Great teacher. Have no problem with quiz given before covered in class. IT means you have to read and be prepared. I like writing and this course allowed me to do that
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! RUNNNN!!!!!! She is a history nut and expects you to know every minor detail about every single event and life history of every major name from the indians to george washington!
Mrs. Light was very nice to everyone and actually wanted to share her knowledge. She would give quizzes from the book material so you were expected to read that. On tests, there would be material from the book, her lectures, and occasionally the videos we watched (which was sometimes a whole class). The hardest thing we did was write a paper!
Excellent Teacher!
My first class in 30 years. I started here on a recommendation. What I read worried me. She comes across tough, then she softens up and tones down. She is accessible and open. She is helpful and seems to strive ways to offer extra credit. Some quizzes were free, sometimes she gave alerts to exam answers. Ultimately, I enjoyed the class for an A.
Only source of information is the textbook; no insights, no power points, nothing. I can't help but get the sense that everything was structured to make you do poorly rather than educate. Trick questions, unrealistic/vague/confusing deadlines, test questions on material not covered, and no correspondence from the instructor. I regret this majorly.
I would not recommend taking this teacher. There are no lectures or power points just read the book and take the test. She gives quizzes every week that are 5 questions and 5 minutes long. You have to write a two page essay every time you have an exam. The final exam is comprehensive so study hard.
DO NOT TAKE HER! if and only if you are NOT good at writing 2 page essays on spot for a test. She would let you prewrite them but would NOT let you bring your prewritten essay to turn in with your test. On the days for quizzes and tests she wants you to be in class 10 mins early. Other than that she is a very GREAT teacher and loves what she does.
Took her online. Any email that I sent her was answered quickly and she seemed very nice. There is a lot of reading and she provides videos to guide you through the course. JUST READ what you are supposed to read and you will do just fine.
This was my first online class, and it was a good experience. Very responsive and was very hepful. Would recommend and take her again.
Not having done history in such a long time, I thought that HIST 1301 would be the end of me. She comes out like a seriously tough teacher and the first time she spoke I was about ready to drop her class, but I endured and little by little she made history interesting and pretty fun to learn. Today I love history and its all thanks to her.
She's a great teacher that's passionate about History. Class participation is a must. To those who are complaining about this course, YOU'RE IN COLLEGE. THIS ISN'T MIDDLE SCHOOL WHERE THE TEACHER HOLDS YOUR HAND!!!. She's not going to just give you an A!!!
She's amazing at her job.. And she's beautiful too
Professor Light is awesome. Yes, you have to go to class. Yes, there is a quiz for every chapter. Quizzes are 5-10 questions and not hard. Tests are a bit harder. There are 4, but she dropped the lowest. She's cute and super passionate about her job. Her lectures are awesome. If you enjoy history at all, take Lindsey Light. I took her for 1302 too.
Professor Light is very passionate about history and about her students. She's lecture heavy, but as long as you pay attention you'll do well. 5 question quiz after every chapter of the book, but she goes over the questions afterwards and let's you argue your answers to get points back. She strongly wishes for her students to succeed.
Really loves what she teaches, Always on time, big talker, notes are simple to take for test and exam, if you read you'll pass easily. great professor took her both for 1301 and 1302.
Professor Light is very passionate about history and seeing her students succeed. She gives a clear study guide for every chapter. The quizzes are super easy and the tests are not too difficult if you read and use the study guide. It is a lot of reading but hey, this is college!
Light is very special about her expectations and grading criteria. There are several quizzes and 5 exams. Lowest exam grade and 2 lowest quiz grades are dropped. If you get a wrong answer on a quiz but can argue why you're correct then she'll usually give extra credit points.
Ms. Light is an amazing teacher!!!! She has the passion for history and is not bias to her own point of view. Reading is somewhat heavy from the textbook, but it is really easy. 10/10 would take her again!
