I had Professor yakle for both Hum 1 and hum 2. She is a great teacher and she has an incredible passion for this stuff. She is very knowledgable. The class has 3-4 tests (one dropped) the final is not cumulative. There are quizzes and study questions too
Great teacher. Very Helpful. I would recommend her to anyone.
Professor Yakle is a wonderful person, who is truly passionate about her work and her students. She is clear regarding expectations, and extremely willing to help her students to succeed. I would recommend her classes to anyone!
this teacher is so funny , she is great always happy. makes the class alive !!!!!!!! her class is a little bit hard but she proves that college is not high school !
Best professor I've ever had Very knowledgable, helpful, fair and fun.
awesome professor. funny, fair, interesting.
Funny and knowledgeable. Her course is not exactly easy, but it's not difficult if you keep up with the assignments. You will finish the course with a better knowledge of humanities.
Very unique professor, intense class, but she is more that willing to spend all the time you need for help. Great teacher, but hard to keep up with all the assignmenyts sometimes.
Keeps the course interesting. Breaks up the writing assignments so the Gorden Rule isn't so bad. Is very flexible with assignments. Recommneded if you don't like to write.
Very nice and funny teacher. She gives a fair/somewhat large amount of homework. Nothing you can't handle, however. If you really need help she will make time for you in her schedule. Shows videos and hten relates them to course content. Not a boring clas
Half way though the class, it may feel as though the class is difficult, but stick with it! Even if you aren't the best student grade wise, put forth the effort and show her that you care, the grade is in the bag. All of the comments above are accurate.
Great person...Too Liberal for my taste but will not shove it in your face. Loved the class so much I kept the book! Over the summer I made her a Venus of Willendorf (The perfect woman) You will see ;) So much info. So little time. How does she do it!
She's a really laid back type of teacher. Some of her test are pretty hard. Just stick with it and study you'll be surprised with your accomplishments. You'll really enjoy going to class, that's definitely a first.
hehe Yakle if you read this here's your chili pepper for the coolest ZAFTIG lady I know :-)
If your semester with her begins fairly easy don't be fooled... her tests are killer! Pretty cool lady though.
It was my first semester. If all the teachers are like her getting my AA will be a walk in the park. The problem is...I don't think they are all like her. One of a kind! I am gonna try and take another class with her if its possible!
She is a very enthusiastic teacher and does not bore poeple during class lectures. Well lined out class and follows syllabus very closely. Also she understands that most of us work and take other classes, most teachers don't really care. This class prepared me for Comp Two.
Great teacher. The class is hard and so are the tests but it is worth it to have such a great teacher.
Great Professor. She's hilarious. Makes afternoon class like afternoon sitcoms. She knows her stuff, and give plenty of details. She's got plenty of personal experiances/tales to tell about. Easy to understand her. Replies all emails quick. Highly recommended. Trust me, shes great.
Not eassy, but good teacher.A lot of study for a test, but she noes what she does.
Not easy, but good teacher. After her class you will know a lot. Her tests are hard, and you have to be prepared.
Wonderful teacher! I learned a lot. She is challenging but fully rewarding.
Worst teacher I've ever had. She talks too much, isn't consistent with the syllabus, and the assignments are retarded. The only good thing about her is she doesn't take attendance (thank God!). The class is easy overall, but prepare yourself to read because she doesn't give notes. I suggest taking Hunter for this class.
Funny, awesome teacher - tough tests - lots of little random assignments throughout semester - despite being disorganized, her level of teaching is "collegiate" - fair, entertaining, and really kind.
Awesome teacher... very funny, and easy to pay attention. Loves student participation... and loves to talk on a personal level too!
Awesome teacher. She is by far my favorite teacher at SPC. Take her class, it isn't hard because she makes it interesting.
The best teacher I've ever had. I highly suggest taking her blended classes. All your quizes and tests are online at home and you can use your book, notes, and she also gives you powerpoints. Gives you almost a week to complete your assigments. A good bit of work, but very easy to make an A in if you go to class and do your work.
