Took her online for HUM 20th Century. Most of your grade is based on 4 essays. You can write about any topic associated with the time period. Easy weekly discussions, I'm not sure if she really grades them, but I think they do count for participation points. No tests or quizzes ever (also no midterm or final). Pick good topics, and write well!
Best teacher ever. Took her summer class for freshman comp 1 and enjoyed every minute of it. The work is easy if you pay attention and she makes the class fun. Would definitely recommend this professor.
i took HUM 20th century online this summer. very easy class, no HW, lots of reading, and essays. she's a harsh grader when it comes to essay's, make sure you use MLA formatt to the T. Use secoundlife for this class which was new for me. very intresting class. i wouldnt recommend this class if your not a good writer, but good teacher though.
Loved this class! In class participation is necessary, and there is a fair amount of required reading. The essay topics are broad and examples are posted online. Less work than I expected though.
I am an older student, and I took her on line "2nd Life" If you are willing to attend class on the computer, do easy work, and participate, then you will get an "A", without question. She is serious, but fun and professional. You will learn and have fun at the same time. Trust me she is an excellent and fair instructor.
This class was about an interesting time but the teacher was a very harsh grader. Do MLA exactly perfect or you'll fail. Also, she doesn't give good feedback on your essays. I wouldn't recommend her for this class to anyone.
Forget what the other people have typed. They are just scared of improvement. Lippitt is more than fair and very helpful. She can see whether someone has potential. Lippitt always says "I would never set you up to fail" and that my friends is the TRUTH...
Lippitt is amazing. She's funny, nice, and helpful as long as you ask for it. She's a tough grader but if you're looking to improve in your college experience you'll get exactly what you're looking for. She's an MLA expert and knows her content thoroughly, too. Highly recommend for those looking to better themselves (especially as a writer).
If you are not an English major or Dr. DO NOT take her class. Simple assignments. Harshest grading ever. 6 hrs spent writing to get D's on 2 papers. You are better off taking someone else. Don't think about taking her, just take someone else unless you like stacking 20's and lighting them on fire for fun.
I took her online humanities class, and I recieved a B, she doesn't hand out A's that easily and is a pretty harsh grader. but getting a good grade in her course is possible if you really put forth an effort. If your a half ass writer she will fail you, so for those that struggle with writing it would be in your best interest to take someone else.
Took Professor Lippitt's online Humanities class. She is a GREAT professor that interacts with her students and answers emails promptly, she is open and honest about what she expects and YES you have to earn your grade in her class and YES it is possible to get an "A". I thoroughly enjoyed her class.
She is an amazing teacher, plan and simple. If you need help, ask her. She will help you out in anyway she can. She is an honest teacher and she does want you to succeed. She will help you broaden your writing capabilities. She is also very inspiring, well to me at least.
Professor Lippitt is an awesome teacher and she cares about her student's success. Her teaching strategies are very effect and easy to understand. She also makes her class enjoyable through her great sense of humor.
She's super chill, I am currently on the IDH track and I am very excited about the next 3 semesters (including this one). She is an MLA nazi, so be sure you make it a point to review the guidelines before turning in a paper. Overall great professor and awesome person :)
Professor Lippitt is BY FAR the absolue best instructor I have had in my collegiate career. If you want to goof off and not take college seriously then, she is not the instructor for you. But, if you would like to learn how to write a paper from someone who is AN EXPERT at it, take her and consult with her during office hours. SHE IS THE BEST!!!!
For an online course, the interest level wasn't bad. Like most online class there were discussions and papers but they weren't difficult to do. No complaints.
She says she has office hours, but looks at you like you are from another planet if you consult with her during them. I have seen many more involved teachers with their students. Keeps her personal thoughts known in the classroom. (which is none of our business as students). Take someone who is willing to engage in their students success.
Taking her online Enlightenment. Terrible mistake. Very unclear on what she wants out of the discussions. Says length doesn't matter then docks points for short posts. Gives 0/10 on things almost religiously with no definite explanation (not even 1 point given for participation). You will be punished for asking creative questions. Not worth it guys
Papers are very hard. She acts as if you are a professor already. You have 3 papers to write you pick what they are about. But be sure you know your MLA format. Make sure you cite each source. Its just really allot of work.I mean I'm not going to be a writer.Discussions every week.
Also taking for IDH1112 She is absolutely wonderful. She is very helpful and cares about her students. She taught me how to write a paper. Simply put if you want to learn truly learn something then she is the right Prof. for you.
