A challenging class! Tests are free response, only takes well thought out + expanded answers, as well as 2 essay questions based on lecture topics. Class is almost exclusively lectures, I never had to open the text. She also talked about a political simulation and about how fun it was all semester, then canceled last minute
Great teacher! Strongly passionate for her job. Is will to work with students who ask for help or are having problems understanding the material. Keeps the class interesting and fun.
Easily the worst teacher I've had in my college experience thus far. She gets off topic way too much, and stays off for the majority of the class. I learned more about her personal life than I did about politics. She does not care for her students when she sees the entire class struggling. Avoid her class.
This class is very easy as long as you do some studying for the test. There are 3 essays, I did not do one so that was the only reason I received a B. She is very liberal and a feminist. She will push her views onto you and attack you if you do not agree. Overall easy class but she is annoying.
She is a very kind and helpful Professor. Her doctorate shows as she definitely commands her knowledge of Political Science
She is a great teacher, but then again I know more of her life. She knows what is doing, but gets off track. I took her class and others where failing, she cried, and showed that she really cared for our grade. Study on tests, she gives study guides. There are 20 vocab to memorize, and 3 essay topics, but only 2 get chosen randomly on the test.
Professor Henkle is awesome! DO THE WORK and you shall pass!!!! It is almost impossible to fail this class unless you are slacking off. She is easy going and understanding. I strongly recommend taking one of her classes.
I took the class with Ms. Henkle in the summer course (5 weeks), even with the fast paced school lifestyle I managed to get by pretty good. Just do the work, study, and you'll pass(all the exams, writing assignment, and lil stuff are not that hard). She does tend to get off track in lecturing talking about her personal life but i didnt mind haha.
This teacher is awsome, from the first day you will be laughing. She gives two books, but she focuses on the governemnt book more. Her assignments are easy; she has the current events, and a research paper. The longer the paper, the better the grade. Her tests are easy but you have to read the material. overall an amazing treacher
Doc Henkle is very passionate about her work. I wanted to change my major after taking her class, i didn't. That goes to explain how fun her class is. Pay attention to her lecture. She provides study guides (exactly like the test).
Professor Henkle is AWESOME AND FUNNY!!! If you need to take any political science class take her! There is work involved but its not work to make your life hard it is work that prepares you for later. She cares for her students and wants all to succeed and you really can just by doing all the assignment and all the extra credit she offers.
Professor Henkle is such an awesome professor. I took her over the summer and i was worried i wasn't going to pass because i was not into politics, but she made the class very interesting. She gets off topic a lot, but most of the times their just examples for you to understand the material. Overall, she's a great professor! I recommend her :)
One of the best classes I have ever taken in my life, well worth it.
She was very kind to her students and would make sure that everything she was putting out was clear to the whole class. She doesn't count attendance against you and does go off course but the examples she puts out are related to the subject. You do have to write a few one page essays which is super easy to do. She is an easy grading teacher.
I really loved this professor. I dreaded taking politics but professor Henkle gave me a whole new outlook on the subject. She expects you to attend class and participate but she works with you and her class is a pleasant environment.
Great professor, really enjoys her subject. Not that much work except a huge research paper due at the end. Its a bit much since most are only taking it as general requirement. However is easily reached at her office hours and is there to help. Class definitely feels more like a 4 unit class
Great professor to take!! Took her for political science 100. She is very specific in her grading criteria and what she expects but assignments are easy. She is funny and caring. You can email her and she will reply and explain thing throughly. She makes you feel comfortable in the class and participation and lectures are fun!
shes cool however she talk so much and def get offs subject ALOT! We learned about her daughter's promiscuous friends, psycho boyfriends, her divorce. She posts the study guide a wk before the exam on bb & u have to learn 20 def & examples out of those 20 she chooses 10 . Then you have to memorize 5 essay questions which each answer is 2 pgs.! (
Dr. Henkle is a phenomenal professor! She makes you do work! You must attend class and take notes. She wants to make sure all her students are prepared to transfer to the university level. She gets off topic a bit but its to help students understand how policy affects your everyday life. I can say I learned in her class and it will stick!
I took her 9-week semester class and it was an easy A+. She encourages participation in lecture and she is very respectful to everyone's perspective. She will make sure you have all the information to get an A on the exams. With the short semester, if you are not good at managing your time you will be like the 32 of 40 that dropped from my class.
Don't take this professor! She gave way too much homework, 3 essays PER DAY, one is 2-3 pages, which was impossible. Her instructions were very unclear, the syllabus was not correct. Worst experience ever!
