at first i thought she was so horrible but then after seeing the curve she gave me i love her. its a tough class but if ur a soc major u have to take it and it is possible to pass although u probably dont deserve too. she was pretty helpful in office hrs.
Good overall and acts nice. Soc of Gender class is easy.
She is a very good teacher. She works slowly and tries to keep her class humored which is very tough at 8:20 in the morning. She tries to make everyone understand her material and always makes sure everyone understands.
Recommend. Good topics. Clear explanations. Fair and not high stress. Study, do your paper and you will do well.
she's alrite, her part of the final is made up of old tests. just take good notes, write down everything she says and you're good to go.
she is just boring.
What a nice teacher...I was failing the class and went to her and she told me to work hard for the final and I did and she passed me with a C...Such a nice lady! One of the best SOC teachers at the school
Very helpful and fair teacher. Her tests are pritty easy and passing is not to difficult
Very nice woman. Very easy class. Read the books and you'll be set. Exams are pretty easy as long as you read. 2 midterms, one presentation, NO FINAL!!!
She's a fair teacher. Work hard and you'll do well. Take good notes. She has a strange sense of humor, but you can tell she's nice and wants her students to succeed.
Tough bet great. She expects a lot from her students but always fair. There is a lot of reading and lecture material. NEVER miss class. Although tough i leanred the most from her that any other professor. If you put in the effort then you will get the grade. If you dont want to work then dont take her class!
Tough class. Go to class, take notes and do the readings and there will be no problem. Tests are a little tough. If you don't want to do work then dont' take this class. She is very interesting and very nice!
Easiest class ever. 6 homeworks, attendence, 2 midterms NO FINAL. She is so nice. Basically gives full credit if you hand in anything decent. Study for like 2 hours per exam, go to class (I usually just read the paper in class, you just have to sign the attendence sheet) and get an A. Take it for an easy A.
This professor is horrible I don't know who she paid to write those other thing, but she is horrible! I onlu missed one class all semester did all 10 pionts worth of the 2 homework assginments and studied for all exams and she failed me meanwhile I am got B's in all of my other classes. Her tests are essays fomat hence biased grading system
dont read into easiness she is so boring i thought my eyes were gonna start to bleed.
That person who gave all 1's is a moron. Professor Wicks, even though she gives boring lectures, is very kind to the students. You get a study sheet for every exam. I saw her once give a student the chance to re-submit an essay for the test.
I tend to agree with the person who gave all 1's. I do not think she is a fair professor. She made and example out of a person in my class repeately and the student was trying hard to pass the class Her review sheets were not very helpful becasue they were so broad and covered everything on that topic. I would not reccomend her
eh.. it was ok. i actaully learned. i didnt understand at 1st, but then i went to her office hours and i learned the material. and i got a B!
the class is easy. attendance is mandatory, but u can get upto 4 absences. Exams are straight for the book and her notes. no trick q's. She is very nice and helpful during office hours. It's easy to get an A if you just read. and go to class. Hw's are jokes. only 3. take it and get an easy A
I did what a good college student's supposed to do; read the text, and study for the tests, and yet...I flunked her class! She is harsh with attendance-if you're 6 minutes late it's like you never came. If you're a commuter, don't take her class.
Moody as all get out.... She can be real nice one day and real cranky the next. Everyone says she teaches better in office hours, but what if you don't have the time ? (I had a class right after her class).
Easy class, a breeze if you read the text book and come to lectures. You don't even need to come to lectures so much. The lectures aren't as boring as some others say. The class itself is interesting, but moreso for the material and not the actual prof. The prof isn't a **** or anything, she's actually nice to students.
she is stupid ****ing ****; she neeeds to retire she too old teach and make a proper judgement on grading student.
its true that the class is boring, but its because of the material...ishes really helpfull if u go to her...and she gives the essays in advance...so if u prepare for the essays ur set
boring lectures, but she is still a very nice person. Also, she really does help you out with you visit her office hours.
Bad Professor. Quite boring. She even made the TA's make up an assigned seating chart for Javits 110. And the textbooks and the reading are extremely boring.
She is great! plus she explains material very well. Need help? go visit her during office hrs. She will do her best to help you.Tests arent hard. However you cannot be late for the class.
Professor Wicks seems kind of unapproachable, but she is a lot nicer & more helpful one-on-one. The class is very interesting, and allows for a lot of class discussion, despite the huge class size. She does take attendance, but her policy is fair. Tests are easy as long as you go to class, and final has the same questions than on previous tests.
