Nice lady. Her lectures cover the book, but make it more interesting. She's understanding, but fair. The tests are curved, but they're still pretty difficult. Online assignments suck, even though she didn't make them up.
shes not a very good teacher. was gone for more than half the semester and isnt very helpful. her tests are somewhat hard but the online assignments killed. shes ok if your a person who can read the book and learn from it cause thats how i survived.
Took this class last semester. This class requires a lot of time online. The tests were somewhat tricky and hard. She was gone almost a month or so...The only thing that suck about this class is the aplia online which you have to pay. It does help that she grade on a curve. Overall, nice teacher.
WELL THE GOOD THING IS SHE GRADES ON A CURVE BECAUSE HER TEST ARE SOO HARD. MOST OF THE QUESTIONS ARE TRICKY AND SOME ARE NOT EVEN COVERED OF MENTIONED IN CLASS. I REGRET TAKIN THIS CLASS. THE ASSIGNMENTS ONLINE ARE OK THOUGH.
She is very boring in the classroom. Her tests are hard and the material is not covered very well in class. The book is also very boring.
If you want to get an A or B Grobars' class I suggest you read the book. Her notes and aplia are not really helpful when you study for the test.
Too much difficult information in a 50 minute class time. Doesn't take time to answer questions. She's messy when it comes to explaining the graph. Getting a C in her class with ALOT of effort. Regret taking her.=(
I took the hybrid class, one online assignment due every week. She burns through her notes in class and expects you to learn most of everything from graphs which do not make a whole lot of sense until you read the book. Don't miss class, or you'll miss the essays on each exam.
hybrid course. boring. never showed up to class, but past every exam with a "B." just need to read the book. online hw assignments every week that basically quiz you on the reading. she curves on exams. not a difficult class.
Felt the subject was a difficult in itself, and she does her best to explain it. There are no structured notes, and she rushes through the ones she does. I thought the Aplia (online) assignments helped practiced the material, but they don't replace the teacher. You should be OK if you do show up to class and do the online assignments.
If you do all the online assignments and turn everything in on time, you are guaranteed an A, because you will consequently be able to do well on the tests
Lisa Grobar is a decent Prof. The subject is very complex so its hard to cover everything in 50 mins. The Aplia Assignments are not too hard. As long as you go to class and do the assignments you should do decent. She has a huge curve 70 is a B and an 87 is an A.
Make sure you read the chapters and the online assignments each week. She does not do too well of a job teaching in the lectures. The curve is there because she is somewhat of a difficult teacher. Also goes through the lectures quick and never lets you leave early.
chill class....never went and got a B. Try to turn in most of the online assignments, study good for the tests, and you'll get a B. Insanely boring and sleep-friendly, hence me never going t class
Painfully boring class. I never went. you could pass with a C if you try. Try hard, you'll get a B maybe an A because of her curve. She has a huge curve because her tests are hard. Online portion was easy as hell though
This class is easy. Never went to class, studied a bit for tests and did well. If you did well in high school econ, this will be easy. Online portion is really easy. She does a decent job of explaining the concepts in her lectures, that is, she did when I actually went to class...
Some of the chapters are fairly easer and easy to understand if you read the book...her notes didnt really help at all. Its a hybrid class which means there are no classes on friday but you have to turn in your homework instead. The online homework are pretty easy but the tests are really hard. I don't think the class average is any higher than a C
I would suggest taking another class because this one you have to study a lot and do online assignments every week.
The lectures are really boring, and the tests are just as hard. the class avg. for the final was a 49%...it was curved though. The online work was easy but its only 2/9ths of your grade. Only have 2, 50 min classes per week which was nice.
I wouldn't recommend this teacher! Online assignments were easy but only 2/9ths of your grade. She doesn't make the material very easy to understand and the tests are difficult. Even though this class may seem nice because there isn't as much class time, I would def. recommend you taking a different teacher. I recieved my first C EVER in this class
I do not recomment this professor. The material is fairly difficult. Questions on the test weren`t relevant to the book.
Such an easy class. I suspect that people are complaining because they didn't study for the tests. 85% = A The tests aren't that hard provided that you study and doing the online assignments (with a conscious effort) will help. If you're not willing to learn the material, don't take this class.
She was not available at all for the final. What she said to study was never actually on the exam. Said use the book to study but during lectures said that the book was wrong and don't use it. When she was available she was willing to help. But overall the class average was a 60% and instead of trying to teach the material differently she simply bl
I took the hybrid course, and she was always behind on the syllabus. There are 3 midterms and a final, which is cumulative after so many midterms. Her class is quite hard, and some questions on the tests are unexpected and hard. Attendance is not mandatory, sticking to Aplia can help a lot if you don't go to class. I relied on Aplia more than her!
