The WORST teacher i have had at KSU. You KNOW she does not want to be in the class, You wil NOT get an A on any tests. She thinks she is an angel to give you a study guide (which doesnt help you one bit) " it is not a meorization test it is a comprehensive test.
LMAO... She use to teach at West Ga. She was the worst teacher I have ever had. She goes off topic a lot. She does not speak with any enthusiasm, makes you question if she wants to be in her own class. Read the book because lectures will not help you learn a thing. Good luck with who ever gets stuck with her.
this woman speaks with no enthusiasm and is useless when you ask her anything!
Despite her strict attendance policy, it seems like the classroom is the last place she wants to be. She seemed like a nice enough person, was relatively approachable, but if you're looking for an even somewhat enthusiastic professor, take another section of the course if you can. Study guides are helpful, but are considered a HUGE favor for her.
Lisa (her choice) is very knowledgeable about her subject matter. She however does give the appearance of not wanting to be there.I think it is more the fact that it is a GEN ED and not something she can sink her teeth into than anything else.
She gives you a study guide then states.."This isn't a study guide for the test, I just cut and pasted it, its from the book" So a student ask... "So whats going to be on the test?" she says "I dont know I havent made it yet. 2 days before the test... DONT TAKE HER. IM A B STUDENT!
I LOVED LISA! She is super funny during class and I loved her lectures! I learned a LOT in her class. The assignments are easy the tests can be difficult but if you go to class and review notes and read the chapters you'll be fine! Plus she bumps you up if you attend and participate! Great teacher!
I don't know what some people on here are saying! Lisa is awesome! We always got out of class early and her lectures are very interesting and funny. She gives a study guide for tests and offers extra credit opportunities. The tests are comprehensive, but just come to class and you will know the material. TAKE HER! She is wonderful! I got an easy A!
likes to get outta class early. lots of nice tiny tiny assignments. MUST READ THE BOOK. kinda funny. nice lady
She stereotypes! She can be very rude. Tests arent bad as long as you read the book. She gives a few easy 100s so its good to go to class but she doesnt take roll.
She was not very passionate about coming to class and teaching, and it definitely showed. If you are the type of student who needs a happy and motivated teacher, please do not take her. Her personal life seemed to get in the way of the class and lectures.
Shes OK,not wow,but she knows her stuff. If she sees you make an effort for her class, she takes that into account. As for the class tests are based completely on txtbk, so buy it.Quizes, drops the lowest grade.About 6 easy assignments,no more than 1pg.If u read,do assgments& do well on tests u can pass. I got an A in her class.
Lisa is a great teacher. She has a very dry sense of humor, which people seem to misread. The class is very eye opening and makes you look at things you might not have even thought about before. There's nothing particularly hard or unexpected, and it's a very interesting class.
She's ok. Attendance isn't taken, but she gives pop quizzes and in class assignments so you need to go. A lot of reading each week and a lot of material covered on the test. Often gives easy 100's if you come to class. 4 1 page papers, three exams and pop quizzes make up your grade. Gives some extra credit. Not an easy a, but it is do-able.
Easy class to take if you just do the work. However she is VERY opinionated, she only sees things from her perspective and if you differ you are wrong. Other than discussions, this class is not bad at all as long as you do the work and go to class. You will need the book, tests come strait from it and the readings.
This class is EASY and INTERESTING. Lisa is brutally honest, insightful and has a weird but funny sense of humor. A few papers and some very easy tests straight from the book.
I looooved Prof. Lepard alot! I think she's the best teacher I've ever had.Loved her teaching style. She lets you look at your notes for the quizes which makes you read the book!!!!! Everything on the quizes is from the book, so you have to take good notes especially the names of people in the book. I learned a lot. She's a wonderful human being.
This class took up a lot of my time outside of class. I complained all semester about how much I had to study for this class but it was worth it. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and is not a tough grader. More importantly, I really learned a lot and have a better perspective of society.
Although on a personal level, I liked Lisa, she should not be teaching. It is apparent she had rather be anywhere but in class. Her enthusiasm for the class is underwhelming. She could have phoned this course in.
Lisa seems like she dosn't want to be in class and is always kind of ticked off. Having said that, she clearly loves sociology and if you just come to class & participate in discussion, you'll learn so much and get lots of xtra credit. Ended up loving this prof. Would take her again. Easy if you do the reading and come to class.
Lepard never seemed to care to even be in class. Orignally I signed up for a Mon-Wed class & she ended up making it Hybrid (half online). You will write a lot of papers, read the textbook a lot, and her study guides are NEVER what the test is over. Her test are always 'read between the lines' test, it's never over the definitons, or main points.
