Enthusiastic about the subject - knows a lot!! The use of films, lecture, and guest speakers is a plus.
She's very nice and enthusiastic, but a tad spacey...so need to really communicate in order to understand her expectations clearly... overall good class

Very enthusiased about the subject. Has a straight forward syllabus that needs to be followed. Knowledgeable and works to get students to earn "soft skills" for lifelong experiences.
She knew her stuff and then some. If you have ever wanted to learn a lot about nutrition i really suggest taking her class. She really sticks to deadlines though so if you miss a class or assignment your SOL and the final was a little on the hard side but overall i suggest her to anyone taking nutrition.
I question strongly who wrote the other reviews here. This was the worst teacher I have ever had. I am studying Education myself, and this was a horrific experience. It was not only for me but for everyone in the class. I don't know if she changed her ways or what, but she is the only Prof. I have ever submitted a formal write-up for. :(

Despite her unpredictable good/bad attitude and irrational testing, she has a way of delivering lectures that draw you in. She doesn't seem to genuinely like students and has an intimidating demeanor. My experience of was feeling on edge, not knowing what mood she would be in that day and feeling frustrated over the illogical weekly exams.
At the begining of this course I was very excited but this course has been a major pain. This teacher absolutly refuses to help any of the students. She is not clear about what is expected for assignments and her test questions often had answers that were oposite to the textbook we were studying from.
She seems nice at first... BUT she's HORRIBLE....
Horrible teacher. She won't help students, she is unclear, and harsh for not attending class. If you miss a class she won't even give you the handouts for assignments you missed.
I've just finished an introductory nutrition class with Linda at SVC in Mt. Vernon, and I'm not sure what all the negativity is about. My experience was great. She's strict on attendance, and her tests can be really hard if you don't study, but she's actually very understanding and VERY knowledgeable. She's also seems to always be in a great mood.
Terrifying. She is so completely unhelpful, rude and contradicts herself constantly. I took her class in fall of 07...so maybe she's improved since then...but I doubt it. If at all possible, get someone else.
I really was looking forward to this class. Now I hate it. She is unapproachable, rude, and never available for help or clarification. I advise people to avoid her classes. They move way too quickly in comparison to her tests and test material is barely covered in class.
I was looking forward to taking this nutrition class before I met the teacher. She started the class out saying it would be difficult, but I thought maybe she's at least help if you got stuck. She was NO help at all, doesn't answer questions, tests hard, and gives ridiculous assignments that don't make ANY sense at all. I wouldn't recommend her.
She is the rudest teacher I have ever had. She has absolutely no respect for her students, and states that if we have jobs or are taking other classes that we will want to drop her class. Why would you start the quarter off like that? She has her PHD so she feels very entitled, and thinks everyone is beneath her.
Online course: The majority of the time, she would copy & paste lecture notes & exams to our online school board. The copy/paste jobs were screwy/hard to read. On 3 different times, the homework assignments/Exams were missing/expired BEFORE the due date. Very disorganized! The class avg for assignments/Exams were in the 30s! Never again!
she is unbelievable, diorganized, contradictory in her communications, nothing is her problem i am confused on-line class who gonna go to??? she sends mixed messages in her online class.terrible teacher don't take her ever!! save yourself
I don't understand why all the other posts on this site are so cruel. Dr Postl was organized, fair, and very helpful to me. Everytime I emailed her with a question, she promptly responded and walked me through until I was completly satisfied. I wish she taught other classes, because I would definately take her classes again.
I took her online nutrition class and OMG was it so hard!!! The weekly assignments were pretty easy but her tests were so tough! She gives you like 50 minutes to answer 50 questions. the average exam grade in our class was about 60%. When I had to communicate with her, she was rude and unhelpful. I got an A in the class but it was hard to get.
Well you should know two things about this instructor. The first thing is that she is much adhered to her syllabus. If you commit to the syllabus you will do just fine, however, if for any reason you did something different to what is mentioned in the syllabus, no one will save you. You will get zero no matter what. She?s very clear in her syllabu
Dr. Postl is a extremely knoweledgable. If you are taking this class because you want then you will really learn something from her. She has a lot to share and loves it when her students are actively participating. If you are a lazy student be prepared for tough exams. Answers are from the text book and lectures. So read your material!
This was like taking two separate classes. One where you studied the book and the other where you watched documentaries and commented. There was absolutely no correlation between the material participated in class and the tests or textbook. I would not take this class if you want to get a decent grade.
