Lisa really enjoys economics and enjoys teaching it as well. She wants the student to learn so she is very patient in her methods. If she feels the class does not understand she will review the subject again. Good teacher
She is a pretty good teacher. I never really got into the class because i hate economics with a passion. But even with that, she is a great teacher. Always willing to help when you need it, and if you miss a question on a test, you can argue your case. great teacher, awful subject, but still recommended.
This woman LOVES economics. I've never encountered another professor who put this much effort into structuring a lecture. Plus, she's pretty wicked hot!
She is a pretty good teacher, she loves economics and wants you to learn it and love it too. I did purchase a book, but I sat next to someone who did all her homework from a book online so I guess it's not really needed. Good Teacher overall.
Dr Gloege is clear, fun and knows a lot about econ. She was very straight forward and the tests were easy to study for because she lays it out very well.
i had her for 251 and 252 and enjoyed both. she's a great teacher and extremely helpful. I didn't like econ before her class but did when i walked out at the end of the semester. she rocks!
Gloege is a great professor to have for economics, I even hated the class and was able to appreciate that she tried her best to make it easier for me. Only annoying thing were the online quizzes despite it being a lecture class, but you get a 75% or higher it's an automatic 100% and she uses the same questions on tests. She's can be funny too :)
She knows her Econ. and she knows it well. However, while taking her online classes her discussion board comments in reply to students posts were far from professional. There is definitely no need to diminish them and be brutal in front of the whole class to read. Some things are best said over email. Good material, bad teaching.
Dr. Gloege was a great instructor however, some of her explanations pertaining to certain material was not very clear for me. Some students are able to pick things up quicker, but not me. I am a slower learner and I need things explained more thoroughly. Other than that, she was a great instructor
Economics still makes my head hurt..
I had her for Microeconomics and she was awful. The worst teacher I have ever had. Visually distracting as she moved around the room. Refused to answer questions. Showed favoritism toward certain students. Majority of class was failing throughout semester but passed due to a point packed final. Would avoid if at all possible.
She is a very good teacher. By this I mean she teaches you about Economics, doesn't stay ever and is always willing to help you out. She's always saying come to my office hours and gives you insight on places to study. If you buy in to everything she's putting out for you to use you will to really good. Just put in the time.
Dr. Gloege's class is tough, but if you want to learn econ take it. She uses lots of current events and makes it interesting, and she really cares about her students.
Great class, caring professor. One of the best classes I've had, but only take it if you're up for a challenge.
Awesome professor! Take her if you need an Econ class.
I've had Dr. Gloege for EC 252 and 251 online. I have learned a ton in both of these classes. She's really involved in discussion and helpful when I have questions. She's not kidding when she says to expect to spend 10 hours a week studying, though. They're tough ones. Don't take if you're looking for an easy A, but do if you want to learn a lot!
If you need an economics class, make sure you take this one. She said she'd help us understand what's going on in the world right now, and she really has. I find myself reading about the economy because I want to. I never thought that would happen!
Show up, take notes, do the assignments and you'll do well.
This professor is awful. I tried talking to her for some extra help because I wasn't understanding everything, she was snotty about what she said, and rude. She acts like the questions you ask are just stupid, and she makes the class very hard to learn from. She says she is, "always there for help," she is the exact opposite.
Online class. Prof. Gloege is very involved in discussion boards while offering good direction, thought provoking questions, and constructive critiques. Also offers a large array of resourses to help further understand the topics.
This class was challenging, but she's a great professor. Her lectures are interesting and she breaks them up a lot with other things. She was also really helpful when I went to see her in office hours. Very good class if you're willing to give it some effort. Don't try it if you're not.
I have a positive experience with Prof. Gloege. She's very passionate about her field. She has a very strong academic background and is able to transfer knowledge well. She's always looking for ways to optimize her lecture methodology and asks students for feedback. Weekly quizzes are a big part of the grade so come well-studied every week!
I'm working my tail off in this class right now but it's my favorite this semester. I had Lisa for EC 251 too. Take her if you want to learn a lot. You don't exactly have to show up for class, but I don't know how anyone passes the tests if they don't. Class is interesting and pretty fun anyway. You get to use clickers.
Ms. Gloege is a great instructor. My major is not business focused yet I learned a lot from class. She is really passionate about teaching and about economics. Definitely one of the best instructors at GRCC by far. Definitely recommend!
She's to the direct with her teaching, likes to use the clickers which are fun. Don't get into debates with her though, doesn't like it and will grade you harsher over the course of the semester.Other than that, good professor, show up, do the journals and you'll do fine.
Lisa Gloege was a good teacher, however her class was challenging. The quizzes are completed through blackboard (not the tests), and although they are open note, I did not get a 10/10 on more than one quiz. Class is fun, one you might not dread going to.
