This was a blended course. Not too helpful, not too hard though i guess.
Very helpful and will work with you
Willing to help. Gives entire class a curve at end of semester. She's not very clear in class, but her power point presentations are online for the blended class. there are pop quizes (most wednesday), participation quizes, and bonus quizes.
One of the worst professors I've had. She doesn't give examples in class, and she doesn't seem to know the material that she's teaching at all. Was by far my most frustrating calss I've taken.
BIOL1406
one of the worst teachers i ever had in my inter life...not very helpful...too boring...reviews sheets are worthless...lectures are worthless...need clickers everyday...to flunk the quizzes the she gives 4 or 5 minutes before the class...DO NOT take her unless u love biology and get it very well...but we ready to work your a** off....
This the worst prof I have ever had! Tests are ridiculously hard and don't follow her power points. She's comfortable w/ 2-3 students passing an exam. She curves at the end so you never know where you stand. She knows her material, but she struggles w/ properly teaching it.She belongs in a lab researching , not in class room w/ my GPA at risk....
Avoid... Do not take her class.....the worst!
Avoid this class unless you really really know you biology. She's a hard professor and if you're lookin for an A, then forget about it
She is a very helpful teacher if you go to her office hours in class it's difficult to understand what is going on unless you REALLY like biology she gives curves at the end but would not recomend her if you really want to learn something.
do not take her! her reviews only help for about 1/4 of the exam. u need to know every detail about everything to get a good grade on her lecture exams! she will help you out if you go to her office hours but her in class teaching is horrible, very boring to listen to and she is always forgetting about stuff you need
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! It is EXTREMELY difficult and not worth the effort. All she does is read the power point and make you learn useless things in lab that aren't even on the exams. SO MUCH INFORMATION! Not worth it. Over 50% of my class has dropped.
She is a very nice woman and a halfway decent teacher. She curves the grade at the end of the course. Zoology is not the entry level course I was expecting though. This was the hardest class I have ever taken in my all my semesters. I struggled everyday just to pass. If you are looking for an easy-a, DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!
Nice woman in outside of class but runs a hectic class. If you don't mind learning the material on your own then you'll be fine, but otherwise she just kind of expects you to know material and then she goes over it in class. She ppts and grades online. Involves a lot of work! Didn't learn about actual animals till last 3 weeks of school.
She gives weekly quizes over the material she covers in class. Those are easy. The labs are easy to do. Lab Exams are hard. Tests are pretty hard also, but she does give study guides. You need to know everything about the things she puts on them though. Curves final grade. &Gives extra cred. quizes online that are very easy w/ google search.
nice lady, shes terribly boring to listen too. alot of material to learn but if you study you shouldnt have a problem. you have daily quizes of the material learned in class. the lab exams are hard... as well as the tests. she gives alot of bonus quizzes online and curves at the end of the semester. overall shes not too bad
Class is difficult, but she is always in her office. Read ahead, and don't fall behind to succeed. Start reviewing for exams 2 weeks prior, and DO NOT expect to study the night before and pass this class. Plenty of extra credit, and a reasonable curve. Great person, and dedicated to students
This was my second time I took the class (I had dropped the first time due to a terrible prof). She is great at explaining things and encourages you to ask questions. She is always available out of class and if you make an effort to see her, she will bump your grade up. The labs were easy, tests were pretty hard but she provided reviews. Good prof!
Very boring lectures. Be prepared for daily quizzes. Lab exams are very very hard.
She says UM so many times in class its actually distracting. She does know her material but rushes through everything! I did go to her office hours but that wasn't very helpful either. She does however give a review but I would not recommend her to anyone.
She is nice but she goes through he power points too fast. She expects us to already know what she's talking about. I even went to her after class and I was still confused. She isn't a helpful teacher. And the amount of times she says UM in annoying and distracting. Her tests and lab exams were also very hard.
I fell asleep in class everyday. Her powerpoints are confusing. I went to see her outside of class and it wasn't helpful at all. She says UM way to many times. Tests and lab exams are SUPER HARD!
Confusing powerpoints, hard to stay awake, gets behind in teaching, but expects you to know everything. reading quizzes every day. FINDS TEST AVERAGE OF A 58 ACCEPTABLE AND "EXPECTED FOR A SCIENCE COURSE". no curve. I usually have As and I work my behind off for Cs.
no clue how to teach, just reads some slides really fast mumbling under her breath and expects you to get it. Not concerned that her class average is a failing grade, not D... F.
She is the hardest teacher I have ever taken. I have never made less than a B in college and I got a C in her class. I tried very hard and did all extra credit and got a C. She is happy to see that everyone fails the tests because that means she "made it hard enough." She has daily quizzes that are also hard. Horrible teacher. Get out of her class!
