LISA IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! The best prof in the department
She's fantastic!
She is an awesome teacher. There is not a lot of work either. There is reading but you do not have to do it because her notes are so good and her tests come from her notes. She is available for help if need be. She also makes the material very easy to understand. I highly suggest taking any class with her.
You rock girl :)

Great professor. She's very helpful, informative, and fun but you will definitely have to study for her tests.
Really good teacher, makes class fun and interesting.
took human sexuality with her. class was interesting and humorous at times. assignments were not very hard and graded fairly. sometimes she took a long time to return our graded homework. don't need to read the book -- nearly all of the material is presented in lecture. just attend class and you'll be fine.
Very helpful teacher. She is also very kind and funny. The class material is not very exciting but she does a great job to keep you interested (considering it is a psych requirement). Homework is not too difficult and she grades fairly. Tests arent super easy but they arent too hard. She likes applied questions rather than definitions.
I adored this class and this professor. Quizzes are easy if you attend class and go over your notes. The text book is totally unnecessary. This professor is funny and makes lecture fun to attend; I managed to make it to class nearly every day for an 830 lecture.
Great class, great teacher! Didn't mind the class starting at 8:30a because the information was so interesting. She told great stories about her kids and was very willing to answer questions. No need for the book, quizzes are pretty easy if you study and the final isn't much worse. Highly recommended!
Tests are a little hard but keeps class fun and interesting.
Very interesting class, and she is willing to help you succeed on the tests. Very approachable and lectures were easy to follow and went right along with the book.
Probably one of the least sympathetic people I have ever met. Lectures were boring, homework was pointless and she doesn't grade them herself. All together worse professor I've had here. My greatest sympathy's go out to those of you who have class with her
Had her for 333 and 530. Both classes were relatively easy. Lectures go right along with the book, and tests aren't too hard if you come to class. She's funny and often lets class out early. Overall, a really good professor.
The lectures are very interesting and she has alot of fun stories to go with them! I thought the quizzes and homeworks are very fair and information is very interesting!
She was a pretty awesome lecturer. Kept up with current research and told us alot of side stories that help in remembering the material. Very helpful professor, clear and interesting lectures. I would definitely take her class again and recomend her class to anyone else interested.
Hit or miss. Material was interesting, a few too many personal ancedotes, and she likes to use semi-tricky questions on quizzes. She is incredibly knowledgable, and I took a lot away from here. I got a B from just going to every class and never touching the book.
I thought she was wonderful, and I sincerely wish I could take more classes with her. Her lectures are all power point, and everything is explained in complete detail. Absolutely NO NEED to buy the book, as she only will quiz you on her class notes. The quizzes are fair, and HW is graded easily. You do not want to have to do the 4th h.w. (its hard!
Everyone should take this class! Its so fun, interesting and not too difficult. Homework is easy, test arent too hard (if you study)and there are lots of opportunities for bonus (do them). GO TO CLASS and you wont need to read, however, this is the greatest book you will ever have for a class.
Laura is an AMAZING professor because she is so personable and very organized. She relates her real-world experience to what she is teaching and makes the classroom experience relaxed and enjoyable. Probably the BEST professor that I have ever had an Ohio State and I'm not even a Psychology Major. She made it worth getting up at 8:30am.
Great, nice, and helpful teacher.
She grades her homeworks easy, do all of the extra credit. Her exams however were very lengthy and sometimes difficult.
She is very energetic and makes the class interesting. I think her 530 class was easier than it normally would be because I took in summer quater. There were 4 exams. Each was multiple choice and 30 minutes long. She also provided extra credit opportunities.
Extremely interesting lectures. However, her tests were somewhat hard, but she curved significantly at the end of the quarter. One of my favorite professors at OSU. Make sure you go to office hours...it helps out a lot!
Puts outlines on Carmen that follow the notes in class. Just print the outline, come to class, fill it out and you have an easy A. You could also get by with filling it out yourself via the textbook, but it was easier to go to class. The exams came directly from the class notes.
She's fantastic! I took both 540 and 333.02 with her and loved both. She's very personable and engaging, as well as incredibly helpful. Exams are not the easiest but don't let that scare you away because you will enjoy learning from her. She is definitely my favorite professor at Ohio State.