I took 20th century Humanities, very interesting class. We watch 3 films, write papers about those films. Also have to write 3 other papers about any topic from a certain era. Some discussion in class, no tests just quizzes (and they don't count for many points, the bulk grade is papers). Very nice professor :) I hate history and enjoyed this class
Took honors online course in Second Life. Very cool structure, just like classroom experience except able to enjoy from the comfort of your home. Only assignments are 4 research papers, subject of your choosing. She doesn't provide a grading rubric but if your having troubles, but she wants to help. Take her if youwant to learn to write.
The best! She's fantastic, funny, and engaging. She's an insightful grader and a wonderful lecturer. Papers are a little difficult, because she grades MLA very strictly. However, she provides a lot of excellent constructive criticism.
Great teacher, you will learn a lot about the subject BUTA PAPER DUE EVERY WEEK! very tough grader and MLA freak. I worked my butt off for a B. If your taking other classes that require a lot of out of class work don't take her. I did learn a lot and enjoyed the class very much. Attendance is a major portion of your grade which helps most!
I really like IDH, but she is by far the worst teacher of the course. While Frame and Sparks try to help the students to get a good grade, she avoids that the most. Lectures are good, but MLA FREAK and dont give us the support we need. IDH is worth taking because of other professors NOT because of her.
Lippitt is one of the greatest professors I have ever taken. She takes the time to help you as long as you put in the work. If you don't try, you won't make it. If you want a solid education, take her. If you want to get a grade that will not help you in life then take someone else.
Lippitt is not only one of the best professors at Valencia, but one of the most helpful people that I've ever encountered. She is very supportive of your education, but don't expect to have it handed to you. Work hard and you will be rewarded. Of course, if you weren't familiar with hard work, then you probably wouldn't be in IDH to begin with.
Yeah she's a tough grader and all but she's actually a very cool person. I was a little worried going into IDH when I read some of these reviews but once I met her and the class started up,everything turned out fine. Be prepared for lots of work.
Professor Lippitt is the best!! It is true that she is tough on MLA, but she knows what she is doing and is very friendly and super helpful. I love Prof. Lippitt!!!
Professor Lippitt is outstanding. She is a toughe due to the fact that she teaches writing courses. Her grading is fair though, I have never felt that the grade I received was a poor representation of the quality/effort on my part. IDH1110 has 6 essays total and requires 3 books, 9780205782154, 9780078038266, and 9780486278049.
You would be lucky if all of your professors were as knowledgeable, helpful, and cool as Professor Lippitt. IDH challenges you, and Professor Lippitt is there to help you meet that challenge. A lot of professors at Valencia are likely to leave you woefully unprepared for real college, but Professor Lippitt will not disappoint. Take her.
She's a brilliant individual, however, she tends to be a bit of an absolutist. She can be quite condescending if you even remotely disagree with her. If you're bold enough to challenge her, she'll talk to you like you're an ignorant child. There are times when her arguments degrade to fallacious logic. She is very set on being right.
I have failed 2 HUM before her because I hate lectures but prof Lippit makes it really interesting. Your grade pretty much comes from your papers which weren't that bad (3-3pg, 3-5pg).Tough MLA grader and you have to EARN your grade but worth it; helped me become better in the writing area. I would recommend her and take her again.
She's my favorite in IDH to talk to. She's a little intimidating at first but she's really awesome. Very straightforward and will tell you how it is. She was a lit major in college so she's strict on MLA (which is fairly easy once you get the hang of it). Her lectures are really good and she's just generally a cool person
Professor Lippit is fabulous, she has a very witty personality. I will miss her lectures in the IDH program! She is an honest grader and will make sure you learn MLA . Her contributions to the IDH program were amazing. I will never forget her love of cats, but most of all the shift of perspectives that she made me realize through her lectures. :)
She is amazing. Take her class!
Loved the class/prof! The grades are just three papers, graded more on MLA standards than content. Lectures were really informative and engaging. Learned about a lot of lesser known topics. No tests/homework at all. There were maybe 5 one question quizzes based on the reading but they were an easy 10 points. Overall great 20th century teacher.
Professor Lisa Lippitt was hands down my favorite professor. Her lectures inspired me to independently research the topics she was teaching because they were so interesting. She also makes her own dresses! She is an incredible professor and you will not regret being her student.
Professor Lippitt was hands down my favorite professor, her first lecture made me want to come back and learn more. Her lectures inspired me to independently research the topics she was teaching because they're so interesting. She also makes her own dresses! She is an incredible professor and you will not regret taking her class!

I took professor lisa Lippitt for 20th cen and African American studies HUM2454. Great professor class is optional. Must take notes and read the text book there is 3 or 4 papers per class that you write. Take a trip to the writing center she is a stickler for grammatical errors and misspelled words.
