Professor Concilio is an amazing clinical instructor. She is so helpful and she taught me so much! I was so nervous for my first clinicals at the hospital but she helped calm my nerves. She expects a lot from her students, but is very approachable.
Professor Concilio has been my favorite professor in the nursing program. She expects a lot of her students, but she gives you the tools to succeed. She is easily the most intelligent person I have ever met and she really inspired me to want to be the best nurse I can be. I hope I have her again in N400. Work your butt off, you won't regret it.
Concilio is really hard on her students. She made a few people in my group cry, which I thought was totally unnecessary. She is very smart, but honestly, N206 is far from critical care. Students might learn a bit more if they're not scared of their instructor!
Favorite instructor in Nursing School so far! I seriously don't know where all that knowledge comes from with her. Even though she was challenging, she provided an environment that was great for learning. She gives strategies from learning the tough stuff and is always supportive when working with her.
This teacher is way too hard on her students. She gives poor feedback and makes students cry and then writes them up for it. Get ready to work your butt off in this class and watch everyone else have a great time at their clinicals. I hated second semester and it's only because I had her as an instructor.
Very informative and has a huge knowledge base. Listen to her and ask questions! She will teach you so much and is very approachable. Great teacher
She cares, but isnt the best. Use her lectures for what TOPICS of chapters you should know, then study with the book. I got B+s and As on exams. Explanations of systems arent always clear in lectures, can talk in circles or talk at length about patient situations that arent super relevant or useful. Online textbook questions are on exams.
Podcasts take a significant amount of time. Dont know how this is 2 units lol. Explanations in podcasts arent clear/accurate at times, especially with mechanisms of action. Grades harshly on projects for mistakes with APA/spelling or with the loudness of Spark videos (also in Patho). Know drugs and patient teaching. Quiz q's on exams.
There are 2 hour lectures, Postcasts (30min - 1hour usually), book reading, various drugs to memorize and more for each class week. Information on Podcasts are inaccurate sometimes and are not in the test so read the book and study off the book. Unorganized and poorly structured class. Instructor needs to remodel her notes and test.
She does not even know basic physiology, yet she is teaching pathophysiology. She teaches the most superficial information, which actually made this class very difficult, because we come into the class more background than what she even taught us. Her information is often inaccurate and disorganized. She also refuses to acknowledge her mistakes.
She makes us watch podcasts & take notes before coming to class. Her class is extremely disorganized, making the information harder to learn. She also makes mistakes in her podcasts, but does not fix them, so they're often wrong. She puts random material that you won't know unless you've actually worked in the clinical settings on exams. Read TxtB.
Okay clinical instructor, but horrible as a professor. Does not listen to to hear us, she listens to respond. Whenever we ask her questions, she did not answer the real questions; she just talks about related stuff. Lecture is mandatory, but useless. The book and videos she showed in class are much more informative. I learned nothing from her.
Most learning is from podcasts outside of class. Test questions are NCLEX style. Some information is inaccurate (constantly contradicts herself in podcasts and lectures), so I use textbook to clear up misunderstandings. She tries, but is horrible at explaining concepts and answering questions. Don't let the 2 units fool you, it feels like much more
Terrible professor. Podcasts and lectures are poorly structured and disorganized. Gives poor feedback. Expect us to know random information on exams that is not even applied to the class material. I love pharmacology as a subject, but she made the class a really horrible experience. Does not listen to students. Often gets sidetracked in lectures.
This class makes you work for it. Be prepared to study outside of class a lot in order to pass. I didn't read the textbook, but utilized the practice questions. She does end up curving the class at the end.
She is ridiculous. There have been so many occasions where she has taught us material that she doesn't test on, and goes on to test us on stuff that wasn't supposed to be on the tests. She's unorganized and vague. She doesn't prepare you for tests at ALL. I'm very upset about her being the professor for this course. If I could give a 0, I would.
Friendly enough, but has absolutely NO business being a professor. Disorganized notes and lectures, often teaches incorrect information (and is hardpressed to ever correct herself), and writes very difficult, obscure tests that hardly reflect the actual material taught.
She is extremely unorganized and contradicts herself all the time. You grade is dependent on exam averages, although there is only 2 exams and a final. She gives two projects which don't even matter because it is all about the exams. She is very caring, just does not know how to teach. She teaches pharm in patho, and vice versa. Be ready to die.
