awful. shes hard and the most annoying teacher i have ever had
She gives a ton of homework. She has way too many assingments. She talks alot. Her expectations are too high. This class was only a pre req not a lifetime job. She is nice but the class is way to much for the reason I took it . If you really like political science and already know alot then take her class.

Great, down to earth professor!!
She is very excited about the subjuct and she really gets into it, which helps the class get interested. Very flexible with participation points by letting us get them by responding on educator! This is very helpful for those a little shy! GREAT!
She does require you to do quite a bit of work but all the things you complete prepare you for the exams. We only had her half a semester because our other professor just stopped teaching the class. Do her review sheets, they aren't required but prove very helpful on the test. She is a great teacher and enjoys what she does!
Definitely take her. She is a fantastic teacher, the best I've had in a long while. Lectures are interesting, work is reasonable, and she gives you everything you need to pass. Class discussions on "hot" issues are also interesting. Biggest advice I have: answer the study guides as if you have to turn them in. It really helps for the tests.
She was a pretty good teacher. Her in class work was kinda boring tho with the work being almost being just her talking. But hey least shes good to look at right?
She is a very good teacher.. and nice:)
She knows a lot about hwat she is teaching. Only take her if you are very knowledgable about government. She is a little frightening with her excitement of the subject she teaches. She cares more about showing off what she knows than actually teaching it. A lot of homework assignments that have nothing to do with what chapters you may be on.
Very nice but she is too extreme with her teaching. She doesn't explain things so that everyone can understand them. Grades very hard on class participation. I paid attention in class took tests and did extremely well on all homework. I ended up failing the class because she gave me a 55% on class participation. Don't take her class!
Terrible.
She is a great teacher and is excited about what she teaches. There is quite a bit of work, but it is desighned to help you on the tests. The class is easy if you study.
Lisa is a very nice person and excited about her class however,if she don't like you hang on to your hat.No make up exams period.Unless she likes you then the class rules go out the window.I am sorry I took this class with her.Understand that I have nothing against Lisa, but she often is unfair to certain students, but hey,Thats how Politics work..
Lisa is a very nice person. She knows her subject inside and out. She trys to make class as fun as possible. However, she is very strict on tests and does tend to favor students.
She gives you study guides for every chapter covered. Fill these out like it's your job because those questions are (word-for-word) what her short answer tests consist of. Only three tests all semester and six 2-page response papers to readings you'll do. Super easy if you just go to class and follow her lecture. And she's extremely helpful too.
You have to be an idiot not to do well in this class. She explains things so even the most ignorant student can understand. Her lectures are interesting and she involves the class which makes it fun. Very fair and always willing to meet students after class for extra help.
Lisa is a difficult teacher to rate, she is very excited about the class and is more than willing to help, but you need to be willing to work very hard. This is not a blow off class, if you want to do well you need to communicate a lot with her and get on her good side. She really wants you to thouroughly understand the material.
Great teacher, sweet personality. Government was really not my thing before this class. Now i can actually understand whats going on in the news and i dont change the channel.
Her enthusiasm really got me into it. I was always confused by government, now i actually get it. She makes you see why its relevant and important.
This lady is insane. I'm pre-law, and am 3/4 finished with my Associates, and I promise you-- I've never taken a class that required more work. Tests, weekly essays, quizzes on every chapter, no notes allowed. Nothing like what you would encounter in real life. The instructor is (oddly) excited about what she teaches. It's somewhat scary at times.
DO NOT take online during the Spring semester (7 wk), unless you intend spending the entire week working on it. Way too much work, by far the hardest class I've ever had.
This class will make you love government. It is a time consuming class. But it's not that bad. Doing the study guides is the key to passing this class. She stresses to read the book. But, just use the book to complete the study guides and then just study your notes and the guides. Go to class and give some input during discussion & you'll pass.
Lisa is an awesome teacher! Had no interest in politics before taking this class and now I can't shut up about them! She is very passionate about the material and wants everyone to enjoy being in class. Show up, listen, browse the reading guides and you'll pass with flying colors!
She is fun! I really liked her. She won't take any crap and sometimes I felt like i was in High school, however she made me love elections, campaigning, and made me realize how fun this stuff is!
Super, awesome, mega, good. Actually TEACHES. You don't just memorize a bunch of dates and b.s. terms, you LEARN! I am definitely smarter for having had this professor. If you are a immature, disrespectful brat you probably won't want to take her class but if you really want to learn something, sign up with Lisa.
Shes great! Her excitement about politics rubs off on you. Would recommend her to anyone!
Maybe the two previous writers didn't do well because thet thought she was teaching history. She has high expectations, but you will learn about political science issues.
Lisa is a good teacher. But should probably think about teaching honors classes only. She has very high expectations and for someone who isn't very good in goverment in the first place, it wasn't fun. She talks alot about current events and past events. You have to read in between the lines of very intellectual and hard to read material.
