I would take another PSY course just to have her again!
excellent teacher, fun, interesting
Yes, take her if you dont want to learn anything.
Yelland rocks! she's awesome, & those who don't learn from her don't want to
Awesome teacher. One of the best. Funny and helpful.

I thought she was funny
I wasted money taking her classes.
make sure you buy the book because she won't teach you anything

Nice, enthusiastic, fun, cares about students. Tells what is on exam beforehand
she's way too concerned with entertaining and she can't even get that right
"I don't feel like teaching", She's right up there in the ranks of the useless
She makes class fun, and streight forword
I really liked taking this class from her
I think she has a duel personality problem
Alright.Uses lots of examples but gets off track easliy.Didn't learn enough.

Excellent class! Very interesting lectures and tests aren't too bad.

She made it fun, this school sucks so much she's only teacher I learned from

I thought she was hilarious, and a great teacher!
She's so awesome! I learned so much from her! Very worthwhile class!
WorkMakes class fun, which is good, but when the tests come, look out
Spends too much time performing in class, needs to spend more time teaching
Very fun, but is more of a goof than a teacher.
History and Systems is a tough class. Her tests are very difficult, study hard. She makes class fun and is fair. If you have a question on the test, ask her!
Very nice and funny teacher, but her tests are not as easy as she leads you to believe.
Great lecturer, easy to understand, you learn a lot and she's fun to listen to.
Reminds me of an overgrown clown. Means well, but I honestly think she is insane - not to mention annoying as hell.
Awesome class! Linda makes the subject material interesting and easy to understand. Her tests are hard though.
She spends too much time trying to amuse the class and students do not even need to attend as she lectures straight from the text. She also is unprofessional in speaking about students....such as speaking about students personal matters in class.
She needs to find a brain. I have a feeling she made up a lot of stories...
shes a friendly, decent professor. study, and u should be fine.
She does a great job in helping you understand through stories and experiences. Dr. Yelland is a very kind hearted woman and would do anything to assist her students.
Linda Yelland is an awesome Professor. She is extremely clear and wants her students to succeed. This was my second class w/Prof. Yelland, and it will definitely not be my last.
Doesn't take the class seriously, goofs off a lot, I went in thinking it would be amusing, but it got tiring and annoying. Thinks the students should take her class seriously and study hard, even though she doesn't. Tends to lead you on.
Great professor! Coming from engineering, this teacher is very entertaining and makes it very hard to get below a C. Studied for about an hour for each test and received an A on each one
I think she makes up the stories she tells as truth, but they are still relevent and entertaining. GO TO CLASS and YOU WILL PASS.
Made a boring topic fun!! Awesome professor
I spend a ton of money to go to college only to listen to her talk about her dogs, her house, and other nonsence? She should teach elementary school.
She's got issues. Funny but very nutty acting and acts like she is starved for attention.
Love this professor! I have her for the first time this semester for two classes, and they're both my favorite! She's funny and nice and easy-going, as well as very knowledgable! Take her classes, you won't regret it!
She needs to find a brain. She is out in orbit. I can't believe I pay to listen to her!!!
Easy class just sit back and listen to her stories and jokes just read the book.
She is an awesome professor. She tells you what questions will be on the test, very nice lady. But kinda crazy too.
Awesome Professor!
I Love Dr. Yelland! She is a bit nutty but that only makes her more fun! She knows her stuff!
This was my first class of my freshman year at the university and it was great. I am a junior now, and she is one of my favorite professors I have had thus far!
I loved her class and I loved her stories. She is the only teacher to ever keep my full attention in a 9am class!!!!
WONDERFUL TEACHER!!!! One of my favorites!
Linda is a wonderful professor and a recommend to any Psych major.
I have had several classes with Linda. She is so fun! She's nutty, but she knows her stuff, and it's a fun nutty! Very understanding and very helpful!
Linda Yelland is the best professor ever. She has so much energy for an 8:00am class, she keeps my interest for the entire class period. She is very helpful and is willing to do anything to help her students and their are no tricky questions on her exams.
Linda is a pleasure. Her class is very entertaining and informational. She's very clear about what will be on exams. She makes me laugh so hard. I think I even have a bit of a crush on her, and as a gay man that is damn good!
She's an amazing professor. She doesn't waste time in class, she keeps things interesting, and she's one of the nicest people you could meet.
Only people who like her class are people who like to slip by in this world without putting real work or effort. She is funny, tells stories, and allows long talks in her class that hold up learning but makes up for it buy rushing before an exam. Great if you're not a psych major, or are KPE idiot
She's so enthusiastic to teach, and very funny. I learned a lot from Dr. Yelland.
Great teacher! extremely funny...tells you exactly what's on the test...loves her job and likes to have fun...only the people who don't try in her class and don't go to class hate her...it's easy to get an A and learn the important stuff in psy 100
Very funny sort of bubble head makes class fun. Cant say I learned much but it was an easy grade.
Linda is GREAT!!!! Not only does she make calls fun, exciting, and a pleasure to attend, but she also makes sure that any student that wants to put forth the bare essentials is well prepared to take her exams. I really enjoyed this class, and that rarely happens in classes when I learn a lot. Thanks
She's very funny and laid back only thing though is that if her text books were any more watered down we would all drown. I liked her class got an A sold text and bought another text from Smiths class to keep for my own use. Just listen to her being funny and get an easy "A"!
I have taken three of Linda's classes: Social Psych, Motivation and Learning. I learned a lot, and she was supportive and energetic about her teaching. I would recommend her to anyone.

