Excellent professor. Very organized. Makes class interesting. Take her, for sure!- Stay on top of your homework and essays though!
Be careful uses exact formatting. Difficult class lots of hw. Nice but hard. Lots of reading (of course) Good luck if you take her!
Great teacher and very pretty!! However, too much HW and reading...
Very nice, and helpful. Good teacher although loves to read a lot, and lots of homework.
Great teacher, good material
Not a difficult class if you do what you are assigned, which is quite a bit of reading. Pleasant teacher, at least one of the readings each week was really good. She uses different material than the rest of the ENG dept. Best Eng teacher I've ever had.
Great speaker in the classroom. Seems to be overloaded and unorganized. Outside of class she very cold and unhelpful.
Great teacher! I was impressed of her beauty at first, and then she attitude was just so nice! She was so willing to help me out when I was taking her class! I had learned a lot from her and I really appreciate what she had done for me!
she does look good. She's not that organized. Her sylabus is unclear about dates when homework should be done! She doesn't seem sincere! she is ok.

HOT TEACHER WITH GOOD PERSONALITY. I RECCOMEND THIS TEACHER BECAUSE SHE IS EASY AND HER CLASS IS INTERESTING.
Very nice teacher take her especially in the summer.....take her!
the most boring class i've ever taken
Still do not know how to write grammatically correct. She assumes you understand her. Only offered the Eng. lab when asking for help. Never sure what exactly was incorrect on writing assignmetns.
She isn't cold if you'll simple speak with her. Sometimes she *is* a bit disorganized, however, and that can be an obstacle. I recommend her for people with already-strong English backgrounds. Oh, and as a side-note... she really is stunningly attractive!
Horrible teacher. very unorganized, doesn't stick to syllabus, random homework assignments, seems to make the class up as she goes. also very cold, no extra credit, and no help durring her office hours. Seriously this lady should rethink her people skills DONT TAKE HER.... I Warned you
Ms. Ledri gets carried away with stories. She did not lecture much the first few weeks of class. She assumed we all knew it. (Basic grammer in a 101 class) If we all knew it, we would be in 110 or 120. Overall, interesting class. Almost like a history class. If you need help she will refer you to the English Writing Lab.
not organized at all.

Lisa Ledri-Aguilar is the best english teacher I have ever had. She keeps you excited and interested in class. She picks great book to read; "Tuesdays with Morrie" and "Black Like Me." The essay promts are very easy to get into, and writing has been alot of fun. If you want facts and pure out of the book teaching then Mrs. Ledri is not for you.
shes fine
I took this class linked to women and literature. Compared to the other class this was a snooze fest but she is a nice sweet and caring teacher. She mimght go by a different name now because she got married and was going to change her teaching name. However good class nice teacher. Shes on your side.
She is a great teacher. She is very sweet and she is easy to get along with. She made the class interesting.
Mrs. Ledri is a pretty good teacher. She helped expand my vocabulary & the tests are straight forward. the class is laid back & as much as she says she doesnt accept late work (she does) becuase she wants you to pass the class
i love her. she`s one of the best! i`d take her over again but her classes doesn`t fit with mine.
I took this class Summer 2006 and we read at a very fast pace. I think this class is easier in the fall because you don't have to read a book per week (like we did). She did unite our class and provide time for a party, ,conferences, pictures, and exchanging phone numbers/e-mail during the last days of the course. I would choose her.
Had to take this class for GE, She made it easy with a couple easy essays and a few movies. extra credit for going to shows at grossmont and all around she is really nice. easy B.
Easy class in general (98R) but she made it that much easier. Her tests were pretty straight foward if you read the books and the presentations. As long as you do your homework you will get an A+ in this class. Ledri made it entertaining at times and shes really nice and caring. Although she doesnt really offer help outside of class.
Her lectures are useless.. but she is really nice and makes her class almost impossible to walk out with anything below a B. Great easy-going personality.. easy to ace her class.. ... but useless lectures. I could have gotten an A in her class even if I never showed up for her lectures.. just turned in the essays.
She is nice but no fun at all. she cant teach english very well but she can tell you about it. most of the learning is done outside of class and for each essay you have to take it to the english writing center for it to be graded. she doesnt give enough time on essays. essays are pretty easy though. not recommended!
