She's a very nice, helpful part-time professor (teaches Macroecon). Always willing to meet out of class and explain things more thoroughly if need be. The subject can be dry and challenging, but she does a good job of keeping it interesting. Recommended
she makes economics interesting... best economics teacher i have had a SLU
Keeps the class interesting, actually keeps my attention for most of the class.
Fantastic teacher. Class itself sucks, but she does a good job of making it interesting. Great lecturer. Definately take for Macro.
I hate economics with a passion, but this was my favorite class last semester. She makes everything really interesting and applies it to things that are actually going on in the world. Tests aren't exactly a walk in the park and you need to study quite a bit because she grades hard on the essay portion. Homework is easy. Overall an excellent class.
Good lecturer that keeps things interesting and gives current examples. Lots of notes and the material in general isn't that exciting. Homework is easy, you don't have to get it right, just do it to get the points. Tests are a little harder but not terrible.
Always keeps class interesting. Even when talking about generally bland and uninteresting material she spices it up with relevant details and genuinely funny commentary. She has no problem explaining things if it initially doesnt make sense. Really the only class I look forward to in my day because of her style of teaching.
Totally not interested in this subject, however she makes it interesting and easy to sit through the class. Homework is easy but not related to the tests. Tests are difficult but fair. Shes a great teacher and if you want to actually learn something take her.
quality professor, gives lots of work though, but there is lots of oppertunity for points and tests are quizes are all pretty easy.
GREAT teacher. Very cool. Interesting examples. Draws lots of graphs. Uses MyEconLab, which is nice. Make sure to study! Tests are not easy!
She's Pretty Awesome. The tests could be easier, but she's pretty good about explaining the material.
First, Gladson is VERY nice, explains things pretty well. Hate to say this, but she's VERY VERY TOUGH! You need to be an Econ major to do well in the class! Unless if you have prior exposure to the class, it's doubtful that you can do well. Very nice prof tho. 3 exams + final, with a little portion for writing assignment + hw. DIFFICULT!
Lisa is so fun. She has a fantastic sence of humor. She makes the material interesting. I think the material is helpful in understanding the financial status of the U.S. Her tests are very hard, but not impossible. You don't HAVE to go to class, but like any other class it helps to go. Overall she's very cool and would reccomend the class.
Lisa is very fun and interesting but you have to spend a long time on myeconlab to study because the class is hard. three tests all multiple choice. Attendance is not necessary but it helps to go to understand the material better.
She is very nice and helpful. The tests are very hard though. Always open to meet with you and help. Will not do any extra credit no matter what
She's smart and knows how to teach economics. She's very nice and helpful when you ask her a question. 3 multiple-choice tests, but they are all extremely difficult and tricky. You really need study hard for them. The book was really helpful.
One of the best professors I have ever had! Tests are challenging. You need to study your notes at least every other day in order to do well, but an A is not impossible. Her lectures are always interesting and you'll learn a lot! Always is willing to meet with students outside of class. I would recommend this class to everyone!
Dr. Gladson is a great teacher for anyone who really loves economics. Also, I'm just gonna say it... she is a hot older woman, I mean, she's real hot in an inappropriate kind of way. Every guy in your class WILL be attracted to her. She is awesome. And hot.
Very easy to understand, entertaining, brings real world examples into the classroom. I greatly enjoyed her class, found it, however, very basic. If you've never had econ before, she's your man. If you have or are looking for something with a bit of a challenge, look elsewhere.
AMAZING teacher. explanations are clear and interesting. but she doesnt play games with her tests. she will make you know it. she doesnt take attendance but if you dont go, you wont do well. she really is awesome, take her if at all possible!!
i loved her! but you have to realize that she may be good at explaining the material but her tests are a completely different story. take her at your own risk if you do not absorb econ or materials well!!
Dr. Gladson is a great teacher. Very entertaining and incredibly intelligent, and you know what, I'm just gonna throw it out there, she's a hot older woman too. There, somebody said it.
if you do not know much about econ DO NOT TAKE HER! her tests are impossible and that is where almost all of the points for the class come from. unless you love or understand econ than do not take her. i attended class all the time and studied a lot and barely passed. trust me she's very hard
She is an extremely good teacher and explains things well; however, you do have to study for the tests. They tend to be pretty difficult, but they're fair and don't have any surprises. If you know someone who took it before get they're essays, she tends to recycle multiple choice questions from year to year as well as essays. Definitely recommend.
