You have to do the assignments exactly to her wishes. Commas where she would put them, dotted i's and crossed t's. I knew the material and was confident, but if you turn in your work exxactly as her key looks, you will get marked down severely.

One of the hardest teachers I have ever came across. Have to do the homework exact of you will get marked off for it. Never worked so hard for a "C" in my life. She makes you learn the information just very hard class.
She's a nice southern lady and kinda funny, but her assigments are long and hard, if not exact you'll get marked off, i barely got a "C"
The tests were fairly difficult, essay based. The project was also pretty tough. I was very happy with a B. Class lectures were powerpoint based, not my favorite method. She has a good sense of humor and disposition.
Her lectures were power point based... We have a total of 7 quizzes (multiple choice/50q's), 1 research paper, 3 hrs of being part of research, and a midterm. She is very biased... focuses on the feminist perspective, and if not for her laptop she probably couldn't lecture. Other than that, she is an average prof.

I took her for psych of women. Interesting class and she knows a lot about it. Tests are very hard as there is a lot of material, but there is usually some extra credit to help out and class work to bring up the grade. There is no sway in her directions
this is my second time in psyc 5. she is much better than jensen. i am actualy learing things in this class. you must get the book. can get a B if you go to class and do studyguides verry well. KNOW THE STUDY GUIDE. read if you want an A.
I loved her class! I learned alot about how psychology works in the real world. Her tests are hard, but if you study you can make a good grade.
online. Has so much reading it's ridiculous and necessary if you want a good grade. We read the entire book. She didn't do anything except grade the paper we had to turn in. Everything else is done by the online website. She doesn't do lectures or anything. You have to read and teach yourself through tutorials. Not really hard, just A LOT of work!
I enjoyed her class very much. She is clear, funny and engaging. You have to come to class and read the book to get a good grade. She has a lot of compassion for her students but the class is "not a walk in the park."
She does not have a textbook which is good but requires a ton of article reading that she provides for you. This class is like an online class, you read and take a quiz everyday, she rarely lectures so basically you teach yourself the material. Avoid this professor if you do not want to read a billion pages each night.
ONLINE. Homework, quiz, and test about every week. One paper. Research hours and 2 midterms.
I took Harrison my first semester at Sac State and couldn't pass her class even with a tutor. She got tenure that semester but she never should have.
This was an online course which was very easy. Assignments are clearly stated and you have an amnesty period if you miss some. The midterm and final are both online or in class and 3 hours of research participation is required.Because it is online you need to stay on top of things. Don't get behind and you'll do just fine.
I found her unreasonable, very rude & confrontational with her students. Hard to believe under her professor desciption at CSUS the following:Prejudice and Stereotyping, Self-Esteem, Social Identity and Intergroup Behavior, Email: [email protected] Research opportunities with Dr. Harrison self esteem.
Horrible teacher! Unapproachable, inconsiderate, very rude and not availabe. Doesn't care about teaching or her students just her pay check!!! AVOID HER SHE IS VERY UNREASOANBLE
SHE IS AWFUL! She is rude, does not care about her students, is horrible at constructing valid tests, has you do a ton of work for no reason considering she does not test on the work you do! I feel she needs to quit her job. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!
Great online class. Very well organized; go at your own pace. She was a little bit of a tough grader on the writing assignment but there were so many points available that it didn't hurt your grade. If she was teaching another online class I would take it in a heartbeat.
Her online course was very easy. The only bad thing is that there were a lot of wrong answers on her Chapter exams, but after emailing her, she reasonably changed the answers or explained to me why the answer is initially correct. She is a hard grader on the research essay, but overall, easy online class. (no online lecturing, ALL teach yourself)
DO NOT TAKE HER! So concerned with students cheating that it disrupts her ability to teach. EVERYONE in our class was comlaining about her first test on the discussion board. Instead of addressing the issue, she just deleted the discussion board.
Difficult course. Attendance is not mandatory but would advise going. She is very detailed and not everything she says is on the PP. She talks in extreme depth on topics. MC exams are incredibly difficult, she does provide some extra credit opportunities. Got an A but worked very hard. She's sometimes funny, but really knows her stuff; interesting.