Professor Henkle is amazing! She respects everyones political views, and isn't one to judge. I recommend taking her, if you attend the class, take notes, and actually listen you'll pass the class with no problem. I took a summer class which was only five weeks, and she did give homework and a research paper, but the instructions were simple.
Professor Henkle is a great professor, however for her 5 week online course the amount of work due is understandable, but I felt her grading was too strict especially that many of us are not Political Science majors.
I have never been the type to delve into politics or political issues like I did during and after her class. She is amazing! She brings real life examples, including some of her own, to help the students really retain what needs to be learned. Her tests are a bit hard, all written. However, I got a perfect score on all 4 of her tests. So just study
She gives a lot of homework that doesn't seem very necessary and when i told the school about the amount of work she gives she gave me a zero o the midterm and started to randomly give me zeros on assignments without explanation. If you are okay with writing i would recommend this class but don't say anything bad about her class.
I loved her and her class
Class is heavily lecture based and she has clear grading criteria. She uses many real world examples during lectures and takes time to discuss current events. You have to write a research report but she gives you plenty of time to work on it. Professor Henkle wants everyone to pass and makes political science interesting.
There are about 4-5 assignments per week. They're mostly opinionated papes and not difficult. Class is not hard, just a lot of writing.
I'm actually still in her class. My biggest problem is that she acts like our lives revolve around her class, which is a 3 unit class. She hasn't taken into consideration that we're taking other classes and have jobs. She gives us these quizzes where we're supposed to study 2 chapters memorize 60 terms and answer 3 questions worth 20 pts total
I took her Online class and though it wasn't that hard having to do loads of homework was pretty annoying specially if you are not into politics. Professor Henkle was very nice at first but then she became a ridiculous tough grader and not very understanding towards her students. If you email her she can respond pretty rude.
American Politics , one of the most amazing classes, her educational technique keeps the interest in class, every concept counts, relates everything creating an amazing environment. Summer class are 2 1/2 hours every day never got bored. get ready to write papers, but she is very organized so explains everything with the syllabus the first day.
Dr. henkle is a very caring teacher she respects every individual even those who do not participate as much in her class. if you do your work and pay attention to what you are doing you will pass the class. she is understanding and she is very funny, you will laugh in her class
I took Dr. Henkle for Fall 2017 and I really enjoyed her class. Her lectures are clear, which makes it easy to take good notes. Multiple quizzes, but not difficult if you go to class and pay attention. She does have you do a 10 page research paper on sugar, which changed the way I saw sugar. Took this class with four other classes.
i like her, she's cool, just that she gets really distracted and gets into the conversation and takes up half class time. She takes up the whole class lecture because she forgets she's teaching important things we need to study for tests or final and i get really frustrated because she continues to talk and talk and talk
Henkle really knows her stuff that's for sure. The only reason I did poorly was not because of her, but because I procrastinate big time. She cares about her students and wants the best for them. She is a tough grader though but she lets you know how she wants the paper and will work with you. use APA on her papers lol.
Professor Henkle really wants her students to succeed. She won't pull punches on grading, but she will be there for you in any way you need to help improve your performance in class. She goes on some tangents about her life, but is enthusiastic about her subject and loves to get student input in discussions. Fun teacher, I recommend her.
I learned a lot from professor henkle I didnt expect to enjoy this class but she made it really fun and understandable with her examples and funny life stories :) I would take her again if I had to take another poli sciclass. She graded us on four major assignments/tests but they werent hard if you studied and stayed on top of due dates
She included lots of personal experience but tied them to lecture. You have to attend lecture to gain knowledge for test. Lots of fun
I did enjoy learning about politics until we hit midterms and realized how off topic we had been due to personal stories that go on for extended periods of time. Tough grader and only gives you a little time to study. Dont get comfortable and be prepared to cram and hope you answer the way she wants you to. Good luck if you take theirs class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Four, 500 word APA essays DAILY! Plus about 3 hours of reading every night. This is an online class and it takes me more than 6 hours a day to complete coursework (I hold a 4.0) and this class is killing me. The number of essays is completely unreasonable. It's like taking 3 English 102 classes. You will regret this class!
Taken over summer, lecture feels short, lots of stories + commentary. Notes are short and to the point. Tests are short answer + essay. Do all the EC. Homework takes 30 mins to an hour, easy stuff. Speak your mind, she's down for light debate. She answers questions clearly. The sugar paper is agony. Doesn't care about attendance after drop date.
