Brosh is very interested in and knowledgeable about her subject, but she is often a little too excited. She is late to class more often than not and doesn't know how to use a computer well. She doesn't stick to the syllabus either. She's rather scatterbrained, but her class is easy. If you have her, MAKE FRIENDS(!) in case you miss class.
Prof. Brosh showed a considerable lack of consideration for the students. She was late 90% of the time and has very little interpersonal skills. Unless if you want to be pointed at and called "you" when you raise your hand because your prof. can't learn 20 names don't take her.
One of the best teachers I've had so far. She really wants the students to do well in the class and is very helpful with essays. Her assignments are not that demanding. You just have to do the reading and the questions.
Best teacher I've had so far in NYU. She inspired me to take interest in something I was previously not and made my experience with the subject all the better. She is a very FAIR grader, holds interesting discussions in class, and is a very nice lady. She may assign homeworks after every class but they are really helpful for the final.
Prof. Brosh is the sweetest woman. She is very helpful and she understands that you have other classes. Mora than once she extended our due dates, which was great. I recommend getting yourself a buddy to keep you updated if you miss class. Other than that, she is great. She taught me how to analyze tets on a deeper level. I recommend her highly.
She chose good texts. At first, listen to the discussions and learn the type of analysis she likes. Then analyze the subsequent works in that manner. Not a hard grader, if you follow directions. Lecture is based on class participation so be sure to get your word in there. As a person, she is kind and patient. I would take her for CFIII if I could.
She is THE BEST professor at NYU I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is always smiling and is ready to help! Show you're interested in the class and she will love you. Do the reading, participate in class and you will get an A. Do the reading it's sooo interesting and engage in discussion, you will learn so much! Take her!
Professor Brosh is very intense but also a very sweet lady. She's stressed a lot, but she is always willing to help. She tends to get flustered, but seriously she is so passionate about teaching and about the material it's amazing and she is willing to work with you. Don't even think about using your phone or cheating. She will catch you.
Although the class would sometimes be put to sleep during her lectures, she also gives the class time to participate. She does get flustered easily when it comes to technology, but she is a nice person. She likes those who participate. There is a lot of reading, and she expects you to do all of it. Sometimes she gives quizzes based on the readings.
Professor Brosh is a passionate, helpful, and instructive professor. She comes to every class very prepared, and is always willing to be a great instructor. She is also a very kind lady, and she creates an entertaining class environment. I could not say anything bad about her or her class. You will love her!!!!!
Very good, structured class. A lot of reading but we always discuss the reading in class. Pop quiz on reading most classes. She likes people who participate. If you don't do the reading you will fail, if you do, you'll get an A
You will learn a lot if you take Professor Brosh!! Professional, informative, and enthusiastic, Professor Brosh will motivate you to work hard and get as much out of the class as possible. There is a lot of reading, but that's just the nature of the course. Also know that she offers plenty of extra credit, and is a fair grader. I'd take her again.
Extremely kind, understanding, and compassionate. As long as you participate and do the reading (emphasis on doing the fking reading), then you will 99% get an A. It's that simple. Do what you are supposed to do and you will be rewarded. However, if you don't, then gluck!
Extremely disorganized (she was ALWAYS late to our class). She is also not open to other interpretations of the text- she is adamant in having the text seen in her point of view only. An easy A though if you do the reading. During the days she was actually early for class, there would be pop quizzes.
This Professor is honestly one of the most straight-forward professors I encountered within my freshman year. Even though she seems to be a bit intimidating in the beginning and gives of the impression that she isn't very approachable, if you read everything you're supposed to and participate in class, you will be perfectly fine.
Straightforward, informative, never dull. She is not a hard grader but she still expects for you to read and do your work well. Take her if you want to learn new things AND get a decent grade.
I love Dr. Brosh, i took her twice. She gives a lot of reading but if you actively read and participate in class, you will get an A. 50% of the class is pop quizzes on the HW so read, take notes on what you're reading so you can bring it up in class. The final is HARD but if you actually read you should be kind of ok.. i got a 90 on it somehow.
Brosh is a nice person. She gave me an A-, but I had to work for it. HARD. She relies heavily on class participation to carry discussions, and will call randomly on you. A nice person and gives you second chances on papers if you show that you care. But honestly, I dreaded her class. Even looking back on it, I still wouldn't take again. Mixed...
Do the readings, show up, do the study questions, participate, and you'll get an easy A. This class is literally high school, as she includes pop quizzes and homework roughly equivalent to midterms and finals.