She asks for a lot, including a lot of reading. You learn a lot, so probably not a good idea to take this with other hard classes if you want a good grade. Sometimes messes up (like on quiz answers), but who doesn't? Anyway, she teaches very thoroughly, and if you can't handle that, just don't take her.
This class was AWFUL!! Its so sad when the material is not that bad, but the teacher is HORRIBLE!! She does not have valid tests and nothing is straight forward, every test question is like a paragraph and is some stupid situation. She is rude, and when studens try to find out why they didnt do good on their exams, she will just say it is your fau
I did not like her procrastination, she waited until the last minute to write her tests and give out study guides, which was very inconvenient. So concerned with cheating that it made very comlicated. She cant take a step back and wonder if why everyone does bad on her tests is due to her testing style and writing, no it is our problem. BAD PROF!
This class was horrible! She is overly concerned with students cheating that she purposely makes test extremely difficult. She doesn't want you to know about the texts book but wants you to know what SHE thinks of studies. She's a paranoid teacher. So paranoid in fact she was surprised when someone got 100 on her test! SHE REGRADED IT TO MAKE SURE!
Her class is hard so avoid but she is just a horrible teacher. Really, its sad thats shes teaching. Take Bohon for this course shes hard but you learn & she likes what shes doing & it shows. Harrison is probably the worse professor I have had to deal with.
Ridiculous to study for before exams. The class practically had to beg for a study guide. She gives a lot of assignments,so don't miss any if you want to pass. You have to read/re-read every question on tests and she barely gives you enough time to take her timed quizzes/tests.Don't test online!!Take in class!!She's preoccupied w/being hard to pass.
Yes, Dr. Harrison is intimidating, sarcastic, brutal, and difficult. But she does this to weed out the weak. She also does this because she's not the type of professor to put up with B.S from students ( lies, excuses, lack of effort, those trying to 'wing' it, stupid irrelevant questions). Unlike a lot of other classes, in her class you would actually have to do that dreadful college thing- STUDY. So, my advice is for you to go to class, don't sleep, pay attention, take detailed notes, and read!
Summer class is easy just show up and pay attention. Do practice quizzes online and read and you'll do well. She is amazing for advising especially career advising. Can't understand why people don't like her! Class is not hard AT ALL and shes funny and nice! Totally reccomend!
You will warm up to Harrison. Her class is not an easy A, however if you go to class, do your work and study you should have no problem passing her class. She expects the best from her students and does not allow people to slack off. Make sure to take her tests in class instead of online.
Do not take her class! She does not have good command of the English language and writes very confusing tests. She holds the students responsible for her inability to teach. The subject is relatively easy yet she makes it much harder than it needs to be. She almost wants people to fail in order for her to feel good about herself. Terrible teacher!
Dr. Harrison is no joke. You won't sail through her class, that's for sure, but she's not unreasonable. Her tests are a challenge and she does assign homework and online quizzes. She is a little weird about the possiblity of "cheating".
I usually like my professors but honestly there is something about Dr. Harrison that I just don't like. Can't put my finger on what it is though. But as a professor she is decent. Sometimes she is clear with what she wants or other times she will spend the first 30 mins of class trying to clear up the confusion.
Great Prof! Kind, funny, and willing to support serious students. Transparent and sharing appropriate subjects!Loved Her!
I loved this class. Dr. Harrison is such a great teacher. She is clear and well-organized. She is hard, but if you study and come to class you can pass easy.
Hard, but fair. Go to class dummies and you'll actually learn something. I loved her class. I actually learned something.
This class is interesting. The tests are not easy in fact they were hard because there is a lot of information to remember, but she explains the articles and clarifies any part of the readings we have questions on. I would recommend the class to anyone with a strong work ethic because there is a lot of reading and studying.
This course was very straight forward and interesting.
Very knowledgeable, very personal, love her!
I liked the variety of learning resources (books, powerpoint, online articles, videos, guest speakers). Dr. Harrison made it interesting. You could tell her heart was really in it. I'm proud to say I'm a feminist.
