This class moved at a really fast pace! there's a lot of information thrown at you at once. She's a nice person and an okay teacher, but if we had more time, it could have been better.
The class covers a lot, but Mrs. Durak is patient and willing to help. The amount of material to be covered is not up to her. She does a nice job trying to get through it all. You will not go home early.
Mrs. Durak was a very good professor. She explained eveything, and went at a pace that was slow enough so that everything was thouroughly explained, but fast enough so that we got through all of the materail that she had planned on getting through. I would recomend her for as a professor.
If you like to teach yourself stuff out of the book than this is the class for you. When she teaches a new method she only gives one example of it and quickly moves on. She is nice nad understanding and wants everyone to do good, but as a teacher shes not the best. The class was fast and not the easiest.I would recommend taking someone else.
i had her for 1540, shes a smart lady and very clear. however dont take her in spring or summer bc there isnt much time and she just rushes through everything. she'll solve problems on the board and wont tell you what she did, but expects you to know. only take her class in fall or winter or else you'll be rushed and wont understand****

I was forced to drop the class because I could not understand her. Nice and friendly, but for a math professor you have to be able to understand your teacher. C'mon OCC.

Very clear
Mrs Durak is a very good teacher. You have to cover alot of material but she explains it very well. She is nice and patient and will help yo you if you ask. The material is difficult but it should be, it's math!!! I would reccomend her to anyone.

She is an amazing teacher, it is so easy to get an A. She always gives extra credit after each test and she answers all your questions you have right before a test. I will take her again for any math i have in the future.

Durak is such a nice lady and she will help you with anything you need if you just ask she is very clear and VERY patient.
I did not do well in this class and would not reccomend taking Trig or Stats, unless it is needed for your major.I would rather take calculus again than Trig. Trig its stlf is hard and durak did not help at all. Her lectures went very fast. If you need to take Trig take it with Mrs. Aratari. She wrote the book they use, and is a great teacher.
she is a very nice lady but she dont not know her math very well. she messed up on a lot of question that were but on the board. i know that she is human and we make mistakes but she make way to many.

STAY AWAY!!!!! very nice lady but have no buisness teaching high level math courses. Constantly makes mistake during class and tests have some cheap problems. I am a 3.6 student who had to drop my first class with her. If your not great at math take someone else.
she's a pretty good teacher overall. she seems to not be excited about teaching the class, but she means well and is a good teacher overall.
she is a nice teacher, who is willing to help before and after class but not much during class, she is very focused on sticking to the syllabus and she doesnt grade homework so your entire grade is based on tests and quizes but the test and quiz questions are straight from the book. during the notes she does get a little confusing

She is a cool teacher and very nice, if you are naturally good at math this is the teacher for you. If not, you will struggle a lot. She has trouble explaining her procedures during her lectures in class.
Probably the worst teacher I've ever had.. I've never had a C- in any class my whole life, and this lady was not helpful at all. I'd ask for help and she blew me off ever time I asked

She is crystal clear on explaining things-very nice and approachable.
Durak is very kind & will go the extra mile for students who try/show they care. If you are respectful she'll give you respect back, she's fair & organized, answers questions & will help you after class if you ask. Its obvious she trys to do a good job; she cares. Uses packets which are big help @ keeping each sec. organized. I highly recomend her!
Shes not bad at teaching, just not the best. She teaches her way, not by what the book says so its hard to go home and review at times, shes very nice tho :) not too hard of a teacher. shes goes through tons of examples which is a good thing. very organized. tests questions are straight from her notes packet.
Terrible, does not take time to teach the lesson just blows through without seeing if everyone has got the problem.
She is overall a good teacher. Her explanations are clear, and she does plenty of examples. However, she does tend to ignore the books methods, but is not a huge problem in the test questions because she sticks to her own problems. I would recommend her as a teacher.

