you have to really study the material of her class. Fair teacher.
I don't like professors like her. She makes you buy the book, to do the reading but tests you only on her lecture. She talks to much about Chicago (excuse me but your in LA, if you don't like it move back!). Quiz every class, midterm, final,1 paper. Attendance every class,do your self a favor don't take her.
Yes, you have to read, there is a quiz on book every week (10% of grade) Midterm/final are based on lectures, very straight forward. Study guide tells you exactly what to study, there's a short opinion paper, not too hard. I learned a lot from her, didn't mind all her Chicago stories but she says "okay" a lot
I TOOK CRIM 483 WITH HER, SHE IS HARD BUT SHE ALSO KNOWS WHAT SHE'S TEACHING, OVERALL SHE IS A GOOD INSTRUCTOR. ATTENDANCE IS OF EXTREME IMPORTANCE TO GET AN "A" IN HER CLASS. A QUIZ EACH WEEK BUT IT IS RIGHT AFTER THE LECTURE SO THEY ARE PRETTY EASY, WE HAD TWO ASSIGNMENTS ASIDE FROM THE MIDTERM AND FINAL. MUST STUDY TO GET AN A
She seemed pretty difficult at first but she turned out to be a cool teacher. She gives weekly quizzes on your reading so you should make sure to keep up on your reading. Mid-term and final is a breeze. She lets you know exactly what is going to be on the tests. Just be prepared to answer her short essays.
she is so boring and always talking about chicago. she is very unclear at times and horrible grading.
I like the fact that she teaches police organization and administration and has no experience as a police officer...haha Take this class with Dineen (LASD) or Mitchell (LAPD) if you can. They have the experience to back up the teachings and you'll also learn some valuable information.
Avoid her if possible.
Needy personality with her demand to see students on class by all means as HIGH ScHOOL! Contradictory with demand the expen$e of the book versus lectures,Hard on herself as she is hard on students:reverse psychology...she needs a person to make her love/cuddle so she gets humane, flexible, and teachable.
she is not a hard teacher. but she also does not respect other people's opinions if they differ from her own. she teaches police organization without any police experience. she is really annoying. i wouldnt say avoid her but dont plan to enjoy her class
She not only teaches, but grades as if you're in high school. She does not critically assess her material. Lectures were very dry & word for word from her power points. I received all A's & b's on her quizzes and mid term yet got a D+ because the assignments weren't to her liking. Avoid her if you can
Dr Graziano rocks! My dad's a cop so I can tell she KNOWS cops. She's got loads of interesting stories/info & she wasn't a cop (who cares?) but worked in the CJ system with both courts/cops. Its college, you've gotta work for your grades & she makes it easy to do so ignore the complainers, she cares a lot & gives cool assignments!
The high school comments below must be students who couldn't pass thru their own fault. Really good teacher, makes you see how ones like Dineen give you nothing you couldn't get talking to a cop for an hour. Mixes up book and other info on tests, not just lecture so get the book.
I hate stats and was worried taking it this summer, but Prof Graziano made it very easy to pass. She makes sure you really get it and is great at helping when you ask. I'd take her again for anything, she's lots of fun in class.
Hands down one of the best professors in the department, you learn so much!
I wasn't too sure about this prof, this is not an easy A class and you need to know your stuff. But she really knows her stuff, gives you great support for doing well, and is everything you'd want in a professor. Recommended. Use her study guide and do the paper as she asks
I wasn't too sure about this prof, this is not an easy A class and you need to know your stuff. But she really knows her stuff, gives you great support for doing well, and is everything you'd want in a professor. Recommended. Use her study guide and do the paper as she asks, you'll be good.
I laughed to see comments about it's a big deal she wasn't a cop. Took her for Legal Issues for Police and she blew me away with her knowledge!! Awesome instructor. No book for the class so you really needed to attend class, but take home tests and I really liked her lectures/exercises. You have to work for an A, but that's how it should be!