I learned more in this class than in all my other classes combined! I like that there wasn't any busy work, everything aided my learning. Dr. Harrison has an excellent attitude and is very passionate about the material
The tests are straightforward and do-able, she knows her stuff
One of the best classes I have ever taken. Rigorous, but learned more about qualitative research. Loved the research articles chosen, stimulating and challenging. CSUS is luckey to ahve such an outstanding professor on the faculty.
I enjoyed learning about the subject, you have open my eyes to a different sight on women's role in society. Thank you. Even though I never spoke in class you did challenge my critical thinking.
She is awesome. Manages to get a large lecture hall in a discussion and makes the class fun and enjoyable. Make sure to read the text, the tests do have a good chunk of info from the book not covered in lecture
I loved this class. Dr. Harrison is really passionate about teaching. She also demands alot from her students. She challenged me to actually study, read the book and come to class. Guess what? I did and I learned! I also got an A :)
If you want to learn about Social Psychology and how it relates to your life take Dr. Harrison's class. Just don't expect to make pass unless you are willing to study.
Dr. Harrison was always open to any of our questions. She had a way of clarifying confusion. I highly recommend this course and Dr. Harrison
When I signed up for this class I didn't even know what qualitative research was. But, Dr. Harrison really broke it down for the class. It wasn't easy and it is a research methods class, so remember that. But, Dr. Harrison brings it.
Good course.
I think I would have liked the class better as a lecture class, but Harrison has good system and I think I learned what I needed.
This class was easy, but there was a lot of work. Just don't get behind.
I don't really like online courses, but Dr. Harrison really helped me when I was having a hard time. Buy the hard copy of the book, it'll help.
Easy class. She doesn't record herself lecture. I mean I thought that's how online classes are supposed to be. so this class is pretty much teach yourself, book is highly used. I took it online and probly my last online class. It's easy, just do good on quizzes cos it adds up.
Good course, for an online course. Dr. Harrison has some recorded lectures that you can listen to. I used some of them and they were helpful, but I mainly stuck to e book.
I don't really like online classes, but I couldn't fit another lecture class into my schedule. So I took this online intro psy. It was OK, but I think I would have liked it better in class. I emailed Dr. Harrison almost every week with questions and she always answered right away and was real helpful.
I think I learned a lot in this class and it wasnt' too hard. But, there was a lot of homework, so you have to keep up. There is a quiz every week and a couple of homeworks and short writing assignments every week. I'm not a psych major.
Intelligent, charming, approachable, funny, and helpful. Having said this, BEWARE ! Dr. Harrison's main focus is to fail students. This is no secret, she's honest about putting extra effort to make exams hard. I'm an A student, yet I got low scores in some of her exams. Quiz every week (even within the same week of exams). You've been warned !
I'm a pre-psych major, so I was leery about taking my first psych course online. But Dr. Harrison has a good system and I learned alot. I think I'm ready to take upper division courses now.
I love Dr. Harrison's Social Psychology class. Finally, a professor that actually makes me think and work hard. Lazy students beware, she is not for sissy. But, if you want to learn something about human nature this is the class to take.
She is a very engaging teacher, the material is interesting and she is funny. however, the class is difficult. I attended every class, read the book multiple times, etc and I only managed to get a B. I did great on quizzes but the exams are tough. this class is not for the lazy.
Read the book, come to class, study every week, work hard on the quizzes = A
I don't think Dr. H is that hard, but then I don't mind studying for my grades.
Earn your A! Social Psyc is not an easy course. Her lectures are interesting and she's pretty funny. But you need to study, read the book, get good grades on her online weekly quizzes and you'll be good! She suggested to me at the beginning of the sememster to read the chapters twice! I did that and got an A (96%) on her first exam!
Took Dr. Harrison over the summer. I worked hard and made my A. Sweet!
I loved the online intro to psych course. I was struggling in the class at first but Dr. Harrison gave me some good advice about how to make a good grade. The course has a lot of work, but it is really well organized. If you do the work and learn the material you can make a good grade.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS! This online class has way too much work. A ton of homework and quizzes I thought it was way too much work for an introductory class. I would've rather taken a lecture class.
