i enjoyed the half of the semester that she taught more, but it was partially due to my higher interest in her material..overall a good teacher

She is way more interesting than Ms.Thomas. Also, I found her to be more helpful also. She will do practice tests with you in her office if you go to see her for help. Cool lady.

Easy tests. Just read and re-read the pp notes. Attend her classes, and you'll get a B or A. I give her a B overall.

She is really energetic about her class and for the most part, easily approachable.

I love Dr. Walters sooooo much more than Thomas! Not only is she easier to understand, she explains things much more in depth and how it relates to us in PRACTICAL ways! Love her!!

Good teacher, but a pretty difficult class; you need to study if you want a good grade. Regardless, she really brings your grade up after half a semester with Thomas! Although she might have a slight obsession with her son...???

I really like her. She explains things clearer then Mrs. Thomas. She's funny and she can scream. :) Her tests are much easier then Thomas' and she doesn't give new info at the "review" sessions.

Great teacher, hard class. She is very helpful and clear, she explains things really well and is very nice. If you are interested in marine life, take her, that is her specialty. If you have to take biology def. take it with HER!

She's very forward and clear with the material and makes it easy to understand. She tells you exactly what is going to be on the test, no tricks!! Go to class and do the practice tests and you'll do fine, at least in the second half :)

If you get her for the second half it will deffinetly help your grade. i was used to getting D's with thomas and when Walters took over i started getting A's. I never didn't anything different with either professor.

Love her! ... kinda crazy, but passionate. I prefer over Thomas

Okay as a teacher, quite a character. She helps you out if you have a problem or question. Makes weird comments and jokes that aren't even funny... A very hard class, but she helps you pull it off.

Shes so much easier to understand than Thomas. She goes at a slower, easier to understand, pace. And her information is more interesting as it is. Shes really nice and funny. A good teacher. I recommend this class, so long as you can stand Thomas first. P.S. she says "ok" a lot though! Really nice:)

she's AMAZING. i had thomas the first half.. i always got Ds and Fs on the test and with her I got As. she really knows her stuff and doesnt find pleasure in tricking the students on tests. i wish she taught more science classes....

This teacher is such a sweetheart! She makes you luagh on the days you do attend class! The only probably is that sometimes she can get a bit loud...Tests are alot easier once she takes over the class and when she explains the material its a lot easier to understand than when ms. thomas does!

I had her for the second half of BSC2010... She's a nice lady, with an annoying voice. Doesn't appear to be as intelligent as Professor Thomas, but I guess that's why the *ahem* slower people give her preference.

Walters is an amazing and kind person. Her kindness and help extend beyond the classroom. She is very intereting and her tests are not too bad. Her power points are very thorough and she makes bio interesting. She wants to see students do well and succeed. Her love for her son is darling too!

wow...i luv this lady...she's awesome...i had the second half of the semester, and what thomas destroyed she brought up. She teaches really well and makes sure we understand the material. She doesnt get any sorta twisted pleasure outta tricking her students with her tests. Great Teacher!

I loved Dr. Walters. She was my favorite teacher at UCF. Actually cares about her students and about teaching not just about her research. Went way above and beyond to give us an excellent education. Thank You! I miss you! Very magical too.. hee hee...!

Very engaging and cares about students' interest in the field. Views her students as human beings, not an unsavory part of her job. More interesting subject matter than Thomas, but isn't tolerant of immaturity-- not in the least bit soft spoken. Very helpful, wants you to succeed.

Walters was a much better professor than Thomas, she had such a positive regard for her students and she went step by step with the material, unlike Thomas who breezed through everything.

very good teacher! much more effective than prof. thomas. definitely goes above and beyond. requires studying and reading before class, GO TO SI AND SARC, it helps out a lot plus you get extra credit. seems to want students to do good, go to office hours and ASK QUESTIONS IN CLASS!!!

Explains everything that you need to know for tests. Not too many notes needed to add to her powerpoint. All around good, just don't talk loudly, she ****es about that a lot...understandably.

