Almost everything is online, just 2 in class presentations and 3 assessments. Lectures are boring but if you go and copy the notes you're guaranteed at least a B on the online tests and quizzes. In class tests are harder than she makes it sound but she'll help you get a good overall grade. Great overall for a gen Ed and she's a super sweet lady!
Sweetest prof ever-brings candy, even bought a kid tropical smoothie once. Let's class out early sometimes, all tests at home online, 3 or 4 in class quizzes (study) but she gives you 5 minutes to use your notes before turning in! Very minimal homework (10 mins per week), 2 short papers (but she cut one as extra credit!), posts ppts. TAKE HER!!!
Most of King's class is online. 1 online assignment due every week and all exams are taken out of class online. Only 4 on class quizzes that are open note for 5 minutes. Not the easiest class I've ever taken but King is a sweetheart and is always willing to help you out. You don't really use the textbook either. I would recommend taking King!
Easiest class I've taken in my life. Online tests, grades any other assignments way leniently, and is usually pretty fun. It's by far the best Critical Thinking to take.
Professor King is a great lady she's very sweet and willing to help. The material she teaches is not hard at all however the tests are tricky and not as easy as I thought. Everything is submitted online though and tests are done online as well.
Easy online tests, 2 easy projects, very chill lady, very clear material, overall just a simple, easy course. Useful stuff for the future too (i.e. Tax and credit chapters). Highly recommend
This a good class to take for Gen ed credit. King is just hard on grading, and does not prepare the best for the test and quizzes which are hard. Not a bad class to take besides that.
Super nice!!! Lectures aren't bad and she has a lot of activities and videos incorporated. Only takes attendance 10 (random) times. The tests aren't impossible but the online activities progressively get harder. Would DEFINITELY recommend though.
This is an easy class. Read the book and show up and you will do well. She takes attendance 12 times for a grade but drops 2. She is an easy grader, very nice, and I highly recommend taking her.
She's great. Very sweet, clear on what she expects from you and is pretty laid back. As long as you pay attention you'll be fine. She lets you out early pretty frequently. Definetly take her!!
Lindsay was ok. Her lectures were long but I feel like they didn't help me at all on the tests. You need to read/study the textbook. The test questions are very confusing. There is a group project which she is not very helpful with but I think that's because she wants her students to be independent and create it themselves with minimal guidelines.
The class itself is really easy as long as you read the book and study for the test. The lectures get kinda boring after the first 15 minutes, but she usually lets class out early. I wasn't a big fan of all the activities she planned in class. I wish she would have just stuck with lecturing. The final is online and one group project at the end.
She's a nice lady. Posts all powerpoints on canvas before lectures. Few assignments and an easy group project at the end of the semester. Exams are multiple choice but you definitely need to read the book and study for them.
This class is an easy A. As long as you study for the tests and read the textbook, you will be fine. Beware it is VERY boring class and many times she has almost bore me to death because of her lectures. She will spend 20minutes on one slide, but she is really sweet and nice. She has online quizzes but 90% of the answers are online!!
King is very passionate about the subject but the lectures can get a bit boring and tend to be very basic material. Definitely need to read the textbook for the texts because they are harder than they should be. Easy quizzes that you can google the answers for. Takes attendance randomly and drops two lowest. Overall super sweet lady.
Lectures are super boring and super basic. Quizzes are super easy and all online. The tests are SO HARD. It's crazy how hard they are compared to the rest of the class. they are wordy and all the answers seem like they could work. You actually have to have the textbook to pass this class
Professor King is really nice and makes the class interesting. There are 3 tests and a final which are all easy if you read the textbook chapters, and there are about 8 online quizzes that aren't that bad. She takes attendance 10 times throughout the semester and drops 2 of those grades.
She just is not a good professor. Her class was also beyond boring. Her tests were way harder than she made them out to be and she also was not helpful at all when I went to her office hours.
The test is literally all textbook you wont get an A without reading thoroughly. Shes very nice and outgoing.
her lectures are boring but the class is easy apart from the tests that are SO hard. you really have to read the textbook and understand the material to get an A, doesn't answer emails
Professor King is a very kind woman, but you need to pay attention in this class and read the textbook in order to pass. The quizzes on Canvas are also pretty hard and they make you think. Everything done in class is easy and she's willing to help anyone that needs help.
Sweet professor but super boring lectures. Test are more difficult than needed to be. Her power points dont really prepare you for the test. All online quizzes can be found on google. Attendance is not mandatory but she does do attendance checks which can harm your grade if you skip a lot.
