I actually looked forward to her classes. She doesn't lecture a lot. We do assignments and projects in class with a small group. It is so much better than listening to hours of lecture. If you learn by doing instead of listening to lectures, this is the class for you. Register early-the class always closes due to overcrowding.

She made me like college. I looked through my schedule to see what other classes she teaches,so I can take them. She does her best to make sure everyone learns, If you fail her class, it means you did NO work at all. We all enjoyed this class.

I was falling behind and had to drop my other classes. Prof. Smolinski asked me to talk with her after class. She asked what she could do to help me pass. We came up with a schedule to hand in missing work. I finished the class.

This First Year class was mandatory and I felt not necessary. Maybe good for kids that just graduated HS, but not relevant to older adults who have been working and raising families for years. The Professor was good and made it fun.

This is a fun class.

We got to work together in groups, which made things interesting. She would often show a video clip to help us understand the reading passage. The only way to fail is to do absolutely no work.

I took one of her classes last semester. She was fabulous, so I registered for another class that she teaches. At the last minute, the college switched professors. i will now drop the course. How dare they switch professors after we pay!

She has the patience of a saint. A bunch of us complained about the students that spend the class texting or playing video games. They miss assignments. She constantly tells them to stop. I hope they fail! She told us that we all make our own choice whether to pass or fail. In all these years, I never realized that the students make that choice.

She is the only professor that treats us as individuals. Instead of wasting out time teaching what we already know, she uses a diagnostic tool and helps us where we need help. Everyone works on whatever they need.

At first I really did not want to take this class, but it was required. I am soooo happy that I had her for a professor. I learned so much and really enjoyed this class

If you follow direction and hand in your work on time, you will get an A. Assignments are easy and you will have a week to hand in a one page assignment. If you fail, it means that you deserved to fail.

Some assignments were grades by the dean so it dropped my grade, but most were graded by Professor Smolinski who grades very easily and is very helpful to anyone in the class. Definitely an easy A for student Seminar class.

You need to purchase a code to submit assignments through a system. prof Smolinski shows us how to do every assignment and lets us start it in class to make sure we understand it. Fun class, no stress, as long as you submit your assignments.

She was the first professor that I had in college. She made my college experience great. Very helpful and understanding.

In this class there is a lot of self reflection and discussion. It is impossible to fail unless you do not do any work.

She was great. She made sure that she helped us out so everyone would pass. The person that said that professor was awful was not ready for college and was not able to keep up do assignments(which were all listed with due dates in Canvas) The discussions we had in class were wonderful.

Everything is posted on the school website: assignments, due dates, instructions etc. This was great because I always forget what I am told in class.

Today is the last day of the semester. The professor goes out of her way to make sure everyone passes with a good mark. Most of the class is discussions. She gives us extra time if we ask, and allows us do overs. She lets us begin assignments and quizzes in class in case we have questions. You have to be an idiot to fail her class.

This class was difficult at first because I was not used to using a computer. The professor and other students helped me. Today is the last class and I am able to do everything. Great class and group work. We had choices of writing papers, powerpoint or presentations so everyone felt comfortable.

This semester we went remote. I was so scared. Professor Smolinski really helped us and made sure that we were able to submit assignments. She even called IT and Cengage for me. She really takes good care of her students. If you do not do the work, you will pass. You do not have to study anything, just read and reflect.

I went into this class expecting to be spoon fed. This professor taught us that we are responsible for our own education. I grew up in this class.

At first it was difficult to get used to the computers needed to submit work.I must have e mailed the professor 100 times a day. She always helped us. As the class went on, it became easy. the content was easy. great professor.

She makes sure that we all do well. She reminds of about assignments that are due. If you ask for an extension she will grant it.

The class was different, we didnt have lectures, we discussed things in small groups. We learned about responsibility, time management and other soft skills that we will use for the rest of our life..

We did projects about careers, service learning and learned how to pick classes for registration. There were no lectures, just activities and discussions.

She was very helpful, especially during the time when we went remote.

I was working in a hospital during the Covid 19 pandemic. Many of my assignments were submitted late. This was totally accepted by Dr. Smolinski. She said that she understood and has great respect for essential workers. She gave me all of the time that I needed.