She makes her Psych 333.02 class interesting and funny. She also has a lot of stories. The exams are not the easiest, but she offers extra credit.
She was great! She is very very liberal though and she devotes much of the class to homosexuality and not much to heterosexuality. Overall she was funny and the class is very easy! Only textbook question on a test was a bonus no need to buy.
Awesome class! She's an awesome teacher and makes lecutres hilarious. This is the only class I look forward to going to... def take her 333.02 class on human sexuality!
Attendance is required. If it weren't, the only people who would be there are the girls who love to giggle ecstatically as she brags about how great her two kids are. I aced every test but got a C on attendance (reading the book is much more enjoyable), which is telling of her teaching abilities.
Pretty decent class, you have to attend to get the attendance grade (20 points). Also, there are 4 exams, 30 points each plus 6 extra credit homework assignments worth 1 point each. Pretty easy class if you attend lecture; she doesnt post the notes or outlines online or send them to you via email, even for an excused absense.
Very very good teacher. She knows what she is talking about!
She is fantastic! She's a great teacher and she's really funny. The class is already interesting and she makes it even better. Take this class!
She is awesome. One of the best, most passionate professors I have ever had. Attendance was mandatory, but that was no problem, I love going to class. She has a great, fun, goofy personality and really know her psychology. She definitely goes out of her way to help her students and has helped me out a lot. Love her.
Professor is really funny and helpful! My all-time favorite class at OSU!
Great teacher, enjoys teaching students and helps keep classes interesting with stories about all of her experiences in therapy. You do lose points for missing a class, but exams are based off the notes with maybe 3-5 questions from the text. Overall she's great and I'd recommend any of her classes
Great teacher, not very difficult. This class was a lot of fun, but there were so few points that if you missed a few, you were in a bit of trouble. Would definitely recommend, though.
excellent and very easy course. quizzes online with the book and periodic projects. no midterms, and no final if you do well on the quizzes!
Very helpful and extremely enjoyable class environment! You can tell she loves her job and that's what makes a great teacher! Very clear and is quite funny! :) You'll enjoy this class!
I think Lisa Cravens-Brown is an awesome teacher who communicates the subject matter very clearly and thoroughly! She is very passionate about the subject matter which makes the class atmosphere very inviting and relaxed. It was an 7:30am class and she made it so interesting that it was almost impossible to fall asleep in class! Awesome teacher who
Loved her. She was the most interesting professor I've ever had. Great sense of humor, made me want to go to lecture.
The class was great, Extremely interesting. I enjoyed the subject and she kept me awake for an 8:30 am class. The only issue i had with her was that she is opinionated and pushes her views on the class as FACT. She claims to be open minded, yet she only considers her own ideologies to be correct and dismisses all other possibilities
Lisa Cravens-Brown is extremely dedicated to her students. Her class is full of hands on learning and humor.
She is awesome..very recommended
Lisa is such a fun and exciting teacher! I love her! She will make you burst out laughing in an 8am class. Lecture is mandatory since she doesn't post any notes. Grade comprised of 5 carmen discussions, 3 midterms, and a non-cumulative final. Go to class, study a little, and you will have no problem. I highly recommend taking a class with her!!!!!!
Awesome professor, relates subject matter to real events and stories from her life, couldn't imagine a better prof to teach a class on sex. and you'll learn a lot!
very good attitude toward teaching! Makes stats easy to understand.
attendance isn't mandatory but there is a sign in sheet every class - if you attend all of them you get bonus points. really fun teacher, tons of stories and always an interesting class to attend
Makes class very easy and entertaining.
She's very very good! I like the way she arrange the schedules and she's very helpful if you have questions. lectures are very important even though she will let you make up attendance by finishing extra homework, going to class very helps a lot! take her class.
Awesome, awesome class. Lisa was a very enthusiastic, interesting and helpful professor. This class is pretty easy just make sure you go to lecture, a lot of info on the exams come just from lecture!
She's a lecturer, so her main focus is to teach, which is a very nice change from many professors in the psych department. Class was fun and interesting with plenty of extra credit. Definitely my favorite class this quarter.
