Lisa is a GREAT teacher! She makes class fun and interesting. I would recommend her to anyone!
she was one of the worst teachers i've ever had. the class wasn't extremely boring but the test were outrageous. You would have thought we were medical students. She expects way too much for a 101 class. the whole class complained about being overwhelmed. DONT TAKE HER IF YOU ARE TAKING ANY OTHER CLASSES!!!!!
terrible. enough said!
her inexperience really showed. she has potential but for now i would advise anyone to find another teacher.
I just started the class and I can see how her approch to teaching is going to discourge alot of students. Teachers are supposed to be educators not dictators.
Hard class but this should be expected. A lot of work and memorization but it's by no means unmanageable. A lot of studying is required but she is very helpful in giving notes. Overall a good teacher...very nice with a good sense of humor.
One of the worst new teachers at RVC.
i took her last semester and she was by far one of the worst teachers i have ever had. the class wasnt boring but the tests and case studies that she gave us should have been given to first or second year med students. if you want to pass this class i would recommend finding a different teacher.
Tough class but in following classes you will be way ahead. damm hot to
Very perky, you won't fall asleep
What is she thinking? This teacher wasted her time taking up teaching.... I have always known teachers that are willing to help you suceed. This lady want's to make sure you give up your dreams. Want to pass BIO100 DON'T take her class.
I did not pass this class because this teacher made everything so difficult. I did not like her style of teaching. She gives you six chapters to read and then she gives you a quiz over everything. Who can remember every little detail six chapters after. I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through what I did. I would not recommend her.
She expects the students to answer questions before she has even taught the class the info and complains when noone participates. Quizzes every class and her tests were extremely hard. Lab exams and lecture exams given the same day, one after the other. She even gave us our last exam the class before our final exam, not much time to study!
very good class. Interesting. Had study guides made for us. Able to use our own personal notes for the quizzes. I would definitely take her class again.
she never helps you and is never in her office!! DO NOT TAKE HER!!
Lisa Leden is a great teacher. Her daily quizzes keep you on track and her exams cover what are in the notes. If you study and keep on track with her lab schedule you will learn and excel. There are many different teachers at RVC. If you need basic science credits, take an easy teacher and leave this one to the serious students.
Lisa is a great teacher. She definately knows her A&P! Her daily quizzes are easy points. Her lecture exams cover 3-4 chapters but are strictly from notes. You're able to print out the outline for lecture ahead of time to look at during the lecture! Helped me follow her better. Lab tests are hard! Lots of points in the class to earn which helps!!
all of you that say she is a bad teacher don’t know what your talking about i feel she is the best Science teach I have had since middle school!! She brakes thing downs so you get the basics you need in other classes! The daily quizzes help you gain points other then just having test scores
Lisa is young. & at times VERY sarcastic, but she definitely knows her stuff! There are daily quizzes (10 pts each, with extra credit) Homework for each chapter (10 pts each) & 4-5 100pt tests. She uses power point, and I found that you HAD to read the book to be sucessful. At first I hated the quizzes, but found them to be quite helpful!
Love, love, love her! Hard class but I learned alot that helped in succeeding classes. I found her to be very helpful (when asked) and made class interesting. Plenty of opportunity to earn points in class. Alot of material to cover and tests were not easy, but she was an excellent educator. She definitely knows her subject!
Leden Is a great teacher! I love the way she teaches the class..the powerpoints make everything so much easier to understand...and she doesnt act like she is a recorded she actually makes lectures interesting! Great Bio teacher..Good Teacher =]
Easy to understand, uses power points all the time. Lab time is always independent which can make it difficult. She give a quiz every single class!
OK, I've only had two teachers at RVC, but I LOVED her. She's funny and makes class interesting, but it is pretty demanding...easy work, but quizzes everyday, homework once a chapter, and tests over each three... final wasn't cumulative, though, which was fantastic. Mrs. Leden was awesome.
Super nice... and funny. she relates everything in a manner that you can understand it. she lectures with powerpoint and doesn't talk too fast
good teaching skills, pretty good lecture notes provided.
Awesome teacher. I have learned so much and plan on taking her for every science course I need. There are quizzes every day, homework over each chapter and the exams include three chapters, but the final is cumulative and you can drop a test. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn biology.