I took a stsc class. I was in contact with someone who tested positive with covid. Even though I stayed home with nothing to do, I could not focus on my schoolwork. I was so scared. I was also worried about my mother who has other illnesses. This teacher was very understanding and allowed me to submit work when I got my head back together.

I took Student Success on-line. We were given the work for the class on day 1. After that, we could work as quickly as we wanted, but had to submit all assignments. There was something due every week, but one rainy day, I submitted more than half of the assignments. Distance Learning classes are awesome! professor was always helpful .

Only a total idiot could fail this class.

Professor Smolinski has to be one of my favorite professors and STSC had to be one of my favorite classes so far. She gives you an opportunity to be yourself and the assignments and discussions are actually fun! She also gives great feedback and grades promptly.

Professor Smolinski is good. If you have an emergency, she will give you extra time, but don't go to her the last few days of the semester and ask to make up all semester's work. She expects you to keep up with the work. She gives fun extra credit!

This was a 5 week class to help us transition into college. I think it helped us to transition into adult life. We were expected to submit assignments on time and not to blame others. We learned to take responsibility for ourselves.

Online classes were new to me. Professor Smolinski grades papers as soon as she gets them. If you submit early, and made a big mistake or had a tech issue, she lets you know so you can resubmit. She often wrote ,"Submit early, stuff happens." This in itself was an important lesson.

Learning is a two way street. professor Smolinski will not spoon feed you, but she will help you.

She is great! We attended all classes and submitted all of the work. Some students came into class the last two weeks asking if they could make up 4 months of work. She told them no. We had to work and so did they. Some had such lame excuses.

I love that she treats us like adults and not little children. When I look at the course goals, I can proudly say that I have learned responsibilities in this class. The students are expected to read and be prepared.

This was a remote class. My favorite part was a bunch of us and the professor would log in 30 minutes early and stay late to ask questions and chat .

She has helped me to become a better person and a better student. We learned responsibility, accountability and time management. This course was easy but so important. I enjoyed her classes and discussions. No tests!!!!!! The directions in Canvas were precise. She told us which assignments took more time so we could begin them early.

If you submit your work prior to the due date, she offers feedback and allows you to resubmit. There is no reason not to get an A. If you are going to submit late, let her know before she grades you, and she will give you extra time.

She is more than fair. There are several assignments, but they only take 10-20 minutes each. She explains that with so many assignments, if you bomb a few, it will not effect your final grade much at all. There is at least a week to do each assignment, but if you do not submit in a weeks time, and don't let her know in advance, you will get a 0.

Online courses have weekly due dates. I did not know that I thought we could do work whenever we wanted. professor used rubrics to grade.

This class was easy to begin with since it is a student seminar, but she makes it bearable so it isn't boring. She is a great professor and responds quickly. The class is all discussions and assignments, no papers or tests! Easiest A ever.

This is the second class I had with this teacher and I will register to have her again. As long as you read directions and follow the rubrics, you will get an A.

If you read her e mails and announcements, she gives tips on how to improve grades and extra credit!! I really think that I have learned to be responsible for my own learning rather than blaming others for my failures.

This was an online class. Although I never met or spoke with the professor, I like her. Her discussion logs and feedback made me feel as if I know her.

I liked that every assignment had a rubric. This basically let us choose our own grade. The expectations were clear. To encourage us to read announcements, she would post easy extra credit assignments. You only saw these posts if you read the announcements.

I took face to face classes, a remote class and an online class f rom this professor. They were all excellent. I really enjoyed the face to face because I got to see great personality.

The best thing about Professor Smolinski is that she anticipates where and when will will make mistakes on assignments. She posts helpful hints and tips to make sure we do well before we make those mistakes. That shows me that she cares about the students.

She weighs each assignment differently, so we know which ones to work on. If you use the rubrics, you can easily get an A since you know how everything will be graded. I found out that every section uses the same assignments, weights and rubrics. The professors do not have much wiggle room, but Prof Smolinski did give us tips, and extra credit.

At first I was so mad at her for taking points off of my hard work. I never thought about how disrespectful is was to hand in assignments late. I also allowed my group to do the entire assignment before I joined them late.I now learned not to think it is ok to hand in work whenever I felt like it.

Cite every discussion and paper. If your use the lecture as a source, cite the textbook since it all comes from the textbook and not her. Not super tech savvy, she had said multiple times that were submitting through email, but we did not. We submitted with the submit button through canvas. Class is super easy though

This class was easy, yet I failed. There are no tests, but a lot of planning for life. I did not put in the time and energy and before I knew it, I was failing. Just because it is easy does not mean we don't have to do the work.

