She is the worst prof I have had all first year! Next answers her students emails nor the TA's. Is not understanding at all! Most unorganized and confusing class I have ever taken. If it wasn't for my TA I would 100% be failing the class and absolutely lost in every aspect. You DO NOT want this prof for anything!!!!

For your own sanity avoid taking any of Lisa's courses. Worst prof I have ever had. Layout was confusing and not updated to our current term, the due dates were all from previous years. Lisa stopped posting lectures at one point. She doesn't care about this course or any students taking it. Thank you to the TA's for literally running this course

Doesn't deserve to teach

The class is so easy, it's just a bunch of simple assignments. The prof invited guest lecturers to come in and teach the most simple topics just because she didn't want to come in, she doesn't answer emails and she doesn't care about the class. The classes I've gone to have been pointless and the only time you learn anything is from the seminars.

This course was easy, but it was no thanks to this professor. Fiksenbaum does not care about the content she teaches and added nothing to the lectures. I got so frustrated listening to her lectures that I chose not to go as she just repeated the slides. Everything on Courselink was very unorganized and she almost never responded to emails.

Very unorganized with material on courselink and lecture slides are vague. A lot of cancelled lectures or moved to online via zoom. Slow to respond to emails or wouldn't respond at all. Doesn't provide feedback, you'll rely on TAs for this course.

No support for the students, she was rude. The TAs were very hard markers, this is an introductory class and the TA's are marking as if this is a graduate level class. This was supposed to be an easy class for me but ended up being the most stressful class even. Don't recommend.

Really hard to get in contact with outside of lectures. Often does not respond to emails. Lectures consist of reading off of slides, very slow-paced class. TAs definitely carried the course, bless their hearts.

Literally doesn't cover 90% of the content that is on the exams in lectures, and the assigned textbook provides very little on a majority of what was included within the exam. Her exam prep also does absolutely nothing to help. TA's and prof both act very belittling when emailed.

The midterm for this class was an absolute joke. None of the content given in lecture or textbook readings was even on the exam and there was zero help prior on what we should be studying.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Quite literally the worst professor I have had the unpleasant experience of having twice. Somehow the second time is worse. Lectures are so boring, doesn't post slides ahead, reads of slides, is not professional, DID NOT EVEN SHOW UP TO OUR MIDTERM OR SAY ANYTHING AFTER THE FACT. My TA is lovely, and I feel sorry for her. This class was not difficult per se, the information should be easy to grasp. The issue is the professor is extremely disorganized and that's what makes this class difficult. It going to suck but if your a psyc major take the L and carry on.

The displeasure of being taught by her twice is immeasurable. Her structuring of courses builds students up for failure, and she'll never be open to compromise. Midterm had a huge floor effect, since 2/3 of the questions weren't even relevant nor made sense, and she blamed *US* for “not studying enough” (400+ students btw!!). Avoid at all costs.

Midterm had nothing to do with textbook or lectures. Would never take her again, after having her now twice it has only been worse. TAs carry her classes. DID NOT ATTEND OUR MIDTERM AND CANCELS CLASS EVERY OTHER WEEK?!

she was horrible. she always made guests teach the lectures for her so she never had to teach. the textbook was a waste of my money, we never used it. whenever she doesn't want to teach a lecture, she would cancel it. the assignments make no sense. I recommend not having her as a prof unless it is a required course.

Had her for psyc1500 and was devastated when I found out I had her again for psyc2070. Extremely disorganized course, lectures were a joke. Majority did very poorly on the midterm. She didn't show up for our midterm, cancelled lectures at random, and was impossible to reach by email. Once again, TAs carried the course the best they could.

Barely teaches, doesn't respond to emails. Learned absolutely nothing, you're better off dropping the course and taking it with another prof.

If you have the opportunity to not take this prof, do NOT take her. I've had her twice and it was horrible. As a mandatory psychology class her exams are weirdly difficult. Very little lecture material is included on exams. She blabbers during lectures, has some attitude, and is unaccommodating. The TA were great, but she's a horrible prof. Avoid!!

Avoid taking classes with this professor. I had her for two mandatory courses and she was extremely rude, unapproachable, and did not care to support her students throughout the semester. Her exams are difficult and the lecture material is unhelpful. You will likely rely on TA's in order to do well and have an understanding of the course content.

The most unprofessional professor I have ever seen. Minimal effort; class was a mess. Useless lectures regurgitate surface level info from assigned text. Testing format was limited arbitrary. Test questions felt like they were made by AI. Maybe the goal was to expose students to I/O Psych & how companies/HR treat people like disposable numbers?

