Excellent Teacher. You will learn a lot.

OK! This lady is helpful however she is not easy at all. The way she gives her tests is ridiculous. There is a pop quiz every 5 labs(other prof.give quizes every lab).This sucks cuz u never know what to expect its so random.

People COME ON If you are taking this class is because you are enrolled in a serious career. Dont expect her to give you the answer for each question! Her notes are the BEST notes ever in lab. She takes her time to explain everything and she is really funny (even though she looks serious) She is a GREAT professor and she will PREPARE you well

Prof. Burgess is by far THE best teacher I haver ever had! I took her for Biology which is not an easy subject an d she made the lessons soo clear and easy to understand! I recommend her to anyone..If you study her notes and read you will get an A...i did!

Prof. Burgess was a great prof. to have. I took her for mcb2010 lab during the SUMMER, and I learned so much and had a great time doing it. I highly recommend to everyone :)

Prof. Burgess was tough but fair. If you did the work and paid attention you can pass the exams. If you didn't, you wouldn't.

She's really nice and tries to make the lab fun by always kidding around, but I have to warn you that her tests are pretty hard. I ended up getting a good grade,however most of the students in my class either got a "C" or lower. A few withdrew. I would recommend her, but just remember if you want a decent grade you will need to study 5 times harder

Shes tought, kind of boring. Study the book and study it good because her quizez and test are challenging. I probably wouldnt take her again

I'm not sure why everyone on here is giving professor Burgess such a hard time. I felt she was veryy helpful and clear in lecture. So clear, in fact, I am taking her for lab now. Biology is not easy, regardless of who you take. Read the book and STUDY and you will be fine. She is a great teacher.

Very nice and energetic professor. BUT unless you speak the "language" of biology, you have a chance of passing. If your the type thats bad at testing and really don't care about the concept of biology but there to take the class and get it over with, trust she is not the professor to take. Pop quizzes and test is what your grade basically becomes.

I think Professor Burgess is as good as they come she wants her study to go on and become the best health care professional possible.She's a great teacher. but she tries her best to explain the material. There is no way in hell you can explain bio matters in a hour.She only want us to understand so we don't look stupid at a university.

Prof. Burgess is a great teacher. Her exams are difficult, but that is necessary. If you are looking for an easy A, majoring in biology is not for you. If you think this class is difficult, wait until you get to med school! I would definitely recommend her but only for the serious biology student. if you are taking the MCAT, take her for Bio!

Hard teacher yes, but you will never have a problem taking another bio class after hers.

I know biology is suppose to be hard, but she takes hard to another level. Unless she is your only class to focus on them take her at your own risk. But if you got other sciences to focus on as well, then I highly don't recommend her. She is a tough cookie. And if you chance taking her class anyway, im warning you now she don't do audits.

First real upper level instructor I have had.She is very hard but very fair. You will have to work very hard to get an A. If you are a slacker and want an easy A you will leave crying. Had Banton for lecture (very immature) wished I had had Burgess. She will work with you however you need. Every time I went to her office she was very helpfull.

I was skeptical about having this professor at first only because of all the comments.. I didnt have her for lecture but for lab she was AWESOME..anybody who fails either of her class just dont put the effort to study... she is an extremely talented and knowledgeable professor and I would definately reccomend her to anyone needing MCBL and lec 2010

Prof. Burgess is one of the best professors I've taken at BC. If you'd like to challenge your intelligence,take her! I took her for MCB2010lab, got an A which I worked really hard for. She's smart and knowledgeable of the material. I highly recommend her,if you're willing to study.

Honestly she is one of the best teachers, I've struggled in biology. But I'm taking Bio 2 now and I realized that taking her class prepared me for any class. If you can make it in there you can make it in any BCS course. She help me with study habits,strageties. Overall I love the experience. Very Challenging but very durable.

Excellent professor, but tests are way too hard. You must really study to pass with a good grade. Definitely not an easy "A". I will have to retake the class. My recommendation, study how what you learn can be applied. Don't rely on rote memorization!!!!

I took her for lab despite the comments.She is tough, but not unnecessarily, and challenges you for the A. I could have gotten an A if I wanted it, but put in 80% and wound up with a B.Memorization will get you nowhere.You must understand the material to pass her tests and pop quizes. She is helpful when she isn't rushing you out so she can go home

I took her bio lab and breezed right through with an A. She is a great prof and knows her stuff. As long as you come in prepared to work and not socialize, you'll do fine. She was awesome, so i'm taking her for micro.

Basically any class that you take with this professor will require work on your part. Her lectures are clear and she provides help should you remain confused. She gives you the grade you deserve based on how much effort and work you put forward. Slack off and expect an A equals arrogance and a failing grade. With no one to blame but yourself.