She's a nice person, but a horrible educator. She is unorganised, contradicts herself a lot, and spends a lot of time explaining things that are unrelated to pharm. The tests are crazy hard and I usually felt like there was no point studying because whatever I would study wouldn't be on the test. She made it horrible to try and learn this subject.
Concilio's lectures are scattered, unorganized, and she goes off on a lot of random tangents that waste time. This pathophysiology course could've been cool but she is so vague and usually uninteresting. Her rubric criteria for projects have no guidelines yet she grades really hard. Tests are pretty fair, but she really shouldn't be a professor.
This class was incredibly hard however any pharmacology class is going to be that way. Concilio tried to make it as interesting as she could and she was able to share many great stories she has from her experience in the nursing field. Expect to study very hard, read the book, re watch the lectures and watch the podcasts!
Although she will tell you attendance isn't mandatory, it is. You must be present to answer her CourseKey questions in order to receive credit, in total this is about 10% of your grade. Also, her lectures and podcasts are unorganized and not always the material she tests on.
You can't just read the txt book & you can't just listen to the podcasts, you need a combination of the 2 which is hard & VERY time consuming. I just listened to podcasts & did practice Q's in the txt book & overall got an "A" b/c she curves. 1st 2 exams were easy & then out of nowhere she blind sided us with the 3rd exam that most did poorly on.
She makes the material more complicated then it should be. You can study and know the material, but she will still throw some questions that she never talked about in lecture or even mention in the textbook. She gives terms and objectives, which some of those terms are nowhere to be found, not on lecture, ppt or book.
pharm and patho are both hard. seems like she's a great nurse, but doesn't know how to teach. she contradicts herself a lot and doesn't let us know our grade until after finals. talks too much about stuff that is relevant to nursing, but not relevant to our tests/class. def hardest semester of my life bc the classes are so unorganized.
Not gunna lie, Concilio is a pretty tough professor. She expects a lot form you, but she does a really good job at being upfront with you and with prepping you for advanced classes. She's always available by email which is super helpful. Just be prepped to work hard and learn ALOT
Professor Concilio is one hard clinical instructor for 206, but she really really teaches you a lot. She expects a lot from you, but really cares about her student and makes them feel prepared going on. Tough grader but very caring
This is where 4.0s come to die and you find yourself repeating the phrase that Cs get degrees. Material is unorganized, test questions are obscure and youre expected to know information that wasnt taught. Textbooks are your friend.
She really knows her stuff for nursing and gets you excited for the profession. That being said, her emphasis on nursing before weve established our foundation in pharm/patho can make it a little difficult to learn the material. Shes very nice and probably an amazing clinical instructor/ nurse though. She definitely cares about her students.
Concilio is super funny, but her way of lecturing does not work for anyone. She goes off on tangents and her slides are informative. The exams are 50 MC questions and they are so random. Lots of questions cover things she never mentions and there isn't any clear way to study for the tests. I watched the podcasts before class but never read the book
Pharm is a super hard class and Concilio makes it less excruciating. Watch the podcasts BEFORE going to lecture and rewatch the lectures before the test. Focus on the drugs that she goes over in class because she doesn't test on all of them. GET READY TO STUDY HARD!
Lots of information!! Watch the podcasts before going to lecture and take good notes. Do not try to memorize every detail about the drugs, know your prototype and the most relevant information about each medication. I read the book to clarify any information from the podcasts and I found this to be really helpful for the exams.
easily the WORST professor i have had in my entire college/ school history. she has no business in being an instructor. does not know what shes taking about, yet acts like she does. please mentally prepare your mental health, because she will ruin your desire/passion to become a nurse. her exams are not what she lectures on. 10/10 do not recc.
While I can say she is very passionate and a nice lady, she is the most disorganized teacher I have ever had. I swear it's like she puts her slides on shuffle and starts talking. Study (aka memorize everything) the podcasts for pharm and the lectures for patho, that's all I did and got an A. Good luck!
I was so excited to start nursing school and this professor made my life a living hell for the past 2 semesters. I wish I could say to take another professor however you don't get that choice in nursing school. I did well in every single class I took from her (3 total) yet she tried her best to fail me. Overall, no business being a professor.
Ok so she does not know how to teach. Her lectures are completely disorganized and the content of her tests is not consistent with the material taught in the lectures.
