Very helpful, no tests, no reading, 3 speeches and easy A. Hint: easy A+ if you speak without any notes.
one of the nicest people you will ever meet, easy class, take home final, no tests 3 speeches, awesome prof
great professor! doesn't give lower than a B, easy grader.. highly recommended! i took this class in the summer so it was only three speeches.. very easy, don't bother buying the book
She's very organized. Her teaching style is excellent. Take her class if you can. You will finish the course as a better speaker. I learned a lot in her class. Do the work and participate and you will get a good grade.
Classes are very relaxed & comfortable. She's really nice but she doesn't teach much -she just likes to talk -don't bother buying the book. No tests/just 3 speeches and a written speech analysis. but it's ironic -she doesn't seem to be that great of a speaker she seems nervous & uneasy
she keeps going on and on and on about her life. OMG! i understand its a speech class, but this is aweful with the husband and the son and the daughter and the car and the house and this and that and the new NY times. i fell asleep during all the speeches(hat trick) hehe. easy grader + nice though!
She is ok not that great as she may seem from her ratings. She keeps on talking all class long and she has favorites who get A's on speeches and the rest of the class will get B's. I just wasted my time taking this class.
Her class was easy but a lil boring. I fell asleep a couple of times in her class. She didnt take attendance until the final speeches. There were 3 speeches: one 3 min and 2 10 minute and a final. She wants yuou to read the NY Times daily. I didnt read it and I practically did my speeches the day b4 and got a B+. She is really nice. easy enough A.
I enjoyed her a lot...Yes, she does ramble and talk about nothing a lot and yes she definately definately has favorites, but she is a good teacher. She lets you know what you need to work on which is good. Don't bother with the Times; its a waste of money and also: When giving speeches, always try to go without any notes...easy A
She is nice and easy. Not so much work: 3 speeches and a final (take home). She has favorits, and this is noticeable when she grades, but over all she is OK. Recommended.
She is very nice lady. You have only 3 speeches and final (take home). She is going to tell you to buy New York Times but don't bother you can get A without it. She is not taking attendance until the fianl speech. Overall she is easy prof.
I dont know why people are rating her a 5 for easiness because she aint easy. Only easy for her favorites who get really high grades and half of them don't deserve these grades.
She talks a LOT, she keeps talking about her family, her memories and so on. Easy class, she has her favorites, but you could be the one if you don't read your speeches. Nice woman but very borring class.
Oh My God!I'm only 2 weeks in and already wanna shoot myself! I guess she means well, but if she tears up one more time, because something in the paper "affects" her "deeply", I'm going to vomit!! Will make a final 'analysis' when I've finished the course: can definitely see the "favorites" angle others talk about:not sure where I stand
She does not teach you anything. The course is called 'Managerial Comm.' but it should be called: 'My Son'. She is boring and annoying, unprofessional and her assignments remind me of fifth grade. again a waste of time and money.
Lopez is sensitive to issues in the world, which is important for someone who professes. Although she talks a lot about her husband and family, I find some of her stories helpful for comparison and makes her all the more personable. She's not an easy grader, but is there to assist you for any confusion and allows for redo if necessary. I'm learning
She's ok. Dont really learn much, but an easy grader and easy class in general
As nice of a lady as she is, as a professor she needs a bit of help, she is completely confused about what she wants, I didn't learn anything, the class was a bunch of BS.. I prefer to learn in College and i didn't learn much in her class.. but some people like that so then definetly take her class!

about learning...I think you can learn a lot if you read the book, and attend class. Professor Lopez expects her students to be independent thinkers, and she takes time to ellaborate on students presentations and papers, and I find that very inspiring.
Oh lord, SHE talks too much. She goes off the subject and goes on and on and on. She will talk about everything from her toes to coffee beans (which are not related to our learning process.) DO NOT TAKE HER...SHE TALKS TOO DAMN MUCH.