HORRIBLE. Stay away from this one
Professor Lippitt is an amazing person. She truly cares both about her students and the material that she is teaching. She will help you with a paper if you bring a draft by her office and will challenge you to become a better writer while giving you all the tools necessary to succeed. A really amazing person and professor.

She will help you with a paper if you bring a draft by her office and will challenge you to become a better writer while giving you all the tools necessary to succeed. A really amazing person and professor. Oh, and also hilarious.
She was a good teacher, very funny, and her lectures were interesting. Although, we are only graded on 3 essay papers and she is a very TOUGH grader. I got two B's and a D on my essays (which are a minimum of 5-6 pgs long) and i barely passed with a C. We did quizzes in the beginning but for some reason she didn't add them to our final grade.
Be prepared to read a lot. Most of the work would be discussions that at the end it's almost nothing of your total grade. You'll have to do 3 papers about 5-6 pages which would be almost all your grade, she will take grades of your paper for simple reasons, harder than my English comp 1 and 2 professor together!
She is horrible, stay away from her class
I am a dual enrollment student, and I can say this class does require a lot of work. However, to pass the class you just need to put thought into your work and complete it on time, because this professor does not accept late work!
She is so funny and her classes are so engaging. The fact that the only grades in the class are the three papers + participation can seem scary but she's always willing to help if you do your paper with enough time in advance. She's always willing to talk after class and is just an overall amazing human being.
SHE IS AWESOME! honestly best professor I've taken. She is funny and loves cats. your grade is based on 3 essays and participation/attendance. Lenient grader, but miss her lectures and your grade will suffer.
This is literally the only teacher I would recommend taking online. There is no extra credit but the class is so well organized and all it takes if you to follow instructions and do your absolute best. TAKE HER NOW!!
Shes not hard to please with papers. But she is a bit heavy on your grammar. But other wise shes a great teacher.
Professor Lippitt was an amazing instructor. Her syllabus was very clear with expectations. 1-2 discussions per week (no peer responses required) and 3 papers. There are three novels that you must purchase to pass the discussions and the content is good. Lastly, you will read short stories, watch music videos, and listen to speeches to evaluate.
Just finished taking her class. She isnt that bad, but a little tough grader on her essays. Just follow her rules on what she wants on the essays and youll ace them. But other than that, this course is easy. Warning: if you dont like reading, dont take this course because youll be doing a lot of reading.
I love professor lisa! She is high every and high spirited. She spikes the truth and has amazing explanations and opinions on these topics. I took her for african American humanities and she engaged with us perfectly. Assignments were easy. Quizzes 3 questions. She grades essays easy and gives good feedback on them. Easy A!
There were 3 papers with a 3-4 page requirement, 1-3 discussions every week and no tests. I enjoyed taking her class. There are three books that are required, but the books were really interesting. I loved taking this class. Easy to pass if you do the discussions and do well on your papers.
Great professor. Easy A on all 3 essays and discussions twice a week. For your papers, don't write about anything boring, check your spelling, and cite correctly. Make sure you quote plenty for the discussions and you will pass this class with an A.
If you are trying to get an African-American Humanities teacher this is not the one she grades way too harshly yes you see she's a 4/5 they are most definitely lying she is not the one to pick I wished I picked another class I'm going to have to retake this class because of her.
This woman makes me regret taking African American Hum. I chose this over Mythology to learn about my culture. I did learn, but I should've taken the other course. Lisa's very picky and she loves to spam you with random articles that pose no significant use for the current assignment. They're informative but I'd rather it be related to the work.
This was a great class, however, I did a fast class so there was constant work every other day. Be prepared to read ALOT! If you are not big on reading, do not take this class. On the bright side the stories are interesting. The discussions are easy passes, and for your essays just make it interesting. It's a super easy class just do the work!
Lisa Marie Lippitt does give clear grading criteria and expectations on her syllabus, but on canvas, there is almost no specification for how she wants students to complete each assignment. If it wasn't for the ability to submit blank postings, just to see how everyone else did THEIR work, I would've never even had a CHANCE at passing this course!
Professor Lippitt is hands down the best professor Ive had. Really really easy class. Literally 3 questions quizzes and NO EXAMS! Just really easy papers to write. She definitely knows whats shes talking about and very passionate about it to. TAKE THIS CLASSS!!
She is okay at best. Doesn't really care of the class honestly but she does make you read a lot. You will need all books and don't be afraid to read ahead it saves you time. Her instructions are unclear for me and did result in me getting an F on an assignment. You will be writing papers. She's a 5/10 at best for me.
She doesn't even read what you write, she just sees how long what you wrote is. She uses unichecked, I don't see a problem with that. However only because the title of a song was highlighted as a match in another paper or website. She gave me a 0. she talks about justice and humanities, she is not interested in your work and effort.