The quizzes are "critical thinking," so they're difficult and not on material learned in class. She checks attendance every few classes for a grade, but it's easy to make over the needed amount. The class was pretty boring to me, but it might be because I'm not interested in business. Overall, she's nice but makes the class difficult.
Very easy class, but the material is very basic and not that interesting.
Tests are straight forward from the book but the critical thinking quizzes are nothing from the book or class and are extremely difficult. Group project at the end of semester is fun.
Ms. King has been one of my favorite professors at JMU. Her classes are strictly lecture and readings from the book that are generally common sense. She gives extremely easy online quizzes but other than that gives very little homework. Also, she often cancels class or lets you out early.
Professor King is a good professor. The online assignments in the beginning of the year are super easy, everything is in the book. She often lets out of class early and cancels class. She teaches the subject well and uses good examples in class to help you remember some things. The last 2 units are the hardest but if you study you'll be fine.
The tests are all straightforward and come from the book or in-class lectures/videos. Going to class is not required, but she gives some helpful hints for the tests if you go to class. The only complaint I have is that her lectures are extremely boring.
The material isn't hard to understand or anything but sometimes I felt like she didn't really know exactly what she was talking about. But this never affected any assignment or exam.
This class is definitely an easy A just do the online homeworks (they dont take long at all) and study with the information from that and the powerpoint lectures and youll be set. Even though the powerpoints are given before class I would still go bc she gives a lot of info not on them. Overall would take again. But she doesnt round grades up
Ms. King was super nice. she lectures for the tests and if you go to class you will get extra info that she puts on the test that was only discussed in class. She is super nice and cancels classes a lot.
Ms. King is by far one of the nicest and easy going professors at JMU. You have a lot of assignments that are primarily online to get easy points. She cancels class a lot and attendance isn't recorded. She will go over specific things that only occur in class for the tests but it usually is only one or two questions worth.
Overall a pretty easy class but the tests are HARD. Attendance is optional but she will give in-class assignments usually once a week with no notice, so if you miss them you will get a 0 and cant make them up (they are not weighted very heavy). Nice lady with a LOT of energy
The class is pretty easy, you just have to show up and listen a little. She gives random in-class assignments, and if you miss them you lose points; but they don't impact your grade that much. Her exams are not bad, they just take common sense to get through. She wants your to participate and if you do, class will go so much faster.
I would like to preface this by saying i write reviews for all my professors. Lindsay King is a very solid choice for BUS160. There might be easier professors out there but she is still good. You're graded on 4 tests, and about a dozen in class assignments. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't go to class you wont pass. Overall good teacher.
This class was my only B this semester. More than half of your grade comes from the tests, and there is no online work as the reviews below me say, I think she changed that this year. Mrs. King was an energetic and bright lecturer, but her tests were WAY too hard and there are definitely easier classes to take in this cluster. Avoid!
King was one of the best professors I have had at JMU thus far. I got B's on the first 2 tests, I talked to her after one class to get studying tips, she was very helpful & I was able to get A's on the other 2 tests. I missed classes that had in-class assignments & that brought my grade down. Go to class (interesting lectures) & you will do well!
Dr. King is the best teacher for bus160. She knows what she wants to teach you, and knows that she doesn't need every class to do it. We got a lot of Fridays off! The hardest part of the class is the tests, didn't study for the first one and got a C. Although the material comes from lecture, she really embraces the critical thinking aspect!
Taking Bus 160 with Ms. King was great. She's a nice lady that gives most every Friday off. Most of the class is taught through the book; it's really easy.
LOVE HER!!! My favorite teacher at JMU so far. Shes amazing and teaches the information so well. I highly recommend!!!!!!
Really good choice for BUS160! You can tell that she cares so much about what shes teaching and her students. Overall a pretty easy class, but I don't recommend skipping class because she gives lots of attendance/extra credit & make sure to do online assignments.
Ms King is a really good professor. Her lectures can be boring sometimes, but she takes attendance periodically. You will always get out about 5 minutes early, and sometimes have online class on Friday. She states she doesn't round in her syllabus, but I emailed and talked to her and she ended up giving me an A.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Gives amazing interesting funny lectures. Cares about each student / is more than willing to do whatever she can to help. A few tests (non-cumulative final) online quizzes and a group presentation. Book is very helpful. Amazing woman I looked forward to class. Not painfully difficult.
