You hope to God not to get this professor.
Evil takes on many forms. She's so boring. I'd rather naw off my arm. Heck, that Kevin Bacon CD seems to appealing right now...
Great Prof. Easy A if you're willing to put in the work.
She does not know how to teach and gets mad when you ask questions. Talks too fast, and only cares about getting through her material as opposed to us understanding it.
Goes through the course material like a speeding rabbit. Good luck trying to understand anything that she's talking about. Her after class availability to answer questions is near ZERO. And oh GoD, why does she always insist on having her breakfast in cla
Teacher eats while teaching class. Does not explain material, just goes through it. If you have problems, well tough luck!! You can tell she's there just for the money, or busy doing research. She is the worst professor in the school.
Her notes are useless. Don't bother with her, EVER.
Both teacher and textbook are useless. The assignments are annoying but the tests/exams are straightforward. If you consult other stats books + the internet, you can easily get an A.
As a person she is wonderful, as a professor she is wretched. She moves at a rapid pace, she expects us to undestand her clicks on excel, doesn't really stop to clarify her steps and Is impatient with questions.
She doesn't explain any of the material and her final exam included everything that she never takled about in class. It was horrible. She should definitely be fired. Worst teacher I have ever had by far!!
She slaughtered us on the final exam. It covered everything that was not covered in the class...I was not even sure if it was iin the right lecture hall. I am very disappointed with her as an educator.
Nothing in her final exam was covered in the lecture. She doesn't understand the concept of first teaching and then testing what is taught. She neither teaches, nor tests properly!
Her final exam was horrible! She included things that we never learnt in class, and that was not in the textbook. She is the worst teacher I have ever had!
The class was a charade, and teaching was substituted for mere overviews of theories. She misled us with inflated assignment/case marks, and then killed us on the final to suit her B/B+ average curve. This was a sorry excuse for a learning experience.
WOW, does she ever need a makeover. Nice enough lady. Please, learn to teach. Click this and write that on the board does NOTHING for my education.
OMG, this exam was brutal. I learned in the course(by myself) and this exam will probably show that i only learned 20%. Unfair
If you got ****ed on the exam, take it to the dean! Don't let her get away with her incompetence year after year. She has broken York senate policy 026 and the university needs to be made aware! Warning to future students, avoid her like the plague!!

Needs to take a step back and go over what's testable more. There appeared to be no connection between what was done in class & on assignments, to what was on exams. Very pleasant/nice to talk to and very willing to TRY to help you one on one though.
despite all the previous negative comments, I think she was a great prof. very helpful and nice. goes out of her way to help students and makes classes interesting
very boring. unless u bring your own laptop, u'll prolly have no idea what she's talking bout half the time. she expects that by randomly clicking on the cells on an excel worksheet, her students should be able to follow.
I don't know what all of you were talking about. Do your work and it's an easy A. Very helpful.
wow. how is she not fired yet
Prof. Lakatz is a good person in general, BUT should not be a professor due to the lack of clarity and her expectation that you should already know the material. I have not yet written the exam so i am not basing this grading of her on my perosonal grade. If possible, avoid Prof. Lakatz.
I agree that she needs some coaching on how to properly lecture and convey the material. But she is very helpful when I ask for help she is happy to clarify the situation. Her lectures may not be clear but do your work and asking questions when you don't understand.
A great professor; there are actually more A+ grades in her class than in any other prof. - if you aim high - take her!
I heard only BAD stuff about her before taking her class. BUT, she is very helpful and her markings so far are VERY fair and reasonable. She is not the best when it comes to clarity and her teaching style could be improved, but at least shes trying her best. thats all i can ask.
Very unclear, rude and rushes through material
She was fine, stop complaining.
Very very unclear. She probably can't think anything other than Excel cells. I regret taking her class. I suggest people to avoid that section, and take the same course with Professor Irvin Pestano who is much more clear and approachable.
Lakats is quite boring. Even if you want to listen you will be asleep by the end of the 3 HOUR class. I am basically teaching myself the entire course. I'm grateful that the textbook is very thorough. She is also very wordy and complicates concepts more than they need to be.