Extremely rude, only helps certain people. Raised my hand for 10 min in lab many times & she ignored me. Tests are ridiculous along with daily quizzes. This was the worst class I have experienced in my entire college career because of the professor. I don't know how she still has a job
Took her 1407 after 1406, did not find it any more difficult. Of course it's not an easy A, but if you study the book you will get the grade you want. She was very helpful in making sure to post all lecture slides and reviews, give heads up on quizzes, and explained clearly. STUDY THE TEXT and you will do great. I was sloppy with reading & got a B.
I am taking her now for Biology 1407, I am not good in biology, but this is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. She has a total of 4 test, plus a final, and 4 lab test, not including the online assignments and labs due everyday, she doesn't take into account that students have more than one class. Worst professor ever! Do not take her!
The class is super hard, but if you read the book, and understand completely the material you will be fine. Read the book and focus on what she explains on her lectures. Her exams are so hard, you have to study a lot. She loves to help people and answer questions, it's 100% recommendable visit her during her ofice hours.
Biology is a very hard class but Prof. Richardson tries her best to explain things clearly and help you better understand the information. The lectures are long but you can learn a lot from listening to her. Her test are pretty difficult but she does provide a review! There is a lot of online HW and she will email you if she has a quiz coming up!
Mrs. Richardson is a very nice lady and loves her job. The class is very difficult but biology is always hard. Her tests are hard. The lectures are always long with a lot of information in each. She gives lots of online homework and study modules but do them and try and make A's on them because they could really help your grade in the end.
Mrs. Richardson was a great teacher! Her tests weren't hard compared to what I'm used to. Some of the questions were from the Dynamic Study Modules that she assigns the Sunday before the test. Do all of the OLHW and extra credit! Read over the book and you'll be sure to get an A.
Do NOT take this professor.. Nice lady but not a great professor. Tests are RIDICULOUSLY long and very tough, there's almost no time to finish them. She gives hard daily quizzes, and she's the harshest grader I've encountered. Be prepared to use your book and read. Do yourself a favor & try to take someone else.
She goes over lectures extremely fast, she doesn't take out the time to actually teach the material. She expects all the students to know what's going. how can they when she gives new material every 5 minutes. You basically need to teach yourself. She is very nice and clearly loves what she does, she just needs to reconsider her teaching strategies
By far the hardest class I have ever taken. You literally go through 5 chapters in one week and expect to know EVERYTHING by test day, and the chapters are extremely long. Assigns so much hw. Teaches extremely fast and doesn't have time to actually explain it. I would never recommend her, not even to my worst enemy. I hope you get the point.
Do not take!!!!!!
Hardest class I've taken yet. Her tests are very long and cover A LOT of material. I highly recommend you start studying days in advance in order to retain the information. Test averages were always in the 50's or lower. Although it is difficult, her class is doable you just have to put in the extra time and effort.
Really difficult class. She's a nice woman and is incredibly passionate about what she's teaching, she's just not very good at it. VERY specific tests and not very specific lectures. Test averages were always in the 50's. Do the extra credit and use quizlet for online homework/quizzes. Her grading criteria is weird so I somehow ended up with a B.
The worst teacher I have ever had, she talks in circles and does not help you with class work. She told me if I didn't understand her teaching then that class wasn't right for me.
The tests are very hard and I had to stay up every night before a test. Lectures are long and boring. Richardson is a very sweet lady and is passionate but the tests are just way too hard and specific. Her reviews were decent. Try not to take her but I did end up making a B barely.
Nice lady, terrible teacher. Needs to reevaluate how she teaches. Seems unprepared every class and it sounds like she sings the lectures. She talks in circles, skipping important topics and leaves blanks in information. Test averages in all her classes are around 50s and she does not curve. Horrible experience, have to retake the class now.
This class is by no means easy. I failed EVERY test from lab and lecture. She offers a lot of extra credit through Launchpad (online homework). There was a ton of information, hw, and assignments but she really does care about her students. I honestly shouldn't have passed but I showed up for class and put in some effort. I WOULD take her again!
As a freshman I panicked when I failed every test. My lab partners and I could never pass the lab exam either she made them so excessively hard. I pulled all-nighters for these tests and still could only made a 60 at best. She does NOT CURVE and does not give much extra credit. She does not give help when you as for it, sarcastic. DO NOT TAKE HER!
I won't lie, this class is very very very difficult. The hardest class I have even taken. I studied for this class about two hours a day all semester. The tests are very specific and the average for all the tests are about a 50. Somehow, I still managed to make a B in this class. She is very willing to help you outside of class.