Dr. Concilio gives extra assignments (return demo + O2 deliverables) and grades harsher on the case study. But, it was all doable though as long as you make the time for her class. She's super passionate about teaching and puts in a lot of effort into this class. Though this class was difficult, I feel more prepared since she was my professors
By far the worst professor I've ever had. Grading is arbitrary, and she does not instill confidence in her students. She is condescending, stubborn, unprofessional, and gets involved in her student's personal lives. She created a false perception of me at the beginning of the year, and worked off of that to grade unfairly. SO SORRY IF U HAVE HER.
Dr. Concilio is one of the worst professors I have ever had. She is incredibly disorganized, lacks compassion for her students, and has the most unclear teaching style I've ever experienced. Her grading is ambiguous and based on whether or not she likes you. Good luck if you are a high achieving student, she will knock you down until you break.
This is the most undermining, passive aggressive teacher I have ever seen in my life. I do not know a single student that enjoys learning from her because she does everything to make people's lives harder. She claims she will help with any questions but makes you feel stupid if you ask anything and she never makes sense.
HORRIBLE TEACHER HAS THE BIGGEST ATTITUDE PROBLEM EVER!!!! so unclear, embarasses every student, super disorganized id literally rather take a class with the devil
She is incredibly petty and has an attitude issue depending on the day. She doesn't respect her students and it almost seems like she wants to humiliate them. MULTIPLE assignments that are worth 0 or 1 point that will take you literally hours to complete. I regularly cry before and after this class. Sucks the passion out of nursing. Good luck.
Terrible professor
Contradicts herself and the book every lecture, but asking questions will leave you more confused. Tests on material that was not covered. Day before group projects are due she mentions requirements not mentioned in directions/rubric then blames all the students for "procrastinating" and not reading her mind. Never admits if she made a mistake.
Professor Concilio is one of the worst professors I have ever had. From the moment I walked in her classroom, I felt disrespected and belittled. She does not want to see her students succeed and goes as far as telling people they "aren't cut out for nursing". She does nothing but talk down on her students, making them feel like they are worthless.
I've cried more times over how awful this professor is than I did over my last breakup. She has made me feel incapable of being a good nurse. The sound of her manipulative and degrading voice makes my skin crawl. I wouldn't wish her presence on my worst enemy. She finds joy in making her students miserable and I genuinely feel sick looking at her.
THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR THIS WOMAN. I GENUINELY HATE THIS WOMAN HOW THE HELL DOES SIMPLE APA MISTAKES WARRANT A 60/80
I don't have this professor but my nursing roommates do and they cry every night about what a stupid idiot concilio is! She grades horribly and is rude to her students when they are asking genuine questions.
I've HAD it with this professor. Remember when you were taught mistakes were ok? Well not in her eyes. 3 simple APA mistakes such as putting "and" instead of "&" or misplacing a period warrants a 20% deduction on a group project. She is impossible to please and has nothing better to do with her sad life than nitpick every little detail.
Also had her for N206. I am now a senior in the nursing program and I can say that those were the hardest classes I've had (because of the professor NOT the material). To any future nursing students that are reading these reviews and sweating, Concilio is incredibly unforgiving and difficult. Get through these classes and I promise it gets better.
This was the by far worst professor I've ever had! This class and N304 were hell. Lectures for hours straight and the topics she spends the majority of class time on are not even on the exams. The group projects are worth way too much of the total grade and she is very unforgiving, has favorites, etc. I don't know how she is still a professor here.
I've never had a teacher so passionate and caring about her students. She is one of the best teachers I've ever had and I've never learned so much before until her lab. Yes this lab is hard and it's a lot of work, but your be so grateful you had these assignments and busy labs because it all comes together. Most caring and motivating professor ever
This class was only hard because Concilio has really disorganized slides with hard material to learn. You definitely need to study a lot for this class as there are mandatory videos to watch if you want to pass. You always feel like you haven't studied enough even though you probably have. Definitely be prepared to spend lots of time on this class.
Patho is definitely easier than pharm because there are less tests and her tests for patho are more straight forward and simple. The lecture is 3 hours long and you have to attend and take notes to study. But studying for this class is easier as it is more concepts and not heavy memorization. Concilio's lectures are still disorganized but better.
