I liked Sherony a lot. She is very nice and helpful. Will work her hardest to make sure everyone gets a good grade in her class. If you have an A or B by the time of the final you don't have to take it! That was a big bonus. Take her if you can.
Best instructor I have encountered so far at UW-L. She will do everything possible to help you understand the material. She is a must take for anyone getting into accounting.
I don't like her at all. She doesn't like international student. If you are international, don't take her. Because she will let you get an pretty bad grades. I think, I be treated pretty bad, i went to her office, she kicked me out by answering other Americans questions.
She was an awful professor. Didn't know how to teach the material and was always flustered. She is very helpful which is nice, and offers a lot of extra credit.
Has little or not accounting background. However, she is a very easy teacher. If visit her during her office hours she will give you an A. Take her if you want an easy A.
She does not know anything about accounting. If you ask her for help, she will only give you the answer sheet and have you figure it out. Also she does not like people asking homework questions, so good luck if you don't understand it all completely. She admitted that she hates teaching this class so if possible AVOID taking her!
She is a great professor! She is very helpful as long as you go and ask her. She likes when people ask questions in class. She doesn't just give you the answers. She makes you work and think about accounting. I enjoyed her class.
She is crazy but I liked her. Go to her office hours if you have questions because she is willing to help you understand. Homework is hard as well as exams but they are not impossible. I recommend taking her!
Linda is the best accounting teacher! There's a lot of material to learn, so she usually only spent one day on each chapter, which didn't give students time to ask questions. If you go to her office, she's always willing to help! Homework on every chapter, E.C. offered, 4 exams, pop quizzes, and you don't have to take the final if you have an A.
Class is mandatory (pop quizzes) and all's she goes over in class are a few notes and a lot of example problems. Asking her questions is hard because her answer is to keep repeating the same thing even if you don't understand it. Nevertheless, she's a good teacher for the course and I would recommend her.
BEST TEACHER EVER. Her lectures are ok, but if you go to her office hours with questions, she is fantastic! She goes above and beyond to make everyone successful. She has pop quizzes, but they're not too bad--they make you study. She is an awesome teacher--take her!!!
This instructor can't lecture! I had her for ACC as well and that was ok b/c it was all skill-based. But for MGT, she neglects the textbook in favor of talking and 'discussion' (if you can call it that). Its quite awful if you actually want a formal education.
She is a very fast pace teacher. Go in to get help if you need it and you will get at least a C. She gives you her notes online and is very helpful outside of class. Take this teacher if you actually want to learn Accounting instead of going through the motions!
she is very rue and unprofessional. takes her stress out on the class, so if you enjoy listening to complaining for 15 mins of class then take her. otherwise i recommend someone else.
She does everything she can to help you but class is very fast paced. There are quizzes almost every day. She's a good teacher but she makes you work HARD
Excellent professor! She does require homework and has pop quizzes. Quizzes are predictable if you aren't an idiot. She wants everyone to succeed. You will learn the material and have a solid foundation if you go to class and do the requirements. Also helpful outside class. One thing that may be bad or good is she tries to know everyone personally
Linda is an great teacher! she truly wants her students to succeed and understand the concepts. It is a lot of work but worth it if you put in the effort.
Linda is a little crazy, but awesome. She really cares about her students and lays out all the material for you with in class notes and problems. Her tests are manageable if you put the time in to study. Not a blowoff class, but definitely worth the time and energy if you actually want to learn accounting.
In class problems that everyone must answer. Homework is handed a week early. Pop up quizzes are very similar to homework problems that are done in class. Exams are a a little difficult, but her practice exams are very helpful. She is a very sweet and blunt professor. Do the homework, go to class, REVIEW notes everyday!
really wants you to do good in the class, she gives you the info straight out what you need to be doing to do well in the class, so there is no suprises. keep up with the material, and ask her if you need help, she wants you to do well
Linda is a great teacher. She is clear in her expectations and what you should know. She explains things multiple times until you understand them. 4 tests, 8 quizzes (one dropped), 13 homework (super easy!) and a group project. She is also there if you need any extra help or just need someone to talk to. I highly recommend her!