This class is way too hard. I really thought it was more animal related than what it was. Overall the teacher doesn't explain well at all. The test are way too complicated. WOULD NEVER retake this class again.
She's a really sweet lady and wants everyone to understand everything but she isn't that great of a professor for 1406. It's like she didn't really understand the material as she was teaching us and so it was all really confusing. Gives lots of EC tho to help ur grade. Just write down what she puts on the board & study that & you should be fine.
She is a pretty good prof. Sometimes she is confused by the material bc she hasn't read over it before the class. Offers tons of extra credit which can save your test grades Tests are lecture based, write down what she puts on the board. Can be disorganized when writing on the board, so leave lots of space in notes so you can write it in order.
Her lectures never had enough information to prepare anyone for the tests. The labs were all trying to memorize different things with no help. I only got through this class with things I had learned before I took this class.
This professor is a very kind lady, the class zoology is just such a hard topic I had to read the chapter twice and all the PowerPoint multiple times and still couldnt understand the material. The online work and the labs are tedious as well
Shes very hard to beginnner students. Would not take her as my first BIOL 1406 prof. The only reason i got an A because i had the class before. Would not recommend to first time 1406 students. Shes very nice but she has too many questions on the test. She gets very nit picky on her tests. Her questions come from lecture and she usually has 70 ?s.
She is bad at lecturing and she is very slow at posting needed class material. The test are tricky and often difficult to know exactly what she is looking for.
Ms. Richardson is a great person, she really cares about her students, but her lectures are confusing and she tests on chapters even if she doesn't have time to lecture about them in class. She is really tough in her tests and goes off on tangents in her lectures. I wouldn't take her again, but she's okay. You really have to study and work hard.
Really nice lady. Test are super hard averages in the 50s. Doesn't curve till the end but gives 50+ points of EC.
This class is so hard and this prof makes it way harder. Her tests make no sense and contain so much content it was impossible to study for them. The only reason I got a B in the class is because of her extra credit and curve of our final grades. I dreaded going to this class, so I definitely do NOT recommend taking this prof.
Many of these reviews make Ms. Richardson seem way worse than she really is. Yes, the tests are difficult but she gives SO much extra credit. If you put in a little effort its really not that hard to make an A or B with the extra credit and curve. Don't be scared by the reviews on here.
Mrs. Richardson is a great person but not a great teacher. Her lectures are all over the place and they often don't even cover the material on the test. She is not exciting in lecture and half of what is written on the board is not important when it comes to the test but rather things she spends far too much time drawing.
Hate this class. 5 hours of in class time a week with an additional 3-5 hours of homework a week before looking at studying. She also does not curve test and has a super large project at the end of the year. Avoid at all cost.
very hard to understand what she is trying to say in lecture. Bounces around quiet a bit.
It is quite a bit of information overload so get ready to read, read, and guess what? Read some more. There are 'Review Keys' accessible for use, but not always effective. Unfortunately all class long professor talks for the whole time, not really interactive during lecture. Also, got a iClicker as required, only used half way into the course.
Professor Richardson is so sweet but her class is just very hard. The exams are very hard so get ready to study a lot. Even with a lot of studying you might not do good.
Prof Richardson is a really nice lady, her teaching is just not organized or informative enough to prepare you for tests. Lab pracs are actually easier than lecture tests, but both need to be studied for very heavily. Reading the textbook and taking notes over it before class is a good idea. Gives lots of EC but wouldn't take again because of tests
This is a great class to take during the summer through a blended course, where the lecture content is online and the lab portion is in person. Mrs. Richardson does a great job of reviewing for both lecture tests and lab practicals, and she explains what will be on the tests.
Mrs. Richardson is the sweetest professor ive had in my entire college career. she really does care so much about you and your grade and shes willing to do anything to help. she offers lots of easy extra credit and drops your lowest quizzes and online assignments. shes extremely thorough in reviews for exams. she wants you to understand.
Shes an awesome teacher that actually cares. She wants you to pass.
Just because you actually have to put in effort doesnt mean this class is hard. Just do your assignments and pay attention in class and you will pass. Shes on your side and does everything in her power to help students pass regardless of the heavy subject matter. She is great! People on here are haters. This is Blinn. Its not that hard.
She is an extremely nice person and replies really quickly to emails and is really approachable about asking questions! This class was hard considering the tests covered 4 chapters of details and hard subjects. There is a lot of extra credit offered and a lot of online homework. 4 lecture tests, 3 lab tests, a project, homework and a final!
Linda Richardson is a very nice lady that cares about her students. However, this class is HARD. Get ready for a lot of homework and studying. My social life was cut off because of this class. The test are extremely hard and the grade average is usually around 50. She gives extra credit but idk if its enough to pass you.
