She is just simply great.
wonderful math professor. makes the time and class go very fast. knows how to communicate well with students. excellent professor
Lindsey Fratessa is an excellent teacher who does a very good job of teaching a dull and painful subject, IE mathematics, and making it at least somewhat amusing. She's very fair to her students, but doesn't put up with a lot of BS... all in all, I'd recommend her to more or less anyone.
Fun Teacher. Really explains Math in English. I wouldn't have passed without her help!
Lindsey is a really nice teacher! Her style makes it easy for both students who need an English explanation of math AND those who like straight up numbers and symbols. Whether if you're better at tests or doing hw, go for her! She's very clear with each lesson, so hw is easy even if you've always hated math hw. Oh and she's also funny! :)
terrible class. too much homework to not all be collected and graded. overall a waste of time
I love Lindsey's class- she is totally helpful and makes the worst subject actually interesting. Kinda gross that you rate her rack- pretty sure she could kick your ass-mentally and physically.
Professor Lang is an ok teacher, she is very helpful when you need help, and willing to help you anytime you need it. Her test are a bit hard, especially in the later sections. She gave crazy ammounts of homework, and was a harsh grader for it also. Overall she's a average teacher, very nice tho.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. (It's true that she does assign homework every day and expects her students to know the material, but that's exactly the point, isn't it?)Anyhow, I think she's very fair and makes her expectations clear. Very approachable and knowlegeable, too. Her lessons are organized very well. The perfect prof. fo
Really easy (except her final which kills!)...I had an A the entire semester and did not understand her final at all!...yea, I got a B. But I would totally recommend this class cuz Lindsay is awesome and knows her stuff and how to teach. Shes probably the easiest teacher ever for Calc 2.
Amazing teacher, patient, and will take time to make sure you know the material. Be prepared to set aside tie for studying. Great class for those moving on to higher math, and she makes sure you know the material well. Quizzes are super easy. DO THE HOMEWORK!!! HIGHLY reccommended teacher. Best I've ever had.
Great teacher! She has a lot of homework but you will understand the material she is teaching, highly recommended!
Lindsey's a great teacher. She's willing to assist anyone who needs help, and in class she usually tries to explain topics in at least two or three different ways to appeal to different learners. There is a ton of homework, though, but if you do it all, you should be able to get the material. Tests will be easy if you study.
I love Lindsay, and I wish I could take 120 with her next semester but she's not teaching it. I feel that Lindsay worked hard to ensure the class understood the principals and that she was incredibly helpful thoughout the semester. If you suck at Math, Lindsay is there to help you suck less. Good Luck.
Lindsey is a great teacher. She is not the most patient person, and she doesn't take anyone's crap but she's one of the best teachers I've ever had. She really makes things clear. There is homework every night but I found that by doing the homework, I do really well on the tests which are about every two weeks. I reccomend her!
She makes things really clear. She's fun and wasn't really strict in my class. She makes jokes, not boring. She gives homework every night but isnt due till the next week. HW was easy, tests were easy..only took about 20 mins at the most to finish. I found the class to be extremely easy.
This is the teacher that changed my whole perspective on math. I am now a math major.
Let's face it, Math builds on itself. So ya gotta have some level of dicipline if you want to pass. Yes, there is a lot of hw., but I found the hw. helped to cement the understanding & the concepts. Even at Algebra I, after the first few weeks, you learn new concepts each class. You need a strong teacher to help you and that's Lindsey!
Lindsey is one of the best teachers I've ever had. For those of us who feel like we might as well be learning algebra for the first time, she is a godsend. She not only works problems out on the board but she explains the processes in plain english so you will remember how to do the problems when you get home. SHE'S THE BEST!
Best math teacher I have ever had. She really helps you figure out the problems. Your not in the dark in this class, her explanations help clarify everything you thought was confusing. I've always hated math, now I'm majoring in Architecture and learning that math isn't really that hard.
Best teacher ever. I'm not the brightest with math, and for the first time I actually felt like I understood what was going on. She makes time for your questions and is very clear in her instruction. If she taught every level of math I would take her class again and again.
Best Math teacher.. Take her if you need help understanding math!!