Pharm is hard but doable with the resources Concilio gives (TAs/podcast/OHs). Watch & take notes on her podcasts before class to help you understand what's going on in lecture (my best tip). She can contradict herself but ask for clarification & she's more than happy to help you. It's a lot of work but you will learn a lot. Study with classmates!!!
I feel like I learned a lot from her, although she could be difficult at times, and often went on unrelated tangents. She was always nice and supportive when I spoke to her. Definitely is passionate about the profession and that shows. She also wore a butter costume on halloween.
Despite the difficulty of the class, Dr. Concilio explains the concepts pretty well and is more than willing to explain if you ask for help. Most of the test questions were pretty straightforward but sometimes there were questions on information that was barely mentioned. I personally had no problems with her and she was always very supportive!
If you want to do well in the class you really need to put the work in and CONSISTENTLY study since quizzes are every other week. It can be easy to fall behind since there are a lot of podcasts. The lectures were not as helpful as the podcasts but she does mention some important information for tests. Dr. Concilio was always willing to help.
Pharm was a very hard class but more doable than patho. Class consisted of useless lectures and lots of podcasts, memorization, and critical thinking. This with patho have definitely been the hardest classes I have ever taken. Go above and beyond and reach out for help. Memorize the drug important info and familiarize yourself with the podcasts!
Patho was def a class. Concilio mentions so much info during lectures but barely tests on it. Make sure you write down what she says during lecture and study the lectures for tests. This class is honestly more disorganized but the test questions are more straight forward than pharm. Make sure you don't let the first exam screw over your grade!
Her lectures are disorganized, she refuses to answer direct questions and most of the time I am convinced she does not really even know the course material. I highly recommend doing the terms and objectives before class and using the book as her lectures and course material are at a middle school level, while her tests exceed even her competency.
Concilio is a very tough professor. She will give you a "need to know" study guide, however, the material on her quizzes and exams are very different than what you study. Really make sure to listen what she says in lecture since that material is covered on the exams. Her class is very difficult, and has caused me so much stress this semester.
Good luck in this class, it was by far the hardest class I've taken, and if you screw up on her 2 exams then the best of luck on the final. All the information she taught us was third grade level, but her exams, oh that's a whole other story. I wish the professor was more easy on us, I could have done better in this class with the right professor.
Pharmacology is no joke. She gives you "need to know" and while they do help, you also need to take the time to consistently review the material and use the resources she gives or even resources outside of the course to help you out. As a person, she's nice as long as you step it up and reach out to her if you ever need help.
Worst professor! Her whole lecture is her talking in circles about things that will never be tested, this is for both Pharm and Path, and most of the time it's misinformation. Yapatron. Then she will assign assignments, won't mention them, and make them due at random times throughout the week, and won't budge on your grade if you miss them.
She's terrible. She is very condescending. She says she doesn't assign busy work but she keeps assigning busy work. And she nitpicks everything. Her lectures are worthless and she just yaps. You are better off studying it yourself and fill out the "need to know" and taking notes on the podcast. I don't know why they haven't fired her yet.
The bad reviews are likely from students that didn't put much effort into her classes. She does discuss things that aren't tested on, but there is a reason for that. You shouldn't be a nurse if you don't know as much as you can to SAFELY care for your Pt. There's a bit of busy work, but she offers feedback to revise. I loved her. Just work hard!
Patho is a DIFFICULT class, so I don't know why people on here expect an easy pass. Work hard in this class. She truly cares about her students and her students ARE learning. Test questions were 50-50 in that some incredibly easy, some hard--but that's what school is. If you're expecting an easy drive-thru to a BSN you should prob drop out now.
pretty sure the good reviews on here are the professor herself lol no actual student would ever say those things. concilio is horrible and makes her class way more difficult than it needs to be. she is dishonest, rude, and condescending. she goes on random tangents during lecture. the class content is very interesting but she makes it horrid.
idk what the people who left good reviews are on. review on may 1, 2024 was def written by the prof. concilio is all around not great. class is unnecessarily hard, content is very interesting but she makes it horrible. all students work very hard in this class and still dont see results. she is the reason people hate nurses and nursing professors.
I have heard NO student EVER say something positive about her. she is so condescending and you can TELL she lives to terrorize her students and tries to disguise it with the "nice teacher act". no, she's just a rude. do better concilio. if you were my nurse, a sitter would have to be assigned to me.
