This is a class about racism which is a touchy subject. If you are open minded this is a really easy class and really interesting. A big part of your grade is just showing up. Everything you need for the tests is given in class. A lot of it is common sense. Lots of extra credit available

I had Lisa for the race and ethenic relations class, she is a great teacher. She is very passionate and knowledgeble about the subject of racism as well as its history. The class is not hard at all as tests are easy and she offers plenty of extra credit. She does keeps the class interesting.

Dr. Harrisons class is a class that everyone in America should be required to take. Her discussions are interesting, yet she makes a very comfortable atmosphere for people. She is incredibly knowledgable about her subject and she is a true educator!!! Knows her stuff.....TAKE HER CLASS U WILL BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND****!!!!!

Her class is VERY EASY, but it's not just that, she really knows what she's talking about and cares about her students. she's not bad when it comes to attendance too. she very understanding and funny...please take her class..you won't regret it!

well, dr. Harrison is really nice. but the class requires leg and arm. here it are the facts:18 quizzes, 5-6 exams, 13 forum postings, and 2 papers. all this for 3 credits worth. the material is easy, but you have quizzes and postings every week. honestly, it was too much work. you need a lot of free time for it. i don't recommended this class

The class was really fun and I enjoyed this class very much. However, she gave 3 tests, 1 final exam and 3 papers. If you are an ESL student, you may work even harder to get good grade.

online class: it took so much work. constantly weekly quizzes, exams, postings plus papers...just be aware that you do need a lot of time per week to finish these assignments

The online section of Psych21 was a great experience. Dr. Harrison is wonderful and the material interesting. You must be self-motivated to do the reading each week, but if you do you should have no problems with the quizzes or exams. I'd say this was an average amount of work for 3 credits.

She's a great teacher. Very understanding. Speaks clearly! She's one of the best teachers I ever had! Likes to know everyone by name.

I think this is the only way can thank her. An fancy vivid lady, kinda holds high expectations but reasonable. She makes the lecture clear enough for everyone in class. With such sense of humor and the acting talent, I guess, she could be a movie star or whatever if she quit teaching.

She's the best! Her class is interesting. She always has some interesting story to tell us, since she's a Psychologist. As far as classwork and tests goes she always gives the outline to us STRAIGHTFORWARD. Tests are always a take home essay part and a couple of in-class multiple choice Q's. If I could take her for another class I'd take her again.

I was actually sorry when class ended, because I liked her and my classmates. And this was an online class, so experiencing that sense of connection with people I'd never seen face-to-face was remarkable. I credit Dr. Harrison with creating such a fantastic atmosphere. i freaking LOVED Dr. Harrison's class. She's the best professor at CCSF! there is very minimal homework and it's all interesting to do, so that rocks. the tests are kind of hard, but she really helps you prepare for them, so you should do well if you go and take copious notes. You can tell she's passionate about Psychology and she is very kind :)

This is a great class that is very interesting and doesn't take up too much of a students time. Weekly reading, online quiz and forum posting + 4 exams over the semester. Dr. Harrison is very organized and gives all the tools for her students to do very well in the class.

COULDN'T ASK FOR A BETTER TEACHER. She's friendly, funny, animated, always encourages class discussion and questions. She makes sure people are paying attention and recieving the information well. She CARES about teaching and the topics. She has an unbelievable amount of experience with all facets of psychology, making her wonderful to learn from.

Wow.. its the end of the semster and every seat is still full. She used to be a shrink but she says her true calling is teaching and I agree. She works every angle so whether you are a visual or audio or kinesthetic learner as long as you come to class you can learn a lot. I think a lot of other teachers could learn a thing or two from her too!

Took her one unit Assertive class very easy. Easy final and you can get A without reading book. Class gets kind boring afterwards.

Dr.H: THE Psych prof you need. Seek her FIRST above any college in the Bay Area. CCSF is lucky to have her. She's a star and a reason to attend CCSF. A few profs need to retire already but not her. She loves her job. Her online class = amazing; writes with a sharp easiness, gentle tone, & authenticity for your success. A+++ on reference letters.

She's engaging, animated, and clear. You can follow her notes and she's pretty fair on the textbook material for tests. Brings a variety of group activities or surveys. She's great.

Psyc 21. Don't take this class if you are lazy & are seeking an easy "A" -You have to work for it. Work load: Wkly quizzes, 4-midterms, 1 term-paper or 4 shorter VC papers, weekly online discussion points, and online responses. Dr. Harrison is very knowledgeable & is kind in her on-line responses and feedback.

You do have to do a lot of work, but this is the best teacher there is for psychology. she is funny and always try to compare life events to her lectures, I did learn a lot. I took Villalta the year before and he was awful & boring, got and F, but with Ms. Harrison I got a B. just do your work and take notes, they are very helpful. =)

Amazing professor.

Dr. Lisa is an amazing professor. The information is not super difficult but it is not easy either. She is very clear on her expectations. Definitely read the text assignments and keep up with the forums - they will help you with the quizzes and exams. She drops your 3 lowest grading quizzes and your 3 lowest grading forums.

She is amazing. I learned so much from her class and I actually enjoyed doing the work. Take her class!!!

Awesome class! Dr. Harrison lays everything out, nice and clear what is expected from you. Online class was quite challenging but as long as you do the readings you'll do fine. Do the Virtual Child assignment! It's a fun way to actually apply the things you learned in the readings to raise a "Virtual Child".

This was my 1st online class and I'm happy I had Dr Harrison! She is very upbeat, very positive, and very encouraging. I really learned a lot from this class. Lots of reading (we finished the whole book), weekly quizzes, final exam, forums galore, final project. Just follow her guidelines and you will get an A. Be insightful. She's very generous!