Great Teacher, Her class and teachings stay with me still. If you take her make sure to do the practice quizzes until you get a A on the practice Quizzes. Without a photographic memory Overlearning is best in this class. She is also extremely helpful if you go to her office hours and she will clarify in class. Make sure you go to class!
Avoid the online class. There was way to much work due every week, especially for an intro class. Tests were hard. I didn't learn much. She is very organized though, and clarifies her assignments. She is always willing to help, and understands our busy college schedules. This class definitely will keep you busy.
NEVER TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS. Seriously, her online class has A LOT OF WORK for a 3 unit class. I got an A on her class but I spent roughly 9-10 hours a week . Worst of all, you have each week and they were timed 25 mins with 25 questions from the BUNCH of assignments that you did for that week.
This class is harder than it looks. There are weekly assignments and a test due each week. The work is very time consuming. I would rather take it in class because that would have been less work. But as long as you put the work and time into it, you will get a good grade.
This class was fun, but tough. This class isn't like most online classes because there is a lot of work weekly. It is time consuming and it is hard to catch up if you slack off. However, Professor Harrison is very caring and does try to help her students pass. Interesting class, good professor, but a lot of work.
Loved the material, hated the amount of work. (although, it was reasonable for a winter course, I suppose). 1 thing I hated was 25% deduction on late work. For so many things to be due every single day, you'd think she'd make it 10%. Received good grades, was deducted a few times so it affected my grade pretty badly. No EC, no bumping up of grades.
It is a lot of work each week, but if you stay on top of the assignments you'll do fine. Even though it was online, I still learned a lot.
Very simple online class. Read, do the online hw, do the online quizzes exams, participate in a couple research studies. No final exam.
This class is deceptively difficult, however, it was one of my favorites. Dr. Harrison is awesome and helpful. She wants you to learn, and learn I did. You need to stay on top of assignments and readings, but she is more than happy to help if you need it and she is one of the most approachable professors.
I loved this class because of all the interesting topics and how well she lectured but you do have to work for your grade. There were 6 essays where you answered questions about empirical studies and they were time consuming. The tests are hard but if you really study and comprehend the material you'll pass them.
She is a great professor, her lectures are easy to follow and provides a lot of clear information that is extremely relevant to the material you will be tested on. You do need to read the chapters for the exam and quizzes. Most of your grade comes from your exams, which are not easy. You have writing assignments (6 of them) that are time consuming.
Worst teacher I have ever taken at Sacramento State University, DO NOT TAKE HER. She's horrible, assigns an unrealistic amount of work, and tests that are almost impossible to get better than a C on.
Does not take opportunities to clarify concepts in class and becomes short with students. Unapproachable, talks about bad students as examples in her lecture. which does not make students feel welcome to talk during office hours . Exams are worth 80% of your grade and she does not drop any.
I am taking this class in the summer online. There is a relentless amount of work. I am not a fast reader and I have not gotten more than a C on any of my work. I mostly feel because of the work load and there being no lectures online that this is the reason. I learn more from lectures. Dr. Harrison is quick to respond. The most stressful course.
I just loved Dr. Harrison's Psyc of Women class. But, don't take her classes unless you are prepared to actually learn and work for your grade.
I took this class over the summer and although I had a rough start, I ended the class with a, B. I am normally a straight A student. How I earned a B was the fact that it's strictly learn on your own through the book. You can understand what she hopes or be told you are not understanding what you should know. My papers I submitted were B average.
One of the hardest graders ever. Wrote some of my best work ever, but toughest grader. Miss a single class? Good luck.
I took Psych of Women online over the summer. I learned so much from this class, but really had to work for my grade. Dr. Harrison answered my emails right away and was always helpful. I really enjoyed the readings and like to write, so this class really worked for me. This class is not for students who don't want to work for their grade.
taking her now for 145; big class with over 100 students; lots of reading, but pretty clearcut material; going to class everyday and not getting behind is essential; learning alot about social psyc;
When I signed up for this class I was really nervous because I had heard it would be hard. It was, but I actually learned a lot about women, feminism, and psychology. It was a lot of work, so only take Harrison if you're ready to dig in. No textbook, just a set of hard readings.