LOVE THE CLASS.TEACHER LOVES TO TEACH.. SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT. IF YOU WANT AN EASY A THEN DONT TAKE HER.. SHE TEACHES AT COLLEGE LEVEl
Dr. G sets up her classes in a way so what you learn really sticks. Attendance mandatory, too much in lecture you don't want to miss for tests. REALLY study for her tests, but guides are a huge help. Very very understanding when you go to her with problems. Recommended!!!
Prof. Graziano is the best teacher that I had so far at CALSTATE. She's really knowledgable and helpful when you need her. Attendance it's a must, otherwise you will fail her class, no book needed, tests are based on her lectures which she explains REALLY WELL! The only way to pass this class is by showing up and taking notes.NOT FOR LAZY STUDENTS!
great professor........awesome
Most assignments came out of her powerpoint. Some of the questions on the midterm and final will require the purchase of the book. She is very clear on presenting but the tests can be a bit tricky...she is the head of the department. She is rather strict with talking in class but that does not mean she doesn't allows questions. She encourages it.
Very Informative Class..comes off very strict but her tactics actually helped me learn a lot STUDY THOROUGHLY for her 2 tests and take a lap top to class if you are not good with writing A LOT every class. Overall I enjoyed the class a lot and she is very helpful and understanding if you are honest with her
I like her teaching style a lot! She gets it, goes all out to help if you ask, funny, down to earth, cute. She cares about her students and makes sure you learn lotsl. I'd take her for anything, best one I've had so far.
You have to come to class, she grades you on your attendance and also will have random in class assignments. Not only that, all the exams will be based on the power points so you want to be there. She has vast amount of knowledge and is always willing to help a student. Her class flew by because it was entertaining. Must take!
Pretty straight foward, really good on explaining her material. She hands out extra credit through the quarter to help you pass the class. Four writting assignmens, two exams, and a term paper. Not going to lie but her exams are hard and se expects a lot from you.
Really tough grader. I managed to get B's and C's on her assignments yet I got a D for the class. Avoid if can. Really tough grader. Expects too much!
You must take good notes, she sometimes gives out a quiz at the end of class. If you miss class you will FAIL. I never missed a day and ended up with a B+, which I thought was fair but I really wanted the A. Study hard, go to class, take good notes, do the extra credit, and you'll pass. She always answers emails and offers a lot of extra credit.
Her style of teaching is awesome. She can be a tough grader at times, but that's because of the subject matter. She wants to make sure you understand the material. Straight to the point. You don't need to buy the book. She covers everything through her lectures, except 2 theories which you can google. Taking her for Crim 483 W2015, seems easier.
She is an insane grader. She tells you what will be on the study guide will be all that is on the tests but that turned out to be false. She deducts points off of tests for missing 1 or 2 seemingly irrelevant words. Midterm, in class assignments, paper, final. If there is another teacher option definitely choose it.
Best professor I ever had, no joke. No nonsense, gotta do the work, study, she tells you exactly what she want, so it isn't hard if youre serious about school. Really funny, seems super tight with LAPD so lots of inside dope, brings cop friends to class so nice touch, went by super fast!
Stats isn't my thing, but Graziano made it easy! Easy quizzes after lecture and study time, in-class exercises, doesn't fill you up with anything you don't need to know for tests, guaranteed extra credit if you want it. I was so worried I was going to office hours from the first week but she was super nice and always made sure we got it. Love her!
Liza is a god in the criminal justice department. the best part about her is that there are no exams except a final exam and "It's a take home final" so you can't fail the class. there are essays and short answer question response that is apart of your grade so it is important that you are in class for those.
she's really picking and demanding on what she wants in her essays which makes me feel stupid. I would only take her again because he provides a take home final exam. there are zero exam in her class.
very RUDE! she even calls you out on stupid things by telling the whole class about it. I would only take her again because there are no exams in her class and she gives out a take home final.