Even though I got an A in her class I had to study extremely hard. She was horrible it's my hard work that paid off. I wouldn't recommend any student taking her.........
TOP NOTCH!!! She cares more than others think is wise. I would recommend her for any class at RVC. She is not easy, and you will have to earn your grade but she will help you every step of the way. Every school beyond RVC will EXPECT that you know what she is teaching so take advantage of someone that will help you get it!
WOW! she was awesome. I took the class online and finished with an easy A. Do the discussions & reflections. They may seem stupid but are easy and add up. The homework was right out of the book & there were no tests except the final. She has podcasts for her online students which are really helpful. She's a great great teacher & its an easy class =)
Understand before you take this class that by the level of the class and nature of the material, THERE IS NO EASY "A"!!! Once that's said, she gives you everything you need; info, help, structure. You provide the discipline, and you'll be well prepared for dental hygiene or nursing school.
Although I got a C in her class, it wasn't because of her. If I would have paid more attention and spent more time studying, I would have gotten a better grade. She is a great professor and I would recommend her. ANd she's pretty and hilarious.
I DIDNT LIKE HER TEACHING STYLE. SHE DEPENDED TOO MUCH ON THE POWERPOINT.
Lisa is an extremely helpful prof. I got a B in both 281 and 282. If i studied to more often they defintely would have been A's. Your grade requires work in the class but she gives you everything u need to make your grade whatever you want it to be!!! LOVE HER!
She is an amazing professor! She will help you if you just ask. She explains everything so that it is simple and she makes lecture interesting! I definitely recommend her and will take her again for A&P!
Just took her Bio100 online course this summer. In my opinion the class was super easy. Just keep on top of the assignments. There is only one required campus visit for the final and most of the points you accumulate are from homework (which she does NOT grade), but grades only for completion! Easy, easy A if you do all the assignments.
This is the first internet class I have taken. I chose BIO because I already knew quite a bit about it and thought it would be a good starting point to see if I like internet classes. Leden is very organized and answered my questions fairly quickly. I liked the way the course was set up. Not a simple class, I still learned something from it!
fill in notes on power point lectures. you know what to expect. lots to learn and study. but she gives you everything you need to know and is willing to help.
This class can be really easy all you have to do is show up everyday! she gives you a quiz each day only 5 questions (don't worry) about the lecture prior to the class, you fill in the blanks on power points and really thats all her tests are based on (your notes). If you don't understand something she will help you figure it out.
Very helpful!!
this class is very easy, you have a short quiz every other class day, she drops your lowest quiz and test,
I took her internet class and it was SOOO time consuming she acts like her class is the only one you have time for.
Extremely Difficult to follow. Her tests are not strictly over her notes there are also text book questions. Doesn't help at all during lab and doesn't give good help when you ask questions I never missed a class studied really hard and still only got a C. Take Dr. DT it's where Leden got all her notes and ideas anyway!
I will be the first to admit that I hate Biology and so when I took it at RVC i failed and then I took it online and wow what a difference I have a 93% and all that i have left is the final. Take her online bio trust me!!!!!!
Working a full time job and taking her class. Currently impossible for me to pass. The tests are too hard and you only can pass it if you have all day to study which I didn't.
She is a great teacher easy to understand and follow, if you take the time to show up to class fill in the note packets and do your homework. It is college and I worked full time while taking a full 16 CH semester and still got an A in her class and the others. It takes time and effort to do it though.
I absolutely loved her! It is a very challenging class and you have to spend a lot of time studying, but if you pay attention and stay within the time limits of the syllabus, you shouldn't have any problem. Her lecture exams are straight from her notes. Take her!
Make sure you have A LOT of time to study! One nice thing is she doesnt grade homework just collects it to make sure you have it done and completed. but test we extreamly HARD. quiz every day over what you learn the class before, does give you outline for all notes, she teaches realllly fast too expecially for an into to bio class.
Best Bio Class thus far. She makes the class interesting during her lectures, all of them are posted on Itunes which helps if you miss a class. The tests are all multiple choice and requires a lot of memorization. She is a terrific teacher.