Loved this teacher. Really helped with things whenever you needed. Makes things clear and she was full of energy.
Lisa is an excellent teacher. You will actually learn the material in her class. I hated government before I took her class, but she made it SO interesting that I looked forward to every class. She gives a lot of ways to earn points in her class so it's hard to bomb it if you actually try to do the work. Also, the big paper was due in the middle of
Lisa is an excellent teacher. You will actually learn the material in her class. I hated government before I took her class, but she made it SO interesting that I looked forward to every class. She gives a lot of ways to earn points so it's hard not to do well. I would take her class again in a heartbeat!!
This is a really hard class, but you will learn so much, and Lisa made it very enjoyable. She knows so much and really respects everyones opinion. There are lots of hw, but its always to help you learn better about the material. Lisa is great! Such a nice person
First of all, if you care about your GPA don't sign up for her class! She is highly engaged and you really get to know politics in her class. The downside is, the workload is insane and instead of earning credit her whole grading system is based on loosing points.
Trust me, find another teacher.Lisa is totally overboard on homework and her outside of class projects. This was by far way too much work for a 3 credit class. Spare yourself lots of frustration and time. She favors certain students, and your required to be there every class. She's not a happy camper if your late!
Seriously, find a different teacher. She is all nice in the beginning but definitely favors certain individuals. Lawrason calls people out in class whenever she wants and seems to like to embarrass people. She is unfair when grading presentations. I did all the group work for my group and I still got marked down. I dreaded going to this class.
She was a great online teacher, and the way she organized her classwork made it a fairly easy class to take online. She does tend to 'pick' at certain people, however looking past that she was a great online teacher.
She knows her stuff and is excited about teaching it. Very big on class participation. Hard grader and frowns on tardiness or absences. Tons of homework, front loader class. If you keep up on everything and ask for her help the class is completely passable. Be prepared to spend a lot of time working on her homework.
I have no idea what the person before me is talking about. There is no mandatory homework needed for this class. AND if you do the homework you can use it on the test, which makes the test rather easy. You have one long paper and two short ones. Three tests and a group presentation. That is all study and you're garunteed an A it's that easy.
AMAZING! she makes politics easy. and if you do the reading guides you can use them on the exams which are easy if you pay attention. lisa's attitude made the class exciting, you definitely wont fall asleep.
I took this course online and it's the best online class I've ever had. Lisa's enthusiasm about politics really comes out and made me more interested in politics. I learned so much. I highly recommend her for an online class!
The class is easy to pass if you go everyday and do all of the reading guides and reading assignments. You are in class learning from the minute it starts till the second it ends which is okay but very boring. I didnt like her at all but i passed with an A.
Do not take this professor if you think government is a blow-off class. You will definitely be getting your money's worth, but pay attention, do the reading guides, do the discussion forum posts early, and GO TO CLASS every single time. Lecture can be boring but it's only for 15 weeks.
Lisa is extremely passionate about this subject! I took the honors version with a project and if you have the time in your schedule I highly recommend this course. The service learning project is extremely rewarding. There is quite a bit of out of class work though. Lisa is a great communicator and will help you with anything you need!
Mixed on this prof. She's excited to involve her students: very subjective in her grading of others. I'm getting an A 'cause I learned to partake in discussion like a liberal. Clearly biased in her instruction, but will deny it to her dying breath. I won't take any of her other classes, but she does actually TEACH, which is rare for this college.
When I entered the classroom In my mind I was like "Oh man, I'm going to hate this class" I've never been a fan of government. But Lisa, is very into her politics, she's extremely helpful, she knows how to make class worth it. If you have to take this class I'd recommend her! She's there for your success!
If you are not a good student don't take this class. She assigns homework and expects you to participate. These concepts are alien to a lot of students.
Lisa is super excited about politics. Very knowledgeable and tries sinking info into your head. Exams are tough, as are the essays, but passable if you study the powerpoints and Chapter quizes. She's a great instructor and willing to help any student. This class is NOT a breeze, as she admits to not making it easy. Show up everyday & be on time!
She is super excited about politics. Homework every class time. Not a easy class, does some group work. She is willing to help you understand anything answers many questions. Lots of notes and must do the work. BE ON TIME! She is a talker.
She is very rude and cuts people off from talking. Home for every class which isn't bad but most of the time you'll only go through half of the chapter and then move on. Her grading isn't the easiest. Her voice and the way she would say "government" will get to you after the first week. Overall, didn't like her.
BEST TEACHER I'VE HAD@DELTA! She was so knowledgable&helpful! Her tests were challenging but not impossible&she would tell us exactly what to expect on tests&even did essays together in class for test points.she's very helpful. Before the class i did not care about politics but she made it fun and exciting. I learned so much from her.Def take her!