Really nice teacher. At the beginning I thought she would only call on certain people if they raised their hands even if the person had their hand up for a looong time. AFter, I realized she wasnt doing that on purpose. Her exams are pretty easy. Read the textbook. She takes attendance during the middle of the class.
geat teacher. she is very fair- your grade is what you put into the class. you just have to be on time!
Its annoying because she takes attendance, & than after the first week makes you choose a seat, and has assigned seating with a seating chart that you sign in with for attendance. The tests are kind of hard but manageable. If you go to the lectures & do the readings you should do fine. There is 2 or 3 HW assignments but they pretty easy assignments
I learned a lot in this class. She tries to include the students in the lecture (which is great, since it's such a large class), but sometimes she tends to ramble a bit. She covers all of the textbook reading really thoroughly in class AND attendance is part of your grade - so definitely go to class! Tests are really fair if you do your part.
she is completely boring....she rambles on and on about nothing and takes attendance very seriously...
Great professor, but beware there will be assigned seats and attendance definetely counts. Homeworks aren't too bad and the tests are very fair, just be sure to do the reading. A little more than half the final is taken directly on questions from first 2 exams so save your tests!
Very nice person. If you know your stuff the class is interesting. Make sure you read your textbook it really helps.
Boring like no other, stands in one place and doesn't move. Spends more time trying to quite class then teach what she wants to get across.
the definition of boring. some of her tests are impossible to pass without a curve and she's never clear about anything thats going to be on the test. its unfortunate that its a sociology requirement and shes one of two professors that teaches the class.i had to take the class with her twice and nothing has yet to sink in. Definitely try to avoid h
Easy as pie. If you do the readings, there's no reason why you shouldnt ace her tests. Her lectures are very informative. Mandatory attendance and assigned seating sucks, but it gives you an extra 8 points onto your final grade. If you dont do well in this class, its your fault. Her exams are really easy, and the paper is easy too.
She's a nice person. Lectures can be really, really boring when she doesn't ask questions and you don't answer them. Tests are easy but the course grading is impossible! It's hard to get an A.
Nice lady. Boring lectures but easy class. I didnt read A PAGE of our text book. just used the study guide and read some of the articles in the reader... i fell just 3 points short of an A. ill settle for the a-! take the class.
this was my second attempt at this class. Professor wicks was always available. Her lectures were very clear she did not ramble. Exams multiple choice. Class reading are use friendly and relevant to modern day life. There are two t.a.'s to help you. The final is the easiest exam because it's based on the previous 3 exams.
Most painful class I've ever taken! Try to avoid her, she'll make you go to sleep! She talks without giving enough time to take notes, her review sheets are vague, and attendance is mandatory. At least she repeats questions for the final. AVOID!
Generally easy class. Textbook is helpful but not nesassary. Attendance is mandatory, counts towards grading. Do the study guide, pay attention in class, and an A is not a dream. Lectures can be boring.
oh my god. i don't like her. she made me hate sociology. i hate her voice and everything she says. the class is easy, though...sleep during lectures & read the text and you'll get an A. =)
I liked her. She reminds me of a mom, even though she is monotone most of the time she grades fairly on what is in the readings and lectures. The final has A LOT of the past exam questions which she gives you to review! Take her, you'll do fine!
Great intro class. Her syllabus was designed to not overlord us with information but just enough to understand and interpret. Attendance counts and exams are quite easy if you just read the textbook. Go for the A.
It's funny, after the first class i thought she's be a hardass but she turned out to be pretty cool. If you go to class, you'll get a good grade!
Prof. Wicks makes social theory easier to understand and assigns homework/reading that will make it all easier to learn. As long as you read the material you'll do fine and she's willing to help with whatever you need. Great professor, really knows her stuff.
Nice , and Very Willing to help you if you need further explanation etc. However her lessons are extremely boring and she covers very little of the readings. She made Assigned Seats and enforced a Attendance Policy ! What is this Highschool ? If you like SOC good class,i suggest just skimming the textbook for key topics.DONT TAKE IF NOT INTERESTED
Very nice woman, monotone voice which can cause drowzines. Two exams and than the final. Easy tests if you do the reading in the textbook, which is not hard reading at all. While reading take notes, it will help because on the exam it will ask you about a specific person in any section of the chapter. Good class, attendance mandatory.