Professor Ledri enjoys teaching very much. She can be helpful at times. The lectures aren't really a big help. You have to go to the writing center before turning in your final papers. the FINAL RESEARCH paper can be pretty difficult. Must write a research paper PROPERLY or she will take off points. Overrall, she is a good english instructor
AMAZING TEACHER! Ledri really enjoys teaching and she enjoys talking and having fun with students. There are a few essays but each has a guideline that makes is easy to follow. She makes you take your paper to the English Writing Center which really helps strengthen your paper. I learned a lot in her class and had fun doing it.
She's rather easy and explains things clearly (yet, her handwriting is hard to read). She's also nice. She doesn't grade too hard either. I took this course as part of the Project Success link. Since this course was linked to English 201 (Images of Women in Lit.), the essays we wrote were often related to women's history and family relationships.
A little tough but fair. inspired me to take the next link and thanks to her I passed the next one with flying colors.
She is very nice and explains stuff very well. I feel she believes in busy work a little too much though. As long as you do the reading and deal with sometimes elementary like rules, you will do fine! It was a fun class, and was interesting at times, I'm just happy it's over.
Awesome teacher had her and Cathy Harvey in the 98/98R link great teachers!! I loved all of the books that Mrs. Ledri picked for us to read. After testing in her class to see where I was reading level wise they both wanted to move me up to 110! You have to show up and you have to read the books other wise you won't do well on test.
Mrs.ledri-Aguilar is awesome I loved her class and I'm going to take her again this semester. She is a smart and level headed woman. She uses life experiance with history to help you learn new things that lame socially retared students don't know! she is the best!
some of the assignments are somewhat pointless you dont really have to read the things in the book unless there is a quiz there are no tests and it is easy to get an A on the essays she forces you to go to the english writing center for all your essays which is really annoying overall kind of boring but pretty easy take link with 109!
She is a good teacher and fun to talk to. However, the curriculum is not very challenging and somewhat redundant but it works on improving your skills. This was linked with a 110 composition class.
She is a very cool teacher and very passionate about what she is teaching. She really cares about her students and wants them to be exposed to things beyond the text book. She is very organized and always on time. She demands a lotttt of work from her students, maybe too much. I was overwhelmed with the work load in her class. Shes really helpful!!
Just be ready to read like a MOFO!She's cute though and she take care of herself and her students.
She expects way too much from her students. An essay due every two weeks including writing an average of six pages in our journals every week. Plus an 8-10 pg research paper at the end of the semester. She was, however, really passionate and helpful. Also, class was very enagaging. Overall, overwhelming amounts of work but helpful professor.
She's a really awesome teacher, very helpful, and interesting. But there is alot of assignments expected from the student, and they can get very overwhelming. Her classes are very interesting, as she is very knowledgable..you'll learn alot in her class, and won't regret the hardwork
Yes, there are major writing assignments, but this is an Eng 120, college level course! She is modern, interesting and intelligent. Expectations are clear and she makes herself available if add'l help is needed. Go to class, do the work, you will do well. Very fair and consistent. Some fun xtra credit outings.
She is a very nice and intersting woman who cares about her students. She is not a harsh grader when it comes to essays, but assigns a lot of busy work that is worth a lot of points. Essays are pretty easy to do. But, if you are looking for an easier English 120 class, I would suggest you take somebody else.
LOVED THIS CLASS! She definitely requires A LOT of work done from the students but it really is worth it! I learned so much in this class! She's very helpful and gives constructive feedback on all essays. You will definitely see MAJOR improvement in your writing if you take her class!
This turned out to be one of the most rewarding classes I've ever taken. She expects alot, but it makes you a better student and writer. All the material we read was so interesting and controvercial. I enjoyed the in class discussions. A ton of writing and work, but if you can stay on top of it, this is an excellent class with a great teacher.
Wonderful professor. She really cares about her students. She's always there if you need help. Gives great constructive criticism. It's a little difficult, but if you work hard, you'll do great! I took two of her classes already, 120 and 124, and I definitely recommend her. For her 120, take the linked course with Philosophy! June Yang is awesome!
She is fun to talk to if you have an actual conversation with her. I take her for 98R but she said my level was much higher so we talk on a daily bases. She helps out a lot and doesn't mind sitting down if you need help. Her reading books can be interesting but not for a person who reads on a daily bases. Good teacher and looks good too.
