This teacher is totally worthless, she shows up late everyday and once she gets there all she does is take care of her personal phone calls. Never explains anything. We only took out our cameras one time. This teacher is horrible did not teach any of the fundamentals of basic photography. I wish I could get my money back and take another teacher.

She was always late. There were four classes that she didn't even show up at all. When she was there she just promoted her own work and the work of her friends/colleagues or she would randomly find sites on the internet that she thought were important. Though she knew what she was talking about [no one else did], I would never recommend her class.

She doesn't fully explain assignments and expects you to know what she's talking about, then when she is reviewing your work she says, "This isn't what I wanted.. I said do it this way." And then gives you a horrible grade. She doesn't actually teach at all. If you don't want to waste an entire semester, don't take her class.

worst most teacher at avc. she will never be there and just talk about other people and has some student do her work. you know she is the only one rating herself in here

i hate her class it was the worst class ever she makes me hate photography she is always late and never cares for you. she will wait till the end to baash you and then steals all the photography supply and makes some guy in class do a blurb book tht is never sold after 3 years of saying she has them. god i hate her so much

lisa is the worst teacher known to avc. she will make you want to never do photography ever. she is always late and if she doesnt like your work she makes you redo all she can say is like "it is coming out of their head" she doesnt even know about ilm but pretends she does. she need to quit now because she ruins avc photography

By far the worst teacher ever! All you have to do is go to class the first day and the last and that's it she then claims at the end to have helped you and doesn't she just talks about her dog and life and is rude and just is on the computer just cuz she graduated from Brooks she thinks she is the best but isn't at all. I wish they would fire here!

She is always late. Only talks about friends/colleagues. The class is the last thing on her mind. She's the most selfcentered person I have met. She is not clear, so to get a good grade you should be a mind reader. This teacher could ruin your grades easy and not care. I am glad I didn't hang around. She is the worst teacher I have ever met.

this was by far the worse online experience I think I have, She doesn't respond to emails, she's very unorganized. The syllabus is useless, she posted things late. Horrible, but it wasn't a hard class at all just very confusing with due dates

confusing teacher, not at all helpful but all in all she has a passion for photography. don't not need to buy the book save money go to the school library or borrow from someone.

self centered, rambles on & on about everything BUT photography...used her platform to endorse her choice of the presidential election. She was always late (not nice in 105 degree temp) spent lots of time on her I phone. She did not catch my interest, I just wanted it done with !! don't take her if you want to feel good about photography.

Organization was nonexistent, due dates switched with no explanation, e-mails went unanswered as did our questions. Overall a bad experience, although easy, the stress is not worth it. Please consider another instructor if you wish to take Photography.

I took this class with her online thinking it was going to be a normal online class last semester. I was so wrong. Very inconsistent assignments, almost never replied to my emails, wasn't very helpful, didn't know how to use blackboard properly, overall just way too stressful. If you don't have to take this class with this instructor, don't.

She does not give much effort to actually teaching, most of her time is spent on her phone and talking about the other things she is doing. i felt this class was a burden to her, she actually said she stopped teaching the class and for some reason had to teach it again. however, she did give a lot of second chances

She frequently showed up a half hour late or simply cancelled class last minute. When she was present, she would show movies on contemporary photographers. I did not learn anything about the history of photography from this class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS/PROFESSOR

Terrible time management, consistently starts class 12-15 minutes late and then tries to rush through the end of the lecture; often runs several minutes over the class's scheduled ending time. In regards to the lecture, she barely conveys any information, loses track of her thoughts, yet grades harshly. Don't take this class for any reason!

The problem with Professor Karlstein is this: she is flighty, completely mercurial, and has no sense for organization, concision, nor purpose. The class ranges from what she wants to talk about. You could learn more about the History of Photography in one short lecture from Intro to Film than in the whole of her class. Do not take this class.

Prof K, is unorganized, horrible, never responded to emails, always late, scattered brain. Never gave clear instructions or feedback. Never follow through with what she said she ws going to do. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! You will be disappointed. Too much reading, unclear assignments/instructions. Unpleasant experience!!

The book is not required. She is all over the place make sure you turn in your weekly reaction papers and write about a photographer she talks about in class or a picture. Does not know how to work canvas at all and never responds to emails. If you want to take class to help you with writing this will be the class. But, she truly loves photography

she is the worst teacher ever!! if you are thinking of taking her dont she never responds to emails ever, its like she doesnt know how to run more than one class let alone an online class! seriously horrible then gets mad when we dont understand her instructions yet doesnt give thorough instructions on anything

The worse experience I've had at AVC. Practically ZERO communication from her. Excuse after excuse for being non-existent to this online class. Does not know how to use CANVAS and organize assignments, I can live with that and search for stuff but when emails are not answered that's a big no no. DO not take her for Photo 107 online.

I recommend not to take her online class. She seems nice but obviously doesn't know how to control an online class at all. Makes it unfair on the students who are in the class. Her modules don't show up, hard to find what you need, and she uses the same outline every class and doesn't update syllabus or information on the modules.

The class started late due to her not posting anything until the third day, multiple problems with images and repeated questions on the midterm, few grades assignments, ended class with a definitive A however received a C from her. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVER! D O N O T T A K E H E R!

I would not recommend taking this professor. I took her PHOT 107 Online class and it was so disorganized as well as many mistakes with the tests/quizzes. She doesn't respond to her emails, so good luck contacting her.

Least professional professor at AVC. NEVER replied to over half of my emails when I needed help or asked for clarification. Horribly disorganized. I hear from friends that she is late to her own classes in person, over the summer she went on vacation and ignored us for over 2 weeks during the term. Do not take this class, period.

She doesnt respond to emails! I needed help and clarification and I didnt get it! Take someone else

Gave a 4 for difficulty & only a 5 unit class should be this hard. What's horrible is that 1 assignment is worth 10 points but the final project is worth a total of 200. I spent probably 8 hours on my paper/project & she gave me exactly a 0 for no reason. I confronted her and ended up getting a B and if I didn't make an issue I would have failed.

This teacher is horrible. She doesn't take her class seriously and therefore how can her students. She never has the weeks assignments up at the start of the week and still keeps the due date to that Friday. She keeps previous "what to expect for the week" up that are out of date therefore contradicting to what the weeks actual assignments are.

Probably the worst professor Ive ever had. Inaccessible outside of class, confusing instructions, online class was disorganized, posts assignments late, double assignments, grades wrong the list goes on and on.

Everything in these reviews are spot on. She is disorganized, doesn't explain some assignments clearly or changes an assignment mid-way and she's nearly impossible to reach by email. She is very passionate and knowledgeable about what she teaches, but it seems that she has set up this class to 'Auto Drive', if you will, and checks in at random.

DO NOT TAKE! She should not be allowed to teach. Doesn't answer emails and doesn't know how to write. She messed up posting our assignments so it turned into WEEKS of work due days before each other like an 8 week course. Awful.