Best Bio Teacher at RVC. Her class is difficult only to those who do not read and study for her exams. I could listen to her lectures all day long. She makes each part of the note taking process as easy as she can by posting fill in the blank notes to download and then also adding her lectures to itunes. A+++ Teacher!
Best biology teacher at RVC
Love this professor. I am impressed with her knowledge and passion for what she does. She is always energetic, laid back and always willing to help!
This teacher has a passion for what she is teaching which always makes it easier to listen to. Her homework and tests are fair. She makes note taking easy and her tests are right off of the notes in class. While she does go fast if you don't understand something she will stop and go in depth until you get it. I will take her again!
She is a super fair teacher and i agree with others when they say she has a passion for what she teaches. She really wants people to understand the material she's covering and is always willing to help. I really wish i could take her again!
Great teacher! Just study the notes and you'll do fine on the lecture exams. Lab can sometimes be vague but she is always willing to help of you don't understand something.
I had Leden for both BIO 281 and 282. Come on, Anatomy in itself is a hard class, but if you study the note packets, you'll do great! She is always there to help so if you have questions, JUST ASK. She will not send you away if you don't understand. Changed the "lab book" to her own layout and it was SO MUCH EASIER to understand. She's very fair.
she has hard test but is really fun in class. keeps your attention well. i like her alot but i dont know if i would take her again because i didnt do good on test. she is helpful and outgoing with tons of enery that can be contagious sometimes.
These are very hard classes. Lisa gives all expectations up front, is interesting during lecture, and is VERY helpful. She is an amazing teacher and she really knows the material. Make sure you study and are able to apply the information.
Def a keeper! She's friendly, but not too friendly, always keeps class on track & will help if you're showing you're dedicated to learning. Not too hard on materials & wants to see you do well. Overall very happy I took her classes.
Professor Leden's lectures are very informative. She also has a kind of morbid sense of humor. "If your sodium potassium pumps don't work, you're going to die". "If your proteins denature, you're going to die". Her class made me want to remember to take my daily multivitamin...
Lecture-based exams. Research papers with abstracts cut out that she nit-picks about, despite no pre-req for stats or research methods course (unethical). Labs based on course books, in class materials, and some abstraction of learned anatomy. Won't teach you how to study for the course (unethical). Study as well as you can for each lab. She's hot
Dr. Leden has an absolutely hilarious sense of humor. Class flies by while she lectures. As long as you pay attention in class and take notes you will do fine on the tests. She is also always willing to meet with anyone struggling with material. She truly wants to see her students excel and LEARN.
Be prepared to study; she's super tough on grading. She expects you to actually apply information. She hates cell phones, and will kick you out if you're caught using it while in class. Don't eat in class 'cause she thinks it's gross--even though the cadavers are in a different area. Just not what I was expecting, and I'm an A student.
All homework is taken for participation, but none of the questions on the quizzes reflects what you did on the homework. And the same goes for the mid-term and final. Study absolutely everything and know everything that is in the book. Does not offer any extra credit or study guides. Class was hard and she gives little help/instruction.
She is a great teacher!!! The subject matter is hard and she won't take it easy on you, which is a good thing because this is not a subject you want just to be handed an A. Make flash cards and study the questions at the end of the chapter! Find or form a study group off the bat and you will ace every test!
This is a poorly-designed online class. It appears she has simply posted her in-person powerpoints, and expects the student to somehow know the lectures that go with them. Quizes and tests are based upon lectures rather than the book. An online course needs to be designed for online - not just an incomplete presentation of the in-person class.
Leden's class was not a very difficult class. However, if you planned on simply showing up and passing, good luck. You must actually do you work if you want to receive a good grade (which is expected out of any class). The lecturing is very helpful, however, studying out of the book helps greatly. If you do all your homework, it's not hard to pass.
She was a delight to have and I feel blessed to have taken someone who pushed me to work and not take the easy road. All the Questions at the end of each chapter should be looked at and reviewed with her during office hours, you will pass all of her tests and learn that way.
If you are thinking about taking BIO-100 online DON'T. There is very little communication with the online class. Everything is done online except the midterm and final which were done on campus. The average our class was a 58%. I did go to her for help and she was VERY nice, but online classes are hard.