I hate math with a passion and im really horrible with it. I have never been good at it at all and thats why i am in a remedial math class. Lindsey is tied for the best math teacher i have ever had. The homework load was relatively light and she was cool about attendance. She explains everything in depth and will always help. Great teacher.
She is the best math teacher I've ever had. She is clear in her explanations and she is willing to help you whenever you go the her office at office hours. Her class is challenging that is what makes it fun. If you really want to learn calculus take her class but I warn you it will not be an easy A you have to earn it.
Mrs. Lang is a great teacher...she cares about her students. She's willing to help you as long as you're willing to ask for the help. I took her online class and I really enjoyed it.
Awesome instructor! If you have any questions or concerns, she is there willing to help & listen.Very friendly. She gives one-on-one time to her students because she wants them to succeed. This is my 2nd semester taking her class.I still feel the same even if I didnt like math. Taking her class is well worth the time and money spend.
By far the best math teacher I have had in a while. I loved the way she was able to explain what was going on and I was never afraid to ask questions because I knew she would always answer them.
seriously the best math teacher i have ever had. she explains things so clearly and writes everything on the board neatly. her organization makes math a million times easier and she is always willing to answer questions. the online hw is important in grading but doing it really helps you learn & do well on the tests. DEFINITELY recommend her!
Best. Math. Teacher. Ever. That's all you need to know. Her teaching style is honest and upfront. You are held accountable for yourself. Do the work and ask questions and you will do fine. Don't and you only hurt your chances of passing the class. Quizzes and exams are tough, so study! Homework is consistent but not terribly difficult.
She's an amazing teacher but she is also VERY hard. She gave us test problems that we had never seen before. Class was short so each test had only about 10 problems and each problem had 4 or 5 different topics and if you didn't know one topic you couldn't answer the problem.
I'm horrible at math, so was terrified of getting back into beginners algebra. DO NOT consider any other teacher...I was blessed to acquire Lindsay Lang. This class is hard, LOTS of work, but she is helpful, funny, and extremely fair. Can't say enough. Hate math, love her!
I took this class online during summer semester. I much rather would have taken a face to face class with her.Take her word when she says you need to devote A LOT of time to the class, she's not kidding. It's not an easy A, at least for online. I ended up having to drop the class as it was EXTREMELY demanding. She cool tho and wants you to succeed.
She is a good teacher. You will learn, she will help you, and you will probably be challenged. She is fair, funny, and available to help you after class. No reason to really write this because everyone else says the same thing. Don't you get it? Take her class!
Cool teacher, pretty chill. Shes very clear, and knows how to teach. Her class polices are simply bs. She gives you hw problems that are not in the back of the book nor in the manual at math lab. She will give you problems on tests that are doable, but not in the specified time limit that she gives on tests. Take her as a last resort, heavy demand.
She's very fair. Good teacher, great sense of humor.
I absolutely love Lindsey. I took her one of many classes this previous spring semester and learned so much! I have never had a better math instructor. She teaches clearly and writes plenty of notes. Always available for extra help in her office and she is HILARIOUS. Grades fairly and I actually liked going to class :) THANKS LINDSEY.
This was a vary hard class. All the homework was online WebAssign, which I did very well on. The tests were just very hard and I because of it I got a low grade in the course. I'm going to have to repeat the class. This is a VERY good teacher though, math is just difficult sometimes. This teacher will really cover everything and the book helps.
My 1st online course, at times the weekly assignments and quizzes would be a challenge, but as an instructor, she is very approachable, I'd recommend to meet wher in person for help over email for clarity, she gave us study guide worksheet for final which helped, would have preferred taking her class in person . Fun prof!
Mrs. Lang truly cares about her students and wants to see them reach their full potential. Her classes are very demanding classes and she requires a lot from you. She has good common sense, is strict but fair, firm but flexible and makes math class as fun as a math class can be. I would recommend this teacher to anyone who really wants to learn.
Lindsey is a great teacher if you are actually trying to learn! I have to give her credit, I knew next to nothing when going into this class and now I feel as if I could teach Math-120 to other students.. I didn't pass the class with an A, but I did get a B and I worked my butt off for it.. If you want a fun but tough class, sign up for this one!