This professor is difficult marker and very strict on final reports. She doesn't provide helps everytime i asked question she is grumpy and I don't know how she marks our participation!
I have had her twice so far and I think she is OK. Not the greatest but definitely better than the alternative stats profs. If you have questions she will answer them clearly if you ask the right questions. For the marking, most of it is done by a marker so its problably is unfair but thats life.
She's good! I hate this type of course...really, i have no interest. but she's a nice woman, she's genuinely approachable, in office hours and after class, and the exams are always fair. if someone like me can do alright in a course like this, you know she's doing something right.
What can I say, I used the textbook to learn all the material. She isnt that bad, shes a good stats prof, but not a great overall prof.

She is a good prof. if you're focused throughout the class. She has the habit of tossing in imp. stuff in between all the other stuff she explains, and does not call attention to the fact that it is imp. If you don't read before class, or are the kind of person that needs slides to follow along, don't enrol in her sections.
horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible... everything about her is horrible, worst prof ever.. cant teach for nuts.. pathetic communication

wooow, try to avoid her at all costs. she is the worst prof of all time
She's okay, testing is fair and she'll help you if you ask. Better than the alternative!
This Professor has a comprehensive knowledge of her subject area. She always responds effectively to student's questions, no matter how outlandish or hypothetical. Her style of teaching is dry and while a sense of humour is always nice in a Professor, she makes up for her lack of humour by explaining the material well.
One of the most boring courses at Schulich. The prof is relatively boring as well. It's an engineering course more than a business course. Assignments are graded without any feedback. Little or no guidance is provided on what is expected on assignments and group projects.
Avoid her at any cost. She is unreasonable and stubborn prof ever on this planet. She knows nothing abt the course. She is pain.Avoid her.Never take her class otherwise u will waste time and lose ur money with such a rigid and ignorant prof.
It is a very boring course. Doubt if anyone took anything out of this course
Just a poor lecturer. It was a really bad bad course (not the content, just the lectures)
incredibly hard to reach by e-mail especially when you need it the most. the material is actually pretty interesting once you get into it, but the classes are SO boring. She's an incredibly smart person, but she doesn't know how to teach well. No slides are given.. so be prepared to work really hard at learning the material
Difficult class. No slides posted, but stricly follows the text book. She uses blackboard/slides,all available media. She writes, you take notes.helps people engage, spent lots of effort for everybody learn.Answers all questions, clearly.Makes jokes, makes class interesting, gives real life examples, helps you learn.Askes feedback after each class.Recomended
GET OUT OF THERE. Classes are meaningless because they will confuse you even more. If you end up stuck in her class, just read the book. Asking her questions doesn't help much either just because she's not that great at explaining anything.
Very helpful, makes it easy for everyone to understand very complicated issues, full of energy, and her classes are a lot of fun.
took too long to reply for emails...boring...did not really do anything for me when i asked for help in regards to grades....not clear when talking...baddd!!
Lectures are boring, but she does try. Wants feedback after every class and will make herself available if you're having problems.
Only thing that keeps and friends awake in the class is trying to analyze why she chose to dress as she did on any given day. Goes from massive pyjamas to tight leather skirts to outdated 60s sweaters. I guess her Stanford PhD didn't come from her style. And it sure as heck didn't come from her personality. Knows her stuff but not always clear.
Teach in monotone voice... extremely boring... and while teach so fast! Its hard to follow unless u keeps ur heads up all da time, and even those who keeps their heads up have trouble followhing her. Didnt learn much from her... avoid at all cost...
How can Schulich employ a proff like this is beyond my comperhension? She is extremely arrogant and a very bad teacher. Her marking style is also quite mysterious and she does not like to show her final projects to the students..Go figure!
She speaks a bit too quickly, but I have gotten used to it. Very accomodating, likes to link her class to her real world experience of running a restaurant, nice lady overall, marks are average...I actually learned neat stuff on excel. She dresses horribly, but makes it all the more fun to come to class to see what ensemble she created for that day
We have a competition each day called WWLW. This stands for What Will Linda Wear. It's quite an entertaining way to start class each day. Her first test was quite brutal.