DO NOT TAKE HER. Her tests are super hard.. after every class everyone would talk about how hard they are because no one could pass and the average for every test was around a 50. She doesn't care honestly. THIS IS THE HARDEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. My grade for when I studied and didn't study for a test were the SAME. Awful class and teacher.
She is a decent teacher who is not very good at lecturing, but she is a really caring person. Responds to emails, let me pick when I wanted to take my final and gives extra credit. First two chapters are mainly biology, the last two were harder and were about animal phylums. Lots of memorization.
Professor Richardson is a very caring person and Ive really enjoyed taking her class. This class is very difficult, but if you put in the work you should be fine! She is very intelligent and knows what she is talking about during her lectures. She also gives a ton of extra credit which really helps with everyones grade.
Difficult class but very doable if youre willing to put in the work. Ms. Richardson ended up being one of my favorite professors Ive ever taken. If you go into office hours she is willing to give you one on one tutoring. She genuinely cares about her students and you can tell she is passionate about what she does. I enjoyed her lectures.
I ended up finishing this class with a B and I was honestly super grateful. I loved Mrs. Richardson as a person, but be prepared to spend 8 hours studying for each test. Test averages are usually around a 50 and I did not get above a 74 on any test. However, with all of the online homework and labs, that is what makes youre grade stay afloat!!!
Genuinely cares about her students but her lectures are long, she talks fast, and they're hard to follow. Tests are hard even when you study. She gives a lot of extra credit options and they are so helpful. Her lab class is frustrating because they dont always work and it gets confusing.
She makes this class unnecessarily hard, reviews are nothing like tests, her lectures are all over the place, and she doesn't explain the labs at all. 8 people have dropped and we are halfway through. Study your notes and make this class a top priority and you will pass but do not expect to have extra time. The online HW is easy but tests are hard
Mrs. Richardson is a very sweet lady but I CANNOT learn from her teaching style whatsoever. Lectures are all over the place. She goes through the slides so fast, you cannot copy them. I made the same grades no matter how hard/long I studied for the exams or didn't study at all. Reviews are LONG and given out as late as two days before the exam.
Professor Richardson is super caring and willing to help if you ask. Although, her test are extremely difficult and her lectures tend to not make a lot of sense. I truly believe she doesn't want to see you fail but wants to work for your grade.
Professor Richardson seems like a sweet lady who cares about her students but shes all over the place!!!! Lectures were boring af and she was just reading from slides and her notes on the board are confusing. Online homework takes forever and the tests are nearly impossibly to pass even studying :(( dropped 3 weeks before the final
Professor Richardson is a very kind lady, yet her class is very challenging. Her lectures are long, sometimes she even drags them into lab and you are probably better off just reading the textbook. Her tests are very hard to pass no matter how long or hard you study for them. I think almost half of the students in my class dropped before the final.
Richardson lectures like a bat out of hell. Her lectures are very strenuous and require you to pack a lot of information into a very short amount of time. You can never write notes because she talks too fast. Her lectures have no correlation with the material. I'd say stay far away... P.S. she give 2 major test the week before the final.
She gave 4 lecture exams, lots of hw, 3 lab exams, one major project, and a final. I knew this class was going to be hard, but she took her time with the easy material and zoomed by with the hardest topics. I got so overwhelmed with her because she was all over the place. Her exams were worded easy, but she teaches and lectures hard and confusing.
If you like a challenge, this is the perfect class for you. Averages for every test were around 55-60 and more than half of the class dropped. Take notes wherever the notes are on the board because she likes to draw arrows everywhere. Study groups for online homework are KEY to getting good grades on those and be ready for all-nighters.
Professor Richardson is EXTREMELY caring. If you care about passing the class you will. She has a bunch of extra credit homework in case you miss something and she is constantly trying to better the course. Even during the Covid-19 transition, she made everything SO SIMPLE to access and continue learning as normal. Absolutely recommend.
Do not listen to the bad reviews on here. She has a very good understanding of the material she teaches and offers a lot of extra credit. Through COVID-19 she has provided an almost seamless transition to online and always welcomes feedback. Great professor who knows her stuff.
Mrs. Richardson had an okay start to the semester, at first I thought she was really wonderful. However, her lectures are so spotty, confusing, and hard to understand. I never knew what to take notes on, and that made studying for tests impossible. I almost failed when we switched online because there was literally no way to know what was due.
DO NOT TAKE RICHARDSON! Her lectures make no sense whatsoever. She would spend 5 minutes talking about something but then would say dont worry bc its not on the exam. She was very rude and said that she could tell this girl was a nurse bc she doesnt care about how she looks the girl had a messy bun... the average grade was a 65 for exams.
