very great professor. easy and fun. highly recommended to anyone.

Dr. Barley is one of the sweetest people you ever wanna meet in your life. She takes the time to know your name and will bend over backwards for anyone. Her class is fun and enjoyable and you will learn many new things. Do not take 202 with anyone but her!
Dr. Barley is, hands down, one of the best professors I've ever had. In her class I've learned a lot of new things some about myself and some about communication. She is a real joy to be around and her class is a treat. I would recommend her ion a hearbeat.
She is an awesome professor. Always helpful and she is extremely easy. There is no final exam, just a final tradeshow presentation that you do with a partner. that is all you work on the last month of her class. tests are very easy. do the study guide and thats all you will need. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!
Prof. Barley is a nice person and is a good professor. The assignments sound hard at first, but are really not hard to do. I would recommend her.
Very nice and easy grader. If you do the work and what is expected you get and A. The only way to mess up your grade is not doing the assignment or doing bad on a test. Id recommend her to anybody.
I love this teacher, she's great and you'll learn also. Very easy, if your looking for an easy A take her.
She is so nice. Bit too interested though :). Near the end of my senior year, I found this class SOOOO helpful. I only wish I had taken more of her classes.
The best word to describe Dr. Barley is 'interesting'. She is a strange woman but a good teacher. I took her class for spring semester and went out of town, missing 2 days, she was so accomindating and helpful to me when I got back. Her class was easy and the 2 presentations were fun to do. I got an A-
Very Good teacher. She is clearly professional. Changes types of activities all the type so you are not getting bored at all. You have to make two presentations in her class (one is on your own, second with a partner). Easy to get ready and very interesting experience. Tests are not hard at all. Not that much homework eather.
Not a difficult class, and she LOOOVVEES what she is teaching. Her stories are frequently long and frustrating because the don't relate to the topic at all.
Class is easy, two easy tests exactly from study guide, hardly any HW, easy grader on two presentations, don't buy book
Probably one of the most understanding and accomidating professors out there. I'd say you need the book, she refers to it often. Her tests are easy. I took her in spring so her class flew by. Nice, but a little wacky.
Very very easy!!!
Easy teacher who loves what she does. She gets mad when people make up excuses for missing an assignment or not attending class. Don't go to her office though unless you have a lot of time..She likes to talk. I had fun in her class and I recommend her.
She's a really cool teacher, you just have to be a organized person so that the class can be easier for you, I got an A and all I did was show up, and do the homework.
Gives way too much busy work and gets mean with no prompting.
absolute nutcase. too much busy work, and horrible communicator. wayyyyyy too defensive to be teaching something about ethical international communication
Dr Barley is a very, very interesting professor. She is a morning person. I had her this summer the class went by fast. She is extremely helpful but there is a lot of work in the class but it actually is necessary being the course is business communication. I would take another class with her.
Class schedule is not organized effectively. Some of the subjects and ideas on tests are not covered in class. Also has a bad habit of e-mailing assignments and homework without announcing it in class.
This class was cake. Seriously, if you don't get an A that means you never came to class or gave even the slightest effort. Tests are fairly scripted and just require memorization. A lot of projects and presentations, but she is an easy grader if you make a decent effort. It is the perfect Summer/Spring class, flies by and is easy.
Her class is very basic. She gives you some busy work but all of it honestly takes minutes. Most homework/ announcements are e-mailed to you days before class so you know what will be going on in class. Clear speaker, very helpful. Tests are simple and based on remembering things mostly talked about in class. I would recommend to others.
Easy A, just do all the work, not hard at all
She's psycho but the class is so easy I guess it's worth it... But seriously... she's crazy.
You use the book twice. She goes crazy if you don't understand what she says. She has ridiculous assignment. She had an attitude problem, but whatever. It was easy, just a waste of my time.
Fairly good teacher, gives quite a bit of busy work but it's all easy. Tests are easy as well and she grades very generously. Towards the end of the class she seemed to get worked up easier and didn't always have her stuff in order. Good teacher overall though.
She is crazy and you can tell from day one. I went through hoops to buy the book because it is an edition that they dont make anymore and we never use it.The class is very boring but very easy. She sends about 5 e-mails a week and makes you print off about 50 useless things to class.