An EZ class if you are going to pass this course. She is super nice, polite and helpful. But... You need to write at least 4 papers during the semester, so think about if you don't like papers, you may want to take a different professor.
Hated her class! Seemed like she never wanted to be there and it was apparant. The papers are 1 page each, Very Easy to BS. If you put something that sounds competent, you'll get an A on those. As for the Tests, haha...good luck. If you havent memorized everything that every sociologist said, then you'll fail. I failed all 3 tests but got a C.
She came off as not wanting to be there, but I think she actually enjoys her work and takes it very seriously. You have to read the chapers and be prepared for quizes, but you're allowed to use the notes you take. She gives study guides for the tests and extra credit opportunities. I found the course to be easy and got an A. Just study and read.
She does allow you to use your notes on quizes but you ALWAYS need to be prepared. The notes and reading took up A LOT of time out of class. For just a two hour class, it's not worth it. Take any other teacher but her. If she's the only one, then it can be done otherwise highly suggest someone else. You do finish early though.
Quizzes every week. Take good notes- you can use them on quiz. Cannot make up quizzes missed, so don't miss classes. She was getting angry at people leaving at break, so she added another quiz (attendance sheet, really) to help the people who actually stayed for the whole lecture. Liked her a lot, interested in discussions and what students thought
She is not the most enthusiastic teacher, but you can tell she enjoys what she does. The class is fun and interesting--lets people input their own stories and experiences. Make sure you read the chapters before class and take notes. You can use them on the quizzes and they help out a lot.She cares about your grade and will work with you-extra credit
Be prepared to read every chapter word for word. 99% of her quizes (15) will come from the book. (3) major tests will also come from the book and quizes. Lectures are minimal. Towards the end of semester there was extra credit to help pull anyone up a letter grade. My first test was a 61%, but I did well the rest of the class and made it with an A.
This professor tried to be encouraging and helpful but the class itself was very dull. She did curve 2 of the 3 tests and the final was not comprehensive.
She is a great teacher and is not afraid to speak her mind. She is very nice about extending quiz dates and offering extra credit. Be sure to come to class for the pop quizzes! Great class.
One of my favorite professors, she makes you think in ways you didn't before. She curved some of the tests but they were extremely hard. She is very interesting to listen to but nothing she says is on the test. You seriously have to study the book to make a descent grade it. Oh yeah and there are pop quizzes over the readings!
...you better like to read if you take her..thats the only way to study.. word for word each chapter..some of her questions were so ridiculous.. Class though was entertaining..She kicked people out a few times.BUT GOT TO CLASS..extra credit is given almost everyday if you are IN class.. and the only way to do well on her test is to READ
She is a great professor! She makes class interesting. She is straight forward and clear. Tests are difficult, but if you read all the chapters you will probably do pretty well. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you go you will do WAY better.
I LOVE professor lepard! She is great, she is hilarious and made class completely enjoyable. I didn't exactly get the grade i wanted but that is my own mistake for not studying alot. You have to read ALOT for her class but its not difficult material.
Great teacher. Very funny and interested in the subject. Her class made me consider majoring in Sociology. Go to all classes, because she gives the answers to quizzes in class. Also, READ THE BOOK. You won't regret it.
Professor Lepard is awesome. Don't listen to the comments about how she doesn't like to be there because she does. She just has a dry sense of humor and many people just take it as her being mean or insensitive, when really she's a sweet lady. Attendance not mandatory, you can get away with texting just don't talk in her class. She's super helpful
Easy online quizzes, in class tests are harder. Very biased lessons. You will watch a lot of videos supporting her beliefs on what American society is like, many of which are one sided and somewhat extreme. Class is easy, just does not contain the unbiased material a sociology class should.
Hilarious. She will call you out for making stupid comments in class, so behave and you'll be fine. She is helpful but only if you ask her yourself. Tests are ok, if you miss class or don't take notes you will not do well. READ THE BOOK.
class is easy if you read the chapters. She gives extra credit opportunities that are simple for all tests except the last one. There is no final but only a test. The class is interesting. I would highly recommend you take her. I am not just saying this to screw anyone over...personally i got a C in the class but still enjoyed it.
The class is pretty easy, if there is a better professor though on this site, take them. Lepard makes it seem like she doesnt want to be there, and it got on my nerves. but who gives a crap. quizzes are easy. tests are harder. YOU HAVE TO READ EACH CHAPTER ASSIGNED THOROUGHLY if you want to pass the tests. So if you're into that, take her.
SHE IS HILARIOUS! Will keep you straight and honest. READ the book. You have to if you want to pass the tests. Really funny and very interesting.