Teacher is too strict and sets you up to fail. She makes you talk to her in a professional manner or she won't respond to you. Must say "Dear professor" add a formal subject etc. Doesn't offer a study guide for her midterm or final. Terrible professor. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Good teacher. Have to know the material well for the tests. Would take her again. Shes funny and keeps it interesting. She really dumbs it down for you to understand.
She is the best!! She jokes around and keeps it interesting!! Homework for every chapter, quizes once a week, 5 exams, 1 cumulative final! She will drop your lowest 2 homework scores, lowest 2 quiz scores, lowest 1 test score (not final). Extra credit offered on every quiz and test! The class is very difficult material wise so make sure to STUDY!!
I took an online class of hers, and before Midterm I dropped the class. There was no clarity of our assignments, test did not correlate with the booknotes, and no feedback at all. Do not take her online class. I thought it wouldn't be that bad, but it is. DO NOT TAKE.
Great Teacher! Tests are very challenging. Quizes every week but on every quiz there are extra credit questions! Drops 2 quizes and 1 Test. If you ever have question send her an email or ask her during office hours and she will always help you out. Just be sure to take notes and listen or it will be a difficult semester for you.
Leden is a great prof. She's funny, easy to talk to, and will make an effort to be there for you. However, this class is not easy whatsoever. I wouldn't recommend taking it with many other classes because you will need to devout most of your time to this class alone. Tests are application-based and just memorizing terms will not get you very far.
Worst Professor. No consideration at all.
Felt as if there was a lot of information that she didn't go into detail on, and the detail portion would be on the tests. Only does quizzes and tests, no homework is assigned which kind of stinks because there is a lot information to take in.
Awesome teacher! she is very clear on what she wants I would take her class again anytime
An absolutely awful class. I took the online class; It was set up horribly. She hides assignments in sneaky places to set you up to fail. Also, submit an assignment a minute late? No credit, no exceptions. The most uncaring, inconsiderate professor I have ever had the displeasure of taking. She won't respond to questions, she only belittles you.
I met her once and I think she would be GREAT in class and as a lecturer. DO NOT take this class online. I am an excellent student, and I this is the hardest class I have ever taken. I got a high A but spent a crazy amount of time on it. I had to look up terms in the online quizzes on my phone to answer. Cumulative on-campus midterm and final.
she really wants you to understand biology, it is not an easy class and yes you will spend a lot of time on the computer. read, read, read and you will do great.
In all the years of taking online classes I have never been given 25 minutes to answer 20 "fill in the black" questions. No multiple choice at all! Awful! I understand wanting a student to understand the terms but this is a general/intro course. Not to mention you have to go to school for the midterm and final to take the tests at the test center.
I don't know that it was lisa herself that was hard. But this class was nearly impossible to pass. I studied on average about 16 hrs per test and still wound up with C's and D's. She expects you to learn the material but then will ask you in ridiculous wording on the test. Tests were so so so so hard. She gives quizzes every day.
took her online Bio 100 class, worst online class I have ever had. Shes so unhelpful, and none of the material she covers in her homework assignments matches her quizzes. I emailed her for some guidance about halfway through the semester and she responded with a snarky and sarcastic email that was of no help.
Leden is the best bio professor I've had. Bio is a hard class in general, but if you really take time to study, do her study guides, and look over your quizzes, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. There's TONS of extra credit opportunities on quizzes and tests. Blood donation also. By far my favorite professor at RVC.
Leden is in my top 2 worse professor in my 3 years of RV. She is unwilling to help. When I asked he questions she would respond with "I can't tell u that." Do not look anything up online. She accused me of plagiarism when I had 1 word that was the same. Also, no matter how hard you study you will probably fail. I studied for WEEKS and only got 79%
Leden is a good professor who cares about her students success. These two classes are definitely difficult and require massive amounts of self discipline and studying. Read the book and study everyday and you will do well. I learned so much!
Leden is an amazing teacher! She definitely makes you work hard for your grade, but in the end (if you worked hard) you will do well in the class. There are daily quizzes that are given to make sure you keep up with the material and she is always willing to help outside of class as well. She is very nice and is a fair teacher!
Lisa is grate at lecturing !But her quizzes are hard, she gives 30m min for each quiz every week and when you get them back you have only 5 min to go over them and you have to return them ,not allowed to keep the quiz if you fail to return she will grade you as a F and if you tray to take photo by the phone she will grade you as F as well.
