confusing, ask many questions to get clear answers, stressful experience. An A is easy to get if you do the work, but its definitely a headache! lectures are boring, not the information, just lecture style
The bad: Rushes through her boring lectures, and acts very unorganized. Grading seems to be arbitrary, with a lot of busy work. Get an A on the first paper, expect a B on the next. For some it was the other way around. Some of her comments are borderline insulting and unnecessary. The good: easy enough class if you do the work.
Choose another professor. Writing papers for this class will dominate semester and her grading of papers is ridiculous. Like one student commented, an A on first paper and a B on the second. Seemingly disorganized with boring lectures. Plus side: she brought baked goods.
This professor takes attendance every class and lectures literally until the last minute. She talks to fast that it is impossible to even try to learn anything that she talks about. She expects way too much out of her students and is not clear with anything at all from homework, to her study guides, to her paper assignments. I'd never take again
The only test is the final, BUT she assigns an easy 3 pg paper, an hour long group presentation, and a 10 pg paper. She doesnt post her lectures online so you HAVE to attend every class or you miss out. Either way she lectures too fast you can't even write everything down. She is also very confusing on what she wants and changes her mind ALOT.
She is one of the rudest professors I've had. When presenting powerpoints she skips over the slides fast when the material is for sure going to be on the test. Oh, and make sure you remember percents/statistics to things because if not, good luck passing a test.
She goes through her lecture so fast it's super hard to understand. She needs to breathe whenever she goes through her powerpoint, it's so annoying. Use your textbook and read them because she has questions from there. Know key terms and vocabulary as well. Overall this class was a hassle, we went over notes so quickly I didn't learn much.
She is probably one of the worst professors I've had. Her lectures are extremely boring and says "UM" about a million times while talking. She expects you to read the book or else you won't pass the test. It's really complicated how she lectures and what's on the test. Be sure to remember numbers or else you won't pass exams.
Terrible professor. Exams are impossible. She grades extremely incorrectly. She rushes through every slide. Is very confusing. Blames students for bad grades; mind you, the class average on exams were always below a 65%. Avoid at all costs. I got all A'sfor this semester except for this class.
Professor Chaudhari is very unorganized & spends all her lectures asking us what we think about different topics. The most she will lecture is for 10minutes and the rest is on your own. She Gives tons of hw, presentations, & papers (5-10pgs long). She takes forever to grade everything & talks too fast to keep up. You'll pass if you work hard solo
Great class. Lots of guest lecturer, lots of reading and weekly quizzes. You'll do fine if you keep up with the reading and take good notes.
Professor Chaudhari is very unorganized & spends all her lectures asking us what we think about different topics. She gives tons of hw, presentations, & papers (5-10pgs long). She takes forever to grade everything. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Got A's on all my classes except this one.
Is very unclear on what she wants on her assignments. Talks way too fast. Expects Master's level analysis for every assignment. Very tough grader.
You have to read the book in order to answer the quizzes. Do all assignments and put some effort into the papers. The class isn't hard, but it takes time. I took the hybrid 345 class, so most of the work you do on your own. A lot of people are disappointed because it's not a breeze, but you can get an A easily if you make an effort.
The class itself had great content like knowledgable guest speakers and interesting material, what made the class very difficult was the actual Professor's inability to provide a great lecture she constantly used the word "um" and did not seem to be knowledge in the subject she was teaching, I felt like I was being ripped off from a great class!!!!
Unclear lectures and grading makes no sense. If you can take someone else, do it. If not, try to keep up with her because she makes no sense! Teaches absolutely nothing and yet is always rambling. A few papers and a group project. Not accessible outside of class and is not clear on anything.
It was a good class, not too demanding, but not too simple. There are a lot of online quizzes based on the reading, but you can read the articles while taking them. The papers are based on the lectures and she uploads the Powerpoints which makes it easy to study. She lets you redo assignments, which is nice of her, towards the end of the semester.
I honestly don't know why people disliked her class so much. I really enjoyed taking HSCI345 with her. Yes, the work is tedious but if you have good time management skills, you can pass with flying colors. Chaudhari can be confusing, I highly encourage you email her or stay after class and she will be more than happy to clarify for you. Take her!