Great person and great teacher hands down!! Nearly every class there is a reading assignment, possible quiz, and then a discussion of information. She makes it clear what she expects. Just know that the course gets easier towards the end of the semester and she becomes more lenient. Read and show up. You'll do just fine. :-) Liora is awesome!!
Do your readings, DON'T MISS CLASSES (automatic F for any missed quizzes, no makeup), hand in all study questions, always be ready for pop quizzes, participate actively in class. Makes it extremely clear what she wants & makes u work for ur grade. Really nice person but very stern about class ethics. Tests are pretty difficult but easy grader.
absolutely terrible, do yourself a huge favor by not taking this class. Expects perfect answers on things she doesnt even teach in class
My favorite professor in liberal studies! I took both CF1 and 2 with her, and I absolutely love her. She is strict about her assignment policy and attendance policy, yet she is super nice and a generous grader as long as you finish all the works she gave out. She doesn't expect perfect answer, but if you argue reasonable she gives you fair grade.
A wonderful professor! Dr. Brosh is strict about grading, attendance, and homework, but very reasonable. I have learned literally so much in her class and took her for both CFI and CFII. She picks great works and engages her students. She also offers ample extra credit and it is not hard to get an A if you put in the wokr
Very nice professor, her lectures were very clear and interesting. Exams can be hard, especially the passages can be confusing; however, if you actually take notes and read the required texts you will be fine.
Prof Brosh is one of those professors that you will love or hate. Personally, I loved her but that is not without putting in way too much effort. On the midterm she gives out there was one 100 and the next highest grade was a 90 obtained by at most three people. Her midterm and final identification sections are extremely hard
I like her in the beginning, but as time goes on she still doesn't know my name as I am one of the most active one in class. My name is foreign, I will take it even if she pronounces it wrong but she's not even trying! It is for sure not a problem if she doesn't know like the others too. But it is a SMALL CLASS and she remembers all the others.
Very adamant on having things being seen from her point of view. Makes inappropriate comments on others in class (comments on frat life, drinking habits, etc.) Disorganized at times. Seems genuinely passionate though- I admire that.
Her lecture is like poetry. Carefully planned, skilfully executed, from the heart. I miss this lovely lady. Students: Don't expect an easy A just because you paid the fees. Put some effort !!
my fav bbb professor Broshie luv her guys
Gave a poor review and came back to give her 5stars cause she's dat good! Did so much work and really worked hard. But it pays off. She gave the best fee back of all time and makes you want to work even more harder! 10/10 love! Will give extra credit work to help you upgrade the letter. TAKE HER! So many student got a letter up bc they tried
Very nice person, but with very minimal knowledge of the material she teaches. She will act as though you've made an incredibly insightful point as long as it's something she agrees with. Gives pop quizzes but they're in substitution for a midterm. Very easy A, but if you're passionate about literature and/or art, I'd go with someone else.
prof brosh is rly chill. grades REALLY leniently. assigns easy reading w homework, but v easy/ cushions your grade. never received anything lower than an A- in her class, bc most things are context. chose interesting but old books, lectures get pretty boring but she's just doing her job going through course material. Would take her again fo sho.
Solid professor, tends to lecture a lot before allowing students to participate. Clearly states criteria for assignments and grading. Quite lenient when grading, you can get a high grade by reiterating points she made herself in class. For someone who is otherwise disinterested in the course material, she's a good professor.
She is a caring, sweet person. Very easy grader. Says she gives "pop quizzes", but will tell you when shes gonna give them and they're not difficult, just one written response question. And the quizzes are your midterm grade, so no midterm :) Classes are mostly discussion based, but heads up, they are so so boring. Overall, is a pretty okay teacher
I LOVE Professor Brosh. Great teacher with a vast knowledge of the required texts. She has a genuine interest in the course material and expects you to share that same interest. While reading is often pretty heavy, every text is interesting. She is a very caring person that will help you along the way. 10/10. Already planning to take her again
Looking back, this class was a solid choice. There's a lot of readings and you have to make and effort to keep up with them otherwise Finals season is going to hit you way harder than it should. The pop quizzes are "OK", if you read you won't have a problem. She's a nice person, make sure she knows your name (participation is important). Good luck!
I feel she's the pro you'll love or hate and I absolutely love her! she's intellectual, articulate, and sweet. she's thoughtful and values ideas so take her if you have any lol! I would admit she appeared intimidating in the beginning but once we got to know each other she's ever so kind and sweet!
if it wasnt daily, it was weekly quizzes. need to read in order to pass. discussions are very analytical on her part but too boring. cnt use technology; must take notes by hand
You actually have to READ and ANNOTATE and review your annotations. Expect quizzes often, quizzes are obscure/ from random parts of the text, be as detailed as possible in any work you submit. If you participate in class (every class) and go to office hours (one on one) you may be okay. Show up to class because you cant make up anything.
