all over the place. Repeatedly says a topic will be on the exams but ended up not on there, and picks questions on exams she doesn't say to study.
This class wasn't easy. This class was tough for ME but the lectures didnt explain enough to help with the quiz and all the homework problems aren't similar to the quiz!! ( quiz every other week+lectures+homework(webassign)+ midterm+final ) *points off for small errors *
She was a great professor. Explained everything she taught throughly. She will help you succeed if you ask for help.
Her class isn't easy. If you want to do well you should do all the hw from the textbook, but it's not graded. Quizzes and exams are questions from the hw or very similar. Lots of ec opportunities, which really saved me. The lectures are long but she gives a break and the packets are instructive (actually prep for exam). Highly recommend the class.
Such a great a professor, repeated many important points throughout the lectures and always assured any concerns. Stay on top of the homework because many of the quizzes are based off even though you don't have to turn in homework.
Calc is obviously a very difficult course but Professor Ho definitely tries her absolute best to help her students understand the material well enough. If you put in the time for the class, you won't be disappointed at the end of the semester. Very helpful and accessible outside of class. Office hours were extremely helpful.
Professor Linda Ho is a great professor. Even when you don't believe in yourself, she believes in you more. Make sure to take advantage of office hours and study guides and put in a lot of time and effort into the class, and you are bound to succeed. 100% recommend.
Professor Ho is truly a gem. She cares for her students so much and wants them to succeed. She's aware calculus is a difficult subject and will want to make sure students understand the material during lecture. Class is graded mainly on tests and quizzes, participation for in-person also matters.
calc 2 is difficult because of its technicality, but prof ho always bent over backwards to help her students. not a lot of conceptual understanding, but she teaches content well. make sure you digest lectures and take advantage of her office hrs. stay on top of hw, take studying seriously, and you'll succeed. good teacher
She uses the support class time to spread out her lectures, this way she can review algebra and things you forgot which helps you understand the trig equations. She teaches higher levels of math so she knows exactly what to teach at the lower levels to help you succeed at the higher ones she helped me understand trig more than I thought I could
She really tries her best to make sure everyone understands. DO THE HOMEWORK even if its not graded it helps out so much and its more. If you don't do the hw its likely you won't pass. She's great overall and she super nice gives some extra credit here and there to help student pass the class. Not a lot of teachers care the way she does.
Linda is probably the best math professor/teacher that I have ever had. She cares a lot for her students and wants to see them succeed. Do the homework as the same type of material will be on the tests. She prepares you to the best of her ability for Math 190 and Math 191. Will be taking her calc 2 class in the fall.
Linda is an engaging professor with great lectures and note packets that make the content easier to follow. She is extremely helpful and cares about her students' grades. Best advice: do most if not all of the homework assigned to get high exam scores as points (like most math classes) are from exams only. She gives extra credit on exams, too!
Professor Ho puts in a lot of effort to ensure everyone understands the material. Doing the homework, even if ungraded, is crucial to passing the class. She's extremely helpful and understanding, and offers extra credit opportunities. Definitely take advantage of unstuck ai for efficient study prep.
She does an excellent job of filtering the most important aspects to teach (from a very info-dense curriculum). Homework isn't graded, but she gives a quiz per chapter (not worth much) to encourage students to do it for study. Additionally, test problems are very similar to homework problems. Wonderful person, great notes provided!
Professor Ho was a really good teacher and is probably one of the best math professors on campus! Her lectures are very easy to follow and gives us notes that we take in class and it helps for studying for the exams and quizzes. She's really easy to reach when you need help like office hours and always happy to help with any questions!
This professor was one of the best professors I ever had. I did struggle with this class because I am not the strongest in math. She was understanding and gave good feedback to the questions I had. She also gives out extra credit for tutoring which is very helpful in the end.
Professor Ho is a great professor, and I would recommend that you take her. She doesn't grade homework, but you should still practice regardless since sometimes exam/quiz problems are taken from homework. Great lecturer, she cares about her students, and be sure to ask questions when stuck.
She is kind, caring, and her overall environment is just a safe place to be in. One of the nicest professors in existence, but she definitely knows how to teach. Grading can be tough, and she doesn't allow cheat sheets, but if you do all homework problems and go to her office hours, you should be able to memorize all the concepts.
great professor !
Calc 2 is an inherently hard class but Prof Ho makes it so much more manageable! Lectures are well balanced and always welcomes questions with detailed explanations. Like many other classes, homework is not graded but will absolutely make the difference between passing and failing as all quizzes/exams are very closely related to it. She's awesome!
Definitely the kind of professor that makes learning calc a LOT easier. Genuinely one of the most caring professors I've had on campus. Considering that hw isn't graded and that she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, you don't want to miss out on taking her. Her tests are extremely reflective of the hw, so you won't be thrown curveballs.
im retaking 191 with a much better prof after dropping her class and i wouldn't recommend her if you arent great at math. i felt that her explanations were hard to digest and since homework doesnt count towards your grade, its unmotivating to complete, which makes it harder for you on the exams. if you're willing to put in the work, you'll do okay.
Professor Linda Ho is the best!!! i took her Math 187 class which is a intro to calc, (there wasnt an option to select this class on rmp so i picked 190). Anyways the homework isn't graded but the quizzes and exams are closely related to the hw problems. If you do your homework then the quizzes will be a breeze for you. Shes super caring too!
