History and Systems is a tough class. Her tests are very difficult, study hard. She makes class fun and is fair. If you have a question on the test, ask her!

She spends too much time trying to amuse the class and students do not even need to attend as she lectures straight from the text. She also is unprofessional in speaking about students....such as speaking about students personal matters in class.

Doesn't take the class seriously, goofs off a lot, I went in thinking it would be amusing, but it got tiring and annoying. Thinks the students should take her class seriously and study hard, even though she doesn't. Tends to lead you on.

Linda Yelland is the best professor ever. She has so much energy for an 8:00am class, she keeps my interest for the entire class period. She is very helpful and is willing to do anything to help her students and their are no tricky questions on her exams.

Only people who like her class are people who like to slip by in this world without putting real work or effort. She is funny, tells stories, and allows long talks in her class that hold up learning but makes up for it buy rushing before an exam. Great if you're not a psych major, or are KPE idiot

Linda is GREAT!!!! Not only does she make calls fun, exciting, and a pleasure to attend, but she also makes sure that any student that wants to put forth the bare essentials is well prepared to take her exams. I really enjoyed this class, and that rarely happens in classes when I learn a lot. Thanks

She's very funny and laid back only thing though is that if her text books were any more watered down we would all drown. I liked her class got an A sold text and bought another text from Smiths class to keep for my own use. Just listen to her being funny and get an easy "A"!

I have taken three of Linda's classes: Social Psych, Motivation and Learning. I learned a lot, and she was supportive and energetic about her teaching. I would recommend her to anyone.

Linda is the best teacher I ever had. She can make a dry subject come alive. The Univ. of Maine is very lucky to have her on staff. She cares about students, is passionate about the subject, and she is very fair. I wish more Univ. Prof's. cared about their students the way that she does. Two Thumbs UP!!

She is Entertaining, funny, Easy "A", BUT if you actually want to learn psychology don't take her class. Her texts are a joke. She's great for a no brainer class and you'll get a good laugh, though I don't think she realizes that people are laughing at her and not with her.

She captures the attention of her students. She covers a lot of material and teaches in a very laid back and entertaining way, which is so refreshing. I've taken numerous classes from her and personally learned a lot in those classes. She is very to the point and doesn't waste your time.She's out to teach for understanding and keep it clear.

Some say she 'keeps it simple'. Thats because she waters down her classes and doesn't teach very much. Students who don't want to think at all like her a lot. She'll even teach you how to tie your shoes if you ask her, nap time is fun.

This professor may not appeal to psychological snobs since she usually does not lecture in constant psychological banter. She uses experiences to demonstrate theories, which doesn't mean she isn't capable. It conveys that she wants all students to be able to adapt theories & terms successfully. Exams are easy if you study notes & use study guide.

It's a great "NO BRAINER" professor but don't count on actually learning much. Maine students love her because they are stupid and lazzy and don't want to think anyway. I came here because UMaine was cheaper but it's not worth it. It's a brainless college. Its a great looking school, layed out wonderfully but that is all its got going for it.

Hilarious, likes to tell stories to illustrate the material. VERY understanding about make-up exams. After an hr of class she gave us 20 min to get breakfast. Leave it to Linda Yelland to find a college text book in childrens-pop-up-book form; other course tools include crayons, safty scissors, eatable glue, joke book, a brain is optional. Had her in the fall and got a great grade but I don't think we actually did learn anything. I think a lot of students love her because it's an easy grade.

Linda is an amazing professor, she it alittle unorthodox which is why I think a lot of students like her, lets face it, someone needs to be entertaining that early in the morning, he stories always illustrate the topic and she is very understanding as far as exams. Show up and take notes and you will get an A.

ABSOLUTELY the most fantastic professor on campus. She's fun, makes the material interesting, and is just an amazing person. (she gave me 2$ for coffee one morning without me asking). This woman deserves an award. I switched my major to psych because she made it so fascinating. People say its easy because she really cares about our grades!