What she goes over in class, what she wants you to read & whats on the quizzes is literally 3 different things. Whenever you are reviewing for the test thats happening next class, write the notes she says about the review because its literally whats on the test. Shes an okay teacher. Just not my teaching style. If you like group stuff, take her
You have to read, attend all classes, take notes, and study study study. I struggles to get a grasp on what to learn that would be on quiz and test. I enjoyed her lectures. They get boring sometimes but she is very passionate about History and it made it easy to listen too. Each test has an essay answer but she gives you the prompt well before test
As long as you read the chapters before class you'll be alright. There's quizzes at least once a week so make sure your prepared. She does offer extra credit and drops your lowest test and quiz grade so that's a bonus
She really cares about her students if you think your going to not pass DO NOT DROP!!!!!! talk too her first she is super sweet and very kind she will talk your head off but at the end she will help you understand the lesson she has a lot of quiz but they are to help you at the end i love her i wish she was a government teacher
Shes very understanding and kind hearted
Very good teacher. She grades on merits. Extra credits are available. Essay questions is assigned a head of time a student can get full points if penn down good thesis, introduction , three body paragraph and conclusion.
Easy going professor. There's lots of quizzes, but she tells you what to study for so you only pin point those certain subjects. Test are pretty easy as well. As long as you read and show up to class , you'll pass the class.
Great professor. Do the work youll pass. Quizzes are somewhat not on quizlet. She drops lowest grade. Easy A of B ....
I took this class online in the Summer. It is very fast pace, and you have a lot of reading. She gives you 12 quizzes, 4 exams and 4 essays. If you do the work, you get the grade. The only thing I didn't like was that she said she would drop 2 of the lowest quiz grades and one low exam grade, and neither were done.
She cares! She really truly, genuinely care about us. Very knowledgeable, a great historian. Sweet as pie and a joy to be around first thing in the morning.
She is absolutely amazing! Im taking her for 1302 because she was so great. If you pay attention and do your work, its impossible to fail. AMAZING!!!
Miss light is an amazing professor. She cares so much for her students and makes sure your on the right track, shes always just an email away and she is always open to talk to you and make sure you understand the class. Wish i could take her for 1302 but her classes filled up so quick :(
Professor Light is overall a great and caring professor. Yes it does take a lot reading and studying for her quizzes and exams, but just as long as you pay attention to her lectures and read the chapters, it should be an easy A.
Professor Light is a great professor. She usually gives at most 2 quizzes per week and gives 3 Unit test. She drops the lowest test grade (even the final) and quiz. She hands out quizzes at the first 5 minutes of class, so it would behoove of you to not be late. She is clear on what is going to be on the test and quizzes and are usually easy.
Prof light was so much fun and easy and you do have to purchase the book but i didnt really use it. There were exams and quizzes like every week that were like 5 questions long and they were pretty easy. I would take her again
I took 1302 this past summer from Ms. Light. She keeps you involved in class and she makes it enjoyable. My favorite lectures were over WW2 and the Civil Rights Movement. I like that she made us work do multiple in-class group presentations. She also brings doughnuts :-) She really is a great professor. I recommend taking from her!
She honestly cares about your grades! There are lots of extra credit opportunities and group projects. Also, there are 12 quizzes, 3 exams, and a final, obviously. She drops 2 quizzes and one of the exams or final.
Miss Light is awesome and a very caring professor! You do have to work for your grade but she helps you out in any way she can. I took her for HIST1301 and HIST1302. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a Extraordinary history professor that listens and is always willing to answer any questions. Truly enjoyed history class!!
She was great I took her for history 2 and at first was a bit dubious of the workload but it actually ended up being super easy. She also makes amazing reviews for the tests that are super thorough. 10/10
Professor Lights class was great! She is passionate about history, organizes her class well, grades in a timely manner, and is gives you helpful feedback. You haft work for your grade, but it will be worth it. I took HIST 1301 & HIST 1302 with her. You will get a lot out of the class!
I took her HIST1301 class online. I have always struggled with history classes, but she made it so easy to understand, and had the same routine every week. One quiz per week, and 3 tests throughout the semester. She drops the lowest test grade and 2 lowest quiz grades. I will be taking her HIST1302 class in the future.
I personally did not enjoy taking this class online, maybe if I had of taken her in person I would have gotten a better grade. All she requires you do to do is read and take a 5 question quiz, the questions are trick questions and has nothing to do with what you studied.
I took Professor Lights HIST 1301 this semester, and her class was amazing! Students have a few assignments each week. Reading the textbook, listening to video lectures, and completing chapter quizzes She also provides us with helpful videos, and she gives great reviews for each exam! If you need to take HIST 1301- take it with her!