I've taken online classes before and she's on my top three teacher recommendations for online courses. She responds quickly, is available during office hours, and is super helpful. She cracks a joke one and a while on test days and it seems to lighten the mood a bit lol
Exams are pretty difficult, but her lectures are amazing. I actually kept my grade at a solid 100% until half way through the semester (but eventually my slacking off dropped it to 90%). Make notes and do the homework on time and you'll pass easily. She gives amazing feedback, and always makes sure we understand it before moving on.
I took the self-paced math-090 with this professor, so I didn't get to experience any of her lecture-based classes, but what I did get to experience in this class was amazing. She really cares about each student, and she allowed us to address her by her first name, which I thought was pretty chill. Self paced classes are only hard if you don't try!
I took Lindsey for Trig (Math121). She made the class easier than it was meant to be. There are weekly assignments but it is all online which can be a bit annoying sometimes. Though when it comes to the tests it'll be a good practice tool. She doesn't take attendance, so people tend to skip which leads to them failing.
A very funny and lovely teacher! I feel very solid on my trig.
She is the sweetest prof ever, she's truly a real gem. I worked hard in this class and got a good grade and it was all thanks to her support. She's so awesome and encouraging, future students take good care of her. I'm now in Pre-Calc and I have the worst teacher ever, words can't express how much I miss her, & the organized & clear teaching method
One of the best math teachers I've had. She really explains the theory behind math. Not one of those "just memorize this" teachers. Usually one lesson due each week online, with a couple of written assignments. 3 quizzes, 3 tests, and final. We rarely used the book. If you get book questions, just take a photo of the book in the library.
This class is a little bit more on the work side as there are lessons do every week, but its not as redundant as other teachers. She simplifies everything and encourages you to ask questions. Personally, I thought trigonometry was more difficult, but she set up me perfectly!
This was by far the hardest class I've taken. I came to class everyday, spent 2-3 hours a day studying, yet I still ended up dropping the class. Lindsey is a decent prof but has extremely high expectations. I would avoid this class unless you have a light workload. Only 2 ppl ended up passing our class.
One of the harder teachers I've had at DVC. Her study guides do not have any practice problems they are basically a piece of paper that say know everything we covered. I am not a fan of her quiz/homework grading technique. She is really nice and willing to help you personally.
Very nice person but an extremely hard class. lessons r neat but her tests and quizzes are nothing like the homework and the questions are 10 TIMES HARDER. grades really hard on the tests and quizzes and study guides do not help Don't know anybody passing the class Hw barely counts either nice person but man her class is rough take lantzy if can
Lindsey is an awesome Calculus teacher. Her lectures are super clear, and she is always willing to help. Calculus is never going to be easy, and I worked my butt off in her class. But now I feel like I really get it, and my friend's from other classes are struggling way more than me in Calc 2.
Ms. Lang is a tough teacher that will not go out of her way to help. She corresponds mainly by email, if at all. Her class is extremely tests heavy, I would not take her class again. Mainly because I don't think she cares if her students pass or not. I was taken back and disappointed when she brought her child in and babysat while we took a test.
I took her for Calc1 and 2. She is a really intelligent professor that makes any difficult topic able to understand. She will answer any questions you have in class if you get stumped on it. I would take her for calc 3 if she was teaching it. Her class is challenging but you will come out knowing calc really well which is why I took her twice.
I hate math but Lindsey made it bearable. She taught our class in a way that made everyone feel like they could do it if they just really put put their mind to it. She explains things so clearly and made it ok to ask questions. Totally hilarious - broke up the monotony with funny stories. Wish she taught stat....
At first I didn't believe the other reviews but the class was bad enough that about 80% dropped. In hindsight, I should have switch session the instance I read what happened to her last Calculus class. I regret not taking the critical comments seriously and ended up taking this class.
My experience in Lindseys class was transformative. She provided amazing guided lectures, useful group activities, and plenty of opportunity to ask questions. I had never had to work that hard before, but I now expect more from myself and from my instructors. If you want to learn, Lindsey is the best choice.
The first day was so-so for me but I notice that our class average is pretty low after a few exams. One other thing to keep in mind is that homework is online so purchase of an access code is pricey $100.