She is AWESOME! she definetly makes you work for your grade, but she is always there to help you! She cares alot TAKE HER!
Nicest lady ever! she almost cares too much! she is really sweet. She makes you work for your grade but not even close to what other accounting teachers do! She cares that you do well in the class! She also has reviews to help study for the test which are long but helpful!
Do your daily work and you will get an A. If you don't do your daily work, or even study daily. good luck getting higher than a C.
Best prof I have ever had! She really cares about her students, and tries to help them however she can. As long as you "do the right things" you should be able to get at least a B, if not an A, in the class. I am taking her again for ACC 222
She had a tendency to be crass and insulting toward struggling students
She is really organized. Gives notes than works through problems in class. Makes doing the homework easier to understand. If you do practice exams and work through them you will do good. I highly recommend her!
Hands down best out of all the accounting teachers. This is a hard class, but Linda is very helpful to making it a bearable as possible!
Great Teacher!
Phenomenal Professor. Cares a lot about her students and puts a lot of time and effort into her class. Take her at all costs!
She is a very good teacher. She really cares about her students, and wants them to succeed. Not an easy class, but very manageable with her.
Very good professor. She really cares about her students. Difficult class, but she will help you through it.
Not a fan. She is very critical and does not explain things well. She is biased and shoves her opinions on you. Helpful but only if you talk to her outside of class. In class she won't answer your questions
She was very helpful if you struggled with understanding a concept. If you need help and go to her office you will grasp the concepts. The class is difficult, but compared to other teachers at UWL she is the easiest and best way to learn.
Linda cares a lot about her students and tries to help you through difficult stuff. The only downside to her is the exams are hard but she gives you practice exams that help a lot if you do them!To do well i would suggest studying those a lot!
Linda is tough but fair. You will definitely leave the class knowing the material, but it is by no means a class that you can get away with little effort. Go see her in her office often and make sure you understand the material -- practice exams are long but will help a TON!
Linda is not an easy teacher, but she is my favorite. Linda will do absolutely anything for you as long as you put in the effort. Homework is graded, but if you visit her office hours she will check your answers which is an easy 100% if you PUT IN THE WORK. Linda is really a fantastic teacher and a better person, TAKE HER and WORK.
Definitely don't recommend her. She really wants her students to do well but I went into exams thinking I knew all the material and she always throws curveball questions that she never covered in class both on homework and exams. She teaches straight out of the book and it's very difficult to get good grades on exams on hw because of the curveballs
Sherony is a wonderful person, but a terrible teacher. I didn't understand any of the material that we covered, and when I would go to office hours the line was out the door and she was helping more than one student at a time so she wasn't focused on helping you. Even with studying for hours the tests were brutal.
Linda means well, but she is not very clear at all. She really cares about us, but often gets confused when teaching. Most of us left class more confused than we came in. Sometimes she makes people feel dumb for even asking a question. She is nice though, if thats what you're looking for! She HATES when kids come late to class though.
Linda is not only an extremely nice lady but she really wants her students to do well and takes it personally when students are struggling. She doesn't go nearly as fast as other professors of this course. My advice - skim the chapter ahead of time so you know what she's talking about! And do the practice exams! An A is definitely possible!
Linda is the best! She expects a ton out of her students but is extremely helpful and cares about each student! Her practice exams are the best! They are so helpful. She is the best teacher in accounting
Linda really is nice but not as a professor. She's condescending to anyone who has a question. Her answer to everything is "It's in the notes. I specifically went over it." even though she didn't cover it well enough. Her exams are also not what you study for even if you studied from her notes.
Linda is one of the best accounting professors on campus. If you put in a decent effort and show her that you're willing to put in the work then she'll be more than helpful. Very approachable as many student show up to her office. Make sure you know how to do the practice exams as her exams are based off of these exams and you'll be fine.
Don't take her. She's hard as hell
Don't even think to take with her any class because she is hard and impossible to understand
I don't recommended this class to anyone. She can be nice but majority of the time condescending. She always says we can ask questions at anytime but when you do she just refers you back to your notes. She enjoys accounting much more so she kind of threw our econ class aside.