I've had her for both PSYC 1500 and PSYC 2070. She cancelled class every other week, and the format of her midterm exam was awful. We were only allowed to see 5 questions at a time without going back. The majority of the class did very poorly, and when student concerns were expressed, she was no help at all.

I had the displeasure of taking psyc 2070 w/ Lisa. This class is the worst - so unengaging. And the prof doesn't take our (very fair and reasonable) feedback that we give to advocate for our learning and have the assessments reflect our actual ability. We're adults! Treat us like adults!

Terrible professor; unfortunately, this class was mandatory, but she is terrible. Never came to lectures. Didnt know what was happening half the time. My wonderful TA basically carried this course. The assignment directions are not up to date and do not apply when grading, apparently. Avoid referring to her for anything; seriously, she won't help.

Doesn't teach, doesn't respond to emails, and didn't even show up to her own midterm. Completely unprofessional, and you'll learn absolutely nothing. If you take this class, the only thing you'll learn is to never take another course with her during your entire University of Guelph career. Save yourself the frustration—avoid her!

If you want to waste your time, money, and mental health, then take her class. Otherwise, RUN. Unprofessional doesn't even begin to cover it—she's disrespectful and completely unaccommodating. Save yourself and avoid this disaster.

She never teaches anything relevant, her lectures are an incoherent mess, and don't bother emailing her—she won't respond. She somehow manages to be both condescending and completely absent. If you're stuck with her, good luck. You'll need it.

She's absent in every way—no teaching, no communication, and no regard for students. Lectures are pointless ramblings that leave you more confused than when you started. Unprofessional doesn't even begin to cover it. I wouldn't wish anyone to take her classes, not even my worst enemy. If you care about your education, AVOID HER

I cannot stress that no amount of studying or understanding of the course material will help on the exams, be prepared for questions that have nothing to do with lecture or reading material and be extra prepared for Fiksenbaum to ignore any and all emails she receives about the course difficulty. Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

This prof fails to respect her students, she does not take the concern of individuals under evaluation and tends to dismiss those that she teaches. She has failed to make her course a good learning experience. Fiksenbaum has failed numerous times to understand the content that she is teaching and does not have a passion for what she does.

Avoid. Content is easy but exams are full of unrelated content. Study hard? You'll still fail. Even my seminar leader was over her (she wouldn't even respond to her TAs emails??). Unprofessional, doesn't care. Looks a mess and has no care for her work. Quit teaching and find a job you're not miserable in. Better ace the team project, GPA dropper.

She had no patience for anyone and put little effort into the lectures she actually presented (which in of itself was rare). The assignment instructions were commonly incorrect, to the point that TAs didn't even know how to instruct us most times. The content was easy enough, but the only reason I survived was because of my amazing TA, NOT Lisa.

She was straight up rude to many students in front of the whole class, borderline hostile in some cases, and seemed completely uninterested in even teaching this course. Half the lectures were cancelled, she didn't even show for the midterm, and the assignment instructions were unclear and often incorrect to begin with. My TA was my only lifeline.

Absolutely abysmal, not so much a teacher as a glorified dictation machine. She only read off the slides and added nothing else. Didn't respond to emails, many people within the class shared this sentiment especially after the first midterm exam. Generally unapproachable.

Genuinely laughable that the positive reviews are all written on the same day and in the same tone. I think the 39 (at the time of writing this) negative reviews speak for themselves. I dropped this course before the final exam as I only saw it as harming my mark.

Literally had to drop this course after the midterm because of how brutal it was and how inaccessible this prof was. Not sure who wrote those positive reviews (guessing it was her) but I have nothing positive to say. All I can say is beware if you have her as a prof, she doesn't prepare you at all for the exams and just cancels the lectures

this professor, on multiple occasions, was passive-aggressive to all students regarding feedback on midterms, clarity of the exams and clarity of the major assignments. overall very inconsiderate of the entire class

If you require any accommodations to learn do not take her courses. She barely shows up to lectures and if she does she barely teaches. Requesting and receiving accommodations in this class is almost impossible. This course is basically just taught by the TA's. In summary she is not inclusive and does not care about accessibility

Lisa is truly the worst professor I have ever had. The genuine lack of concern she has for other people is baffling, and if you think I'm exaggerating, SHE DIDN'T SHOW UP TO OUR MIDTERM OR FINAL EXAM!! She left our TAs to deal with it. Disappointed after having her for both 1500 and 2070. Writing my review after seeing the recent positive reviews (which I believe are from her.) Avoid her at all costs. Teaches very surface-level psychology concepts in 1500 and 2070, but the disorganization of both courses made them unnecessarily difficult. Lectures are a waste and barely shows up.