Professor Lights class was amazing! She is passionate about history, and she cares so much for her students! She provides you with video lectures, study videos, and power point presentations. She was always available to help me, and she provided helpful feedback. Take Professor Light for U.S. History!
I took both HIST 1301 & 1302 with Professor Light, and she is wonderful! We all know that this is a difficult time, and I had to make some adjustments regarding my family. She completely understood. She allowed me to drop my 2 lowest quiz grades and lowest exam grade. She understands that unexpected events occur. Thank you, Miss Light
I took HIST 1302 with Miss Light, and her class was great! 12 quizzes (you get to drop 2 lowest), 4 exams (you get to drop Lowest), great lectures, and great reviews I especially enjoyed her lecture over the Industrial Revolution, Civil Rights Movement, and the Nixon Administration! You will love her class!
I took HIST 1302 with Professor Light, and I loved her class! She is sweet, caring, and has her students best interest at heart! If you are struggling with the class, reach out to her! She will get you back on track.
I took HIST 1301 with Miss Light last semester, and I am taking HIST 1302 with her this semester. She provides a review video for each quiz and exam. She offers extra credit, organizes her class well, and provides you with helpful multi-media resources. I enjoyed her lectures. You can tell she is passionate about history and teaching.
If you are looking to take HIST 1301 or 1302, you need to take it with Miss Light. She cares for her students and is happy to provide you with detailed feedback on your essays. 12 quizzes- You get to drop your 2 lowest. 4 exams - You get to drop your lowest. You must be willing to work for your grade, and she is passionate about history.
I took Professor Light for HIST 1301 this semester, and her class was great! Her class is well organized, and she gives each student an extra credit opportunity! She also posts great review videos!
I took History 1302 with Professor Light, and I enjoyed taking her class! Well organized, responds quickly to emails, helpful video lectures, and cares for her students!
So incredibly kind and caring. Each test was multiple choice but also included an essay. Essays were easy enough as long as you read the material and work on it ahead of time. She is easy to contact and very understanding. Lectures are a little dry, but overall she was great.
Professor Light is so sweet and caring. I got COVID right before the end of the semester and she was super understanding and gave me an extension on an exam. She is a huge history buff and you can tell just by watching her lectures. The video reviews for each exam were extremely helpful and she doesn't grade the essays too harshly. 10/10 Person.
I took HIST 1301 & 1302 with Professor Light, and I enjoyed both! She is so sweet and caring. Read the chapters, watch the videos, and prepare your essays before hand.
I took Miss Lights HIST 1301 class this summer, and I loved every minute of it! She provides helpful study videos and lecture videos, and she provides helpful (very detailed) feedback on your essays! Be sure to read the textbook and work on ( and SAVE) your essay before you begin each exam!! She is also very organized.
Very understanding, great lectures, easy to absorb the material. She is also a very understanding teacher with technical difficulties. Take her if she's available I'm taking her second part to US history.
she's a great professor. Overall an easy US history class. She provides material to study and if you study it then its an easy A.
She was a great Professor. Super sweet and was easy to get in contact with. Works with you and knows understands life can happen. There were about 3 quizzes a week that were 5-10 questions. NOT PROCTORED. 3 big exams that were 20Q + essay.
Miss Light is amazing! Took 8 week class: about 3 5-question quizzes/week, 4 exams total (you drop lowest) & 3 essays that were part of the exams. Gives SUPER SUPER helpful review videos & summarizes material on upcoming quizzes at beginning of every class. Shes caring and understanding, well spoken, & I actually learned despite it being an easy A.
I enjoyed taking Professor Light's HIST 1302 class this semester. Her class is very organized, and she provides very detailed review videos for each quiz and exam. She lets you drop your 2 lowest quiz grades and lowest exam grade. She truly cares about her students, and I highly recommend taking her class!
Professor Light not only has the most interesting subject, but she’s a great teacher with a great personality. Highly recommend!
She is by far the best professor that I've ever been instructed by. She is outrageously caring and understanding, two of the most important qualities to have as a professor. Especially teaching highschool students during these challenging times. I absolutely love her and admire how consistent she is with her students!
