Dr. Wang is really nice, and her lectures mostly just follow the book, so you can follow along. If you ask a question, she will clarify and make sure you understand before moving on in lecture. Her tests were not super easy, but she tells you exactly what will and will not be on each exam, and she covers all material for the departmental final.

She is very clear and gives more than enough examples of problems during lectures. She is very generous at grading your exams if you show work. Plus she answers ALL of your questions!

She's an absolute angel. Her lectures can be a bit confusing at times, but she does plenty of examples to illustrate concepts. She's a super generous grader, so don't worry if you can't get an answer 100% correct. Do your homework and demonstrate those concepts on the tests and you'll do fine. Plus, she's an occasional goof which lightens the mood.

I absolutely loved Dr. Wang, she was the best. Tests arent that bad as long as you attended class. Go to office hours she is more than willing to clear anything up. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone.

Great professor, and easily one of my favorite classes this semester. Be prepared to do textbook problems every other day to fully appreciate this class. I hated math in high school but this class has even made me consider becoming a math major. Professor Wang is understanding of her students, and does everything she can to help.

After two years without a math class, I took Professor Wang for calc 1 and thanks to her teaching ended up with a good grade. While not necessary to do well if you have taken calc before, her lectures are very helpful and definitely clear things up. She tells you what kind of problems will be on the exams, which both had an average between 80-90.

Dr. Wang is a great professor and the best option for Calc 1. I had a strong background in Calculus from high school which was very helpful, however, she is still a great lecturer and very clear. If you haven't taken calc or struggle with it, I definitely recommend doing problems from the book. An A is definitely manageable.

Professor Wang is very helpful and cares about her students understanding of the material. Pay attention in class and go to every lecture and recitation and you will be fine. She is very clear on what will be on your tests and what will be likely to appear on finals. She moves fast. It isn't hard but isn't easy either.

I really liked Professor Wang. I took her MATH0240 class during my first semester freshman year. She does good example problems in class, she's funny sometimes, and before every test she spends a class going over exactly what is going to be on the test so you know what types of problems to focus on when studying.

Definitely take Calc 3 with Wang. Her exams were easy compared to other professors and she tells you exactly what types of questions will be on each one. She clearly cares about her students' success and wants to make sure they do well.

Calc at Pitt is difficult no matter what professor you take, but Dr. Wang's class wasn't too bad. She lets you know they types of problems that are going to be on the exams before hand so you know exactly what to study. The averages on both our midterms were relatively high. The final was impossible, but that goes for any professor you take.

The best Calc teacher I've ever had. Extremely efficient in the sense that she covers the most essential material and doesn't waste your time with unnecessary subject matter. Wang is probably the greatest professor I've ever taken. Even if you don't know what is going on she'll make you laugh by pulling something out of her purse, like a shoe. I wish she was my mother. Oh, she's also EXTREMELY smart.

I took Dr. Wang for Calc 1 in the spring an she was great. The first thing you'll notice about her when she speaks is her accent, but it is not hard to get accustomed to. She teaches very well f and since calc is very hard at Pitt I would recommend her. She speaks very quietly so you kinda have to sit close.

She is a really great teacher who will genuinely try to help you if you ask for help and she really knows the material well. The biggest thing I had an issue with was her accent. I personally found it hard to understand and missed a lot of the material. Lastly, she does publish her class notes online.

Linhong Wang is my self-declared adopted mother. I would take her for every single class at Pitt if that was possible.

Calc at Pitt is difficult no matter your professor, however Linghong Wang is a good choice for Calc 1 professor. She's quiet, so sit in the front, and if you fall behind, catch up quickly because the units build on each other. The only difficulty is with her accent, but she's very nice about it and if you need her to repeat something she will.

Dr. Wang is one the the best math professors here at Pitt. Unfortunately that's not saying too much, as the math department here is subpar. However, she is certainly a diamond in the rough. She truly cares about her students and gets you ready for the infamous departmental final from day one.