Yakle seems hard on the surface and is a strict composition teacher but she will help you succeed if you show interest and talk to her in office hours. I would have to say she is one of the greatest professors at SPC.
Great professor overall. I love that her lectures and lessonplans vary from class to class so much that you don't know what to expect. Great sense of humor. Likes to laugh. Coursework can be difficult, but very doable as long as you keep up with the reading.
she is an awesome teacher. i took her for hum 1 and 2. i dont know if she still does this because spc now has angle, but when i took her class she put all the info on a cd and gave it to the class at the beginning of the semester. it had all the notes and lesson plans, slide shows, etc. she does talk fast and good note taking is required.
Kept lectures very interesting which had to be creative on her part. Gave a CD which helped tremendously with content. Lots of chances for xtra credit which came in handy to make up for those memorization tests. Exempted final with an A for the class. Record lectures & fine tune notes for study! Created an interest in subject not there before!!
Professor Yakle is a wonderful teacher. I passed the class with an A but had to work very hard to do so. She gives extra credit assignments with each test which helps out. Also grades on a curve. She makes the class very interesting and have been to most places she teaches about. I would highly recommend taking her!
I would tell anyone who was in an honors class in highschool and did good to take I.D.S. Yakle is a great english teacher and very helpful if you go into her class pray that you get her as your small group instructor because she is the easiest grader on essays.
She is an awesome lady!!!!
Best professor yet! She is passionate, energetic, and very easy to talk to. The class is SO much fun and she keeps it very interesting. Be sure to take good notes!!
Good teacher but you NEED to take notes. She likes to ask random strange questions on the quiz just to make sure you have taken notes. Other than notes she didn't require much writing
This class truly felt like a college class. She encouraged a free flow of thoughts and alternate interpritations of our readings. She is a tough grader on the papers but is there to offer ideas and resorces to help. Class is not very structured nor is she organized but it wouldn't be the same if she were. I would take her again for any subject!
Prof. Yakle is such a terrific professor and teacher. Yes, she is a hard grader when it comes to papers, but you will learn a lot from that. She is very passionate and funny.
She looks like Dallas Cowboy coach Wade Phillips.
Prof. Yakle is an excellent professor. You will never be bored with one of her lectures. Full of energy and funny! Been all over the place and has stories to tell. Really cares about the students. Best class I've ever had! Looking forward to World Cinema with her in the spring.
The BEST teacher ever!! I absolutely loved her! She kept the class interesting and really cared about the students and wanted them to learn. As long as you participate in class she knows your name. I find it amazing that she can remember all the students name. I HIGHLY recommend her!

Great teacher. Humanities is not my favorite subject, but she made it fun. Would take her again. Come to class, do your work and you should not have any problems.
She constantly helps you through the course with anything you need and she is incredibly caring. She makes the class lectures pretty interesting.
Linda is hilarious, passionate, and a fun teacher to have. Her tests seemed a little difficult at times and she can be a hard grader, but she is really just looking for you to reach your full potential. I learned a lot throughout my IDS courses and World Cinema (which was a blast but pretty work intensive).
Wish more professors were like her. defiantly one of the best professors I have personally had. Highly recommended.
Teacher was very entertaining and kept the class interested during lectures
RESPECT HOMIE.
Funny teacher! You definately learn alot and have to work for an A. Lots of work compared to other comp teachers
Prof. Yakle is passionate about her subject but I lost interest in the class really quickly. The films shown in class were a good mix but the lectures were very tedious to get through. The online chapter quizzes are NOT easy and sometimes confusing.
Class s superhard online...I read the chapters take powerpoint notes still can barely pass the quizes they are supper hard!!! would not recommend for online
She likes the sound of her own voice which can be troublesome if you happen to have an opinion you'd like to share. Otherwise, she's an okay lady and her film class was easy.
I took this class because I needed electives and believed the subject matter would be interesting. Much to my dismay the professor is a complete ****. Not recommended unless you consider brown-nosing an Olympic sport and you'd get the gold.