Every week you have to read articles(sometimes long ones) and take timed online quizzes on them(mc & short ans). 3 Reflection papers on videos. 3 essay exams(must study everything she has gone over). And final presentation with a written part. Too much work, reading and time consuming but passable if you work hard. I think I might get an A or B.
omg where do i start? she's so extra! my class is not even done yet and she still has no graded some of my work. she gives to many pagers. she gives us a final 3 page essay and than another final that is 10 pages long. she also makes us do a couple of more short papers. she gives quizzes that are not based on the textbook. she is a tough grader.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this professor at all costs. I regret not looking her up before taking her class. She takes forever to grade, not to mention so much work and she doesn't explain herself clear. Finals week and I don't know where I stand in the class. Take something else if you can.
This professor assigned tough quizzes and long papers. The assignments that were heavily graded (avg of 63%) couldnt even be balanced by weekly assignments (that were worth 0 points). The last two weeks of class consisted of a 3-4 page paper and then a 10 page paper. I put a lot of effort into an ELECTIVE CLASS, which shouldnt have been this hard.
You will have to work hard for a good grade. There is a group project and presentation. Also, there is an individual presentation. The only bad thing is that the quizes are timed and there is no option to save your work. I lost many points because I run out of time doing the HW. Really fun extra credit opportunities
honestly, worst disorganized professor ever. she is nice and all but as a professor I had such difficulty trying to understand what she wanted in her assignments. she would randomly give weekly assignments that didnt even count as a grade plus quizzes that counted alot. 1 big project where you need to narrate and post online, 1 big 10 pg essay.
wow! i have never taken any class that required so much work. Don't take this class if you have other options. The assignments are LONG and UNCLEAR. You spend a lot of time trying to figure out what the assignment is. Time consuming assignments are due back to back. Don't be fooled by the syllabus. There's like 10 subassignments for each assignment
MOST HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! Unneccessarily long assignment with unclear due dates. Made an online class the worst experience ever! I would have rather taken a math class if I wanted to be confused. Save yourself the trouble and your GPA from plummeting. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Take another professor if possible. She was the only one available so I took her. Unfortunately had to withdraw because I wasn't learning anything, and I'm an A student. Her tests are extremely hard, she teaches irrelevant material and doesn't answer questions clearly. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but I do regret taking her
BEWARE! Don't get me wrong the professor means well but the way she teaches is so confusing. Halfway through the semester I gave up on learning anything from her and self-taught myself. I took so many notes and color coded them and half of my notes weren't in the test. I was so confused! Her lectures are confusing too.
She is very rude to her students, gives a ton of homework quizzes and essays, and requires students to do a lot of service hours while making the process as painful as possible. She is a very tough grader. She doesn't teach anything herself, everything we learn is from guest speakers and other outside sources.
Killed my interest in the subject
No clarity at all. Expects the world of you without exactly telling you how to please her. I was a straight A student until I took her class! There were a lot of readings and assignments in this class. Her course is very poorly structured. She makes it hard for students who are interested in the subject matter to remain enthusiastic.
She talks very fast and goes off tangent that which makes it very difficult to decipher what information is necessary to know and what is just fluff. She overly explains the simplistic things yet barely explains the important information.
By far the worst professor I have taken. She often comes to class unprepared and blows through the lecture slides. She tells students that our quiz grades are because students don't ask enough questions in class, but whenever a question is asked she doesn't know the answer
This professor is completely anal about ALL assignments. Given that it is an online class, she gives you a lot of homework, but thats not the kicker, she gives you a five-paged "instructions" that is supposed to be "helpful" but in reality, makes everything more complicated. She is not straight forward. and oh, did I mention a 25 paged syllabus?
this teacher was good to me in my opinion. not hard, and not too easy. this class wasnt a big deal like everyone is making it seem like. however, her instructions for her papers are a little annoying, but other than that i passed this class without even trying with a A.
I honestly love this professor! Dont get me wrong, I have an A- and have busted my butt for it, but I love the way she teaches. She used many different resources including guest speakers and videos to supplement the readings and lectures. Her requirements are stated for assignments and people who do not follow them just arent reading closely
Regret taking her as my teacher for this class. She was so hard and so unclear about what she wanted from you for her papers. I would not recommend her at all. If you have her you should try to switch out if not drop the course.