She is a little out there but easy class she is helpful and wants to see you do good. Alot of busy hw and small assignments but their easy just annoying. She is very picky about grading and you have to do everything exactly how she wants it or shell mark you down. Easy A. Shes nice, you only use the book towards the beginning of class for hw.
I would not recommend this professor. Dr. Barley uses the classroom as a platform to push her personal agenda. One assignment actually required that the students reference an article written by the professor - and it wasn't a very good article. She micromanages assignments and is consistently late for class. If possible, find another professor.
Well she is a little interesting, but she does give good advice, lots of busy work, but you really have to try hard to fail this class. show up when you have presentations and turn in work and get your A.
Has no right to be teaching any type of management class, I learned more about management in my accounting class then in this one. Loves to hear herself talk and brings up random things that have nothing to do with the class. But she is a very easy teacher and this class is an easy "A" so take it if you need a blow-off course in a semester.
Very easy class as long as you do your HW & Present well. Shes very very nice but does like to talk about her personal life alot. Overall good teacher & easy A.
Take this class with Dr. Barley, other profs make you write long irrelevant papers. She focuses on documents needed to get into and operate within the business world. She's super nice and helpful, do ur work and you'll get an A. Also no final exam!
Best teacher I have ever had at EMU! She's helpful, kind, intelligent, and provides every student the opportunity to pass the class with no problems. You also learn a lot about yourself in her class. Take as many classes as you can with her!
Very easy class. There are only two tests and two quizzes. There are two group projects and one individual project. However, her teaching style is a little off. She can be rude at times also. Depsite her not teaching management very well and her rude remarks, very easy class and an easy A!
Lisa is nice, and getting through this class is a breeze if you attend regularly and complete the assignments. She is a little eccentric, but harmless.
Class is extremely easy but very, very boring. I highly recommend taking it during the summer semester because it's easier to handle to dullness. She's really helpful, all you have to do is turn in your work on time and you'll pass without a problem.
Super easy class. Only two exams, no final. Small group project and then partner project. Easy tests, easy homework. One of those classes I didn't have to worry about in my 15 cr hr semester. Very helpful outside of class. Would recommend!!! Definitely EASY to get an A.
She is such a nice person and very helpful. Her class is easy but I still learned some awesome things, like how to build a great resume.
Great class. Dr. Barley is very helpful, and a good grade is easy to achieve as long as you do the required assignments. Interesting information and a fun final project.
Class is super easy. Two exams, a few presentations. She's a pretty fair grader, and really nice.
Wonderful professor! She's so nice and helpful. Just show that you care and she'll go easy on you.
If you are looking for an easy A then this is the class to take. If you want to learn anything then take the class from someone else. If you have common sense, and you do the work, this class will be easy. She wastes quite a bit of time during class, and she is boring.
Very sweet teacher. She truly does want the best for her students. There is quite a bit of tedious work but not that hard. There are two speeches, one in a group of four and a solo one; there is also a trade show you have to do with a partner. Tests are spoon fed if you attend classes. TAKE HER you won't regret it.
Such a boring class! She gives little time on projects and always runs over on times. Though it is any easy class, it is a terrible class
Dr. Barley is very clear on what is expected in order to pass her class. If you follow the grading rubric and get your projects done on time you will do very well in her class.
Majority of the grade is projects, both team and individual, outside of 2 exams. She is very knowledgable with the subject matter, and clearly passionate. Very understanding and willing to work with students. Her grading is EXTREMELY easy, and if you go to a decent amount of classes and keep up with the homework, it's an easy A.
Class is super easy, but she gives you a ton of meaningless assignments but basically all them including the two group projects are the easiest things ever. You can skip a lot of class no problem, she just doesn't give more than +5 extra credit and won't bump you up if you're close in the end. You'll get a B just showing up, A for a little effort.
Dr. Barley is one of the most genuine professors I've ever had. Makes every effort to engage with her students and provides valuable feedback on assignments. Class wasn't particularly enjoyable, but it was extremely easy and straight forward.
I enjoyed Professor Barley's class. There is a TON of busy work, but it's all doable. She constantly goes over with what she expects from you, so it's hard to not know what is going on. Also the actual assignments that she grades are easy. You have to do a 2minute elevator pitch, a trade show, two exams, one grammar quiz, and 1 short paper.
