She was i good teacher. if she likes you..bonus! do your hw and reading. oh and participate in class! you will get an A. she is also very helpful
She is really interesing. She goes off topic a lot but tries to make class fun. She always has crazy assingments but its an easy class. Get on her good side and participate and you will do great.
She will only give you a good grade if she likes you.Get out of her class before it starts. She will help you if you ask, but she def has favs..She goes way off topic and by the end of the class will end up giving you 6 more assignments than the ones you already had for the night.It's a lot more work than you would normally get for an this course!
horrible teacher is really unclear on what she wants in a paper and will tell you you did great on one paper and then fail you on the next
Never, ever take a class with her. She claims to be interested in class discussion but will never shut up about things that have no relevance. She was a horrible grader. She gave me a B on a paper because I got an A on the previous one and said she had higher standards for me. Extremely pretentious, loud and doesn't except absences at all.

She is an absolutely amazing teacher. I loved going to class because it was always lively and interesting. I learned so much and greatly improved my writing as the semester went on. YOU WOULD BE CRAZY NOT TO TAKE HER CLASS! SHE IS AWESOME!
This is possibly one of the worst teachers I've ever had. She will not grade fairly, she talks nonstop although she pretends she is allowing actual discussion and she is completely self obsessed. English is my major so this wasn't a difficult class for me, but she made it so unbearable. She doesn't allow ANY absences.
She told me she loved my writing; it was "fantastic!" .. but on worthy of a D+ ..
i loved her!! she is a great teacher. she's very undestanding with deadlines and assignments, if you talk to her she will work with you! she brings up great class discussing and is NOT your conventional teacher. genuinely loves her job and cares about her students. she is absolutely amazing and EVERYONE needs to take her!
In my opinion, she is a good teacher, but a bad person. My experience in this class showed me that she is not punctual, vague, and especially: two-faced. Has no problem being dishonest as long as she remains in good standing with the university. Disheartening to find out that a professor I trusted in a school I pay so much for can be so shady.
Lisa was by far the best teacher I ever had at Temple! She is a wonderful person and a great teacher. She helps promote thinking outside of the box and is open to all opinions!
She was a great teacher now that i look back on it. While i had her i was confused the whole time. the discussions were random at times and she would throw in random 1 pg assignments on top of papers we already had which was a pain.. but overall i learned to question things and to be more aware of the world around me.take it and show up!
I have Lisa right now and I really like her. There is a good bit of one page papers, but all the writing assignment can be used when you right youre papers. She's VERY approachable and genuinely wants to help her students. She can sometimes come off a little out there, but I would definitely recommend taking her class.
Lisa can't keep her head from moving around. Her eyeballs roll around in her head like an alleyway dice game. She is playing it to assure herself she knows what writing is. Although she insists her class is outside of Temple's "bureaucracy" she will turn around and throw it in your face when it saves her time or effort.
She is very two faced. I like her and I know she means well, but she's incredibly hypocritical. She just wants you to like her and believe she means well, when she just a puppet in the system like everyone else. its pathetic. and take my word for this, cause i got a b+...and im telling you what i observed.

Professor Grunberger is a nice woman, but she assigns quite a bit of work each class and can go off on tangents for most of the class.
One of the worst professors I have ever taken! I struggled so much for a C-. After paper conferences, I asked for some help understanding the ideas of the text but, she recommended I go to the writing center. I did went there and the staff tell me to go to the instructor to find out. Very rude and obstructed professor!
Grunberger is a little bit out there and can come off as rude at times but all in all she's pretty nice. There's usually homework for every class based on the readings, which is what the papers are based on so they actually help write your paper. There's 3 major papers, somewhat of a tough grader. If possible, take a different professor.
She's is a lil weird, but a great Professor. She's very hard and gives lots of work, but she made me a better writer. She gives great feedback and will help if you ask
Professor Grunberger was very tough in the beginning of the semester. As she got to know our class she warmed up and became more approachable. I did dread some classes when they were just purely discussion(which happens a lot), but overall my experience in her class was positive. She means well and is understanding if you needed to hand something.
A lot of people knock Dr. Grunberger, I personally loved her! She is very nice, very helpful and straightforward. To add on to the 3 descriptions I would add: Would Take Again, There For You, and Skip Class? You Won't Pass. Don't skip or you will fail! If you can, take her, you won't be disappointed!!!