She is so nice and such an easy class
I really recommend as a Gen Ed. It's super easy as there's only one synchronous day and in-person is optional. She posts weekly assignments with lectures so it's lowkey a lot of notes but most of it is basic knowledge and stuff learned before. Attendance isn't mandatory but recommended. Use your notes on quizzes and tests and you'll be fine
She was my favorite. If every professor was like her, the world would be a wonderful place!!! TAKE HER!!! The only pet peeve I had about her class was her tests and reading questions were set up where you could only see the test questions once and when you answered it you would never get to see them again. She's AMAZING!!
Professor King is a great option to take. Her lectures are very detailed, and she gave insight into questions that would appear on exams. Definitely attend her lectures and look through the textbook.
LOVED prof King! Take her if you can! She's very caring and approachable. Class was an easy GenEd and she offers easy extra credit every now and then. Lectures and assignments were very straight forward and I really enjoyed her class.
Professor King is a very nice women she's always happy and tries her best to make the class interesting. It's a pretty easy gen-ed, tests are pretty straight forward from the PowerPoints and textbooks. She's a good choice for Bus160.
Professor King is very kind and does her best to make the material interesting. The tests and quizzes are kind of difficult because the notes that are given in the powerpoints are very general and the assessment questions are more detail oriented. Overall this class wasn't too difficult.
usually a quiz and a discussion post due fridays. It takes her awhile to grade, and she takes points off and doesn't give feedback. Tests are usually application based and hypothetical questions, she is oddly specific on quiz/test questions so make sure you read and look at the posted power points. Everyone did bad on the final + she didn't curve.
Online had a few ansyc assignments a week and a quiz that were all easy A's. The tests were a little harder, but you can get a B easy if you do bare minimum studying.
Mrs. King is a super kind woman and her lectures are interesting and engaging. Read the textbook chapter every week (they're brief and easy to read), go to the lectures, take good notes on both, and try on the assignments and you'll be perfectly fine. Tests are important so study, but none of the material is that complex. Overall, easy class.
Prof. King is very kind. There are discussion posts and weekly quizzes/other small assignments, but the tests make up the majority of your grade. The content is relatively easy to understand, but if you don't study for the tests, you most likely won't do well on them since the questions can be confusing at times.
Professor King is so kind and made BUS 160 both easy and fun! Strongly recommend taking her for this class if you get the chance!!
You def have to show up to class and study to pass this class, especially if you're not business affiliated. The tests aren't that hard, just make sure to take notes on things she says, and not just the powerpoint. Prof King is my bff and my queen. Sign up for her class asap pronto rapido
prof king is very nice. as long as you take some notes and cram before the test, you'll pass easily. as a non-business major, she made BUS 160 very easy and understandable.
take prof king!! she is so nice and eager to teach and gives mom vibes in the best way possible. she doesn't do homework and cancels class a lot. there is a quiz due every Friday but its take home and the answers are on quizlet so its an easy 100. she does review day the class before the test and if you pay attention you will do great. TAKE HER
Professor King is a great choice for this class. I never read the textbook or studied really and got a B-. I'm sure if you actually take notes and study it's and easy A. You have to go to class because there's usually a in class assignment that if you miss you can't make up. There's a quiz each Friday that's online but they're easy. Tests are hard.
Super nice teacher and quizzes are all online and easy. The only TERRIBLE thing about this class is that all tests are in person and lockdown browser. The tests are SUPER hard and we go over definitions in class then the tests are all real-life examples. She also does a lot of in-class activities... so do not miss class.
Prof King is such a sweet lady. Her tests are very hard, she really emphasizes the idea of critical thinking, but other than tests, the class is very easy. Weekly quizzes that are open notes, only 1-2 homework assignments. Go to class for participation grade/in class activities. Luckily, she cancels classes a lot, we barely had Friday classes.
We had 4 tests and one was dropped. Everyone did poorly on tests, each one averaged a C grade. I didn't think it was bad though. Pretty standard class, professor is not good or bad. I would take it again if I had to. Probably easier gen eds if that's what you are looking for.
Such a kind & caring professor who does her best to get students to pass & understand the material. Many did poorly on the 1st exam so she dropped our lowest test grade. She also provides academic advising if you ask for it. Not much homework assigned & sometimes cancels class. Lectures involve easy to follow powerpoints & notes. She's great!
Professor king is so sweet but the tests are not easy. it is important to take additional notes on top of her lectures and take advantage of her study guides. The tests are all about critical thinking so they are hard. She dropped our lowest test grade which was nice.
I currently have this professor, I think she is really sweet and good at lecturing us the material. The exams are super tough though. They do not match up to the lecture slides at all. The questions are critical thinking questions that give real world examples which we do not practice in class. You have to study hard to succeed.