Ms. Lepard is a pretty funny teacher, and seems to have a good understanding of the material she teaches. She gave online quizzes which were fairly easy and three tests that were somewhat difficult. She offered extra credit on the tests though, and I got an A.
Prof. Lepard is AWESOME. She knows what she's talking about and she's actually really fun. She's so nice outside of class as well. You should talk with her if you get the chance. The course material isn't hard per se, but you should read the chapters in the book. Most of it will be on the test! The test are hard, but you can pass this class! :D
The class itself was interesting but she was very dull and rude at times. Her tests were impossible even if you studied and read the book. I would not recommend taking her.
She's average in all departments. It's easy to get a B but hard to get an A. She's one of those teachers that makes her personal beliefs was too obvious.
Down to earth
Her test are really hard and are very opinionated. reading the book doesnt help at all.
One of the greatest professors I've ever taken. Extremely witty and intelligent and very very kind. She obviously loves what she does but has a very dry sense of humor, which apparently some people don't get. The class was amazing and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone open-minded enough to handle the material. Tests are pretty hard though.
Definitely a good professor. Lectures are enjoyable and the assignments are clear and straightforward. Go to class and do the reading and you will make an A. The tests are easy and multiple choice and there are no papers. She's a little opinionated but it stirs things up which keeps class from being boring.
Ugh. STUDY GUIDES DONT MATCH TEST! I STUDIED and i got a 66 on the last test. Tests are way too confusing! Shed tell us to study street crime v. white collar crime and on the test it compares white collar and blue collar. I still remember what it was but IDK! Maybe I got that wrong too! Teaches "bc theres nothing else to do!"
I loved this course! She is a great teacher, who is more than willing to help if you are willing to learn. You definitely have to study, but getting a good grade is possible. She made the class interesting, was relative and humorous! I definitely plan to take another one of her courses!
Extremely opened minded and receptive to students challenging her ideas. She actually cares about what she teaches. Bonus: funny, witty, and extremely helpful. Will take another course by her again.
If you read the chapters and attend class then you will get an A in her class. I got a B only because I didn't read the text. Lectures are interesting but she doesn't always seem very happy to be there. My only problem with her was she never emailed me back when I had questions. Overall, easy class!
Interesting class, learned a lot! It is kind of hard if you don't study though. The class is 3 tests and that's it. The teacher sometimes seemed moody but she was funny most of the time! I recommend the class but studying is a must.
I found this class very interesting for the most part. She's pretty cynical, but she'll definitely make you laugh at times. Study for her tests - her questions can be difficult. You will need the textbook and need to take notes.
Started out thinking she would be cool bc she's funny. Knowledgeable but not very enthusiastic, rude, not cooperative w/ me(missed tests bc of seizures). Didn't want to withdraw but had to bc although she agreed to work w/ me she said I can't make them up & had to take just the final, replied apathetically to only 2 of my 10 emails w/ short replies
Hardest Gen Ed I've taken so far. The only grades are 3 tests with an optional final, so if you don't do well on the tests you're screwed (in the 2 credit hour version). I pulled out an A by studying for 3 days straight for the final that pulled my grade up. Avoid this teacher...
The material she taught was insanely interesting and I could tell you a lot about it, BUT I did horrible on the tests. It's one of those classes you just get a C in. The tests don't match the study guides no matter how much shes address she'll change them.. they don't. I'd try another teacher.
Terrible teacher. Worst Professor I've had in college. Study guides have hardly any relevance to her tests and questions on tests are very different from material gone over in class. Missed only 2 classes, made all extra credit, read chapters, and took notes and still did bad. I very highly recommend a different teacher.
She is very funny in class and makes it interesting, however her tests have absolutely zero relevance to what she says in class and the study guide she provides. Highly recommend a different teacher.
Professor Lepard is very laid back and likes to crack jokes. However, her tests are ridiculously hard. She goes over the info in class and gives a study guide, but the test is completely different! She does give extra credit on days when only half of the class shows up.
I took Professor Lepard for Sociology online this summer and her tests were very hard , however she does curve and offer extra credit which helped a lot. There was a good amount of work, however she made it manageable. Overall, the class was an okay experience.
Very easy professor. She is reasonable and fair. This class shouldn't be a problem for you. Attendance not required, and if you study even a little bit, you should be totally fine.
Took this professor as my social science class to graduate. Ended up having to withdrawal from the class. Don't take her! Read her articles watched her documentaries read the book attended every single class and took notes and studied her study guide. Doing all this gave me a 75% on her first test and a 70% on her second test. Don't count on a AB.
worst teacher ever. not nice and not friendly. tests are completely different to her lectures.