An honest review. She speaks like machine - and usually everybody is just lost in a matter of minutes. Does not stimulate any interest and you have to be SUPER ATTENTIVE to follow this lady robot. I learn nothing from her classes and just read and do practice before exam (no point of her presence). Her test is fair though.
she is a very bad prof. She just cannot explain anything. I am surprised she is still teaching at one of the so called best business schools in Canada.
Never in my life have I felt a teacher made concepts so simple and easy seem to difficult and complicated. Linda Lakats outside of her teaching role = seems very intelligent. Linda Lakats in her teacher role = condescending, confusing, unapproachable, uncommitted to her job, lazy and could give absolutely no care for her students.
Prof. Lakats made a subject I used to be interested in, boring and painful. Her marking of papers is careless and lazy. Her dressing sense is atrocious, visible underclothes and broken footwear are not acceptable attire choices, and her teaching style is simply unacceptable.
Linda is a supersmart person, that's for sure. I really liked her classes as she could get quite enthusiastic about the topics and really made an effort in explaining everything although most people in class were not interested at all. She also used a variety of different teaching methods.
Oh man. horrible, though she is pretty much the only person to teach this required class. SHE FELL ASLEEP DURING CLASS PRESENTATIONS!
She's one of the smart types who can't necessarily teach. Personally, I love her teaching style, but it is a little bit like watching the train of thought in her head unravel, and I can see how people who like everything outlined clearly with bulleted points would find her difficult to understand. Still, I think she's a great prof, and so nice!
If you can avoid Lakats. Do.
She is very smart and she is a good prof and you'll learn if you listen in class. It's a good class to get your excel skills and marking and tests are decent. I didn't find the course that hard and I did learn quite a bit. Overall, one of the better profs at Schulich definitely.
Wow, brutal class. She thinks everyone is in her class to become an engineer or something. If you can take another professor go for it -- try to avoid Lakats, she is not an easy professor. She is f. intelligent however!
She expects everyone to know what she's talking about. Talks too fast with awkward pauses in between rushed sentences. Avoid Lakats at all costs.
Linda Lakats is a great professor. I doubt there are many who can teach such a mathematical course better than she can.
she knows her stuff... hard marker tho..overall she keeps the class really interesting with real life applications!
Acceptable for Quant Methods... avoid having her for Operations.
Worthless, Worst, Not fit to teach
some students are complaining about her clothing. maybe a little shabby compared with other B-school professors. but it's not fashion design class after all. I saw many engineering school professors dressing like that. she whined when talking about her father who just passed away. I don't see anything wrong for "emotional". (maybe because I am also
She has PhD, and thinks everyone has a stats background. Runs through the exercises--not very organized. Not helpful in the project. Paper and marking is hard. Don't know why she still teaches. Avoid her!
She may as well be speaking another language. At least the textbook is useful.
I think many students are being unfair to Linda. Although I admit she speaks relatively fast, however she is always willing to stop and answer questions if students have any. As for the math level, I felt was easier than the 1st year stats course. This is schulich, you are expected prepare before class and catch up in class.
very hard to pay attention in this class.. she speaks too fast and the material is like omis 1000. no matter how much she recommends you to buy the excel book though, don't buy it. complete waste of money. the exams weren't too hard given that you studied. ace the assignments = ace the course.
Professor Lakats is sweet, funny, helpful and very sharp. It is astonishing how much fun she makes the class, given how dry the subject material is. I suspect most negative comments about her have come from bratty Schulich undergrad punks who expect every class to be a Justin Timberlake concert. Wake up, little children, you're at Schulich now.
She's a great teacher! Very clear and very useful. Great background in the subject area. Recommend her class.
Excellent prof, made a dull subject fun. =D Absolutely 0 use of textbook which was a fun change.
She's an okay prof. Definitely smarter than 90% of the faculty at Schulich. She talks a little too fast at times, but she really knows her subject. You can throw the textbook out as we never used it. All assignments and exams were very fair.
the prof is no good. not helpful, mean, not good looking, dresses stupid, makes the class mad. I don't know why she teaches?! She should be teaching undergrads, too much money wasted for an MBA course
useless prof avoid her at any cost.grading is as unfair as it can be people with most knowledge of operations and quality class participation got the least grades.