I took her online African American humanities class. Aside from the fact that it was an easy A (just submit the work), the material was so interesting. ive never actually been intrigued by a college class! Im thankful to have learned the info in this course, so mind opening.. Definitely recommend this class!!
I found all the textbooks needed for AA Humanities free online. Received an A on every assignment. Not sure what all the negative reviews are about. If you follow the syllabus instructions you'll get an A. This is high school level work. Come on people!! Great course can't complain
if ur down to do the class yourself, this is for u! she just assigns readings, but there's no actual curriculum or anything. its mad reading, with the occasional paper here and there. it honestly wasn't that bad, but she's kind of absent from the class. & she is yt for anyone wondering idk if its just me but i was shocked when i found out
Professor Lippitt is a rare instructor, one that really cares what you learn, how you learn, how you contextualize what you learn, how you engage. Her dedication to the awareness of the cultural contributions of African-Americans can be seen in every facet of her being. I enjoyed every lecture, every story, all of the materials she puts together.
Easy A. Take the online course if you need to fulfill your humanities credit.
Easy A and she communicates well! Assignments are detailed perfectly.
I consider the class an easy A because she isn't too strict with grading. There are about 4 essays in total for the whole course. There was a lot of reading required for the quizzes but they had unlimited chances and were due at the end of the semester for my class. Good teacher but I expected a little more.
Attendance matters! If you know that you hate showing up to class you will not get a easy A. She is an amazing teacher and she is straight forward about everything you don't see that everyday. Only 4 papers the entire semester and the rest of easy quizzes.
Honestly, if you really care like actually care about this class. Don't take her. She just tells you to read pages from the textbook and summarize like every week maybe missing a week here and there. I mean she's a really easy grader but yea. I mean I honeslty just needed this class for the credit. So personally, I would take her again. HUM 1020.
If this course is required for your AA degree. I highly recommend taking it with Professor Lippitt. You'll read 3 books and complete 4 essays (one is extra credit), related assignments, and discussions. Her instructions are clear, and she grades leniently. Complete the assignments as required, and an A is attainable.
not really communicative at all but super easy class. I took intro to humanities and each week there was a 20 pg reading you had to summarize in at least 500 words. If you miss one reading, it's an automatic B but there is one week towards the end of the semester where there is extra credit. Super easy A
Easy professor! I took her for HUM 2250, and there were only three papers due for the whole course (no other assignments). Attendance does matter, but her lectures were interesting. She likes student engagement within her classes, but doesn't pressure you into it if you're quite. Can't recommend her enough!
Prof Lippitt's class is interesting but the coursework is just 3 toughly-papers on a topic of your choice that are graded with little to no feedback and another extra credit paper. This can tank your grade more than classes with a lot of assignments. The class is for ppl who like randomness, can write a long paper, and can participate consistently.
Prof. Lippitt is not really communicative at all but super easy class. Just had a few assignments to do which you get 100 automatically for completing it, but it's too many questions if you want to know, you have to read then answer, but i passed with an A for completing them! TAKE her!!
not bad, there was honestly no engagement between her and the students online lol. weekly assignments here and there, 4 papers total–thats it. she doesnt have a clear rubric and kinda just docks off points as she wills, but she doesnt go overboard so its alright. didnt really learn much humanities but overall she made it easy so yes id recommend Ü
I 100% recommend Prof. Attendance is MANDATORY. Only critique is that she is not the best and keeping the class engaged and there is a lot of dead silence during lectures. 4 papers total for her class. She is a tough grader on spelling, formatting, and grammar so make sure you proof read your work before submitting. Her quizzes are very simple.
I love this Professor. It is very easy to pass this class. Attendances is really important when it comes to this class because it has more affect of dropping your grade. It makes the class more interesting if people debrief after the lectures to show the professor that you understood what you watched. She is very lenient about late assignments.
Overall Professor Lippitt's humanities course was very simple. Four papers worth 100 points with small writing assignments each week, her grading was not very clear unfortunately. If you're already a strong writer and have an interest in humanities I would recommend.
The good thing about this class: wasn't any true lectures. Just articles and books to read, and videos to watch. Writing reflections is the bulk of the class. 4 papers (1 is extra credit) and 2-3 assignment due each week. Make sure that in discussions you write plenty! Class was very easy and LOVED this professor! 10/10 would recommend.
It's a really easy A, just make sure to submit the assignments on time. There aren't that many assignments, and the topics are kind of random, but they're super easy to do. Plus, the professor is very generous with grading. If what you want is a good grade, this professor is absolutely great.