Good professor, Good DEC F, overall easy she takes a lot of her test questions from the review book, just study the book, review questions and know the basics about articles in the reader and you will do fine.
seems like a mom to me. Tests are all textbook and article readings. Barely anything from her lecture is on the test. Tests are easy overall, and she is realllly nice. Attendance is mandatory, but it sucks because any time you get an exam question wrong, its half a point directly off your final grade! Do you best on those test's, and hw's!
She is a nice lady, but her teaching styles drove me up a wall. The tests are based on general knowledge ( so skim the textbook/articles ) her lectures are pointless. The tests are about 30 points each which means if u get a 23 or a 24 ur screwed. I used class time to study from the text book, trust me nothing he says is usefull, dont waste ur time.
There are two homework assignments, four exams and attendance counts (it's all or nothing with the 7 points). Reading the textbook is helpful but if you don't read then definitely pay attention in lecture since she's pretty good at going over most of what you should know from the book. But if you can READ THE BOOK!
This is a tough class. Exams are tricky although the final is half questions taken VERBATIM from exams 1,2 and 3. Attendance is mandatory (don't miss more than 4 classes and you'll be fine). Two homework assignments near end of semester. Nothing too difficult. Extra credit offered for each of the three midterms. Also offers upper div writing reqs.
She really is an excellent Proffeser. Her lectures were always interesting, but her tests mostly come from the text book. The final was mostly recycled questions, which was good. Overall, good teacher, nothing bad to say.
In my opinion, by far the worse professor i have had here. And her TA is no better. they are both incredibly petronizing and mean-spirited. Stay away. You will study your tail off with no avail.
I read the comments b4 and let me just warn you that she no longer gives multiple choice exams they r now short essay which are NOT very easy at all. The only way to pass is to go to her office hours
3 tests all essays but she gives you all the questions in advance - the only thing is you have to study 10 essay questions, the final is multiple choice 65 questions. There are extra credit and attendance is mandatory. She seem a bit prude but shes a good grader. Let her know who you are and you'll be fine, she plays favorites
Assigned seats and attendance sucks, but she makes the class easy. Only two exams, one "pretest", a hw, and extra credit chances. If you read everything you have to read, then you'll do well. The final is the easiest exam since close to half the questions will be taken from from the previous exams.
I took her Intro to Sociology class. The class is extremely easy - very little work required. If you just read the textbook, the class is a piece of cake. Even though she take attendance, you don't have to pay attention since everything's in the textbook. The only bad thing is that the lectures are boring and not very stimulating.
TAKE HER CLASS IN THE SUMMER AND YOU WILL LOVE HER!!!!...I took 361 with her in the Spring and I couldn't keep up. So I withdrew and took the class with her in the summer and its like she's a whole new person!!!She gives the answers for her 1-essay test before the exam, extra credit 9wayyy more lenient)..take it SUMMER time its worth the 'A'
Attendance is mandatory, if class is in the morning do not take it. She's a nice lady, but her lectures are partiallly irrelevant to the exams, so bring your textbooks to lectures and use it as studying time. She's very helpful if you go to her office hours. But becareful, there might be a long line outside her door.
there is assigned seats and she takes attendance...if u read the textbook u should do fine in her class. I didnt pay attention in her class but i read before the exams and still managed to get an A
not alot of work but going to class def helps and counts. gives you ?s that will be on the test as long as you do those youll be fine because they are essay. extra credit and 1 1pg write-up. really does try to help students.
This class is quite easy. Took 105 with her. Her tests is solely based on the textbook. The additional readings were not used at all. Sure, she takes attendance but you can just read the textbook in class. Plus she gives you extra credit! Found it to be an easy A.
Not a hard class at all if you keep up with the readings and take notes on the overhead slides (yes, overhead she is pretty old :P ). There are assigned seats and attendance but it helps trust me...if it is mandatory chances are you'll go and do better! Seat near the front so you don't doze off too much.
shes super nice. the class is very imteresting i dont think anybody can be bored. she looks all careing like a mom but the tests r extremly hard. she pulls questions out of nowhere. attendence is mandatory bbut ull wanna go so thats not a problem
she is absolutely wonderful and HILARIOUS! classes are so entertaining. easy subject, easy material. go to class! and read the book & you'll done fine. i got my first and ONLY A in her class
tests were difficult and takes attendance, plus too much reading
Book and attendance are required (she takes attendancec and has a seating chart!) Tests are straight foward from the book. Lectures are repetitive but helpful. Tests are non cum. If you do the readings and go to class an A is attainable! SOC/WST majors take for a DEC K!
talk about a boring class. wicks just lectures almost every class and gets some class discussion going about gender. sit next to a friend. textbook isn't completely necessary, i got a B w/o it. if attendance wasn't taken im positive that 90% of the class wouldnt be there. tests are mainly common sense, no attention in class is necessary.