I would not recommend taking her classes. Usually only gives 3 exams and an optional cumulative final. She rarely gives extra credit. Her study guides hardly prepared me for the tests. She specifically told me that things would not be on the test and then they would appear on the test. Wouldn't take time to schedule an appointment with me.
AVOID AT ALL COST. Nothing she says in class is on the test. (maybe one question) she does not care to be in the classroom at all. reading the textbook cover to cover and taking notes will get you a C (maybe). Its disappointing because her lectures are actually good and interesting.
If you show up to the lectures, and take good notes, the class is super easy. My recommendation is to bring your laptop and type your notes- it's usually faster than writing. She posts study guides, so the tests aren't difficult. She gives out extra credit too, but you have to show up to class.
Nothing she says is on the tests, the tests are super hard. No way to get a good grade in here really, stay away!
Lepard is funny and I enjoyed the class a lot. The study guides are kinda vague and the test questions are VERY specific, so make sure you do the reading. three tests with an optional cumulative final. She does give quite a bit of extra credit but you have to go to class for it usually. it's difficult because of her tests, but I'd take it again.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Her lectures usually ended early but they were not informative. She would give study guides, but didn't go over them unless someone asked a question. Her tests are nothing like the study guides either. Super difficult. She's funny and witty, but not clear with what she says.
Do not take this class if you are international students. I got C, there are 3 tests and final.
she was a great professor. I took her and found her to be pretty interesting straight from the get-go because everything she talks about is interesting. As far as her tests, google and a lot of notes got me a high B. Had I done better on the final (which replaces a test grade) I'd have had an A. Extra Credit is a LIFE SAVER. Be on her good side.
I took Lepard for Spring 2014 and I found the class really interesting. Other than that, yes, her tests are HARD! There are articles she assigns and you HAVE to read it before test time. DEFINATELY read the book (each ch. is super long) for her tests. i passed with a boderline 80 and that was bc of EC.
Class was interesting, however, she was not the nicest person. started to get extremely angry with our class for no reason as the semester went on. I attended every class, took extensive notes and studied for every test, only to receive a C in the course(I'm a straight A student, too).Tests are ridiculous, even if you think you know the material.
I barely passed this class. She only gives 3 tests throughout the semester so a lot of material is crammed. She is a very laid back teacher, her tests were just very tough. She does give extra credit, sometimes just for coming to class, so I would attend. Also never replies to emails
Professor Lepard has a really bad rep, but honestly she just expects us to be able to act like adults. She is very clear about what she wants and does not bend the rules for anyone. I like this type of class because what is expected of me is very clear. She is funny, good at teaching (If you listen), and will help if you make the effort.
If you ever skip class, you will never pass. Although she posts her powerpoints on D2L, if you don't take notes during her lecture then you WILL fail the test.
Puts her lecture nots on D2L but they are so general that you have to go to class to pass. Only gives 4 test but gives a lot of extra credit. She is hilarious so class went by fast but expect to take a lot of notes. I recommend to record them. Study your notes and get the book. Most test are 50% lecture and 50% book.
Her reviews scared me but it wasn't bad. Read the book (cheapest was renting); assigned chapter material will be on the test. Take good notes in lecture. Readwatch the extra things she puts online. Stay focused and you'll get an A. Don't get mad if you think she's too opinionated. It's sociology so idk what you expected; it's a real subject. :
She's sarcastic 247. Not very helpful. Her tests are hard even if you've studied all the material, and there is only 3 tests.
She's very sarcastic. I understood every part of the material she was teaching. Only 3 exams, final not mandatory. Test are hard- study her lecture notes, the textbook and mainly the readings and videos she posts online and watches in class. Overall not a bad class.
Gets the job done for a general education class. Three tests, final isn't required, only if you need to pass. Usually cuts class short, and canceled a few times. Good sense of humor, doesn't like people arriving late (locks you out). Wording on tests can be confusing and sometimes grammatically incorrect. Gave extra credit twice.
The tests are tough because some of the questions are so specific on a documentary that it sometimes isn't even about the content. Tests are 50% book 50% lecture so make sure to PAY ATTENTION and show up to class. Lots of extra credit. She's super nice and funny but the tests are frustrating.
I had no problems with Lepard aside from the study guides she gave us had almost nothing to do with the test. I read the study guides up, down, sideways, studied the material, but when I took the tests, there was material I'd never even seen before on there. If you want to pass this class, read ALL THE CHAPTERS in the book.