Honestly, took this class after reading all the nice reviews about her. Unfortunately, I dropped the class because I would rather pay for a class I actually learn something in. She gets sidetracked all the time instead of learning about actual politics we would talk about her diet. The only good thing was she used open stax for the book.
Dr. Henkle is an amazing instructor! Not only is her background story inspiring, but she also brings excitement to a boring subject. I took her 6pm-8:50 class and most people are done for the day at that point but she made it fun. All you have to do is actually try and do your work. She doesnt just give out As, you have to earn it.
Oh where do I start, Professor Henkle is hilarious. Although she (and the whole class) would get off topic often, it was fun and entertaining I wish I had her longer. She describes everything in detail. Easy class and assignments altogether and textbook is online.
2-3 essays, discussion prompts, and quizzes. Subjective grader. Terrible email etiquette.
I am currently taking Dr. Henkle and I absolutely enjoy her class ! She is funny and makes the subject or topic related into an every day life we live. I recommend taking her, however you do have to STUDY for those exams!
Her grading is extremely hard when it comes to test and also lies about giving extra credit. My main problem with her is that she talks about her personal life including her daughters in which honestly I DON'T care about 70% of the class time but expects us to know everything on the test including topics she NEVER went over. So frustrating!
Worst professor ever, do not take her! She's very harsh on grading and gives ZERO feedback. She gives too much homework and it is too excessive. The book is free but it is a waste of time to read because it's definitions. She treats this class like it's English 101 by having us do three 500 word journals every week. Do NOT take her!
For an online course for a 100 class, the workload was pretty intense. However, I felt that the criteria was pretty clear. If youre not super comfortable with writing, I would recommend taking a professor who requires less. We wrote anywhere from 2-8 pages a week in journals. Shes definitely a passionate professor though, so Id take her again.
This class was one of the most difficult for me. the teacher gives a lot of homework, it is all based on many writings. you have to write 7 to 8 pages every week. the teacher does not offer tutoring help. She also gives you a rating of zero and does not give feedback to know what you did wrong or what you can improve.
Professor Henkle is amazing. Yes, her class can be hard at times, but she also is very understanding. Go to her office hours for help. Her lectures are funny, but she knows what she is talking about. She wants you to really learn about politics and what is going on in the world.
She is honestly one of the coolest professors I,ve ever had. She's made me laugh in her class constantly. She's really easy grading journals just a lot of work. On tests she is a really tough grader so if you suck at those do not get her. She gives you a great study guide but no feedback so it's hard to improve. She's an awesome person but tough pr
I'm 100% not recommend this professor. She won't give you a second chance to redo your assignment. She did not even let you fix your assignment if you do wrong. She won't let you know the assignment due date. You have to look at the syllabu by yourself. My whole class this semester got kick out because didn't watch video. Late works never exception
Do not take this professor. She won't give you any chance to make up assignments (not even one). If you do one thing wrong on an assignment, you will receive a zero.
This teacher was grate and did provide us with plenty of feedback of what we needed to study for on our exams. Also, she is very clear on the assignments, take notes, and she does offer extra credit. She really makes political science interesting and I would definately take this class again.
the class is really hard, a lot of homework, no clear assignments, book protect, no tutoring and not feedback, not extra credits and she doesn't round your grade. the lectures are good and easy, she is not hard grading assignments but gives a lot of homework. I will not recommend taking this class.
the class is really hard, a lot of homework, no clear assignments, book protect, no tutoring and not feedback, not extra credits and she doesn't round your grade. the lectures are good and easy, she is not hard grading assignments but gives a lot of homework. I will not recommend taking this class. the class is really hard.
This class took so much time out of my week. I wouldn't recommend if you are taking other classes. There are 2 texts, TONS of reading. She is a tough grader, if you mess up ONE thing she does not have a problem giving you a ZERO. Don't bother emailing her to explain why you were confused, she won't care! This was the only class I have ever dropped.
I took this class online and it is extremely heavy. Professor Henkle leaves a lot of homework, it looks like an English 102 class. Many writings every week and her exams are very complicated and with very little time. She is interested in you really learning but she does the class as if you were going to have a doctorate in politics.
This class is unfairly difficult for no real reason at all. We had to complete many papers per day. Assignments open at 12:00 AM and Close at 11:59 PM if you miss the assignment you cannot make it up. She recycles her Spring syllabus during Summer class forcing several assignments into a single day. She does no lectures. Mistakes in the syllabus.