This instructor makes expectations and policies very clear. If you do something stupid like plagiarize or cheat you will get a 0 and be reported. The work is easy so there is no reason to cheat.

We have one or two assignments per week, so if you mess up on a couple, it really doesn't hurt your grade too much. She has rubrics for every assignment, so you know your score before she grades it. You know exactly what to do for an A. No surprises.

I took this class twice as I failed the first time. I realized that every stsc professor has the same syllabus, assignments and due dates. I guess it is a department thing. Anyway, Prof.Smlski is the only one that offers extra credit and simplifies directions in the announcements. She also scores using the rubric so their is no room for favoritsm.

Professor must have been a terror as a child. She knows every trick going, from cheating, she checks up on excuses and even notices if you always respond to the same person in discussion forum. The work is easy, so just do it or she will catch you.

Online,so you need to read text and lecture. Tip...read announcements. They simplify the topic and directions for activity. They also contain extra credit. I received 25 extra credits.

My friend took this course with a different professor. It was the exact same. The modules,activities,rubrics and due dates are exact. Only difference was Prof smolinski helps us with her announcements. They clarify directions and have extra credits.

As an older student, I appreciate that Prof Smolski treats us like adults and doesn't gear the class to immature kids. We are expected to think, problem solve and independence. Bravo!

No one holds your hand or does the work for you Big change from high school. Once I read the mods, I saw how simple this class is.

If you do not get an A it is your own fault. This class plans for your future. No studying and no tests. There are discussions that are graded.

Class is easy. Trying to figure out Canvas was hard. Professor told me to watch tutorials. Then it was so simple All expectations and policies and who to contact for help is in syllabus. I thought Professor was ignoring me until I read the syllabus and announcements and found out the only way to contact her was through inbox. She always responded.

What you put into this class is what you get out of it. I really read the book and lectures. On the discussion boards, it was clear that some students did not have a clue and tried to get away with writing stupid answers.. I found the class helpful and I improved as a student. It prepared me for college.

Awesome class and professor. It is online so make sure you know Canvas. We had 1 week for every activity so if it is not submitted on time you get 0. Activities only take 15 to 20 minutes.

I would get a kick out of her announcements. I guess some students expected her to solve computer issues, give answers for tests in other classes and do the work for them. It was also obvious that students did not read the book and expected her to give answers. I know it is a beginner course, but I was embarrassed having low level classmates.

This professor makes it almost impossible to fail. You really need to try hard to fail. Many friends took the same course with different professors and they did not have the opportunity for extra credit. All sections are exactly the same, but this professor gives extra help.

Professor does everything she can to make us pass. Some students do not do their work and expect to pass. This is a good and useful.course.

I cried when I received a message from Dr Smolinski telling me that she was proud of me and my work. No one ever told me that.

Lots of extra credit. Work is easy, but she tries to teach us responsibility, so you need to read directions and hand in stuff on time.

She is more than fair. There is opportunities for extra credit, so if you miss an assignment, you can still do well. She stresses responsibility and time management

This was my first college class I hope that all of my teachers will be like her.

Awesome professor.

Looking at a low rating who claimed attendance was not required and there was no textbook. We had to participate three days every week and the readings from the textbook were required to complete assignments. Maybe that person failed because they did not do their work

Coursework iss very easy. We have 7 days for every short assignment,but late work is not accepted.Follow the policy in the syllabus and it is a sure A.

Easy grader, but if you do the work late,you get a 0. Assignments only take 10 to 15 .minutes. readings are very easy.

Always cite the textbook. She is a stickler when itcomes to plagiarism. The course teaches us how to cite. I got 75 extra credits. Course is impossible to fail if you do your work. Good professor

Read the announcements for extra credit. I got extra credits for reading the syllabus, announcements, texts etc. It's easy to earn them. Just answer simple questions like what is your favorite candy. These questions are in the announcements.

Class is alot of reflection and planning your life so you don't need to study. Read the textbook passages and cite it and you will get a A. Reading and writing took me 30.mimutes a week.

Professor Smolinski is the only Professor that uses rubrics for every assignment and responds to you within 24 hours.