Dr. Harrison was very knowledgeable about social psychology & also very funny. She offers help to students & encourages discussion in class. This class was not easy. The tests are pretty difficult & the study guides were long, but if you study hard, you'll get a good grade. There's also online homework due every week & attending class is mandatory
I took this class online. There are MULTIPLE weekly quizzes. No matter how hard I studied, I couldn't get above a B. There were things on the quizzes that I did not see in the reading and I emailed her about it and she just said "study more". Material is dry, but not terrible.
You really need to put time into her online class. But quizzes and tests are all based on the readings. Put time aside to concentrate on the homework, which isn't much, and you'll pass.
It is clear what is expected. Can be overwhelming because it is online and everything is different every week. If you do the reading you should be fine..
Reading, videos, and quizzes. Offers a typical online class with a moderate workload, grades are definitely earned. Very clear about what is needed, make sure to do consistently well on each week's quiz and homework, based primarily on reading from online tb. If you truly wish to be excited about psychology, you may want to try an in-class section.
Everything is very clear cut. If you do the online readings and take notes you will pass. Keep up with the work and do not procrastinate. Good teacher and very helpful. She responds very quickly to emails.
I took her online class so I didn't get to know her personally but the class was of average difficulty. She assigned weekly modules that are clear cut, containing reading, videos, & quizzes. They weren't hard but not very interesting either. Two midterms and a final. You have to participate in 3 hours of psych studies.
Dr. Harrison is nothing short of excellent. She fleshes out the lectures with both personal examples and important historical ones to ensure her students are understanding the critical material. Social psych is a bit brutal in some ways- Dr. Harrison does her best to make this simple. You will be happy taking this class- I recommend!
Lecture wise, class is interesting. However, the grading system and exams are difficult. You have to work for it. Homework and Photo Essay Project (major assignment) is worth 20% each of final grade. Exams are tough tough tough! No study guides provided for exams, you go off of learning objectives to prepare for the exams. Are you willing to fail?
A knowledge fun professor but her teaching style isn't good, nor the way she structures class. A LOT of reading, 4 or 5 chp + 6 or 8 research articles per section! Tests barely relate to lectures, but you still must go. Not reachable outside of class, takes many days to respond to emails & doesn't respond on wkends. Posts important stuff last min!
I took this course over winter intersession so it was pretty difficult but her class was very organized online. I always knew what was due and when. She is a pretty tough grader but she was responsive and understanding a lot of the time. Winter intersession is totally worth it if you're willing to put in around an hour or two a day.
Dr. Harrison is nice and approachable. I find her class extremely difficult due to the fact the class is graded with 80% test scores. Normally this would not be a problem however, her test are extremely difficult. I will not take her again, nor would I recommend her.
Interesting class but lectures the whole time, sometimes shows videos, and gives good examples. Also sometimes gave out charts that would be on the tests . Offers study guides but reading the chapters helped more. We were given multiple choice tests every two weeks which were pretty difficult. Few essay style homeworks that are several pages long.
Her lectures are all over the place and irrelevant to tests. She gives study guides and test questions but the tests are still really difficult. She is also a super tough grader. There are 4 homework papers and I would spend upwards of 5 hours on one and still get a C with zero explanation as to why. I would never take this class again.
Do not take her class. She is super sweet but her class was very hard and lecture and study guides werent too helpful for the tests. You have to read literally everything in the book to do well on her exams. Could have worked harder honestly but even with studying I did poorly
PSYC 2 online consists of reading a chapter then getting quizzed on it with a couple assignments each week. also need to participate in psyc research - 3 hrs total. not bad at all, especially considering psychology is an interesting subject. would recommend this to all the nursing majors who have to take this! she also gives out extra credit
Online class was pretty easy! Quizlet helps you study ;). Her WEEKLY modules/final grades include of an inquizitive assignment, a small writing assignment (which is 4-6 questions average), a practice quiz, and the module quiz. You have to participate in 3 hours of research & she gives extra credit once. The online class is $40 btw.
A good professor but lecture heavy. You will really need to make time for her class alone to get a decent grade on exams.
Hands down the best online course I've taken. Clear guidelines and grading criteria. We had a practice quiz and module quiz due wednesday and thursday of every week. Do the reading and you'll pass. Extra credit at the end of the year. She is very accessible if you need help. 5 stars from me!