TERRIBLE!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS LADY!!!!!! During covid as if its not hard enough having to do class online, she makes students life MISERABLE. 10 and 12 assignments due at the end of the week, and 3 of the assignments are two page essays. I love learning and working hard but come on! students have other classes to. Hardest grading teacher.
Professor Henkle is definitely is tough grading assignments, if you dont answer all the questions, shes more likely to give you a 0. There are a lot of assignments due weekly, no clear instructions on assignments, no lectures, and no participation. Youre basically on your own trying to figure out the assignments. I wouldnt recommend her!
She gives no extra credit at all , she heavy on the ought grading , she gets off topic easily and often , she doesn't let you resubmit assignment can't use no notes or textbook for exams
She gives no extra credit at all , she heavy on the ought grading , she gets off topic easily and often , she doesn't let you resubmit assignment can't use no notes or textbook for exams, quiz are not multiple choice you only have 30 min for quiz but your answers have to be a paragraph each
Dr. Henkle was a great professor! Lots of homework but you will definitely learn a lot in her class. I acquired a real interest in Politics thanks to this class and will be applying my new found interests and curiosity in the years to come. Be prepared for a steady but effective work load and try your best. She will respect your effort!
She's passive-aggressive. she doesn't include a lot in her syllabus. you will have to read and teach yourself the whole class, don't even bother to email her, it's not much help. and if ur an mchs student, you will not have the time to deal with her she dumps her issues on you. Big waste of time.
She was a horrible professor. She has more information in the syllabus about herself than any of the class work. NO grading scale in the syllabus. Takes DAYS to answer emails. She answers your emails after the assignment is due. Answers email in one sentence. Extremely passive aggressive. Not a very good professor.
By all means, to anyone reading this, DO NOT pay this professor to teach you. I have never stressed out so much about a class to the point of where I thought about dropping out of school. Essays upon essays every week. Like 8-10 assignments a week. Harsh grading on essays I tried my best on. Petty reasons for such grades. Often ignores students.
Do not take take this class if shes your professor. She talks about her past and says she has PTSD so it gives her an excuse to not meet with students or email them in a timely manner. She is the only one who can get away with a disorder. She piles loads of work each week and grading is inconsiderate. No multiple choice quizzes or exams. Own words
At the beginning of the semester, this teacher was explaining how her Rate my professor is low because the students dont want to work hard. This was the biggest lie ever. She gives at least 4 essays a week and she grades super tough. I used to go to a big college and not even there would I have this much work. Dont ever take this teacher!
I have 4 classes. The amount of work in her class is still 3 assignments more than my other three classes combined. She grades very harshly. The amount of work that is due in her classroom every week is unrealistic. Nearly 4 papers a week, several chapter readings, and tests WEEKLY. This isn't even an upper division class.
she rarely gives feedback. she doesn't follow her own syllabus. you have to expand so much in an assignment just to get a horrible grade because of a minor issue. she makes me not want to put in effort in writing cause I know she will grade it horribly.
The work load for her class is extremely unrealistic! Expect to read heavy chapters everyday, daily assignments that includes 500 words with doing two 200 word replies to other classmates with a bibliography due almost everyday at midnight the SAME day! Plus a quiz, plus you have to work on a 3-4 pg research paper which was due the following week.
The class was challenging, but she did disclose that since it was a five-week course, she would be squishing 16(?) weeks worth of material into five weeks. She did require 500 words every day and 250 words for replies, which was hard to meet and honestly tiring.
Do not take her if you have other obligations aside from school. If your main focus is school, be prepared to work HARD for a passing grade. Some highlights: -Lengthy Discussion/Responses due weekly -1 Journal/paper due weekly -1 quiz, essay questions only due weekly -No lectures, ppt's, notes (Book only) -1 15 p. Essay due at the end of the course
As some background info I am a polisci major and I just want to say this professor made me absolutely hate my major. She messes up grades and does NOT follow syllabus and does NOT give feedback in order to receive a better grade on future assignments. Extremely passive aggressive and rude when it comes to asking for support. DO NOT TAKE HER.
This class requires heavy work load. Be prepared for 500 word discussions and 2 replies of 250 words each. Every week. You are given two research papers to do but no resources are given for it. You have to figure it out on your own. It was an ok class.
Ridiculous amount of work. If you have a life don't take this class.
Dr Henkle was overall a nice person but the workload she gives is exhausting. She also still assigns a book report after the final so if you wanted time to destress and focus on other classes you will now have to focus even more attention on a four-page book report that should have been assigned earlier in my opinion.