Linda is super sweet! Accounting is not an easy class, so be sure to go to class everyday AND DO your homework! There will be pop quizzes and you will go around class answering on hw problems. Linda is a great professor and super nice and always willing to help!
Super energetic and fun as well as being very helpful. Really cares for her students and wants them to get a good grade. Made a long group marketing mix seem pretty easy. Would recommend!
She really cares about her students. Tried to make a rather boring class fun & it worked!
Worst Teacher I have taken in the Business Program.. Think's she's the best around and doesn't make an effort to help student's outside office hours.. Which her room only has room for two people. She talks like she cares but really doesn't. Don't take her..
To give some context, I'm an acc. major and ended with an AB in this class. That being said, I had a lot of issues with Linda. No one finished her tests on time and if you ever express that concern she blames it on you not studying. Her lectures are so fast you can't keep up and she's so emotional she holds grudges against students. She's terrible
Tests are extremely long, and are not do able in the time allotted. She does a good job explaining things, but goes way to fast for you to comprehend what she is doing. You just copy her then have to go back and try and figure out what was going on.
Nice lady, but super, super condescending. She rushes through material and isn't all that helpful in office hours. Her tests are usually too long for the time allotted.
Linda comes off as nice initially, but it doesn't take long before you realize she is condescending and expects everyone to keep up with her lightspeed lectures. The class is hard, tests are even harder, and she is little help during class. Spends half the class lamenting about politics and then flies through the lecture. Take another prof.
1/3 of the discussion involved some deeply personal or political aspect of her life which then forced her to rush through the actual lecture. The tests were also extremely long and majority of the class went to the buzzer. It also seems that If you ask for help she will take it personally.
Linda is a very kind and understanding with matters that don't have to do with her course. She goes way too fast during lecture and gives very hard quizzes for each chapter on days you are unaware of so you always have to be prepared. Her exams make you go above and beyond what you do in class and are extremely long. I would take another prof.
Linda is an amazing professor, but this class is VERY DIFFICULT. She provides you with all the necessary materials and knowledge but this course requires a ton of outside work. If you're looking for an easy A, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I learned a lot from this course and from Linda.
Tests are too long, all quizzes are pop quizzes and far more difficult than the problems you do in class. Spends a lot of time talking about her personal life and then goes light-speed through the material. I also disliked how the homework wasn't more similar to what you would see on a test. Linda is a nice person, but not good at teaching.
I honestly loved having Linda as a professor. The class is pretty difficult and the tests are impossibly long but she definitely is sweet and cares about her students! She is a bit condescending but only if you don't put in the work! If you are bad at accounting I would not suggest. Also, READ YOUR TEXTBOOK. Its a Hard class but she is helpful!
Linda has an inflated view on how students think of her and what is best for her students. All year I haven't opened the book and have been doing well in the class, but with three weeks left she added reading quizzes before every class, forcing everyone to study the way she wants. Also, her exams are very tough, take another prof.
I had Linda for finance. She will preach for 30 minutes daily about how hard she works for her students/how much she cares. She wrote an exam that not one person can finish on time, and she blamed the class for not studying enough. She does a poor job of explaining material and does not seem to fully understand most of it herself.
Your grade is based on a lot of things, which is nice. She tends to rush through the material a lot but she explains things well. She provides practice exams and review problems on D2L to help with studying for exams. There are a lot of in-class activities and quizzes for every chapter. She's a decent professor but I would recommend someone else.
Extremely nice woman, great professor. Goes more than the extra mile with her students. And she won't let you forget it because she doesn't get payed as much because she doesn't have a doctorate. She has been doing this a long time. 10/10 would take again. Pay attention and learn, she has a lot of great tricks for the real world.
Linda is very sweet and you can tell she cares a lot about her students, but sometimes she talks a little bit too much about stuff not related to accounting. The majority of classes start out with a discussion of nothing related to accounting. Besides that, she is very helpful outside of class and grades things very quickly which is nice.