She is a very nice person but can go off the topic sometimes. Responds to e-mails every time. You learn good staff. Class is interesting. Several essay analyses from the book for 1-1.5 pages. 2 10 min presentations: single and with a partner. A panel with Power Point on an assigned topic + take home final. Movie in class. Easy A if you do the work.

Easy class, all work are presentations & case studies from the textbook. Be prepared for her nonstop talking about her husband, children, and, sometimes, neighbors. When I say "nonstop," I mean you cant even cut her off. She's a very nice woman, but a bit disorganized.
easy A. She spends the entire class talking bout her personal life. She loves to talk bout her husband brewing coffee. Just do your work and you'll pass. very easy projects
OMG please retire. Talks all the time about her personal life. Doesn't give out too many A's. I spent alot of time on my powerpoints and outlines but ended up with a B for the class. Terrible professor, waste of time and money.
She B'd ME!!! I got the grade today!!!! Terrible I wasted so much time and effort on the powerpoint slides!!! Her grading system is vague so I thought I could have gotten a possible A but I guess not
She's lost in lala land! Thinks she's 25, but she looks like 70 yrs old. My god. she needs to change careers or write a book about her personal life. has favorites that she gives A's to and messed up other students. unorganized wasted of time.
she requires that you attend at least 5 workshops which was very hard for me to do since I work part time. There is one midterm paper and a final 15 page paper. assigns you to groups of 4 and everyone gets the same grade which is really unfair because some people are not as articulate as others. I ended up with a B for the class.
She does go on and on about her family and way of topic during the class, but she is a nice lady. Even though some of her topics and teaching styles are slightly unusual (i.e Seabiscuit, Ballroom dancing), they do have some meaning to the topic. Just do the assignments on time and put some effort into the projects and u will definitely get an A.
This is an awesome professor. She is an interesting person and I always look forward to hearing her stories in class. She is an excellent teacher and very knowledgeable. I would recommend her to any student. She is very pleasant and easy going. You will also hear a lot about her family, especially her husband (all fun stories). Love U Prof.
Where can I start? I learned more about her personal life than about class work. Extremely uninteresting. However, if you do become her pet and do all her homeworks you'll get an A. I don't even think she spends much time reading the assignments. If you don't want to learn much take her for a good grade.
Great professor, very laid back but make sure you do your portfolio work & presentation. She shows several films during the semester that have something to do with the theme of ethics. Has interesting stories to share. Hands down best professor to take for capstone if your minoring in communications. Lopez is also very flexible with deadlines.
She is really nice but her class can at times seem more like her therapy session than a communications class. I know that might sound like a good thing (aka scheme & no work) but it's not. Overall Lopez is very nice & understanding--just excessive.
She's challenging, but definitely was one of the best professors that I had at Baruch. She is very open, honest, and quick to respond to any emails or questions you may have. I was good at public speaking and giving presentations, but her class made me better. She's big on ethics. She's a very passionate person, thought provoking, and an open book.
Class seemed extremely boring at first. But once semester goes on, it feels like a great chill class. It's mostly just having conversations about latest real life news. There is a lot of works (responses to NYT articles, cases, presentation, etc.)But they are not stressful at all.Just do the assignments, discuss topics in class and you will get an A.
She is really a good teacher with a lot of knowledge and patience. She makes you read the NY Times and discusses current issues in class. A lot of written assignments but no tests. One group presentation which she grades extremely leniently. Take her, easy A and you will learn a lot.
Professor Lopez is one of the best teachers in Baruch College. She is hands down the nicest professor in Baruch and is very patient and kind to all her students. Her class is fairly simple, as long as you show up and do your work you will most likely get an A in her class. You will be a better speaker after her class and you learn valuable lessons.
EASY A if you do the work, but BORING! She talks all day about herself, and family. While reading her reviews, i thought it would be that be to hear her talk all class, but it is! if you can tolerate 75 mins of utter boredom, then i guess the easy A is worth it. just do the work, its not too much.
Easy A if you can stay awake. You will hear about her husband, her being from VA, and other random personal trivia. Alot. NYT article review is most time consuming assignment but not difficult. Group project wasn't hard, either- unless you have a bad group. Other than that, drink lots of coffee or wear your shades and take a nap.