I took the hybrid course with her. Her mid terms were easy since it's in class lecture. Final was cumulative and tough. Online assignments were really easy and helped you to understand class materials.
the hybrid course relies on aplia alot, but her lectures only coincide w/them 1/2 the time. she tries 2 make it interesting, but sumthings she didnt emphasize enuf. curves a lot, weekly online assignments help. 3 exams & cumul. final. book helps a lil but not enuf where u'll get a hi grade. got 2 Cs & 1 B on exams & a C on the final & B overall
don't buy the book! just take notes. curve is massive and i love it! easy class, great teacher! must take!
Okay, she seriously just like to listen to herself talk on the mic! & likes to watch herself write about things that aren't even relevant, and doesnt't write the important stuff down! the book isn't necessary. three midterms, and a final all mc.
She sucks. The midterms are super hard, but she curves them alot.
I thought this teacher was fantastic.A its 85%. go to class, take notes, read the chapter over and you'll get it. Its easy! I thought the class was interesting and Prof. Grobar is very helpful, just shoot her an email. 3 midterms, one cumlative final, & aplia online weekly assignments. It is NOT a hard class and only people who don't study fail!
This professor is amazing. VERY helpful when you have questions. She goes over everything so many times you have no choice but to remember it, and she includes this Aplia thing that makes everything make so much more sense, and lets you practice a lot. I didn't even get the book and got an EASY A. Take her!! And try to get the hybrid class for sure
She does not know how to teach Economics well. This class is not a great help with 101 either. Try to avoid her, if you can.
she's very smart and knows alot about econ. if you wanna do well, just make sure you do the aplia assignments online very well. Go to class, because she randomly checks attendance and it counts for part of your grade; go in for office hours and/or study practice tests for the exams.you should be fine :)
THIS LADY IS SEXY. LOL. She is a great teacher and she grades in a curve. Show up to class follow the notes and do the online assignments and you'll be fine. She's great at explaining things and keeps it simple. Her pace is moderate, not too slow or too fast. She is very helpful and encourages dialogue in the class.
Horrible econ teacher, terribly hard class and this is coming from an A-B student. Huge curve is the only thing that saved me. Online hw difficult, office hours unhelpful. Do not take.
Loved this class. I was a little disappointed because I would have gotten an A had it not been that Aplia was worth so much. Other than that great class and I recommend it. Read the book, do Aplia (on time!) and attend class and you should do fine
Very knowledgeable and uses real life and professional experiences to discuss class materials. Very insightful. The APLIA quizzes were quite a downer but over-all ok. Highly recommended!
Lectures are boring, but her notes are helpful. Aplia online homework is due every Friday. 3 midterms, 1 final; her tests are alright, but final is hard. Grades on a curve (85=A), which boosts your grade up one letter. Her class isn't an easy A, but it's definitely passable.
Not an easy class. Her curve is the only way you'll do well in the class. I would recomend buying the book even though it's not required. Her lectures are BORING but take good notes.
If you have taken an econ class before then this class will be easy. Those who havent struggled with this class. the overall subject is easy even though she is not the best prof. she has a nice curve for all tests & if you do well on final she will boost your whole grade
I definitely recommend this teacher. She curves exams. She drops 1 exam score and two lowest hw scores. Her midterm questions are pretty easy. Don't read the book, study for midterms by doing practice problems and graded problems in aplia and studying the lecture notes.
Here is key to success in the class. When aplia hw is due fri, instead of doing it on fri, do at the beg of week sunday. Do practice prob and graded prob before coming to class on mon so that you can understand the mon and wed lecture. On thurs and fri, study her lecture notes and redo practice problems& graded problems on aplia.Start early to suceed.
Sort of a difficult class. One of the exams is based on an economic novel so its like an english class where you gotta read the book to do well on the essay exams (really? come on). *EXTREMELY HARD GRADER* Will take huge points off for the littlest mistakes. I wouldn't take this if I were you but then again some are doing well in my class so...
Go to class and take notes! Go home and study it. She does a massive curve in the class! I went from a B to an A! I recommend using the textbook and doing the practice aplia assignments early so you know what areas you need to work on! Easy to pass! Best of luck!
Got a D on first exam, got c on second exam, got d on first exam, got a c on final exam. But she drops one midterm score. Got a overall B in the class. Amazing or what? Just do the homework at least.
her lectures were dull and unorganized. she just scribbles on an overhead projector. the tests were hard and asked questions such as What country has the most export services?.. its really hard to study for. and she doesnt give study guides or a practice exam like the hybrid teacher for econ 101 did. avoid!
midterms - easy( as long as you study her notes and read the book which is free online ) btw she drops your lowest midterm score aplia hw- easy
A little boring and because it is a hybrid class, only 50 minutes class which was not enough time to fully understand the material. No study guide and not clear on what to study. Be prepared to teach yourself but major curves on the exams and drops the lowest midterm and two aplia hw assignments.