Dr. Grunberger is a lovely woman but she very much makes you work hard for an A. She genuinely cares about helping her students. Sometimes in class she goes on tangents and does not discuss the material. Much of the class is taught through oral presentations by the students.
Professor Grunberger is genuinely good and passionate about what she does. She wants her students to succeed and believes that every one can do so. However, DO NOT take her class if you are not willing to put in work. Personally, I had 8 classes when I took her's and I wish I had known before hand how much work it would actually be.

A nice person but her class wasn't great. A big fan of busy work and assigning mini papers for every reading. Let's you revise papers as many times as you want to improve the grade. Meets with you after every major paper to offer feedback.
Dr. Grunberger is an amazing woman with a real passion for everything we discuss in class. She is extremely knowledgable as an english professor and is a great writer. She is very passionate and truly loves what she does. However, she is a tough grader and gives a lot of busy work. There are homework assignments for almost every class and she is brutally honest when grading papers. She does not always provide good feedback but she will let you revise your papers as many times and is willing to read over them.
Great professor but lots of work.
I took Grunberger for English 802. Her class is discussion-based, and the discussions get political. You are expected to participate. She has good intentions but is often quite unclear on what is due. A lot of the homework is 'optional,' but near the end you have to do the assignments. Great person but alright professor.
Least favorite class of my first semester. You will read and write a lot. She's extremely liberal and infuses her bias into every aspect of the class. She is a kind person and is willing to help you with whatever you need, but she is sort of all over the place when it comes to lecturing and giving out assignments. Rarely collects assignments too.
If you care about civil rights, you should consider a class with Dr. Grunberger. If you're not very liberal, you might not agree with her at times. Despite that, she always stresses the importance of considering all viewpoints. She'll be honest if you can't write, & allows unlimited revisions of your papers, mostly because she wants you to learn.
If there is any other professor available, take them. I dreaded going to this class every day. Even with many hours of help from the writing center and journalism majors, my papers were still not good enough for her. She comes off as sweet at first, but the people leaving her conferences crying says otherwise. I would not recommend her ever!
dr. grunberger is very passionate about her views and if you're not very liberal, this isn't the class for you lol. she gives a template for how she wants papers and although it won't help you with any future writings, if you follow it, you should be guaranteed a good grade. also, you can review papers as many times as you want.
Worst professor ever. Acts nice, but is mean spirited. Passing grade depends solely on classroom participation and agreeing with her. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
I went to her class for one day, then dropped. Ended up taking the same class, just with a different prof. I can only imagine how much more difficult my life would have been if I kept the class. This prof is a big nope, take someone else.
She gives you small summaries to do that help you in putting your papers together in the end. They may seem annoying, but they are extremely helpful. Her feedback is good, honest and helpful. I regret not taking her for ENG802. She can be bias in her opinions, but is very knowledgeable. I always left learning something new and feeling inspired.
Do not take any classes with Dr. Grunberger. I have dreaded each and every class that I have attended, not a single one has been worth my while. She requires a lot of pointless busy-work that contributes nothing to the course. She is egotistical and self-righteous. Her essays are unnecessarily complex. Do not take her for any class.
I like Dr. Grunberger. Her class is very heavy on reading and if you miss more than 4 classes, you will fail. She is a very sweet and understanding person and she wants what's best for her students. She is very accessible and offers a lot of help for her work, but make sure you keep up with it.
Told me my negative attitude toward the class (fidgeting and boredom) was bringing her and the rest of the class down. The class group chat would say otherwise; her insane amount of work and droning classes are bringing people down. She basically said I should just pretend to be happy about being stuck in her class just to make her life easier.
At first I was skeptical of her methods, but she is very encouraging and really helped me progress as a writer. She is understanding and caring. There is a bit of a workload, but it all helps in the end.
Professor Grunberger is one of the best professors I have had in a long time. Gives homework that some might seem pointless, but when you begin writing your papers, you will se3 that your paper is basically done, because its in the homework already. Talks a lot and has a hard time focusing on one thing. Tends to ramble and get off topic. Also gives out a lot of homework that sometimes is collected. She makes you read a lot and makes you write a lot. Another thing is she makes you print out everything so be prepared to spend money on that. Also no technology while in class; no phones/computers.