Prof B is the best! This is a real college course. I learned so much! You have to work really hard to get a good grade, but she is there to help you every step of the way! Her "favorites" are the students who put in the effort and participate, so everyone can be one of her fav's if you try! Lots of hmwk, but it prepares you for her tests!

Great Teacher...she definitely knows her stuff..BUT...SUUUUPER hard. Those pop quizzes are no joke. Study Hard...meaning everyday. She's helpful and very nice but just hard. I got a A in the Lecture and a C in her lab class...thats how hard she is.

I took Prof. Burgess even after reading the ratings about her. She was SUPER!!! Her class is extremely hard but if you study and I mean study long and hard you will be able to pass her class. She helped me so much and she sincerely cares for her students. Don't expect to pass if you don't study. If you have problems go talk to her. I got a B

I took Brof. B for Fall. SHE IS AWESOME. This class was mind blowin hard but Prof. Burgess helped me thru it. She had confidence in me when I didn't believe in myself. Study long and hard, that's the only way to pass. You can't BS your way thru her class. You must know the info. She will go out of her way to help you understand.

She is very helpful. Gives alot of quizzes but all her info is clear and she is always helping everyone out. she is very nice

Professor Burgess IS GREAT! Her class is not that easy if you are not familiar with things you should of learned in AP1 and AP2. If you pay attention to her lecture you won't have to study as hard simple as that.Her homework is long but if you do five questions a day it's not bad at all.She really helps if you ask don't be intimidated.

Prof. B was great!! Always explains things in a way to help you understand. Her tests are not easy but if you study, you will pass! She does Blackboard study reviews before every test. She will answer any questions you have and will meet outside of class if needed. I would take her again if I could! I recommend taking her class.

prof B is great! i had her for lecture and lab. i was close to failing lab in the first part and she helped me out SO MUCH and i ended up with a B! her class is not easy and you must put in your time. she is very fair but will not take crap. she does online chats before exams and does a geat job in clarifying whatever you dont understand.

OMG I LOVE HER! She isn't unapproachable, if you go up to her and ask her questions she will answer them,and if you still do not understand she goes out of her way to help you.YES, her class was not easy. We are in college if you can't handle her you will not handle grad school. She really made me love micro and I want to take her again for bio.

a good prof. very hard class.have to study pretty much every day a few hours. very helpful but you have to put in the time to pass. she won't hand you your grade must earn it, but willing to answer any questions. study her power points & you will do fine on the test & quizes.

I had her in the Spring of 2011. A lot of people didn't like her, but that was because they probably didn't belong in that class to begin with. She explains everything clearly and is willing to help you in any way she can. My only issue with her during my semester was that towards the end she did rush a lot during lectures

After hearing all the horror stories about Micro, having a wonderful teacher makes all the difference. You will be studying A LOT. if you don't understand something go to her office hours. Prof. B. is phenominal and absolutely brilliant. I would recommend her to everyone. She is extremely helpful and fair as long as you put in the effort.

Professor B. is an amazing teacher. She knows her micro and is enthusiastic about her job. This isn't a class where you can just do the bare minimum. You actually have to study. The good thing is there's a lot of other factors that contribute to your grade. Put effort into it and you'll do fine. :)

Didn't know a thing about micro until I got into her class. She is very knowledgeable about this subject very passionate you will learn in her class. This is not an easy class though her exams are ridiculous with fill in the blank and short answers you have to study. This is not a laid back class I studied my ass off and it paid off so it's to you.

Highly recommend this professor for lab and lecture! Micro is hard, but she is able to make it interesting and crystal clear. Office hours are very helpful, never turns you away for a stupid question. She gives homework that most of the test is based off of, very helpful. Studied a lot for this class and it payed off, getting an A is very possible.

Very hard subject, class moves at a fast pace

DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE FOR THE SUMMER!!!! TAKE IT EITHER FALL OR SPRING... MOVES WAY TOO FAST... Chapters that she takes 3 weeks to cover will be crammed into u in three days... there is not enough time to study to get an A. I was a bio major when i got my first degree years ago and its hard for me to keep up.

She gives you all the tools you need to pass, and do very well. If you think she gives too many chapters in a week, and ur trying for the nursing program, try 12 chap. in a wk and a half when u get in lol. She is a great prof. and passionate about micro, just wants you to learn something before u leave her class. Dont take it in summer if ur slow

If I saw any of the people in my class coming at me as a nurse I would run in the opposite direction. This is a higher level class for those of you that supposedly want to be nurses and pharmacists, of course it is going to be hard. What do you think you have waiting for you in nursing school or pharm school? She is fair but yes you have to work.

Love her! Very knowledgeable and enjoys micro. Refers to current micro issues to help you understand the concepts. Wants you to succeed. Must study for tests. Slacking will get you nowhere.