Very rude and disrespectful. Has not respect except the ones that are smart. Embarrasses you by calling you out on little things. Tells your business to the entire class. She's too picky on what she wants. She wants too much out of you.
she's too demanding and too pushy. she expects too much out of you. she wants things her way.
Great at teaching, but has a horrible personality. She is always angry! Good thing about her class is that she lectures well and brings in guest speakers which are all cops! Also, there are no tests or quizzes in her class, only 2 papers. I worked very hard end earned a B (
Worse professor ever! She's not that friendly and she's very rude. The only way she will be friendly to you is if you're in a criminal justice honor society club or if you're doing well in the class.
very rude and hostile. she's not friendly nor is she welcoming. PS: make sure you call her Doctor, otherwise she will get mad.
very embarrassing and humiliates you the best way she can.
Worst professor ever
terrible personality with a terrible attitude. she has no respect.
if you want a class that has no exams, take Lisa, if you want a class that has a take home final, take lisa, if you want a class that does nothing but group work, take lisa.
lisa Is nice. if you don't want a teacher with a terrible attitude, don't take lisa. if you don't want a teacher to embarrass you, don't take lisa. if you don't want a teacher who isn't there for you, don't take lisa. other than that, she's nice.
She's hard to please
She's so rude. She's not nice
She is knowledgeable professor however not a professional one. If you have an alternative do not take her, if you want a class that has a good atmosphere do not take her, if you need respect do not take her, if you want the grade that you deserved do not take her, if you want help with your paper do not take her, other than that you can take her.
Her expectations are extremely high! She does not tell you much about what she expects nor does she give you any feedback that would benefit you. You MUST be a very good note taker otherwise it would be hard to pass her quizzes. You have an interview paper that is difficult to do because it is hard to work with the questions she gives.
It was an online course and it was okay not easy and not too hard. The quizzes were hard because she didn't say what she was expecting from you. I took good notes and did okay on the first quizzes. The last quiz was easy. Overall if you need help she'll help you It's not a super hard class but you have to stay on top of the due dates+ extracredit!!
She was a really hard grade and too picky on what she wants out of you. Shes uptight
Dont have your phone out of be on your laptop while shes lecturing. She will call you out on it. This class is nothing but discussions which should be easy points and a take home exam. Shes too picky on what she wants and its not good enough for her. She expects too much out of you all because youre at the undergraduate level.
this woman is hard to impress. she doesn't care on how to help you or give you guidance. she makes you work on your own and expects you to know the answer because "you're at the university level". I would not recommend this lady to anyone even tough she offers take home exams.
Get ready to beg for mercy
HORRIBLE!!! she thinks and acts like she's funny, but she's not. she sarcastic and she does it in a mean way.
Took Dr. G for my first online class last year it was great! she put it together well and the quizzes are really easy if you pay attention to lectures and take decent notes. I have 4450 now, it's even better in person with lots of important info you can use and great speakers. Ask for help and she can't do enough, don't ask it's on you!
Many critics say she is a horrible teacher, and that is why i was scared to take her. She is great, not bad as what they say. She is very helpful, criteria is doable. Many extra credit, little homework, and part online course but very descriptive.
I took her online course and didn't think it was that bad. She assigned group discussions, reflections, and 3 quizzes. Her quizzes we're a bit hard, but she does warn you to take good notes and review them. I did a lot better on my last quiz than my first 2. She'll deduct points if you don't "express yourself clearly".
I love taking Dr. Graziano for anything!! No, she doesn't hand you a grade just for showing up like most instructors in the department so I totally get the bad reviews. She makes her lectures so interesting and useful in a practical way for anyone wanting to be a cop, that includes what the cops she brings to class coves. Don't miss out :)
OMG, this woman is amazing, I 100% do not agree with the bad reviews. Do her simulation of a crime scene and press conference for the class and know why! Lectures are interesting, she wants you thinking speaking out. Then group work in class usually, but I love the exercises and time goes fast! One paper, an easy group presentation.