Dr. Yelland is by far a professor who cares about her students. While her classes are fun, she gets the point accross.TWO THUMBS WAY UP!! I learned a lot about why humans do the things they do and her application of theory into everyday experiences is amazing. A+ professor.

I took a couple of class with her. One good thing about her is she tried to make her class interesting. She is nice to most of her students, but I somehow got on her bad side. Sometimes she would make inappropriate comments about me in front of the rest of the class.

I agree with the other post. Yelland is nice to most but seems to have students she obviously doesn't like, she too made statements about my personality that I felt was unfair in front of the whole class simply because she disagreed with me. She called me a "negative person" in front of the entire class and she made me feel bad about myself.

She's a really great professor, but is probably a little too easy. She would introduce an easy concept and then go on to explain for 10 or 15 minutes. She tells great stories, but at that hour in the morning I'd rather just get to the point. I probably would have enjoyed the class more if it wasn't so insanely early in the morning.

Mama Linda is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. While I understand why some people say the class doesn't require much thought it's not the case. She just has a different teaching style--teaching through story telling--rather than bland lecturing. She's fun, funny, and very willing to help.

i've only been to one class this semester. i still got a 90 on the first exam. she's a nice, fun person, but she's almost always babbling off about random stuff. don't bother going to class or even watch the videos online. just read the book and you're fine. unless you want to wake up at 7am or watch her online talking about her dog for 20 minutes

She is by far the sweetest professor I've ever had. She will help you tremendously if you ask. She does ramble about off-topic things, a lot. BUT, some of the subjects she teaches are pretty boring and her stories help make them more bearable. As an advisor she's useless. She doesn't want to be one and it shows. Seek guidance elsewhere!!!

I didn't think she was all that great or smart. Other students love her because her classes are easy, watered, down, and she tells funny stories about herself. But as a serious student I didn't like her. I don't feel like we learned much. But you can't argue with popularity.

I don't get the hype. I've taken two of Linda's classes and I wasn't impressed with either of them. She seems nice enough but if you actually want to learn something, I'm sorry to say you'll probably be disappointed. She teaches required Psy classes so if that's your major you'll have her at least once.

This is one of the best classes I have ever taken. To be honest, it is a pretty easy class, but that reflects Linda's personality. She's extremely kind, and genuinely wants all of her students to succeed. I did have to study a little for the tests. This class teaches you so many things that can help you out in your personal life. It is a must-take.

Linda is an awesome professor. Her tests are not easy at the higher level, especially if you do not study. She is willing to work with you with any type of conflict. She is my favorite Psychology professor because she cares about her students and tries to make the material interesting - unlike a majority of the professors in the psych department.

Very entertaining, but frequently goes off topic. She doesn't sugar coat anything and gives you the information you need. Very relaxed class. Fairly easy (as long as you go to class and know the material). However, if you prefer a more straight-to-the-point teaching style, Yelland isn't for you.

If you go to class she will literally tell you questions that will be on the exam and what the answers are. If you go to class you'll pass. And if you're having a hard time during the test, if you go up and ask a question she'll basically give you the answer.

Linda seems like a wonderful person and the class is very easy. However, you do have to watch the lectures which she hasn't updated in 2 years in order to answer the quizzes that you can complete whenever throughout the semester. She's very unorganized and I had to speed up the her voice X2 in order to make it through each lecture.

This is what you need to do to get a 4.0 with Linda: Register for class. Don't buy book. Attend class once and laugh heartily at her stories and jokes. Watch Netflix and nap at in bed for the rest of the semester. When you don't get a good grade on the exams, make up a sad story. Congratulations, you've just earned yourself a 4.0 in Social Psych!

She was a grad student when I took a class she was teaching. I felt she was not a deeply intelligent teacher and didn't seem to take the class very seriously. Definitely NOT an Academic Scholar