Probably worse professor I have had at the master's, undergrad or professional level. Just terrible. 60% of your grade will be unknown to you as she will not return your group project, your "participation mark" or your final paper. A complete waste of time and definitly not someone who you should learn Ops Management from.
She is not passionate about her class, she just takes maximum courses she can get to teach. The examples she takes in class are not from business but (at times) from her kids performing activities in sequence or in parallel. Her grading is absolutley vague. If already in deans list avoid this course.
A tough course to teach with enthusiasm and interest. But I found Linda to be friendly and good at teaching the subject matter in a clear manner. Not the most accessible for questions however.
She's very nice and helpful but I did not like her teaching style.
she's the worst, avoid at all cost. Not helpful, rude and when you try to contact her to appeal your mark she just ignores you. One of those prof's that don't care because they have tenure...at least if she was attractive and dressed better it would have made things just a little bit better, but not by much though!
She is really hard to follow, by the end of class even the best students are lost. Her excel "labs" are useless, people look cluelessly as she selects random cells and forumlae. In the end the exam wasn't hard but that's because I taught myself everything with the textbook!
very unorganized. unclear lectures. never felt like going to class. a little irresponsible too.
sooo boring but so is this subject, her tests are fair i guess but it's impossible to not sleep in her class. I suggest not going to class and just figuring it all out before the exams
Pathetic excuse for a teacher. Lazy & boring.
Worst professor of the dozens of classes I have taken. Hard to follow, hard to contact, no feedback and little direction. Would advise to avoid her at all costs
Absolutely horrible. She is rude, never on time, and the worst lecturer I've ever had. Classes were unbearable and boring. She yells at students too for no apparent reason. I would COMPLETELY avoid her.
I hated Linda. Horrible prof... Excel quiz was a bunch of bs questions that had no correlation to assignments. Negative marking was HER idea. Not to mention she yelled random times. Calm down. Wish I took Hila Cohen instead. Math is NOT a Bunny. Instead of wasting time telling useless stories, teach us important concepts.
Hard worker, helpful, firm, fair, focused, energetic, smart, etc. :) :) :)
she has a very consistent teaching style, her lectures may be boring, but she conveys the info well if you pay 100% attention.
The material of this course was terrible, awful, useless etc. I don't blame this on Linda. That being said, her style is not engaging; she is trying to get through the material and leave. Not everyone is good at omis and she rushes the material. Imagine explaining 2+2=4 to a 6 year old. To you the concept is simple but they don't get it.
She's a pretty horrible prof. She does not explain concepts clearly whatsoever, literally speeds through the whole class, without any regard to the fact that the class is still on slide one. Also very disengaging, slept through most classes. She is also really bad with getting marks back.
She is a very nice person but not a good teacher at all. OMIS 2000 is a new course for starting 2012/2013 year and she flew through the excel and ERD material. After a lot of people did poorly in the midterm, she did improve her teaching a bit but essentially, she's not a good professor and I would avoid her.
I think she's a fantastic professor. Tells you straight away what you need to know and what you needn't. When you show up for a midterm, final you know exactly what to expect, and if you paid attention you'll ace it. She's crystal clear ... and having graduated I can tell you the stuff she teaches is one of the things you"ll end up using frequently
She might be a good person, an academic, brilliant etc. but she is not a good professor. I think some people just can't teach, no matter how smart they are and she's one of them. This should have been an easy course made difficult just because it was taught badly. The book does a better job.
She is a nice person and she is helpful but she can't teach in a class setting. She goes over the easy questions in class while the harder questions appear on the exams. Her exams were extremely difficult. I would not take her class again if i had a choice
Had her for OMIS2000 and absolutely hated her! She taught way too quickly, didn't emphasize anything important, and so boring! For OMIS2010, she seemed more interested and tried to be more entertaining - so much better. She's really smart, a decent professor, and if you practise all the material and understand it - the OMIS2010 exam is fair.
She teaches courses which involve math and logic, which some people are just not good at. She is incredibly smart and shows it. Flies through the material and if you can't keep up you'll be teaching yourself (very likely). However, if you ask she will answer correctly and quickly because she is brilliant.