I'm not a morning person but she made me want to get up for the 9 am class, I didnt miss a day!!!
Linda is the best teacher I ever had. She can make a dry subject come alive. The Univ. of Maine is very lucky to have her on staff. She cares about students, is passionate about the subject, and she is very fair. I wish more Univ. Prof's. cared about their students the way that she does. Two Thumbs UP!!
She is Entertaining, funny, Easy "A", BUT if you actually want to learn psychology don't take her class. Her texts are a joke. She's great for a no brainer class and you'll get a good laugh, though I don't think she realizes that people are laughing at her and not with her.
AMAZING! This is a first class educator...
She gets great ratings from people who find her entertaining but you will not learn a thing from her and she is not that smart. Maine sucks!
She captures the attention of her students. She covers a lot of material and teaches in a very laid back and entertaining way, which is so refreshing. I've taken numerous classes from her and personally learned a lot in those classes. She is very to the point and doesn't waste your time. She's out to teach for understanding and keep it clear.
Some say she 'keeps it simple'. Thats because she waters down her classes and doesn't teach very much. Students who don't want to think at all like her a lot. She'll even teach you how to tie your shoes if you ask her, nap time is fun.
This professor may not appeal to psychological snobs since she usually does not lecture in constant psychological banter. She uses experiences to demonstrate theories, which doesn't mean she isn't capable. It conveys that she wants all students to be able to adapt theories & terms successfully. Exams are easy if you study notes & use study guide.
Interesting enough lectures, if you can wake up inthe morning for them. She's funny, and describes things in great detail. Often gives test questions & answers IN CLASS.
It's a great "NO BRAINER" professor but don't count on actually learning much. Maine students love her because they are stupid and lazzy and don't want to think anyway. I came here because UMaine was cheaper but it's not worth it. It's a brainless college. Its a great looking school, layed out wonderfully but that is all its got going for it.

She's still teaching? Wow, she was the most horrible bubbleheaded professor I have ever had years ago. Hopefully she's no longer so uneducated.
Hilarious, likes to tell stories to illustrate the material. VERY understanding about make-up exams. After an hr of class she gave us 20 min to get breakfast. Not on the study guide = not on the test.Need psy credits? busy schedule?TAKE A CLASS WITH LINDA! Sleep in & watch the vids if you prefer! The Umaine hater below can't even spell lazy or laid!
If you need a psychology credit without actually learning anything her classes are great! Just kick back listen to her jokes and get an easy grade.
easy class and professor as long as you don't slack and watch/go to the lectures. she's entertaining and has a lot of good examples.
Leave it to Linda Yelland to find a college text book in childrens-pop-up-book form; other course tools include crayons, safty scissors, eatable glue, joke book, a brain is optional. Had her in the fall and got a great grade but I don't think we actually did learn anything. I think a lot of students love her because it's an easy grade.
Linda is an amazing professor, she it alittle unorthodox which is why I think a lot of students like her, lets face it, someone needs to be entertaining that early in the morning, he stories always illustrate the topic and she is very understanding as far as exams. Show up and take notes and you will get an A.
ABSOLUTELY the most fantastic professor on campus. She's fun, makes the material interesting, and is just an amazing person. (she gave me 2$ for coffee one morning without me asking). This woman deserves an award. I switched my major to psych because she made it so fascinating. People say its easy because she really cares about our grades!