Worst class I've ever had.
She is slightly annoying most of the time, but overall her class is pretty easy as long as you do the homework and turn it in on time she will let you use stamped homework on the exams. Her group assignment was a joke and I basically did the entire things myself. Class is basically mandatory and you must participate.Goodluck!
Her class was very insperational. You might not like politics one bit going into the class but coming out of it you will love it. She is very friendly and listens to all students. Great feedback. Not s tough grader at all and most assignments are in class and the tests are online. Great class.
Lisa is the best professor at Delta, I wasn't interested in politics until her class. I would take another one of her classes again in a heartbeat. However, you have to be in class and you have to do the work or you wont get a good grade. She does give homework every night but its mostly reading and printing off powerpoints from elearning.
With a 4.0 GPA and experience taking good and bad professors I would have to say this is by far the worst teacher I've ever taken in High school, college, anywhere. It's not that the material was hard or that the work was outrageous I just don't have any respect for a teacher who talks down to her students and belittles them.
Did all my homework, took notes and made sure to pay attention in class yet this lady still found ways to mark me down points and ruin my experience regarding politics. Last week we were reviewing for a test and my jeopardy team was winning and she got mad at us because we had already studied the jeopardy questions. lol really?
She grades super tough and tests are ridiculously long. One was over 9 chapters at once! The group project sucks especially if your group doesn't put in effort, yet you get penalized for it. You can think you did great on something and worked your butt off and still walk out of there with a C on it.
One of my fav professors at Delta! I hated politics before this class, but this prof's passion made it interesting and now I actually enjoy following the news. Grading is tough but fair, and what she wants on assignments is clear. Getting involved in class and participating in discussions will make it fun!
Great political science professor spent lots of time discussing topics in class. Encouraged class to think objectively about topics. Learned more in this class than I have in any other.
She is the nicest professor and makes an effort to get to know you. You can go to her with anything. Three exams, none are cumulative. She wants you to pass so she gives you the short-answer exam questions and will let you know how to improve your answers before the exam. I would definitely take her again for any class.
Does not work with students when family issues come up and isn't understanding at all. Pretty much says tough luck in any given situation. Doesn't do much to help you out.
Worst class I've ever taken at Delta.
Lots of busy work, there's always 2-3 assignments to be worked on at a time. Doesnt lecture on chapter until after you're quizzed on it.
Lisa is the most caring and passionate professor I've had at Delta. She really wants her students to do well and goes out of her way to help. She is VERY passionate about politics and makes class fun. I was dreading having to take this class but it turned out to be a great experience.
I love her! She is so caring, and is always willing to help her students. Although the civic engagement project was a lot of work, i don't think I've ever learned this much in a class. You are also expected to take a quiz every Sunday, except the Sunday before tests.
Professor Lawrason is very passionate about Politics and our Democracy! I went into this class worried about what the work may be. The class turned out to be great! There are a lot of Essays, Class participation, Groups, Notes, tests, and 15 Hour Civic Engagement. I am way more interested in politics now though! Great class for future Politicians!
I went into this class hating politics but I learned way more than I thought I would. Her expectations are clear, so if you follow insturctions and meet due dates, you will be fine. Lectures are really interesting, and there's tons of interaction during class. I have never had a professor this passionate about a topic!
Lisa really shows students how politics work and gives well thought out lectures planned out as the given calendar. She is one of the best professors I have had at Delta and she helped me get involved in many things around the campus.
This class wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The project was actually fun and a cool way to learn in a hands on way. Class was very relevant to real life. I would definitely recommend this prof!
Be prepared to be organized and prioritize. Her project is "busy" you will earn your grade in this class. Although tough she wants to see you pass and will work with students. Gives extra credit, with and without papers. Lectures are good and always generates good discussion. Your class mates matter for this class, having a opinion and interacting.
Grades too harshly
This class is only hard if you don't do the work ! Saw reviews saying she was a tough grader but she isn't if you complete the assignment . Awesome teacher and awesome energy !!!! Deff one of my fav teachers
Awful. She Would take up all of our time, and we would barely get to finish our work. Therefore, we would get bad grades because she took up all of our time. The time she was taking up she was making us feel like we were stupid. Deserves to be fired
A great and inspiring teacher. She always knew where we left of in class and Gave good lectures . She makes you put in effort but as long as you work hard you will get a good grade and learn a lot . Deserves a raise
She is very passionate about politics. As long as you participate and listen to her you will be fine.
Absolute worse professor I've ever had. Tried to push her personal political views on her students. She did not do an effective job of teaching the material and tests were very hard. Don't take her unless you have to.
Came back to school after being out for 22 years and this was my first class. Even though there is quite a bit of work if you stay on top of things and participate in class you will do just fine. She is very enthusiast and loves what she teaches. Everyone should be so lucky to have a professor who is that passionate about their subject.