Great professor who is very kind, subject matter can be kind of dull sometimes but her class discussions liven things up and can be interesting. She's been nothing but the best to me and I can tell that my participation made a difference in my learning of the subject matter and on my grade. Very kind professor who genuinely cares about her students
A professor who brings immense passion and expertise. Classes can become a little dreary, as she bans technology and tends to lecture more. Be prepared to complete the readings, as she often doles out pop quizzes. However, quizzes come instead of a midterm, which is a benefit. Expect to earn a good grade if you do the work and participate actively.
Dr. Brosh is my favorite professor ever! I'm sorry, but she's not here to give you an easy A (she makes you work for it, but it is definitely doable). You have to do the readings in order to succeed, which is how it should be. I've learned so much for her and cannot recommend enough. I love her. If you like learning, you will love her.
Professor Brosh is a nice enough person as she is but definitely plays by her own rulebook. She does not allow ANY questions outside of what the lecture is on and if you bring in another idea during the lecture, she will glaze over you. There's a lot of reading every class, and lots of pop quizzes. Take her class if you want to learn authentically.
Brosh can seem a bit discombobulated, but she knows what she's doing. Though she can be a bit of a savage, she's really just playing devil's advocate to make you really think about the material. Easy if you do the reading and participate. I had her during the corona semester and she really worked to make online classes as good as possible. Caring
Caring, do not take her class because: 1) weekly quizzes, class discussions, at least two reaction papers, an art presentation, one 1500 words min final paper, a hard final exam (two versions of unfair, unequal difficulty) while your peers have only weekly response paper and discussion 2) grading is harsh 3) disorganized professor who goes offtrack
She is very into literature, but not so interested in teaching about art, which is a disaster for me. Although she will always inform us before she gives out quizzes, they are not very easy because she gives out tons of readings for every class. Still, she seems like an easy grader, because I think I screwed lots of pop quizzes but still gets an A.
She's very enthusiastic about the course and cares for students. But gets more strict since online classes. Lots of quizzes instead of a midterm. A final paper and final exam on everything, but graded easily. LOTs of reading, though it was quite fun. So take her if you want to learn authentically.
She has shown less understanding of proper technology or media used for the lecture. I assume she is a kind and caring professor, but not sure if she is fully considerate of the burdens and problems that students might have for this especially hard time. The assignments are mostly repetitive, which dropped the motivations for me most of the time.
Shes awful, I got a 55/100 on the art history part of her final. I emailed her asking what i Did wrong because she gave no feedback, and she said she didnt understand how i knew so many of the answers. She basically just screwed me over because she didnt like me. I had an -A in her class prior to the final and she got me down to a B. Awful 0/10
Brosh was very rude in class and created an uncomfortable environment. She did offer extra credit, though, and was understandable about some things. However, I don't think her attitude in class was worth it. Plus, the readings were hard!
Bottom line is if you read and participate you are golden. She is very fair when it comes to grading and loves talking about the literature and art she teaches. She also gives out study guides for the readings and most likely than not one of those questions is going to be your quiz question on that text. She is intimidating at first.
She is very caring and very inspirational in class. She makes you want to know arts more. People here give her bad ratings because she is not that kind of professor who gives an easy A to everyone. You need to read the readings for discussion. This is one of my favorite classes throughout the whole year (yes I took her for a year).
I was pretty anxious about her classes at first so I put lots of works and time into this class. It turned out my efforts were paid back! She is so caring! The art history part is difficult but she did a great job of explaining it!
I took her both semesters, and honestly as long as do the readings (not too long, interesting books) and participate in class (literally just say any analysis): youre golden. She is very nice and gives a lot of warnings in regards to pop quizzes, and the assignments are straightforward. Just read and offer "interesting" text opinions and youre good
She can seem cold/intimidating at first. Still, she is always fair and only wants her students to engage and perform their best. If you pay attention to her instructions, do the readings (very light, few chapters or less each lecture) and share thoughts at least once each lecture you will do well :)
Professor Brosh can seem a little intimidating at first, but she's truly a great professor. She's smart and passionate about the material. There are pop quizzes to ensure you keep up with the readings (a lot of readings) but she explains things really thoroughly in class. Lots of opportunities to bring your grade up.
Prof. Brosh is so passionate about what she teaches. She is very thoughtful and much sweeter than she initially seems. She drops hints/gives advance notice for pop quizzes and never tests on texts you haven't already discussed in class. Participate and do the readings and you'll be fine. Final was tricky, but if you study thoroughly you'll be okay.