Takes off points for the smallest things. in class is not graded on effort. Grades are differently weighted which is stupid. Head blocks projector so can't see notes. writing somewhat sloppy. her grading is horrible. don't take
online book, never used! no study guide which makes tests harder! aplia hw is confusing but if you go everyday and do hw you should get a B!
Had a good time in this class. The lectures were only an hour long which made it bearable. Online textbook which I never used. She drops the lowest midterm and two Aplia assignments. Tests are a bit difficult and are hard to study for. Overall take this class because of the light workload and the fairly easy material.
pretty easy class however the final is cumulative, also there are in-class assignments so i recommend attending every class. if you have a genuine interest in econ it'll be an easy A! plus you will learn a lot of useful things!
The most boring profesor ever. I studied for hours prior to the tests, and I recieved a 57% and a 34%, so this class is difficult even putting the work into it. No one can listen to her for more than 5 minutes because her lectures are very unorganized and she has many long pauses. Do not take her.
Tests covered pretty much everything that was in the FREE ONLINE TEXTBOOK (awesome, I know). Read the textbook and make sure you understand the basics and how to apply them!! The class is just a bunch of axioms that build on themselves with a bit of logic. I got an A even though I didn't go to class just by reading the book. Very clear teaching!
I have never liked econ, but this professor made it interesting. She was very clear in lectures, everything that is on the tests is covered from notes in class or the online homework. Drops lowest exam and 2 lowest online assignments, curves slightly if you improve on every test. Overall pretty easy class just do the homework and GO to lectures
Professor Grobar is a little old fashioned with her notes (she still uses a projector and will typically scribble her notes all over it). 3 midterms and best 2 are counted, online assignments, and cumulative final. She curves your final grade pretty significantly. Somewhat easy teacher, but incredibly monotone, and needless to say, boring.
Thought I would fail the class because I didn't take the pre-req's but ended up with a B by doing well on the paper and on the cumulative final exam. Curves on the exams. No study guides. There is daily in-class assignments. Difficult class but a great capstone to take, you learn a lot! One paper, three exams, never used the book. Excellent teacher
I took the hybrid section. Half in class, Half online. I highly recommend it makes the class so much easier. Lectures were boring even as an Econ major which sucks as she a very nice person. Do not be afraid to ask questions.
I took the class 100% online. I had gotten an A all along the class until after taking the final where my grade dramatically went down to a B. No in person office hours was quite a challenge.
Great professor. She uses class time soo wisely. Curves like crazy.
The class is easy but her tests are nothing like anything she teaches. She is pretty useless but at least the book is really good. That is my only gripe with this lady.
This professor is very challenging and I do not recommend her. There is no study guide and she teaches you a large sum of material that won't be on the test. Aplia(Online HW) is fair, but not easy, only worth 2/9 of your grade. 2 of the 3 Midterms count towards your grade and there is a cumulative final. There is a heavy curve, which helps.
She was a great professor. Definitely knew what she was talking about. Online homework through Aplia is mandatory and she curves greatly.
She's ok. I took the hybrid course. She still uses the projector to lecture. She doesn't give study guides or guidance on what to study for the tests. Attendance isn't mandatory but I would recommend it because the notes are all you got. I didn't buy the book, but I wish I had for the notes I missed. Weekly online assignments; 3 midterms & 1 final
Took the Hybrid class. 3 Exams and 1 Final. Exam questions are similar to the Aplia homework questions. Attendance not mandatory but is very helpful
Hybrid class. Attendance not entirely mandatory, since everything was online. Curves tests, a PLUS. Lectures can be boring. She's pretty clear on the material. Textbook (online) was mandatory.
Very tough class. Boring lecture and no study guide for exams. Final is cumulative. 10 graded in-class assignment and a presentation. A lot of reading. Overall not recommend to take this lecturer.
Her lectures are boring and really long. She throws so much info at you and expects you to know everything. Her lectures are all over the place and she's a tough grader. Also, she tells you to study something before the test then doesn't even test you on it!
It's not the hardest of the econ classes, but it's a lot of work!
She has the biggest curves on the three tests, especially the final. No papers. It was a 50 minute class, so she would use every minute of it. weekly online homework assignments. she was pretty easy to understand. pretty good teacher overall, not so bad.
I took the hybrid class and the class is not mandatory and she puts everything online so you don't really have to go every time. Boring lecture and shes confusing because shes half on her power point and half writing stuff down idk maybe its just me. Online HW every week so probably should do that. Just study her notes on beach board. CURVES
Hybrid class, all hws are done online. 3 midterms and a final, all MC. Class is easy but she's horrible! Not helpful at all!! As long as you dont have to talk with her face-to-face or ask for help, you are good.