Not horrible, but nothing special either.
So monotone. so boring, no excitement. the class is so useless other than the excel portion
She makes the lectures very boring, but given the content, it's difficult to make them interesting. She speaks and runs through the lectures at a ridiculously fast speed. I wish I had the chance to take someone else for the course but she is the only one who teaches the data analytics component of it.
Nice and helpful, look after students' best interest, marks fairly, and interesting & relevant lectures. Great prof overall :) She knows her material well and has both high academic & real-world experience.
She seems really smart! Her teaching style might be slightly boring, with the occasional joke, but she is super clear. Her lectures are never confusing and she answers questions very clearly. And if you have extenuating circumstances, she's very understanding.
Linda's nice, but her lectures are out-of-this-world boring. You don't have a choice in professor for OMIS 2000, so just come to the lectures, grit your teeth and pray for the end to come.
Professor Linda Lakats is probably the most intelligent woman I know. She has a PhD from Standford. She is fun to talk to and took time outside of class to help her students. Good prof, earned my respect!
Professor Lakats was one of the worst professor I had at Schulich. Learned nothing.
Course itself was a bit challenging. She lectured great however and helped whenever needed. She also adapts to the student's needs, in our case she started giving out handouts that the class would do while she walked around and helped anyone who needed it. The smallest change but she noticed a difference and kept going with it.
If you love maths and are willing to work on your own, she is good. She is the only professor who actually opened excel and went to the modelling aspect of quants which is pretty amazing.
She's good
Extremely approachable prof who explains concepts clearly and dedicates a lot of lecture time to letting students try practice questions and make sure they understand the concepts. As long as you show some interest in the course, she's very friendly. Course itself was VERY easy.
Worst professor I've had so far in Schulich.
Shes so smart and extremely reasonable! Absolutely fantastic!
Very unhelpful in my case and unwilling to compromise for something that was beyond my control. I explained my situation and she did not offer me an extension for an assigmnet only worth 2% yet was more than happy to give a week's extension to another student who had run into a similar problem. AVOID. she is approachable but rude
She's a good professor, very knowledgeable and fair. Her sense of humor takes a little getting used to, but she is a good teacher.
Pretty decent prof - explains the concepts fairly well and the assignments are reasonable. She's super approachable and flexible should something come up. Assignments and quizzes are a bit heavy for a 6 week course.
very dry and boring class, goes off on tangents very frequently, goes through important topics very fast and spends lots of time on useless stuff in class that doesn't help you learn whatsoever. BEWARE. take her at your own risk, you will be learning the content on your own.
I found her an amazing professor and I wish I had OMIS with her. She isn't exactly very clear in explaining details, but as long as you take the extra mile to go to her extra help, she legitimately helps you understand things! I found her funny, even though she goes off topic, but very caring. Pay attention and do your work, you will be fine.
very unclear with her teaching styles. She needs to take more time to ensure that her material is understood.
Teaching style is not clear and concise. Goes on tangents way too often. Would not take again.
Linda slow down fam, you talk a mile a minute, explaining really hard concepts. Gotta teach myself everything at home. If you don't read over before class and try and get it, you won't get it in class. Midterms are not easy, but final I found pretty chill, probably cause I studied a whole week for it. Stuff not cumulative, thankfully.
Linda is a nice woman if she's not your teacher. She talks super fast instead of teaching course content. She knows her stuff but cannot explain anything. If you're interested in listening to stories, she's perfect. I advise swicthing out or going to another prof's classes. She is not the worst stats prof but she's still ranks relatively low.
Explains the concepts very well.
Solid choice for either of the stats courses, explains concepts pretty well
Linda talks way too fast- sometimes you don't even know what concept she's talking about. Had her for MGMT1050 and she was horrible, but since the concepts in general were easier for second year stats, it's okay if you do have Linda.