This goes back to 1999 and Honors English at City. Lisa was amazing. But it was a magical group. Smart people don't always get along, but Professor Ledri set the arena for us to have fun and challenge each other without insult or foul; and in simply that way (among others) she gave us a fantastic gift.
By far my favorite teacher at Grossmont! She is very passionate about teaching, she is extremely helpful, and very nice :) I strongly recommend her!!!
She uses a few books but lets you use your tablets and things of that nature in class so you dont have to write notes down. She seems to really enjoy teaching so it shows through in her teaching. She's on point and makes sure that you know her office hours in case you need a little extra help and she posts EVERYTHING on blackboard so you have it
She isn't very clear in her lectures or her assignments. Also, she teaches wAy too much god stuff. I thought this was a critical thinking class not religious studies. Pass.
Pretty bad, way too into C.S. Lewis, probably even more into his work then he himself was. A 25 extra credit assignment moved my grade up by .3 percent..
I took Professor Ledri-Aguilar for English 120 this past fall, and she was excellent! I loved how she focused on social justice issues, and the way she introduced us to C.S. Lewis's writings. Lewis rocks! I highly recommend Ms. Ledri-Aguilar's courses to all of my friends.
Lisa is tough, but she is a good teacher. Don't expect an easy A.
Professor Ledri-Aguilar is an excellent instructor. I am enjoying her wide variety of books in English 120, and I hope to take her next semester for English 124. She's caring, kind, and very knowledgeable.
A LOT of work to do, and most of it feels like busy work. Like the second half of class is spent focusing on one book, going over and over the same info, getting graded on it multiple times. Expect to write a lot, with a good 40+ journals, 4 to 6 a week or so, and 4 essays. Not many tests though and they are fairly easy.
Professor Ledri-Aguilar is a great teacher. She is very helpful and clear. Her class does have a lot of reading assignments, but it's english class, so. We watched movies and took notes on them in her class. If you ask for help, she is always willing to help. I really enjoyed her class.
Professor Ledri-Aguilar is a very knowledgeable English teacher normally I'm not a huge fan of English but I enjoyed this class. Essays really began to come close together towards the end of the semester (2 during last 3 weeks). However she is a very generous grader, i got B's on essays i thought I deserved C's. Overall i would recommend her.
Professor Ledri-Aguilar is an awesome teacher. I personally enjoyed her lectures and variety books. Be prepared for a lot of reading and writing assignments. 4 essays & a paper are mandatory. But she will help you from day one. If you do your best, she will help you pass. She is generous. I would recommend her.
Get ready to read. I'm taking her for Engkish 124 and the first two weeks are basically a food nutrition class. It's boring if you don't care about what you eat, but it gets better from there. Fast pace, but it's easy to keep up with. She's VERY nice and she cares about her students.
I took Professor Ledri-Aguilar's English 124 this summer, and I loved it. Professor Ledri-Aguilar is a great facilitator, and she kept us engaged with a variety of topics, discussions, and Ted Talks. Loved how she approached critical thinking, and she was always open to new perspectives. Awesome Professor! I highly recommend her class.
She is nice but super tough grader, over 40 journals to complete, plus hw, plus 4 essays. 5 books required for one semester. Puts too much emphasis on single assignments. Extra credit didn't help my grade by much even though its worth 25 points. Lost the entire classes grade for one rough draft, and it is affecting everyones grade by at least 5%.
I just finished Professor Aguilar's English 124 course, and I enjoyed it so much! I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in learning. We read about food, and money, and worldviews. It was so exciting to be in this course, and I can't imagine a better instructor! She was caring and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this professor!
Very friendly
I had a hard time with reading, so I found a connection with writing to comprehend a lot easier throughout time. All it takes is time and doing your best at it. It's worth to be in this class as a starting point before going further in coursework.
Hands down one of the best professors Ive had. For the people commenting that there is too much work I would say are just lazy. There is a lot of reading, but she picks interesting books. If you are hesitating on taking her dont she was great. Makes class fun and I can say I never dreaded going to class. Take her you wont regret it.
Honestly, she is one of the most understanding and great professors out there. Yes, it's a lot of homework and reading, but it's all worth it!! If you can't pass this class then it's just pure laziness. She makes class fun and she's pretty funny herself.