Im an A studnt and I will be receiving a B in her class. I worked beyond hard for the grade. Studying several hours a day is a must. The tests and quizes are extremely hard. She is passionate about the subject and good at what she does. If you have no background in biology (I don't), your in for a gueling semester! Good prep for nursing...

Wonderful teacher! Insanely difficult quizzes and exams. You must put in a lot of time and effort to do well in her classes. I got an A in lab and B in lecture so it is possible. She's a very "human"teacher not robotic like the other science teachers I've had. I enjoyed her lectures and its very very obvious she's knowledgable in microbiology. I think organization is an issue but her being an excellent teacher far outweighs that flaw.

She's hard only if you don't go to class or pay attention...

This was the LAB. I didn't take her for lecture. Excellent teacher. Makes things very clear and easy to grasp. Has online video/quiz for each lab. If you have issue with grades, she will look at them change if necessary. Go to class prepared and do your work and you will have no problem getting an A. I really loved her class. Plays music too.

When I took her class, I always complain about everything. Now I total understand why she is so strict. I am in the BC nursing and exams are hard, so you need to be able to read all the chapters in order to understand and apply the concepts of the material and not just memorize the power points that is why she goes over the power points very fast.

This subject is not easy at all, matter fact it's the hardest of all the science classes but if you're going to be a nurse it's imperative that you know the basics and study HARD. She uses power points and the test are moderately hard but if you study and invest your time thoroughly you should pass. Nursing and it's prerequisites are just hard!

I took Prof B for Lab and Lecture. Lab is awesome, crystal clear. Hard practical. I also took her 6 week lecture. She is an amazing professor and knows her stuff. This subject is hard, just like her exams. She prepares you for what is expected of you for the Nursing program, if you don't like to study think about switching majors. You wont make it

Whoever says Burgess isn't fair is just plain lazy. I took the express class after dropping FAUs micro class due to their horrible teacher and teacher assistants for lab. I have learned so much from Burgess. Hands down one of my favorite teachers. Tests are tough but if you read and go to class you will pass. If I can do it so can you! A in lab!

Not as hard as I thought she would be based on others' reviews of her. She definitely makes you work for your grade, don't expect curves or to rely on extra credit. She knows her stuff and is passionate about the subject. She grades pretty fairly but you WILL read a lot, no powerpoints to look over! She is always well prepared for every class.

You will only get out of this class what you put in. Really dedicated and hard-working teacher, but you need to attend class and pay attention. If you do your part, you will see good results.

I was extremely reluctant to taking Prof. B, especially because of the ratings she's been given. I'm currently finishing my last week of her accelerated 6 week micro course. If you're a studious person, YOU'LL DO GREAT. I have an 88 in her class and hoping to pull an A off. She's more than fair and genius. You get what you put in. No excuses.

You need to be prepared to give it your all when i comes to this professor. You cant pass this class with minimal effort. She is an amazing professor and lectures very well, you need to really pay attention and STUDY EVERY DAY in order to pass this class. She is very clear on what she wants you to focus on, so just listen listen listen

I found her lectures helpful. I liked how she asked questions during the lectures to help us connect the textbook to her lectures. She cares about people. YOU HAVE TO READ BEFORE YOU GO TO THE LECTURE.... and make sure you look at the online materials. The deadlines are QUICK! She has a busy schedule, but she makes time for each student.

I absolutely loved her class! Her lectures are interesting. I took the class more than two years ago, and I still remember most of the material. You will always know what's going to be on the test. As long as you attend her lectures and pay attention, you will do well. There are group projects. That's the only downside.

This is a hard class, if you don't expect to study at least 2-3 a day, don't take it with professor B. My class started with about 40 people and ended with about 10. That being said, professor B was one of the best professors I've had. She cares how you do but YOU need to put the effort in. Go toher office hours, she will show you how to get the A.

She tough but if you study you can pass im not the best in science and she definitely isnt the easiest teacher but she the only teacher I actually learned from and i thank her alot for that. If your serious about school take her you will love it. And remember study everyday.

I read the reviews on rmp and was hesitant but I can truly say I am so thrilled to have taken her class. I learned so much and had fun while doing so. She is not going to spoon feed you at all but she does not want to see anyone fail. Powerpoints are amazing and the quizzes and tests stem from them. Do not procrastinate or you wont pass.

Take her class!!! She makes Micro SO easy to understand! She'll get you out of your seats & show you how things work. She draws simple explanations on the board to make it easier to understand. She is passionate about her field and we had a full class each time! She's easy to talk to case studies are easier than most. Wish she taught all my classes

One of the best Professors I've ever had! Micro is not an easy subject but Professor B makes is easy to understand. She's interactive, hilarious, fun to listen to and above all she will blow your mind! This is NOT an easy A class, but nothing worth having is easy! I strongly suggest taking this class over the summer both in Lab and Lec.