Dr. Wang is an incredible professor, by far THE BEST you can take at Pitt for the departmental final. The final decides your grade in the class, and she actually prepares you for it! She'll even tell you what's least/most likely to be on it, & make study guides. Plus she's hilarious, uploads notes, & creates her own answer keys/study guides!

Linhong was such an amazing Calc 3 teacher. She lectures very fast but she does a lot of examples and makes sure you understand the material if you ask a question. She prepares you well for her midterms and for the final. She grades very fairly on tests and is just a sweetheart.

Dr. Wang is super nice. She explains everything clearly although her lectures go fast. Just keep focused and you should be alright. She is also very nice, and helpful.

Dr. Wang is super nice. She lectures a little quickly though so it's easy to get lost. Online homework is alright but still helpful in the end. Tests were also challenging but definitely fair, and she gives partial credit wherever possible. Dr. Wang is probably your best bet for Calc 3.

Amazing professor! After class she posts her lecture notes with extra examples added that really help to prepare for exams. Her notes are comprehensive and are a great supplement to in class notes and problems. Because there is only so much time in class, her added notes are extremely helpful.

I took two of her classes at one time, so enroll her class with confidence. If there is a chance, I would like to take her class again.

I took her for Math 0290 (diffeqs) and Math 230(calc3). She is good. I did not show up to class except to turn in homework in 0290 and maybe the lecture or two before exams (for both classes) because she always holds a good review and is very clear on what is expected of you and from her for the exam. She is an easy professor.

Very easy to understand while lecturing in spite of English being her second language and clearly cares about her class. She's very thorough in teaching material and always makes sure you're prepared for each quiz and exam.

Dr. wang is an extremely nice professor but she talks rapidly during the lecture. Her two midterm tests had no relation to the department final.

Very nice and caring but does speed through class. Definitely easier if you had calculus in high school. Only get the textbook if you want to do practice problems. Few problems on exams but she does explain what each question will be. There's 6 sub midterms which make up 2 midterms. Final questions were different since it's departmental.

Very helpful, nice, & doesn't make you feel stupid for questions. Slight accent but shouldn't hinder learning, talks extremely fast but she has to cover all material. 2 very hard midterms split into 3 parts each, so midterm almost every week. Slight curve on final, isn't great at explaining, but she did her best for online/ calc is hard at pitt.

Professor Lang is a solid choice for Calc. She talks very fast and a lot of knowledge is assumed, but she's easy to understand. She obviously cares about the success of her students. You'll have all the resources you'll need to succeed, you just need to work for them.

If you haven't taken calc before then you really need to work hard to stay on track. Really kind professor though and supposedly she prepares you the best for the final than the other math professors. She goes a little quickly though but it's understandable considering the amount of content she has to get through.

I had Professor Wang for Linear Algebra. I liked the way she taught the course overall and highly recommend her. My only real issues were that the lectures were a bit rushed, and the final was graded a bit strangely. To be fair, the fast pace was likely because of the amount of material that needed to be covered, and the final was departmental.

Have her for Linear Algebra and I really think she's a solid choice. Yes, she moves pretty quickly and can be a little hard to follow at times but she also explains topics very thoroughly and is always happy to answers questions, trying her best to make sure everyone understands. I would recommend

Dr. Wang is great professor. Her lectures were really well explained and shes extremely reasonable with both expectations and grading. The only thing is sometimes she moves a bit quickly so if you dont like that she may not be the professor for you, but overall I would take another one of her classes in a heartbeat

Professor Wang is a good choice for ODE. She explains every topic very thoroughly. She can move a bit fast at times but she was always willing to explain something again. She is very helpful in office hours too. Her exams are similar to the homework assignments and she is a pretty lenient grader.

Calc 2 is a hard class no matter what professor you have at Pitt, but Prof. Wang is very good at explaining topics in class and I felt prepared for the majority of the topics on the midterms. I had experience with Calc 1 in HS, but not Calc 2, and it went alright. The departmental final sucks no matter what professor you have, study well.

Took Prof. Wang over the summer. Any math course taken in only 6 weeks will be challenging, but Prof. Wang was really helpful and cared about her students doing well. Lectures were long, and there was a significant amount of homework and studying to be done outside class, but overall, she was a great prof to have over the summer.