Mrs. Durak is a very nice instructor. However, her instructions on some of her quizzes and exams are not always that clear, such as which method to use for each problem. I have struggled on most of the quizzes and exams so far. If you struggle with Math, do not take her. It's a waste of time and money.
Honestly she is a very nice teacher. She means well and seems to enjoy her job. It's great to have a teacher like that. But the fact that she messes up close to half of her math problems and is corrected by her students puts her intelligence or her teaching ways in question. The way she teaches things is not clear at all. The book was my teacher...

She's really confusing and is always fifteen minutes late for class! Also, she broke up the sections for tests in really inconvenient ways; like we took a test for sections 3.5-4.2 instead of just doing a test for Chapter 3 and Chapter 4. Also barely gives partial credit for anything.
Being that I pay for time in college, I do not appreciate the fact that she was late at least 20 minutes every single day to class. Time is extremely precious in Math (especially Calculus) yet she would also let us leave 15 minutes early [with two snow days]. Tough grader, not a very good professor, will not answer questions in class.
nice person, but I don't like her way of teaching. I have never gotten below an A- in a math course and Im failing her calc, even w/ 4 hrs tutoring a week.She will assign HW & quizes and expect you to complete all the problems and then randomly chooses 4 problems out of 12 or so and grades those... By luck of draw you could pass or fail. NOT COOL!
She's a great teacher. I wouldn't take a math class with anyone else. She explains things well and will keep trying until you get it. Provides ample extra credit opportunity. Not afraid to admit her mistakes. Fair. Accommodating. She's amazing!
Awesome professor. She is always there for her students if they need a little extra help. She is fair and offers more than enough extra credit. I passed two of her classes with As and really enjoyed them both. Overall, great teacher. I'd definitely recommend her.
This professor makes class very hard to follow along with! Her explanations are very complex, and she is always rushed. By the time we are done taking notes, her copy has scribbles and arrows drawn all over it. She didn't offer any help at all before/after class. If you decide to take this class, be prepared to teach yourself the material.
This teacher makes ALOT of mistakes and shows up on average,10 mins late to class every but holds you until the end of class. I've noticed that she gets extremely defensive after making a mistake and is quick to comment about things students do wrong. Her explanations tend to make things more confusing.

Takes forever to fully explain steps always makes mistakes of her own which confuses you even more always talking about her private life in the middle of teaching steps makes math way harder than what it is she makes tests extremely hard compared to her teaching with material she didnt teach or she told you not to worry about
Book work is assigned each chapter, TONS of extra credit it offered. She gives you test reviews that have literally the same problems that are on the test. She gets off track a lot. Spends a LOT of time explaining the basic, early chapters and then rushes through the harder, later chapters. Plan on teaching yourself a lot of the material.
Worst teacher I have ever taken. She does a terrible job explaining the material. I've always been good at math and I could barely pass her class. If you want to pass math, please do not take this teacher.
She was the worst math teacher I have ever taken. I usually get A's in math and I got by with a D in her class. Took it again with another teacher in the summer and received an A and immediately noticed a huge difference. Please, for the love of god don't take her.
I am already terrible at math and this lady exploits that. She is the worst math teacher I have ever had. Doesn't bother explaining much and all points are based directly on tests. No homework points are given. Tests are difficult, using the hardest problems possible. No amount of extra credit can save you from a bad grade.
THE WORST TEACHER EVER! Unfocused, jumps around too much and is very keyed up. She didn't even make it through explaining her syllabus. When emailed a question she dismissed it, told me to drop her class and take a lower course since I "didn't get it". Do not take her class if you ask questions or math is not your strong suit.
Please just do yourself a favor and take somebody else for math. I know she means well and all but there's no circumventing the fact that she just can't teach and makes so many mistakes that it's more confusing than helpful. As I was taking this class, I really did like how she would show every step.. but there was a problem where she would always mess up or not finish the problem and say you guys finish it.. like obvisouly we don't know how to do it. I think you shouldn't take her if you arent good at math. Horrible...