This is one of the best classes I've taken and I'm only saying that because I took it with one of THE best professors EVER. I took Professor B. for both lab and lecture over the summer for 6 weeks. She is very good at explaining the material and makes class as interesting and engaging as possible. I strongly recommend taking her class.

I took her for both lab and lecture and I actually enjoyed the class. Shes tough in her lecture tests but theyre all online and open notes (theres the catch). Just do the practice test she provides and youll get a high score on the test. Shes a great professor, you get to learn the material.

I learned a lot , but it was not easy at alllllll !!! She is a hard core professor... either you love or you hate it ! Study 5 hours a day and you will be good .. I managed to get an A and I was doing anatomy as well , soooooo it is totally up to you !

She is the reason I am a clinical microbiologist working for one of the biggest hospitals in the country. I was a very shy student, but she spent time talking to me after class and wrote me an excellent letter of rec that helped me get into my program. Now I'm going for my PhD and owe a lot of it to her teaching. Put in the work; it'll pay off.

I enjoyed being taught by Prof Burgess she explains things well and provides assignments prior to practicals that will really help you on them. Pre-lab quizzes before every lab, 2 assignments, 2 test, and 2 practicals. Plays music during lab (it gets you going) Has a humor that is light and refreshing. Study, stay on top of work and you will pass!!

I did the bare minimun in this class because im a transient student and do not get the grade, but I get the credit. Her class is easy as long as you read, and she gives great lectures

It is kinda funny that the students who are not prepared and don't want to work don't like her. The students who are prepared and want to learn, do their work and love her. She teaches really well and gives good examples as well as lots of tricks. I think she is just the best teacher I have had so far!!! I will certainly be taking her again!!

Let's be REAL. 5 quizzes- take unlimited times until you get 100% at home (questions are seen on exams again, EASY) 5 test also taken at home open notes, book, and Google. (YOU NEED TO STUDY, attend class, and takes notes to PASS!) 5 homework assignments submitted online (EASY) Case Study Assignment a bit challenging but doable. No extra credit.

Prof. B is a TOUGH GRADER AND SPELLING COUNTS. She is incredibly smart and will go above and beyond to help her students. The material is hard, so be prepared to work and try to pick a good partner for lab as you will be stuck with that person for the semester.

This class involves 5 quizzes with unlimited tries, 5 exams with an optional final that replaces your lowest test grade, 5 discussions, and an individual case study. The tests are pretty tough so study!!! She doesn't put the lectures or powerpoints on the website so take notes during lectures.

She is one of the best professors Ive had. She really cares for her students and her passion shows. She is not an easy A, you really have to understand the concepts and study because her tests involve a lot of essay questions. Most people might rate her poorly because of this, but if you really want to learn then theres no better choice.

prof. Burgess is tough cookie. Everything tough that comes to mind is all inclusive in her classes, BUT i will still recommend you to take her. There is so much that I remember from her lectures about those damn microbes, because she knows how to present the material and keep you on the right track. This Professor was extremely nice and truly wants to see you succeed. Yes the tests were hard but its not her fault it is the concepts. You must take the time to really focus on understanding and not just memorizing content or your gonna have a hard time. For spring she had like 18 classes to teach so God bless her for being able to handle that!

Cant believe I am saying this but I adore MS Lisa she is an amazing teacher and she teaches well MCB 2010 is hard subject already she gives you the material it is your job to study.

I aced both her lecture and lab class. She is really knowledgeable and give you lots of information on the topics. BUT, you really need to be extremely serious when choosing her. Its super heavy. You will have exams, quizzes, discussions, group case study, etc. If you dont put at least 3 hours everyday to read and study materials, you will fail.

She gives enough work to ensure you pass the class. For lecture, the final was optional. Shes easy to talk to, very understanding, and flexible. The one thing is it takes forever for grades to come out.

Professor Burgess is an excellent professor, had both lecture and lab. You will absolutely have to work hard in her class but I promise if you put in the time and effort you will get an A and learn alot. There are many projects and assignments but she is a more than fair grader. As long as you don't totally bomb the exams you will get a good grade.

Taking a science online means reading a ton which I wasn't prepared for. Professor Burgess was easily accessible to answer my questions and was very considerate when I had a death in the family. Do your best, show your best effort, stay in communication with any conflicts, and she will help you succeed.

If you have been struggling with Micro like I have you'd be a fool not to take Dr. Burgess. I took her online, she was gracious enough to post her recorded lectures from another class for our review. She is clear and informative, lots of extra credit, you are aware of your progress throughout. Connect textbook/assignments. Trust me TAKE HER.

Amazing professor. Truly cares about her students. I had an amazing time in her biology lab and felt so welcome in her classroom. If you want a knowledgeable and kind hearted prof, Dr. Burgess is the way to go.