Took her HIST 1301 online she does reviews of all her tests. 13 quizzes, 2 short answer essays, 3 UNIT exams. Each quiz is 5 minutes/ 5 multiple choice. UNIT exams are 20 minutes/ 20 multiple choice. Short essays it does have to be full MLA so definitely dont wait till the last second to work on it. Im taking her for Summer 1302! Great Teacher!
I took Professor Light's HIST 1301 class last semester and I am taking HIST 1302 with her this semester. She is the best professor that I have had since I stared at TCC! She sincerely cares about her students, and she is very PASSIONATE ABOUT HISTORY! Great reviews, gives helpful feedback, amazing lectures, organized, and overall a great person!
My favorite History teacher ever. I hated history before taking her class, but she definitely change that view for me. There is a total of 12 short quizzes, 3 exams, 1 final. ALL COMPREHENSIVE!! Take notes and watch her videos they help tremendously! She offers one time 20+ extra points which is a whole letter grade! Take her 10/10 will not regret.
I enjoyed taking both HIST 1301 & 1302 with Professor Light! 2 Short Essays, 12 Quizzes, & 4 Exams Plus, you get to drop your 2 lowest quiz grades and lowest exam grade. If you put in the work, you will do great! She loves history, cares about her students, gives helpful feedback, great lectures - especially for WWII.
Miss. Light was so understanding 12 quizzes, 2 two page essays, 3 exams, and 1 final. Miss.Light was by far the best professor ever. (She also let's you drop one of your lowest grade) She made history simple and not over complicated like other professors do. Take her class, you won't regret it!
Professor Light was so nice, caring and understanding. Her class was composed of 12 quizzes, 4 exams, and 2 papers. She tries to find ways to offer extra credit. As long as you pay attention to what she says and the quizzes, you should be good. At the end she drops the lowest exam grade and a couple low quiz grades.
Professor Light is awesome. The class consists of 12 quizzes (5 questions) and 3 unit exams (20 questions) and the final which is 50 questions, all are very easy the exams are just like the quizzes. There are only 2 short answer essays which are very easy. BE SURE TO READ THE DIRECTIONS. This class is very easy, there's no way anyone should fail.
Professor Light was amazing in all her guidance in helping achieve the grade desired! Her powerpoints and reviews for the quiz/test are sooooo helpful! She is very responsive to emails and will help to the best that she can! I would recommend her to anyone and everyone! Going to miss taking this course learned so much!
I took HIST 1302 with Professor Light this summer and I enjoyed every minute! I wish that I would have taken HIST 1301 with her as well. 12 chapter quizzes, 4 exams, and 2 discussion boards She is very understanding, and she truly cares about her students. Take her for U.S. History!
I had her for 1301 and 1302 and was amazed by how much she cared for what she was teaching and her students. Hands down the best professor I have ever had. The class itself isn't hard although there are group projects so introverts beware. All around a really good way to learn a little about history with a passionate and knowledgeable teacher!
ms light class is so easy and she doesnt give homework and she is very patient and understanding.
I took Professor Light's HIST 1301 in Fall 2022, and I enjoyed everything about her class! Writing is difficult for me, and she took time each week to review my work and provide me with helpful feedback. She is very passionate about history, and she truly cares about her student's success!
Easy class
I took HIST 1301 with Professor Light over the winter break, and I enjoyed her class! 3 Unit Exams, 1 Final Exam, 10 Quizzes, and a few Discussion Boards You are required to read the textbook, and she expects you to listen to the lecture videos and review videos. All in all, I loved her class, and I now have a greater appreciation for History!
Amazing professor class is easy and the small quizzes we have for each chapter read helps with future exams. She makes history enjoyable and very understanding with everything she says it helps with remembering for exams and her study list for exams are straight to the point so it helps a lot to prepare for exams.
I took both HIST 1301 and 1302 with Professor Light. Her lectures are great and she is very very passionate about history. You will love her class!
I enjoyed this class. Easy to follow if you are willing to put the time in.
Online class so didn't interact with the professor. Easy to follow class. Each chapter has a short 5 question quiz after, that is super easy if you read and/or use your online resources. Not proctored. Interesting read, I learned a lot about American History in a short amount of time. The test questions are the same as the quiz questions.
