Prof. B. is efficient in getting through the material. That being said, it was a very rushed class and Prof. B. expressed little-to-no interest in further explaining confusing topics. When students asked questions, she was sarcastic and demeaning, seemingly looking to find humor in making students feel stupid. This will be the worst class you take.
The professor went through everything we needed to cover for the course. I'll give her that, but she went so fast. I couldn't keep up, the people around me couldn't keep up. And she doesn't like to slow down and answer questions. There is a lot of HW. Her class took up most of my time and I still struggle to stay on top of everything.
At the beginning of taking this class, it was a little difficult, but you can get caught on quick. She does go a little fast on explaining things, but you can get help from her to understand better. She really tries to give the best grade to her students and gives helpful feedbacks on how to do it better the next time.
Professor B. was probably one of the least prepared professors. She would be on her phone reading the notes and went straight to the answer without giving any explantation. I can also vouch for the review which stated horrible attitude when students asked question. Do not take her unless you have a great understanding of calculus beforehand.
Homework was usually a short take home quiz of around 6 question, excel assignments that she goes over in class, & mymathlab online assignments that she also goes over. Two projects, which 2nd one became optional & 3 exams. She cares about her students & wants them to pass you just have to ask her if you have questions I recommend office hours.
Im glad I took this professor she made things very clear and even included review days in class time, she lets us know the best way to study and the exams are exactly what they should be like considering you studied what she told you to. There is a lot of homework but its manageable & if you do it all than it really helps your class grade overall
I dropped this class after 1 week of attending. She's rude, gives attitude when you ask her questions, and demeaning when you got something wrong on an assignment so she makes you feel dumb for a mistake. I do not recommend taking her.
It was very bad experience taking class with her. Get ready to copy your book in your notes literally. She would write every single thing on with out explaining any thing . Even examples she would copy and not explain any thing . Home work is your whole syllabus, every single question. She cuts grades like crazy , I would not recommend taking her.
The first day of class, she seemed decent.... until the second day, which was horrible. She talks so quickly. I swear she does not even have time to take breaths. Be prepared to take notes nonstop for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Also, she has quite an attitude when speaking to the students. Math is already difficult for me, she does not help at all.
Horrible professor, please do not take for the sake of your sanity and well being. Goes over notes very quickly, seems like she's only there for her salary and does not clarify questions. I am dropping this class ASAP.
Prof Buckingham teaches the lessons at her own pace, it is hard to figure out what she is explaining. If you ask questions, she won't explain the answer, she will only repeat what she said and then be shocked that you don't understand it. She says we are allowed to email her with questions, but when you email her, she complains about it.
To all my fellow people with ADHD: do NOT take this class. I cannot do hours of busywork each week, but it's 25% of my grade. She's also weirdly specific about grading; for example, she took off 4 points just because I put my categorical question first instead of last in a project check-in. I'm great at math, but I'll be lucky if I get a low C.
Be prepared to spend a ridiculous amount of time on her homework assignments just to get bad grades on them because you didn't justify your answers enough. Her lectures are nonstop and decently useless if you can't keep up with writing which you won't be able to because she talks way too fast.
She's not accessible to meet after class, she gives a lot of homework and is just a horrible person. She made me cry after class and I will never forget that. The test screwed me up.
one homework assignment took hours each week, and there's usually 3 due each week. horrible lectures, she talks like a flight attendant. she doesn't care about students, rushes lectures, gets annoyed when students ask questions, never explains anything well, will not do practice problems in class. Is not helpful during office hours. Moves way too fast. Condescending. I have a head ache by the time I leave trying to keep up. SO MUCH HOMEWORK. Do not take this class with her if youre taking other classes or working. No extra credit. Grades way too hard for her teaching method. You will have to self teach for HOURS A WEEKS.
If you want a good GPA do not take her, that simple. I currently have a 90, and no I am not out of the ordinary smart I am a regular student. I study my butt of for this class, in her syllabus she says something about how its a self taught class she was not wrong. Shes rude when you ask her question, please do not take her!!!! you have been warned

Absoulety the worst professor ever. I have stayed after so many times to ask for help, and she will sit there and laugh in your face because you dont understand the topic. Honestly would not recommend her, terrible experience. Doesnt accept late work, talk to you so disrespectful.

Professor Buckingham is a great professor she definitely wants her students to pass and cares about their well being!! This isn't much of a rigorous course but there is a lot of homework which in the end is extremely helpful for tests!! She gives two projects for the entire semester but its not bad.
Prof. Buckingham was a good professor, but could be sassy at times. There was a decent amount of homework, but it really helped me learn the material. We had four tests during the semester, which could be hard for some people. We also had some very long lectures. I feel that she prepared me for Calculus.