Is a good teacher. Had a hybrid class and she balanced it very well considering the limited class time.
I hate hate hate economics. But atleast this professor made it tolerable and understandable. When the class clearly missed the mark in her online class instead of watching the class fail as a whole she took the time to make an online pp to make sure we got the point. She is just awesome... Just an awful clAss for her to teach.
I struggle sometimes with online courses, but Prof. Gloege's online teaching style was very helpful. She made powerpoints every week and uploaded them to "teach" us the material. The assignments were consistent, 2 discussion posts, practice test, & quiz every week. Overall, best online class I've had.
Class is overall easy slightly tedious. The professor knows a lot which can be nice but makes sure to remind you at all times that your knowledge pales in comparison to hers, that she is infallible, and that you should know things inherently without asking her.
I like how she teaches. I like her discussions and practice quiz that can be taken til you get 100%, and her actual quizzes. Her class was really hard for me but I think it was because of the book not because of her. If the book had talked more direct instead of in circles I think it would have been easier to understand and excel in her class.
Super hard. You do not have like any hw ever. But test are hard so if you do not do good that is like your only grade. Very knowledgeable teacher with much experience. I went for help once and all she did was kept telling me to look at the big picture. Which obviously did not help. so I ended up dropping. Need to write 10 page paper. 3 test total
This was a great online class. It was organized and the teacher gave a ton of different ways to learn the material. It wasn't easy, but she was a huge help and was really involved.
Online quizzes every week, must participate and understand info even if she doesn't clearly tell it.
She was very unhelpful to me. She always acted like we knew what the class was about when i never had a prior class on econ before this.
I had a 75% until I was out of state for interviews literally all day and got back on Friday night and was unable to complete the test/essay which dropped my down to 55% with only the final paper left. Even with 100% I would fail because she gave me 0's and unable to take. Grading ends on Friday instead of Sunday. Strictest teacher I've ever had.
Online. I have worked my ass off to try to get a B in this class. It is WAYYY TOO HARD for an undergraduate microeconomics course. Should only be offered as a grad course. Her communication is great-must be glued to her computer. She makes it was too hard and I think she knows she does. Everything is due Friday night : /
I was dreading taking econ but this ended up being my favorite class! Prof. Gloege is not easy, but was really nice and helpful. I learned a lot and am going to take her class in the fall too because I ended up liking economics a lot. Highly recommend this prof.
I took this as a traditional class. She is not an easy professor, you will need to read the text and do the homework if you expect to pass the class. I enjoyed the class, though and I liked how she taught it. I have a much better understanding of the news articles I read as a result of her class.
This is, to date, the hardest class I have taken at GRCC. I literally read the textbook from cover to cover. And keeping up with the homework and required discussion entries meant that I spent more time on this class than I would have if I had taken it as a regular class. Professor Gloege was very helpful and very knowledgeable, I learned a lot.
I'm taking her this semester so I don't know my grade yet, but this class has been my favorite at GRCC. She knows what she is talking about and makes class time more fun than I thought econ could be!
I like Lisa. I had her for my MacroEconomics class. Now the class and the material isn't easy by any means. You definitely need to work in order to pass, but that's college for you. There's nothing good about showing up to a class and just getting an A. #SpokenFromATrueNerd
Tough class great instructor
If you enjoy crying once a week during class, she is the best teacher for you! She is not helpful at all. Class moves very fast, sometimes covering 2 chapters a day. Would not recommend to a single person.
Great professor. Out of all the classes I took at GRCC, she was one of the best instructors, I would definitely take her again. Do your homework, read your book and participate a bit and you should be successful. I don't think the class was hard if you put the time. Highly recommended!
Generally liked Prof. Gloege. Not great but decent. You take online quizzes which are easy to do well on. The tests can be somewhat difficult, but really not too bad. Study hard and you'll do well.
I learned more in this glass than any other this year, but I had to work for my A! If you want a prof that knows the subject, cares about you, and really pushes you, she's the one to take. If you want an easy class find another one.
One of the best. I would say she is in my top three professors I took at CC. Very clear on everything, surprises. Class is very interesting. If you have to take Econ, TAKE HER. Had a couple friends take Abid because everyone rant and rave about him and after comparing, they wish they had taken her.
Dr. Gloege does an excellent job of teaching clearly and in a manner that allows students to truly understand the depth of the subject. She also does a great job utilizing sources outside the curriculum to illustrate her points and enhance the learning process. She's very helpful!
Prof. Gloege is one of the best professors at GRCC. She is so clear cut in her expectations and grading criteria that simply following it will get you an easy A. If you are having troubles with anything, she welcomes any and all questions. I would recommend her to anyone taking an economics class at GRCC.
The subject is tough. Online quiz every week. No term papers. Need to do well on tests. Grading is straightforward. Sometimes the book explains things better, but she does give relevant examples. She posts her class slides, but it's the answers to the slides that matter most. Helps to be comfortable with graphs. Not sure if I would take her again.