Took her online in the summer. It was a lot of work in a short time. She was amazing and didn't make it seem overwhelming
Get class and professor. Nothing proctored. quizzes correspond with textbook. Learned a lot, Easy A
I took US History I & II with Professor Light, and she is by far the best professor I have had at TCC! She is passionate about history and cares about your success. I was so inspired by her classes, that I have changed my degree to history!
I loved professor light so much. Everything was super easy, she was so kind and respectful. Nothing is proctored which gives me more respect for her. She has her lectures online on YouTube, and the book is super easy to read and informative. i took her history 1301 and 1302, she was that good. i even took a 8 week class which was a breeze.
I took Professor Lights History II class this semester, and I loved every bit of it! Organized class & great lecture videos No stress & an enjoyable class Enroll in her classes early, cause they fill up real fast!
Professor Light was very quick to respond with any questions I had. She also sent out reminders about assignments close to due dates. She was very polite and sweet when I spoke with her. For her course, there is a lot of reading and studying, but only one quiz with 5 questions every week or so. WORTH IT!!
I really enjoyed taking this class, everything was so much easier to understand than other classes. I really like that there is not so many assignments where you get so stressed about compared to other classes. Super sweet professor who will be there for you if you need it. I recommend History with this professor.
SHe makes reviews exams that help many people study for their exams. I learned a lot from she and she really helps you understand the content while giving you a chance to get a good grade. The best. TAKE HER.
For the most part she's chill and understands as a student. Although her class is just a tad out-dated and needs to be more friendly to the common student. Some of us don't have to read the textbook all the time and thats probably what you need to do to even make an A. for the most part her class is easy, but just some things in her class, too much
Professing Light is the best teacher that I have had at tcc! She expects you to be prepared and do well on your work. Attendance is important. She cares so much for her students. She gives good lectures, and she will answer any questions you have over the material. Her class is not stressful, and I always felt understood and respected. Take her!
Before, I was not a fan of history. I struggled with the amount of information and remembering dates and names. I also didn't get why it was important. I took both history classes with miss Light, and she changed my entire outlook! Instead of focusing on numbers\names, she teaches us the importance and to appreciate people and their efforts!
Amazing instructor! I could tell she truly cared about her students and their success. She made comprehensive review videos for all quizzes and exams. Pretty much all test material was in the videos. There was a textbook but if I watched the videos I didn't usually need it. She was quick to respond to emails and gave great answers and feedback.
Loved this class, was very organized, very easy grader, easy A. lot of reading though. Also, exams are not proctored.
This was a very easy class. I took it as a half semester class and it was easier than any full semester class I've taken. Nothing is proctored, it's all quizzes and like one tiny paper and test. Teacher is reasonable and does a good job of keeping students up to date. 100% recommend her
Quizzes once or twice a week over certain chapters read. Don't worry, she tells you exactly what will be on the quizzes and tests. TEXTBOOK IS NEEDED. Read, read, and read, the quiz and test are based on the text book.
Seriously an amazing professor!! Would 100% take this class again!
Prof. Light is honestly amazing, and she does read a lot but also prepare to read and take notes outside of class she does give 5 question quiz and goes over them but be prepare to read this class i took 8-week but it was honestly amazing would recommend.
Most caring teacher I've had in a while. She is a ray of sunshine, and I recommend her if you want an easy class. However, I believe she suffers from some pain, and she was out for a lot of time, and we lost a lot of lecture time, but I don't blame her. Despite this, her grading criteria is clear and she drops tests and is available to help always!
Very amazing Professor!! Her assignments and tests weren't hard at all and were easy on the long run! I'd take this class again for sure!! Take her if you were to take a History class in TCC
Super easy to pass as she quite literally sets up the system for her students to pass with no problem. She typically assigns mini quizzes that are timed for each lesson and a few unit tests that are both NOT proctored! Every thing is super doable so you can easily pass with an A if you complete the work. I highly recommend this professor!
Dr. Light is an amazing professor. Not only does she explain the material in detail, she actually cares about her students and wants them to succeed in and out of her classroom. Prepare to read on your own. She has a schedule that she keeps you up to date on as far as quizzes and assignments. 10/10 would take her class again.