I took the online class and it is pretty clear on what you need to do each week. I skimmed the online textbook but quizlet was my real tool ^_^ Inquisitive and written assignments were a headache though. Pretty good class its not too hard, just do the work on time and you will be fine
Online class was very heavy on reading. Heavy workload that's hard to keep up w/ if you procrastinate. Easy tests & quizzes if you take good notes. Lockdown browser is required to prevent cheating. Offers 1 extra credit module that's recommended to raise grade & if you have time. Research participation was switched to fully online during pandemic
Im glad Im not the only one!! She may be a good professor like others are saying but the exams& quizzes for this class are insane. She personalizes the questions but the book& vids are very factual. Not subjective. Most likely going to have to challenge my grade at end of semester cause I study for hours for this course and still get a C.
She is a good professor and very accessible. BUT, the exams are so unnecessarily difficult. Questions about small details in text. Only required ebook, said tests were open book, but then also requires lockdown browser? How is it open book then? Tests are times and stressful bc you have to search for little details in book (had to buy looseleaf)
made my semester so unnecessarily hard. There are 3-4 assignments a week: 2-3 quizzes and a writing assignment. She is so picky and critiques every little thing, but she makes so many mistakes herself! For example, her quizzes have so many grammatical errors and it can get confusing, yet she grades us on grammar and punctuation.
The weekly module usually consists of reading the chapter, a practice quiz, a module quiz and sometimes a reading assignment and sometimes we watch crash course videos to help you get a better understanding. Just be organized, don't wait last minute and you will pass. I usually split the reading in half for every week making it easier to get done.
Professor Harrison is an expert in this field. If you want to take her course, you must be ready to devote time because she gives out 2-3 quizzes and 1 written assignment every week/per chapter. I took her course online because of Covid 19 but overall, Professor Harrison is very nice and knows what she's doing.
Her class was fully asynchronous. We had 2-3 quizzes per week on lockdown browser, based on a chapter of reading and any videos that we watched. On top of that, we had to do a writing assignment that was usually a minimum of 500 words. All of the work was due on Tuesdays. The class was interesting but I felt like I was teaching myself.
Dr harrison is ok, she's kind of a tough grader. her course load is not bad, but you have to read the textbook and watch short videos for each module if you want to pass her quizzes. no midterm or final. and short writings for some of the modules.
Asynchronous class. One practice quiz, chapter quiz, and module quiz due every Tuesday. For some modules she has 300-600 word writing assignments due. You need to read in order to do good for module quiz (no answers online except for practice quizzes). No midterm and no final. Offered a lot of extra credit, 45pts.
What a joke. Can't even create an exam without typos. To the point that they make you completely unsure of what the answer. Her lectures are terrible and she cancels more than half her office hours. Don't waste your time with this lame excuse of a professor.
AVOID!!! THE single worst class and THE single worst professor I have taken. The grading was unfair. She degraded us as students. She gave generic/the same reply to every email. She cancelled every optional lecture on Fridays. She simply does not care about you as a student. I cannot believe sac state has let such a horrible professor teach.
Literally ruined an interesting course. She specializes in psych of women but couldn't even be a great lecturer. I only took her because there was only 1 section. Avoid. her at all costs. Never in my 3 years at Sac state have I taken a terrible professor. Bi-weekly quizzes, Bi-weekly papers. I'm a great writer and she even scored them low. /:
great professor and is very passionate about her job; tests are difficult and include 4 chapters of material
Exams worth 76% of grade. Missed one exam due to serious illness and would not let me make it up despite her syllabus saying so & I would be paying for it on my own time with the test center. All of the essays are graded by Pearson Revel. Even if the grader gave me a 4/4 I would still get a 60-70 on essay. Avoid this professor.
Dr. Harrison is a very approachable professor but her grading criteria are all over the place in my opinion. I feel as though I missed the connection between her lectures and her test expectations. She will grade you heavily on exams and unfortunately, I couldn't keep up with her coursework expectations.
She's not a terrible professor. I think as a person she is really nice, funny and helps you feel motivated with her lectures. The work you have to put into her class however, I feel is unnecessary. There are questions that come with the readings for each week that are not for points, but are really helpful to do to be used as a study guide.