Ledri is a very kind professor, shes not mean in any way. But her class has an insane amount of reading, and journal responses so if youre taking multiple classes, dont do it. Class time is interesting because of the discussions but I never feel like I learn anything.
I love professor Ledri-Aguilar! I took her for English 120 and really enjoyed her teaching style. She is a caring professor and is always willing to help. Prepare for lots of reading and journaling, but if you keep up you will pass this class. The assigned reading was very interesting and inspirational. Take her, she's amazing!
This was my first class taken at Grossmont and I have to say that I am super impressed with Mrs. Ledri-Aguilar. She is funny but real and always makes herself available to the whole class for questions or concerns. There is a lot of reading and writing so be prepared for that.
Lisa was definitely one of my favorite professors, and yes there is reading and writing you have to do but the reading is there to help you become a better writer. Also, she is a great communicator so, if you happen to have any questions or need help she will email you back right away, and wont hesitate to help you.
Lisa Ledri-Aguilar was an okay professor. She is a very nice lady, however, she teaches and acts like a high school teacher rather than a college professor which was a bit annoying. Also, I personally did not learn anything from her class despite the LOTS of assignments she assigned.
Lisa is VERY sweet and considerate of others. This semester I had some family difficulties and missed a lot of class, but she was supportive and sweet about the situation. I took 124 & theres a lot of reading and writing but she allows you to turn things in late, so thats helpful!!
One visit to her office will show you how much she cares about her students and how she wants them to succeed. She will be there for you from the very first day. A lot of reading, but the books and the discussions make the class really interesting. If you do the work, you will do great in the class. Definitely recommend taking her!!
Shes overall a great professor and passionate about teaching students. She wants you to succeed! However, participation is a big factor of her class, so if you arent a big talker youll get a zero. She also MAKES you come to office hours to grade your rough drafts/outlines. Expect to wait up to an hour of your own time.
Professor Ledri-Aguilar is fascinated with literature and literary criticism, and it shows. However, it is A LOT of work. Expect to be reading at least 8 to 10 hours a week, give 110% in participation, and you better be on your toes for the essays. If you can keep up, you may actually enjoy it a bit. But, it was one of my more exhausting courses.
Shes sweet and her work is pretty easy but I just wasnt interested in the topics she taught.
This was my second time taking Prof. Ledri-Aguilar's class with ENGL 124 being the last. She was an incredible professor the second time and really helped me understand the texts we read. The course is very reading heavy and participation heavy so you really need to do both to pass with a good grade. I definitely would recommend her class.
I took American Lit II with this professor and it was a fantastic class. In the middle of the semester, we had to transition to online learning and she made it such an easy transition. Don't let the fact that she requires a textbook deter you because she does this in order to provide a very diverse group of voices and allows you to buy older books.
Pros -Great feedback -Very engaging -Pretty interesting reads -What you learn in this class is very useful -Professor is really sweet and is always willing to help Cons -ALOT of reading. Highly recommend taking bulleted notes on every article and book you read because you will be referring back to them -participating is essential and part of grade
I am just finishing up Professor Ledri-Aguilar's English 124 course in Spring of 2023, and I loved it! What a great professor she is! I loved her care for all of us and the topics she helped us to explore! I totally recommend her to other students!
Awesome! Professor Ledri-Aguilar is a super caring person, and she helped me through a very difficult semester because she cared about what I learned and how I progressed in teh course. I would take her again anytime. Highly recommend her course!
Lisa Ledri-Aguilar was a fun, caring teacher and seemed a generally nice person. While the class was VERY homework-heavy with almost no down time, lectures were helpful and interesting. Towards the end of the class we had a group project almost every session, to discuss what we were reading. I'd recommend taking this class if you need ENG-124.
I would personally not take this professor again. I feel my grade in the class was unfair because even though I did okay on the essays, the assignment that she made to help outline the essay and was literally just a rough draft affected my grade as much as the actual essays. Also required to speak a lot.
Lots of reading and homework but it was interesting and helpful. Also a good number of group discussions. Professor marks attendance but you can email about missed material/etc. Personally had to miss many classes but she was always nice and understanding about it. Not much lenience for late work but I felt like I learned a lot--good class overall.