You definitely have to study like you usually would for any other class but its nothing too difficult you literally study what you practice in class and the exams should be a piece of cake. Im not the best at math but I passed this class with an A so if your not the best at math and your willing to put in the work take her!!!
Professor Buckingham gave homework that took hours to do. She had to curve a lot because of how people were doing. The only reason why I did well in this class was because I took AP Statistics last year. She also gave out parts of our project at the last minute.
I was added to this class last minute, and didn't know anything about Prof. Buckingham. She is very nice and is willing to help students when you go to her office hours. You can bring in past tests and have her go over them with you. ALEKS was difficult at first but then you get the hang of it.
To be completely honest, her class is completely self-taught. She doesn't really care much about what grade you get in her class and isn't lenient whatsoever. There are a lot of faults with how she sets up her online work. If you have technology issues, she doesn't work with you to solve the issue. Only take this class if you were good at Algebra.
Prof Buckingham means well but simply doesn't pass the vibe check. She is rude, moves fast, and belittling when asked questions. When asked clarifying questions about math she simply doesn't explain and honestly makes students feel dumb for asking. Luckily, I passed but I credit that to my amazing math tutor. Def wouldn't recommend her... at all.
Out of all my professors- she was the least accommodating when we moved to online bc of COVID-19. She kept everything the same and only extended due dates when there was a tech. difficulty. Makes you work for the grade, but does her excels in class, so bring ur laptop. She moves fast through problems and doesn't have very good reviews before tests.
If you put in the work, you will pass, it's that simple. I got a C+ in the class. I hadn't taken math in 15 years, so I had a LOT of catch up to do especially in a 6 week class. She gives pre-recorded videos that are VERY helpful! so that the virtual class is shorter. She is very friendly and very patient. I don't get why she has a low score.
Prof Buckingham is one of the worst professors I've ever had. She does make an effort to provide us with videos and such online, but the workload is ridiculous. I've never taken a class, esp not a 100 class, that was this content heavy. Most of it is busy work and I didn't learn anything from it. Her attitude also comes off as extremely rude.
SHE ISNT THE WORST BUT ALSO ISNT THE BEST, DOES NOT GIVE REVIEWS FOR EXAMS AND THEY ARE ALL WRITEN ANSWERS. THERE IS ALSO A HUGE AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK THAT TAKES AT LEAST AN HOUR.
She is a nice person but she isn't too kind with grading. The test are fine because she gives a formula sheet but the amount of homework is far too much. The homework is graded as well. Leave at least 3 hours open to just finish the homework. She hasnt been really flexible with classes moving online either. Would not recommend her.
Professor Buckingham was a good teacher and was very clear in her lectures. She's not lenient with late work. As long as you do most of your homework you will be fine. you don't necessarily need the txtbk you just need the Macmillan access to do all of the MyLab HW. My class with her was a hybrid. went in for lectures but did the work online
Prof. Buckingham honestly is a very good professor. Unfortunately when it comes to math, students that do not put in any work leave poor reviews because they expect to take a math class and get an A with minimal effort. If you do the Homeworks and attend lectures, you will get a good grade. she also gives lots of partial credit on all the exams.
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST This professor loves to belittle students when asking questions, expects you to know the material before she teaches it, also said you cant use a calculator and that it is math department policy for all MATH 161 classes when that is not true. She's really nice. Narrates her own powerpoints so that you can go back and review the info if needed. She goes over everything in-depth and explains things really well.
Professor Buckingham often approaches student's questions with a judgemental tone, also gives extremely condescending feedback on assignments. She assigns more homework than any other college class I've had, and the homework cannot be turned in late. Concepts that are honestly pretty easy to understand are made extremely confusing.
Professor Buckingham is just... alright. She responds to emails even though most of the time she points out what else you could do yourself instead of actually helping you. Her lectures are boring and you should skip them. Her tests are full of softball questions and not hard. Study for the exams, get the homework in on time and you'll get an A.
The semester is about to end and I hope I can pass with a C. Her class is so hard and the amount of homework she gives is crazy. If you end up taking her, prepare yourself with many hours of doing Hw. Her exams are written exams and there is no multiple choice so before you take an exam I recommend you study. Honestly take someone else if you can!!