Currently taking her CRIM 2020 class and she's extremely picky grader. Do not take her. Her grading is very harsh and expects too much.
One of the best Professors on campus. She does not tolerate using your phone that's because she truly wants you to understand the material. Other than that, her homework requires just a good effort to get full credit. Show up every class to get your participation points that do matter. If you do all this you'll easily get the "A" grade you deserve.
Dr. Graziano's class appeared easy at the beginning but after the first test everyone felt disappointed. For her online Crim. 2020 class, she only does lectures (no textbook required) & her tests have nothing to do with her lectures. Her lectures are not clear & have nothing to do with the tests. The discussion questions are interesting and fun.
For a lower division class it was a bit challenging. 3 quizzes no final or midterm but they are heavily based on the lectures. You MUST listen to the voice lectures or will not pass the challenging quizzes. Lots of online discussion and reflections not difficult. Focus on listening to the lecture and take great notes to prepare for the quizzes.
Grading system is weird. Then it seemed to grade even harder when I explained all that I was going through. She wasn't too specific on why she deducted point to begin with either. Lectures are videos and tests are on videos. I'm not a visual learner, I am a reader. So the videos were hard for me to watch and keep up with.
She graded really hard and her tests made no sense.
Her 3 quizzes are based off the lecture videos, but they didnt make sense at all. Her weekly assignments are easy though
Class exercises almost every meeting. Worth a good chunk of your grade, don't miss class. Grades them pretty hard, I never got full credit on any of them. Make sure you take good notes cause you will need them. 2 short papers, and a group powerpoint presentation. Paper instructions are overwhelming and confusing, grades them pretty hard also.
Loved this class. Her video lectures made the content very interesting and easy to understand. You must watch them and take note of everything important in order to do well. Simple, straight-forward weekly assignments applying course content mixed with opinions. Quizzes are a little tricky, so review your notes and take your time; it's very simple!
She's one of the best, you learn a lot! 3 quizzes with 16 questions multiple choice and true/false, plus 1 hour to take each. Comments here on lectures not matching quizzes make no sense, it was hard to do bad on the quizzes if you watched lectures and took notes. Also reflections and group exercises on interesting police topics, my favorite part!
For a lower division course this class is really challenging because of the way she grades. I would not recommend this professor at all. Im a senior & I never took crim2020 in community college so I had to take it now. Comparing this class to some of my upper division courses, its kind of ridiculous how much of a picky grader she is.
I liked the lectures, they're organized and not all over theplace like in some classes. You want to listen, she's into policing and it is fun listening. The assignments tie in and keep it real, you get to talk to your group of students in the class. Tests are ok as long as you take lots of notes . Dr G is always fast to email back.
Very disappointed by this professor. She grades tough. Her test are the most confusing. No study guides, because apparently the power points are sufficient. No They are not if youre going to ask complex questions. During the pandemic, we should do better for students that are not use to online Education. She is intelligent, but she needs empathy
Her exams are difficult, she talks a lot during her lecture, pay attention because what she says will be on her exam. For a lower division class, it was a difficult course to take. Only take her if you have to.
I would not recommend this class at all! There is group discussion boards due every week and reflections which aren't hard at all but she is a tough grader. In addition to this, the test are extremely hard. She says things are on the test but they aren't. I don't know anyone that has gotten higher than a C in this class.
Professor Graziano will require you to put in work to earn the grade you want. She provides prerecorded lectures, 6 timed quizzes but were pretty difficult, several exercises as well, and 3 exams that were mostly multiple choice along with hand written work as well (she goes over material before the exams). Going to her office hours really helps!
She is okay. She is rude at times and is a hard grader. Picks at every hw assignment. The exams are tough. She has you show your work by uploading your answer through canvas. You take a picture of your paper and upload it which can be a hassle when you have an unstable internet. It was time consuming to upload the work. 3 exams and weekly hw assig.
Very tough grader picks at everything.