Mrs. Yakle is very sweet and helpful. She reviews your essays before they are do, to help you. She even let me rewrite an essay to raise my grade. She meets with you with an appointment beforehand. She really cares if you succeed and do well.
I took her intro to contemporary foreign film course, I would not take her again. If you are a film major, you might enjoy this class. If you casually enjoy foreign films DO NOT TAKE!
I love Ms. Yakle! This was my second time with her. She knows her stuff and she loves teaching it. World Cinema included an in-class film, online assignments, and forum discussions. Her expectations are clear. She really cares about her students. I would recommend her for any class!

she was so awsome - she was hard on some people - but if you know how to be cool - shes cool too - she loves it when you kiss as - or flirt. she loves funny people and irony - find the words she loves and use them alot - like catharsis - zaftig and huburis - and u will be good - LOVE HER
i like yakle as a person but not as a teacher, be aware, she does not use the boar to write a single thing, she lectures the whole class and you have to take lots and lots of notes. also u have to log in to angel everyday to see whats going on in class, like test, she wont tell you in class you have to log in angel to find out. the class is horribl
Yakle is a great teacher and a great person. She is funny in class, and keeps such a dull subject interesting. Pay attention and DO THE READING. She likes to pull a question from the humaities text every so often. Just don't be disrespectful and stay on her good side and you should be fine
Many here have complained about Prof Yakle's expectations of the students. Isn't it a shame that she burdens the students with the teaching level one would expect to see at a prominent state university (that is called IRONY)? SHE IS AN OUTSTANDING INSTRUCTOR. Well worth the time and effort a student will need to invest. I highly recommend her!
Shes funny and seems to know alot of what shes talking about. The workload isn't too terrible and there are plenty of chances for extra credit and she also lets you drop your lowest exam and quizzes. I actually liked this class and would take a class with her again.
Prof Yakle was a good teacher. She quizzed and tested hard but if you keep your attendance up, you will be rewarded. She is compassionate if you need more help or are confused. She's loud but it kept me awake during the 2 hr class. lots of work but she is flexible with students' needs. Would definitely take her again.
She is awesome. She makes the material clear, and answers any questions you may have. Loves to subject and makes class fun to attend. If you read , do the study questions and pay attention in class, you will do great. LOVE THIS CLASS AND TEACHER!
Professor Yalke ENC class I took online comp I with her. She's very helpful, gives you extra time if necessary. No final or midterm exams. Easy A+ if you do all work on time and do quality work. She responds to your e-mails quickly. I recommend her.
IDS which is supposed to be a combo of (in this case) HUM, COMP and SPEECH or LIT is just a giant HUM course and not useful for much else. Also, I was promised a B in the class with my percentage at 79.6% and when grades were posted I recieved a C. Expects a lot out of students but does not reciprocate.
TOOK INTERNET CLASS DURING SUMMER 10 WEEKS OF LOSING MY SUNDAY NIGHTS FROM 6PM TO 12PM DEADLINE, DICUSSION ?'S & TESTS, U START & FINISH THE WHOLE BOOK LEAVES U COMMENTS ON EVERYTHING AND TELLS U HOW SHE FEELS I WOULD DO IT AGAIN!
I ABSOLUTELY loved her lectures in IDS. In one class period she spent over an hour talking about her pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostalla. I definitely was not looking forward to IDS, but Yakle made it fun and interesting. she has always been really good about answering emails and entering grades. over all she made IDS an interesting experience
Ms. Yakle is no push-over. One classmate described her tests as "intense". But her enthusiasm for the subject was infectious and made the class (Western Humanities 1) very interesting. I still have an enhanced worldview requirement and hope to take it from her.
I took Honors Comp I online. Ms Yakle was an amazing teacher! She made assignments interesting. For example, one essay was a compare-contrast of two movies of choice. She almost always emailed back within a couple of hours and was always very helpful. I recommend taking her class! You won't be disappointed!