Her lectures are very fast. This is the most difficult part about my class with her. It's like there would be a new topic every single 50-minute lecture. The HW is easier and more representative of what's on the test. And there's a lot of stuff on the test. She is very helpful in office hours.

This class does not have a lot of requirements but it was hard to bring your grade up after since it was just 3 major exams that took up your grade. Professor Wang is very accessible and helped me a lot throughout the course. I'd take her again but I think personally it was just a difficult course for me.

Dr. Wang is a very caring professor and is always willing to help her students. She goes super fast in class and doesn't pause for questions so make sure you study a lot outside of class. There are 3 exams, and weekly homework. If you do bad on one exam your grade tanks because of how much they are weighted. Overall not a bad professor.

I recommend going to all lecs and understanding the weekly hw probs. For the final/tests, practice the finals on Pitt website. The 3 tests definitely tanked by grade.

She has an accent that takes some time to get used to. Otherwise, she is a great professor and teaches content in an easy to understand manner. MATH 0280 is not a difficult class. Pay attention in class but, more importantly, study the homework questions. In LA, if you know how to do the HW problems, you will get 97s-100s on the exams

Professor Wang is the sweetest person and I often went to her office hours if I needed extra help. She moves VERY fast in lectures so it's important to put in the effort outside of class. She wants her students to succeed and is easy to reach. The course grade depends on 3 major exams so if you do poorly on one, it is hard to bring up your grade.

Dr. Wang is a very kind and knowledgeable professor. You will be prepared for her exams which are very fair - there are no trick questions. The TAs write and grade the quizzes for this course. However, it does help to consult the textbook to supplement her lectures on difficult topics, especially when the rigorous class schedule changes her pace.

Will definitely prepare you for the final and the questions on the tests are very fair. She likes to clarify concepts in a repeated and detailed way so be prepared to be behind the schedule throughout the semester. Notes are posted so no worries if you miss a lecture or can't keep up with her fast pace. Overall I really recommend Wang for calc 3.

She's so sweet and always there to help! If something didn't make sense, she would clarify so well if you asked her to. Calculus itself is difficult, so expect to do a lot of outside studying. She always told us exactly what to expect on the exams, so no curve balls. Homework is difficult, but there's a whole class time where TAs help you with it.

Wang is the nicest professor! She is very caring about her students and offers many opportunities to improve ones grade (do the extra credit). Her lectures can be boring, but calc 3 has a way of being that way. She teaches directly from the textbook, so refer to that often. 80% of your grade is exams, but that's true of all calc 3 classes.

Many people are saying that Prof. Wang speaks/teaches too fast. This is because she has so much material to cover within a short amount of time; not her fault. The course is very tough but definitely manageable if you follow along with her examples and practice outside of class. Overall, she's a very great lecturer and cares about her students.

i studied so much for this class and it really reflected in my grade. the weekly quizzes and homeworks suck, so you need to study A LOT. goes fast and ive never taken calc before so it was hard, but dr wang is always able to help. she goes through the hard problems and tells u what's on the exams. take her i love her and will take her for linear🤞

I really liked Professor Wang for calculus! Although she was quick in lecture, I was able to pick up on what she taught. She was super sweet, providing careful grading for each student she worked with. Be sure to go to lecture and recitations to succeed in this class. Studying took a lot of effort, but was well worth it in the end! :)

Good prof, who actually wants you to pass. Her lectures are alright, but still reading textbook is more beneficial. 1st midterm is actually hard. She has 3 grading formulas to help students to pass.

Very sweet lady - responds to emails quickly and wants her students to succeed. Her class is hard, especially for those taking calc for the 1st time, but this is the fault of the Pitt math department, not the prof. Definitely will need outside resources and lots of self-study if it's your 1st time in calc, but I'd recommend just taking calc at a CC

Genuinely the best math professor ive had. She taught concepts super well in class, t he recitation quizzes were easy because of that and 2 get dropped. For exams she gave a general outline of what type of questions were on it so that made the exams alot easier to prepare for. On top of this she prepared us well for the final exam.

