Linda is a great professor in lecture. She knows the material well, and does a good job at answering questions. If you can, take Geo160 at the same time as a geo intro course. Exams are fair, but do require some memorization (ie rocks and minerals) If you need help, just ask her.

I have to disagree with most of these ratings. Class was boring, to be sure, but it was easy. Aside from three problem sets, there was no work (I only occasionally did the reading). She gives you study guides before the exams, and if you take enough time studying from that and reading what it tells you to study, you'll get an A, easily.

Linda is unable to articulate what you are being graded on and often gives class assignments about things we haven't covered in class. The average on most exams was a 73%. She says that a 70 is right where you should be and doesn't try to help the class get an A or B. If you just want to get your NWQR credit, don't take - will ruin your GPA.

I loved Professor Morse, but she hadn't taught this class in over five years when I took it last year. She is a kind woman who gives incredibly difficult tests. There's a lot of material that is covered on this introductory level geology course. It took up by far the most time compared to my other courses.

Geology 101 is one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. I needed my NQR credit, but I wish I would've taken Biology or Chemistry over this class. The grade is based on 2 Exams, Class Participation ( activities graded on accuracy), and the final exam. I wish I could have avoided this class at all costs.

When I took this class Linda was the only teacher who taught it so I didn't have a choice. The geology department needs to find someone who wants to be teaching. I've never experienced a teacher that was both so unwilling to work but also so abrasive towards students. No material to complete labs, no effort to teach, condescending insults.

Very nice lady and I have nothing negative to say about her as a person. Her GEOL101 class however, is not for anyone who doesn't love geology. Not a bad class, but you are expected to have a background knowledge and the reading is long and boring if you aren't very interested. But if you are a geo major, definitely take it, she's a great lady.

I signed up for GEO 101 thinking I would knock out my NQR requirement with an easy science. Geology was not easy. Linda often would not show up for class and not tell us. She expects everyone to become geology majors and to have prior geology knowledge. Her lectures were barebones and then would proceed to give insanely difficult test.

These reviews do not give an accurate perception of Prof. Morse. She is a great teacher, very caring, and a fair grader. I didn't do the readings ever and am doing perfectly fine in the class. It is not a freebee by any means but definitely my second easiest class (behind calc 108) so basically my easiest class. She is amazing, can't stress enough!

Linda's lab is structured by a lecture following a lab that you can complete alone or in groups, and she is always willing to answer questions. You have one week to complete the lab test on your own. This class is difficult because of the subject matter, not the professor, and the only time I really had to study outside of class was for the final.

Linda was passionate about the subjects she taught, and I enjoyed each class I had. This class had a lot of exciting field trips, and Linda was very knowledgeable about Virginia ecology. Most of our writing was based on lab reports that were very straightforward, with one longer final research paper (which had a lot of flexibility on the topic).

For a professor that has been at the college for 33 years she could have at least taken the time to learn how to teach. She is a nice person and cares for the world we live in but just can't teach you about it. Weed out of the geology classes and just get it done, not fun but only a credit. Linda's research must be great to keep her for so long.

Calling this class a "lab" is stupid. This is an "exam". How many? 6. All closed note, and all extremely difficult. You are expected to memorize a gigantic list of things from the labs and lectures which combined take about 30 minutes on avg. This is the hardest class I've ever taken and it was for 1 credit. If you can avoid it, please do.

Professor Morse's course was mainly graded by class assignments, which you are given class time to work on, and two presentations. While the grading criteria for the presentations is confusing, she is not a strict grader. As long as you show up and participate, as well as put effort into your class assignments/presentations, the class is an A.

Linda is a good professor who will provide a solid foundation in geology for this class. The grading criteria are nonexistent for homework assignments, which are a large proportion of your grade, in which she will deduct marks for the smallest errors. You have to give a class presentation on a given national park, but no actual exams in this class.

However considering we only had 3 homework assignments, 2 presentations, and no exams it was pretty free. But she grades very critically on homeworks so make sure to double check those and beware of having the same answers as classmates!