She is a good teacher, but her tests are not easy and you have to put in a good effort to get the grade.
Overall, I thought she was a good teacher. The classes were mostly interesting and she used a lot of interesting/real world examples in class. Go to her office if you need any help. She's genuinely concerned and willing to help you. Come to class, do the homework, and study, and you'll do fine. The tests are difficult though, so do study.
Fantastic teacher. Everything said in class makes perfect sense. She has very generous office hours, as well. I would recommend for sure.
She is a great Prof. But she is pretty tough. I would take another class with her if I had the chance.
I love this woman! Such an engaging teacher- and that's a feat for a subject like economics that can be quite dry. She's hilarious and very good at explaining basic concepts. The tests weren't hard at all- as look as you take detailed notes and do the homework, you will be fine. I'd recommend her!
i suck at econ and still sucked taking her class. i went to every class and wrote everything down, that helped. she has like 4 tests, and a paper. the tests are all MC w/ a word problem. the MC killed me and i could never get them right.i enjoyed it, she is a really good teacher that can get her point across easily and clearly.
I loved Lisa Gladson! I had never taken an econ class before and she made the information so accessible and understandable. Her tests are difficult but if you take good notes and do the homework you will be fine.
Tests were fairly hard, but if you attend class everyday and do the online practice tests/quizzes, you will be fine.
The MyEconLab system is incredibly helpful! It is almost exactly what she tests on and her tests are mean! Overall, she is one of the best quality professors at SLU as far as business goes. Attending class will help you understand the concepts and calculations. Here is a tip: DO THE PRACTICE TESTS THEN DO THE STUDY PLAN TESTS AFTER!
Gladson is one of the best teachers here at SLU. She knows just how to explain tough topics in order for the class to understand. She always pulls in information from the real world as well which makes class very interesting! This class does take a lot of effort... she is all about challenging you. Definitely recommend the class and Gladson!!
One of the best classes so far at SLU! She's a rock star. Makes tough concepts clear and grades very fairly on tests and papers. Take her if you can, especially if you're an econ major!
She is am amazing teacher! The best teacher I have had at SLU for sure! Take her if you have the opportunity, I would even suggest it even if you don't have to take economics, it's a good class just to have. Her tests are tough but they're clear cut and she doesn't try to trick you. Definitely have to study in advance, meet with her if you can!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE her!!!
Very helpful and a great teacher
Class attendance is optional but class is usually not too bad. Tests are extremely difficult - if Econ is not your thing it is difficult to get a "B" or higher on an exam. Exams are 70% of grade. Probably would not recommend because of sheer difficulty of course and exams.
The best professor I ever met in SLU. Her class is very interesting and very useful. But the exams are kind of hard. you have to THINK hard to understand what you learned. Notes are important, especially the graph. You definitely will learn a lot from her 190 and 312 classes. Take them if you're looking course worthy of the tuition you paid.
If you're not an Econ major, avoid at ALL costs. Tests are impossible, grades very hard on essays, etc. Throws a ridiculous amount of information at you in class and expects you to remember it all on the cumulative final. If you care about your grade, take Rapach.
Like everyone else says, her tests are very difficult but she definitely makes it interesting. I have always hated econ, but her enthusiasm for teaching and real-world examples kept me coming to class even though it is not mandatory. MC and an essay on each test-just have to study hard and you will do fine.
She is the best professor at SLU for sure! If you took her for 190 I would suggest taking her for 312 again. Her tests are difficult but so is the material, can't just study the night before. She is amazingly helpful outside of class and really clarifies concepts. Keeps class interesting and uses real life examples. She's awesome!!
Love her spirits, but not her teaching. I came into the section b/c of positive ratings. but in reality when you read yourself and understand how things go, they can be easier than if you have her teach you the concepts. Cool but not nice on tests. However, after not using class notes, I get better grades coming in. maybe b/c I'm a math major?