Calc 101 with her was the worst class of my entire year. Hard class, and lectures didn't add much for me beyond the textbook. On top of that, I hated that she made students copy their homework problems word by word for a 10 minute quiz so that it would be faster for her to grade hw without having to search for the problem.
I find her lectures very hard to follow. She often makes mistakes or confuses herself and some went uncorrected. Pacing is on the slower side for me but class meetings happens 4 days a week, exams are harder than what I'd expect from lectures and hw.
I've taken Lindsey Lang 2 semesters now for Math120SP and Math135SP. Obviously you need to take responsibility to learn the material, but there is literally never a moment where Prof Lang is too busy to answer questions. She's extremely clear in her directions and superb at explaining things in a way that makes sense.
Best math teacher on the planet. Literally would be so lost without her excellent approach to teaching. AWESOME.
Best math teacher at DVC. Theres no situation where shes too busy to help. Theres literally no situation where she is too busy to help students succeed or answer questions. The negative reviews are coming from one kid whos salty they didn't study.
Doing practice sheet and homework did not help me grasp the concept. I learned everything through YouTube video and that some how pull my grade up. I wish I had another class.
To be honest, it wasn't a great class, most of my classmates dropped. Her lecture consist mostly reading and doing excises off her computer. But my greatest disappointment was how she bring her kid into class regularly. It made it very hard to stick out and ask question or approach her office hours for personal advice with her kid watching.
ONLINE CALC FOR BUS- Study guides consist of "know everything." Difficult in class tests with trick questions. Pointless practice exams. Online HW is not reflective of what to prepare for on exams. Better luck researching youtube videos to grasp concepts inside out. Does not want students to succeed. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
I don't think she was very clear with expectations. Class was pretty light-harted until the midterms, which was not like lectures and what I'd expected. Afterwards, many people dropped. I think this class was *harder than necessary.
I find lectures pretty mechanical and to the book. Most test questions are off of the book with a bit of every topic, they are pretty easy if you know the concepts from high school. I don't think I got much from her class.
I learned everything on my own with this class. If you need guidance, foundation, or needed examples to be explained and worked out in details, I wouldn't recommend taking her as assignment could be frustrating sometime.
This is a very hard class for me. I worked my ass off just to not failed. I don't think lectures help me understand the material well enough to do homework and prepare me for the test. Test are harder than lectures and there's no curving even if class average is 50-60%. Not for everyone.
I thought her class was great. She really spent a lot of time trying to help her students succeed. Lectures were really helpful.
Far and away the most well organized lectures I've ever had. Really nice. Helpful. Cares about you. You're gonna love her.
Lindsey's online class was really well organized. She had study guides, powerpoints, and videos for all the sections we covered. Every time I emailed her questions, she got back to me super quick and was really helpful. Even better, when I went to office hours, she cleared up all my questions - made me wish I could have her for lecture.
Now that I have had 3 different Calculus teachers, I can say with total confidence that Lindsey is a true gem. Calculus is super hard, and she makes you do the work and show that you really understand it, but she supports you and helps you the whole way. Down to earth, funny, smart, caring. Only way to go wrong is to not put in the time to learn
I have never made it through Algebra before. It's boring and pointless - that is, until I took Lindsey's class. She is so awesome - she really inspires her students to learn and do the best they can. Classtime was never boring and her lectures were so clear. I worked really hard, but math never made sense before I met Lindsey. Taking her again
This Professor is SO AWESOME! Even though it was a self-pace, she would make herself available when ever she was needed. She's straight to the point and she puts in a comfortable environment. She'll anything possible in making sure her students are successful because she's knows Math isn't always for everyone.
The online class for pre-calc, not math 192, it was 191. Such a torture if you aren't good at math, short-term class, tons of things, that's ok, but this professor definitely does nothing to help you. DON'T TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS, I don't know how well she teaches in person but online is absolutely a NO. I had to drop out with a W.
Summer classes are no joke. Super fast, tons of work in 6 weeks, not for the faint hearted. I really liked the program we used (Knewton) and everytime I got stuck, she was there to help me. She even emailed me videos she had made just to answer my questions!
I have taken a bunch of online classes, and this one was awesome. The homework had lots of built in help, and when that wasn't enough, Lang responded to my questions right away. Tests were not easy but not terrible.