My biggest regret this semester is not listening to the warnings about this professor. Going to class is completely pointless. I got the feeling that she never really knew what she was doing. Uses lengthy powerpoint presentations which are basically pictures, charts, and definitions copied from the articles we had to read. The worst!
Since the class was online, I aced all of the quizzes. There are no midterms nor a final for the course, and in return there are many papers and long discussion we had to write. She would indicate a later due date, and before we realized it, she then closed the assignment a week earlier! Also, she didn't provide any feedback on the papers!
Extremely tough grader! I aced all of her online quizzes; but since there is no midterms nor a final, we had to write long papers and discussions, and she didn't provide any feedback for them! Also, her indicated due dates are NOT the actual due dates, she closed several assignments a week before they are due, and everyone got points deducted.
The worst teacher I have ever had! Never explains anything, uses A LOT of vocal fillers! In the middle of teaching she will break into a bunch of nonsense and then lose her place. You will have to teach yourself.
By far the worst professor I have taken. She often comes to class unprepared and blows through the lecture slides. She tells students that our quiz grades are because students don't ask enough questions in class, but whenever a question is asked she doesn't know the answer.
Professor Chaudhari may seem intimidating at first, but she is one of the most helpful and understanding professors I've had. If you are struggling, communicate with her and she will help you. The assignments are very organized on Canvas. All quizzes and homework are online. Overall, she is a great professor!
Our entire class was confused with her explanations. We spent all of our time trying to figure out teh concepts on our own. We had trouble understanding her. Her answers do not answer the question. Frustrating when you want to understand how to keep up with the course assignments. She's nice, but cannot teach.
Great professor! Quiz every week, no final!
She's one of the best lecturers I have ever met. She's prepared and spoke very fast with extensive knowledge in the global health area. Unfortunately, she does not give out A's. I am an A student in other classes when it comes to papers, but got B's and C's with her. With active participation and not missing class, she still deducted 20 points.
awful! she never replies to email for being online teacher you think she would but nope. her paper guidelines are ridiculous, her information is outdated regarding the work needed to be done. she narrows a 10 page paper to 2 pages but expects the same amount of information. the class is not hard but this professor makes it hard.
The professor is very nice but assigns too much homework for a 300 level class. Exams & other papers are graded like you are in an English major, so get ready to lose points! The class requires 12- 20 hrs of outside work, like volunteering, as well as attending events to get extra credit to get your grade up. Easy to talk with if needed.
If youre fulltime or a STEM major, avoid this class. Heavy course load for 300 level. Unprepared lectures, will wait til the last 10 mins to explain exams, projects, or assignments. Mandatory 20 hrs of service. Meeting the requirements for papers and projects will only get you a C. Exams are assigned with only 1 week advance. Watch the news instead
so many papers due! tough grader! it's already the end of the semester and i still don't know my grades for projects/papers that I turned in the beginning of the semester. how are we supposed to do better in the class if we don't know how we are doing throughout the semester. doesn't give much feedback either.
I took her online class and the work itself was not hard but u will not receive feedback. I constantly emailed her about why I would receive certain grades and she rarely replied. I ended having to figure it myself most of the time. There are about three short papers and one online presentation. The work is not hard but their lack of communication
Hold your breath trying to finish this class. Had to write a dozen papers about the same thing. Tests/Quiz. Try EC an extra two papers and she'll maybe give 0.1% for each. Unclear, intense, with loads of anxiety making work loads harder. 20 work hours. It is impossible to get an A. Unfair, unrealistic, unfriendly-should be a 5 unit class at least.
If you think you're taking an easy health class, think again! She focuses on APA formatting way too much, deducts points for no reason, way too many papers that are super confusing! unclear due dates and confusing instructions that leave you lost & frustrated. Her instructions are links within links that make no sense. Very frustrating & confusing!