I was warned when I took this class, however Linda is a great professor who really cares about her students and want them to succeed. This class was a decent amount of work. I spent about 10 hours studying before each exam which ultimately made me more successful.
Linda is definitely on of the best professors I have had in college. She really cares about her students and will do her best to help you out. I definitely recommend going to her office hours from the beginning if you need help - this way she gets to know you. This class is not easy, but if you put in the effort its definitely manageable.
ACC222 is hard in general, but its even harder when its only 4 weeks long online. You go through one chapter a day and homework and quizzes due after every chapter. At the end of the week there is a two part exam which are very difficult. Linda is very helpful when you have questions but makes you work for your grade.
Just not a very qualified professor to teach Finance 355. She wasn't capable of explaining any concepts in class, just does calculations the entire time. Wastes time during class talking about things unrelated to Finance. I would 100% try and find another professor to take FIN 355 with.
She acts all sweet but will belittle you the moment you are wrong. Not very understanding and extremely condescending. I would not recommend her if you have little knowledge of accounting. She doesn't seem to care if you pass or fail. There are better options for accounting professors. Save yourself the stress.
She spends a lot of time telling life stories and less time on the material. She does examples in class, but they are nothing like the exam problems. She is an alright teacher if you already really know accounting, but she makes you feel dumb if you do not.
Took this course online over J-term. There were 3 exams and the first average was in the 40s, the second in the 50s, and the final in the 70s, all not curved. After the first exam, she told us that we were not working hard enough, only to realize by the end of class that maybe her exams weren't manageable. Too much for a 3 week online J-term course
Very hypocritical and wastes lectures talking about stuff that doesn't apply to the class. Gives pop quizzes and exams are nothing like homework or in class examples. Would not recommend.
Linda is a good professor who I enjoyed. Her tests are difficult if not prepared for well. Be sure to do all of the practice exams from each unit being tested on to do well. Also be sure to check Canvas every other day for online quizes.
take her only if you hate yourself and your gpa
I retained more information about her life than actual accounting material. Exams make you want to punch a baby. Highly recommend
Hardest class I have had in college. She talks about random stuff for the first 15-30 minutes of class and then speeds through the rest of the material. There are pop quizzes after every chapter and her exams are extremely difficult. Do not recommend her at all if you want a decent GPA
She has a huge ego and is hypocritical. She talks more about herself than accounting, so most of the chapters were self-taught for me. The majority of my studying during the semester was for this class. There's a pop quiz on each chapter and a ton of homework. I was most success during exams when I studied the practice exams.
She is not as bad as everyone makes her out to be. Her class is an average level of difficulty and work. People need to realize that it is a college class and is inherently more work than high school. She cares about her students more than any other professor I have had. 10/10 recommend her
Linda cares about you. Yes, she does talk about herself a lot. However, she brings energy to Accounting 222 that most professors can't touch. If you ACTUALLY study, you'll be fine in the class. Make a quizlet of the practice tests and you'll be fine. Also, do the homework right. Don't try to slide through it.
It took me awhile to write this, i took the class 2 semesters ago, but I am finally realizing how much of a help she is in ALL classes. She teaches you not only the material, but teaches the right ways to learn. She really cares about us. She writes her own notes and everything she teaches HAS A PURPOSE! If you ignore what she says- youll struggle
Linda is the best professor I have had at UWL. She is very motivating and is a very effective professor. She built the base of my accounting knowledge and I am very thankful for it. I wish I had her for every accounting course.
Sherony spends more time talking about herself than course content. She assigns a lot of homework. She is unclear with expectations and unorganized. The subject matter is easy. She never lectures in class, she expects you to teach yourself the material on your own. Class time is spent on activities and group discussions. Attendance is mandatory.
Linda is an amazing professor who cares about her students more than any other teacher at UWL. There is a lot of papers but it is a writing emphasis class, and most of them are 1 page long. No phones in class. If you use grammarly and put in some effort you will get a good grade. There aren't any quizzes, tests, or final exams. I recommend her!
She didn't seem to care if students were doing poorly. All her feedback was pretty much negative. Would not take her again because as a student who needs help outside of the powerpoints, I did not feel that she helped at all.