She is a liberal professor and can be annoying but if you go to class and take notes, you shouldn't have a problem. I listenedtook notes, printed them, read them, and got high B's on the tests. The textbook isn't really necessary if you go to class. Put a little effort in and you will do fine. She also gave extra credit, which raised my grade!
3 tests, 1 final (TF final so take it!) Tests can be easy or hard depending on YOU. Do NOT rely on JUST lecturesppt. Let's out early & cancels class a lot. - Word of Advice: TAKE THE EXTRA CREDIT(s). READ the book AND articles! Tests are like 70% lecture 20% book 10% articles. That 30% WILL screw you over!
Awesome professor. She is very blunt, but it's for the better. Everything she speaks out of her mouth - expect it on the test. Don't worry though, it's not THAT much. As long as you take sufficient notes on main components of the chapter you're going to pass with no problem. Don't be afraid to ask for help 1 on 1, she's such a nice lady!
Very blunt. There were 4 tests and an optional final that replaces lowest test grade. She does online quizzes 3 short ones for every test. Does not take attendance but i do not advise you to miss a lot of class because she does cover the material and shows videos in class. Does lecture a lot but tries not to do it the whole class. Great class
The lectures are great and most of the test material comes straight from the lecture. No need to buy the book but make sure you attend the lecture. She locks the doors if you're late. Show up and study and you'll do well.
Pretty good Teacher i would recommend taking her .. shes funny and her lectures can be pretty interesting. she does not do late she locks the door everyday on time which I hated. But, she doesnt take attendance. Her class want to hard if you just did the work and attended class .. I would recommend her
Awful teacher. Could not pass a single test.
I am currently taking this professor online for her intro level 2 hour sociology class. I was skeptical because she is head of the department. There are 2 discussion posts per chapter - one short, one long. Then, there is a 5 minute 5 question quiz. These questions are tough, and very specific. You HAVE to read the chapter to basically make an A.
I took her online class this past summer. There is plenty of work to do, however, I took her 4 week summer course. The work load was a lot but manageable. The quizzes online are only five questions with five minutes to take them.
She is very biased and lets her personal beliefs come out in the way she teaches and it is INFURIATING. She expects people to participate, but if you disagree with her she embarrasses you & makes you feel dumb. Her tests are relatively easy, but she is not an understanding teacher at all. If you want extra help, you're basically screwed. Dont do it
She's clear about what's on tests and makes study guides for each one. Tests are about 50% book and 50% lecture, and aren't hard if you pay attention. Book is online and reading quizzes are mandatory, but they're easy and let you retry questions . Quiz average counts for a test grade which definitely helps get your grade up.
Book is online, make sure to read it well. She follows the powerpoint loosely but speaks softly & her point isn't always clear. Also does videos in class that you can't always find outside of class. Tests are long & you either know it or you don't. Gave extra credit, easy online quizzes, & a study guide, so if you put in the work you'll pass.
LOVE her!! Don't let bad reviews get in the way of taking this course. I enjoyed going to class, interesting lectures. She cancels class a few times. Class is not mandatory but she gives extra credit IF you go to class. So I recommend you don't miss any classes. Tests mostly come from lecture & readings.
Her lectures are very interesting but her tests are so hard. I studied the quizzes, in-class notes, study guides, book and articles for hours upon hours and still didn't pass one test. Don't take her!!!
Good teacher, really nice and helpful, but tests are pretty tough. Got a C on all the tests but with the extra credit managed to get a B in the class. I recommend her
Was an overall ok teacher, loved her sarcasm in class. All we do is take notes quickly, because she talks fast and we watched documentaries when she didn't feel like teaching. Tests are pretty difficult the first one was easy but then the tests got harder. Would recommend taking her if you are willing to work hard.
Ms. Lepard is a wonderful professor. She teaches you things that can be used in your everyday life. She gives plenty of extra credit, so go to class. Also, She can be a bit monotone, but the material she teaches are very interesting. I suggest sitting in the front row, so she can see you care.
Very long lectures but they are interesting most of the time. Her powerpoints are very short so don't really help with the test so you have to attend classes often. Her tests are not easy so it would take a lot of effort to pass. But for most part i enjoyed being in the class because she teaches really good topics and gives out a lot extra credit!
This class has 200 students so there are only test, quizes (online) and extra credit. If you come to class, read the chapter reviews (if you don't have time to read chapters), take notes-- you'll be fine. She is understanding and will curve a test if it is fair to do so. The topics were interesting.
She has very distinct views and if you present something challenging to them that actually makes sense she will just make a sarcastic remark and move on. Her tests are half lecture and half from the book so it is very important to do the reading and attend class. She has a good sense of humor and interesting lectures but can be offensive
By far one of my favorite professors. Super sweet, and very blunt. She is always there to help you, and clarify things if you need it. She's funny and relates topics into our everyday lives. Her test are super super hard though. You also need to read articles and book for the test and do online quizzes (easy).