Dr. Kosa-Postl is a brilliant woman. Her class is hard so you will get something out of it. She is very knowledgeable.she is a great teacher and I would retake her class any day. My advice is if you don't have an interest in the class then don't take it because she delves deep into the subject matter. If you do then you will really enjoy it.
Don't take her online class. Terrible
I hated this class because of her. she is not fair at all, adheres VERY closely to the syllabus and if you mess up on one thing, she won't give you grace. don't let ANYTHING be late or you're screwed. She also is not online enough to answer questions properly, though it's an online class. And a lot of the work we did was irrelevant. Never again.
This class was difficult and strict, because the subject matter is extensive and complex. Without the strict guidelines it's easy to get off track or miss something. Fascinating subject and a very pleasant teacher, provided you are respectful.
Very pleasant teacher. Show your interest in the subject by asking questions outside of coursework and your grade will likely jump. I received a 4.0 with ease, maybe because I enjoy the subject???
Her online class is terrible. Her tests are tricky and she can be rather rude when you ask for help. She has very strict guidelines so be careful.
RUDE, inflexible and unpleasant. Do not take this class.
I don't understand other comments about Dr. Kosa-Postl Just because she makes you work for your grade, it shouldn't be hold against her. She was very helpful. She wants you to be a college student and learn. She saved me from migraines! If you listen to her teachings you will learn! She always made time to help me. I would love to have her again!
I took her online Nutrition 101 and would not suggest an online class with this teacher. It was obvious she wasn't prepared for the online class which made the lessons and assignments unclear. The topics are interesting and you rarely have to do the total 10 hours. I would not recommend the online class, though.
I have never once felt frightened to ever go up and ask a teacher a question before. I was eager to do well in this class, and if I ever had a question to ask her, she would simply not answer the question or look down on you like you aren't smart enough. I dreaded going to class every single session.
She was never clear in her instructions; you would think the teacher would catch the hint if everyone in the class either does poor on the assignment, or always needs to go up and ask her questions.
She is very rude and not willing to help her students. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
hello everybody i would like to start of by say that linda was a very poor example of what teaches are at cascadia. she was very rude and was very unresposive to my emails. another fact is that i took 5 weeks of constent telling her that my quizs were not working. my advice to you guys is don't take the class save your self the headache.
other students& I ended up in the counselors offices trying to express our experience inside of Postl's class,we went twice to try and make a change for future students.Projects&Assignments are not clearly outlined for her personal expectations. Also she was rude to the deaf student and her helpers during class.
Her classwork and homework aren't difficult at all. But her rubrics are very unclear. So for big projects you are screwed.
The information that we were taught in class has almost no relevance to the assignments that we were assigned. The class average is about a 62% which speaks for itself, do not take this class it will screw you. The teacher is not flexible and seems to not care that half of her students are failing.
Not helpful to students. Ignored my emails and questions. Rude and disrespectful. Unclear rubrics. Even if you followed the rubric you will get a poor grade, therefore, unfair grading. Had to talk to her a dozen of times about grading. Doesn't try to help student out. Seems to avoid helping actually.
I was really excited for this class and ended up dreading even going. Teacher did not seem to care about my concerns and questions, she would give me short unclear answers to my questions. She would never actually answer my questions directly, she would give me an answer that only partly answered my questions. I had to repeat myself a lot
She wouldnt answer my questions and would send me an email so I couldnt reply which teachers can choose to do. Her guidelines for everything is very unclear and she claims to me she said things in class when I know she didnt. More than half the class are close to failing and she says if everyone is having an issue she'd change but doesnt
Shes the worst teacher. When she gives assignments she doesn't explain what she wants done. i turned in a poster early to see how i did on it and she said it wasnt passable. then the class average for the poster boards was 35%. Take her class if you want to fail.
Not thorough with assignments. Gives few word resposs to student questions. Does not seem to want to clarify any homework or projects. Does not seem prepared and not informative. Everything I learned did not relate and I could not relate it to real world issues. Seemed concerned about the environment but wasted alot of paper that was never used.
I wouldn't recommend this class to my worst enemy. She can be very mean to students and will kick them out of the class, so be warned. I worked my butt off and only got a 3.0. I was very disappointed. I would not take this class again if I had the choice.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. Ive never disliked a professor more in my entire life. I will never attend cascadia community college because of her.
This class is tough. However I found the professor to be pleasant. I worked hard and studied hard, and I got a 4.0 in the class. My suggestion is do not come into this class looking for an easy A, it is a science class and will be hard. However if you do the assignments, take good notes, and take NOTES of the lectures posted online, your set.
Clarity This teacher is stuck in the 70s styles of instruction. More time was spent looking through nutrition logs then on material actually on the tests. Words like "well looks like the class didn't do well" were often used. Class would of learned more if she had solid curriculum. AVOID THIS TEACHER AT ALL COSTS.