STATS is not an easy subject but honestly Dr. G made it easier to understand. I thought I was going to do bad in this class but I passed with an A! TAKE NOTES, ask questions & you will pass.
she gives many quizzes out and her class is so hard
She is a TOUGH grader. Assignment might seem easy & you might feel confident after turning it in but best believe youll have some points deducted for dumb reasons. She picks on every single assignment. Shes very specific and wants the prompts to be answered a certain way. Everything requires explanation, if you fail to do so points are deducted.
She and her TA are TOUGH graders. Her assignments might seem easy but once her TA grades them, youll be shocked at all the points he deducts. It is unbelievable how HARSH they are. Please whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Look for other options, youll be better off with other professors.
she was okay but when you ask for help she answer your question with another question or say "did you watch my lecture videos?". she would make you look like a fool instead of helping you learn what you're confused about and move forward with her class. This class makes you feel far behind and you cant move forward with the rest of her class.
she does not care about what you're going through and will not offer any exceptions. Her grading is ridiculous, she expects you to know everything and for you to be extremely specific on assignments and if it was not done the way she wants it she will not give you any credit no matter the amount of effort you put in doing the work.
I didn’t have a bad experience but her TA is the one that grades everything. You just have to be very clear with your answer and make sure you answer exactly what she’s asking for. If not, you’ll get a bad grade.
She claims there are no wrong answers yet I always get a low score each time. She claims I don't take my time when it is impossible for her to know that. I take hours to answer one question now and still get told that I didn't take my time on in. We have no text book so we can only go based on what she says and even then it's wrong.
I had professor her for 2 courses CRIM 4830 and CRIM 4450. I would honestly say SAVE YOUR TIME. She claims to be helpful but is only confusing and grades extremely hard. The feedback she gives on assignments only leaves you more confused then when you started. She deducts a lot of points for missing one thing on certain assignments. GRADING is bad
Read the first comments let me just tell you I thought they were exaggerating and it ended up being all true plus no matter how hard you try and also there was so many students telling her no one was passing the class but I guess she just doesn't care. Please listen to the reviews.
As someone who hardly uses this site, I would recommend you seek other options before choosing this professor. I did pass with a B, but only because of her grading scale which confused over half of 2020 section. She tends to be very "smart-alecky" when she speaks to students on why certain grades, and takes points off for very miniscule things.
This professor is a tough grader! Horrible when it comes to giving students full credit. She will deduct points for just about anything. Only class you complete all work and can still fail. Says there is no right answer but it is obvious she has an answer in mind. Shows no sympathy for any student. Please save yourself the trouble from taking her.
Love Dr G! The work she had us do was amazing, she really takes you inside the legal issues and you walk out with new skills and understanding. I want to be a police officer so of course everything I learned can be applied to my future career. There wasn't anything here not to like.
This class is very informative. It's a very realistic workload, no big papers and open note exams. She responds fast to emails and feedback is good. I see a lot of complaining in the online classes, unless it's a piece of cake students get nasty about the teacher. The grading rubric is pretty clear, I don't get students who can't do what she asks.
Stay away from this professor. She is always commenting how her students are lazy or cheat. Extremely tough grader, and takes forever to grade stuff. Her class is all over the place, and if you end up taking her get ready for a lot of stress. She is rude to her students in her emails, and gets annoying with her sarcasm.
Don't take this woman she thinks she's teaching a biology class with all of her requirements for simple "question and answer" homework. She gives a topic and you have to use her format "C.E.R:" claim evidence reasoning- and still would manage to take of .5 from your work; not even a full point. This points really affects your grade. Disgusted !
The worst criminal justice professor I have ever taken. She treats her class like its a biology course and will take out as many points she can on the assignments. Petty and just out to get her students. My entire class ended up disliking her. Don't believe me? Ask anyone who has taken her course.
Good luck taking her class! Stressful! and just rethink about taking her class. No extra credit......