Really great teacher imo, makes concepts very clear and simple to understand. It was my first time ever taking calc so I was very nervous but she made everything seem less scary. Goes fast so very important to pay attention. My grade is low due to my lack of studying before quizzes and my first midterm, not anything to do with her teaching.

This is an easy class, especially if you have taken AP Calc in high school. Her lectures might be a little confusing to those new to calc, but I overall enjoyed her class as she used multiple examples to explain each concept. Definitely recommend

Dr. Wang is the best. I took her after getting an A in 0220 but 0280 was different. Fortunately, she is helpful during office hours and the concepts become more graspable. The grading is based on three exams and homework, but if you put in the effort, she scales it in your favor. Stay on top of homework and attend class, and you'll do well.

I LOVE HER!! I can not overstate how amazing she is. She is a strong but kind prof. She curves when needed but doesn't hand out points. She is so amazing in office hours. She is so kind and wants to make you succeed. I did worse than I wanted but none of it is attributed to her- if you study, do your hw, and attend lectures- you will get an A.

Linhong Wang is the goat of linear algebra. Doing her practice tests and reviewing homework's was enough to do well on her tests. She does a good job at explaining concepts and does plenty of practice problems in class.

HEAVENLY curve. I got an 80 on both midterms and a 60 on the final and got an A+. My prayers were answered. I've definitely had better teachers in terms of lecture quality, but she explains the concepts well enough most of the time, and TAs or AI can explain what you don't get. Tests are hard but fair.

Literally the greatest teacher of all time that I have ever had for my math classes. She is always eager to teach and is involved in what she is saying. Every time I go to her office hours she is the nicest person to work with in understanding concepts. Very nice grader as well. Linhong Wang is the greatest math teacher at the University of Pitt.

I love her so much. She gives a review before her exams and is very engaging with what she is teaching. Linear algebra in itself is a pretty bland topic, however Linhong Wang makes it the most fun course to take. She is genuinely a sweet heart. If I could take her for every single class that I have ever had for every class I would.

She is perfection! She describes concepts very clearly and goes at a very reasonable pace. Notes are extremely accessible and helpful. She is a very nice and enthusiastic teacher. I have never had a better review session than the ones she gives before tests. Might be best professor in the department, and I've taken almost every math class here.

Dr. Wang is a very kind and supportive professor. I took Calculus AB in high school, so I had an easier time with her class, but I recommend taking it regardless. It's a bit harder without having calculus experience but she is very kind and supportive- she does not want you to fail! Grading is very test heavy but if you study hard you'll be okay!

Her lectures were a good baseline, but you def had to study A LOT for the midterms and final. She also tells you exactly whats going to be on the midterms the lecture before. Very kind and funny. Posts all notes.

Dr. Wang is so awesome!! She wants you to pass and will do everything she can to make sure that happens. I took Calc AB in high school so I already had a decent understanding of the topics. If you've never taken calc before her class is more difficult but you should take it anyways. She's the best!

I really love Dr. Wang! She is a great proffessor and person and its really clear she cares about her students. Youre only graded on homework (10%), recitation quizes(10%), 2 mid terms (25% each) and a final (30%) which makes it difficult to come back from a bad grade. If you havent taken calc before get ready to study extra cause she goes quick.

Great prof, explains concepts clearly and gives relevant examples. Very enthusiastic. Lots of homework, but that's to be expected in calc. I only got a C because I had a rough semester, would have been fine and well-prepared otherwise. She lectures at the speed of light though lol

Amazing professor who genuinely wants you to succeed. She explains the deeper concepts of calculus I didn't get in high school. She has a review class before the midterms and goes over everything to expect on them which was super nice. If you've never taken calc before her lectures may be a little difficult, but I would still recommend her!

Dr. Wang is a very good lecturer who cares about her students. The midterms were challenging but very scoreable if you put in enough time. She was funny and entertaining and is incredibly smart. I am very happy with my choice to take her for Calc 1 and would advise any incoming students to try to get her.