She is super helpful. I never ask for help, but when I told her that I wasn't able to do a section, she extended it for me. She gives a couple of extensions, and she is easy to meet outside of class, and she answers emails. She wants her students to pass, and you can tell she cares when you talk to her. She is one of my fave math teachers I've had.
Lindsey is easily the best teacher I've ever had at dvc, this is my second time taking her and I hope to take her for every single math class. Her lectures and schedule follow a pattern that is great once you get into the swing of things. I understand every single thing she's ever taught me, I keep waiting for math to be hard but she makes it easy.
This is my second time taking one of Professor Lang's classes, and she's great. She really teaches stuff so that we understand it and why it works. But I can't stand the online program Knewton Alta; there's a huge gap in difficulty between its examples and problems. Its not a good fit for this class and I think she could have done better.
Lindsay Lang is one of the best math professors I've ever had! If you're looking for a professor who will really take the time to make sure you understand the matieral then Lindsay is your girl. She doesn't use Web Assign or Knewton just your old fashioned textbook. She even makes these lecture notes for you that simplify what the book says!
Professor Lang is an awesome teacher, definetly the best math teacher at DVC. She is very caring and understands her stundents well. I took her twice and never regreded my decision. She provides great study guides and pratice probelms that help you with preperations for the exams. TAKE HER!!
I have taken six or seven math classes in the last few years, and Professor Lang is one of the best. About half way through the semester the virus shut down our class, but she did not miss a beat. We switched to Zoom and the class actually got better. We were able to do group office hours. Overall, it was a great experience. Highly recommended.
I took this class spring semester where we transitioned to online during the pandemic. The class was OK, shes a nice prof that truly wants you to learn but her teaching style is not the best. She skips over steps where you wonder yourself how she got that answer. She does group quizzes aswell.
If you have to/want to take Calc 1, Lang is a solid choice as a professor. The homework and tests are not easy, but she's there to help you through them. Her teaching style allows you to disseminate the information easily, but truly understanding it requires extensive homework & self-study outside of class. Also funny, but that's less important.
She may be wonderful in person, but online she's terrible. If you're not mathematically inclined - have fun teaching yourself the material. It's too bad she uses OTHER PEOPLE'S videos as the closest thing to lecture rather than prioritizing her student's learning and success by creating engaging material for class as other profs have done.
Ms. Lindsey is simply a gem. I am taking her online College Algebra class, and she is awesome! She has notes to lead us through the textbook, videos to help us learn, and she is so helpful in office hours. The class isn't easy, I mean it's math!!! But, Lindsey will help you through if you just do your part.
Lindsey is the best math teacher I have ever had. She is totally willing to help you anytime, and super understanding if you need extra time or have other stuff going on. Just take her class.
She doesn't teach anything only posts videos from Knewton. she asks you to describe how to solve problems in "words" which I have never ever heard in my entire life of academic education. doesn't give extra credit for anything. always cancelled her student hours and never was really helpful. Never take this class horrible!!!!!!
Lindsey's class was really well organized, especially since there was no Zoom sessions. She had guided notes for every lesson, which totally helped me out big time. Homework was done on Knewton, which is a pretty cool system. Tests were pretty straight forward, there's a fun extra credit question on every one. Half our final was a take home.
Lindsey is really sweet and cares about her students. I would say that even though she gives a lot of homework she really has her students' best interest in mind. She takes into account that her students have other responsibilities outside of their academics. She is a really good person to ask for advice about anything really.
Horrible class and instructor Professor Lang doesnt teach rather just posts videos from Knewton and canceled almost half of her student hours last semester and is a very very tough grader lots of homework. She said she understood that students have other responsibilities other than college but actually she didnt horrible class
Math is really a pain to learn online. Lindsey's class was super well organized, which I so appreciated. Guided notes for every section, videos to help you learn the tough stuff, and there to help me when I asked. She did cancel a couple of office hours, but it's a pandemic, so I get it.
Wow! I am 5 weeks into my Calculus class, and Lindsey is just awesome. She is great at explaining, super organized, and so willing to help. I don't think I've ever had a teacher who clearly cares so much.