Yakle is great. She really brings her students into the subjects. She gives great feedback and really wants her students to do well. I highly recommend taking her!
This teacher is very demanding. Her western hum class requires reading 2 books, writing detailed papers weekly and 3 field trips. Only take if you don't have anything else going on that requires your time. Her lectures are ok but overall the class requires way more time than I could dedicate.
She really knows her stuff! You have to read a couple of books and take quizzes on them, and you have to do a cultural event of some kind, of which there is a long list. Tests are difficult, but in the blended class, two are open book and online. She cares a great deal for her students and gives many chances to get an A. Good efforts get an A.
I dont understand all of the good ratings she's getting because she is a super hard teacher. Her teaching style is all over the place. She doesn't stay on tasks and always ends up changing the main subject and starts talking about something else. I was really confused throughout this whole course because she is very unorganized and scatter-brained.
I loved this class!Pro Yakle was fun and always had interesting lectures. If you're looking to skate then she isn't the teacher for you.If you are a serious student who wants a quality education then take her class for sure! She changed my college experience for the better and set the bar for teachers to come.
She is a very energetic and fun professor. She is very willing to help the students and seems to love her work. She is not easy but as long as you study, pay attention in class and do the homework, she is not too hard. She can get a bit disorganized sometimes. But overall, I absolutely recommend her and her IDS I & II classes!
She's a good teacher and nice person. She takes forever to grade anything. She is very approachable but is always busy. You don't find out you have a bad grade in the class until it's too late to change it. The class covers a lot of material so it's hard to study for test sometimes. I liked her though, she's very personable.
Anyone who got a bad grade in her class either never opened the book during the semester or never showed up to class. Studying for the tests is mandatory and of course there is a lot of information people, it is about our history! But she is always helpful and if you get a bad grade, she will give you options to make it up!! GREAT TEACHER!!!
I really hated the class at first, but after getting to know Linda Yakle, I definitely loved the class. Yes she is hard, but I think she is just preparing students for the reality of college. This isn't high school anymore. I give her an A.
I had her for western humanities 1 online and her directions were very unclear, all she gave us to do was read the chapters in the book, she didn't do anything to really help us learn the material. I would not take this teacher.
Very interesting teacher who is passionate about her subject. This was an honors course, easy to pass if you do the work. See her outside of class if you need help.
I took Western Humanities w/Professor Yakle & loved it! She loves her job & it shows, she always had interesting stories of her travels to share that made the class more interesting. You definitely need to study as the tests cover a broad range of topics. I highly recommend taking Prof Yakle for Western Humanities. Shes an excellent Professor.
I took Comp1 Honors with Ms Yakle online. It was not that hard, but I have to admit it was a lot of work. She is not that clear on directions and takes a very long time to respond to emails. Sometimes even a week. There are 4 essays and the final is online too
A true GEM! Prof. Yakle made the subject easy to understand. She was patient, helped me to grasp certain ideas, and provided a TON of extra feedback. I noticed a huge improvement between my first and last assignments. I had to EARN my A and was so proud! She is one of the best professors I have ever had and I would love to take more of her classes.
A true gem. Professor Yakle is an exceedingly passionate teacher and genuinely cares both about her subjects as well as her students. She will work with you after class and will help you with everything. She was the best teacher I had at SPC.
One of the worst scatter brain and unorganized teachers I have had. No email response, takes a month to grade a simple 10 question quiz. Always late then makes you stay 20 minutes later while she blabs about nothing. Gives 3 exams based on about 3 chapters. You have to remember 60+ defs& all pics artist and were they came from, Class is a JOKE
You either LOVE her or absolutely HATE her, but when you're done... you have definately learned something. HATES to give grades on writing assignment that exceed 90%. "I only give "A's" on papers written at a graduate level." Tough to get an "A" in IDS Honors. You either ace the exams or a "B" is in your future. Papers are VERY subjective, so study
Hard tests but if you follow along and study, you can learn a lot of interesting history. She is also funny and makes the class entertaining.