Very eccentric teacher - fun to listen to. Had one issue with my project grade - she told us after we turned in the project that if we did what she asked us, we would get a B, and only by doing extra will you get an A. Otherwise nice teacher.
very entertaining! topics are interesting and she tells fun stories at the same time. tests are simple if you study. attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll want to go and get the notes... she also gave extra credit to those with high attendance.
Interesting class and the perfect professor to take it with! She is very clear and enthusiatic about what she does and there will never be a boring day in class. Homework reading material is even interesting. I have learned and will be taking a lot out of this class. Highly highly recommend!!
She is an awesome teacher. Very knowledgeable over the topics she teaches and is very genuinely interested in helping people and see them succeed. The class is very interesting and she is very entertaining in her lectures and incorporates interesting media. I would 100% recommend her as a teacher.
Enjoyed the material and the attituted she had while teaching us. I would recommend this class to anyone even semi-interested in this subject.
Dr. Cravens-Brown is a great professor to have. She tells great stories about her children and family that relates to class. She also shares things about when she was doing therapy. She made boring and sad topics entertaining and easy to learn. Great class to take.
She is literally the best prof I have had at OSU. Her lectures are extremely entertaining and you learn a lot. She uses a lot of humor and stories about her family/life to keep class awesome. Take her for whatever class you can. This class should be required for the major!
She was the best professor I have had at OSU. She is energetic and makes material interesting. There is no busy work in this course and options for bonus points.
I absolutely loved this class. Very helpful teacher who loves what she teaches and it shows in how she conducts herself during classes. Could not recommend this woman enough!
Awesome professor. She's hilarious and her lectures are enjoyable
She is the best lecturer! She is so helpful, clear and interesting. Take every class she teaches, you will not regret it.
Stats in Psychology may be a boring subject but she makes it very interesting and is very helpful its a somewhat difficult class but she breaks everything down very well.
MOST AMAZING TEACHER AT OSU! Human Sexuality is the most interesting and fun class and Lisa is truly the best teacher I have ever had! She is informative, makes class fun and is really passionate! If you get the chance to take her class, DO IT!
I stumbled onto Prof Cravens-Brown out of a mutual interest in subject matter. Doing an independent study is pretty difficult but she made it soooo fun. She would have me in tears sometimes because she is so funny!!! She was able to communicate the difficult material in a very clear way. She is a wealth of knowledge and will keep you on your toes!
This class was really easy. She let us redo 2 tests (so that you can get up to 100% on them). However, I was not one of the people to actually like the teacher herself. Every single time I asked a question, she'd reply with, "Oh, I can't tell you that." She did this 3 separate times. So I went to the TA and she would answer my questions.
Best teacher ever!!!
I was really excited to take a class with her due to all of the good reviews. boy was I wrong. She comes off as very rude, and has no problem failing you on the group project if she doesn't like the topic you chose. She also spends a lot of time telling boring, personal stories that don't relate to the material. The tests are easy though.
This professor was alright. The class in general was pretty easy (it was mostly just a vocab centered class).
She is an extremely interesting teacher, and I enjoyed her vibrant personality and sense of humor. She knows how to teach and she does it well. The tests were all on CARMEN and timed, but it helped that I was able to glance over my notes if I needed them. Overall, she is a solid teacher, and I would recommend taking a class with her.
Great class, many easy extra credit opportunities, online exams. You can tell Lisa is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, but she also adds in humor to her lectures. You'll need to go to class to do well, but I didn't purchase the book and ended up with a high A.
She is a breath of fresh air! I talked about loving her class so much my friends started coming to her class just for fun. She is wonderful. If you come to class and do your work, it's an easy A. Online exams, attendance is extra credit and the online reading assignments are fascinating! TAKE THIS CLASS.
She is a brilliant teacher. It wasn't hard at all to pay attention in her 8am class. Loved every minute of it.
Though everyone I've talked to says they loves her as a teacher, She can not teach this class. Nothing makes sense. Her slides are useless. I am surviving in the class by learning everything from the book, not her. Take this class with another professor!