I loved this class. Lindsey is such a great teacher. She really gets what students are going through and totally works with us. Extra time on assignments, made sure we got all the concepts. Her notes are just awesome.
I took calc in high school and what a difference teacher makes. Lindsey was so much better than any math teacher I've had. She just explains stuff and stops to answer all our questions and listens to us. I mean it's a lot of work and hard but it's calculus so what do expect. Every time I needed help she was there and she's pretty funny too.
I'm at the end of calc 2 right now with a different teacher, I had Lindsey for Calc1 last semester. I guess I didn't realize at the time how much difference a teacher makes. Lindsey was so clear in how she taught the material and patient with all of us in her class. She was always happy to be there and to help us with whatever we needed.
Professor Lang is one of the few instructors in the math building that I would genuinely recommend for students pursuing a career in STEM. If you are planning to actually learn any Calculus, then take her class. If you aren't, then take a math instructor who dishes out As without teaching anything.
Without a doubt, Ms. Lang is the best math teacher I've had by far. She really cares about your education and wants you to succeed. Her lectures are easy to understand and the work schedule is sorted out for the whole semester. She's also excited to teach and funny which makes class and lecture less boring. Very accessible outside of class.
Could retake any test question for full credit, used derivita and genuinely taught well, greatest math instructor ever
Prof. Lang is funny and smart. She knows how to teach and uses lecture outlines which were great. You can redo test and quiz problems if you got them wrong for full credit. Homework is reasonable, done through derivita with unlimited attempts and instant grading. She allows a page of notes on the final as well. Overall a super kind and sharp person
Professor Lang is a GREAT professor. I genuinely love the way she teaches, it keeps me motivated to do well in class and participate in all the problems. She really knows her stuff when it comes to math (she's also entertaining).
She is simply a fantastic professor. She really helped me understand trigonometry and not just memorize things like the unit circle. If you are considering taking this professor, I encourage you not to hesitate any further and go for it! You can also retake any assessment you want over and over until you arrive at a score you are satisfied with.
I am so glad I'm in Lindsey's class. Trig is hard and I kinda suck at math, so the extra time each week to learn all the stuff we don't remember is saving me. Lindsey is funny and she totally cares about her students. She takes a ton of time to help us and she never makes me feel like I'm asking a dumb question. She's awesome. Take her class.
Some may benefit from her teaching style, but being in the extra support class was terrible. The teaching was excruciatingly slow over a 3 hour period. Not to mention that the knewton assignments usually don't line up with how she teaches the material in class. I spent more time being frustrated over the assignments than anything else.
Professor Lang has a wonderful teaching style. She's one of the best math professors I've ever had. She makes classes funny and grades fairly. Would take again!
There's 5 exams throughout the semester, 1 every 3 weeks. Only exam scores count towards your final grade, so if you have test anxiety, do not take her. Homework is optional & doesn't count towards your grade. You can only to fix 2 test questions per week, so if you fail a 20 q test, good luck. Dropped the class to save my 4.0 GPA. Don't take her.
Very caring and funny prof but does not allow any cheat sheets on the exams which sucks because it's really hard to master so much material in such a short amount of time... If you're not the best at math and are just trying to fulfill transfer requirements like me, this professor is not right for you.
Although in theory the class wasn't difficult, however, the structure of the class kind of sucks, and there isn't much leeway when it comes to exams, if you prefer taking note cards to exams and more hands on assignments, this class isn't for you.
If you want to go through the motions, look elsewhere. If you want to actually learn Calculus, she's top notch.
Lindsey is a good professor but her grading system was roughhhh. Spend the 10 hours/ week to study and you will most definitely get an A. If you reach out, she will help you. You need to be super meticulous with your answers on the exams. Even a minor calculation error will prevent you from a "mastery". Grades are determined by exams. Never again.
just no absolutely not
This Professor has worked so hard. If you need help she will help you rather in class or out of class. She understands if you need help or if you have a family thing, Yes this is a very hard class and can be very difficult for most people but she grades reasonably and will help explain if things are wrong. I hope I get her again! :)
Lindsey is amazing. Of the roughly 50 exam questions we had throughout this course, we had an opportunity to retry over half of them, which is something I've NEVER had in a class before. If you just make a minor mistake you still get full credit. The system is great for students and she works so hard for everybody. I'm so glad I took this class!!