She seems a very sweet lady but is a real stickler for (self-imposed) rules like a seating chart and mandatory attendance. Textbooks are expensive by Sociology standards and should be optional.
EASIEST CLASS IN STONY BROOK PERIOD. Terrible teacher though. I have a 4.0 gpa and let me tell you she has a terrible attitude. besides her personality, she makes u buy $$$$ books that r useless even though the articles in 'seeing ourselves' book is online. terrible teacher. ez class
Her lectures are a bit dry but she is very intelligent. My gripe is her tests. All mult. choice but questions are not clear and answer options all feel like tricks. The detail she puts in a mult. choice test she should just give short answer test. The tests feel like she is secretly showing off how well she understands the material compared to you.
Lectures weren't so great as she went off topic numerous times. The exams are multiple choice, but the way she words them are tricky and makes me wish it was a short essay based exam than a multiple choice.
she is extremely boring especially if you are not interested in sociology. i heard marrone is a much better soc105 professor, and i wish i had known that before i took this class. her grading policy sucks. attendance is mandatory, you have to sign in. i have her at 9:35 am and knock out every single class.
The key to this class is to study the Visual Summary at the back of each chapter of the textbook and to study her PP when she puts them on BB. Attendance is madatory, so I went, but I brought other homeowrk with me. She's pretty boring and there's no need to pay attention to her lectures or take notes fi you look at the PPs.
Professor Wicks is a little boring, but the class is easy. If you read the text, the lectures are just more clarification for the most part. Attendance is mandatory and it should be because she posts all lectures on BB. If she didn't take attendance, no one would go. Read the text, go to class, and you'll get an easy A.
She is the most boring person to ever exist. Easy grade but not worth your time. Sociology is easy in general. Take with Marrone. I wish I had switched out into her class when I could have.
Waste of time to sit in her class and listen to what she says or read her slides... I assumed lecture would make up most of the material on the test, WRONG. Everything that is on the test is in the book. Most of the stuff on the test is stuff she never mentions in class DONT LISTEN TO THE LECTURE BRING YOUR BOOK TO CLASS AND READ IT INSTEAD!!!
A little boring, but she opened my mind up to the world around me. I am constantly analyzing the sociological patterns around me and I really hope to do something useful with sociology because of professor Wicks. She makes up for the slightly boring classes with her genuine care for the subject matter.
Easy Class as long as you go. Attendance is mandatory as you do have an assigned seats. There are 2 exams, 2 pretests, and 1 homework assignment and a final. You got to read her tests carefully though. As long as you go to class you should be fine because most of the class is common sense.
Memorize the textbook and readings if you want an A. And listen to her opinions. Because she asks "What does your professor believe..." as multiple choice questions. Shes nice, can be boring.
Sociology 105 is a pretty easy class. Do the extra credit and read the textbook before the tests and you should get an A.
Eh don't take it with Wicks. I found the tests too vague and focus too much on the outside reading. These MySocLab were given for each chapter which usually span to ten pages and she assigns two/three per chapter don't get a surplus before the test because these will be multiple choice. The textbook is useless when it comes to tests too.
intro to soc is honestly the easiest class at stony. she is incredibly helpful if you go during office hours, and she is also quite nice. I attended lectures (it's mandatory to go), did not read the MySocLab articles, and read the chapters a few days before the test, and i got 93 and above on all 3 exams. Also ,there is only 1 homework to do. Easy.
she is really vague, dont take her class!
She is a very nice lady, but strict. No phone use; she will call you out. Attendance is mandatory and there is a seating chart. For the test: make sure to read the articles that she assigns.
Thought this would be an easy DEC.Nope. She has slides that just cause for discussion to lead anywhere. You don't learn much of anything in class and you will have no idea what you need to know for exams. It is a very broad range of material. You just read a lot and hope to remember the right things. Attendance is mandatory and seating chart.
This class is not an easy A. Took it freshman year first semester and it was horrible. Too many readings from my soc lab that are too long, the tests are broad and confusing, its confusing to know what to study. Seating chart, no phones, no A.
Tests are all over the place and vague. Not an easy A.