She was a good teacher, smart and doesnt put to you sleep like thomas. Her first test I thought was the easiest al lyear but her last one seemed to be the hardest. She'll crack a joke once inawhile and try to keep you interested. Oppurtunity for extra credit with SARC and bonus quizzes. Unless you hate bio, this class should be no prob.

Her tests are pretty easy, just review the powerpoints. She will say that you need to read the book but that is totally not true. Go to the si/sarc!!

Tests are straight from powerpoints, gives a review powerpoint so you know what to focus on. Her material is easier than Thomas. Go to SI/SARC, I think everyone here has said it because IT DOES HELP! If you want an A, you'll need to study. 2 tests come from her, and final is cummulative. 2 lab reports all together which are fairly easy. lots of e.c

I would have had an A in the class if she taught all semester. Her notes and lectures are much more thorough than other professor. She is great at her job of delivering the material.

Mrs. Walters was a nice, straight-forward teacher. Her tests are easier than Thomas' and there are less curveballs and trick questions. They are both good teachers--it is an easy class.

She was a better teacher than Thomas, but she didn't seem as willing to help you if you had problems with the material.

Easiet teacher ever. Test questions come right off the notes. Don't even open the book! Reviews are worthless unless you are completely lost. They're online, too. It was a relief to get her after Thomas taught. That part was harder. But word of advice: don't even buy the book.. It's pointless. Great class overall.

Much easier than Thomas; because of Walters I got a better grade in the class. Go to class and look over powerpoints, reading the book is helpful but not essential. Nice and wants to help; really wants students to learn. Just don't talk while she's trying to teach, cause then she's not so nice and helpful. Use SARC and SI too, they will help.

Walters is a really great teacher. She was easy but I actually learned a lot too. She is very clear in her teaching. I found her to be easier than Thomas. Powerpoint notes are the best way to do well. I never really read. Overall good professor.

She was also a great teacher. Read her Powerpoint before tests and know them well and you will do fine. She moves a lot quicker than Mrs. Thomas, so you have to keep up in class. The info she teaches is also easier than Thomas's and there is less info, so that might be why people think she is easier. I prefer Thomas, but they are both wonderful.

I felt it was easier to see what was expected from her as opposed to Ms. Thomas. She would emphasize a little more on what you needed to know for exams. I preferred her to Professor Thomas, but that's just a preference thing. Many students preferred Ms. Thomas.

Her notes are really clear and she repeats everything 3 times just to make sure you get it. I liked her way better than Thomas. Her tests are really easy too which can really boost your grade.

I found this class pretty boring. you dont really have to go to class, i just went to the SI's for it and i did well. Also make sure that you go to the 15 SI sessions to get the extra credit because it helps out a lot.

Dr. Walters was very straightforward and lets you know at the beginning what she expects of you. She loves marine biology and it shows by happy she is talking and teaching about it. Very easy class, doesn't want to trick you, just to teach the basics. That being said, if she doesn't like you (my case), it makes for a very awkward, terrible semester

She's a lot easier to understand in lectures than Professor Thomas, and her test is easier than Professor Thomas' but she does expect you to pay attention in her lectures. She gets upset if you leave in the middle of her lectures. Overall, she seems nice, I never had to talk to her so I don't know for sure. But she's a very good lecturer!

Didn't use my book. Focused on ppts and figures given. Walter and Thomas give 5pts EC each and then SI adds 10. I suggest to go to SI cuz it rounds out the notes. Walters is very nice & willing to help. Boisterous and loves her job(s). Her time went by very quickly. She orates well and will tell talkers to shut up. Recommended.

she was a great teacher she really made things clear and easy to understand. very easy to get a A in the class. there are tons of extra credit and make all your effort to attend the SI sessions those are the key.

i would reccommend this class. even if you dont do that great on the tests, there is 20 points of extra credit! video, and random attendence checks and attending SI. going to SI is beneficial too, helped me get a much better understanding of concepts in lec. tests are a little tricky but just study! very hard to get worse than a B in this class!

soooooo easy, missed class atleast once a week, studied a day before the tests and still got an A, the extra cred only boosted my A even more.