A very tough class, but instructor seemed pleasant. Learned a lot, both in the subject as well as in working hard to earn a grade. You will learn a lot taking this class, but prepare to give the maximum amount of time for this instructor/course.
Linda was by far the best instructor I've ever had. Her knowledge on the subject is through the roof. However, you must work for your grade in this course. Linda was the sweetest woman and truly cares about the information she is teaching you. She also was quite funny at times. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who is willing to work hard.
Don't be fooled by her sweet veneer. She is a ridiculously harsh grader, even grading by things not included on her rubric. Her written instructions differ from her spoken. She does not tolerate an opinion different from hers, especially a political viewpoint. The worst teacher I have had at Cascadia.
She is overqualified for this class and she makes you aware of it in a passive. However she is clear when discussing terms and material. Make sure to be all ears to her when she is giving you the requirements for assignments and projects. I have gained new knowledge that I can use in the real world from this class. Work hard!
I really disliked her as a teacher. I took her in a hybrid class, quizzes were done online. Her directions were clear enough, but her quizzes had a lot of typos, and she's the type of teacher who will change one word in a definition, or leave out half of it, so it's still half true, but not entirely, so it's counted wrong. My least favorite course.
She is by far the rudest, meanest teacher I have ever had. She thinks she's all high and mighty and is unfriendly to everyone. Seems sweet on the first day, but then you find out who she truly is. Don't take her.
She is very very hard. I received a 4.0, but to be honest even though I feel like I deserved it effort wise, definitely not points wise. If you're having trouble then talk to her in person, it may help. She is passionate and cares, but is not clear about the material or what she expects at times.
Although it's important for teachers to expect excellence from their students, it is equally important for a teacher to be reasonable and flexible when extenuating circumstances are involved. Dr. Kosa-Postl embodies none of these traits. I do not recommend her as an instructor.
She literally has no idea what she's talking about, and the facts she spouts are laughable. Memorizing all of these things may amount to a decent grade, but you will come away knowing absolutely nothing. She also writes her own "chapters"...which are not peer peer reviewed nor accredited. This is a 101 class, she needs to get off her high horse.
She expects your level of knowledge to be at her level of knowledge which is WAY up there! I don't recommend her. It will hurt your GPA and you will leave that class without gaining any knowledgeShe doesnt clarify things. We had a project and I literally followed the rubric word by word but apparently I missed something but so did the entire class.
Worst teacher I've ever had, doesn't explain anything then expects you to know what she wants. Told everyone in the class they would get a zero on the final project for not having a part of the project she never put in the rubric.
The worst teacher I've ever had. She knows what she's talking about but no one else does. She answers questions with "uh huh" and doesn't give straightforward answers. She just doesn't know how to teach and will take off points on assignments without explaining why. Unless you want to fail and waste your time, don't take this class with her.
This was a very hard class, and I would not recommend it with this teacher. She was not helpful at all. The 5 tests were extremely hard and often seemed to cover things we had not. But worst of all was the amount of movies we had to watch and write about, quoting specific people and their answers to specific questions. Very time consuming!
Her class is hard, but interesting. I granite you will learn something if you take this class.
It amazes me she hasn't been fired by Cascadia. Is this some kind of sick joke? Worst teacher on the planet. Rude and mean to all the students, and treats you like you're a child. I left Cascadia and will never come back because of her.
Extremely rude to students. I am very interested in nutrition and worked very hard but found it impossible to get a good grade. Very frustrating!
There have been a lot of complaints about this professor (as im sure you will read) but from 2014 to the way her class is ran in 2015 the class has changed quite a bit. In my quarter of taking her, there was an in class assignment everyday, only one test (which is a final), little homework, but she is pretty cut throat with grading. So be prepped..
Definite don't recommend, impossibly rude, stubborn and condescending.
I haven't finished the class yet, but I am taking the class now and I recommend for future students to be prepared for what college really is. Lots of reading, homework, and studying, which you will experience with her class. Be sure to listen carefully when she gives instructions on an assignment and read the syllabus very clearly :) good teacher
I'm currently in this class and can say this is by far the worst teacher I've had. Leave out the name of one scientist on assignments and you'll get no higher than half credit. Midterms average score 60 out of 100. Graded me wrong on midterm, had to prove with her own powerpoint my answers were correct. She's extremely condescending
This professor changes the syllabus and how much assignment are worth. Also her tests sometimes have questions on it that were not on the study guide or lecture notes.
