She is a terrible teacher. Very monotone. She is not a people person, one on one skills are terrible. Do not take her. Tests are hard and she is boring. Do not take her.

this is the worst math teacher ever. The class was the most boring class i have ever taken. She was unwilling to help or explain things. She has a monotone voice which makes for a very boring class, which makes it hard to pay attention. Take chaisson, she is funny and wonderful.

not a people person at all, she should not be teaching. Any person who calls themself a teacher shoudl be willing to teach all types of people not just the two she favors in the class. She was unwilling to help me and a few others in the class.

I think it would be more effective to learn calculus from toad spawn. Students often repeat questions 3 or 4 times before they give up, because she does not listen to the question they are asking. She is also rediculously anal retentive about having to do things "her way." She's disrespectful, and does not encourage students to excel.

class was so bad that im actually going to report her. She was disrespectful, not helpfull, and actually told the class the first day that we have a good chance of failing DO NOT TAKE HER! there was only 6 students left at the end and 30 when we started.

To use just one sentence to describe my experience: AVOID HER AT ANY COST!! Never attempted to make students to understand the material, unapproachable for questions. Want to get your GPA down in a community college? She is your professor. Did I mention her voice is annoying as hell?

I took this class a couple of years ago and she was horrible. I would say stay away from her , she grades your homework, and if you have the right answer but wrong work it is wrong.I went to tutoring everyday almost and STILL FAILED. DONT TAKE HER!

Worst professor by far. I thought I cannot understand calculus at all just because of her. Guess what? I am graduating with honor as an Electrical Engineer. If I have known she was the issue, I would have graduated 2 years ago!! Anyone think I rate her down because I do not know Math is sadly mistaken, because my degree says it all. Thank you!

Lisa Dowining is a cross bread between a dragon and a dumbeldor from Harry Potter. She is annoying and horrible. I have a learning disability, i am slow learner and SHE was the worst teacher i ever had ever. whenever i ask question she really gets mad and she expects you to know everything, thats really frustrating. so i ended up retaken the class and got a passing grade because i had a teacher who can actually teach. do not take this TEACHER. Prof. Downing is absolutely awful!! She is very mean and negative! She told the entire class multiple times on the first day that we would all fail. I am an all A student but I dropped her class as soon as I could!! Assigned 350 problems to be due in four days! Ridiculous! DO NOT under ANY circumstances take her class!!! I

She was horrible. Went in for help multiple times, made me feel stupid every time. Never actually helped me learn anything.

Absolutely the worst teacher I have ever come in contact with. She doesn't care about anything and basically brags at the end of the semester about the fact that she only has two kids left in her class. Almost everyone either failed or withdrew before the class ended. Her tests were near impossible. Don't take this class with her.

I really think the numbers got to her head, , when showing examples she will randomly skip around and not show you how to do the problem. The method she shows you in class is completely different than the online homework. Her tests are literally impossible, if you value your GPA and money just do yourself a favor and choose someone else.

I ignored the ratings on this professor, and truly regret it. I am very strong in math and was taking college algebra as a refresher. Professor Downing made this class IMPOSSIBLE. She is NOT willing to help, ridicules you, and is very unclear. Do yourself a favor and do NOT take her! (ESP if you have a job- 500 math problems a week minimum for hw)

I extremely regret taking her class. She is very rude to students and constantly telling students that they will fail. Her voice is also very annoying. An unnecessary amount of homework that will not help with her tests. She expects 10+ hours a week to be spent on the class. Only take this class if you are sadistic. Worst professor ever.

She is a very VERY rude professor, she expects you to know everything, her tests are extremely difficult and you have zero hopes of passing it. If you don't study you are guaranteed to fail. Worst teacher I have ever had. Condescending, takes an hour the day after a test to make fun of people who got things wrong, can't hold the attention of the class, can't explain things well, never answers questions.

At first I was shocked that a professor lacking in the ability to teach would be able to teach, then it hit me. This is a community college. Overall treats you as an inept child, degrading, impossible test/quizzes. More importantly DOES NOT GIVE HELP WHAT SO EVER. I recommend Mark Hopkins. If you want a good laugh and want to lose money take this.

Absolutely horrible. She is the definition of evil. No help at all. She makes you feel stupid. If you go to her for help she will just bash on you for not doing good. When asking questions, she doesn't answer them, however she proceeds to remind you of how stupid you are. TESTS ARE HARD. Do not take her. I ignored her reviewS, biggest regret EVER!

She is strict about making sure you have AND use your calculator she will call you out on the fact that you don't have or are not using your calculator in class because its disruptive to the class. material is overall easy if you understand math, but there is a lot of homework.

I am a student that has always done extremely well in all of my math classes, until I had this professor. Tests are irrelevant to what she tells us we need to know. Her first words to the class were "Most of you will fail this class". I now understand why this was the only calculus class left at the Auburn Hills campus.

She is one of the hardest professors i have ever had. Her lectures are difficult, and she grades really hard. she knows her stuff, but she is really bad at communicating with students and explaining the material to the students. When you go talk to her in office hours, she makes you feel stupid. Guys do not take her. i repeat don't take her. 3:)

I took Downing last semester for Calc 1. I wish I would have read her reviews on this website before I signed up for the class. She is very knowledgeable in math, but she has no idea how to teach it to the students. There were roughly 25 students when the class began in the fall. At the end of the semester, there were only 8 left.

She teaches at a fast pace and she's boring so its hard to pay attention. She's rude and doesn't care if you fail. I slacked in my other other classes and worked my butt of and ended up with a C-. I was happy i even passed. This class caused me to have depression from feb until April - not exaggerating. Exams are impossible. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!

Undoubtedly the worst professor I've ever had. Bases all lectures off of an online course, taught by somebody else. ENJOYS belittling students. Constantly calling out students in class, ignores questions students ask, does not make herself available for extra help. Extremely disappointing excuse for an educator. Belongs in a different field.

This stupid lady doesn't know how to teach math. Her tests are so impossible to get A's on you could study all you want. Where can i start? I'm just glad she's retiring and no more students will have to deal with her again. unquestionably the worst and rudest professor I've dealt with my entire life. She is so picky about everything on an exam, she comes up with scenarios of students and mocks them and starts laughing at them, she gives no time for students to ask.

Worst teacher ever, it's absolutely impossible to get an A in her class. She's rude, picky and inconsiderate. On her tests you have to make sure you do everything HER way or you'll get a bad grade, she doesn't really care about your work she just cares how pretty it is. This is the worst class I've ever taken! Not only are her test impossible, but she is the strictest grader I've ever encountered. If you make even the smallest mistake, she marks the whole question wrong. If she even thinks you didn't show enough work, then you're getting a big fat zero! Plus you need to bring all your stuff or you get a zero. ugh
