Fair sized work load, but really helpful and fair in grading. Overall ok class.

Very creative teacher. takes time with each of her students.She expects students to do their best. i didnt find her ditsy at all.

Marginal teacher..thinks we are still in high school. Large work load, expect to get frustated with her Daybook policy.

I didn't find her ditsy, but perhaps a bit unorganized every now and then. Yes her grading is a little strict, but she does that so that you can improve. She is extremely nice and if you are having trouble then go to her for help and she will be there.

The best teacher I have ever had. Very sweet. Very caring. Though not a super-easy grader, I found her to be fair and understanding. If you have questions about your grade just talk to her. She is very open-minded. Highly recommended. A+++ nice for sure.

She's very helpful, but has stupid class assignments sometimes. The Daybook is the dumbest thing i've ever heard of. Required and enforced attendance; she seems to think we're in high school. Very picky about how things are done.

She is a pretty easy teacher...a little bubble-headed, but nice. take her. she is cool and fun for the most part. pretty easy hw, just have it EVERYDAY...sweet tho

Professor is very good. She is easy. Don't expect to know your grades thru out the semester tho...she waits til after everything is turned in. Some assignments are very stupid...ex: the daybook

I am shocked at the horrible ratings. Do not expect to walk into this class and get a free-ride, this isn't high school. She is tough, but if you go to her, she will help you tremendously. If you think she is bad, wait until you get out of Freshmen year.

I didn't have a very hard time earning an A in her class, and I'm not an English major. As someone else mentioned, this isn't high school. Grow up and do the work.

She was really nice and showed us a lot of helpful activities, but she doesn't officially grade the papers until the end of the semester, so she is VERY unclear with what she expects from you for an 'A' paper

She is nice! I can't see how someone wouldn't like her, unless you don't do your work. You'll work for your grade, but I learned alot of useful info. I can write papers 100 times better than before taking this class. If you don't mind a little effort, then you'll like her!

she is a good teacher. she really cars about her students and never complain if someone needs help. she gives a LOT of work so expact to work 2 hours for her class every day. if you are an owfull writer take her she can help. if she could help me she can help anybody

i really like her as a person but you better take this course with another teacher.. a lot of WWOORRKK she keeps you busy the whole time and you she won't give the grade you want.. she doesn't know what does A mean..

I made an easy A in the class, not sure why so many others are having trouble. Don't take her if you don't want to improve your writing. If you have problems with her, then you are in for some BIG trouble with other professors later down the line. She cares and WILL help you if you go to her and ask, a rarity in the English department.

Great teacher, actually considers effort put towards a paper when grading. Very helpful. Lots and lots of writing though.

Ms. Hofmann is NOT as bad as people make her out to be. She has a lot of busy work, but as long as you do it and turn it in on time, it's as easy as an "A" can get. Just do the basic work, turn it in, go to class, and you've got yourself an A

The easiest class I've take. If you are INTL student its a must, you can re-write your paper during the whole semester until you get A, she will be there always you need help, its a lot of homework, but doesn't need to be perfect for dead lines, as I said before have the semeter to improve papers, got an easy A

She is one of the greatest Prof. that I ever had, very helpful, straightforward, cooperative ,, take her if YOU R international students

Good English Teacher

Actually, I'm an international student, so I always have some problems of it. BUT, she always understand me, and explained well. REMEMBER She's always on your side !

Very easy class, 4 papers that you edit throughout the semester and turn in a final portfolio. Make her believe you are buying into the system and going to the WRC during your conferences with her and she will like you, don't get discouraged by low grades on rough drafts she grades the portfolio easy, I got a 78/100 on my drafts and 400/400 on port

Pretty good prof. Was given lots of chances to improve and revise papers. Did well with only moderate amount of effort.

This is a super easy class, but she's a little odd as a professor.

This professor definitely favors international students. If you aren't from somewhere outside of the US, don't have high expectations for this class. Tons of assignments (generally easy) and 3 or 4 major papers (all made into an electronic portfolio at the end of the course). She treats you like you are two, and class is insanely BORING. avoid her

the best professor ever. Definitely take her. She is so nice and always willing to talk to you and help you. Class is not hard at all if you spend 3 hours in it every week. Again, the best english teacher ever!

Very good teacher!!! Can be goofy, but it's not a bad thing. If you ever need help, she does whatever she can to assist you. She's very understanding and caring! Everything is done online which is convenient. No tests. Easy A if you put some effort. I have never "rated" a professor, but I had to rate Mrs. Hofmann just because I loved her that much!

This class was great with her. In 1101&2, we did a few assignments where we would read and submit responses, but they were easy and interesting, also short. There are a couple of major projectspapers she gives but she will walk the entire class through each step. Stay on task and you will be fine. It's hard to fail, honestly. No tests!

Ms. Hofmann is one of the most caring professors at this university. However, do be careful. I am not saying this is the case but I felt like once I slipped up on an assignment, she started grading me a tiny bit harder than she usually would. Make sure you work extra hard on your portfolio. Ruined my B average in the class which made me mad.

I was shocked at how easy this class was for me. 3 major projects that really weren't that hard. If you do what the assignment asks you will get a 95 (95 is the highest she gives). Do the homework and low stakes writing assignments, lots of missed assignments will bring your grade down. Not big on grammar and spelling. The lectures were boring tho.

She's an alright teacher. Does nothing more than what she should which is expected for a general education class. Very easy grader. Never gives a grade above a 95 and never below a 90. The projects are long and she probably doesn't read through them.

Very nice, requires attendance & participation. Class was discussion based for the 1st month, then we wrote intensely. The website you create at the end is graded harsh and very time consuming. You will write many journals and "Logs" which you will use for your research project & website. Ended up being a pretty stressful course with lots of work.

Sweetest English teacher I've ever had! Weren't given an actual textbook, but a short novel. We would read a section of the book for HW, write up a reflection on Canvas, then have in-class discussions, everyone gets a chance to share their opinions and be heard. We also worked on our final portfolio throughout the semester which was well organized

Ms Hofmann is an excellent first year writing professor. She gives extremely detailed grading rubrics and assignments so each student complete understands the task handed to them. The readings assigned are reflected in in class discussions. She makes sure you get complete & helpful feedback on your assignments.

I took UWRT 1104 100% asynchronous. Professor Hofmann is very specific about what you need to do for each assignment. If you follow the course schedule, there's no reason you shouldn't end the class with an A. I would recommend taking her, but be prepared to put time into your assignments.

If you're not a writer or a reader, get ready. This class is very heavy on reading and writing with the semester-long paper for your final project, but don't skip away yet! Professor Hofmann is an angel on earth, and this has been the most helpful class I have ever taken for my major. If you want to be a better writer, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!

Professor Hofmann was so amazing, emailed back super fast and very helpful if you needed help. The only thing I will say is, THIS CLASS IS A LOT OF WORK! You have a lot of writing assignments but if you do everything, especially on time, you're fine. I'd recommend her!