Very passionate about what she teaches! This class was always interesting and her sarcasm is hilarious. Her tests are very hard but if you come to class every day you'll do fine just pay attention and take good notes. The quizzes are super easy and you can use notes because they're online. Also offers extra credit. Hard A but I would take again!
She has a great sense of humor and is really into what she teaches. She gives a lot of extra credit but you have to show up and stay in class. You have to read and listen in lecture in order to do well on the exams. Powerpoints and study guides are not specific. It is possible to make an A but you have to put in the effort. Don't talk while she is!
She's really nice as long as you aren't late. She makes pretty good jokes and makes class enjoyable. You need to read the book a lot though. Pretty clear cut, a few tests and a final, drops your lowest grade with the final if you do better. Over all, interesting class and would take again.
Avoid Avoid Avoid
Favorite teacher so far in college. She relates all her lectures to everyday life, making them very interested. You don't have to come to class, but highly recommend it because she offers a lot of extra credit for students that do. Don't be late, its her biggest pet peeve. Test are hard, don't wait to start studying. Quizzes are easy.
Her tests are very hard. I would NOT take again!!
I took this class online for just a 10-week course and, as everyone knows, clarity is important for an online class. Dr. Lepard was very clear about grading criteria and much of the material was interesting. When the class encountered issues with MindTap, she handled it immediately and had us just use D2L. Helpful professor, reasonable workload.
Very funny and sarcastic. She is pretty clear about what she expects. Tests can be tough, but can easily get an A with a bit of studying. Tests are half book half lecture so go to class. Her biggest pet peeve is being late, she wont let you in after class begins. Only big issue is that she cancels class quite often without warning.
I took her for perspectives in sociology, and she was really funny but is sarcastic, and will be rude to you if you are a smart-ass. You have to read and know the chapters like the back of your hand for her tests but it's not that hard. Just do what she says and study and you'll be fine!
She's very opinionated but funny and sarcastic so the lectures aren't boring. DO NOT SKIP because she likes to randomly show videos in class and she asks questions regarding the videos on her exams. There are quizzes for each chapter online. Tests are straight-forward. Final was 50 question true or false so SUPER easy. Read the book. Easy A
Extremely rude, sarcastic, and opinionated! Her tests are extreme hard, . SHE GIVES 3 EXAMS AND A FINAL, QUIZES AFTER EVERY CHAPTER, EXTRA CREDIT, AND RANDOM VIDEOS THAT YOU MUST BE THERE TO WATCH BECA THEY WILL BE ON THE EXAM. OVERALL NOT THE BEST PROFESSOR. NEVER AGAIN!!!
You need to go to class she randomly gives extra credit and shows videos that will be on the test. She is super funny, calls kids out if they talk in her class and she is very opinionated. Read the book after every chapter and you should do well.
Lisa Lepard is awesome. She is very clear on what she expects from you, and she gives great, entertaining lectures. I can honestly say I have never been bored in her class. She is very blunt, but honestly I appreciate that, and she's actually very nice! Make sure to READ READ READ the textbook and attend class!! Anything in lecture is fair game!
Great professor! She made me want to change my major to Sociology, that's how great of a teacher she is. She is so passionate about her work & is very open-minded which is amazing. If you have any questions before or during the test she will help you out as much as she can. Her lectures are really interesting & have a open mind when attending class.
Personally, one of my favorite professors! Super passionate about almost everything she talks about so it's easy to get interested during class. Tests are kinda hard but if you study the quiz questions from the chapters, you'll notice they're the same (have your whole class email all your quiz questions to each other as every quiz is different).
Professor Lepard is either a hit or miss. She is very opinionated, sarcastic, and can be disrespectful. However, she makes the class interesting and funny. With that being said, YOU MUST GO TO EVERY CLASS OR YOU WON'T PASS. She shows multiple videos in class and puts questions on them on the tests. But, if you read and attend class, it's an easy A.
I loved Professor Lepard! She tells you how it is, but she is also very funny. Lectures are long and sometimes boring, but she tries to keep students engaged with videos and pictures. She gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit. Easy A!
Overall she's okay. Definitely do not miss class because tests practically come straight from lectures and videos shown in class. Make sure you write down EVERYTHING from lecture. Online quizzes come from the textbook and aren't too bad. She did offer some extra credit and overall I came out with an A.
Don't come to late class. May seem a little up front, but really cares about the students and wants everyone to get a good grade. Read and pay attention in class.
