Her classes are challenging, but if you read all of the material, do the response papers and participate in class discussions it's not a bad class.

She's a very good person with very enlightened views. While you can get by "just doing the assingments" I'd suggest taking her class if you like to get involved in discussions, for new viewpoints, and learn for yourself instead of cramming for tests.

AWESOME teacher. she's out for the fall of '05 but may be back in the spring of '06.

She's an interesting professor with a nice style of teaching. I liked the response papers and use of webct, and how criticism and help were given where needed by peers. The discussions help bring the class together (as well as separate it if they get out of hand) but hearing other points of view is nice. Challenging but fine if you do the work.

Best class ever....I recommend her for anyone. I learned more from her and her class than I have in years combined.

Dr. Davis is my favorite teacher ever. She is an unprecedented instructor who is very easy to get along with and welcomes new ideas and thoughts that her students bring. Her classroom is always a welcomed atmosphere and she has a love for teaching.

Very laid back intelligent person. Most classes end up being free for all discussions or debate about social issues. Upside: good use of webct and curriculum outline. Downside: Can't think of one. Easy A class if you like debate and can write at all.

I found her style of teaching interesting but at times confusing. She seems to want to make everything about feminism. I got frustrated with her negating her "free spirit" attitude of writing. "I applaud every style of writing, but this is how I do it..." Like a good class if you've just had 1301 but careful if you've been AWOL for a while.

Dr. Davis is a great teacher. She is really big on class partcipation. She really makes the class interesting. The only down side is there is only one paper and a final project so you paper counts a lot. Luckly she gave our class the opportunity to rewrite the paper for a better grade. She is a WONDERFUL teacher. Take her if you get the chance!

As everyone else is saying, she's very nice and friendly. Very passionate about literature! Made it interesting. But requires A LOT more reading and she has response papers due EVERY class period online. That was a hassal. Overall, she's very nice and understanding, but class participation and hw is above the norm

Very nice teacher, but her homework is ridiculous, unless you like reading 50 pages for each class meeting and writing response papers due after EVERY class meeting. Attendance is mandatory as well, hence the reading. Some have a love and gift for this, but analyzing the authors instead of the actual reading was boring.

Dr. Davis is an amazing teacher with the ability to draw you into the subject.

Dr. Davis is really helpful in any way she can be and is really good at getting the criteria of the class across to the students.

this teacher is awsome. she is really helpfull and her lectures are really fun. she does expect participation but it is fun to be involved. she likes everyone to have there own opinion and will only challenge you to make you thing. if you do the work and participate in class you get an A

Great teacher. Just do all your work and you'll get an A!! A lot of writing so if you dont like to write dont take her class. If you have had Professor Kelly Martin and liked her, she is the one who got Professor Davis the job, so thats should tell you how great she is!! I loved her!!

Dr. Lisa Roy-Davis is a fabulous teacher. Her grading method is unique and very helpful. It demonstrates her belief that writing is a process. She is creative and and wants her students to think deeply about things. She wants class participation - so speak up! She is always more than willing to help students. Take her for your English classes!

Great professor! Is passionate about the subject and is a great communicator. She gives an option of taking a final exam, creative project or research paper. All other grades are written papers. A great alternative for those with test anxiety. An alternate opportunity for a great learning experience. I enjoyed reading what was assigned.

I recommand to take Prof. Davis for any english class. She is a great and helpful teacher. She expects you to read and discuss what you read in class. If you do your work, you will recieve a good grade.

PROF. DAVIS ROCKS!! I LOVED this teacher. She is really helpful, has a unique and helpful way of teaching, does make you write papers, but really helps you understand what your reading, writing, and analyzing! SHE'S worth money folks, she's one of the best teachers I've had at CCCC!

This lady is Awesome! If you are interested in learning and believe you that hard work pays off, than this lady will challenge you and shove you past your comfort threshold! I learned so much more than writing from her. I hope I can take more classes with her. Maybe we can petition to get her to teach night classes! Atleast in the summer?

If you're willing to put forth an effort than Mrs. Davis is the right teacher. She loves students who speak up,give an opinion,and work hard. She's willing to work with you and makes you read a TON. If you don't like reading get out of her class. She'll explore ideas in class and makes you think. I got an A but it wasn't that easy.