The tests are a fair measure of how well you know the material and can apply it. You won't get the points if you don't understand them material. Isn't that how classes should be? Also, she is more than willing to help you outside of class, and is hilarious. I look forward to her class
AMAZING TEACHER! overall the tests are kind of hard. not impossible if you study a lot tho. she hilarious and keeps class very interesting. im never bored.
Difficult to get an A, but you'll learn a lot. I'd take her again.
Gladson is an okay professor. She excepts a lot out of her students. She teaches too fast and what seems to be an impossible amount of material within days. The exams are also long, wordy and extremely difficult.
She is such an awesome woman. Cool and funny and knows the subject well. Very clear. She is a tough grader, but its fair. You can't cut corners, so dont be lazy if you are in this class. If you do the work, you will understand the info and end up loving econ!
Probably my favorite professor. She is regarded as being tough, but she is awesome at explaining macroeconomic theories and applying them to current events. Her classes are entertaining and engaging- take Gladson & you will actually understand/enjoy economics.
She is my favorite teacher on campus! The test really aren't that hard like everyone says but you do have to study. It isn't a blow off class. If you just pay attention in class and use the online resources you will be fine. All the homework and quizzes are online. Take her if you can!
Best teacher I have had at SLU. She is helpful and keeps class as interesting as ECON can be. She is hilarious! Not super easy but not super hard. Studying is necessary but she gives out study guides. HW is easy. Perfect class.
Professor Gladson was a joy to have as a teacher. I never would've expected to have enjoyed economics as much as I did, but lo and behold, I somehow switched my major from chemistry over to the business school, and I regret nothing.
The tests are very hard, the homework and paper are easy. She gives fantastic lectures and is a cool person, but it's still a very tough class.
Gladson is an amazing professor, and you can tell that she really loves economics. Her class is not easy, but it is worth it; you'll be well-versed in macroeconomics in the end if you pay attention. Multiple choice questions on exams are hard, but essays are easy. She's also super funny! You won't go a class period without laughing!!!
Gladson is a very engaging and likable teacher, but her material is pretty difficult. Online homework can earn you extra credit so try not to miss any (I always did with a friend in the class). I thought some of the material was hard to understand, but definitely the more you look at it, the more you understand it.
One of the best professors I've had at SLU. Her tests are on the tougher side, but they test your knowledge of the subject in a fair and effective manner. All of her lectures are incredibly informative and entertaining. I would recommend her if you're willing to put in a little extra work for the good grades and have an interest in economics.
Lisa Gladson is a wonderful woman and one of the best professors at SLU. She has real-life experience with what she teaches and knows how to present the material in a way that students understand. The tests are challenging, but getting a B in the class is worth it because you will actually learn something.
She is an amazing professor and explains everything really well. She keeps class interesting. The tests are hard but if you start studying early you can do well. It's definitely a class that you need to keep up with. Gladson is great and i really recommend her.
Gladson is incredibly intelligent and a great instructor! The material we cover is not easy, but she brings in real-life examples to help students better understand what is going on. She is extremely friendly and willing to help outside of class. Definitely take her class!
She does not explain the material well at all. The exams go into so much detail, more than she had ever taught. I would not recommend taking her. However, if you do take her class get a tutor and study for exams way ahead of time.
Lisa Gladson obviously knows what she is teaching, but this was easiest the hardest class I have ever taken. She covers so much material and rushes through it all in order to get through the semester. A pet peeve of mine is when professors do not keep contact with you through e-mail or post grades on Blackboard to keep you informed on your grade.
First, her lecture is a glorification of the textbook... not much extras are included. Second, she lacks knowledge and research ability like most PhDs in the room. Sorry to see Jack Strauss go, but even when he was there, it was hard to find a Macro class outside of Gladson. Didn't get a nice grade, but that's my own fault.
Professor Gladson is one of the most interesting professors I ever had at SLU, and I actually had her before in a previous class. She is a phenomenal lecturer and knows how to keep students engaged. That being said, the material is quite dense and she doesn't do a great job of making it any easier. Be prepared to study A LOT.
Prof. Gladson is a brilliant teacher that expects the very best out of her students. With that being said, In order to pass her Macro class you have to attend each lecture, take thorough notes and begin studying for her tests at least a week in advance. I STRONGLY advise against taking this class if you care about your GPA.