"Easy A" class? Think again...Prof. Lopez demands critical thinking in her casebook study approach. If you're even remotely considering getting a job in the REAL WORLD, pay attention, do your homework and turn it in - on time! Or are you just skatin' by? What would a prospective boss think about your work ethic? Here's a chance to get it right!
Boring and easy A! A lot of easy yet time consuming work, she'll have multiple assignments due on 1 day. Talks a lot about her personal life which some how relates to New York Times articles. Make sure to ask questions about when stuff is due bc she is not clear.
She doesn't really teach by the book and she really doesn't use or mentions the textbook. Instead, she simply has discussions on various topics that relay to articles in the NY Times. She has a group ppt at the end of the semester that she grades very liniantly. If you want to learn Critical Thinking and analythical skills this is the class for you
Highly recommend this class but do bring coffee.LOL The first day I thought I was going to fall asleep. She grows on you and you can make it fun with her.She does give you Case Analyses assignments to read and answer questions from the Argenti book, along with NYT articles. Your writing skills and verbal/presentation skills will be put to the test.
this the most sweetest and inspiring professor i had in baruch. She is always someone good to ack for advice and anyone you appreciates a teacher that teaches from the heart and presents real life stories that will benefit anyone
She is so nice- so understanding. She will work with you, no matter what problems you come across. I took two classes with her, she talks a lot but that's only because none of the students chime in, she doesn't really force you to talk if you don't want to. If you participate in class like i did, you learn so much from her, she in an encyclopedia.
Excellent professors through and through. She engages you to think on your own. She uses relative articles of the times to apply your analysis on things. She is a tender individual who is committed to her family. You will feel as though you know her husband. Does not write a lot. Beautiful person
She is so adorable. She is really nice and cares about her students. Her assignments are quite easy. Anything you write be sure to be very detailed you be sure to get an A. She likes details in everything you write. If she gives you an option for 2-3 pages, or a paragraph be sure to write the longest and you will be sure to get full credit + some.
Sweet and kind professor. She may come across as a little weird but she means well. The case studies are relevant and fun.
Do not take her. You'll have to wing everything because there are no guidelines given. Also, you pay to watch movies like Wall-E basically.
She's alright, I guess. She talks a lot though so be ready to listen to all her stories. She's sweet and as long as you are detailed in her case analyses, you will be fine. A lot of the things she talks about involves her family and her experiences, interesting and sometimes she gets side tracked.
Professor Linda is a great teacher. She gives a lot of work but is well worth it. your analytical skills will be put to the test. Take her.
Professor Lopez is nice, and has a lot of stories. But not one thing she says is relevant for any sort of communications. She is a very friendly professor, and I'm sure she would make a great guidance counselor in some office but she doesn't belong teaching in Baruch. If your looking for a class that challenges you and teaches you-this isn't it.
This was a great class regarding ethics in communication. The professor kept the class engaged by relating personal stories to the class. The class presentation, combined with NY Times articles, and a case analysis, was able to make a person understand the meaning of communication and the ethical uses. Great class & great professor.
Great professor who really cares about her students learning what they need to do well. Work was not too hard if you follow directions. I enjoyed the class and actually learned quite a bit about communications beyond what I expected. Wish I could take her again.
Overall, easy A. Case study analysis papers from the textbook, no ned to buy just borrow from the library when needed. A LOT of personal jibberjabber/time wasting. One group presentation on a management topic. If you can stand listening to long winded stories that may or may not have a point and you can write a good essay, take her.
Prof lopez is really sweet and friendy however if you actually want to learn something do not take her. one group presentation, a lot of new york time responses, analysis papers. but she is very lenient with grading. a little confusing when it comes to knowing when assignments are due, other than that its an easy A
This was a great class regarding ethics in communication. The professor kept the class engaged by relating personal and NYT stories to real problem we are facing today. If you are looking for the real deal, she is the one. There is a lot of writing in the class but well worth it. My writing and analytically skills have improved. Take it.