Brosh is such a good professor, especially for this class. She helps you understand the texts you read and helps you with any questions you may have on your assignments. This class has 2 papers, a final and a presentation but she's an easy grader if you put in the work. I really recommend her and this class!
One of the funniest and coolest professors I've ever had.
Professor Brosh analyzes texts in depth and gives everyone a chance to participate. But her quizzes are unplanned and surprised, missing a class on the wrong day means you will have NO CHANCE to make up for how it impacts your grade (a lot since an A is at 95%). The readings excessive and you're expected to remember all the details. A lot of work.
Professor Brosh is passionate about the subjects she teaches, but it is critical that students participate in class and do the readings. She will sometimes use pop quizzes as a way to make sure students have done their homework, so it is important not to slack off. Participate in the dialogue, and it will be just fine.
Brosh is one of the best professors I've had. She is very clear about how she grades and what she's looking for in assignments. She gives so much leeway with assignments and is such an easy grader. Her final exam is challenging, however it is so easy to get an A in her class if you put in the work. She is accommodating and very sweet to talk with.
The worst professor I've ever had. She's super mean and loves giving ppl Fs on pop quizzes. Its all abt her bias. I didn't learn anything from this class. Just RUN
tough grader
Don't recommend her. If you didn't write things she loved in the quiz you will suffer. Lots of Fs in my class... Definitely have specific taste.
Don't take her class!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The revision closed book final exam definitely ruined my life. Be ready to study six hours per day. It sucks
She is just SLACK in her work. Not accessible. It takes her a few days to respond to your emails. Sometimes, she even pretended not seeing them. DO NOT take her!
"I don't care about your grade"
I believe that this professor does not find any enjoyment in teaching and does not care for her students' success. She clearly said to the whole class, " I don't care about your grades"
the worst ever
She is a very unreasonable grader. There is no logic in how she grades her assignments and she is very inconsistent. You may do good on one assignment but bad on another with no reasonable explanation. She tends to have biases in class and is very disorganized in her teaching style. There were also many times when she confused important dates.
Pop quizzes around 5 times during the semester, where she expects you to memorize everything. Lectures are boring and honestly not that helpful especially because she expects you to memorize a bunch of artwork for the midterm and final. Dont take her unless you want to waste your time
definitely have to read thoroughly for class due to pop quizzes, the final, and discussions. grading is based on what she wants to hear/read..it is known she rarely gives A's. she is slightly biased in that you can tell who her favorites are right from the start.
Her assignments weren't hard but she was so unclear with what she expected out of us. not really understanding and nit picks everything. not interactive with students and you can tell when does not fw you. smh. would never take again. pop quizzes out of no where too so beware!
She's... something. As a person, she's not very nice. As a grader, it's mixed. I don't know how hard the professors here can be in terms of grading, but if you're okay with getting your feelings hurt or jabbed at, take it. If you're like me and you're sensitive and start crying in the shower because of what people say a week ago, don't.
Honestly I thought she was so funny and kept engaged—cause if I was typing on my computer she'd call me out lol. She's an easy grader and lowkey hints at pop quizzes but like you have to read a little to bs your way out of that. Final took a lot of studying but overall an easy A if you put in the work.
This is among one of the worst classes I have ever taken. Despite the fact that this is an ENTRY LEVEL class, it's treated like a weed out course. She constantly breaks university code, and she has a new excuse for why something is the student's fault and not her own every week. It's a curse that she hasn't been fired yet.
Brosh is an interesting professor. Class is super boring but if you do the reading and the work on time and speak here and there she will like you and give you a good grade. it's not a hard class if you put in some work and get on her good side.
There is a lot of reading and there can be pop quizzes. But if you did read and participate, you will find this class easy. Pay attention in class, all the materials on the final will be taught in the lectures. Your grades will be based on essay, participation, final, presentation, and pop quiz.
Professor Brosh was a pretty easy professor if you do the readings and participate in class. Get on her good side because she does pick favorites! She's very picky about her students having the exact translations of every text, and she gives reading quizzes almost every week. She's also very old school and rude sometimes, but occasionally funny.
Not the best but not the worst. If you miss more than 4 classes your participation grade goes down a whole letter. About 2 pop quizzes per book, one essay, midterm, one art project, and hard final but if your study for a long time you'll get a good grade.
THE WORST EVER DO NOT TAKE!!! She caught someone internet browsing on their laptop and literally snatched it out of their hands and held it for the rest of class. Two months into the semester she called me the wrong name like twice when I participated everyday. Was always late to class. Gave the worst pop quizzes. Easy A, but at what cost...
Really have a taste and opinion. Sensitive when you are using your device in class.