Lisa Gladson is an extremely smart woman and an amazing teacher. You will learn a ton. However, she holds her students to very high standards, and if you miss class / don't take detailed notes, you're screwed. If economics genuinely interests you this is a good class, but if you just need to take macro to graduate, there are much easier options.
Professor Gladson is awesome! She is a great professor, however, her tests are very hard. Attend all classes and pay attention to ensure you're taking detailed notes. Take advantage of her office hours and asking questions whenever you're confused. Study a lot!
DO NOT TAKE her if you are not pursuing Econ as a major. She is an extremely difficult professor. If you care about your GPA, do not take her. But if you are an Econ major you should because she is filled with knowledge.
Her test is really hard for students which made me feel depressed a long time.
she's a good professor, but in order to get good grades on her tests you have to put in a lottttt of work. like a lot. her tests are based off MyEconLab, so memorize those practice tests problems
respectful professor but really hard tests. I am dead for her final.
Gladson is a great professor and if you are interested in economics I highly suggest you take any of her courses. Her tests are hard but if you study the material and know the graphing you'll be fine. One paper that is easy and she grades generously. There are easier options for Macro but she is the best if you want to learn something.
Gladson is one of the best professors in the Business school. She is very well educated on all things Econ and does a great job explaining concepts. Her tests are hard but if you take detailed notes and study using the online textbook you should be fine. If you're majoring in business I highly recommend taking Gladson for an econ class.
One of the best professors I've ever had. She is hilarious! Whether you think Econ is interesting or not when you come in, you will definitely love it when you leave. She makes everything interesting and fun!
Lisa is great! She is passionate and bring relevant info! She doesn't use anything but a white board to give lectures, which i really liked. The tests were hard but if you studied you would be alright. You have to buy an online thing but it had helpful resources before tests. Don't forget to turn in online hw or quizzes tho!
I had her for economics and she is a great professor! She really knows her stuff and does a good job of teaching it and making it relevant. Make sure to do the online activities and her worksheets prior to the exam and you'll be good!
Amazing teacher! If you have the chance I would 100% say to take her. Great teaching style and you can tell she genuinely cares about her students and material.
LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!! She is like a mother to everyone here. She is so funny and makes her lectures super interesting. Even if you couldn't care less about economics going into her class, you will find yourself LOVING it by the end. I would take her 1000x if I could.
Professor Gladson's class was my favorite this semester. It was the first time I took econ, and I learned a lot from her and applied it to real life situations. Make sure you are regularly reviewing the material and taking detailed notes over the lectures and you should be fine. Study a lot, ask questions if you're confused and you should be good.
Shes really funny but as a Science major, Econ doesn't make sense to me at all and her class was my hardest class even with my science heavy schedule. Some other econ sections seem to be easier but if you are a business major I would recommend her to actually learn the information.
Very knowledgeable. Makes you work for the grade. Don't cram or procrastinate. Her expectations were very clear. Buy MyEconLab directly from the publisher; not the overpriced bookstore. She has you watch pre-recorded lectures; in zoom we went over graphs. I thought I would have found econ interesting after this class, but I still find it boring.
If you have an interest in economics she does a very good job of teaching the fundamentals. Test, quizzes, and HW come out of the book.
Gladson was a fun teacher but insanely difficult. The multiple choice sections on her test were okay but the essay was very difficult and unpredictable. She expects you to show up to class as well as watching about 4 or so videos a week and the courseload is intense. If youre up for a challenge go for it but its not an easy A... or B.
Pretty enthusiastic. Used my Econ lab, DOESNT allow late work & easy to talk to. Also the amount of time she gave for essays was only around 15 minutes and so that was annoying. Zoom class was recorded.
Lisa is a phenomenal teacher and is extremely passionate about economics. She knows her stuff, but she definitely makes you work for her class. You need to pay attention in class and focus on the graphs.
She is the best professor that I met so far. She was the most passionate professor and if I learned macroeconomics from another professor I couldn't have learned and understood the business world as much as I do now. If you don't care about economics, don't take it and give a spot to another student who really wants to take her.
Great Professor. Very passionate about Economics. If you put in the time, you will benefit from this class.