Prof. Walters & Prof. Thomas are probably the best professors at UCF. They both lecture very well, both are sweet & intelligent. They make excellent power points, which is pretty much what their exams are on. They drop the lowest exam and give youtube video extra credit opportunities. Walter's test are bait easier than Thomas's. Love them!

Prof. Walters is incredibly easy. Her tests were a dumbed down version of Prof. Thomas'. She is very nice and gives a good amount of extra credit. Prof. Walters makes what is due and when very clear. Just don't try and talk in her class because she will continuously call you on it. Overall, you should definitely take this teacher!

She is pretty easy, just reads slides. go to class just to review and get extra credit.. says the world alright like a million times and will shush people but super easy. tests are off ppts and i never have used the book.An A is doable with all the millions of extra credit and lab grade added in.

Her tests are pretty hard but not impossible to pass if you put in the time. go to SI everyday. gives extra credit. she reviews all the info but uses application based questions on tests. there are other easier teachers for bio at ucf. but i would recommend her too.

Good professor. Explains things clearly. Tests are very reasonable, easier than Professor Thomas'. Tests are on powerpoints so you don't NEED to go to class but go for extra credit. Lots of EC. If you put in a little work, an A is not hard at all.

Good and interesting teacher. Makes sense and explains well. Tests are tricky. You'll miss a few ?s if you don't go to class but tests are off of the PowerPoints. Don't slack off and you'll get an A. I got straight Cs on all the tests but the final was easy. Lots of EC if you go to class or submit a video. Overall, she's a good teacher.

Best professor in the Biology department in my opinion. Taking marine biology was an amazing experience. Most of the grades come from a REAL research project you work on with a group, and there is no textbook. There are fun reading books assigned which she gives quizzes on. You also go to SURE and Service Learning Showcase. Our class won prizes!!

She's an amazing professor & would take her again. You read 4 novels, lead discussion on current event article, submit a photo collection of your own organisms & participate in a group research project you design. Experiencing a real research vessel was the best part of the lab! Pop quizzes on reading. Lots of work & points available, but easy A.

The service learning component is huge in this class!! I love SL and am getting a certificate in it, which is why I took this class. Book is required, but are 2 easy reads that I would probs read in my free time anyways. She absolutely loves marine bio and will inspire you. Easy class, just show up and do the SL stuff.

Walters is very knowledgeable but, she is not the best teacher. I felt like the entire class was just her forcing me to perform free labor for her research on oysters. I wanted to learn about marine biology when I came to class, not want to perform service learning. However, her exams are very easy. She is also very passive aggressive which sucks.

I love Walters. She does not teach marine biology in the traditional way and is service-learning based!! I loved the way she teaches, others don't. Expect to put work into the service project, but not an unreasonable amount. She offers up 40 points extra credit. Show up to class and you will receive an A with no problem.

By far my favorite professor I have taken at UCF. She truly cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed. The class allows you to gain new experiences and skills. The labs are super fun. The class does not require a ton of effort and lots of extra credit is available. You get to present at the SURE showcase. Overall a must take class.

Advanced marine bio is the best class I've ever taken. Definitely recommend- Dr. Walters pushes you to be the best scientist you can be. She can be very rude sometimes and difficult to work with, but that's part of the job. You'll get an A if you actually try a fair amount.

Advanced Marine Bio was a great class and really prepares you to be a scientist. What you put into the class is what you get out of it, and our class came out with so many presentations, awards, and opportunities. You really have to be a team player because 90% of your time will be spent working with others. Dr. Walters pushes everyone to be better

If you want a career in environmental/marine science, take this class. It will be a lot of work, you will spend a lot of your Saturdays waking up early, but you will get so much out of it. Dr. Walters is demanding but if you work hard you she will absolutely recognize the effort you put in. Very hands on with LOTS of extra credit opportunities.