AMAZING TEACHER!Absolutely knows her stuff.Hard class for sure so don't take it if you want to just "get by". Love her or hate her you're going to learn something. She is passionate about what she teaches and it shows. WHY WHY WHY can't all teachers be like YAKLE!
If a visual or Kenisthetic learner dont take.
This professor is GREAT. She is a motivational type teacher. She really knows what she is doing. If you do the work, you may get a good grade. Her quizzes are HARD but it was an honors class, so Im sure she is meant to challenge on that level. She always answers emails promptly and really has a great personality. Fun lady!
She is simply the best, but will work you to the ground. Highly professional and no-nonsense, which I liked very much.Very reluctant to give over 90 on papers. Always answers e-mails and ready to help with everything if you ask. Downside:if you a strict organizer, she will drive you insane; it takes her forever to grade papers.
Professor Yakle is highly professional, to the point. You have to devote the time to the assibments and readings if you want an A. There are a lot of readings and Videos to Watch but very educational. If you want to learn about humanity, she is great at it. If you are looking for an EASY class, this it not it. The effort is worht it, you will learn
I dislike Humanities but Yakle is the best teacher I've ever had. She made the history come alive. However, her blended class is to be avoided at all costs, take her twice a week class. With the blended class you get like thirty minutes of actual lecture per week. The textbook/videos are difficult to follow, you NEED her lectures.
Best. Professor. Ever.
Professor Yakle taught most of the Humanities portion of my IDS class, and I couldn't have been more happy. She's tough where she needs to be, but she is always willing to give help when students ask. She truly knows her stuff and for the most part, she understands busy schedules. I'd recommend taking any of her classes.
Very professional about the subject. Great person to talk to, knowledgeable overall. She is a bit strict, she is just no non-sense. Follow the instructions, read and take notes. Do your work on time and you'll be fine. Not and easy class but you will learn a lot, she makes it so interesting. Best professor I have ever had so far... Take her
Professor Yakle is tough, but fair. I took her honors interdisciplinary course and loved it. There is a lot of reading and course material in general, but if you take notes during the lecture and actually read the material it's a great class. She does like to talk about being a world traveler, but I don't think she's trying to be pretentious.
She is knowledgeable and passionate about her subject. if you do the work and ask for help if you need it you will be fine. I would take her again
amazing. Thinks outside of the box. not your typical boring professor and is hilarious and easy going.
Professor Yakle gives out five large tests within the semester including the final, that cover a broad range of cumulative information based on class notes, videos, study questions and the readings she assigns. However, she gives out extra credit for each test and you can drop the final or your lowest test score. Attending class definitely helps!
This class requires a lot of reading and in class discussion. Professor Yakle is very passionate, you can see this in the way she teaches. You have to work to get a good grade, but it isn't super difficult.
Takes for ever to write back to emails, hard assignments. Would not take her class online again.
She offers MANY extra credit opportunities, grades VERY fairly and always provides a TON of study material so you can be well prepared for exams. She is passionate, very funny - she is the best. I truly admire her and her love for the Humanities. NOT an easy course, very content heavy - but she makes it interesting and fun. Sad the class is over
I love this Professor!!! She makes you work for your grade, but she also gives PLENTY of opportunities to earn extra credit and she is very fair with grading. She DOES respond well to messages, even though I took her class on campus, she was always there for me when I needed her. She is fun, cheerful, caring, and she loves what she does.
She was ok. Sometimes the instructions weren't clear. She's very strict on grading too. When she provided feedback it was very specific or detailed
really tough grader. feedback received is not specific. no extra credit offered. not very responsive to emails. when I needed to ask questions, she seemed less then eager to assist.
Professor Yakle is not at all an easy grader but it is definitely possible to do well in her course. She gives you a grade based on the effort you put into it. NOT the kind of teacher you can cram study for tests are detailed. She is tough, but it pays off. Her writing critique has helped shape my current writing style.
She was one of the best professors ive ever had.
Decent class, pretty fun if you don't mind writing essays. About 10 or so essays and discussion posts of short to medium length.