This was a hybrid class. The lecture and powerpoints followed the text so it was easy to study the harder to understand concepts. Economics wasn't easy for me but I got a B. She was willing to change the weight of the final if it would help the final grade. She wants to se the student succeed. Good instructor.
Multiple choice exams, some homework was tough, tough homework grading.
It is Hybrid Class. Textbook is unorganized, and online textbook for poor. Too many online assignments which strangle me which is not much helpful. No study guide, but too many things to study though. you can test your endless memory ability. If you want to learn something, don't take this class. If you want easy good grade, don't take this class.
Hybrid class. Homework was due twice a week and material was based on lecture videos posted online. Exams are a bit tough, but she does curve based on class average. She posts additional math problems that are helpful. I ended with a B
Great Professor. We had to read 2 books, but they were easy reading. She is very helpful and really wants you to do well in class. Respects students and is very dedicated to making sure that you get the material. Definitely would take again!
Great professor! Cares about students, gives great feedback. Interesting class. She has in depth knowledge of the material and gives real life examples. Highly recommend.
ATTENDANCE NOT MANDATORY. Class is graded out of 9. HW -2/9, midterm - 4/9, and final - 3/9. HW is due weekly on online website (SAPLING) which costs $40, but the online textbook comes with it. Tests are medium difficulty and similar to the online HW. Tests are graded on CURVE : 85+ A, 70-84 B, 60-69 C, 50-59 D, and are 100% MULTIPLE CHOICE.
Super nice professor, lectures are great and relatable. You will defiantly not regret taking her class!
Professor Grobar was an ok professor. Attendance isn't mandatory and assignments are due once a week. She has an easy grading scale where an 85% is an A in the class. I should've done better but did not spend too much time studying. If you study and are dedicated you can definitely get an A. Material may seem difficult but pay attention.
Great professor. Really cares about the students. Doesn't take attendance, and doesn't get upset like most professors when you show up late to an exam. Curves all of the exams. Overall she is really down to earth and cool.
Professor Grobar is honestly one of the best professors I've had this semester. She's very specific in her lectures and she'll answer any questions you give. There are 3 midterms, one final, and possibly extra credit assignments! As a hybrid class, there is weekly online homework. Her tests are fairly easy if you attend lectures.
Lisa is a good economics professor. She knows what she is talking about and wants to help students to pass the class. I had her for macro-economics, which is a tough class and passed. She does her best to help students prepare for the tests. However, her political views do become apparent throughout the class which is not good. Would recommend her.
She's an average teacher. The class was incredibly boring and the times I did show up, I could not pay attention to save my life. If you need to take her for credit, look at other professors first.
DO NOT TAKE IF YOU WANT TO PASS/LEARN! lectures were long & boring, taught directly out of text and sounded like one too. her political views were also prominently brought up which was annoying. classmates always skipped because the text is mandatory & online, as well as lecture slides. tests were very difficult, and she never provided study guides
I had to work hard in this class but was able to pass with an A. There are no study guides for exams so my technique was going over past assignments, key terms, and PPTs, which can be a bit stressful as some PPTs had over 50 slides. I recommend going to her office hours to clarify any topics before the exam. Overall great professor and class!
Attend office hours when you need to, shes sweet when you get to know her. All of her tests are multiple choice so take this class if youre good at it. Econ is never an easy subject so attend lectures. She grades by ninths: 2/9 sapling, 4/9 midterms, 3/9 final. She curves by a lot so take advantage of that: 85+A,70-84B,60-69C,50-59D,49-F
A lot of material in very short exams, 7 chapters of material for a 25-30 question exam. Be prepared to study the big concepts but a high-point question be about a very small aspect of the chapters. She does curve exams. ONLINE CLASS use LockDown Browser. TOO MUCH TO STUDY FOR A FEW QUESTIONS ON EXAM, that are weighted high
She's a really nice professor when you visit during office hours but she grades really hard. Don't take this class if you're not good in asynchronous classes & if you can't put the work for it. Tough grader. Be careful about exams, lockdown with mic and camera has to be on (no open notes/book). If I have any advice, work ahead & go to office hours.
This was honestly one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Beware of this class. Don't take it for a requirement, take something else. She grades extremely hard, assigns way too much work, and her tests are the SO hard. She has the LONGEST and most confusing lectures slides that are way too heavy. Don't take her, 0/5.
Exams have way too much information to memorize, plus she doesn't provide study guides. Exams are roughly 75% of your total grade so if you don't do well on the exams, you're out of luck. The assignments and presentation slides aren't really that engaging or helpful. The textbook is okay, I just wish she could narrow down concepts for the exams.
Challenging class, but with strategic studying using resources like Unstuckstudy, I was able to pull through with a solid grade. Tough exams, but professor is helpful in office hours.