She seems kinda nice, but when it comes to class, she is pretty cold and a bit vague. EXTREMELY unrealistic work load with HEAPS of reading, homework, disscussion boards, and quizzes. Every question in any of these assignments and tests will have to be answered in 500 words or more. EVERYTHING. Its exhausting and still gets graded harshly.
Henkle is sweet outside of teaching. 500-word book discussions and 250-word replies are a lot to do when she is absent from class that day. Also, when it came to the final exam we all thought that we could relax. Then comes the final book discussion. She grades harshly as well with no comments on what to improve. I don't suggest, stay a fly crip.
She was tough, lots of work. Be prepared for tough grading and lots of assignments. I wouldn't take her again. "It's my way or the highway" with her.
She is not specific about how long she wants your answers to be for written tests. Instead of giving me feedback on what I did wrong she failed me with a zero. I got really stressed out. I gave up after the third time she failed me with a straight zero and no feedback. I have never been more embarrassed of myself for getting an F.
I was nervous to take the course & she reassured the class the first day she was going to get us through the course and not to drop the class. Didn't give me feedback on assignments including the one's lower than a B. She talked way too much about her home life and not enough about the course. Talked way too much about home life and not the course.
I had Dr. Henkle for Native American History 107 for Summer 2023. At first, doing the discussions were easy, until she failed me for one because she said I used a certain website for my discussion, and I had no clue what she was talking about. Her assignments overall were just too much. Plus, she had us read a book that I had no time for.
Honestly, I wouldn't take her class again. I turned in a paper and she claim that there was outside resources. Like the paper was based on my own opinion. She tests heavy and they are all essay questions with no open notes. lectures made 0 sense, she talked about her home life than the stuff we were supposed to be learning. TAKE A DIFFERENT CLASS
She is amazing, I am surprise she has a low score here on this website. I had her for an in-person class and she was absolutely fantastic, helpful to all, great at explaining our assignments , and she has a great sense of humor that class is never boring. I would recommend having her for both in-person and online classes.
Professor Henkle is amazing, has a great personality, and is understanding. She had everything for the semester laid out on Canvas, the few assignments given were well explained, and we had ample time to complete them. The overall atmosphere of the class was warm and inviting, with everyone participating at one point or another. TAKE THIS CLASS!!
I enjoyed this class and was actually able to retain the information I learned. She is very straight up and gets to the point, which I like. She was very personable, and I enjoyed hearing her stories which never overshadowed the lectures. Not a tough grader when it comes to grammar/spelling in our papers. Gives helpful feedback too!
Took for HIST-107. You will be exhausted. Two assignments/wk, 500 word discussion post and 1000 word mini-essay. Midterm and final are 4 essays that you will be expected to write within 2 hr. Long book report due at the end of the course. If you are wanting to take her for the ethnic studies requirement, don't.
Profesor makes class fun and easy
The most hard class ,she never gives you the opportunity to present special circumstances and she will let you know "good try , try in the future"
Ms. Henkle does not give you feedback for ANYTHING. Says she will work with you to do good in class but her emails/announcements are rude and not cooperative. If your life is perfect and you don't need an instructor's empathy: TAKE HER!, but if you want someone who cares for you and actually helps you in class: do NOT take her, take anyone else.
The previous comments paint, Doctor Henkle in a negative light. Doctor Henkle, heavily implied that if you ever need help in any sort of way for writing, to reach out to her during her office hours and seek out aid. Dr Henkle, has been a great professor and has helped me so much with my writing and given me an interest in politics.
Easy and few assignments.
Juggling my personal life plus school, it was a little bit too much for me to balance. Do attend her zoom meetings. Ask A LOT of questions. You will read a lot, have 250 word responses to topics, 500-1000 word essays but I promise, you will learn a few things if not more about Politics, even if you're not a big fan. Dr. Henkle is AMAZING.
She's amazing and hilarious!!! I'm honestly not a morning person or into politics but she makes me look forward to her lectures and makes them interesting. She only assigns 1 assignment per week and it's a chapter summary always due Sundays. No quizzes, only a midterm and a final.
The works easy, the instructor is difficult. Lisa Henkle's course is the only course I was failed in for the Fall semester. I submitted on time, and extra, work consistently, fought for understandings, clarifications, and grading protocols, and was always detered and deferred. Lisa uses profanity and racist remarks constantly, and referes to notes.
The course content seemed bipolar. I hope the course content could get better, soon. Merry Christmas.