Probably the worst professor Ive had. She assigns so much work, readings, and quizzes that she grades pretty harshly. Her papers need to be written in a certain manner, its almost like an english class also. This class was a lot of work, isnt a 300 level class at all. Aside from the workload there are also volunteering hours that need to be done
I took her online so that affected my experience. She was clear in her grading criteria but at times not in her assignment descriptions! They were long and repetitive without enough advice. Her weekly quizzes/exams came from the book and lecture slides were stressful because they were so specific yet straightforward. Essay were ok. Email for help
You will have to work for this class, but honestly nothing that can't be managed. She is actually super nice and will give back great feedback. You just have to be managing time really well in this class.
After my 4 years of csun, I took her class and she is easily the worst professor in csun that I took. Leagues worse. She wouldn't accept any of my workshops, graded harshly until the last week's (idk why), and gives out sometimes up to 6 or 7 assignments a week. I ended up not seeing some on canvas but wouldn't let me turn in late (tech issue) 0/5
Wasn't a fan of this prof. She is extremely unclear and assigns way too much work for one class. You have 3 days to do a week's worth of work. Harsh grader gives no feedback and classes are a total bore-fest. Do not take her. I thought this would be an interesting class to take but oh boy was I wrong.
Took her online class and her Canvas page was overly-complicated and confusing. It took me *forever* to find the list to find out when my presentation was due. Doesn't grade in a timely manner and feedback is not given. So if you're doing something wrong, you're not gonna know until it's too late. Only C I've ever gotten at CSUN.
She is just your average college professor. She teaches a very boring & information heavy course, and then blasts you with assignments. Her grading style isnt that great as shell give you a consistent grade on repetitive assignments & then shell randomly give you a couple poor grades on them, & her tests are poorly designed & easy to fail.
I learned a lot from this class. There is weekly homework but nothing too heavy, and two three-page essays in the semester. Although I seemed to do well on the essays, i feel like her grading was a bit picky and too tough.
She was nice but when it comes to essays is a tough grader. I passed and liked she gave you two times to take quizzes. Lectures are clear and she was actually pretty sweet and communicated well.
The most absent professor I have ever had and would not answer emails. This class would be easier if she gave feedback on how to improve your work, but you just end up confused every time. Don't take unless it is your only option. Weekly readings, discussions, and quizzes. 1 3 page paper with 4 resources, and 1 4 page paper with 8 resources.
This teacher is unaware that people have a life outside of her class. She expects you to read at least 25-40 page books/ chapters per week. In addition to watching movies and having other readings. She is a very tough grader. I wish I had never taken her class.
One word to describe her class is boring. Class material, lectures and assignments were just boring and borderline confusing. Lectures were long, boring and sped through. 4 exams and 4-5 assignments make up your grade. go to class and you'll pass just hard to stay on track bc it's so boring:/
Be prepared for long boring lectures. If you need more time on an assignment because you are going through something, she will not care and not extend a due date for you. Does not allow late work at all. Assignments were worth very little points so if you get a bad grade on one assignment, your grade would drop heavily. Attendance is a MUST.
stay away if you can not worth it 0/10
If you don't have to take this class, don't. I have taken several classes for college and know how the system works. This class was one of the hardest I've taken for absolutely no reason. All tests/quizzes were averaging 50%, I'm not exaggerating. And Community service hours are needed for this class... Absolutely horrible.
If you're taking this course to fill your schedule with an elective, think twice about choosing this professor. Incredibly hard in grading, will knock off miniscule amount of points with no explanation as to why, and gives no feedback, so you have no idea what it is you need to fix/work on. Worst mistake ever in choosing this professor...
The professor is kind, takes a while to grade and her feedback in minimal. Readings, lectures, and quizzes on the same topic can be redundant. Quizzes have 2 attempts and are open-notes. Answers are in the slideshows or textbook, but sometimes she'll change up one specific word to make it a trick question, so read carefully.
Stay away. She tries to lower your grade how ever she can.
Professor was very hard to follow during lectures. Long wait for emails and harsh grading. Extra credit options but are very time consuming. Reading is also heavy if you are taking other classes and annotated notes are required weekly along with quizzes and assignments unrelated to course. Do not recommend.
She seems like a nice person but gives and extreme extreme extreme amount of work.
god awful professor, too political, this class is twitter liberalism 101. makes up assignments and group work as she goes. the whole class is confused on what she's talking about. 4 assignments per week & doesn't say how much theyre worth. constantly interrupts you as you're talking & speaks erratically as if shes having a panic attack.