A prof shouldn't no-show to midterms and exams without any sort of explanation. A prof shouldn't completely ignore student concerns. A prof shouldn't (ALLEGEDLY ofc) write her own positive reviews. But here we are! The course content is by no means hard to understand and learn, Lisa just finds ways to MAKE it hard.

Absolutely HORRIBLE PROF. Not sure how people are leaving good reviews. Never showed up to class and made up plenty of BS excuses for the reasons. I would give a negative rating if I could. She invites guest lecturers so she doesn't have to go to class. Calls in "sick" more than any professional should. Not necessary to attend lectures - go to the seminars. Unhelpful, rude, and does not care about her PSYC1500 class full of first-year students. Makes me sick that I had to pay for this class.

PSYC*1500 is one of my required courses for my program (psychology). This is an in person course however we have not yet had an in person lecture, she has cancelled or made them on zoom every single lecture thus far and it is March. Along with this, the information on the lecture slides she provides is disorganized and difficult to take notes on.

Worst class I've ever taken. If you aren't required to take this class, DO NOT TAKE IT. The end of the semester is less than a month away and the professor has never showed up to a lecture, she cancels/schedules a zoom meeting instead every week. The TA's are basically teaching the whole class and seminars are more important to attend than lectures

She has never shown up and puts everything on her TAs. She does not even answer emails and always comes up with a new excuse to not show up. I understand things happen thats life but if your lifes that terrible mabye u should have thought about that before u became a prof at a uni over an hour from your house.

i look forward each week to see what new excuse this woman has for why our in-person lecture (as advertised on webadvisor) has to be held online. i genuinely have never seen this professor in person. i feel terrible for her TAs. she is impossible to contact. PSYC1500 with fiksenbaum is the saddest course i have ever taken.

It is clear that Lisa does not care enough to teach this course effectively. The only thing I am learning is that even sessional lecturers can teach a course with no repercussions for unacceptable behaviour. We are 10 weeks in and she has yet to attend one of our supposed in-person lectures. The dean/department needs to intervene.

This is an in-person course, yet every single class, Prof Fiksenbaum would email us the day of our lecture, make up an excuse as to why she couldn't teach in class, and do the lecture on Zoom. The lectures consisted of her blandly reading off slides and nothing else. I honestly can't believe she still has a job due to her lack of professionalism.

The worst learning experience ever. Fiskenbaum doesn't provide clear details of assignment expectations, is blatantly disrespectful to her students, and does not inject any level of passion, competence, or enthusiasm into her instruction.

Lisa Fiksenbaum was a terrible professor. She always cancelled class and moved it online. She was boring and not interested in anything she was teaching. The Ta's basically ran the entire course during the seminars, where attendance was mandatory. If you are not required to take this course, DO NOT.

Terrible professor. So incredibly rude and gives poor grades, with little to no explanation. The We did not have a single class in person, she would always make up some excuse to do it online. Has zero interest in the class and looks bored the entire time. Do not take her class if u can.

This is one of the worst professors I have ever come across, this was an IN-PERSON class that was held once a week. Over the 10 weeks we had 1 in person lecture and the actual prof was not even there. Majority of the time she left all lessons to the TAs. This class is a joke, it's a shame it is mandatory for PSYC students, waste of money AND TIME.

If this is optional to you do NOT take her class unless if you feel a deep hatred for yourself!!! The class itself isn't super difficult but her marking almost never made sense, she quite literally attended ZERO of the lectures (I kid you not she used "family matters", "religion", "illness" and an "emergency" as excuses) AND gave weekly assignments

tbh this class was irritating to deal with. this is an IN-PERSON class & I never meet this prof /went to a LEC bc each week she had some excuse of why it would be moved online. Seminars are mandatory with an assignment due each week, however they aren't difficult, just annoying w/ how many little papers. My TA however was very nice/ helpful.

Never had in person class, prof always had a reason to not come in and ended up having lectures on zoom. I went once, and was so bored. It was bland, and awful. The TAs do all the work for this course, going to seminars is necessary because of the projects and papers. My TA was great, fortunately, and I was able to still get a good grade