Dr. Yelland is by far a professor who cares about her students. While her classes are fun, she gets the point accross.TWO THUMBS WAY UP!! I learned a lot about why humans do the things they do and her application of theory into everyday experiences is amazing. A+ professor.
Great teacher! Really funny. She tries her best to keep the class interesting even if the topic is VERY boring. Theres no homework and the exams are super easy. Its quite obvious that she cares about her students.
I took a couple of class with her. One good thing about her is she tried to make her class interesting. She is nice to most of her students, but I somehow got on her bad side. Sometimes she would make inappropriate comments about me in front of the rest of the class.
I agree with the other post. Yelland is nice to most but seems to have students she obviously doesn't like, she too made statements about my personality that I felt was unfair in front of the whole class simply because she disagreed with me. She called me a "negative person" in front of the entire class and she made me feel bad about myself.
She's a really great professor, but is probably a little too easy. She would introduce an easy concept and then go on to explain for 10 or 15 minutes. She tells great stories, but at that hour in the morning I'd rather just get to the point. I probably would have enjoyed the class more if it wasn't so insanely early in the morning.
Easy enough class, and her stories were always entertaining.
Mama Linda!!!!
Mama Linda is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. While I understand why some people say the class doesn't require much thought it's not the case. She just has a different teaching style--teaching through story telling--rather than bland lecturing. She's fun, funny, and very willing to help.
i've only been to one class this semester. i still got a 90 on the first exam. she's a nice, fun person, but she's almost always babbling off about random stuff. don't bother going to class or even watch the videos online. just read the book and you're fine. unless you want to wake up at 7am or watch her online talking about her dog for 20 minutes
She is by far the sweetest professor I've ever had. She will help you tremendously if you ask. She does ramble about off-topic things, a lot. BUT, some of the subjects she teaches are pretty boring and her stories help make them more bearable. As an advisor she's useless. She doesn't want to be one and it shows. Seek guidance elsewhere!!!
I LOVE MAMA LINDA! She's funny, the class is easy and interesting (if you're a Psych major, most of the material will come up in other classes). She has a sense of humor.
love her! she makes a boring class fun!
Take this class!! Love her!! You do have to study a little but its not bad!! Definitely take this course with mama linda!!
mama linda is the best! she makes it interesting and easy while still teaching all of the material.
I didn't think she was all that great or smart. Other students love her because her classes are easy, watered, down, and she tells funny stories about herself. But as a serious student I didn't like her. I don't feel like we learned much. But you can't argue with popularity.
I don't get the hype. I've taken two of Linda's classes and I wasn't impressed with either of them. She seems nice enough but if you actually want to learn something, I'm sorry to say you'll probably be disappointed. She teaches required Psy classes so if that's your major you'll have her at least once.
Great class, learned a lot and it was fun to attend.
This is one of the best classes I have ever taken. To be honest, it is a pretty easy class, but that reflects Linda's personality. She's extremely kind, and genuinely wants all of her students to succeed. I did have to study a little for the tests. This class teaches you so many things that can help you out in your personal life. It is a must-take.
Excellent professor who truly cares about her students. I would recommend all psych majors take this class with her. She makes even the most mundane topics interesting.
Linda is an extremely wonderful, kind woman. She is very intelligent and her advanced education clearly shows. A great professor. I would recommend taking as many classes as you can with her.
Great professor lectures worthwhile
All around awesome teacher
Linda is an awesome professor. Her tests are not easy at the higher level, especially if you do not study. She is willing to work with you with any type of conflict. She is my favorite Psychology professor because she cares about her students and tries to make the material interesting - unlike a majority of the professors in the psych department.
Very entertaining, but frequently goes off topic. She doesn't sugar coat anything and gives you the information you need. Very relaxed class. Fairly easy (as long as you go to class and know the material). However, if you prefer a more straight-to-the-point teaching style, Yelland isn't for you.
If you go to class she will literally tell you questions that will be on the exam and what the answers are. If you go to class you'll pass. And if you're having a hard time during the test, if you go up and ask a question she'll basically give you the answer.
Linda seems like a wonderful person and the class is very easy. However, you do have to watch the lectures which she hasn't updated in 2 years in order to answer the quizzes that you can complete whenever throughout the semester. She's very unorganized and I had to speed up the her voice X2 in order to make it through each lecture.
This is what you need to do to get a 4.0 with Linda: Register for class. Don't buy book. Attend class once and laugh heartily at her stories and jokes. Watch Netflix and nap at in bed for the rest of the semester. When you don't get a good grade on the exams, make up a sad story. Congratulations, you've just earned yourself a 4.0 in Social Psych!
She was a grad student when I took a class she was teaching. I felt she was not a deeply intelligent teacher and didn't seem to take the class very seriously. Definitely NOT an Academic Scholar
The grad student teaching this class didn't seem very engaged. Though the material was easy, I didn't feel I got much out of it. Unstuck AI helped with study prep.