Dr. C-B is a very enlightened professor. She does more than deliver information because she challenges the student to think for themselves. Some people may get offended because she is very research based, but take it as a grooming lesson. Especially if you wish to go to grad school or do research. She's down to earth and great at what she does.
LCB is a good teacher, but you will be very dependent upon the textbook for most learning. Reading is essential. HW every week and easy exams. I studied <1.5 hrs per exam and scored very close to perfect. 5% total extra credit also helps. TBH, I didn't pay attention too much in class and did well. Only took class for the minor. No major complaints.
Lisa was AWESOME. Assignments and Exams were all online. Allows you to use notes. Lectures were fun and active. Nothing really bad to say. I would recommend her class!
Great instructor but as far as exams go, 90% of the material on the exams is from the lectures so good notes are key.
Dr. Cravens-Brown is an extremely intellectual woman, and I recommend taking her Human Sexuality class to anyone who may be interested. She's very clear about grades from the get-go and attending class is paramount since almost all of the exam questions are based on lectures (maybe 15% come from the book, so you need to have it as well).
SO many in class assignments, hard tests, but she was a good teacher and stats was required for a psych degree so if you have to take this class then I would take it with her because I was actually able to understand the content
Professor Cravens-Brown was amazing!! A lot of particpation so attendance is a must!! But you'll find yourself wanting to go to learn about the day's discussion and subject! She was always bright and cheery and really made the class quite delightful!
She is one of my favorite teachers, you can tell she loves what she does. She also does a great job at making lectures interesting. But make sure you attend class, she does a lot of participation points
Dr. CB is my favorite teacher I have ever had. The subject material is my academic focus, so I'm biased in saying that it is super interesting, but I think most people agree, it rocks. The tests are entirely based off of in-class lectures, so you have to show up, but you'll want to come anyways because the class rocks.
I love Lisa!! I've taken two of her classes and she's been great for both of them. The tests can be a little tricky, especially for this class. (But I also didn't read as much as I should've.) Her lectures are fun and interesting, and she's very approachable and loves to help you out if you go to office hours.
I loved this class. The professor is super hilarious and makes the class engaging. Easy A if you take notes.
I thought I didn't like her for like a good month or 2, but turns out she is really cool. I just didn't how it sounded as if she was getting smart with me when I spoke to her.
I learned so much from Lisa in my gender class. For one, she didn't teach a regular lecture(slide)class. The students were communicating with each other, and the conversations had a lasting impression on me. I find myself talking about the content of the course to everyone I encounter now. Thank you for this delightful experience, Lisa.
Lisa was a professor that cared A LOT about what she taught, as well as having a good relationship with her students. This class style is different than others in the way that there were no exams, almost all of the points came from in-class participation and assignments. Its a good filler class, but there is work during class unlike others.
She is just wonderful. So engaged in class with interesting material to lecture on. She doesn't lecture on what is on the textbook so that part is up to you, but the textbook is an easy read.
Dr. CB is awesome! Super engaged in lectures and gives really relatable/funny personal stories. Makes the topic of sex very comfortable and fun. Uses random tophat questions for participation points. Exams are all online and decently easy. Buy/rent the book. Definitely recommend taking her and this class, you won't regret it!
Definitely the best professor I've had at OSU! Couldn't bring myself to skip her class because it was so fun. Exams are all online, and a decent amount of your grade comes from attendance/participation. She makes topics that are sometimes seen as taboo really easy to discuss. Show up and make sure you get the textbook and you'll pass.
You need the book for the online exams. I can't imagine trying to do those without it. Participation matters a lot, it's like 30% of your grade, but she's hilarious so it was rare that I didn't want to go to class.
She made class funny and interesting. I never skipped this class. There aren't any major surprises on her tests, just study the material and you'll do well.
She made class fun and interesting.
Conflicted about her - very good, high quality prof who's passionate about clinical psych. but her teaching style is unorthodox - no lectures which means no notes/slides. Class title is deceptive - not actually about clinical psych. Exams are essay for better/worse but lots of extra credit opps. grading is strict. nothing is hard but unfamilar.