She treated us like children. I came here to learn and instead I was belittled for my political beliefs and being a millennial.
Lisa is very happy about what she does & makes class fly by. She gives out quite a bit of homework, but it can easily be found in the book or the lectures given. There are a few papers, but the criteria is easily understandable, so it is easy to receive a good grade on them.
Worst teacher Ive ever had. Doesnt care about her students. Dont take her if you want to continue to love yourself.
I took her during spring semester and there was a lot of material to cover. You definitely have to read the book or you won't pass. If you want an A in her class, you have to go well above her listed instructions. She is a tough grader, but you will learn a lot because she is very passionate about what she is teaching.
This class is a lot of work, but Lisa is such an amazing professor who is willing to work with you. I would recommend her to everyone!
Absolutely loved her as a teacher. Very caring and accessible when needed. No tests throughout the course, except a take home final. Daily participation and groupwork. Weekly assignments to help you get to know material. I would recommend her to anyone!
Best Prof. I've ever had!! Love the flipped classroom learning. Save money, textbook & lecture available on eLearning. A little bit of a tough grader, but she gives amazing feedback & you learn a lot! Homework & quite a few papers/writing assignments, but it is all laid out & step by step easy if you put the work in. Exams are based off homework.
She was a nice teacher but I wouldnt take her again, her class is very stressful and makes it required to make time to meet lawmakers outside of class on ur own time. Id only take her if i wasnt working and only 2/3 classes. Quizzes are non stop, never catch a break, & too confusing. Shes expects u to be a politician and know everything
Lisa is a great teacher but a tough grader and I think she knows this. This is why there is lots of extra credit. The lectures are very interesting but the amount of homework is ridiculous. If you don't mind getting a B in the class for good effort, this is a fine class. However, if you want to truly excel, look elsewhere.
Had to do fifteen hours of civic engagement outside of class, but made it so easy and clear. You can tell she's very passionate about what she teaches. Gives great feedback and as long as you do your work and show up to class you're guaranteed an A because she's a fairly easy grader.
Lisa is so nice and incredibly helpful. Her lecture materials are sometimes lengthy but really help to better understand the material. Exams were taken through eLearning using a lockdown browser and webcam but you can use your notes for all tests. The project element is fun, she offers multiple ways to complete it and extra credit opprotunuties.
Lisa is nice and wants you to succeed, but she will make you work for it. Be prepared to watch lectures for HOURS and absolutely dread your life. You also will have weekly discussion posts that have to be very long and specific. She is very fast at responding to emails and grading work. Overall I'd give her 2.7/5 stars.
Lisa was amazing. I learned so much and she was always there to help me with with anything I needed.
I really love her she fast as responding to emails and makes sure that you understand her. some things you may not. Warning there is a lot of work, class work and outside work, can be stressful at times, you also have a big project with lawmakers close to the end, but if you keep yourself on track with assignments you will be just fine.
You will spend 6-8 hours a week doing assignments plus you have to do a project consisting of 15 hours outside of class going to meet lawmakers, or city council meetings, etc. and then write papers on it.
Students are never given the most basic tools to participate in American democracy. Instructor is only interested in ensuring that students have the "correct opinion" regarding American political history. Homework & tests are not difficult, but very time consuming. You will not receive graded homework back before your exams.
anyone that doesnt like her only says so bc they didnt do their hw. lots of hw but just do it and its fine. girlboss
This class is a flipped class system where you do all the notes and lectures outside of class and questions in class. I didn't like this type of class and as for the professor, she is very insensitive about things sometimes. I do not recommend her at all and would not take her again.
Professor Lawrason was amazing! She inspired me deeply, and I will never forget her. The class was in depth, but she stops to make sure you fully understand all the material. A healthy mix of out-of-class and in-class assignments, all of which help you comprehend the material. Exams are difficult, but not if you study. She wants to see you succeed!
Very dedicated and passionate professor who cares about her students' success. She was my only online professor who actually cared to upload lectures. Be prepared to dedicate hours to her assignments, though. Her American Politics class was exactly what I expected as someone new to attending college.
Lisa is a good professor. Easy exams but sometimes the homework takes awhile. make sure you print off your ISA to use it on the exam. She does give off her political view which is kind of annoying. Cares alot about students. Overall, shes great and would recomend.
I liked her but it was a bit scary how passionate she was about politics. I feel like she expected a lot from us even though most of us are only taking the class because it was required. I did learn a lot though. Do you ISAs and you'll do fine on the tests and quizzes. The homework did take me a while and I totally didn't cry over it a few times...
Lisa Lawrason is a passionate, inspirational instructor. You will get a lot out of this class if you participate and do your homework. If you are struggling, she will help you outside of class. She is easily accessible via email. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Highly recommend. I would take this class over a million times.