Taking classes and do ur homework on time, you will get A. You don't have to buy textbooks, but Pearson. Honestly, the test is not difficult at all. a lot of homework every week. but she provides homework schedules, so it doesn't matter. Tests mostly come from ppts and some from extra video. she gives curve and extra pt, so just do it for ur grade
She is a tough math teacher to have. The only time I truly understood what she was teaching was during the review sections. Her lectures have too much information and its hard to understand it all. She goes into too much detail. Find another professor
Very reasonable and nice professor. If you're using ALEKS software for HW, do yourself a favor and use the ALEKS practice section, its the same as the test. I can assure you if you use ALEKS over and over again the questions are extremely identical to the real exam. Use the ALEKS guided help for step-by-step practice, email her with questions.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She does not care about students at all. She cuts a lot of points just because you did not show simple math that is elementary school obvious. You can never predict where she will cut you points next over silly unnecessary things. She assign A LOT OF HOMEWORK outside MyMathLab that are extra for no reason. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!
I have been at nova for two years now and she is by far the worst professor I have had. Garbage professor. Will give you a zero if you don't show work completely, whatever you do don't take her. You will regret it- I promise.
In my last 2 semester I have taken A on my calculus 1 and calculus 2 and I always love to do math. However, that was until I took her class :) she does not put things together for her class. Assigns lots of homework, projects and additional problems that are SO LONG. Tests are extremely difficult and long. Cuts SO MANY points for silly things
Mrs.B posts videos of the lessons online and only goes over examples of the topics in person without explaining them. Videos are crucial and if you don't watch them in class you will be lost. She flys through the problems and is very blunt when answering questions. It was a stressful class because of her, she is a kind person but cannot teach.
Worst instructor literally ever. Flys through problems and doesn't explain them. Expects students to watch her videos online to understand material - we are paying for you to teach, not just once and record it.. but in every class. Incredibly patronizing and unprofessional. I would recommend avoiding her at all cost.
She is very snarky whenever you ask her a question, I only did that once and never did again. She expects you to know everything…not everyone likes math nor does everyone have a diploma on math. I would not take her again but I decided to keep her class because I don’t like to quit things. It was certainly very hard to get through.
Unprofessional and a poor teacher. She is rude to her students and answers her phone during class. I have learned more from googling the topics gone over in class than from her lectures. Exams are tedious and not enough time is given. Tons of HW. She is very knowledgeable, but not everyone is meant to teach. If you struggle with math, run!!
The worst professor I have EVER had. I had to learn via Khan Academy just to get a B. The notes are organized in such a way where 99% of the information is useless, and you have to read between the lines to get anything useful. I am constantly drowning in homework, most of my coursework for this semester is this class and I have a full schedule.
Her lectures and notes were not very useful for actually learning the material. I don't think she stopped once during a lecture to make sure everyone was on the same page. Expect to be learning on your own. She curved everyone's tests up by 20-30 points. The "project" was BS and pretty much just busywork. Never have I had to write a paper for math
I really liked her teaching style. It was a hybrid course so if you watched the videos, class was super easy. Most homework you can redo until you get it right and quizzes are completion graded. Tests are fairly easy if you pay attention in class.
Don't take this class if you want a professor that actually teaches the material. 5+ hrs of homework a week outside of class and will basically be teaching yourself the material. There're prerecorded videos to watch before class. Prof spends class flying through examples of what was in the videos. The lectures are long and hard to follow.
Professor Buckingham relied on the ALEKS software to teach this semester and I'll be honest, I'm so glad. I've never been able to understand math well, but, between the software and what we went over in class, I understood everything she did. A LOT of homework, but if you want to do well, make sure you do everything.

MTH263. Not learned anything from her lectures because she speeds through examples like she's showing off instead of teaching step by step. Lots of homework is assigned from the textbook which makes it difficult to know if you're doing it right or not. Her lecture slides and the textbook are not helpful, you MUST use outside resources to study.
Worst teacher ever. I seriously can never get through her lectures she rushes through everything and gets mad when you don't understand something. I've yet to complete a homework assignment in aleks because of how much work she gives us. Not to mention how the number of topics never go down and having to spend a ridiculous amount of time on.
I would give her a 0 if I could.
Don't do it. She assigns three 36 question homework assignments through mylab per class alongside three quizzes and frequent excel projects. This class took over my life and I barely had any time for myself. She teaches nothing and is extremely mean towards people who ask questions.
WAY TOO MUCH WORK I barely have time to myself to do other work because she decides to assign 3 video quizzes, 3 mylabs averagely 30 questions 100 points each, PLUS activity assignments AND projects, every single week, so 7-9 assignments due all in one day. Students also struggle with finishing the TESTS!! STAY AWAY from this stressful class!!
Uses Aleks to grade ur work. A lot of work even If you don't do it last minute. Only thing I liked about this class was getting to leave early. Overall, I would not take it again.
Pretty strict. She lectures the full time and rushes through just to get them done. Doesn't stop to make sure students understand. HW will take you hours to complete. 4 tests and a final, all are very tough. Does have designated office hours so you can access her outside of class. She will get passive-agressive if you try and correct her.