Lisa has been one of my favorite teachers. She always makes relatable jokes or stories to help you understand and remember the material. The exams can be difficult, but they are directly from the notes and if you actually take the time and review they are fairly easy. I would recommend her to anyone!
Professor Leden wasnt bad. I took the course online and there was homework due every other week on two chapters. There were 8 modules total, 2 chapters each. At the end of each module there is a quiz on eagle. If you listen to her recorded lectures, youll do fine on the quizzes. There are 3 test in the semester, all 100 points each. Take online.
You would never know this was an INTRODUCTUON ago biology class. I have taken most classes online including math where I was able to teach and study material to learn it. NOT THIS CLASS! none of the material she covered in lecture was on the homework, nothing from the homework was on the quizzes or tests. I felt like i was set up to fail. Terrible!
Leden is an awesome professor. She explains her lectures thoroughly and tells you her expectations. She makes lectures interesting and is more than willing to help you at any time!
Does not give extra credit, quizzes are not all multiple choice most is fill in the blanket with nothing to go off of. If you want a challenge she is the perfect teacher.
She is an amazing professor, she knows what she's talking about and gives you a sheet on how to pass. The reading in the textbook isn't required, but I highly recommend it. You need to study a lot for this class to pass, but she knows it's a difficult class and is there to help. Quizzes almost daily, except on test days. Stay for lab time always!
Bio100 is very entertaining subject. The class is about the human. Its great subject to understand who we are. The professor is awesome. She is very very good at her work.
Loved this class and I'm not even good as science, as long as you study a bit you'll be fine. The quizzes are simple and right off the lecture and there's extra credit on each one. You don't need the book but it's super helpful and so are the study questions she posts.
Her lectures were thorough and helpful. There were a few paper assignments that she graded really difficultly. Quizzes everyday - but they were only 6 questions covering the previous class session's material (either lecture or lab). She offers so much extra credit. I would definitely recommend her for A&P!
Seriously, such an amazing professor. This class takes a lot of self discipline but if you take the time to really understand and memorize content for her exams, you'll do great! All of the content for lectures is very straight forward, but there is a lot of content. Tons of opportunity for extra credit too! Would definitely recommend her for A&P.
Professor Leden is probably the best professor I've had. She is great at lecture and her expectations for her students are very clear. There's lots of opportunities for extra credit. She understands that this class contains a large amount of hard information, and she does what she can to accommodate to that. Not bad if you study and come to class.
Despite the difficulty of the class, Dr. Leden is my favorite professor I've ever had. She rarely assigns homework outside of the usual studying for her daily quizzes, which are only 5 questions plus a chance for extra credit. Attendance is crucial if you want to do well, and you will need to be willing to put in the extra time to study everyday.
Its definitely a tough class, but she makes it easier and provides everything you need to know on her PowerPoints.
Lisa is my all-time favorite professor. Her course is difficult, but Anatomy & Physiology is just a difficult course no matter where you take it. Her teaching style is very engaging, and she provides so many resources for success.
I LOVE Leden. Yes, the class is difficult, but if you are a good student and have previously done well, you should be fine. Put the work in, always show up to lecture (you can NOT miss lectures), and use the resources. She offers a good amount of extra credit, but you have to earn it. The tests are in depth, but there are study resources- use them.
Lecture tests were impossible for me. I would study for hours trying all different types of ways to help me memorize and it never turned out good on the test. The questions were tricky, weird "K" type questions. There is no homework so you had nothing to study from but the lecture powerpoints. She said, "This class takes blood, sweat, and tears."
Her test exams stink, but as long as you can remember every little detail on every slide for her PowerPoints u will do fine. That is the only thing I struggled in. Quiz and lab practical were decent as long as you studied. Tough grader on her papers for no reason those should be an easy A. I asked for my ways to study and she never helped
Leden's class is tough, but doable if you put in the work. Attend every lecture, use the provided resources, and leverage tools like unstuck study for efficient study prep. The exams are challenging, but with dedication, you can succeed.
Lecture is extremely boring and only reads off slides, and makes it difficult to show up and pay attention in class.