Professor Gloege made me love economics! Read the chapter before class and pay attention in class are my two pieces of advice. I did not have to study that hard following those two things. Her slides are great and the quizzes really help. She welcomes questions and encourages meeting with her if you need any extra help or want to talk economics.
My favorite prof. Excellent teaching if you pay attention and take part in class activities you won't have any trouble. No rote memorization, if you understand the concepts the tests will present no problems.
She is a very nice teacher and is very easy to get along with. Best of all before every test she has a review day so if you have any questions she can answer them right there.
I took this class online and I'd definitely recommend it. It took more time than other online classes I have taken, but it was well organized and (surprisingly) interesting. I think I learned more than I ever have in an online class!
Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about subject. Recorded lectures added to and reinforced course material. Lectures were up to date and not a dry reading of the course material. Professor Gloege was supportive and helpful. She made what could be a dull subject very interesting.
Great teacher very knowledgeable, and fun.
Professor Gloege is incredibly knowledgeable and organized. I took her online course, and it was the best online course I have ever had. She made assignments and deadlines very clear, and was there to further help with the material. You have to work hard for an A, she pushes you to your full potential, but you come away well informed!
This is an online class, so reading is a must. Participation is part of your grade each week. Follow her instructions for assignments and you should do fine. If you aren't understanding something, ask her or go to the tutor lab. Both work great! Quizzes each week and are open book/note. Some are timed, others aren't. Would take her again!
great teacher. she will explain most of the bigger idea she will test you in class again and again. like her chapter quiz help you check your knowledge and can easily practice for big test.
By far the toughest class I have taken but Im not the biggest fan of Econ , she explained all the models with vast detail.
Professor Gloege (gleg) is ok.
She truly cares if you pass. She is so good at explaining things and if you have any questions she has no problem meeting with you to go over things. I took her online but she made me feel like I wasnt alone. There was some stuff I struggled with but her feedback was super helpful!
I took this class online during the summer. Honestly, if you do the work then it's a super easy class. You have one practice quiz, one regular quiz, and one discussion board post per week. Sometimes I finished all the work in one day, and she gives you a lot of feedback on your discussion boards. She's super nice too, definitely take her
I honestly love this professor! Enjoyed her class so much that I took both EC251 and EC252 with her. She provides a good amount of additional material you can look into if you don't understand something, great lecture videos, clear grading criteria and always provides feedback on written work.
great professor, I took macro online over the summer and she posted lecture videos and made everything really easy to understand for not being in a physical class. I would take again, just make sure you participate with the other students, part of your grade is responding and giving feedback on others work which is an easy grade booster its self.
Do all the work. She is not really understanding so make sure you get all the stuff done or your grade will suffer.
She really wants everyone to do well in the class and encourages questions via email or office hours. She will work with you if you need help but will not accept excuses. If you're honest with her she will help you to do well in the class.
I cried inspired tears during multiple lectures. She is the best teacher that I have had so far!
I like professor Gloege because she is very clear and precise in her lectures. She isn't the most entertaining, but she makes it so you know exactly what will be on the tests and she is a good lecturer and that's all that really matters. I would definitely recommend taking her, but don't buy the textbook!I never used it and there's an online one
I had Lisa Gloege for Macroeconomics during her 7 week summer class. I would not take her again. Shes not understanding or very willing to help you. Take Abid hes way better.
I actually learned a lot but it didn't come easy. This course is tough. Gloege switched up the material to keep things interesting but also had a structured schedule which really helped. The same type of work was expected every week (discussion boards, chapter readings, quizzes). No tests other than final exam. 1 quiz every week.
Oh Lisa. overall she is a pretty good teacher and really cares about her students. however, she can be super annoying with her lectures. I often found her ranting on and on about things not relevant to our tests. we would spend the entire class period going over one vocab word which to me is just an exagerated waste of time. read the textbook.
Bland class, was oddly difficult for a subject so easy. Didn't really explain things in a different light/go deeper. Definitely study before the unit tests. Not the worst prof, and was willing to work things out when i was going to be gone for a while. Also, easy to get a hold of. Just okay.
If you have the chance to take her class, do it! She has experience in her field, so she will call you out politely if you try to bs a portion of your work. Her final was tough but fair. This was an accelerated class and I missed the first week completely (50%)but was still able to get a C, if you do the work you can easily get an A or B.
Professor Gloege was an okay teacher. She is a tough grader on discussions and want's you to be absolutely right all the time. Even though she says its okay for wrong answers she still marks down 5 points every time your response is wrong. Way too much homework as a full time student working full time I struggled to keep up. Don't really recommend
I took the accelerated course. The textbook is the most helpful (and it's free), and she definitely knows her stuff. She grades strictly though, you better have well-written assignments. I also didn't like how much she gave us articles to read as opposed to the textbook or lecture videos. Bulk of the work was on discussion boards. STUDY FOR EXAM!