Professor is hilarious, interesting and a great lecturer. However, her tests are tough and if skipping is regular for you, your grade will for sure be a failing one. Tests are based on information IN CLASS and not in the textbook.
Her tests are impossible. She can make lectures interesting when she wants to but most of the time she sighs and has a boring voice. She gives extra credit but its typically writing an assignment. Her additional readings are pointless and boring. Lectures are her reading off slides which do not come from the text. I would not suggest taking her.
She's okay. I wasn't a fan of sociology, but a lot of what we did in that class was based on social issues like race, poverty, etc. She did a great job of teaching in an unbiased fashion which I really appreciated. 1 homework grade from online assignments, test grades, and a final. The final will replace your lowest test grade.
Mrs. Lepard is funny and her lectures are interesting. Her tests are extremely tough so good luck. She gives out study guides, which help a little. You have to go to class to pass. 90% of her tests are what she talks about in class.
Tests are ridiculously hard and very specific.
I would not take her again. She is very opinionated, and she thinks she is always right and you are always wrong. Inquizitive quizzes aren't too bad, but her tests are a bit difficult. I did not enjoy her class at all.
Her personality is not bad, but she makes you watch a bunch of videos and random readings that are on every test. We never have homework which is nice. There are quizzes online that are impossible not to get a 100 on, but her tests are pretty tough. I feel like I do not learn anything in her lectures, and I have to teach myself everything.
she's cool
She is pretty awesome if you consider yourself to be a more liberal person. She calls things out in society for how they are and has clear point about them. The only problems are that her homework takes HOURS to do. You need to read and then play a little game and get your grade for them. Also sometimes it is really hard to understand her lectures.
She is very liberal so if you are not, then you will probably have a problem in her class. She is super biased on everything she teaches and really bashes on republicans and their views. She even went as far as to cancel class because a republican was elected president. Her tests are pretty hard but she does give extra credit.
I really enjoyed this class, specifically in terms of lectures and readings. Her tests are difficult though - I read each chpt twice plus notes taken in class and still struggled to get by. She gets you on the wording. That is the sole reason I would not recommend taking her. Its a fun class but probably best to avoid. Nervous about my grade (
Lisa give out a study guide for her tests but they mean nothing. She will dig so deep into the book or take something she THOUGHT she said, and put those on the test instead. She expects you to remember every detail on the videos in class because she chooses facts at random. One of the worst teachers I've had and the worst teacher for sociology.
I would NEVER take Lisa ever again. She is very opinionated, and if your opinion doesn't correlate with hers, then you're out of luck. Very lecture heavy course, and lots of readings. BEWARE. The course itself is interesting, just take another professor!
Lisa is the WORST teacher I have ever had. Sadly I had to take her my first semester of college. She is so opinionated and literally has made my life so stressful. HIGHLY recommend not taking her at ALL costs. Her tests are literally impossible, you can study for 5 hours and still fail. I hate the class and her.
4 test and a optional final that replaces your lowest test grade. There are quizzes online for every chapter, super easy. You can take the quiz as many times as you want until you get the grade you want (the quizzes do have a due date so be aware). The test are difficult but if you take notes during lecture and read the book you will be fine!
Her class is lecture heavy and takes most of her test questions from content covered in class. Her lectures can be a little dry, but she doesn't put up with BS and tries to connect the class to real life. She's clear about what she expects and it is an easy A.
Professor Lepard is an average teacher. I wouldn't say she's great or bad. If you want to pass the test which is very difficult you have to go to class and take good notes! Don't just rely on the text book but you do have to read. Make sure you go to class because there are videos that are going to be on the exam. Make sure to do extracredit!
I enjoyed this class a lot. People have an issue with her because she is opinionated. But less mature (freshmen) students aren't able to respectfully disagree without being personally offended. I enjoyed her sense of humor and her lectures. The tests are not the easiest & she pulls questions from movies we watch (which are really hard to remember)
Really great lectures but the tests were not based on her lectures just the book. Read the book!!!!!! I would take her again but small class. Class size of 250.
The class as a whole is easy to pass as long as you attend class, and do the online quizzes. If you're looking to get an A then this may not be the teacher for you. Tests are hard, and they come out of the book verses her lectures. She cancels class too much, which ultimately affects the grade. There is extra credit that helps.
Inquizitive was easy. Exams are a mix of book , lecture, and readings/videos. She pulled the most specific stats from videos; almost everyone missed those questions. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. She offered TWO ENTIRE LETTER GRADES worth of extra credit points. Easy A. Took patience to look past the ignorance and immaturity of some of the freshmen though..