A pretty easy class but lectures can be boring. Sometimes things she says in class will be on the test so its important to listen to the lectures. Although its a pretty boring class she usually lets us out pretty early.
she is so caring and nice, attendance is suggested not mandatory, lecture heavy but she posts powerpoints. tests are kind of hard for how easy the class is, but if you study you will be fine. definitely recommend, easy gened.
overall, dr.king is a very compassionate and caring professor who clearly knows what she is teaching. however, her exams are harder than the lesson notes because the exam questions are more critical thinking and application. in-class we just learn definitions/concepts, so as long as you put in the work and study hard you should be okay!
She is the goat, overall pay attention and study for the tests. Online quizzes almost every week which aren't too bad. Professor King is a kind and caring person and wants to see you succeed in class.
Overall an easy class. She just reads off the slides which are posted, so if you're willing to look at those outside of class attendance isn't necessary. Kind of boring, I found myself working on other classes when I did go to class. If you study an easy A, if not an easy B.
All I can say about Dr. King is that she is the sweetest. She cares SO much about her students and she understands that college is stressful. She tries her best to make BUS 160 as easy as possible. TAKE HER; you won't regret it!
She is awesome, so nice. Attendance is optional, but class usually ends early anyways. Weekly quizzes and one assignment a week you can do with a group in class. Tests are very doable if you study. Very chill class, highly recommend.
Dr. King is so sweet and caring. Her class was clearly outlined, and as long as you go to class and take notes you will do well. The tests were kind of hard, but I got above a B on all of them with just an hour of studying. She always ends class early, and there are group assignments. There is an open note quiz each week, which also helps ur grade.
Class isn't too difficult, but you do have to study for tests because they are critical thinking based if you want an A. Grade compromises of quizzes, 4 tests, and some class assignments. For our class she let us do 1 test corrections that helped. Dr. King is super sweet and helpful so I highly recommend her!
A nice and caring professor. Like how she provided weekly assignments to cushion our grade, and had a free online textbook. The tests were long and the lectures were dry, but you don't need to attend class to pass. Overall an easy gen ed.
Dr. King was good for business 160 as a gened but it was not the most exciting class i have ever taken. Lectures are dry and she reads straight off the powerpoint. Tests are application based so you actually need to understand what is going on which can be harder than you might think. I would chose her for 160 again over the other options.
She is a really good professor who is passionate and interesting. The tests are the majority of your grade and as an anxious test taker I did not do well on the tests and those grades made up my final grade. As long as you pay attention and study you will do well! Good professor for gen ed.
Dr. King is an amazing teacher! The tests are completely off the McGraw Hill textbook SO BUY THAT ONE!! I 100% recommend taking her. She is engaging and really sweet. She really roots for you to do well. The tests are kinda hard because they are application based but if you do the readings and take some notes during the lecture you'll be ok.
Prof. King is such a nice lady, however she will not budge for extra credit. There are four tests which are all online on lockdown in class, no midterm, no final, and a quiz weekly on canvas. This is a very heavy weighted test taking class, so I don't recommend if you are not good at test taking.
Super easy class, take notes on the lectures and study them and you're set for the tests/quizzes. Dr. King usually lets the class out earlier than normal. There is a McGraw Hill Business textbook but it is not really necessary. She read off the powerpoints but the class was so easy that I didn't really care.
Professor King is an awesome professor. The material isn't hard, you just have to put a little time into studying and you'll be good to go. Definitely recommend taking her and this class.
Love her! The way she teaches makes me feel like I'm in high school again. I will say the tests will backstab your grade. Overall, it is an easy class to take as a critical thinking. Definitly would take her again.
I would 100% take her class again. She makes lectures enjoyable and seems to really care about her student's success. One of my favorite JMU professors.
loved her, you can tell that she cares. Tests are most of your grade, but if you go to class and take notes and study, you'll be fine. she gave 2 extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester, and she'll round your grade if you have good attendance. overall easy class if you put in effort
Professor King was amazing, her class is definitely an easy A!! The class has 4 online exams that are in person. She typically gives a weekly open note quiz and an easy assignment. My one piece of advice for this course is to use the test study guide that she posts. The study guide has every term and topic that is on the test, which get you an A.
Prof King is super sweet and loves to teach, but her exams are really difficult in the more recent years. She gives assignments each week to help increase your grade, which are usually done with a group. There are also some reading quizzes. Her lectures are honestly really boring but she really does care about her classes!