This professor is not as bad as everyone says. She's a very caring teacher and is always available to help if you have any questions. Make sure to fill out the "need to know" documents for the quizzes. Pharm is a hard class, but not impossible to pass. Podcasts are a must-watch if you want to pass the class.
Concilio does seem to go on a tangent during lecture, but anything she misses on the slides are available to read on your own. Grade is heavily based on 3 exams,so I recommend going over the recorded lectures and powerpoints before exams. She can be a tough grader and there is a group project that's worth a lot. Put in the work and you'll pass.
There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews on Concillio, but I thought this class was passable if you study hard. The professor recently released grade announcements and 26 students ended up with an A in Patho, 41 with a B. While 37 students (more than HALF of the class) ended up with an A in Pharm. So take these reviews with a grain of salt!
Patho is not an easy course, but I felt that this class was made to be more challenging than it should be. Too many assignments. Questions on exams hardly reflect lectures. Had to rely on other resources to study for exams. I get assigning homework, but at least make it relevant to the content that will actually be asked on exams.
Lectures are poor and you have to rely on podcasts. Quizzes have questions that are either extremely easy, or impossible to answer. She uses a test bank so your grade is based on luck of which questions u get. She will never admit she is wrong and just belittles you when you go to office hours. Many assignments are a waste of time. Good luck!
Not the worst class but could be made a lot better. U are tested on stuff you don't learn about. The group project is not graded on content but on APA formatting, and it's worth way too much of your grade. Lots of useless, time consuming assignments. Lectures are confusing and lots of yap. Your best bet is to memorize slides and pray.
horrible prof, exams do not reflect lecture content, and goes on tangents during lecture. had a group project and would take off major points for tiny missed details in citations like not adding a period. overall not helpful and concilio makes the class way harder than necessary. all good reviews are clearly written by her and not a student
Lots of these reviews are bad, but Concilio's Pharm class was pretty doable in my opinion. Use her quizlet to study the medications, watch and take notes on the assigned podcasts, and you will be fine. Her quizzes often have weirdly worded or tricky questions but a lot of the time you can use critical thinking/common sense to figure them out.
Your understanding should be guided by the podcasts while I mostly listened to lectures w/o taking notes. Also use the textbook for extra med. info. or to clear up things because podcasts are chapter summaries. Learn drugs by prototype, therapeutic/pharm classes, mechanism, use, adverse effects, contraindications, and patient teaching. Not as bad!
Course material is dense but focus on the podcasts and study guides and you'll do fine. She's really approachable and friendly, so definitely go to her office hours! Work is manageable just make sure you stay on top of it because it's easy to fall behind.
She is the terrible! She make us resubmit homework even when we got a good grade.
Her podcast are outdated and she is always contraindicating herself with her own material. She will say one thing in her podcast and a completely different thing in lecture. If you go to her office hours, she will never admit she is wrong and will make an answer based on her own judgement at that time even though her material say otherwise.
Nice personality, not nice professor though. Felt like 5+ unit class. Podcasts are very outdated and she likes contraindicating herself. Shadowhealth is absolutely worthless, waste of time assignment that took hours to complete and she barely tested on it on the quizzes. As a student, I shouldn't be figuring out whats the right/wrong info 24/7!!
YIKES!!! She's quite passive-aggressive and condescending in her feedback. It's one thing to agree she's intelligent, but she definitely doesn't preach the "therapeutic communication" aspect that gets drilled in our heads. Don't let your guard down with this one.
Wording on exams and understanding what she is asking can be confusing, but there will be straightforward questions. Exam content can differ from her podcasts. She is very kind & accessible outside the classroom- I recommend going to her OH for support. MEMORIZE the med map bc the scenario questions are based on them. DO WELL ON FIRST 2 EXAMS!
This class was one of the most difficult classes I've taken, not because of the content (Yes, pharm is supposed to be hard), but because of the quizzes/tests. If you want an A, you need to do well on quizzes & the final. The final is a crazy percentage of your grade... I studied & retained everything so well yet struggled to get high test grades.
STUDY HARD
Pharm is hard with all the memorization but Concilio makes the material easy to grasp with her podcasts. This class can be hard if you are not well prepared each week, so make this class one of your number one priorities! The final is a huge percentage but the questions werent that bad.