RUN NOW! Get her off your schedule! She talks more about the students who are failing than teaches! She rather give tons of HW that she doesn't check, than actually teach. Her test ?'s are VERY HARD.. claims she "Takes them from the HW." If so, they're the 2 hardest questions in the section... Extra credit is all or none +Must all be correct..
Awful instructor, 60% of the class dropped the course and I wish I did the same. Put hours of work into the course and never got higher than a 70% on an exam. I would not recommend her to anyone, in fact I warn my friends and people in other classes to avoid her course at all costs. DO NOT REGISTER FOR HER CLASSES.
She is a pretty talkative professor, and doesn't have the droning on syndrome. She explains problems clearly for the most part, and she uses different colored pens which help to follow along. She will sometimes speed through more difficult concepts and the exams are quite painful. Overall, it was the best math class I've taken yet.
Professor Durak is a very nice lady, but with that said, I don't think she understands math needs to be consistent. She does problems multiple ways which is very confusing. Also, if you are not a fast learner, do not take her! She moves very quickly. I liked her as a person, just not as a math professor. Also, very hard grader-no partial credit

Lisa Durek is a TERRIBLE teacher. I have never been failing a class so bad. She barely knows what she's teaching which is why her white out is her best friend. She constantly goes off topic and does not explain things well. Half the class period is spent by her complaining how hot the classroom is even though it is freezing.
I usually can rememeber when someone teaches me math. I love math very much but while I was taking her class it was confusing as she teaches one problem in three different ways. The most diffcult part is she doesn't go over anything except for the chapters. Which did not allow me to grasp what she was teaching and how to correct myself from errors.
College algebra is a hard course itself, so expect to work a lot. I'm a fast learner and not too terrible at math but even after studying for hours for each exam I passed the class with only a C+. She offers some extra credit and her teaching style is clear. your grade in the class is basically your 5 exams and final (they're all hard af).
Lisa is a tough grader and her lectures are sometimes easy to understand. But she does go out of her way to help and will work with you, especially when she sees you're trying. She is a very sweet woman and, in my opinion, a good teacher.
She's nice, If you miss class due to an emergency she'll give you the notes for it. The thing about her is she gives you homework that she doesn't grade. When she lectures she doesn't do the the entire math problem she stops halfway through it and assumes you know how to finish it. Test problems completely different from notes and homework.
Lisa Durak, is a great math teacher if you like to learn math at a very slow pace. She spends alot of time going over the easy stuff, and she goes fast on the harder stuff. Her tests are 17-20 Questions and will give partial credit if one would make a mistake. Harsh homework grader. She offers lots of extra credit. She is easy to follow in class.
If you like to get your grades in a timely manor this is NOT a good professor to have. She is a nice woman, but is hard to understand her teaching techniques. She seems scatter brained. I did not need this class for a credit, I took it to help me out with future tests in my major.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! I've had bad teachers in the past but she's the worse. Very disorganized, doesn't seem to know how to explain and doesn't finish some of the problems. The homework is online and the website for it doesn't always work. She writes all over the notes when she's explaining and in the end you don't know what's going on there.

Exams DO NOT match with the material that she teaches not to mention super hard to follow during class. Exams are waaaay harder than the book stuff. This lady ruined my GPA and is not helpful at all. She talks more and confuses you so much in class!! Tutors were so helpful just to get a passing grade in her class and I studied sooo hard and did all of the homework. She is not helpful and cannot explain well at all. Find someone else.

it was a hard class and hard material, but I think Durak does a good job at teaching the material and breaking it down. she does make a lot of mistakes while teaching, so patience is needed. I can tell she really cares about her students and their well-being. i think she has a tough-love kind of approach to teaching

After the first day of class you can tell that she is unorganized. She is very all-over-the-place and not organized. She makes mistakes, takes forever to answer e-mails. Find someone better!! If you want to learn math, take someone else or live at the tutoring center!! Run and take someone else
Extremely unorganized and always shows up late to class!! Makes tons of mistakes in class and you get super more confused. Does not clear things up during class and gets irritated if I asked her questions. Do not taker her since she will confuse you more and not answer your questions. Not helpful and not friendly.
Shes literally horrible!!! DO NOT TAKE HER! She says she drops the lowest 2 quizzes and one exam and even that wont help you. Shes very disorganized and her lecture notes are no help with homework at all. Trust me save yourself the headache and do NOT take her.