I've had teachers with what seem to others as "extreme expectations" but Linda takes the cake. She is extremely intelligent but expects the class to have the same knowledge, reacting in a condescending way when clarification is requested. I appreciate strict boundaries more than anyone but her methods are harming the students' education.
Linda is a good instructor. The content and information she preaches is okay. But when it comes to communication, flexability, and support, shes god awful. She couldn't care less if you pass or not. I'm sure she actually wants you to fail, in her mind its filtering out the idiots. Terrible teacher, difficult class, especially its only a 101 class
THIS IS NOT A 101 CLASS!! This professor is very knowledgeable of the subject that that's were the pluses stop. She gives terrible directions and if you end up in a class with her CLARIFY EVERYTHING. She is Vegan and a Doctor, and what she teaches comes of very bias. Class average was a C. Don't know what they have kept her.
Worst professor I've ever had. Was not helpful at all when asked for help and answered questions in an unprofessional way. Her grading is also horrid, for example she counts sentences rather than reading actual content and picks at everything to mark you down. If you miss any class you will not do well. Do not take her... I wasted time and money.
This class was the least enjoyable class I have ever taken. I get A's besides this. Unable to make up class even though I was severely sick on the one day I missed. They tell you not to accuse a teacher of bias(good or bad) but expect it. The info in her notes is not the same as the book, whole class is all over the place and not a good teacher.
From the first day of class Linda teaches with an obvious bias, which makes it very hard to trust her judgment on subjects she lectures on. When approached with questions you have to prod at her to get any sufficient answer. There are so many negatives to Linda not even half of it could fit here. Please, do yourself a favor, DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE
This teacher was incredibly rude on my first day, and I made the mistake of continuing in her class. She was condescending and extremely unsupportive. She can be really unfocused at times and clearly doesn't care about her students learning, only her paycheck. She'll tell you to do one thing and expect another, but you get the bad grade for it.
Very boring class, and she's quite intimidating. Make sure to keep up in this class.
Linda is tough grader and most dislike her because of this. I had to take this class twice because the first time she failed me. The second time around I realized she makes you work for the grade. She will not be easy on you because she expects you to be an adult and not do things at half measure. I wish more teachers were like her.
Wonderful person, terrible teacher. Does not explain anything well. Anything. Lectures contained misinformation and personal opinions. Open-note study guide for exams but contained things that weren't on study guide. ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT EVERYTHING. It's possible to pass, requires extreme stress. Only take course if required. Pick another professor.
Not very helpful in explaining assignment directions clearly.
I passed the class but shes one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She does not look out for her students, does not fully go over a single chapter in the book you are forced to learn everything by yourself. I could go on and on about she does not look out for her students. Only take if it is your completely LAST option in the world.
I'm not saying the prof. is perfect because her teaching style can get extremely irritating but its not that bad. If you don't speak up, you have NO right to complain. She's teaching a class thats 70% running start kids, and 10% genuinely care about the class. God forbid you have to read in a college class too. Ask your q's and you'll be fine.
I have never gotten such a bad grade in my life, I missed one class and she wouldn't allow me to make up the work.
I almost never negatively review professors, but I am shocked by her poor planning and low effort. Multiple incorrect answers given to quiz questions, broken links provided in class materials, unclear or incomplete instructions, and incredibly low-quality materials. I have no idea how she is allowed to teach this class.
hardest class i've ever taken. missed one day (let her know before) & couldn't makeup assignment worth 15% of my grade that she never told us about before. teaches fale material (googled during lectures). I made 40 & 50 pg study guides for midterm and finals (to have during test) and still could only get Cs bc what was on test was not in the book.
The worst part of this class are the quizzes. Questions were either confusing, formatted wrong, vague, or had incorrect answers. Unclear how to complete or submit assignments. Watching/reading material was low quality and ill-informed. If you need to take this class, do it online. The disorganization is the only thing that makes this class hard.
I wanted to like this class, but I just didn't. I found her class to be unorganized and some of her material was dated. There is no textbook just what she gives you which I think is dangerous. There were a lot of errors in her materials and the information was not very clear.
Don't take this class if you think "it's online, it's gonna be easy", because you have papers and quizzes each week. As long as you do the work, which is not difficult, you should do well. Sometimes she is unclear with her instructions and I have been given an accidental 0 once or twice. Make sure you reach out to her when something is not right.
Worst teacher I have ever taken. Steer clear of her and take anyone else if it's ever possible. She makes up her own (non peer-reviewed) materials. Her exams make no sense and are on information not in the materials or textbook. She is rude and condescending. Avoid her, avoid her, avoid her.
dont take this class