If you want to succeed in her class, write beyond the minimum requirement. She likes it if you put a lot of thought into your writing. If you are a good writer, speaker, attend all classes & hit all assignment deadlines, there should be no reason you shouldn't get an A. I learned a lot. She is a sweet, thoughtful lady. I really respect her.
The class structure can be a little confusing but she is always there if you have questions. Her lectures are extremely engaging and she is the kindest person in the world. She really cares about her student and wants to help them succeed. Take her, her class will brighten your day!
She's the nicest professor ever and always willing to help. She gives extremely vague assignments without any guidelines yet as long as you do them you'll be fine. You need the textbook for the case studies and there's one group presentation based on a chapter from the book. She tells an endless amount of boring southern anecdotes.
So she talks a bit much about her personal life and adventures. So what? Her class is filled with talking, barley any work until a case study and a few article responses are due. She's a kind person!
Very nice & easy professor which I really like about her. She always teach about outside experience than book experience. That s why I really like her class. Only problem is case questions where you need to read a littile bit. Otherwise, she is great professor for communication course.
Sweet woman, but if you want to learn, do not take her. Not one of her lectures had anything to do with communications. All she did was talk about the new york times, and we watched movies like sea biscuit and open water. It could be an easy A, but it's also a waste of time and money. It's just her on her own tangents for 2.5 hours.
THE GREATEST PROFESSOR OF ALL TIME I took her for both com3068com4900. she is sweet lady. cares about students. you have to read NYT and write response and an easy group presentation take whole case time.(dont worry if you are bad at presentation)no essay no midterm no final. only case studies but also easy. if you dont take her ur missing out on A
This professor has been the best experience I've ever had at Baruch College. I've taken her twice and she not only helped me register for COM 4900 but guided me throughout the classroom to make sure I got the grade she wanted me to receive (which was an A). She makes you recognize the importance of reading the newspaper and being vocal in the class
Professor Lopez is a super sweet person. She will spend a large chunk of every class opening up to the class about her life. The class is simple and the assignments are not difficult. If you are confused on what is due, always refer to the syllabus.
I took Prof. Lopez for 2 classes at Baruch, she was very interesting and if your open to new ideas you can really learn a lot from the lectures. Unlike the typical Baruch course, the classes changes and she is very open to giving and receiving feedback. This course isn't meant to be clear-cut but rather encouraging to new ideas and points of view.
One of my favorite professors at Baruch. Prof. Lopez is incredibly caring and always available for help or advice. She is very insightful and knowledgeable in her field. Yes, there is a lot of reading/writing but the assignments are very manageable.
Attendance matters; No in-class exams; One take-home final(20%) Case Study; Five more case study analyses from book(interesting); Five sets of 7 NYT&PBS NEWSHOUR responses(interesting); Extra Credits from event attendance; and one group presentation. I would say it is work-intensive. Prof. Lopez is nice, but the whole class is about her stories.
Heavy writing course, but it's a lot about your thoughts on articles and case studies that are relevant to the course material. If you just pour out your thoughts on readings/case studies, you will get an A. Professor Lopez is one of the most caring and understanding professors at Baruch. A wonderful person who means the best for all students.
Not too much to be graded on so make sure you are on top of your assignments and hand everything in on time. Sweet professor, prepare to hear stories of her family and life but in a nutshell the group project is interesting when everyone presents. You end up learning a lot due to the variety of topics.
This is a great professor! Take her!
In the world and especially at Baruch College, we need professors who revolve around ethics. At first she seemed very annoying and cares too much, but at heart I believe that she genuinely wants to proliferate the good of the world. Sweet, flexible, and knowledgable (PHD!) she has been one of the professors that impacted me the most at Baruch.
The class is an easy A. Effort really counts. 4 news responses of 7 articles each, 1 portfolio of 6 two page papers (like the news responses), a flourishing person essay, and 1 group presentation. The professor is super relaxed and flexible. Nothing to worry about. She does talk a lot, but is superrr interesting! She genuinely cares about everyone.