Approachable and easy going personality. 4 exams, noncumulative, essay questions. She advises that we just write as much as we can, no real guidance. She doesn't provide an official study guide, but there are reading guides with each article. She answers questions by asking more questions, so with complicated course material, can be frustrating.
She's not that bad. Idk why everyone freaks out when they have to read a couple articles a week. The thing is if you're not interested in the topic of the manyy theories of motivation, it's uninteresting. However, she is very nice and helpful to students when they ask for help. She doesn't like when so many people skip lecture
While there is no textbook, you are assigned weekly readings, with questions to answer in place of a study guide, only to discuss them in class and perhaps ask questions. The material on the test (relying on paper essay questions) varies, and can lack some concepts. Her behavior indicates that she does take things such as attendance, personally.
Dr. Harrison is not so great as a professor. She can be funny at times, but that's really about it. This is truly an "all-or-nothing" class, points are based on 6 hw assignments and 4 exams. All of the material is given through provided very dense research articles that wants you to read before lecture. It was pretty disappointing...
It is an interesting class, but difficult with the required readings. The exams were essay questions and I think the grading was fair.. I feel like the required readings were just too much, though, and 4 exams is a lot. If she can cut down to 3 exams, I would recommend this class to anyone.
Dr. Harrison is great, but some of her tests are unclear in wording. I personally enjoyed her lectures but i believe you could easily succeed without attending them. No textbook, but lengthy articles. Her exams are easy, just study a ton before. They are mainly essay questions and some multiple choice. Great professor- funny, accessible and caring
This class was ridiculous. I put all my effort into it and am leaving with a 79.82% in the class after I was sitting at a 85 before she graded the final. Tests were 99% essay, graded harshly by the teacher looking for words or terms she may not have mentioned in lecture. EC offered for 1% of grade (1000 page paper not guaranteed 1%) Never again.
Professor Harrison is my favorite professor at Sac State. The best lectures. Interesting topics and great delivery in lectures.
Her class is a lot of reading. I have taken various online classes since 2018 and her quizzes are only to be passed if you actually do the reading. Which is time consuming for someone who works a full time job and is a full time student. Her grading criteria is different from other professors as well, and she expects a lot when it comes to journals
This was definitely the most challenging and time consuming course I have ever taken. You "choose" your grade the first week of the semester. If you want an A you basically have to do triple the amount of work, and even after that the A isn't a for sure. Very tough grader, be ready to write a lot if you take this course online.
The direction she took the course regarding motivation was very interesting and eye opening; HOWEVER, she uses a unique grading system and to get a minimum of a C you will be writing 900-1500 words just about every week. An 85% on an assignment is a "A" because to get 100% you need to go far above and beyond the requirements listed.
Dr. Harrison's class is challenging but engaging. The essay-heavy exams require a lot of preparation, but her approachable teaching style and helpful use of unstuck AI make it manageable. Attend lectures and use study tools to succeed.
I like Dr. Harrison, but I felt that the scores of the test shouldn't be so high where it impacts on our grades.
The course was fascinating and insightful but highly writing-intensive. Grading felt unclear and arbitrary. Assignments that strictly followed instructions and showed strong understanding only receive an 85%. Earning an A required meeting vague, subjective criteria with little to no feedback.
The tests in this class account for a major part of the final grade. But, Dr. Harrison makes darned sure you have a thorough understanding of the material. I have learned more in her class than in any other. If having to apply yourself doesn't scare you, take Dr. Harrison. She will make absolutely sure you learn the information provided.
Dr. Harrison's class is very interesting, but very difficult at the same time. There are only 3 exams and each makes up 75% of your grade. Exams cover content from lectures and both textbooks. The trick questions make them especially difficult. I would avoid this professor if you're able to.
Avoid if you can unless you're good at taking tests! She allowed us 3 time to miss class before it affects your grade, so if you are sick, hurt, dealing with personal issues more than 3 times in the semester, just make sure you're in class. I very much did not enjoy this class.
If you are working, be ready to challenge yourself to pass this class. The information in the class was interesting.