Sometimes has issue with pacing (i.e. will speed up when discussing the more particularly difficult topics, particularly towards the end of module 3). However, the course material itself is pretty straightforward and just requires showing up to class to be able to do well. She is receptive to questions and provides opportunities for exam viewings.
honestly, linda's not bad for second year stats. the course in general is much easier in comparison to first year stats, so don't stress if you do get linda for MGMT2050. only issue with linda is that she talks so damn fast and goes through excel formulas before you can even look at them.
she embarrasses students when they dont know the answer. she doesnt explain things thoroughly & when asked a question she says "what do you think? figure it out". Not a friendly professor. Not helpful when you ask questions. she skips half the slides & wastes so much time in class so you can "figure it out on your own" instead of explaining.
Overall a nice lady. Often difficult to follow along with the work because she'll explain the math verbally instead of writing it down, but I found that she's happy to answer questions about the material (Other people say she's rude when you ask her questions, but I've never experienced that). Not the worst choice for an OMIS prof.
Can not use a computer and refuses to buy a new one. Hand draws graphs on a tiny white board on zoom. Wastes time in class and fills up the entire 3 hours of class time when similar profs finish the shorter lecture in 2. Doesn't prepare before its clear she just improv explaining concepts bc explanations of concepts are kinda awkward.
Awful. She does not even want to teach, don't know why she's even a prof. Gets mad at others for her own mistakes and does not explain the concepts well at all. Get ready to do most of the learning yourself if you have her. Schulich should look to replace her.
The most awful teacher ever. This summarizes everything! If you ask a question, she doesn't know the answer and gets mad at us. I can't imagine how is making money at Schulich, doing this.
Amazing!
Great!
If you're looking for a boring experience, I would sign up in her section. Dry class and material, combined with a professor who will call your name and question out, even if you message her privately. It is very attainable to score a high mark in this class on your own. Just don't ask/expect your mark to get rounded up, as low as 0.1%. AVOID!
Monotonous and boring lectures. She understands the material well and will explain it to you if you ask but wow her lectures are boring. Group assignments are horrible if you get stuck in a bad group. There is a simulation assignment which is required & a waste of time- if you don't understand inventory mgmt/ supply chain mgmt you are screwed.
Issue is to do with OMIS courses in general, professor was there basically as a facilitator. Didn't give back midterm correct/wrong answers (grade only). Dry and slow when discussing qualitative slides and terminology, yet extremely fast when going through excel examples and calculations.
can't teach, doesn't know English, abusive
Absolutely awful professor. She did not teach well and could understand what she was explaining from the slideshows. Didn't give people enough time to understand the material she was teaching on Excel in class and would get mad at you if you asked her to repeat steps. Could not understand the lectures at times and was always frustrating.
Very boring classes. Reinforcements each week are easy enough. Final exam is quite hard and makes up a lot of your overall grade; gets curved though. Participation activities each week.
She have absolutely no idea what she is talking about during her lectures AND tutorials. She lacks basic teaching skills, rushes through the most important fundamental concepts, doesn't know how to handle student's in-class questions, make the class as boring as possible, doesn't listens well to students. Overall a horrible professor.
I would be so surprised if anybody understood anything in her lectures or tutorials. Goes so fast, doesn't explain things, yaps all day. To succeed in this course you're gonna have to do a LOT of self study. To be fair though, it's probably because schulich only gives this course 1 hour for lectures which is not enough for a complicated course.
The lectures can be dry, but the material is manageable with the textbook. Definitely use Unstuck study and other study resources to stay on top of the content - the final exam can be challenging.
Very mean and not nice
Where do I even start with Linda. She treats NO ONE with respect. During the final exam she was shouting at everyone and even the proctors like they were little children. She then proceeded to THREATEN to bring a bull whip and use it on students. And when the students laughed ironically, she continued and repeated that she was not joking.
Terrible professor, teaches way too fast, has an ego, disrespectful to proctors, yells at students during exam, never consider being in her class.
How do you threaten to whip a student, also extremely disrespectful to the proctors.
Terrible professor with no manners and no idea how to speak to others. The lack of respect and utter disregard for others was appalling, especially during the final exam.
Never in my life have I seen a professor act this way in a professional setting. She was SCREAMING at the poor proctors trying to count the exam papers. Not sure why she was SO miserable, it's a university exam, and this is not life or death. She was saying she is going to bring a bull whip and giving people zeros after they finished their exam.