Avoid 100%
You couldn't pay me to take this class again. Did CSUN have a shortage of Public Health Professors? Did she bribe CSUN with money to teach this class? I guess we'll never know. If you want to develop a perpetual migraine then take this class! 0/5 stars
This is by far the worst professor I have ever had. Lisa, if you see this review, I hope you take it as a learning opportunity to improve or simply quit your job. You have much to improve; lectures sucking, your assignments are unclear, and your due dates are unrealistic. There is only a 350-letter limit, or I would write way more. #Firstreview
Whatever you do, do not take this professor. If you want your experience at CSUN to be a good one and you want to enjoy your semester stay away from taking any courses with her because there is an undeniably excessive amount of work, and lots of pressure that comes with it as well.
She is genuinely a bad professor. I'm sure she is a smart person and very knowledgeable in the field, but some people should not be allowed to teach. Her assignments are "busy work" and she does not know how to communicate at all. She sets up everyone for failure week in week out. It's impossible to get a good grade for every assignment. Ego talk
Do yourself a favor and avoid this professor no matter what :) I'm generally an A student but this professor will do everything to drop your grade for no reason. She's also biased. Do not take her! I should've listened to the reviews.
She always contradicts herself and gets upset when you ask her any simple questions about assignments. Someone asked for an extension on an assignment, and not only did she not give the extension, but she shortened the original deadline. She also always blames her poor attitude and lack of organization on technical difficulties or having migraines.
I am currently staring at one of her assignments right now and I can't get myself to start on it. I gave up on this class but I need to pass. I genuinely do not want to do it. Instead of working on her homework I decided to leave another bad review because I cannot stand the thought of someone taking her class.
Literally everyone in my class despises this professor. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS
Oh my god just don't take this class. The professor grades hard and doesn't explain why, gives extremely long and BORING lectures, and gives one quiz every week. These quizzes would be fine if they weren't horribly worded. She gives grades like 1.9/2 or 5.75/6 with no explanation. I wish I had checked the reviews before taking this class.
RELEASEEE MEEEE FROM THIS CLASS
For some odd reason, she doesn't have the Student Evaluation of Faculty so I now have to give her bad reviews on here everyday. Do not take this professor pls.
Rude person. She is very biased. Always talks over people and hates being wrong.
Worst professor I've had at CSUN. Bad attitude and doesn't give any feedback for assignments. Terrible, do not take any of her classes...
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Worst attitude. I regret taking her class.
Worst professor I've taken at CSUN. Lectures are soooo long and she doesnt explain assignments. For all assignments, she expects us to figure it out ourselves and if we asked question, she would have attitude back to us. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
By far the worst professor I've ever had. Her grading system makes no sense and she gives no feedback at all. Her lectures are also incredibly boring, which make class a pain to sit through. She doesn't really teach, she just says stuff and hopes we remember all of it. I don't know how she's still working as a professor. Avoid at all costs.
Harsh grader. Very harsh, docks any points with no feedback. Reading is very heavy.
She is extremely unorganized. Hates being wrong, teaches based off her own experiences which makes it EXTREMELY hard to relate the topics to the readings. Gives weekly Critical Thinking assignments, which she doesn;t grade. Also she is NEVER accessible to walk about grades, assignments, or anything. Her office hours are nonexistent.
Dr.C's caring and ready to help everytime you struggle. She's a person who values in-process more than results so attendance and participation are necessary even if your grade is not great, she will always grade your efforts. I don't deny that she's a tough grader but whoever says she's bad and does not teach well is because those do not study.
Just found out today that she's teaching another class I'm taking this semester. I hate that it doesn't show the professor when you're enrolling. This is my absolute nightmare!!!!!! I'm dropping her class ASAP
NEVER take this class as a GE. You have to do so much reading for a general class that most likely has nothing to do with your major. A lot of the class is just fake it till you make it, there is mandatory volunteering hours and professor just reads off the slides. Attendance is part of your grade and quizzes are based on more than the chapters.
To everyone who is taking this professor this semester, I wish you the best of luck.... Drop while you still can :) I promise you she's the worst.