She's a nice lady. Lectures are rather boring. The textbook is way more interesting and goes way more in depth. Her exams are all over the place. They are tricky, but manageable if you study. You have to pay attention in class because she asks questions like "what does your professor think" as exam questions. Read everything she assigns!
Class is very dry and repetitive. You basically sit there and just listen to her babble on and repeat stuff. Attendance is mandatory which is the only reason you go. She treats you like a high school student. Read her slides and the chapter summaries and use common sense and you should do good
Quite possibly one of the most ignorant and uneducated people I've ever encountered. If she can become a professor, none of us have an excuse. She assigns seats, takes attendance, and her tests had questions like "Your professor believes... ___" despite her beliefs being wrong. She's stubborn and has selective hearing. Avoid if you can.
Her class is very entertaining. She tells stories to keep student engaged. Mostly importantly, she tends to use herself as an example for almost everything. No need to study too much for this class cuz its mostly common sense. NEVER BUT TEXTBOOK/accesscode FOR THIS CLASS, WE NEVER USE IT. Never even use it!
This is not a very difficult class what so ever. All you need to do to get an A is to read the textbook (THOROUGHLY)and google the summaries of the articles she assigns. If you want an A take this class.
The Prof is easy. tho it may come to a cost considered restrictive to most people- assigned seatings, strict attendance policies, stops class if a cell phone is seen, drags the lectures on right until the period ends, & treats you like your in High school. But the class is easy, Read the Soclabs, book & slides- spit it out on the exam- Get an A.
easy class, annoying professor. use any version of the textbook you can get your hands on cause in the end it doesnt even matter. It's all mysoclab questions. She also likes to use questions like "your professor thought that one time on some afternoon when she was muttering some nonsense under her breath that.." Easy class, but not fun at all.
The class is very day itself. as long as you do all the homework and reading for jocks and burnouts you can get an easy 20ish points. but she is very annoying in class but a decent teacher
Attendance mandatory, would suggest reading- at least the readings in the reader, skim the textbook. She tries to make boring material interesting though. Tests are multiple choice but semi- difficult and not really straight forward. Not a bad class though
The topics covered in class aren't exactly the most intriguing. However if you're interested in the material, it definitely is fascinating seeing as the subjects build on the foundation of sociology. There are four exams including the final, which is the only cumulative test. Do the reading, attend class regularly and you'll pass
Great professor! I took this only as a DEC and ended up loving the course. The material is interesting and the workload is not too much; only a few papers and some reading. Easy A.
Loved the professor & the class! She really opened my eyes to the historical context behind sociology. She presents the material very well. Exams on every two founders we learned, that were easy, if you studied! She gives extra credit assignments and attendance points, so go to class!
This is my second class with and I absolutely love her! She is funny and knowledgable. She cares about her students interests . Power points are very clear and useful for exams. She often gives review and review sheets and will always make time if you need help. Lectures are a little boring sometimes but she breaks up with fun discussions.
If you can find another soc 105 professor, do yourself that favor. She reads her lectures verbatim and speaks in a monotone. She talks forever and easily puts you to sleep. She assigns seats even though there are over a 100 students in the class. Common sense class but do yourself a favor and take the class with another professor.
Avoid her if you can. My GPA dropped so much because of that!
This is my second class with Professor Wicks, and I will be taking a third with her next semester. She is a very nice understanding person who constantly makes jokes to break up her lectures. She is very friendly and always responds to emails ! Just be ready to read, Soc 381 requires about 7 books that you read but most are interesting !
She is very passionate about her subject but its clear she doesn't write or even read the powerpoints before class. She lectures the entire period but references the text almost exclusively in her exams. Because the class size tends to be large for intro she isnt much help so go to class and see the TAs if need be. Take advantage of mysoclab quizes
I liked her alot.
For a DEC class, this woman thinks way too highly of herself. No other college lecture would give you assigned seats. If you're late, even by a minute, you're marked absent and you only get 4 for the semester. She's hard to listen to with her monotone voice and hour long lectures. She puts me to sleep easier than a lullaby. Would never take again.
I took this in for a DEC in the Fall of 2014. She's pretty boring at times; however, some topics are interesting so some of it was worth listening to. Doing well on the final raised me from a BB+ to an A- though. Tests are mostly straightforward. Although sometimes, she asks questions about what she specifically said in class.