Professor Davis taught me alot, she really does care about how her students do. She also chooses not to have class on fridays if you take her mon wed fri class. She loves memoir and really brought an interest to me in memoir. As long as you put in an effort, you will do well

I LOVED Professor Davis. She did a lot of memoir which I came to realize i LOVED and I've recommended her to friends who've taken her as well and liked her. She is really interested in you doing well and will do whatever it takes to get you there. She's a fun lady! DEFINATELY TAKE HER YOU WON'T REGRET IT

She is an amazing teacher! You learn a lot from her. It's not an easy class by far. You write a lot, but it does really help you. She has on open door and makes it very easy to ask her questions. She defiantly changed my outlook for writing. I would defiantly recommend her!

Dr. Davis, is by far the best teacher I have ever had. She truly cares about her students. Her English class consisted of a couple of main papers and a portfolio. She gives no quizzes or test, but there are daily writing prompts, which are most opinion based. I recommend that everyone take at least one of her classes.

Absolutely fantastic! The honors American Literature course I took from her was unique, insightful, and interesting. She challenges you to do great work but also does everything imaginable to help you along. Highly recommended to all who want to learn.

She has a great attitude towards teaching and brings students into the academy with much to think about and helps you more then within the classroom...she helps with life lessons and tips for future classes.

I took American Literature from Prof.Davis. Easy A, extremely FUN, and you LEARN a lot! Your critical thinking will improve Highly! Just read the text materials she asks you to read (and they're interesting materials aswell!) - After taking her class, I was actually thinking about doing major in English LOL

Fantastic teacher with a refreshing approach to teaching. She respects her students and tried to apply Paulo Friere's concept of "problem posing" education to her class. Class is full of discussion based on the theme of trying to feel out your relationship with writing and reading as a way to form your own identity. Wonderful experience.

She is an awesome professor. She is full of brilliant new teaching styles that are helpful for any level reader. Take her and you will take more in then just english, but life lessons as well.

Professor Davis is without a doubt one of the best teachers I have ever had! She's incredibly helpful and loves to get feedback from her students. If you want to get an A you have to work hard, but she is always willing to help you. I highly recommend her!

Dr. Lisa Roy-Davis is a fantastic teacher! Be prepared to read a lot and write a 10 page paper but her class is great! She is a great teacher and I'd recommend her to anyone! She will push you to do your best and is extremely helpful! So far, she's been the best teacher I've ever had!

I really enjoyed this class although you do have put effort into your papers. The reading was enlightening and this class held my attention. She doesn't give specific criticism unless asked but when you do ask for help she goes out of her way to accomodate you. I would recommend Her to people who are good with putting in a little effort.

Dr. Davis is a great professor. Do not take her class unless you are willing to work for your grade. You will have readings every night in class. However, no tests. You turn in a 10 page research paper at the end of the semester. Lots of reading and lots of great, new material.

I recommend taking this course, but be prepared to work hard for your grade. I absolutely love this class, and Dr. Davis is a brilliant teacher. She requires four open response papers, no test, no quizzes, and one seminar length research paper. She motivates her students and will help anyway she can. TAKE HER!!!!!!!

She was not a bad teacher. At times, she tries way too hard to be inspirational, but her class is really straight forward, in terms of requirements. The essays aren't too bad at all, I took her honors class and it was a breeze.

Dr Davis is an awesome professor. She really loves what she is doing. The class is ALL WRITING. It is definitely worth taking because even if you hate writing, she will teach you ways how you can become a writer. Its NOT a blow off, but if you want to LEARN how to write for her class, or any class, she is the best pick! Grading is explained perfect

Great teacher! I feel like most of the work is done outside of class. Her lectures are interesting and she's a fan of groupwork! Be on time and don't miss class!

Avoid this class if you aren't prepared to spend everynight of the week and weekend reading. Mandatory 500 word essays almost every monday,this is a tue, thur class. Readings consist of 2-3 stories a week sometimes up to 80 pages and at minimum 50 per story. Notes required every day for grading. Contract forced to be signed just to get a B!