Very self serious. Makes you do outside of class service hours as part of a GE course. Terrible attitude towards all students.
One thing to say is that she can be an ok teacher for some. But sadly I'm not one of them. Again every student is different so I will showcase some issues I've had. 1, She locks grades leaving you unaware of your current grade. 2 She also requires you to participate in 10+ hrs of community service. 3, Her canvas page is hard to navigate.
I wished I looked at rate my professor before selecting this class. If you have any outside life or job that is extremely time consuming then I suggest not taking her courses. She is extremely neglectful about her emailing. Often requiring more than one email to get her attention.
Chaudhari is one of the worst professors that you could take. And its not that her class is difficult however she is difficult. She is very biased in terms of how she grades and she is extremely lazy. takes multiple emails to get her attention and even then she'll forgot to reply. shows up late to by about 45 min to her own office hours.
Came back to give another review cause why not, shes the worst teacher ever.
Don't take this unless you want to do 10hrs of gardening/volunteering in addition to the class workload
WORST TEACHER EVER. DO NOT TAKE HER. I wish I had looked up rate my professor before taking this class because she's the worst. Way too many writing assignments for this class and it's just a level 100. She takes herself way too seriously and loves to hear herself speak and will ramble on forever. Very boring classes.
Extremely rude and criteria makes no sense. Respect your students. She must've bribed csun to let her be here
Please never teach again, way to much work for a class that shouldnt even need. I just took this class for an elective and it was harder than any other teacher. I really hope you never teach again and figure out why you make everyones life so hard. And maybe stop speaking over your students
Her assignments are almost always unclear, she claims that she will post the guidelines and then does not. I also had to do 10 hours of service work for this class, which is a little ridiculous for a GE.
This professor grades very unfairly. She will make you do volunteer work and say that she's making you do this for your own good. It is not volunteer work. She will grade you on it. Will give extra credit randomly without giving students the chance to try and receive it. Unlikable.
The professor never gives you a clear guideline or rubric on how she grades in assignment. This university should honestly make every professor create a rubric for how they are grading assignment so that each section is met. This professor grades unfairly as she gives extra credit to random students without giving other students a chance.
Dr Chaudhari's assignments make no sense, she does not answer emails in a timely manner, she insists you come to every class, but fills up class time with outside speakers who have no relation to the course material, she is extremely rude to students, grades toughly without giving any feedback or posting a rubric, and runs her Canvas page poorly
This was the worst professor I've had at CSUN. She never grades in a timely manner (I graduated last week and still do not have a final grade in the class), she stated that we have to email her 3 times in order for her to respond (she still never emails back), and she will have surprise assignments that do not show up on your to-do list. AVOID HER!
This professor will blame EVERYTHING on IT issues, even though I have never experienced these technical problems with any professor in my 4 years of college. She has been reported numerous times to the HSCI department and never takes accountability when she is wrong. Please never avoid this professor.
If you are looking for feedback on assignments, you won't get it. She will give the most insane grades and will never write any comments on why you received that grade. Her grading system makes no sense and when you email her for clarification she will NEVER respond to you. She also doesn't follow the syllabus. GOOD LUCK.
It's the end of finals and she doesn't post grades, very slow with everything including writing emails. Word of advice to anyone who has the option to take her class.. DONT. I genuinely never have met someone more intolerant than her and I did 4 years active duty.
She said grades are posted and still not posted… just finding another reason to hate on her. Please leave the teaching world.
do not take this class with this professor. i cannot stress this enough. i took her course for 439. she will not give you any feedback, instruction is always unclear, never answers emails, expects you to read her mind. i dont know how else to put it. i gained more stress than educational material in this class.
If youre reading this please do not take her course. For a random ge course she makes you do volunteer work for 6 hours over the course of a semester, not only that but she is just bad at teaching. She makes you do physical labor at the garden, grades super late, doesn't post assignments on the calendar, doesn't allow late work. Do not take.
Grading was extremely unfair. Assignments required a lot of time and typing but were only worth 5–6 points or even less, which did not match the workload at all. The professor graded harshly and provided little to no feedback, so it was unclear how to improve. Emails were rarely answered. Overall, the class was frustrating and not worth the effort.