Professor Barley makes sure students know exactly what is expected of them. She sends emails after every class listing the homework (which is never too challenging). She also emphasizes meeting with her outside of class if needed because she really wants her students to succeed. It's an easy A if you don't slack off.
Easy class. We had 2 exams that are easy if you show up and skim the chapters its on. No final exam, just a partner presentation that I thought was easy. Then there were a few small homework assignments and a larger group project. She's a pretty easy grader and there's no reason you shouldn't do well in her class.
Easy A. All of the other reviews explain the entire class. Just use her study guide for exams it is literally middle school level questions. Didn't like her too much, sorta annoying. But hey easy class. I sat in the back on Facebook never once took notes. VERY EASY GRADER
This was an easy class but I did not enjoy it. There are 2 exams and one quiz, all online. There is homework which is relatively easy. There is a final group project that is worth a lot of your grade, but easy to do. You need the books. Attendance isn't necessary. I thought the class was just boring.
Easy A! Do the work and she will love you.
Super laid back and helpful professor. If you miss a class it won't kill you. Two group projects and tests online during class so you know your grade immediately. Really cares about her students. Awesome class.
Easy A, there's two group projects that require some work but it's nothing too difficult. Highly recommend.
Although she's caring and sweet, I could not stand professor Barley. She talks way too much and often goes on tangents. She will keep you until the final minute of class because of this. She treats her college students like middle schoolers; holding your hand through everything which can get quite annoying. Easy class, easy A though
I took her during the summer semester and it couldn't have been a better choice. She is honestly the greatest professor I have ever had. She genuinely cares about her students and their success. I can't say enough positive things about her and I would HIGHLY recommend her if you have to take this class.
Dr. Barley is kind but she will talk your ear off and send you many emails. I did enjoy her as a person but she also seemed to contradict herself quite a bit when going over material. I really do think that shes nice and that she genuinely cares about her students. I also enjoyed that the tests were all online
has a lot of offic ehours
Kinda bland lectures. Pretty lame jokes. and pretty easy homework. Worst thing this prof can do is communicate. Many things that are done or said are unclear and leave you confused as to what to do next, but it is a very easy class.
She's a good professor but she can be a tough grader. Must know all of your material when doing a presentation, she will question you.
Had Barley for MGMT202, and I did not enjoy her class. Prof. Barley seems like a nice person, but is not the right person for this class. Goes on about random things instead of course material, also randomly tells you to write things down without writing them down for you to copy. Then usues that material on exams, so you have to pay attention.
Talks about random things way too often Not sure if she actually knows how to be a college level professor Just read the Test reviews beforehand and you'll ace the tests? Easiest A i have gotten but didn't prepare me for my other business courses
Really nice lady, that knows her stuff. First part of the class was reading and interacting with case studies, second part was more papers, and presentations. If you're in class and listen to her explaining stuff you'll do fine! She always replied quick to emails, and always over explained every thing which was nice!
She is a wonderful human. She wants everyone to succeed and is willing to help you at all costs as long as you ask. Go to her class even though attendance does not count she gives a lot of tips on assignments. You present a couple of times but you can make it what you want and it was a lot of fun.
Dr. Barley only cares about the success of her students and will go above and beyond for them! Very helpful and keeps you on track with reminder emails.
This professor is an amazing professor. Sometimes class can be long and boring but it is a very easy class and very easy professor. Easy A.
Very nice and caring professor. This class was not hard at all. Basically if you show up and do your work, you will get an A in the class. Two presentations, 3 tests and a few class discussions is pretty much all the class is made up of. I highly recommend her.
This class is super helpful and combines a lot of different skills you'll need into one class. You do need to read the chapters and powerpoints but the exam reviews she provides are basically what you will see on the exam. She's very sweet and you can tell she cares about what she's teaching.
Dr. Barley is a great professor. She's super knowledgable and truly cares about her students. There are two group projects and various writing/reading assignments; the workload is pretty light. Attendance is not mandatory, but make sure you're there on days where you pick group partners. Overall, awesome professor and interesting class.
