I took ASL I after already completing the language requirement and didnt need the class, but wanted to learn. Professor Nicosia is very laid back and wants her students to succeed. She will review the work to ensure every student understands the lessons in order for them to succeed. This class is definitely worth taking regardless of necessity.

She is very funny and makes class fun. Took her in the summer and the classes where like 5 hrs long but barely noticed because we where being interactive. Very easy give small assignments but super easy. Two quizzes and one final really easy she tells you anything you need to know. She wants to pass you! Answers all questions at all times.

Great language to take over the summer, otherwise you'll be on a very long waiting list for this course, it's a hot class and she makes it fun to be in school in June and July! Meets the language requirement and you'll actually learn to sign, I looked forward to going to school - crazy, I know!

Professor Nicosia is a great ASL prof! She's fun and engaging and I was surprised how easily I learned a new language even though class was just once a week. Make sure you go to class and do the assignments! (There's only a few.). She assigns one or two online classes, which are usually watching a movie and then writing about it.

I came out of ASL II being able to confidently approach a stranger in NY and have a short conversation with them. It is a class that will challenge your personal perspectives, allow you to express your ideas, and it is a class that truly makes you grow. This class is fun, energetic, and culturally rich. Summer session was truly awesome! You truly learn the language quicker than you would learn a spoken language. She makes class fun and has great stories to go along with the material so that you remember signs much more easily. Papers and text are important but totally worth getting and doing.

Taking her class is a great experience. You learn more than you expect you would. It's more than an intro to ASL . You learn Deaf culture & Sign Language. You need your textbook, but it's a very interactive class, both help you use what you learn. You can ask her questions about signs you want to learn etc. **Take the Summer Course**

She is the best!!! Taking ASL during a pandemic half online was difficult but if you showed up to the in person class she gave you credit for just coming and you dont have to do the homework because we do it during the class! Take her classes!

If you show up to class, participate and complete the midterm and finals (which are multiple choice exams that allow multiple attempts), you will be fine.

Professor Nicosia is so kind and easy going. I took her class online during the summer for ASL 1& 2 and she recorded the lessons and they were simple and straightforward. The assignments were also pretty easy: each week you would take a short "quiz" (it's really a hw assignment) and make a very simple flipgrid video it's not hard at all.

Professor Nic is an amazing educator! She is HUMAN, and will treat you as such! If you put in the work, you will pass. That being said, do not take this class for granted. It requires constant effort, but passing is very achievable. She is amazing!!!

I would very much recommend taking her class. Everything is explained in a way that is easy to understand. She also provides a lot of videos that she either makes herself or finds that are all very helpful. She is relatively quick with answering any questions. She doesn't make the class overly difficult or complicated. Just overall a great prof!

The class was once a week and we hadly stayed the entire lecture hours, we were dismissed when the lesson was done.