Professor Wicks is an amazing professor. She's really knowledgable about the subjects and doesn't force her beliefs on students. She encourages class discussions that help you to better understand the material but doesn't ever tell students their interpretations are wrong. She genuinely cares about her students.
her lectures are pretty boring, but her tests are so easy especially if you keep up with the textbook readings. She's also the cutest woman ever and you can tell she really cares about her students.
The most monotoned thing I have ever sat through in my life. Its a very easy course and you can pass on your own by just reading the slides she posts since thats all she does anyway. Also, you can't skip class because she takes attendance in her lectures so its extremely painful to sit through. Lots of reading if you don't pay attention.
Her powerpoints are outlines of the textbook and she highlights the textbook sentences on Parsons for you to know.I slept every class, read the textbook, got an A. Attendance mandatory though. But I'm sure you can just use the powerpoints too. 2 Midterms are easy, one 2 page paper and Two 10 question quizzes on J&Burnouts.
attendance is mandatory. The online textbook is useful
Don't buy the code, just rent the textbook. I got an A- because of the curve and extra credit. Her exams are all based off the powerpoint and the textbook. The quizzes are easy. It was an easy class but she is my least favorite professor, she is rude & does't care about the students. Easy grader when it comes to her essay (0nly one).
The subject matter she taught was interesting, and grading was fairly lenient. If you "miss" more than 5 classes you get 0 credit for attendance. And in her eyes, being late by a few minutes you're absent. She's nice during class, but awfully stuck-up in her e-mails. You might as well communicate with the TA because they do all the work for her.
just don't sit in the back, or bring electronics...
Prof. Wicks gives a lot of reading material, but she goes over it in class. She is fair when it comes to exams. She is understanding to the demands that current college student have. She allows for assignments to be turned in late. I have taken so far 2 courses with her. I will be taking my third one in the Fall 2017.
I really enjoyed her class. She was very nice and funny at times. She is a easy grader and she outlines everything thats going to be on her test. You just have to make sure you read the textbook and articles because her tests can be very detailed sometimes
Horrible. learned close to nothing. hard to follow her low monotone voice. TA is useless. total waste or time and money. she doesnt review before the exam at all. only 3 of them and 2 homeworks that weigh almost nothing so do well on exam or fail. tests are meant to trick you n barely on lecture. would NOT recommend
One of the worst professors Ive had at Stony Brook - possibly among my other 2 universities as well. She is condescending, allows no electronics (including tablets/laptops to take just notes), and randomly goes and rants and singles out students during her lectures. The information in her slides his out of date; Google is more helpful. Just rude.
Dont even know where to begin for a 300 level course, shes so horrible. Stuck in older times, rude, very condescending, and doesnt allow anything but pen and paper. No laptops, despite thats how I take notes for every class. Teaches nothing in her monotone rants and assigns a lot of random work. Just nasty, ranting, and unhelpful. I would avoid
So horrible never thought an entry level class would be so hard. I transferred from suffolk and this was unnecessarily hard. She is rude and stuck in the past. Dont take her if you care about your grade.
Took Prof Wicks recently and felt the semester lasted for years. She has a low, boring voice and presents material with her own opinion. Thinks she is the only one who is right and forces that on you. Rude through emails and just a dry class. All the students were on their phones.
Avoid avoid avoid. Very rude when asking for help. Material is very one sided, brings up politics way to often. Theres no need for a proffesor to try and instill their views on you. Attendance is taken, if you are late you are absent
She had strict rules on electronics, but as the semester went on she forgets to pay attention to that. The tests are extremely confusing and meant to trick you. They are mostly on the textbook. I did not really utilize the book but somehow managed to get an A- in the course. I also did some extra credit which definitely helped.
The lectures are completely pointless but attendance is mandatory. She gives assigned seats. The tests are solely based on the readings which are super long and repetitive.
Did not like how the class was run: assigned seating in a lecture hall and no electronics. Attendance is mandatory, yet the lectures are posted online. The material is very dense, and you will need to read the textbook on your own if you want to do well. There is much information in the book that she will not cover, but it may appear on exams.
Tests are very confusing. She reads off slides during class while having attendance mandatory. Avoid if possible!
As a hard working student who's about to not be able to graduate because of this class, please do yourself a favor and just don't. If you enjoy a professor who doesn't understand that you may work and be taking other classes, zoom technical difficulties every class and lack of prep for really hard exams, take her! She sets you up for failure. don't
Pretty average professor. The course was interesting, tests weren't extremely difficult. Could be condescending towards students at times. Overall okay choice.