Extremely non-caring through the Covid-19 crisis. Did not modify syllabus virtually at all, resulting in a chaotic group project to be done by video conferencing, and no effort was made to reach out to see how communication was/wasn't between groups. Without moving online, the class would've been okay, but pray you don't have her during a crisis.
She was a good professor. Nothing too exceptional. If you like a professor that gives a ton of details on projects you will like her. She explains everything very well and there is never confusion. She is super willing to meet outside of class. Beware! She loves in class discussion. If you don't like that - flee! She's not the professor for you.
Dr. Barley is super sweet! Her class and assignments were super easy but don't forget to get the book! You do a few projects and assignments but they're easy. She also has 3 exams, all super easy (and she gives you a review and even tells you where to find the answers). Just show up and turn on your camerashe's the sweetest professor I've had.
The class wasn't tough but the zoom calls never talked about anything you have to read and the tests are open book. The group projects aren't very well explained and the groups are usually very poorly optimized.
Very easy and laid back class, you will never have trouble understanding projects because she explains them to you numerous times. Show up to the zooms because they will help you stay on track. She is also a very easy grader so you will pass with a good grade if you submit what is required. She is passionate about the subject and her students!
Dr. Barley was very kind and receptive this semester, and I only have one real complaint with her. She has a tendency to give very in-depth explanations of assignments that already have in-depth descriptions. For me personally, this is a bit annoying but this is her only drawback.
Lisa was the most caring professor I have ever had. And that says a lot considering it was an online zoom class. Her class isnt too difficult. She is super understanding when you have to miss class. Her lectures are kind of long, but bearable. Overall an amazing professor.
She's a okay professor. She sucks at instructions and doesn't reply back to your email within a day. I honestly felt like I didn't learn anything in this class. But since this class is a required course for the COB school I highly recommend taking this class with another professor. But this class you should get an A-B grade if you do the work.
Great professor, sends too many emails though. Her class is easy though, but there is a couple group projects, but with being online it can be difficult to connect and get projects done, but overall it is a pretty easy class.
Only problem was her 24 hour period for late assignments. I told her I had a plan that meant I had a longer to complete assignments/tests and she pretty much said that it didn't matter and it wasn't fair for the other students. But it wasn't fair for me that my needs were able to be met. So take that as you wish.
Loved Doctor Barley! She was really kind, and genuinely cared if you did well. She gives three tests, which make up a decent percent of your grade, so study! She gives you time to complete the assignments, but just be aware she really is strict with citations. No final exam, just a big presentation at the end of the semester. Would take her again.
High level of participation in the class, and a lot of straight forward assignments. You can tell she cares a lot about the content she teaches as well as her students.
She is decent. She grades fairly with the group projects. If you have someone that did not participate, you will not suffer the consequence. Textbook is a necessity. Emails WAY too much. group project and 5 pg paper. Overall, a good class but she seems a little pushy...
Assigned a 9 week group project but didn't require attendance so most people in my group didn't show up. Does not have clear expectations for the project activities but will give lots of feedback after you do the activities wrong. Boring lectures that have nothing to do with assignments, don't even bother reading the textbook you won't use it
Good instructor, emails a little too much tho. The way she talks makes you feel like a high schooler but cant really complain when the rest of the class is really easy. She is super understanding with whatever might come up and is extremely clear with how she grades. Easy pass.
Dr. Barley is a great professor she is very accessible outside of class and is always willing to help and give great feedback! She does assign a group project but it is very fairly graded and you will not suffer based on your teammates performances. There is no homework for this class just weekly quizzes up until the group project
Dr. Barley is really nice, she is very passionate about what she teaches and it makes her easy to listen to. Her lectures can be interesting, and or funny. There is a group project at the end of the class that is fun if you pick the right partners, if not you can easily get screwed over.
I've taken two classes with her so far and she does a great job in highlighting and explaining what is expected in each assignment. You can tell she knows her material and she deeply cares for her students and can tell shes wants them all to excel. I go to her for any COB related advice now and she has such a great heart. Id recommend her to anyone
The professor is kind and cares about her students' success. While the class can be a bit easy, engaging with the content and using tools like unstuck AI for study prep can really pay off. Manageable workload overall.
She's nice but assigns way too much and isn't very helpful when asking questions. I would recommend taking a different professor for this course.