She's friendly and approachable, and I enjoyed taking her class. No textbook, but a lot of reading in her class, mainly research articles for group projects. Be prepared to communicate/work with many different people in the class; almost every day is a group project with a randomly-assigned group. Graded on completion of assignments and attendance.
Dr. Cravens-Brown was awesome. This class was about psychology podcasts and was mainly a discussion-based class. She was very interesting and intelligent and it was a very engaging class that felt like a community. It's very easy to get an A as long as you show up every day and do the discussion posts.
She is an easy laid back teacher. We have weekly 5 point quizzes that take maybe 15 minutes to study for every Tuesdays. She goes through a lot of case studies and examples when she lectures. She does top hat questions which are like general questions for points every class.
Vocab quizzes are given every Tuesday but super easy! I would love to take her again!
Dr. Cravens-Brown is so cool. I had my intro to psych class in a lecture hall of 600 and was still able to learn the content and do well. She's easy to contact outside of class and is always straightforward with grading. Overall I'd highly recommend taking a class with her!
Such an easy and interesting class! LCB is a very fun professor and is very approachable. There is plenty of extra credit throughout different sections, and she sets the course up so you can earn more points than you can get, basically giving you points to throw away.
READ THE ENTIRE SYLLABUS. I didn't and it put me behind a lot on REP credits. But CB does a good job keeping students informed of deadlines. Very funny and interesting person; lectures weren't bad. Extra credit! Lots of points are from in-class. This isn't a class you'll want to skip if you want an A. Weekly quizzes are just vocab, pretty easy.
Easy to get a good grade. Provide 12 extra credits. Use Tophat to take attendance and ask questions. Can miss a few lectures and recitations based on your grade. No final exam, but optional quiz point make up exam(score will add to quiz category as extra credit.)
I'm obsessed with Lisa CB, she is so funny and really wants to keep her students interested in the material. You can also tell she genuinely cares about all her students and wants them to do well. She's super kind and there's not a ton of outside work, I would definitely take her as a professor again!
She sure has energy! Its a fun class but if you don't really like psych it can be a drag. She is super entertaining and keeps the students engaged.
Please disregard my grade because I missed far too many classes; otherwise, I would've gotten closer to an A with minimum effort. The lectures can get pretty boring. She does have her TA's watch for people getting off-task (on phones, on laptops, talking, etc.) so if you cannot help yourself with that kind of thing, maybe choose another professor.
She's great! The lectures aren't necessarily mandatory but there's solely in-class activities that make it more encouraged for students to attend class. There was no final exam for us which made it stress-free. She has a somewhat strict no phone policy and a laptop zone in the lecture hall but it wasn't a big deal since notes weren't required.
Weekly homework: chapter reading & reading assignment (usually 30-45 minutes). Lectures were interesting & engaging. Attendance tracked by top hat questions (2-4 per class). NO EXAMS. 4 application assignments (~15 questions). Participation in research program is required; took up time outside of class but was easy. Minimal work. Highly recommend.
Prof. Cravens-Brown is a passionate and engaging instructor. Her class is manageable with lots of extra credit opportunities. The content is interesting, and she genuinely cares about her students' success. unstuckstudy was a helpful study tool alongside the readings and lectures.
Lectures were boring most of the time and didn't really pertain to the reading or the exams. Despite that, Dr. CB is well-spoken and is very knowledgeable about psych. Textbook assignments are a pain. No-phone policy and laptop zone in lecture hall. Overall OK professor, could be more engaging and make lectures useful for exams.
Dr. Cravens-Brown made the lectures interesting by discussing recent research in the field of psychology. Most of the information for the tests is learned through the textbook. If you do the reading, you'll be fine.
She's quirky and her lectures are sometimes interesting but aren't useful for the tests. Top hat questions are like 20 percent of your grade so make sure to pay attention during the lecture. Also if you go on your phone a TA will yell at you which is annoying. Weekly textbook readings are also annoying, but the 2 exams are based off vocab from it
Felt like the readiness homework assignments were busy work and that I didn't learn much from them but overall the class is an easy A. Do the homework assignments and pay attention in lecture and answer to top-hats and you'll do fine. Studied the night before the exams and still ended with an A with no prior psych experience. Super easy class.