Not good experience as a student
Rating: 1/5 Linda Lakats was unprofessional and rude, yelling at proctors in front of students and creating a tense atmosphere. She even made an inappropriate comment about pulling out a bull whip. Her behavior was unacceptable and disrespectful. I wouldn't recommend her as a professor.
She said she was ALLEGEDLY going to bring a bull whip for students if they didn't listen to her dictatorship style instructions. Very disappointed in how students and PROCTORS were treated being yelled at during an exam when problems were out of our control. Is this how a business school operates?
Spawn of satan as another student mentioned
May the lord guide this woman.
Extremely rude and disrespectful to both proctors, and students. Absolutely no professionalism towards the students and proctors. Absolutely no way for a professor to act, lost all respect I had for her.
Extremely rude and has an ego issue. She was being very disrespectful to proctors, in front of the entire class and said they don't know how to their job. The only one who can't do their job is you, Linda. you can't be teaching others when you don't know how to control your own self.
send her back to stanford
absolutely shocked she is a professor, let alone at a prestigious school like Schulich. During the OMIS2050 Exam, she was yelling and insulting the proctors, asking them if they speak English and treating them so rudely. I've had previous bad experiences with her and chose not to say anything but treating anyone like that is unacceptable. Terrible
Linda said she'll use a BULLWHIP on students during the exam. Such violent behaviour is very concerning! And she was extremely disrespectful towards the exam proctors, screaming things like “Do you not understand English?” and repeatedly humiliating them. Looking down on others just because she's a prof? It doesn't suit her teaching at Schulich.
Lots of preparation needed for lectures and tutorials. If you don't know the material beforehand don't bother even showing up to the lecture because she will just rush through the slides and explain the unimportant things. The tutorials were only helpful for reinforcements, and was the only things actually tested on.
lowkey linda is rude. when people ask for clarification after class, she rushes you and also answers in a not very respectful way. it's not that hard.
Nice lady, crashed out during the exams tho. Do well on the reinforcements because the exams are meant to make you fail. Not too sure why you can get 100 on everything up until the 40% exam which is based on the smallest parts of the course.
Her pedagogy is incoherent and highly inefficient. Worst approach to stats I've seen in almost a decade of higher education. She forces us to work in groups who are completely lost. Class has resorted to other options to understand. AI has been teaching us much more than her. She has taken simple concepts and convoluted them needlessly. AVOID!
Great lady. She is a great professor, extremely intelligent and knows what she is doing. I have no clue why there are so many negative comments. I feel like a lot of people just hop on what others say. I would suggest actually experiencing her teaching before assuming what others say.
Easily the worst instructor I've had. Pointless and useless lectures leave students more confused than when they entered. Assignments are busywork, exams trick not teach, and the 6-week format is a farce. A worthless 1/10 course - an insult to MBA students' time. Stats is critical - the school should treat this component of the MBA with more care.
You wont understand anything in her classes and you need to study on you own. Even her assignments are too hard. It is even hard to get complete grade in the assignments
Not exactly sure what her deal is, but she has zero people skills or empathy. If you are a student with previous quant experiences, more power to you. But the non-technical in our cohort did not fit in, and outside of a few class pets, we were largely lost. You'd think that such a prestigious MBA program would have higher faculty standards.
not sure why she became a teacher. spends more time talking about cheese and the moon than stats. If you have a choice, strongly do not recommend her or this class.
No manners were shown to the proctors; they were just ordered around disrespectfully. We were screamed at through the megaphone and constantly told to do random stuff! Their rationale to not include Excel or scrap paper in this year's exam is barbaric. Felt like I was being treated like a criminal! Course content was acceptable.
The worst lecture format and test format I've ever seen. No one knows what to study. Only good thing is the reinforcements which saved the class mark. If those weren't there the avg would be 50
I was actually excited for this class because I loved stats in undergrad but I'm sad to say that this was my hardest class yet. The lectures did not align with the readings nor with the assignments. Thankfully, she gave us the chance to bring a cheat sheet into the final, and the only thing that saved my grade was the reinforcement assignments.
