This class is EXTREMELY easy. She gives a study guide a few days before each exam and the exam questions are the exact same as the study guide. However, she includes a few questions that aren't included on the study guide.

Very easy. Had her for both Comm 150 and JEM 200. Very helpful and is a good teacher. Do the work that is assigned and you'll get an A.

She is a fantastic teacher that is more than willing to help anyone who wants it. Attendance is key (and she takes attendance every day). You are allowed 4 absences before she starts taking off points. If you go to the class and take notes then it isn't too hard to prepare for the tests and study guides.

Professor Gary is a good teacher. She makes the class really easy...basically, as long as you show up and listen, the tests will be a breeze. You don't even have to open the textbook once. She also tries to make things interesting by having lots of different guest speakers. Overall, an easy, intersting class.

Attendence is important for you to do well. Loved her class so much I'm taking one with her next semester. She really knows what she's talking about! :)

She is a good teacher. Very passionate about what she is teaching. You can tell she is intrested in it herself. However, half of what she says is common sense. Attendance taken everyday. I always went to class but played on facebook or something. Got an A- so its not hard. Don't take for an elective. Pretty boring

Lisa is an easy teacher, and the class was pretty easy too. Just attend class regularly and take good notes and you can get a good grade. DON'T BUY THE BOOK! Save yourself the money, everything she teaches and tests on is presented in class so no need for the book. Kinda boring but still a good class.

I'm a senior journalism student and had Dr. Gary a couple years ago. I didn't realize it at the time but she's one of the best teachers in the department. If you actually care about improving as a writer/reporter, she'll help you more than any of the tenured (aka useless) professors. Highly recommended!

The class, though not especially diverting, is very informative. Also, the class is not very difficult if you take good notes and go to class every day (I didn't read the textbook once despite being "required" to... ). The only reason I took this class was so I would be a full-time student and get a good grade. If that's you, then take this class.

If I know that Lisa Gary is teaching a course that I'm taking, then I make sure to get her. She's extremely sweet and very understanding. She does make you work, but it's actually beneficial, rather than busy work. She is definitely one of my favorite professors thus far at UT.

Prof Gary is a great teacher. She is professional, kind, and very patient. She goes out of her way to make sure you understand the material. I would choose my college electives based on what courses she is teaching. There are clicker questions every day, and you do have to study the powerpoint slides, but the class is relatively easy.

This class was a piece of cake. All you have to do is show up, listen, and take the clicker quizzes, and you're pretty much guaranteed an A. If you have any questions Mrs. Gary is happy to help you and is really sweet. The downside is that the class in generally really boring,

There are 2 exams and optional final.No homework.The class was very self explanatory and there was an extremely accurate study guide for each test.You can miss class 3 times with no penalty. My only complaint is to get an A you need a 94 or higher. Text book is not needed if you go to class. I didn't open mine and got an A-.

They are easy to understand and the questions truly do come from that and her exams are the same from year to year. She is also so sweet and really easy to talk to, so that makes it easier to deal with.

She is a really nice woman who is pretty knowledgable about what she is talking about. Her class is boring, but it's not miserable. She takes attendance via clicker, which counts for 9% of your grade. There are three exams, and an optional final to replace an exam grade.

Super easy for a college course. You learn basic knowledge that you may have already learned in an advertising or business class. Just skim the notes before test and you will make A's on the tests. There are 3 tests - 30% for each and then clicker slides 10% of your grade. The final is questions from the 3 previous tests. Great GPA boosting class.

Took JEM175 last semester and LOVED IT. She is such a good teacher. Her lectures are interesting and contain lots of good information. I never missed a single clicker point. Sooo easy. Her tests are very easy as well. She is so kind. I wish I had her for all my classes.

Ugh....BORING professor. Just plain boring. She's really nice, and the material is interesting, but the way she presents it is so freaking boring. A friend even called her teaching stlye "game-showey" which is true. Everything is easy if you come to class and review notes regularly. Extra credit is also possible.

TAKE HER! It is a pretty boring class but it's so easy that it's worth it. All of her tests are 50 questions multiple choice but she has a study guide that has all the answers. She uses clickers for attendance but allows you to miss 4 days and some days she doesn't even ask clicker questions so you can probably miss more than that

You learn a lot in this class and it's a prereq for all other J classes. The answers are NOT on the study guide but if you go to class and pay attention it's not that hard. Keep up with the outside project cause it's 20 percent of the grade. Attendance quizzes using clickers is another 20 percent so missing is not advisable. I liked the class.

Every class except exam days are lectures. Lisa's lectures are a little dry, but the class itself is very simple. Clickers will be used every day at the end of lecture and if you go and click in, you'll pretty much get full participation points. Exams can be tricky, but there are only 3 and the final is optional to replace your lowest test grade.

LISA GARY IS THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! Not only did she allow the class to be easy to pass, she is there for whoever needs her! Mrs Gary is awesome!! However, its easy to let an easy class slide by. You are required to be in an outside club (TVC, TN Journalist, The Daily Beacon, etc.) which can be very time consuming but is an easy 100. She gave out extra credit multiple times. Attendance is taken by clicker points and determines your grade.

Dr. Gary is the sweetest professor I've had! She is always looking to help her students in some way. She makes the material as interesting as possible and she genuinely cares how her students do.

Prof. Gary is a very nice lady. Grades consist of clicker questions, 3 exams, & 1 optional final that, if done better, will replace your lowest exam grade. I made an 86, 88, and a 92 on the exams & attended the review session for the final where she gives you the EXACT test & EXACT answers so I made a 101 on the final & ended with a solid A.

Take her if you can at all!!! Her tests are easy if you study for about an hour and there is always one quiz a week that takes 15 minutes. She makes it very easy to make an A.

This is the second time I have had Mrs. Gary and I love this lady. Her class is not very exciting but she cares to much about journalism and communications and it shows. She has so much real world experience that you will have to have learned something coming out of her class. There is clicker points so show up but this lady is so worth it.

I loved Dr. Gary. She honestly was one of the best professors I have ever had. She does a clicker question every class that goes towards bonus points on your exam, but attendance isn't mandatory. There is extra work every single week like articles and related quizzes, but I honestly thought they were really helpful plus they are included on exams.

Prof. Gary is the best professor I've ever had. She has a clicker question after every class for extra credit on exams. Lecture quizzes and homework online are open-note with 2-3 attempts, so it's hard to do poorly in the class. Also, if you do well on the first 3 exams, you don't have to take the final! This is one of the nicest professors I've ever had! There are a lot of out of class assignments that seem unnecessary but they're very easy and go by quickly. Attendance is not mandatory but definitely makes the exams easier and there are lecture quizzes! You also get extra credit on your exams for attending class. Can not recommend her enough!

The content, especially as a comm major, was pretty interesting and her lectures were really well organized. She is a sweet lady, and assignments aren't very difficult, although there are a lot per week. She bases a lot of questions on the exams on specific content from class instead of on concepts from the lecture slides. Clearly does this to make doing well in her class impossible if you don't attend and take good notes. Overall, not that difficult.

So good that this is the second course of hers that I have taken. Show up and you're set.