DO not even take her if this is your last option, wait next semester for a better opportunity. She just talks through lectures and does not explain the work. When you are confused and ask questions, she is very passive aggressive and will sigh before answering a question. DO not take her even if its your last option she is horrible.
This class was easily the most excruciating academic experience I have ever been subjected to. Professor Buckingham assigns three mylab assignments which take an average of 3 hour EACH, three video quizzes, and an Excel project almost WEEKLY, if you're lucky you will also have to study for a test due on the same day! Had no time for anything else.

Literally one of the meanest human beings that I have ever met, I have no idea how anyone could put up with her.
This class took over my life kind of, I did a 9-5 through ALEKS on top of my Job. Instead of Teaching material, we paid for a program to sell our souls too. The most defeating thing about this class is the weight of things, the homework's that take forever to do is only a fraction of what counted for points. She seemed quite hostile.
DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT! Take a class with this professor. I don't care what the circumstances are, I don't care if it is the last class available, just save yourself while you can.
Listen to all the reviews, she really is not a great professor. She goes at her own pace to make sure she gets to all the modules so sometimes she rushes through them without really explaining much. There was so much homework that it felt like showing up to class was the least of your concerns, you knew she wasn't actually going to teach anything. She's rude to most of the students if they don't already understand the material.
It is impressive how horrible this professor is. Her exams expect us to write down work as well answers, if you make a simple mistake you will receive a 0. Typical math class, you would get some partial points for unit errors but she tends to deduct whole points just to lower everyone's grades. She needs to do better.
You have to be willing to put in the work to get an A. Don't expect to fully understand in-person lectures if you don't watch the pre-class videos. Homework is manageable if you break it down throughout the week. The test is pretty much predictable because it's all from ALEKS. She's also approachable and willing to help you during office hours.

This professor is okay but also very impatient with people who don't immediately get the material. Too much homework and too many questions on exams because no one would ever finish it the whole exam on time. I would not recommend her at all. Though, I'm very thankful she did extra bonus point discussions for the final exam because it made me pass!
DO NOT TAKE! SO MUCH Aleks work. I did not feel welcome in this class at all. During unit review days, we would ask questions, and she would roll her eyes, sigh, and respond with minimal effort. Thankfully, I could pass her class by completing all the extra credit and taking advantage of her "final exam score replaces the lowest test grade" policy.
I HIGHLY advise for you to take a different professor. This is a very ALEKS heavy class, it will take over everything. However, if you do take the class make sure you take your own set of notes alongside the ones she provides. PAY ATTENTION to everything, it will come bite you in the end.
Wish I read the reviews before taking this class. Does not explain things thoroughly. Also 95% of her examples are taken from the textbook so there is no variety when looking through the textbook trying to understand a concept. Homework has been taking me 12+ hours a week on average. Very snappy and has a sour attitude when asked about problems.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! Please read the reviews. I am late to putting in my own review but I took her in the fall 2023 semester. Traumatized me! SO incredibly rude with a disgusting attitude. ALEKS will basically be your full time job and don't bother asking her any questions unless you want to be acknowledged with snappy remarks, sighs, and eye-rolls.
Worst professor ever! I had to take her because I enrolled late and she was the only option. When asking for help or questions she gets annoyed and is very rude. If you try asking for help she will embarrass you in front of the class. Ended up dropping the class because she was insufferable and there was no way I was going to pass that class.
Overall good quality professor. Class instruction is straightfoward, exam questions are very similar if not copy/paste from aleks. Just be ready to do alot of practice problems.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER unless you want to fail and not understand a single thing . I took her last year as a helper class for PRE CALC and she made me feel like a complete fool. She was very annoyed when asked questions and even called me out for failing the midterm because I looked at my phone for 1 second.
She gave the most miserable lectures that I can possibly recall. She was mean to everyone for the simplest questions. Despite being mean and passive aggressive, she was really organized and actually did understand the content. She also was technologically proficient. I imagine shes just tired of apathetic students and takes it out on the world.

The expectation with any math is that you will be assigned HW as it's a class based on understanding. She never assigns HW that is useless. It all helps you on the midterm and the final, both of which are worth less for your grade than the HW completion grade. Get the work done on time and you'll be fine. Attendance is an easy grade.
Professor Buckingham is a good professor. She cares a lot about her students and wishes for them to succeed, especially with her anti-AI stance. Her lectures are understandable enough and the HW is definitely not busy work and actually extremely beneficial for the tests. The tests are easy enough as well and she tends to curve grades upward.
Fairly easy class, but definitely note-heavy. Homework isn't too bad as long as you pay attention in lectures, as the professor usually goes over homework questions there. Quizzes were easier than homework, and harder questions would be for bonus points. Also drops the 2 lowest grades at the end.