Was excited to take this prof after reading other rates. By far one of the WORST profs I've ever had at GRCC. Took this class during the 7 week summer semester. Doesn't know how to teach or give good feedback. Maybe 2 lectures total over the course of the semester. DON'T TAKE THIS PROF! Grades hard & doesn't care about students! You will struggle!
She doesn't give good feedback, grades tough, and her lectures aren't helpful. For some reason, she bases a lot of course material on articles instead of a textbook or (better) lectures.
She's very good at giving good feedback when it comes to discussions although you have to put in effort to explain what you've learned because she doesn't grade super easy.. There is weekly quizzes / discussions. The class is overall not bad, just manage your time and don't wait last second to learn the weekly chapters!
She is nice but does require you to work for your grade. Grade depends on discussion boards-4 total and a test. Test is open note no RLB. The discussion board guidelines need to be taken seriously for you to pass. Comprehension heavy. Bi-weekly assignments which gives you plenty of time to write 4 good discussion posts. Substantivelong/detailed.
This professor has a lot of knowledge & is easy to communicate with. She gives different materials to learn from, which I loved. Participation is key, & knowledge is a close second. She grades hard because she expects you to expand on what you've learned in each section, not just regurgitate small facts. Study the material & give thorough answers.
Lisa gives phenomenal lectures. I have learned so much from her class! Very intelligent and intense. You should really plan to attend each lecture as they are so informative. Would take again!
Professor Gloege is one of the best professors I've had across multiple colleges. Her video lectures are very helpful and all the course content is free. Weekly discussions and quizzes (practice and real quiz) are very easy so long as you give yourself the time to do it! Don't feel discouraged if you do not get something right away, just ask her!
Professor Gloege is one of the most amazing professors I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field and an amazing teacher. She obviously cares about her students. Wish I could take all my business classes from her. Just participate and ask questions and you will be fine.
Very tough grader. This was an excel course which was smashed into 7 weeks and it was not enough time. 18 Chapters into 7 weeks with a timed exam in the end. The professor was very nice but class is tough. Tip: Do all your homework and you will pass.
7-week accelerated course. Workweeks are Wed to Wed, and the 1st week there were only 3 days to do a ton of required material. I find that ridiculous. To make it worse, she made assignments due the day after spring break. So much for a break. The discussions are excessive as well. Use achieve textbook. Assignments due on mon too. Mon. already suck.
This class was made far more difficult than it should have been. The form in which she asks questions during lecture was clearly confusing to many of the students. The sheer volume of work was ridiculous and often time not helpful after the in person lectures would leave you feeling more confused. Fully written timed final, VERY TOUGH GRADER.
Not helpful. Will give you way too much hw, read chapters, articles, listen to podcasts, watch videos. Anything slightly different from perfectly right and you lose points. Will always find something to criticize. First week is super short & has confusing deadlines. No amount of participation is ever enough. TERRIBLE.
I really enjoyed this class. I accidentally signed up the accelerated online version- the class does require significant effort and time commitment- about 15-20 hours/week. I enjoyed the instructor a lot. She values students' time, is organized, has good lectures and clear expectations for grading. If you're a good student, you will do well.
She gives out an extremely large magnitude of overall work. Up to 7-8 hours worth of reading material and videos to sit through and around 3-4 hours worth of writing to do weekly. Will heavily nit-pick the writing work that you turn in and make sure you feel inferior to her cranium of knowledge. Doesn't understand that students work outside of this
I took this an acclerated class, and it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. She is a great professor who makes learning the topics easy. 2 videos per week always less than 30 mins, free textbook, discussion posts, and 1 quiz per week. It sounds bad, but trust me if you put in a little effort you will get an A.
Great professor. For anyone who gave her a bad rating they are just lazy. By this time you should expect to put in some form of work for college. Not every class is a walk in the park. If you are a half-way decent student you will get an A and most likely enjoy this class.
A tough grader but provides good feedback. The course can seem overwhelming with the accelerated coursework if you are working or going full-time. The last review is incredibly pretentious, as “just being a halfway decent student” alone will not help you get an A. Time and effort are key!
Heavy political bias, inconsistently unclear instructions, forces you to make discussion posts with time between, makes you reply to yourself with what you'd fix or what learned from other people. Real forced interaction bs and frustrating time requirements from an online summer class where flexibility is supposed to be the point.
One of the best professors I had this semester, as long as you do your work you will get a good grade. Their is a lot of reading from the textbook but if you follow along with her lectures it is okay. She also added additional resources for the chapters which I found helpful.
Best proffesor I have had so far. Amazing communication, clearly defined assignments. I actually learned alot and enjoyed the topic because of her.