She gives a lot of homework and only grades some of them. She failed one of my papers because she did not agree with my argument, rather than grading it based on her rubric. She took criticism to an extreme and made students feel bad about themselves. A professor should never penalize a student because he/she does not share the same views :(
By far the WORST PROFESSOR I've had at Temple so far. She openly disrespected students and class and would put on a facade on actually caring for her students. Her office hours are a waste of time since she says you're doing well, but when final grades come out they're a different story. Do yourself a favor and do not take her, it's depressing.
This class requires a lot of work, along with luck. The grading is highly subjective. One day me might be feeling good and rates your paper fairly well. Another day, she will bash your paper, and you, for little reason besides her mood. She expects her class, a gen ed, to be your priority, so defintely put your best effort into it. Don't take her

Do not take her for any of your english classes, she is a subpar teacher. For one, she didn't teach us anything throughout the semester, we had to learn everything from research to writing long papers. In addition, she expects you to already be high level writers when most students have had little experience with analysis papers. Avoid her period!
I do believe Dr. Grunberger cares about her students but she definitely has an odd way of showing it. This class is not an easy A, so if you take her prepare to work. She is also very wishy washy in what she asks you to do. Unlike other 802 professors, she requires her students to purchase 3 books which definitely is a negative.
By far one of the worst professors Ive ever had. She was very erratic in terms of the content of the paper. One class shell say youre paper is great but during conferences shell tear you apart. She also didnt care about any students well being and refused to give extensions/help even if we had problems. Dont take her for any English class
Love Prof. Grunberger. She assigns a lot of homework - you have something to hand in every class- but its helpful because it pretty much writes your big papers for you. She really cares about her students and is very encouraging. Don't take if you don't like discussion heavy, hw heavy and a little weird. I'd recommend, will be taking her for 802.

Absolutely terrible. If you can choose anyone else. A terrible professor, and somehow an even more awful person, who expects the world of us. She wants you to live and breath her class with an absurd amount of work. She expects students to write long arguments without many of us knowing even how to write one. Shes the worst professor at Temple. Very rude and condescending to students she doesnt like. She was not understanding at all and would never extend deadlines or show empathy to students who had other things going outside of class. Her grading rubric fluctuates every essay so its impossible to improve. Avoid her at all costs and youll be happy.
Even though she is a nice person (at times) she is a questionable and rather rude lecturer at most. She ridicules her students claiming it is criticism, but fails to recognize some of us did not have the right schooling when it relates to writing. She was nice to me and sang my papers praises, but I will never take any of her classes again. ��
Tons of reading!!! Weekly assignments that don't get graded and would be worth the work if they were beneficial later in the class or with other work but very few are. Tells you one thing in your conference for each paper but when final grading rolls around it's a very different story. Even if you're a stellar writer, you won't be after this class.
Lisa is a very genuine and nice professor who actually does care about her students but she is a very harsh grader and does not really care about hurting your feelings. She will tell you one thing in a conference and then the next time she will say something different. During class she got off topic a lot and assigned homework that was never graded
Grunberger has good intentions. Wants all her students to pass, but she expects you to revolve your world around her class which can be difficult. She gave us unlimited opportunities to revise our papers before the final portfolio which was nice. She will help you any chance she gets if you need it. LOTS of reading and writing so be prepared.
It all really comes down to your papers and how good of a writer you are. There will be lots of reading and even more writing. Homework assignments will be assigned but never graded/mentioned again, which can be a good or bad thing depending on who you are.
Her class is definitely something to work for, but if you go to class and reach out for help if you need it - it's a lot better. She is so kind and understanding and really does care about her students.
Professor Grunburg acts like she cares about her students. And let me tell you, she doesnt. She was unhelpful and rude. She only allows her opinion in class and in your writing. She doesnt even grade the portfolios and its not nearly as harshly graded as she acts. Dont bother try and make an appointment with her if shes busy, she wont show up
Lisa is very unforgiving. Claims being sick is not an excuse to miss class, will not assist students who happen to miss class. She is very unclear about homework and consistently tells us to refer to syllabus for all coursework, but it is inconsistent with what she discusses in class. very blunt with critiques and not nice about anything.