Waste of money, I do not even know how she go hired or even has a job as a professor. She will never give you full credit on any assignment she will pick at everything. She emails you in such a rude manner, she pretends she is there to help you but always comments back in a condescending way. This course is required so save your money and time.
Pretends she is there to help but actually is rude and makes you feel uncomfortable in the class. Her examples during lecture and hw are easy but it reflects differently on test. When you mention she replies in a rude manner very unprofessional. Gives the vibe that she peaked in college, and makes it impossible for her students to learn and pass.
All grades are simply made up by homework which is confusing. All homework assignments claim to be opinionated, but if you're opinion is different from the professor you're wrong.
Good lectures. She and her teachers assistant were tough graders. The assistant would be terrible with giving feedback as to why you're being graded so low. If you're not writing long answers you will be graded more than half down. No quizzes, exams, or papers but if you're not receiving full credit on the assignments then it's difficult to pass.
This professor will never give you an 100% and makes your work feel good enough. She will expect you to back up everything you mention and if not your points get taken off by a lot. Expect to read and write a lot in this class that is just a directed elective. Defintely avoid her.
If you ever want to get bullied take her class. She should actually be under review by the way she speaks to students. Her expectations are a joke and the way she grades resembles that. When she will email me back I would read it out loud to my friends and they will be in shock at how rude she was. Save you money and time take other professors.
If you are a criminal justice major do not take this professor, the worst criminal justice professor. Save your money and mental health. Not worth it, ever.
Stay away! If you want to get bullied by a professor take her she will send emails with a belittling tone. Not worth it at all, save your money and self. You will never receive full credit on any assignment at all and her TA is the same awful!!! Literally mean girls
Horrible if you see this professor for a class do not take the class Honestly you are better off taking it the following semester with someone else. So rude, and never gives you full credit for anything. Her TA also zero help.
Horrible
Beware, do not take her class!!!!! Wished I saw these reviews before
Do not take this professor.
Please beware and do not take this professor. I honestly think she became a professor to target students and make their lives miserable. Your life will only get harder and stressful taking her.
I regret taking this professor. She gives so much work and stresses her students out. She gives an insane amount of work. I spend hours and hours a week trying to do all her work. Will not take her ever again.
This is the worst professor I have taken in my 4 years of college. Never gives full credit and expects you to write paragraphs for one simple question and 6 points. Makes us think we are the problem for getting such low scores. Her TA is just like her and will take 2 points off just for missing a small detail. Never again.
Worst professor in cal state LA
Avoid please !!!
do not take this professor! lectures & reading is everything. the quizzes are 3 questions. worksheets are worth a full letter grade and she has her own grading system that's different than canvas. she blames students for being confused. if you email her, she will give sassy replies and if you ask for your overall grade, she holds that against you!
WORST PROFESSOR EVA
This class is a tough one, but using tools like Unstuck ai alongside the required readings can really help. Expect a lot of writing assignments that are graded harshly, so stay on top of your work. Avoid this professor if you can - the grading system is confusing and unforgiving.
Got falsely accused of working with another student. Literally did all my work on my own and didn't work with anyone else
This is by far the absolute worst professor I have ever come across, never seen someone thats so inconsiderate of their students. The lectures and PowerPoints provided are useless and not helpful what so ever, you get accused of wrongly cheating, she doesn't care about your struggles and wont give you points unless you do it HER way.
This professor is so petty and will fail her students out of spite. Avoid her at all costs.
Lisa Graziano is the worst professor I've had at CSULA throughout my almost 4 years of college. She wants everything and I mean EVERYTHING to be exactly her way according to her lectures. She will even go as far as to accuse of cheating and using AI even if you make the slightest mistake. She's also very petty and will report you to the university.
The worst and most rude professor I have ever had. Take anyone else besides her.
The most rude and unprofessional professor. Will nonstop accuse you of cheating and report you for nothing. She reports you without having any factual evidence and makes your life extremely difficult. Even when you are trying and failing she tells you you're going to fail anyways so she'll freeze your grade more than halfway into the semester.