Ms. Sherony is really a good professor. She is very helpful and really cares for each and every student. She is very honest and will give you good feedback. She wont tell you what you want to hear what but what you need to hear. She is interesting and has great experience that relates to the real world.
She assigns all of these Aplia Assignments. It is all grammar that you learn when you are 7 and she exects you to know everything perfectly. These assignments give you examples and if you don't memorize them instantly then you get a bad grade and you are screwed.
I have never written a review about a professor but Professor Sherony has been such a nightmare to work with. We are halfway through the semester and she has yet to mention anything about what we are learning in the lecture. I participate at least 2 times per class period yet I keep getting Fs for my participation grade
Linda started out the year by saying that the semester starts out very busy, but then will become easier at the end of the year. However, the class load has remained the same throughout the semester. We do a lot of busy work for the class including grammar material that isn't necessary for the course. She is a difficult grader as well.
Recommend. Class is much better if you intend to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors, but it can still provide some insights even if you don't plan to. Not a difficult grader but expect to spend some time on assignments. Cares about her students a lot. Usually I prefer online classes, but this one seems like it's better in-person.
Whether it was a tangent about her personal life, or how we students as the younger generation needed to call and help get Trump out of office, Linda always seemed to be on us about something. In MKT 301 if you do not participate 3x a class you will receive horrible participation grades. On top of this, there is plenty of busywork that is useless
To be honest, there is a lot of busy work. You need to participate if you want to get an A. This is not a class you can just go through the motions and expect to get a good grade. However, it isn't challenging. Just a larger workload. Prof Sherony cares ALOT about her students and is there to help them succeed in work and life.
Way too much busy work for what the class is really about. She also springs writing assignments out of the blue and makes them due the same night. Participate in class. Doesnt reply to email quickly. Doesnt realize her class is not the only class you are taking.
Professor Sherony truly cares about all of her students. Her class overall however is a bore. There is so much busy work and if you miss more than 2 classes you get % taken off your final grade. She goes on long tangents about her life more than she teaches us. A nice lady and this class isn't hard you just a ton of busy work.
This is a participation class. Youll do just fine in this class with her.
Very kind and wants the best for all her students. Tough grader. get ready to do a lot of homework. You will become a better public speaker after this class.
Linda is one of the sweetest and most caring professors! She cares about her students success and learning the material. Participation is heavily weighted, but she makes class fun and enjoyable! Each day you walk in, she has the music blasting! Linda provides assignments to help prepare you for the real world. Highly recommend LINDA!
So many pointless reflection papers and assignments (not necessarily hard, just a lot of busy work) after learning nothing in lecture. She talks about herself A LOT, and acts all nice but is pretty condescending towards students. This class is pretty much ridiculous.
Linda is a little wacky and tends to tell a lot of stories during class. There is also quite a bit of homework and multiple speeches. With that being said, she means well and truly wants the best for her students. She makes an effort to get to know you, and her assignments are applicable to the real world.
This class is mandatory and I do not recommend taking it with Linda. From endless rants about her family and her personal stories. To her wasting our time tapping our faces (yes, I said that right) you will be bored constantly. Also, don't voice your opinion if it does not align with her. Do not take Linda.
At first, she was rude and wacky. But as the semester went on she got a lot better. This class is a lot of busywork, but it is front-loaded. She is very caring and she only wants the best for you.
Linda is one of the best and most caring professors at UW-L. Attendance and participation was required, but she makes it worthwhile to go to class. You will have to give three presentation throughout the class, but they are not difficult. You can tell she actually cares about her students and she give good life advice in the class.
Do you want to type 4 papers a week for a teacher who doesn't grade them for 3 weeks then this is the course for you. Not only does she assign "Reflection papers" almost every day you have chapter quizzes, grammar quizzes, and presentations on top of that. A month into this class I have done three times the homework than I have for any other class.
Absolutely terrible. She assigns 4 papers a week and doesn't grade them for months. She also talks more about herself than the class. Additionally, she will berate you if your public speaking skills are lacking. Do not recommend.