2nd class with Dr. Harrison. I'm a bit disorganized so online classes are tough but she makes online learning fun and manageable. She is GREAT at communicating and she gives you good feedback. Her tests are hard but her discussion forums are engaging and you can rack up points that way. She also gives out extra credit opportunities. She cares!!

This professor prepares you for success academically, this is not an easy (A) however Dr. Harrison is preparing her students to become academically successful, she has taught me to write an APA style paper, do research and write at an academic level. There are many professors who give out free grades, this does more harm than good. She's the best.

Took the class in '15, but she is a amazing! Always prepared for lecture, graded papers on time as promised, and gifted as an instructor. Even if you're not majoring in psychology, take a class with her!

Super organized and fun online class! Gonna be reading the entire book and taking weekly quizzes. There are forums and a research paper, but all very doable! She provides EC opportunity at the end which is great to boost your grade a bit! Easy class overall as long as you keep up with the work and deadlines! Highly recommend!! :)

Ab. Psych. was a difficult but rewarding class to take online. I really appreciated Professor Harrison's organization. She was very communicative and clear about her expectations. She leaves nothing to question. Read the book and complete the homework, and you'll have no problem passing quizzes and exams. Professor is very supportive if needed.

I love Prof. Harrison, she's such a mom and it sometimes reflects on her lectures. She's super nice and really wants her students to succeed. Her class can be difficult if you don't pay attention to her lectures so don't fall too behind! There are two midterms and a final, before each exam there is an essay due the day of!

She was one of the amazing pioneers of online classes. This is soooo cool! Helping single parents and others with scheduling issues. But really instructional, and you absolutely need to do the reading and reflect about how it relates to you.

I took her a while back. She had us write a letter to our unborn child. One day I will actually give it to my child. She makes you dig deep, vulnerable, helps you grasp the importance of the subject matter. I wish I could take her again.

Took her for social psychology. Amazing professor; very caring and funny. Often relates materials from the class to her personal life, which helped me understand each concept and theory better. Never a boring day in class.

I took her hybrid class and its an easy A. At least 14 discussion posts, 4 exams, about 13 quizzes you gotta do, and a project either virtual child or research paper. She gives great feedback that motivates her students. Ill take her for Psyc 1.

I have never ever met a professor like Dr. Harrison. She is an extremely dedicated and amazing human being. Her workload as a prof is about 10-20 times than my Psy 1 prof., so does my workload in this class. This class is the only class that I read the textbook cover to cover. I'm a pre-nursing student. Truly a life-changing prof -- you will WORK but you will learn and dig deep into your own history, goals and thinking. My online class was harder but the in-person class I took was more stressful in terms of attendance/punctuality. Really CARES about us students and you can trust her with your secrets :) Extra credit very helpful. She is the best!

I took her during the Summer. You have to stay consistent, there are about three discussion posts a week. Pretty easy going as long as you do the work. Gives good feedback about your strengths and weaknesses in your writing. You get three discussion post passes so use them! She's very nice and very understanding. She doesn't tolerate cheating!!

She rambles on a lot and the discussion boards can be pretty heavy at times. Overall good class. I'm sure for a psych major she'd be amazing, but for a simple pre-req class she overloads with work. At least she's nice.

Dr. Harrsion is one of my favorite teachers now. She gives AMAZING and such detailed feedback, you always know how you're doing in class. She has recorded lectures so you can just listen to them instead of a bunch of slides to read. Her schedule for the class is very manageable, and she tries very hard to make it enjoyable! I took an online class. One chapter reading(60 pages), quiz, and either discussion or research paper every week based on readings; It is possible to skip 3 discussions. Professor Harrison is amazing, provides good feedback, and wants you to succeed. Some extra credit oportunities. Not an easy class, but helpful.

The lectures are very engaging and their transition to online classes are some of the best. Everything is so clear and concise, you truly do learn from them and they have a very obvious love for what they do. Cannot recommend enough :)

Lisa Harrison's PSYC 1 class was so organized and fun! Completely online course as part of CityOnline and had no issues with it. Easy to understand lectures and other class material. I learned a lot in this class and usually don't like participating in discussion posts but it was all so insightful, I liked all the work that was assigned weekly.

I have never taken psych before, but it was the best when I took it with Prof Harrison! If you are deciding between different psych teachers I would definitely recommend taking Prof Harrison. She is very understanding and caring! does not give out tons of homework only a decent amount which was maintainable. Great prof would for sure take her again

It sounds like a lot, but everything is well organized and not too much at once if you time manage.

She allows for skips on discussions and quizzes if you feel too overwhelmed. I love that she gives detailed feedback and shows that she cares for her students. Professor Harrison was a great teacher. There were quite a few assignments due each week (quiz and discussions) but if you read the textbooks they are doable. The textbook for PSYC1 is a bit dated/bland, but not difficult. There are a LOT of writing assignments (discussion boards), which is pretty tiring near the end of the semester.

Such a great class, I learned so much! Dr Harrison gives amazing feedback. At least 30 pages to read every week but I loved the readings! Weekly discussion posts help express your understanding of the content. Weekly quizzes are short and quick. In the semester we did 4 exams total. Lots to do, but it was so worth it!

Dr. Lisa Harrison is a fantastic professor. I was working full time and struggled to keep with the homework. There was an exam due right after spring break and multiple other assignments due the same week as a research paper. I started strong but am feeling burnt out in April. The content is important and interesting but I struggle to keep up.

Dr. Harrison's class is a must-take. Assignments are based on weekly discussions and quizzes, with a few exams. Her lectures are interesting, and she goes in-depth into the topics you learn.