I enjoyed this class. There is reading everyday, but it's not as painful as everyone says it is. Professor Davis does NOT require tests. You will have to write, but it's about understanding what your reading. Dr. Davis is caring and will help anyway she can. I do believe this class will help me with writing throughout college. Great stuff!

Wonderful class... all those other comments must be slackers. Seriously, it's not that difficult read and write that's it. Professor Davis gives the class a B contract that pretty much is an easy B, if you follow the contract. This class is for serious scholars and value substance in learning. A MUST TAKE COURSE.

Extremely easy if you just write the essays. However, I deserved an A as well as a few other peers and none of us got one. I was extremely upset with how hard I worked to never receive an A or a 3/3 on my essays. Do not take this class if you're a slacker, you must read the essays and write. If you can do that, it's easy and fun!

I loved this class. Yes, it's work, but college in general is work. If you can't handle it don't go to school. The professor requires weekly essays but she is very clear on her expectations. She's one of my favorite professors.

Wonderful professor. Her assignments are very challenging, but her method of teaching really makes it enjoyable. I became a better writer in her class and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. She is always available for feedback and guidance whether through office hours or by email. She loves her job and it shows in her teaching.

She's definitely the best professor I have ever had. If you put in the work and show improvement in your critical thinking skills and writing skills, you're golden. She pushes you to do your best and is very nice and willing to work with you. No quizzes or tests. I learned SO much in this class and I'm very glad I took it.

She is very nice, but I had to spend about 5 hours+ per classroom meeting to make an A. If you do not want to major in English or do not know how to write do NOT take this class. She gives a lot of freedom on how to write, but very little direction on where to go. You will have to teach yourself how to compose and write or die trying.

Dr. Davis is a fantastic teacher. She's motivating and won't tolerate slacking. Her grading is not as critical as she makes it sound, but she's no pushover. Pay attention in class and you will go far. A very engaging lecturer, doesn't use powerpoint (yay!). A very fun class, a good bit of writing, but not overwhelming.

Dr. Davis is the best. Her discussions are engaging and thought provoking. There's tons of writing and reading. If you want to slack off, this isn't the class for you. We're in college people! It's not an essay venture but well worth the ride.

best english teacher. if you don't like to write papers don't take, writing papers to me is easier than a english lecture. she let you pick your topics and you had enough time to do them. keep up with your journals and go to class to do the journals and get assignment because she only posts the min on moodle so you have to go to class.

Dr. Davis, is really helpful. You wouldn't want to miss her class. If English class isn't your subject, or you're not that strong in writing essays, she's the professor you need to take. She really makes a change when it comes to writing essays, if you do everything in her class you will pass with an A.

I have not been in school since H.S and that's about 31yrs. So don't ask what my skill level of writing was before Professor's Davis class :(. Her approach of teaching was amazing. Her technique inspired me to write. I was not afraid to write badly :). Dr. Lisa Davis is a real Gem. She will push you to get the best of you. I will never forget her.

Her class was super interesting, but you should get ready to do reading and heavy analyzing. If you follow along week by week and read you should be fine. She has some quizzes so I would not advise skipping, but that is on you.

Dr. Davis makes you work for it, but I learned a lot and she really does care about her students. A very flexible professor as long as you communicate as well.

Professor Davis rocks!! although you should get ready to read and analyze a good amount I think it's so worth it. Her class is super fun and our class discussions are by far the most interesting and eye opening ever. She is very sweet and understanding and has a great sense of humor.

Professor Davis is very knowledgable, kind and dedicated to her students. Mostly easy As on the early drafts of the assignment but even as a solid writer, I never recieved an A on the provisional grade. However, this was never an issue as she always allows for one final extra credit draft to raise that grade and it never took long.

Knowledgeable professor and dedicated to her work. She's kind and will help you to do better in her class, but getting an A is very, very tough. I consider myself to be a strong writer, but she makes an easy class hard for no reason. I personally don't care for writing but I'm good at it, and I probably won't remember anything from this class.

Though the professor offers lots of assignments a week, she is easy grader. She's very pasionate. Take her when you have chance !!!