Professor Lopez is such a sweet professor. Perhaps one of the sweetest I've ever come in contact with at Baruch. Her teaching style is one in a million, shes shows great knowledge within her field. While entertaining the class with her witty jokes! What a great way to teach and inspire learning
Easy assignments... got full credit on everything, but when get the final grade back I received a B. I really don't know why, but when you email asking why she responds in some stupid way about nature. It's one of those teachers you don't know what to expect.
Prof Lopez is the most genuine, loving and kindhearted teacher ever. The lectures aren't totally totally necessary, but she does take attendance and you will learn a lot by being there. There isn't a ton of work but it certainly adds up in the end if you don't work on parts of the portfolio earlier on. Easy A & loved every minute. Definitely take!
LL is the BEST professor I've ever had! She has a genuine, altruistic spirit & is just a beautiful person. Class was a breath of fresh air I lookd fwd to. It made me slow down and appreciate the time. Her stories and ethics situations challenged our critical thinking skills, and sparked some lively discussions. I thoroughly enjoyed this class.
This class is easy and doesn't require much! There's a group presentation, 4 very short news article responses, and a final portfolio due at the end of semester (made up of about 6 papers, 2-3 pages each but she gives instructions like 2 months in advance). She does bore you to death in lectures, but just do the work and you'll get at least a B+
No communication skills at all for a com professor. She never gave grades for assignments once during the semester, she just sends emails saying "full credit" or "well done". I got "full credit+" on everything and she even said I have the best writing skills in the class. She made me believe I was in the A+ range but when grades came in I got a B.
I took Linda Lopez Spring 20, with the transition to online. Sometimes Professor Lopez can go on tangents during class, but I think her tangents add a nice personal touch. There is a decent amount of work but nothing that will be overwhelming to someone who has the drive to do well. She truly cares about connecting with her students.
Only 3 assignments ,all semester, lots of detailed writing. This class was supposed to meet online but then after a month of waiting we were told there would be no class meetings, only to complete the modules by the end of each month. Prof sat at home everyday doing absolutely nothing until it was time to grade at the end of each month. Unorganized!
Ok, so idk about everybody else but I just did what was told in the 3 big module assignments every month. I submitted around 14-16 pages of work for each one. Id say dont procrastinate the work and you should be fine. I do not think theres attendance for this class and most of this is just you doing a little bit of work everyday. Easy class!
Nice women. She gives a lot of reading but its not required. 3 LONG essays and she just gives letter grades for them. If you take the class make sure you write as much as you can. I got A- on all 3 papers and she gave me a B+ in the class so be careful.
This is an easy class but you have to do the extra work and clarify what the assignments are with her. The three modules with the tasks aren't really clear because she tends to get ahead of herself and write whatever comes to mind before getting to actual tasks. Not that big of a deal just be more proactive. She's really nice and open to email.
Took the class asynchronous. Graded on 3 modules. 1 module due every month. Be prepared to read. It's a good class. Found it easy. Pretty much writing about your opinion on certain topics. Professor answers emails fast. She post a lot so if you need clarification on something she will promptly help you. She is kind and considerate. Take her !
Professor LL is an awesome individual, gives great feedback, she takes her time to post to keep us on track as we complete the modules I appreciate that she is very responsive I love her personality and character she cares about the students and the grade. The modules are not hard. Take her dont think about it just take her class. You will love it!
She's not bad. Just 3 modules but I received an A , A- and an A but ended up with a B+ in the class. So be careful
A very kind and knowledgeable professor. I had many heart to hearts with her throughout the entire semester. She is very inspirational and the work you complete in her course is meaningful. She gives 3 module paper projects for the semester. Mine were quite lengthy(20pg) but other students had shorter ones so it depends how you answer her prompts
The best professor you can ask for, she cares a lot about you and truly wants you to write as your heart goes. She will give amazing feedback and share her many stories with you. She truly is the best and easy to understand.