Professor Lepard is passionate about sociology and I enjoyed her lectures but her class is hard for a intro course! Her test are so difficult and there isnt a good way to study. Dont bother emailing her because she will not respond. If you are looking for any easy course avoid her.
I wouldn't recommend taking her. Her tests have materials that were not talked about in class. Highly recommend reading the book. She does offers many extra credit opportunities.
She is a very funny person, has interesting lectures, and cares about her students, but her tests are pretty difficult. Extra credit was my saving grace at the end of the year, make sure to take advantage of every opportunity. Very hard to get an A. Cancels class a lot which is a plus.
Do not take if you can avoid. Half the test of over what is talked about in class and the other half comes from every video and article you ever read. If you don't memorize every statistic than you will not make an A or a B. Do not recommend.
loved the class and her! easy A if you read the book and watch the videos. had an A all semester till the last test was 2 days before my chemistry final- chem came first. test may be difficult to some, but you'll be fine if you know how to study, work hard, and read the book! your grade reflects the work you put into it
Lisa is the worst teacher I have ever had and has made this class the hardest thing in the world. She had repeatedly made false statements claiming that they're facts and has even harassed students because they have different political views. Awful teacher and not a fun person, do not take.
She does NOT play about being on time. Doors lock after the start of class. She's awesome though. Easy class. I skip a lot but she shows videos you don't wanna miss. I haven't made anything less than a 70 on her tests.
Her lectures are amazing and super interesting. However, this is one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. I am an A student, but her test questions would be over the most nit-picky things from the book and in class videos and I had to drop the class because I failed her first two tests. There's not many opportunities for extra credit either.
Great lecturer, but the tests are very deceiving. You have to read the book and take extensive notes on the videos and readings to pass. She doesn't appreciate opinions or students coming to class late. Not a very interesting professor or class overall.
I would not recommend. She is big on making you come to class because her tests all come from lecture but she does not really explain things in class. Claims she will not judge your opinion and flat out tells you your opinion is wrong.
She is horrible. She is rude and makes her tests impossible. Do not take. This was the hardest class I had this semester and it is supposed to be an intro class. If you do not agree with her lectures she will make sarcastic and rude comments to the whole class. Avoid. Hardest B I've ever gotten.
This is not the teacher you should take for an easy A. The topic is interesting, but her class was so hard. I read the chapters, took notes, went to every class and would still make low B's on her tests. The questions are so tricky and she picks random statistics to test you over from the book. Offers extra credit. Do all the online homework!
Lepard is an opinionated professor who makes claims and backs them up because she's ready to argue. However, her students are not allowed to voice their claims without being subjected to uncalled for, rude comments from a "professional." While she is clearly knowledgable on her subject, she lets her POV get in the way of transmitting knowledge.
Lisa is a great professor!! You have to show that you are a dedicated student in her class!! Many students don't reach out to her for help which isn't her fault. She offers students help during office hours. Yes you have to read and yes you have to come to class! No student should expect an easy "A." You're awesome Lisa!
Great professor! She's very sarcastic and its so funny. I loved her. TAKE HER! Four tests and final was optional. Online quizzes are easy and she gave a lot of extra credit.. if she offers TAKE IT
Prof. Lepard's was certainly not my best class, but it was fairly easy. She gives tons of extra credit, and your online, open book quizzes count for 20% of your grade. Even if you don't make A's on the exams, you can get an A in the class. Be sure to go to class, and talk to her during office hours if you're struggling.
A lot of people give Professor Lepard a bad rep, but honestly, if you show up to class and take good notes, her tests shouldn't be THAT hard. She really does try to teach everything from a non-biased view and may be a little opinionated but it is normally funny. Just don't skip or be late and pay attention. Her exams are entirely the lecture.
She is funny and her class is interesting but the lectures will make you feel like everything is common sense. The test were extremely hard. I couldn't pull a B on any of the four test. Highest test grade was a 78. So if you're looking to receive an A out of this class, I wouldn't take her especially if you are taking other time consuming class.
I wouldn't recommend her because her lectures are very vague and monotonous . She doesn't post her powerpoints online, yet her test are very specific. Even if you read the book and memorize every detail, the highest you'll make is maybe a 70 unless you're really good at guessing.
She is one of the best professors i've ever had. Keep in mind that sociology is a LIBERAL concept before taking this class. She's very sarcastic and does not tolerate disrespect. You need to read the book in order to pass. She is the one who made me want to declare my minor as sociology.
I really liked her class! She is funny and helpful professor. She really cares about student feedback and grades, giving plenty of extra credit and quick to respond to any questions you may have! I would definitely take her again!