I do not recommend taking this class with her! I had to drop the class because of how terrible it was. She acts like her class is the only class you take and that you don’t have 4 other classes to worry about. Everything she talked about made zero sense I could never follow along. If i didn’t drop when i did i would’ve failed 100%
This professor constantly contradicts herself. One minute she is praising your work in class then in the next class she is tearing it apart. She lowered the number of sick days from 6 to 3 and if you had gone over 3 sick days it affected your grade. Her opinion or the high way.
Terrible professor and somehow even a far more worse person. Take any other professor besides her!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS OR PROFESSOR. I'm not one to say bad things about teachers but she honestly makes you feel like a horrible student because you don't do her papers the way she wants you too. She will flip out on you for the littlest thing (Trust me she did with me) Assigns so many homework just to not grade them.

Professor Grunberger is the one professor I felt really cared about me and wanted to see me do well. She is a wonderful quirky woman who definitely cares about each and every one of her students. Though her course is somewhat difficult, it is not by her doing but by the course criteria.
Seemed cold at first but opened up throughout the year. I thought she would be a bad teacher due to her low score but she was one of my favorites. Cares about her students and wants them to succeed. That being said, she makes you follow a strict rubric for writing with little leeway and gives a ton of ungraded but mandatory homework.
Iffy morals but she was a good professor. Sees you as an individual and gives good feedback on papers.
Professor Grunberger is an AMAZING teacher. She is very engaging and truly cares about her students. Her course is perhaps a little work heavy, but mostly little writing assignments that save you hours when it comes to the final papers. She lets you redo your assignments as may times as you want (theres no reason you shouldn't get an A!)
Please do not take this class unless you are forced too. She assigns a ridiculous amount of work and the instructions are not clear. Half the class dropped out the first week.
Absolutely dreaded going to each class, and get ready for your mental health to tank. She is very strong on her ideals so don't bother showing your opinion. She is all over the place and you will be very lost trying to figure out what you're doing in class. She is narcissistic, for the love of god if you want to enjoy your life do NOT take this.
This professor is very harsh and confusing for any student let alone an undergrad. She doesn't like technology and doesn't post the assignments on Canvas, everything is verbal. There is no leniency with attendance, you only get 5 per semester. She gives non-stop papers. Her workload is insane. When we can't do it she says we are lazy students. EVIL
I'm conflicted on how I feel about this class. She's very nice and definitely cares about her students, but it was unorganized and we were constantly falling behind. She said a LOT of out of pocket things and never seemed to realize what she was saying, but it made class more interesting. It's a creative writing class, but we read more than wrote.
At first she seemed strict and condescending but she grew to be more lenient and nice throughout the year. She's very intelligent and genuinely cares about her students and their learning. If you don't like English or don't care about it, you're going to hate this class and this teacher. Don't take this class if you don't want to put in the effort
AWFUL! Only thinks her opinion is right, if other people have different opinions she makes them feel bad for it. Total 4 papers throughout the semester and Paper 4 should be around 15-20 pages. Does not try to help students at all!! Had to withdraw from this class and I took same class with another Professor and got an A.
This professor is not good at all
She is incosistent, what I mean is that she will say we will do this tommorow, and when have the class on that day, she doesn't do it. Alot of times, she drags her on how she feels about her worldview, and it can be very repetitive. Papers she assign are really time consuming. If you do not like writing papers, then she is not for you.
Might be the worst professor I've ever had. To all students who want a good English experience I highly recommend taking another course. She is harsh, has little leniency, is selfish with her view which affects the content and credibility of the course, and will give you a course load that is the same as every other class combined.
Grunberger's unpopular class is a stressful regret. Despite knowing student complaints, she ignores them, labels them as "disgruntled". No posted grades leave you in the dark until a bad transcript. Excessive, inconsiderate workload leaves many behind. Heed the warnings; avoid this class entirely. I was foolish to disregard the negative ratings.
3.5. It's tough. I liked her, her class really worked for me. But I understand all the criticism.. Overall, she's kind. Rigid with her views and wishy washy with just about everything else. Probably not for everyone, but I still found merit in what I learned in this class.