This professor has been so kind and can help you almost whenever. From the moments of thinking in class to the fun days of studying this professor has explained things so well. She understands the topics and grades easily. She is so funny and almost never mean. I just don't understand how anyone would ever not like her! I hope to get her again!
don't take her. grading system is very tough. 90% OF THE CLASS DROPPED by the last test. very hard grader and you will have to study for at least 10 hrs a week. take a regular calc class instead with a normal grading system. doing bad on one test can mess you up even if you ace the rest.
Summer online class: she has notes and videos that she created for every single topic. SUPER clear explanations. Very willing to help. 40 exam problems over the term, and you can reattempt 20 of them. If you make a small error, you can just revise the problem for full credit.
She grades on mastery, there are no points. You either get it right or you have to fix your small mistake or retry a similar problem. Focused me on learning the concepts, which is the point. But also pointed out my math weaknesses, so be prepared to spend time to learn and learn well.
I had Lindsey Lang SU24 and I have never met a professor like this before. The grading is different, the notes are different, and the tests are different. She grades off of successful, revise, and reattempt on TESTS. Not a normal grading scale, but imo it's way better. She is great at explaining complex ideas, and just all around she is an A+ prof.
I took this class in the summer. Interesting grading system, allows students to retest/revise missed test questions for full credit, essentially allowing students to "grind" their way up to a desired grade (aside from the final.) Online recorded lectures and the accompanying notes were great and ideal for reviewing course content.
I suck at math. I've always been blown off by my math teachers - they just get impatient or give up on me. Lindsey helped me with every question I had and always did it smiling and patient. I barely passed this class, but I don't think I would have had a chance without her as my teacher.
Lindsey has a tough grading system, but it really pushes you to master the concepts. While challenging, her clear explanations and willingness to help make it worthwhile. I found unstuck study super helpful for practice and exam prep.
Why are you checking the rating?? Take her class immediately, I promise you won't regret it. Lindsey was one of the most enthusiastic professors I've took at DVC and you can talk to her about anything. Her grading system will give you the opportunity to succeed in that class 100%, but it is all up to you whether or not you want to put in the effort
This professor is good in theory, but having a final that is deemed as “the hardest test you've ever taken” with the entire grade resting on it via her insane grading system (lowest score out of four groups: participation, homework, midterms and the final is final grade) is basically a death sentence for anyone taking. Would not recommend.
Professor Lindsey's class gave me the opportunity to actually learn instead of just passing over material in one try. She works closely with each student and gives us numerous learning opportunitities that help us improve. Her teaching methods benefit everyone in the classroom. You have to work for a good grade, but it's worth the effort.
I really liked Lindsey's class. She's very knowledgeable, and she's also super good at explaining difficult math stuff in easy to understand ways. She was always willing to help me - during class, in office hours, and when I emailed her questions. She really cares about her students learning, not just showing up and punching a clock.
Lindsey is great. She grades in an innovative “mastery” based method. Although this can be a bit intimidating at first, you soon realize you have almost unlimited opportunities to make up for missed questions. A great model for actually learning the material instead of just testing if you've memorized what you need to for any particular test.
Professor Lang is a very caring person who is passionate about what she does. My only gripe with her is that she doesn't allow ANY notecards on her exams, which forces you to memorize everything when there is already a boat load of material to remember. No extra credit, no exam retake, no curving. Prepare to work your butt off for this course.
Lindsey's class taught me so much and not just about math. I don't think I really knew how study and actually learn math before I just did problems and hoped for the best and it got me through. She has high standards and you have to work hard but you'll learn and understand more than ever before. If that's for you take her class. If your lazy don't
AMAZING PROFESSOR!! Not only cares about how you are in the class but also how you are as a person. The classes are made to help you and she gives lots of time to be able to help you. The quizzes are based off of the homework and while the homework can get repetitive its still super helpful. Highly recommend.
This course required a lot of reading and studying on your own, I spent about 10 hours a week studying at least. She does not offer extra credit, grade curving, or note cards on exams besides on the final. DO NOT TAKE THIS ONLINE! It is nearly impossible to pass this class with no lectures and only exams in person. 80% of my class dropped.