Some weeks had 4 papers due on top of quizzes. Would take months to get feedback on past papers. Pop quizzes are based on memory. Put do 3 presentations in front of the class, and no makeup. Once you do your presentation, you stand there while the class gives you feedback for participation points. Must participate to pass the class.
If you are able to take the MGT 301 class instead of this one, I highly recommend doing so. Professor Linda is not a good teacher. She is a nice lady who cares about you, but that doesn't make her a good teacher. Participation will kill you. Gives no help for final project which is 10 pages. Makes up stories every class period. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Linda is a good person outside of the classroom. In class, she tells pointless stories that are a pure waste of time. She takes months to grade everything and provides little to no feedback. I would not recommend her to anyone. My roommate took MGT 301 instead and he made it sound much better.
40 pages total are required for the class. She claims that she keeps a checklist of how many pages you write at the beginning of the year so you can see how close you are to being finished, but I definitely wrote over 40 pages throughout the semester. Awkward personal storytelling, weird teaching strategies, and lots of snarky unhelpful advice.
This class is all about being clear and concise, Linda is neither of those when it comes to the class. I would do assignments and she would tell me things that aren't on the guidelines. I didn't feel like she was there to help, it felt that she was only there to criticize. I would not take her again!
Professor Sherony presents herself as a kind-hearted professor who cares about the success of her students. This is degraded by her snarky and sarcastic comments, which are on display for every class period. Instead of providing helpful feedback, she will degrade your work and make you feel horrible for the effort you put in. Very fake individual.
Linda really wants the best for her students, however, she is one of those professors you are scared of because when she is mad, she is really mad. There seems to be a lot more work in mkt 301 than mgt 301, so only take her if you have to. She is not the worst because she does care but this class was really stressful.
Linda is a fantastic professor. The class is not hard at all as other ratings have said. It is hard to fail the class in my opinion. You just have to put in the effort, that is all you really have to do, to do well in the class! Very useful class and will help you in your career.
Gives a lot of work that is nothing like the test. Must be able to do the concepts before coming to class. She copies her answer sheet and when asking a question, she does not know how to do it.
Linda is truly a great woman. She grades harshly, but she only wants her students to succeed and become confident. The class is a lot of reflection papers, editing work, and three speeches. She gives very detailed feedback, and if you improve each presentation you will do fine.
Linda definitely cares about her students and wants them to succeed but she is very difficult. The hardest acc222 professor. Pop quizzes. Exams are too long to finish in designated time and extremely difficult with problems you do not even learn in class or on homework. i would recommend taking a different professor for acc222
She spends a lot of time talking about her "life lessons." This time would be better spent covering the kind of questions she asks on the exams. Group project is graded based off of a grammerly score. Very condescending and full of herself, do not recommend.
The information I learned was valuable however the way she teaches it is not. I was constantly lost as her in-class work was not the same as the test questions. The tests are so long that I ran out of time for most of the exams. Uses Grammarly to deduct your grade, very unaware that people can struggle in this class. Overall would not take again.
Homework and chapter concepts take up the entire time you could be using to understand what even happened in class. Pop quizzes every week. She grades group projects with Grammarly and it drops your grade by so much. If you have any free time prepare to not. Exams are nothing like the class problems!!!!
Linda is understanding but very tough. If you work hard you will pass the class, but the exams are the most challenging I have taken. I did dislike the very passive aggressive emails sent out towards the end of the semester, but other than that she was good. But prepare for a learning curve and a ton of work to put in.
She is "ok". She does care about student success. Just get ready to study and make sure you do the practice exams and read the chapter for each unit at least once. She grades the group projects grammar based on grammarly score, so be aware of that and find a friend who has grammarly premium. She does drop a quiz score and was very understanding
She is a very kind person and really cares about her students and their well-being. This class is hard, you have to put in a ton of work for sure. She gives more work than the other profs who teach this class. There are at least two papers per week and 4 presentations. Put in a lot of work and follow the rubrics and try to improve thought the class
She grades difficult and there is a lot of homework, but she also provides outline for all of her chapters which is awesome. She also gives practice tests which mirror the real one. Connect homework is unlimited attempts.