Lisa is funny. shes frantic, but it's funny. She occasionally gives out EC and is always available at office hours ( i recommend). She is nice and understanding, especially if you're not doing well in the class
She refuses to take responsibility or recognize she's a horrible teacher that has tenure, which means she doesn't have to. She CANNOT teach, no matter how long she's been "teaching". Her lectures are quiet because few people can follow her. Her exams are i difficult and she grades them hard! She isn't good being asked questions, and is defensive.
Read the reviews, this professor is AWEFUL. Got stuck with her and couldn't revise my schedule in time to get out of her class into another. Lectures are a nightmare of confusion, she's slow to answer emails. Worst of all she really can't teach. RUN and do it FAST. Class size is less than half the students that paid for it now.
My experience with this professor was horrible. I considered filing an official report on her behavior, but because she has tenure, what's the point? What I can say is low ratings cost these schools money, because I use these to pick classes. Sadly, I did not get a better calc professor available to me. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Accused students of cheating once the class was switched to online. Did not hold any online sessions, and made it nearly impossible to communicate with her.
AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!!! Makes tons of mistakes in class. And when we went remote, she never had any live sessions. None of my questions got answered and it was a struggle. Super hard to get a hold of and makes you more confused. Skip her!!!

lots of homework, long videos of lectures, makes mistakes, she is not cooperative, if you just follow the syllabus and let's say you missed out on something she will say other students didn't have a problem with it so should you, even though I followed the syllabus exactly but on her part, she missed out to point something on the syllabus before.
One of the worst professors I ever had to teach me math incredibly inconsistent in the way she organizes things takes a long time to reply to questions through email tried to accused me of cheating when I took a few mins to turn in a test based on the methods she gave us to turn it in DO NOT TAKE HER WHATSOEVER PLEASE!

In my opinion, as long as you watch the lectures, do the homework, you will be fine. Online homework sucks but manageable.

Professor Durak is definitely not the best teacher. She makes a lot of mistakes time to time in her pre-recorded lectures and relies on them too much. I some-what passed this class because I had to do a lot of outside research in order to have a clear understanding of the material. She is not that tough of a grader and never accused me of cheating
Meh, watch the lectures but pay attention she makes mistakes, and wont readily pick up on them. The tests are okay but she can catch an attitude when you email her questions. If you do ur homework & try, you'll pass.

I ONLY passed this class because of all of the tutoring that I got. She is HORRIBLE and her videos are soo hard to follow since they are filled with mistakes. Is not organized and makes you do it her way or else you get no credit. Find someone else and stay far away.

To anyone that comes across this, DO NOT take this course. Professor Durak is not helpful. The tutoring is the only helpful thing. She does not care if her students put hard work in the class AT ALL. She only cares about the grade she gives you, which are very unfair. If you need to take a calculs 1 class and she's your only option DO NOT do it.
I wont repeat what everyone has already said (all of it is true btw). Instead I will provide a personal anecdote. When she was teaching us the integral unit, she provided several incorrect formulas, so when we took the test many students got basic problems wrong because we used her formulas and not the correct ones. Don't take this professor.

She doesn't care much about you personally she treats kids as their letter grade (if that makes sense). You miss a quiz, test, or worksheet you get a 0, she won't give you an alternative or a makeup day no matter the reason. Makes a lot of mistakes. The only good thing is that she doesn't rush through topics, gives you some time to understand it.
She's a nice women, but when it comes to grading and how she handles her class is very strict and disorganized. You have to get a 50% or higher on the final to pass the class does not matter what grade you have in the class. Will NOT let you make up work. You get a zero if you miss class for anything that was handed out. Strict on grading test.
She's nice in the classroom, but once she leaves the door is when she honestly couldn't care less about you. She always responds to emails late and gives you a 0 on assignments that you were absent for with NO opportunity for a makeup. I took the final exam and she never even gave me my score and then lied and said it was posted when it never was.