Professor King was amazing! She was nice and always willing to help and clearly explained everything. Her class does get boring but all your quizzes are online and you work in groups for every assignment. Her tests aren't hard but you can get a little tripped up in how she phrases things but long as you study you'll be fine.
One of the best professors, she is really into teaching and makes class time fun. 1 assignment per week with a group. If you pay attention in class or just look at the notes you'll be set for all the tests and quizzes.
A pretty good professor. There is one assignment per week with a table group. If you pay attention in class or just look at the notes you'll be set for all the quizzes. The tests are hard so study. Lecture is a little boring but stay engaged and you will be fine. Probably the best bus option.
when lecturing, she reads straight from the slides and provides no other information so no point to going besides attendance being mandatory. Lots of partner assignments that usually require 200 word responses before the class ends. Do Not Recommend Taking This Class.
TAKE HER!! I took her last semester and struggled a bit in the beginning (had a mental breakdown to her after exam 2) I struggle to focus and she noticed I wasn't getting as good of exam grades as my classmates, we talked about it and she was VERY accommodating! She wants her students to succeed and it shows, loved her and would take her again!!!
She was engaging though out the whole semester and there was a good chunk of homwork but nothing outrageous, could easily be done in 20 minutes. She does lectures through slides and they are almost word for word whats on the tests so just pay attention and take notes on those and the tests are easy.
She is a great professor and explains things well. There is short group work once a week with your table partners, it isn't hard, but make sure to attend class. Tests shouldn't be too much of a problem if you study the class notes. Quizzes are online and they make you get the questions correct before you finish, so it's an easy grade boost.
The tests are based on the slideshows she goes over, and you can get away with studying the night before if you attend the lectures. She is very nice and understanding, you can always go to her if you have a question. She randomly takes attendance when there is group work due, but she drops 3 of those grades. Overall would highly recommend.
She's the best. So easy and understanding. Take her
There is group work in this class so get ready for that. She is super understanding of kids disabilities and has really fun interactive lectures. Probably about 2 hw assignments per week. I would take her again if I had the chance.
Attendance not mandatory but she does in class group assignments so you have to go. Test scores were so bad that she got rid of the remaining 2 tests and did 3 quizzes instead. Test questions are worded like riddles and are basically set up for you to get the wrong answer. Gave us one extra credit opportunity. Nice woman, but not a very good prof.
Professor King is amazing. Standard lectures, but if you miss class you will miss tablework points and test information from what she says or writes on the board. Points help lessen the ticky-worded multiple-choice assessments. She is super nice and had extra credit. Helps your grade if you connect with her. Engage with the class for a good grade.
I definitely would suggest it. Tougher grader and studying is important for tests. Show up to class
I wouldn't take a business class unless it's your major. Business isn't as easy as it seems. Dr King is a great professor. She wants to see all her students pass the class. She gives good amounts of work. She's aware of the "activities" on campus so sometimes she'll cancel class. She did for us for Halloweekend and days after football games.
Very sweet. The readings were a lot but helpful. Her lectures were also helpful & she was good at reminding you what's important & will be on exams. There were 3 exams & no cumulative final. Homework assignments on Pearson but they never took that long. There was one group project but she gave us a lot of time to work on it and graded it easy.
Professor King was amazing! She is so sweet and does her best to help you get a good grade in the class. You can tell she loves what she does and is the best one to take Bus 160 with!!
Professor King's class is engaging, with lectures closely aligned to the tests. Attendance is mandatory, but group work and quizzes make up easy grade boosters. Unstuck AI was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.
My section of BUS160 was about marketing. She's a pretty energetic lecturer, but the lectures were still pretty boring. Exams are straight forward, mostly definition/scenario questions. She ends most classes with an easy group/table assignment (and most days ends class a few minutes early). Overall, a nice person and easy gen ed.
Prof King is very sweet, the class has a lot of info to cover, also 2 presentations are required
I loved this class! The class consisted of easy lectures that were posted on canvas and counted attendence sometimes. She canceled class often and at one point canceled Friday classes for the last month of the semester. tests were a little difficult but as long as you study the notes in class you will be fine. I would recommend for bus 160!!
Overall she is such a sweet teacher. I am not a bus major but had really hard time with her tests. The material seems like it is straight forward but you need to spend time studying it or else you will struggle a little. You also need to come to class because that is when she reviews and goes over important things. She does extra credit in class!!
Pretty easy overall, homework doesn't take much time and gives a lot of chances to boost your grade through attendance. Two mandatory presentations that don't end up taking much time but count for a good amount of the grade. Exams aren't too hard as long as you spend some time studying before and she posts all of the slides.
